Fuel hose system leaking. Inhalation of gas fumes caused headaches and nausea. Risk of vehicle fire. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a Mercedes dealer. This is a known issue with Mercedes C300 2015 models and other years. There have been other complaints/lawsuits against Mercedes not wanting to pay for the issue. No warnings just strong gas smell.

Due to the type of fuel line and clamps used to fasten them, cold weather has caused them to shrink such that gas leaks, which comes through the car vents into the car cab and now into my [XXX] and [XXX] kids's lungs. Mercedes has issued a 10 year warranty on this specific feature, but it should be a safety recall unless we agree that inhaling gas vapors is okay for your health. There seems to be a continuous gas smell in my car and I see some class action law suits for the same problem but dealership says there is no recall- synopsis of class action below February 26, 2021 — A Mercedes C300 fuel smell has led to a class action lawsuit that alleges 2015-2019 (W205) C-Class vehicles have defects that cause fuel leaks and odors. According to the Mercedes-Benz class action lawsuit, fuel can leak into the engine compartment from fuel line connections to the fuel pump at the rear of the engine compartment. Mercedes C300 and other C-Class vehicle occupants complain of strong fuel smells caused by the fuel leaks. Please assist

Very strong gas smell inside the car when started and heat or air is turned on. I have done research and it is a common issue with this car. This is a very serious issue that can cause an engine fire with the gas leaking in the engine compartment.

I got my oil changed last week and not my car has the check engine light on and is throwing the code p025e. From what I’ve read this is common problem in these cars. It’s an environmental hazard, because when this happens the car is not dispelling the fumes as it should and cannot be ventilated correctly.

My 2015 Mercedes Benz vehicle is rarely driven as I took public transportation to work and has ~55000 miles. However, the engine has started throwing error code P052E verified by an independent dealer - crankcase ventilation valve failure. It means the engine could shut off amid driving and I did research and it seems like a very common issue that Mercedes Benz car owner encounter and feels like a severe car defect.

I have a fuel smell in the cabin of my car which started about 3 weeks ago. I have drove the car a couple of times and it was pretty bad, also my sunroof almost blew off the car while driving to dry the car after removing the salt from the streets after the snow. I have since parked it in the garage to avoid any further damage. I will submit pictures so you can see the sunroof.

P052E PCV value problem Google search results show this is a very common problem, and despite being a component of the vehicle emissions system, Mercedes is refusing to repair under the emissions warranty.

Mercedes Benz via American Service Center in Arlington, VA regarding the service they performed on my 2015 C300 W4 4Door Sedan AWD the following issues have presented: ISSUE: 03MBZZWARN1 ENGINE LIGHT TECH: 901844 PROBLEM: ENGINE HARNESS, ENGINE CONTROL MODULE, CRANKCASE VENT VALVE, AND O2 SENSOR BANK 1 CAUSE: FOUND OIL IN THE ENGINE HARNESS AND ENGINE HARNESS. OIL IS ENTERING THREW [SIC] THE CRANK CASE VENT VALVE. RECOMMEND REPLACING. Approximate miles at the time of this issue: 63,141. Cost of Repair: $8309.58 Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection. Safety concerns: The vehicle is not able to pass an emissions test with the engine light engaged. Per America Service Center in Arlington, VA, which is the only service center that has serviced the vehicle during my ownership, they commented and documented that oil is entering through a vent valve. My additional concerns are: If an odorless fume is passing into the passenger cabin and the vehicle can not pass state emissions these are immediate concerns. The service center advices that I may continue to drive the vehicle. However, I am concerned should the oil fully empty without warning the vehicle may fail while in use on a dangerous roadway due to cause and effect of additional unknown maintenance related operational co-dependent mechanical components.

2015 C300 Crankcase Ventilation Valve Replacement P052E71 NEED TO BE REPLACED, ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. ONLY HAVE 37,000 MILES MANY REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE

Mar 23, 2023

My son's car was blowing white smoke out of the exhaust and had a sweet burning smell and the check engine light came on. The crankcase vent valve is needing to be replaced on this 2015 C300 Mercedes Benz and many owners of this same type of car (different year) are posting about it. Owners of these types of cars are saying that replacement is happening more than once! That it's a common defect of these cars. My son has less than 100,000 miles (61,000 if that) and this shouldn't be happening. And, it's time someone does something to protect the consumer. Mercedes-Benz dealers are taking advantage of consumers and charging ridiculous prices to replace this part, but the part shouldn't be breaking. It's a safety factor in that it can affect driving, there's risk of blowing valves/valve cap and engines, including loss of the vehicle and nowadays no one can afford to buy a new car or even a used one! Consumers buy what they think is a reliable vehicle but Mercedes isn't taking care of their customers. Mercedes-Benz should be forced to do a recall and replace these faulty parts. Feb 26, 2023

Check engine light came on and strong fuel smell. Crankcase ventilation malfunction code was verified by dealer.

