2016 MERCEDES BENZ C300 Unknown Or Other Problems

My 2016 Mercedes Benz C300 started giving off funky fumes last year in 2024, now the fumes have turned into the smell of gas in 2025. Everytime that I call the dealership on Rockside Rd./ Broadway, located in Bedford Ohio, they give me an excuse as to why it's not their responsibility to correct the issue. What can I do?

Upon purchasing my 2016 C300, I starting experiencing a right pull whenever I press on the brakes. I was very concerned as I use this vehicle to assist with dropping and pick up of my 2 grandchildren. The more I drove the car, the more unsafe especially when I attempt to bring my car to a stop. I took the car to a local mechanic and I was advice to take it to a Mercedes dealership. The mechanic also advice that it was an issue with the REAR SUB FRAME. A week later I took the car in to Mercedes as suggested and a day later I received a call and video from Mercedes that the subframe was broken and that is why I am getting that hard pull whenever I brake. Mercedes also stated that the control arm bracket is barely on and it is causing the vehicle to flex.

My car on has 80,000 miles and the camshaft position sprockets needs to be replaced. I went to a Mercedes dealer and this was the diagnostic. This causes the engine light to come on, hesitant engine, low acceleration while driving. The dealer said it will cost $8,000 to be replaced and still can go bad. There was a recall for this issue before. RecallCampaign2015100007

Error Code: P052E Crankcase Ventilation Valve Malfunction. Part was changed before and Engine Light still comes on. Vehicle is available for inspection. Vehicle was inspected by Mercedes Dealership several times. Part is on Backorder Nationwide. Car Does not pass emissions inspection, therefore cannot renew registration either for several months.

On my way to work driving 25 miles per hour I could hear my sunroof moving without me touching the controls . I am terrified the sunroof is going to fly off . After work today my car will stayed park . Merecedes benz needs to make this right . To many complaints on this panoramic sunroof on this year of car .

On [XXX] I was on my way home from running errands and proceeded to open my panoramic sunroof using the button inside of my car. When I arrived home, I pressed the button again to close the sunroof. As it began closing and went into the forward position, once it reached the top of my roof, the back of the sunroof would not go down back into place. This left the sunroof open in the venting position. On [XXX], I went to RBM of Atlanta where I purchased the vehicle [XXX] to report and resolve the issue. The service center was rude and brushed off my concerns. They were able to manually close the sunroof as a temporary fix and informed me not to use the sunroof button, but they were unable to assist with my diagnostic or repair inquires. However, one of the service employees advised that this was a common issue that was previously recalled. I immediately contacted MBUSA where I was connected to a Sales rep at RBM of Atlanta who also informed me that this was a common issue. Today, 07/24/2024, I went to a diagnostic appt. at RBM of Alpharetta and was told by the service advisor that there had been at least 9 recalls for this issue and my sunroof has all of the defective parts that were supposed to be replaced when these recalls took place. He also informed me that I should have been advised of this issue before the vehicle was sold to me. I have attempted to resolve the issue with RBM on five different occasions to no avail. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I believe this issue puts myself and others at risk because if the entire sunroof is defective, it can detach at anytime and possibly hit and injure someone while I'm driving, which would make me liable. As stated previously, I have received confirmation that my sunroof is defective and should have been added to one of the several recalls. The last multi-point inspection was done nearly a year before I bought the car and a repair diagnosis was done today. There were no other signs. Panoramic sunroof has not worked since I bought my car. Today it started making a weird sound . My sunshade started opening and closing on its own . I have had enough with this sunroof . I feel is no longer safe . There needs to be a recall on it . I have seen other complaints about the sunroofs . I don’t want my sunroof to fly off and cause and injuries to anyone !

The vehicle is not passing emission inspection because the Positive Crank Case Valve/Ventilation failed to work after 48K miles.

I opened my panoramic sunroof it didn’t open all the way and slammed shut . It didn’t break but if it had there would have been injuries. This is a known problem with this years car . And it needs to corrected .

While driving on the highway, I tried to open my panoramic sunroof, it made a grinding sound and was stuck in the open position with one corner for the sunroof slanted higher than the other. I was afraid that the sunroof would shatter or that the wind would blow off components. Afterward, the sunroof would not close even after I took it to the dealership. They informed me that they could not close the sunroof and my only option was to repair it for $4,000 or buy another car. After looking at the costs of replacement cars, I decided to pay for the repairs out of pocket. I found on multiple reddit and mercedes forums that this is a common issue in Mercedes C class vehicles made on and around 2016. My service advisor told me that he has so many customers from these panoramic sunroofs failing due to a cost cutting measure from Mercedes who decided to use plastic tracks instead of metal. He also informed me that they went back to metal a few years after my car was manufactured. This leads me to believe that Mercedes acknowledged the issue and is trying to hide it from NHTSA. I was taking my son to work and I heard my sunroof open and close when the controls were not being touched . I’m afraid if it opens and it closes on its own that it could fly off my car and hit someone else’s car and possibly injure some one .

