The power steering assist is malfunctioning and it is available for inspection upon request. The steering wheel is very difficult to turn, it's as if the power steering assist is keeping the wheel from turning. No, but I spoke to someone at Ford and they said that it sounded like my car should be in the recall that was announced for my vehicle type but my VIN was not included in the recall. My car has not been inspected by anyone but it says right on the dash board digital display that there is a "Power Steering Assist Fault". Ford does this with many vehicles they recall, a lot of vehicles that should be included in the recalls are not and we're supposed to foot the bill for their lack of concern for public safety? It's going to cause an accident but it's my only working car and I can't afford to pay for their mistakes. How many have died due to their negligence I'm wondering.

I recently purchase 2010 Mercury Mariner. There is a few errors appearing on the screen in front of the steering wheel. One of the error is "CHECK FUEL LINES." It also has an error about the tire pressure sensor. It also rides roughly, but the wheels are like new, so it feels like the suspension or shocks have something wrong with them. Also, there is a lot of play in the steering wheel when driving it. When I went to check on the recalls in the system by putting in my VIN, it shows that there are no recalls on my vehicle. However, these errors and issues are connected to the recalls for my vehicle. I am sure that these recalls have not been taken care of for this vehicle and they need to be fixed.

My steering column started shaking uncontrollably I noticed that the steering was harder and harder to steer and then it went out completely after my steering wheel was vibrating at a very high speed and shaking and controllably and making weird noises 5 minutes later my entire power steering went out I am now forced to drive my vehicle because I have another choice and I have a bad although which is now worse because of the steering my vehicle and the steering being out has messed with my starter it has messed with my brace and it has made my water pump belt fray which almost has broken off my AC compressor does not work my car is just not safe

"Power Steering Assist Fault" message appeared, and the steering became stiff, indicating the power steering stopped working. This happened while coming down from a snowy mountain pass, which put myself, my passengers, and other vehicles at risk. Even though there was a 2014 recall for this problem, I was told by Ford dealership that there were no open recalls on my car (indicating it was either fixed and broke again, or my car was never included in the recall-- as I purchased the vehicle secondhand, I am unsure which it is). It will be a $1200 fix fat this Ford dealership for a known and dangerous problem that should, but won't, be covered by the previous recall. There should be an easier way to track fixed recalls through the NHTSA Vin lookup program.

SO AFTERWARDS I LEFT ON MY MERRY WAY KNOWING THAT I WOULD NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS ISSUE AGAIN! WRONG! IS THERE ANYTHING FORD CAN DO TO BACK UP WHAT THEY SAID? MY VEHICLE IS A FEW MONTHS SHY IF MEETING THE DATE IN WHICH THESE MERCURY'S WERE RECALLED. I THINK IT'S A HUGE SAFETY RISK. AND BEINGS IN A SINGLE MOTHER OF 2 LITTLE GIRLS I THINK MAYBE MY MERCURY SHOULD BE FIXED. MINE IS LEGIT MESSED UP. I CAN BARLEY TURN IT. I HAVE A 2010 MERCURY MARINER. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING. I DIDN'T GET IT TAKEN IN RIGHT AWAY, JUST TOOK IT IN DECEMBER 2018 FOR OIL CHANGE AND HAD DEALERSHIP TAKE CARE OF RECALL ALSO. THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE BUT THAT IS WHEN MY TROUBLE STARTED WITH THE POWER STEERING. STEERING WHEEL HAD A TWITCH, SHAKING BY ITSELF WHILE CAR WAS RUNNING AT IDLE. WHEN THE SHAKING GOT REAL BAD I TOOK IT TO DEALER MARCH 7 2019 TO BE FIXED UNDER RECALL FOR POWER STEERING ASSIST LOSS. THE RECALL STARTED JULY 25 2014 WITH NO END DATE OF RECALL. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T FIX IT UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE FORD SAID IT HAD BEEN TO LONG AFTER THE RECALL. BASICALLY THEY WERE SAYING THE RECALL WAS OUTDATED. THEY TOLD ME I COULD HAVE IT FIXED FOR $800 OUT OF POCKET. A RECALL SHOULD NEVER BE OUTDATED BUT GO THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. EVERY VEHICLE IS DIFFERENT WHEN THE THE PART GOES BAD AFTER A RECALL HAPPENS. MINE WAS ALMOST 5 YEARS AFTER RECALL STARTED. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE YOUR POWER STEERING GOES OUT IF NOT FIXED AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TWITCHING. MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT 2 DAYS AFTER I HAD TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT FIXED FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A REAL RECALL. APPARENTLY FORD HAS FAKE RECALLS. WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR VEHICLE IN THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT BECAUSE THEY SAY WHAT RECALL. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHEN I STOPPED TO GET GAS. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AFTER GETTING GAS IT WAS GONE. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER MARCH 14 2019. I LET THEM KNOW WHAT MY ISSUE WAS. THEY DID THERE RESEARCH AND CALLED ME BACK MARCH 15 2019 ONLY TO LET ME KNOW THAT THE UPDATE THE DEALERSHIP DID IN DECEMBER 2018 WAS THE FIX. IT WAS ONE AND DONE. THEY WERE NOT DOING ANYTHING ELSE, THEY TOLD ME. SO THE UPDATE CANCELLED OUT THE REAL FIX OF CHANGING THE TORQUE SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHICH 2 DAYS LATER LEFT ME WITHOUT POWER STEERING.

MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART. HOWEVER, SOMEHOW MY VIN IS NOT SHOWING THIS RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE EXACT YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL AFFECTED. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT TURNS OUT THAT FORD ONLY RECALLED A FRACTION OF THE VEHICLES THAT WAS MANUFACTURED WITH THIS FAULTY PART. HOW ARE THEY ONLY ACCOUNTABLE FOR SOME OF THE VEHICLES AFFECTED? CLEARLY I HAVE THE SAME FAULTY PART IN MY VEHICLE. I'VE CALLED EVERY DEALERSHIP IN THE VALLEY TRYING TO FIND INFORMATION ON WHY IT IS A "LOTTERY" ON WHO GETS THE RECALL FIXED AND WHO DOESN'T. POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE BUT I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO A SAFE AREA. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF FOR 15 MINUTES AND RESTARTING THE LACK OF POWER STEERING REMAINED, BUT THERE WAS NOW A MESSAGE SAYING "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". THIS CAR HAS SEVERAL OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH REGARD TO THE A/C & BLOWER, AND ALSO THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND DOME LIGHTS WORK SPORADICALLY.

MY 2010 MERCURY MARINER I RECENTLY PURCHASED SUDDENLY BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER REQUIRING ALOT OF EFFORT TO TURN THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. I LATER FOUND A SAFETY RECALL ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE THAT STATED THIS COULD HAPPEN WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THAT FORD WOULD REPAIR THE PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE. WHEN I CALLED FORD/LINCOLN THEY SAID THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN LOOKED AT A FEW MONTHS AGO AND HAD NOT DISPLAYED THIS PROBLEM AS OF THEN SO NO PARTS WERE REPLACED. NOW THAT IT ACTUALLY HAS DISPLAYED THE LACK OF STEERING PROBLEM THAT THE RECALL STATES IT COULD, FORD SAYS THEY DON'T HAVE TO FIX IT NOW BECAUSE THEY ALREADY LOOKED AT IT BEFORE IT DID IT... WHAT??? I AM HOPING YOU AT THE NHTSA WILL HELP ME TO GET FORD TO FOLLOW THROUGH ON HONORING THEIR SAFETY RECALL WITH MY VEHICLE AS THE RECALL STATES THAT FORD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF REPAIRS TO FIX THIS ISSUE WITH THE STEERING THAT MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING. A MALFUNCTION OF THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, I CANT STEER MY VEHICLE.IT IS DIFFICULT TO STEER AND CONTROL THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING AND THE STEERING START WOBBLING AND MAKING NOISE VIBRATING AND THE STEERING GO REAL STIFF. I CALLED THE RECALL DEPARTMENT THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A RECALL ON THE TORQUE SENSOR OR PSCM JULY 2014 TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO GET APPROVAL TO LET THEM KNOW , I DID THEY CHECKED IT OUT SAID IT WAS THE TORQUE SENSOR, CALLED FORD TO