Feb 26, 2023

The car smell like gasoline inside, the gas hose connecting the high pressure gas line to the gas tank is licking due a bad connectors

Feb 17, 2023

When driving I accelerated and then the engine light turned on. after that the car was jolty and turned off completely when stopped. had to force a restart at the light. code that came back was p052E. This is a major and common issue with these cars. part is 400+ dollars. labor is much more since this is a 6 hour job. the work to replace this part is incredibly intensive that makes it impossible for regular car owners to change. Mercedes refuses to recognizes this as a common issue. but the truth is they designed a faulty system that they claim to have updated a handful of times now.

Strong odor of fuel in the cabin when entering the cabin and stronger when vehicle is first started

Jul 28, 2022

Check engine lite with code P052E that is "Positive Crank Case Ventilation Regulation Valve Performance" at around 65K miles. This might pose danger with engine failure. the problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. Dealer said that this problem is common to the year and model of my car and that the manufacturer has replaced this piece in newer models. Since the manufacturer already know this issue and replaced the piece with a better one for newer model. I believe this part should be recalled and replaced by the manufacturer. it is crazy amount of money for the consumer to fix this.

Mar 28, 2022

Got error code P052E when performing state inspection for my car. This looks like "Positive Crankcase Ventilation Regulator Valve" issue and have seen lot of people who owns Mercedes Benz reported this issue.

Mar 10, 2022

Looks like I am not the first one to complain about the strong smell of fuel on the driver side under the hood as well as inside of the vehicle. Upon further inspection it was determined that the fuel line at the pump is leaking fuel. My car has only 48k miles on it...How can such dangerous failure be ignored by MB for more than three-four years or longer?? Please note that this particular issie is leading the complaints chart. Based on the amount of identical complaints, it appears that this "manufacturer" is waiting for an injury or fatality before they do something about it. This fuel hose situation MUST be addressed IMIDIATELY. Please start the recall before it is too late!!!

When I got my Mercedes 2.5 years ago I would always notice a very strong gas smell that would come very randomly. I would have to open my windows for the smell of fuel to go away. I presented this to the Greenway Mercedes Dealership 2X VERBALLY and they told me that it is just a "Mercedes thing" and everything is ok because it is not "VISIBILLY" leaking fuel. Which it was not. However, the smell of the fuel is EXTREME, It would happen to me through out the year (in the summer and winter, regardless of temperature) randomlly. I would have to leave the garage ASAP when I turn on my car just in case the smell of fuel was extreme because my parents would tell me that it would even COME INTO THE HOUSE. I thought I was crazy to think this was normal and just a "Mercedes thing". But then I got a letter on August 2021 and did some research and saw I was not the only one and there is a class action lawsuit -Mercedes sent a letter on August 21 announcing they will extended the limited warranty of the "Fuel hose connected to high pressure fuel pump" from the original warranty of 4 years/50,000 miles to 10 years/120,000 miles. HOWEVER, This does NOT HELP, they are still saying it is a wear and tear and REFUSE to replace the defected MANUFACTORER part and INSIST it is not "seeping fuel" from the connection at the fuel pump, so it is NOT under warranty. I am confused as to why this is not a recall? Extending the warranty did nothing to help Mercedes Owners at all. They continued to claim it is "wear and tear so that is why the fuel is sweeping at a different location" AS WELL, two dealerships told me it would take them 24-48 hours for them to JUST INSPECT my car to see if it is covered. This extension did resolve anything, but made sure the dealerships deny even more. Now, I have to continue to leave my garage within 30 sec. so I don't suffocate the cats that sleep in the garage or have my family smell the fuel as I leave. And to open my windows so I can breath fresh air.