Ac/heater smells like mold/musty/mildew inside the cabin. Took for the extended warranty but will not honor unless you have proof of cabin filters purchased every year. This is their way of finding a loop of not fixing the issue.

My panoramic sunroof has an extreme amount wind coming through it while driving 40 miles per hour . I can also hear my panoramic sunroof sliding back and forth . I’m terrified that that it will fly off while driving and cause a road hazard .

In the past few months while driving this car in the Washington DC metro area at normal road speed, the car has suddenly and unexpectedly lost driver power. Each time, I have pushed down on the gas pedal, and after some hesitation the car has moved forward, and then continued to operate normally. This has happened three times in the past 3-4 months.

Had to have crankcase ventilation system replacement at 74k miles. $2,032.98 to replace. Did get a check engine light.

My check engine light popped on with code p052E for the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Regulator Valve Performance.

Check engine light comes up. The crankcase ventilation has to be replaced. This is a well known defect in design by Mercedes Benz and there are hundreds of people who have had to replaced the crank case costing thousands of dollar to only have it happen again due to its faulty design. It’s well documented all over the Internet.

My sunroof shade is stuck open which makes my extremely hot . I’ve been burned twice by my seat . My car has 93,000 miles .

The code P052E reads at only 49.000 miles....Mercedes wants $3000.00 to repait ir (replace PCV valve ). Car runs and drives normally....its probably a faulty sensor. I have seen a lot of posts with owners havins same issue.

The small plastic located inside the sliding panoramic sunroof explode and the Panasonic sunroof can be open/close or up/down normally but when I hit close it will stop where the broken pieces was and the roof will automatically move back to the fully open position Dealer said need the rail replaced -2057800175 -2057800275 Motor is broken, need to be replaced , he said after saying the roof can go forward and backward, up and down but can’t close completely. I was gullible to believe what the technician and sale guy said. Technically technician can check the voltage and say it for sure if it is broken. Also, a technician already knew that the sliding rail is damaged. He jumped to the conclusion that motor is broken because of sunburn. I have asked my nephew what he would do in this situation. He innocently said he would replace new sliding rails first and try to run if the “alleged motor “ is really broken. If it is broken, he can just switch to a new motor before testing to confirm it working. He wouldn’t decide to buy a new motor that cost $1,400 extra while the old one might be working properly. Anyway, labor with rails and “motor” cost $3500. Then later I learn I’m not alone. How many affected from this defective parts that Mercedes doesn’t sell it separately. Owner must buy 2 set of rails- a left set and a right set. Cost $1100 total. I bought my 2016 merecedes Benz c 300 4 matic with an engine light on . I took it the dealership and is the positive crankshaft failed . The crankshaft could reduce power on car . At 73000 mile the crankshaft should have not failed .

This car is currently stolen out of bishopville south Carolina.

the Burl wood trim panel on the interior doors are deteriorating , the drivers side panel is deteriorating to the point that it looks like acid is eating away at the material there is red markings showing .. i find this could be a safety hazard as it could eat away at the door itself. i have pictures of evidence. there was a recall on Mercedes E class during the same years i purchased my car, my car is the C-class which was not part of the recall, but falls into the same category as time frame of purchase. I took my 2016 Benz through a car wash and realized the glass in front of my sunroof that is part of windshield is loose . I can hear wind coming through when I drive . This is driving hazard .

The check engine light came on. I pulled the code and it was P052E, and requires the replacement of the crankcase ventilation system. I am told that this happens on virtually all C300s and (and maybe the GLC300 also). I think this should be recalled.

Check engine light came in so I took it to a local auto shop. They ran the diagnostics and the code that appeared was P052E(Positive Crankcase Ventilation Regulation Valve Performance).

I was moving my car from one parking space to another space in front of my house. As I was pulling into the new space, I stopped to check the position of my car. As I lifted my foot off the brake, the car unexpectedly started to lurch forward. When I released the brake pedal, the car suddenly accelerated and proceeded to jump the curb and run into the front of my house. Luckily, no one was injured. There was some damage to the exterior of my house. I have reported this issue to the car manufacturer, Mercedes Benz. In response, they have opened a case to research it further.

Check Engine light came on. Upon running the scan from three different reputed repair shops, they show same P052e Positive Crankcase ventilation valve replace message. It first came two months back, reset the code but it still came up.

Hello, I have 2016 Mercedes Benz c300(W205). Recently I got a Check Engine Light with P052E71. And the solution is to replace the Crankcase Ventilation Valve/Oil Separator, Intake Manifold. These parts are positioned on the right side bottom of the engine. It was a labor intensive work which required to remove multiple parts to gain access to the oil Separator. Considering the Issue Persists from W205 and Mercedes Benz has not done anything to rectify it, the cost is actually burdened upon the customer.

After locking car and walking away, engine starts, lights go on, and car doors become unlocked.

