The contact owns a 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK350. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the airbags warning light illuminated and remained illuminated. The contact stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V010000 (Air Bags). The local dealer was contacted but provided no assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

My 2010 glk 350 4matic first while taking my daughter to school one day my dashboard lights up and start making a alert sound ,my dashboards reads steering wheel malfunction/abs/ebs brake inoperative. Had it diagnosed and service tech couldn't find the problem related to this . He try to get me to fix my sterring wheel pump and coolant fan!! Idk I didn't let the device tech do any work . I saw on you tube how to do a left right sterring wheel and the service code disappeared it been two weeks and it hasn't came on all.now I got another service code srs airbag 2 malfunction/inoperative!! .when car is on it shows that air bag 2 isn't on !! This has to be a manufacturer error since not even the service tech knew what exactly trigger this to show on my dashboard.

IN A RECENT LETTER MERCEDES INDICATED THAT "[MY] SAFETY IS OF UTMOST CONCERN TO MERCEDES BENZ". I RECEIVED A 3RD NOTICE IN DEC 2017 STATING I WAS PRIORITY GROUP 4 WITH PARTS EXPECTED IN MAR 2108. THAT WAS FOLLOWED BY ONE IN JAN 2108 CHANGING ME TO PRIORITY GROUP 6 WITH EXPECTED PARTS IN SEPT 2018. TODAY I RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTICE, FEB 2019, CHANGING IT FROM A NHTSA RECALL TO A MBUSA RECALL # 2019010001 - PHASE 4, WITH NO EXPECTED PARTS DATE, BUT THEIR WEBSITE SAYS SEP 2019. THIS RECALL WAS ALMOST 3 YEARS AGO AND MERCEDES BENZ SEEMS TO BE DRAGGING THEIR FEET. WHAT DOES THE GOVERNMENT CONSIDER A "REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME"? MERCEDES BENZ IS MAKING AND SELLING CARS EVERYDAY WITH OK AIRBAGS. MERCEDES HAS TOLD ME THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS, I CAN COME IN AND THEY WILL TURN THE SENSOR OFF AND CHARGE ME FOR THE LABOR. THEY SENT ME NOTIFICATION TELLING ME IT WAS AFFECTED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 2 YEARS.

SERVICE ADVISOR INITIALLY TOLD ME TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC PRIOR TO MOVING FORWARD, BUT AFTER I INSISTED THAT THE ISSUE WAS RELATED TO A RECALL NOTICE, I WAS TOLD THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SRS MODULE WOULD BE FREE OF CHARGE. AFTER COMPLETED, ADVISOR SHOWED ME THAT THE WARNING WAS NO LONGER ACTIVE AS THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED; AS SOON AS I LEFT THE LOT, THE SRS WARNING REAPPEARED SO I RETURNED. SERVICE ADVISOR INSTRUCTED ME TO THEN PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AS PREVIOUSLY SUGGESTED BECAUSE IT WAS UNRELATED TO THE RECALL. SERVICE ADVISOR, ROGER, WOULD NOT INSPECT VEHICLE ANY FURTHER WITHOUT COLLECTING PAYMENT. ON THE DRIVE HOME, CAR WAS SMOKING; DISCOVERED OIL ALL OVER THE ENGINE ONCE I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION (OIL CHANGE PERFORMED AS WELL). THE SERVICE TEAM SAID THERE IS NO ETA FOR REPLACEMENT AND COULD BE UP TO 2 YEARS. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO CHECK OUT PRE- OWNED VEHICLES AND REACHED A DEAL THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND WITH THE SALES TEAM WITH A TRADE IN VALUE AND PROVIDED DOWN PAYMENT.. THE MANAGER OF THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME HIS SALES WAS WORN IN THEIR ESTIMATE AND HE NEEDS TO REDUCE THE TRADE IN VALUE BY 3700 $ DUE TO THE AIRBAGS. THEY SOLD THE VEHICLE AT FULL PRICE, CANNOT FIX IT FOR 2 YEARS BUT WANT TO REDUCE THE PRICE FOR TRADE IN. MBUSA NEEDS TO EITHER FIX IT TIMELY OR GIVE FAIR TRADE IN VALUE FOR A FAULT THAT WAS DUE TO MBUSA. THE DEALERS ARE BLEEDING THE OWNERS OF DEFECTIVE VEHICLES AND TAKING ADVANTAGE.

RECEIVED RECALL LETTER FOR SRS CONTROL UNIT. MADE APPOINTMENT ON APRIL 19 TO REMEDY RECALL. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO MERCEDES DEALER IN BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI, GOT RIDE BACK TO WORK. BENZ DEALER CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART TO REMEDY RECALL AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHICH PART THEY NEEDED UNTIL AFTER THEY BEGAN WORKING ON MY VEHICLE. SO, I HAD TO GET A RIDE BACK TO THE DEALER AND GOT MY CAR BACK. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME IN 5 WEEKS WHEN THE PART CAME IN. THEY NEVER CALLED ME. ON JUNE 21 I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THE PART WASN'T IN AND THEY WERE GOING TO PUT THE ORDER IN AGAIN. THEY SAID MERCEDES ISN'T MAKING THE PARTS FAST ENOUGH. THE MESSAGE LIGHT COMPLETELY LIT UP SEVERAL TIMES AND WARNED THAT THE SRS CONTROL WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE GREAT HARM IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT OR SUDDEN STOP. I WAS VERY AFRAID DURING THIS RETURN TRIP AND WAS HAPPY I WAS LESS THAN AN HOUR FROM HOME. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE MB DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO DISCUSS A MONETARY REFUND AND WAS TOLD THAT I MUST WAIT FOR A SECOND LETTER BEFORE THEY COULD ISSUE OR DISCUSS A REFUND FOR THE REPLACEMENT REPAIR I PAID FOR.
