STARTED MY CAR UP AND IT SAID POWER STEERING FAILED..I CUT THE CAR OFF AND WAITED THEN IT WENT OFF...AS I WAS HEADED TO WORK THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE..I PULLED INTO THE STORE TURNED THE CAR OFF A WHILE AND STARTED IT BACK UP THE LIGHT WENT OFF BEFORE LEAVING WORK THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE POPPED BACK UP I ONCE AGAIN TURNED OFF THE CAR FOR A WHILE...I MANAGE TO MAKE IT HOME BUT A MILE FROM MY HOUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT ONCE AGAIN CAME ON.. PLEASE CHECK INTO THIS..I LOVE MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF MY LOVED ONES DRIVING LIKE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK FRACTURED AND LEAKED FUEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR FOUR WEEKS NOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEGACY FORD (413 INDUSTRIAL BLVD, MCDONOUGH, GA 30253, (770) 914-2800) ONE YEAR AGO TO BE REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING DID NOT REVEAL A CODE REGARDING A VAPOR LOCK FAILURE THAT MAY HAVE DAMAGED THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT BEGAN TO SMELL A FUEL ODOR ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2019 AND SHE NOTICED A HUGE PUDDLE OF FUEL ON THE DRIVEWAY. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS SHOWN THE STRESS CRACK ON THE FUEL TANK. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE FAILURE WAS FROM THE RECALL REPAIR A YEAR EARLIER; HOWEVER, THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE THE CONTACT FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE DEALER AND CONTACT HAD NOT HEARD BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OXMOOR FORD LINCOLN (100 OXMOOR LN, LOUISVILLE, KY 40222, (502) 426-2500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW FUEL TANK WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER ALSO FOUND THAT THE REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NEW BRAKES WERE INSTALLED; HOWEVER, FRONT BRAKES WERE INSTALLED INSTEAD OF REAR BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

MY STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY WENT OFF IN THE FREEWAY I GOT A SIGN ON THE DASHBOARD TO SERVICE STEERING WHEEL NOW AND THEN MY STEERING WHEEL STOPPED WORKING AS I WAS DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY. AFTER GETTING THIS FIXED LESS THEN A YEAR LATER THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AS I WAS DRIVING MY STEERING WHEEL JUST LOCKED AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO STEER MY CAR TO A SAFE PLACE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME BEING ON THE FREEWAY AND THIS SECOND TIME DRIVING IN THE STREETS BOTH TIMES IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING FROM ONE SECOND TO THE NEXT I GOT A MESSAGE TO SERVICE STEERING WHEEL NOW AND THEN MY STEERING WHEEL AUTOMATICLY LOCKED AND IT MADE IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANUEVER THE CAR TO A SAFE PLACE. BOTH TIMES MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR AND IT WAS A VERY SCARY THING TO GO THROUGH.

FUEL TANK & CANISTER PURGE VALVE RECALL - 15S34 RECALL - VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED FOR RECALL IN AUGUST 2016 AND PASSED THE RECALL AND THE RECALL WAS CLOSED BY FORD. IN JULY 2017, THE VEHICLE HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND MESSAGE TO CHECK FUEL TANK INLET THAT WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF IN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE WAS RELATED TO THE EVAP SYSTEM. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME FORD DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMED THE RECALL IN 2016. THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE FAILED AND THE FUEL FILLER PIPE HAD LEAKS AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SUBMITTED A 360 CLAIM FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR. THE 360 CLAIM WAS DENIED BECAUSE THE CAR WAS OUTSIDE THE 7 YEARS OF SERVICE AND THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE CLAIM BECAUSE THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN CLOSED.

GOING THROUGH MY RECORDS I FOUND THAT ON APRIL 5,2016, I HAD A RECALL 15S34 FUEL TANK AND CANISTER PURGE VALVE INSPECTION COMPLETED. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF CRACKS OR LEAKS SO ONLY RECALIBRATION WAS COMPLETED. NOW LESS THAN 10,000 MILES LATER A REPLACEMENT WAS NEEDED. AWAITING REVIEW FOR A REFUND FROM FORD DEALERSHIP

THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.

TROTTLE ACUTATOR STUCK IN CLOSED POSITION AS THE CAR WAS MOVING ABOUT 25 MPH, PRESSED THE ACCELARATOR BUT NOTHING WAS HAPPENING,ENGINE WAS AT IDDLE, AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND EVERYTHING WORKED FOR ABOT A MINUTE AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. WHEN I GOT HOME AFTER A FEW RESTARTS I HOOKED UP MY COMUPTER TO READ THE OBD CODE THAT CAME ON !! IT WAS CODE P2112 , WITCH IS THE TROTTLE ACUTATOR MODULE !! AFTER RESETING THE OBD CODE IT WAS WORKING FINE ON THE DRIVEWAY. I'LL TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE LATER. IT SEEMS CLEAR THAT A PROBLEM EXISTS WITH THE TROTTLE ACUTATOR ON THE TROTTLE BODY !!! A DESIGN FLAW IS VERY POSSIBLE, AND IT PRESENTS A DANGER WHEN DRIVING ON THE ROAD WITH A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND SPEED. A RECAL SHOULD BE IN THE WORKS FOR FORD !!! I HAVE READ TOO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS 32,000 MILES AND IS A 2010 YEAR.

