I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN OCTOBER 2013, OWNING IT FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS I NOTICED WHERE SNOW HAD STARTED MELTING I COULD SOMETHING GREY AND REALIZED THAT THE PAINT WAS PEELING AND I COULD SEE WHAT I THOUGHT WAS PRIMER OR SOMETHING I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BOB BOYD IN LANCASTER, OHIO SINCE MY CAR WAS STILL WARRANTY WITH THEM WHICH THAT GOT ME KNOW WHERE. THEN I CALLED THE FORD CUSTOMER LINE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE PAINT. *TR

PAINT CRACKED AND LIFTED FROM 3 SPOTS ON FRONT OF ROOF, FRONT FENDER AND REAR PANEL AREA BELOW ROOF. IN ALL THREE INSTANCES, THE PAINT HAS SEPARATED FROM THE BODY LEAVING AREA EXPOSED TO RUST. PAINT IN QUESTION IS PALM BEACH EDITION BIRCHWOOD SILVER. A NUMBER OF EXPERIENCED BODY PAINTERS REPORT THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM PECULIAR TO THIS COLOR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXHIBITING RUST, CAUSING THE PAINT TO PEEL FROM THE HOOD AND ROOF AREAS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE PEELING PAINT WOULD HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND DISTRACT THE DRIVER, WHICH THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER, WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE PAINT WAS DELAMINATING AND NEEDED TO BE REPAINTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. FIRST THE PAINT STARTED PEALING ON DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I THOUGHT IT WAS TAPE BECAUSE THE WINDOW WAS BROKEN, AND I HAD TO PUT PLASTIC OVER THE WINDOW UNTIL GLASS DEALER COULD GET WINDOW. NOW THE HOOD IS PEELING TOO. THE COLOR IS SILVER METALLIC IT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN MASSACHUSETTS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND ADVISED HIM THAT THE PAINT WAS DELAMINATING AND NEEDED TO BE REPAINTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WON'T ASSIST UNLESS THE ROOF HAS TOTALLY RUSTED THROUGH. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.

IT IS DOWN TO BARE METAL NO PRIMER, NOT SHOWING SIGNS OF RUST YET. 08/08/10, OUR GRAND MARQUIS IS A 2007 SILVER/GREY IN COLOR. WE LIVE IN NC. OTHERWISE WE LOVE THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE HAD NO OTHER PROBLEMS. *TR

PAINT FAILURE WHERE THE TOP MEETS THE MAIN BODY. THE PAINT BLISTERS AND THEN PEELS OFF. I BELIEVE IT IS THE TOP COAT FAILING; IT LOOKS LIKE THE PRIMER IS INTACT. I SEE NO RUST, BUT THAT MAY BE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE SHEET METAL IS ALUMINUM INSTEAD OF STEEL. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO GROW AND IS SPREADING OUT. I SUSPECT THAT THE PAINT APPLICATION ATG FORD IS FLAWED. *TR

THE PAINT ON MY 2007 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS STARTED PEELING OFF IN MARCH 2009, IT IS HAPPENING AROUND THE GRILL. THIS IS CLEARLY A PAINT DEFECT, AS STATED BY A LOCAL BODY SHOP. IN ORDER TO REPAIR, PAINT HAS TO BE GRINDED DOWN TO BARE METAL AS PAINT PRIMER DID NOT BOND WITH METAL PROPERLY. COST TO REPAINT CAR IS ESTIMATED AT $300. THIS SAME PROBLEM WAS SEEN IN EARLIER MODEL FORD AND MERCURY VEHICLES. IT IS CAUSE BY CONTAMINATION ON THE ALUMINUM PARTS BEFORE THEY ARE PAINTED. A TSB WAS ISSUED TO FIX THIS ON THE EARLIER VEHICLES. *TR

WHEN I GO TO APPLY THE BRAKES, IF MY FOOT IS NOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL JUST RIGHT MY FOOT ENDS UP ON THE GAS PEDAL AND MY CAR LUNGES FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED QUIT A FEW TIMES SINCE I OWNED THIS CAR. I FEEL THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. I DON'T KNOW IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS, BUT I FEEL IT IS A REAL PROBLEM AND COULD CAUSE ME TO WRECK MY CAR. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE DRIVING OVER 50 MPH WITH THE ALL WINDOWS DOWN, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWO TIMES DUE TO THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED WAS IN NOVEMBER OF 2007. THE CONTACT INFORMED THEM THAT THE WINDOWS WERE DOWN WHEN THE FAILURE TO OCCURED, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FORD REP STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO WIND TURBULENCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,400 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,500. UPDATED 6/2/08 *CN THE CONSUMER ALSO FELT A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT.