I was driving my 2016 MB C300 on a clear sunny day (approx 85 degrees outside) going around 50 mph when out of nowhere my pano sunroof exploded (extremely terrifying sound might I add!)! I never open my sunroof and it did not have any chips or cracks at all so there is no explanation. Almost the entire sunroof shattered! Mind you I was driving on an open road (no trees, overpasses, bridges, etc). No cars in front of me and closest car was around 1/4 behind me. Shards of glass fell on top of me and went all over the interior of my car. I almost drove off the road and could have gotten glass in my eyes! After inspecting, it almost appears as if the glass exploded outwards. This is a major safety concern and needs to be addressed ASAP by Mercedes Benz before someone gets killed!

The system that failed is the rear backup camera. The dash screen becomes black after initiating the car into reverse. The screen also glitches green and other times black. I have also received a “no camera” circle behind my rear backup camera with the 360 degree camera. I cannot use my rear backup camera as designed because of the issue. Even putting the vehicle back in park and then back to reverse does not remove the issue. This has happened on multiple occasions just this week. This started this week in my car. 1/21/2022 was the first time it happened. It has happened every day since and multiple times. I have photos and videos of the issue. The photos are attached to this report of the safety issue. I am unable to upload the video but can send upon request to an email.

Mercedes-Benz comes with ECO Start/Stop feature. This feature automatically activates when you start the vehicle and have your seat belt fastened with the door closed. When this function is activated, your vehicle’s engine will shut off when you are at a complete stop, like at a stoplight or in standstill traffic. Once it’s time to start moving again, the vehicle’s engine will automatically restart as soon as you lift your foot off the brake. Randomly experiencing an issue with this feature, vehicle will not restart or it will shutdown in the middle of the road, on the busy road or freeway, it is very unsafe or dangerous. In last two years, we experienced this issue for at least 10 times, at least 5 times vehicle was towed to Mercedes Benz service center in Pleasanton, CA. They replaced the battery, starter, relay but issue still exists and service center also do not have any clue on how to resolve this issue. Reported this issue to Mercedes Benz Customer Support but response has not been favorable. I am not the only one facing this issue, several people reported this issue on online blogs, online channels and discussion boards. Mercedes Benz is ignoring the issue and not serious on addressing it. I request NTSB to investigate this issue, it is risky and dangerous. I personally had couple of close calls with other vehicles rear ending, and I am sure others must have found in this situation. Appreciate your help. My car's stationary roof panel (part no. 205-780-00-22) that's located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof started to come off while driving. The panel started to flick off and I had to tape it temporarily, so it doesn't fly off when driving. It looks like the adhesive holding the panel gave out on the driver’s side. Panel was previously replaced at Mercedes Benz of Tysons Corner.

while driving on a highway a part of my roof panoramic fell risking my life and other people's life, I then sent an email to Mercedes Benz and they told me that this part is a subject of a recall. I took the car for two days and they told me that the part is not available for the moment and they need to order it from Germany with no ETA but at least 2 weeks. I asked them if I can safely drive without that part and they said it is ok. Yesterday while driving under light rain, water went in the car through the roof and through the missing part place onto the dashboard. And suddenly the panoramic roof opened alone and did not want to close while I was driving on the highway under the rain. I had to leave my car with an open roof. This roof issue is a repercussion of that item subject of the recall in addition to telling me that driving was safe without that part and turned out to be unsafe. THE TIRES SUPPLIED ON THIS CAR ARE UNSUITABLE FOR INTENDED USE. LOW PROFILE TIRES ARE EASILY DAMAGED BY POTHOLES (WE LIVE IN CHICAGO) AND WITHOUT CONSTANT INSPECTION FOR "BUBBLES" PRESENT A HAZARD. THIS CAR IS TWO YEARS OLD WITH 8800 MILES ON IT AND IS ON IT'S 4TH FRONT TIRE. IN AS THIS IS HOW THE CAR COMES, AND THE DEALER AS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THEY HAVE CLEARLY SOLD TIRES THAT ARE IN THE LONG RUN NOT SAFE.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AND THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF ON MY MERCEDES C300 EXPLODED. I SAY "EXPLODED" BECAUSE NOTHING STRUCK THE GLASS AND MOST OF THE GLASS BLEW OUT AND OFF THE CAR, NOT IN. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME, SO THERE WAS NO WIND PRESSURE. AFTER I STOPPED, YOU CAN EVEN SEE WHERE THE GLASS REMAINING IS STICKING UP, NOT DOWN. THE SHADE WAS OPEN SO GLASS DID FALL INTO MY CAR, CUTTING MY ARM. IF KIDS OR OTHERS WERE IN THE CAR, IT WOULD LIKELY HAVE CUT THEM OR COULD HAVE RESULTED IN GLASS DUST IN THEIR EYES, ETC. IT ALSO COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BY SCARING ME BUT ALSO SINCE MUCH OF IT BLEW OFF MY CAR, IT PUT THE CARS BEHIND ME IN DANGER AND COULD HAVE CAUSED THEM TO CRASH. MERCEDES HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY OF THIS YET, BUT I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THEIR ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY A LITTLE OVER 1 YEAR OLD AND ONLY ABOUT 17,000 MILES ON IT.
