The contact owns a 2015 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at various speeds, the steering wheel became difficult to steer in either direction. No warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure NHTSA Campaign: 16V899000(Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 42 MPH, THE BLIND STOP DETECTION MONITORING SYSTEM AND OTHER UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS MALFUNCTIONED. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN TO THE RIGHT. ALSO, WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE AND CAUSED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. HEAD UNIT CENTER CONSOLE MADE A LOUD "A BALL ROLLING AROUND" NOISE WITH 24 HOURS OF BUYING THE CAR. RADIO WOULD INTERMITTENTLY WORK. CLOCK WOULD NOT KEEP TIME. THESE THREE ITEMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT KEEP MEMORY. ENGINE COOLING FAN WOULD RUN FOR HOURS AFTER VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND PARKED. THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. FRONT TRIM PANEL FOR BUMPER WAS NOT ALIGNED.