Car has 51,000 miles , no check engine light or any other warning light .driving in on the freeway at 70 mph when I hear a pop sound and my car loses power , I pushed on the gas and it started to shake violently and I panicked as the construction on the freeway was not allowing drivers a shoulder to pull over on . I was lucky enough to be driving at 2am and with the construction going on , drivers were already slowing down . My car also started blowing a thick white smoke through the back exhaust that could have made it harder to see that late night as it was already foggy here in California . At first I didn’t realize I was smoking through the back until my car began smelling like burnt oil . I wasn’t able to get off the freeway until the next exit all while thinking that my car was going to explode from the smell of the burning oil . When I pulled over and got out of the car I made sure I didn’t see any fire and then I waited to let it cool down , opened the hood and saw oil everywhere . I had it towed to Mercedes and I got the problem and the estimated cost to repair it . The problem turned out being a cracked piston in cylinder one , when it cracked it allowed oil to mix with the gasoline and that’s what was causing all the white smoke out the rear , the burnt smell was from the oil that was leaked all over my engine getting too hot from the engine. I found out a few days ago that Mercedes’ has a technical billeting regarding a faulty wrist pin that was causing the pistons to eventually crack . In the bulletin the faulty pin problem is fixed by replacing all the pistons and adding a upgraded pin and many other parts . So there are many other drivers that are experiencing this and driving with faulty wrist pins . Prior to all this happening the car always made a tap tap tap sound from engine and Mercedes’ said it was normal for 4cylinder turbos to make this sound, sounded like a diesel . But it turned out being from the loose wrist pin . Mercedes lied to us . THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THAT MERCEDES BENZ VEHICLE

Constant fuel smell coming from the engine, you can see gas coming out of the high pressure line. When I park in the garage the whole house smells like gas. Even while driving gas smell coming through the vents constantly

Oct 1, 2021

Hi so i woke up this morning and my started my car as usual then noticed the smell of gas all around the car Inside and out. I got worried turned off the car and started sniffing around to see if i can find where the leak was and found out the high pressure fuel pump was leaking i looked up info on this part and it is very common on these car for that part to fail. Im very upset that there is no recall yet when the dealership told me that they do 2-3 of those jobs a week (HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP REPAIRS) and still no recalls on this, what is it going to take to get one?, my car has to blow up to get your guys attention?? Oh wait other Mercedes c300 cars in the united states already caught on fire please fix this saftey hazard i want to feel safe and not worry about catching on fire. ITS BEEN 6 years AND STILL HAVE NO RECALLS FOR THIS CAR ???

Heavy fuel/gasoline smell around engine bay began approximately 2 years ago while the car was still under original 5 year warranty. Fuel smell would persist outside of the vehicle despite the vehicle not being driven for multiple days. When driven, fuel smell would permeate into the cabin of the vehicle and cause mild headaches to the occupants. Taken to dealer to find cause of smell and was advised that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. Fuel smell continues to persist since it was originally noticed without change and vehicle is no longer within warranty period. Recently, this vehicle was taken back to the same dealer for servicing for an unrelated issue. Told the service representative that there was a fuel smell that continues to linger around the vehicle when parked and inside the cabin. This inspection revealed leaks from two fuel lines and technician recommended replacement. Warning lamps, messages, or other indicators from the car never appeared.

SUSPENSION PARTS ARE RUSTING OUT FAST I DON'T LIVE IN A SALTED ROAD FOR BLACK ICE TYPE OF ENVIRONMENT CAR ONLY HAS 66K MILES AND AC POURS FUEL ODORS IN THE CABIN INTERIOR MATERIALS ARE BUBBLING UP FAST EVEN AFTER UV TREATMENTS.

Jan 28, 2021

THERE IS A FUEL HOSE (PARTS NUMBER: 274 070 3500) CONNECT TO THE HIGH PRESSURE PUMP IN FRONT ENGINE AREA. THE FUEL HOSE WAS FASTENED BY A CLAMP (NOT SURE THE PARTS NUMBER) . BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN FLAW, THIS CLAMP WILL LOOSE SINCE IT'S A SNAP JOINT ASSEMBLIES NOT TIGHTEN BY SCREWS. UNDER THIS SITUATION, THE FUEL HOSE WILL LOOSE AND AFFECTED BY THERMAL EXPANSION, THIS PROBLEM WILL CAUSE FUEL LEAK/SEEPING. WE CAN SMELL FUEL NEAR THE PUMP BEFORE WE START CAR IN COLD IN THE MORNING AND THIS SMELL CAN BE SMELLED UNTIL THE ENGINE WORKING INTO THE NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE OR WHEN WE TURN ON THE AC OR HEATER . FUEL IS A VERY CRITICAL SAFETY PROBLEM AND USUALLY WE CANNOT TAKE NOTICE OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM.THIS IS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 11/19/2019 THE DATE WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR TILL NOW

INTERMITTENT FUEL LEAK. REAL BAD GAS SMELL IN CABIN COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. DRIVER SIDE, IN BACK, DOWN BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND BODY. THE FUEL LINES ARE PRESSURIZED, SO IT MIGHT ONLY LEAK WHEN THE PRESSURE BUILDS UP. I KEPT GETTING A STRONG GAS SMELL THE GARAGE AFTER PARKING FOR LONG PERIODS.