GET APPROVAL BECAUSE IT WAS ON THE RECALL LIST, WAS DENIED. I DON'T UNDERSTAND YOU SAID IF THIS PROBLEM SHOWS A HISTORY LOSS OF THE TORQUE SENSOR SIGNAL OR FAIL CODES RELATING TO THE PSCM WHEN I BROUGHT IN FOR THE RECALL REMEDY, THE AFFECTED COMPONENTS WILL BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. YOU TOLD ME THE RECALL WAS JULY 2014 AND AT THAT TIME YOU RESET THE PSCM AND CLUSTER MODULE. THAT DIDNOT FIX THE PROBLEM ONLY PUT A BANDAID ON THE REAL PROBLEM. I DID NOT OWN MY VEHICLE IN 2014. THIS IS HAPPENING AGAIN. AFTER THE FIRST RECALL. ANOTHER RECALL. WHY WONT YOU FIX IT MY ARMS SHOULDER NECK AND HEAD ARE INJURED BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT FIX WHAT IS A PART THAT CONSISTANTLY BREAK DOWN OR MALFUNCTION THAT'S HAPPENING OVER AND OVER. ORIGINAL OWNER: THE VEHICLE WOULD WAS PARKED WITHOUT ISSUE YESTERDAY. BACKED IT UP THIS MORNING AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. SHUT IT OFF AND TRIED AGAIN AND THERE WAS STILL NO POWER STEERING. ON THE THIRD ATTEMPT, THE POWER STEERING RETURNED AND I VERY CAUTIOUSLY DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE WERE NO ERROR MESSAGES DISPLAYED OR WARNINGS WHILE IT WAS OUT. (CHANGE OIL REMINDER WAS LIT). DEALERSHIP RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND TRIED TO RECREATE THE ISSUE WITHOUT PROBLEMS. THIS VEHICLE WAS BUILT IN THE KANSAS CITY PLANT DURING THE TIME OF THE RECALL FROM OCT 2014, BUT FOR SOME REASON, THE VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. AUTHORIZED FORD DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED "BASED ON CONCERN ONLY" TO "REPLACE THE ELEC. STEERING TORQUE SENSOR AND RECALIBRATION." MY TORQUE SENSOR FAILED AFTER RECALL 14S05 WAS PERFORMED. THIS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT GOING 70 MPH ON I70 BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WENT INTO MANUAL MODE WITH NO WARNING. HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO LARRY H MILLER FORD FOR SERVICE FOUND BAD TORQUE SENSOR WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED WITH THE RECALL. I HAVE TRIED TO WORK WITH FORD AND HAVE HAD NO LUCK WITH ANY RESOLUTION AND I AM GETTING THE RUN AROUND. FROM DOING MY RESEARCH, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE AND I DO BELIEVE FORD HAS NOT MET THEIR OBLIGATION TO THIS RECALL. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I HAD NOT BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR THE RECALL I MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT. SO IF I HAD LET IT GO THEY WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. BUT, BECAUSE I HAD THE RECALL ADDRESSED IT'S MY PROBLEM. DO NOT THINK FORD IS FIXING THE PROBLEM THEY ARE PUTTING A BANDAGE ON IT. FORD'S RECALL FIX, ONLY RE-FLASHED THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE AND DID NOT PROVIDE A HARDWARE FIX FOR THE TORQUE SENSOR ITSELF, WHICH FAILED FOR A SECOND TIME.
