Air bag notice on monitor, Passenger front seat locked in forward position up to the dashboard..
The contact owns a 2012 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated that the front driver's side and passenger's side air bags warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the headrest deployed inadvertently. No further information was provided. The message "Pre-safe Inoperable - Check Owner's Manual" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact of an unknown passenger's side air bag recall repair that was previously performed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

Stopped at a stop sign and the passenger side seat headrest deployed. Luckily no one was sitting in the seat at the time. This car has the Neck Pro Active Front Head Restraints. The plastic that holds the headrest in place fails after time. There is a class action lawsuit against Mercedes and the manufacturer of the plastic piece Gammer I believe. This failure has caused injuries to people that have been sitting in the seat at the time of deployment for no reason. This is a safety hazard as if it goes off while driving can cause you to loose control of the car and injure anyone in the car as well as other people if you were to get in an accident with another vehicle. This should be a recall.
There was a recall on my front passenger air bag that was replaced around February 2020, based on a recall. The other day my Front Right Passenger Air Bag Malfunction Warning Signal appeared on the dash board. After bringing it into Mercedes Benz - I was notified that my Passenger Right Side Air Bag needed replacement. I was told it would cost $1,800 to replace. Shouldn't this be a part of the Air Bag Recall?

THE RECALL NOTICE STATES THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE BY DECEMBER 31, 2018. AS OF TODAY FEBRUARY 17, 2018, OVER 1 YEAR LATER, THE NHTSA WEBSITE SAYS "RECALL INCOMPLETE, REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE." THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I BOUGHT A MERCEDES WITH THE IMPRESSION THAT MERCEDES STANDS BEHIND ITS HIGH SAFETY RATING AND CRASH TEST RATING.