GAS LEAK IN FUEL LINE, WHILE RECEIVING AN OIL CHANGE FROM A LICENSED MECHANIC, HE BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT, THERE WAS FUEL LEAKING FROM THE FUEL LINE AND SHOWED (FUEL LINE SOAKED WITH GASOLINE DIRECTLY UNDER THE ENGINE), I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN USING THE AC THE STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE COMES THROUGH THE VENTS.

THIS CAR LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS ON WORKING FINE DRIVING ALONG THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL DID NOTHING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THE ENGINE WAS NOT GETTING GAS. THE ELECTRICAL AND EVERYTHING ELSE WAS ON IN THE CAR EXCEPT THE ENGINE. THE SYSTEM IN THIS CAR HAS A DOUBLE FUEL TANK THAT ONLY WORKS ON ONE SIDE. THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM IS FAULTY. THE MANAGER AT MERCEDES TOLD ME HIMSELF THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THIS CAR. THERE IS NO REASON WHY A CAR WITH 24,000 MILES SHOULD HAVE BROKEN DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. FAULTY AND HORRIBLE WORKMANSHIP ON A SUPPOSED LUXURY VEHICLE.

I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A MULTI POINT INSPECTION AT THE END OF NOVEMBER 2019 TO MERCEDES OF BELLEVUE. I BEGUN SMELLING GASOLINE FROM THE INSIDE CABIN OF MY CAR A FEW DAYS AFTER THE SERVICE AND HAD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY FOUND THAT FUEL HOSES GOING TO THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP TO BE LEAKING FUEL. WITH THIS BEING A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD AND A SAFETY ISSUE, I ARGUED WITH THE DEALER THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, WHICH I STILL HAD A CPO WARRANTY FROM PURCHASING THE VEHICLE FROM THIS SPECIFIC DEALERSHIP. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT, THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE MODEL, 2015 MERCEDES BENZ C300. I AM UNSURE WHY THIS ISSUE IS NOT YET RECALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER OR WHY THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT HONOR THIS ISSUE TTO BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.. AS A CONCERNED CUSTOMER OF THE HAZARDOUS POSSIBILITIES A FUEL LEAK COULD CAUSE, I STILL MOVED FORWARD WITH PAYING FOR THE REPAIR OUT OF POCKET VERSUS CONTINUING TO DEBATE WITH THE FINANCE AND SERVICE PERSONNEL THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY THAT I STILL HAD AT THE TIME.

Feb 6, 2020

THE VEHICLE HAS 67K MILES. I NOTICED A GASOLINE ODOR COMING FROM THE AC A MONTH AGO SINCE THEN, THE ODOR INTENSITY HAS DRASTICALLY INCREASED. THE ODOR USUALLY GOES AWAY AFTER A FEW MILES, HOWEVER, TODAY THE ODOR DID NOT GO AWAY AND I NOTICED AN ONSET OF A HEADACHE SINCE COMMENCING THE DRIVE, I THEN BECAME VERY DROWSY AND WAS VERY CLOSE TO REAR-ENDING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME ON THE WAY HOME, BUT THANKFULLY THE COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM EMITTED A LOUD SOUND AND I WAS ABLE TO REACT IN TIME TO PRESS THE BRAKES AND AVOID THE COLLISION. THERE WAS A RECALL ON 3/10/2015 FOR VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN APRIL 7, 2014, AND JULY 25, 2014, FOR AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL DELIVERY MODULE AND THE TANK, MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED JANUARY 2015, HOWEVER, I BELIEVE THE SAME ISSUE IS CAUSING THE GASOLINE FUMES I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING IN MY VEHICLE AC SYSTEM.

A FEW DAYS AGO, I BEGAN SMELLING A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE WHEN I DROVE MY CAR. THIS WENT ON FOR SEVERAL DAYS, SO I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP. AS SOON AS I DESCRIBED MY PROBLEM TO THE SERVICE STAFF AND BEFORE THEY CHECKED ME IN, THEY ASKED ME IF THE MODEL WAS A MERCEDES C300. WHEN I REPLIED THAT IT WAS, THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD SEEN THIS PROBLEM QUITE OFTEN ON THIS MODEL. GIVEN THE LOW MILEAGE OF 23,115 MILES ON MY CAR, A FUEL LINE LEAK WOULD NOT NORMALLY BE EXPECTED TO OCCUR. CONSIDERING THAT FACT ALONG WITH THE REPORTED COMMONALITY OF THIS ISSUE, I AM CONCERNED THAT, FOR OTHER DRIVERS WITH THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM, THE SYMPTOMS MAY INVOLVE MORE THAN JUST THE SCENT OF GASOLINE AND RESULT IN CAR FIRES OR ACCIDENTS. NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP NOR CORPORATE MERCEDES HAVE BEEN RESPONSIVE TO MY CONCERNS.