I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM ENTERPRISE SALES RENTALS AT 24,000 MILES, NOW 58,000 MILES. NEVER HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE OF ANY TYPE. RESEARCH INDICATES A NUMBER OF TSBS RELATED TO THROTTLE BODY ISSUES BUT NO NOTICE FROM FOMOC OR LOCAL DEALER. THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR BEING KILLED IN THIS CAR. HOW TO GET THE CAR PROPERLY REPAIRED?

I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SH U THINK THE CAR OFF A FEW MINUTES AND THEN GO AGAIN. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE PULLING ACROSS TRAFFIC FROM A STOP, ONE TIME NEARLY GETTING ME HIT FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WHEN OR WHERE THIS WILL HAPPEN. I HAVE CALLED FORD AND WAS DENIED A REPAIR BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST FOR THE THROTTLE BODY EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE ONES COVERED. I HAVE HAD THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND RECEIVED CODES THAT MATCH AS WELL.

I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED BY A SEMI AND THERE WAS NO EMERGENCY LANE FOR ME TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO. IT COSTED FOR ABOUT 3/4 OF A MILE UNTIL I COULD PULL BEHIND SOME ORANGE BARRIERS. AFTER SHUTTING IT OFF AND CALLING ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE I RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT WAS FINE. I TOOK BACK ROADS HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55MPH) IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. RAPID DECELERATION AND MANY DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO CHANGE TO THE RIGHT LANE AND THEN BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER SAFELY, AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT, AS THE CAR WAS IN RAPID DECELERATION AND STEPPING ON THE GAS WAS UNRESPONSIVE. THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION, OR ENGINE NOISE OR RESPONSE WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL WHILE IN DRIVE POSITION AND THE KEY IN THE ON POSITION.I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, WONDERING WHAT TO DO. I THEN TURNED THE KEY BACK ON, AND THE CAR WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. I TOOK SIDE ROADS HOME AND THEN SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AT THE SELLING MANUFACTURER DEALERSHIP. THE DEFECT WAS IN THE THROTTLE BODY? THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE $500 REPAIR UNDER THE NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY (OUT ON TIME), THE $1700 EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED (NOT COVERED PART), THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY (NOT COVERED PART) OR THE HYBRID WARRANTY ( NOT COVERED PART), OR ANY RECALL, OR GOODWILL SERVICE PLAN OR SERVICE BULLETIN REPAIRS. THEN I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A SETTLEMENT WITH THE NHTSA FOR SIMILAR INCIDENTS THAT FORD AGREED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE THROTTLE BODY FOR 150,000 MILES OR 10 YEARS. (THIS VEHICLE IS A 2010 WITH JUST OVER 20,000 MILES. THEY SAID IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE SETTLEMENT BECAUSE IT A HYBRID AND THEY WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE SETTLEMENT. I THINK THAT THIS PREMATURE FAILURE OF AN ITEM THAT THEY WILL REPLACE IF DEFECTIVE IN 150,000 MILES OR TEN YEARS AS PART OF A SETTLEMENT TO AVOID A RECALL AND ASSOCIATED PUBLIC DISCLOSURE, SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE AGREEMENT. DRIVING THRU TOWN AT APPROX 30 MPH THE VEHICLES WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED FOR CHECK ENGINE AND THE THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING (WRENCH) ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ANY ACTIVATION OF THE GAS PEDDLE AND DRIFTED TO IDLE POWER. NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT WENT WRONG, I SHUT THE CAR DOWN AND RESTARTED IT TO CLEAR THE FAULTS. I RE-ENTERED TRAFFIC AND PROCEEDED ABOUT 50 FT BEFORE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I PROCEEDED TO FOLLOW THE SAME RESET PROCESS AND WAS ABLE TO LIMP THE CAR HOME. THE CAR WAS TOWED AWAY AND REPAIRED BY REPLACING THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT SINCE 2004 FORD HAS KNOWN THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS AND THAT THE ENGINE DESIGN DEFAULT IS TO BRING THE CAR DOWN TO IDLE POWER. INTERNET CHAT BOARDS HAVE STORIES OF THIS HAPPENING ON HIGHWAYS AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED. I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND GOT ON THE FREEWAY AND AS I ACCELERATED TO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, THE CAR STARTED SPLUTTING AND I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE WITH A TRUCK CLOSE BEHIND ME AND CARS ON EACH SIDE. THE SPEED STARTED TO DECREASE AS I PUSHED ON THE GAS PETAL WITH NOTHING HAPPENING. IT WAS AS THOUGH IT RAN OUT OF GAS AND THE CONSOLE LIGHTS CAME ON. I PANIC AND TRIED TO WORK MY WAY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER AFTER THE TRUCK BARELY MISSED PITTING ME AND COASTED TIL THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TRIED TO START IT AGAIN, IT STARTED BECAUSE I KNEW THAT IT WASN'T OUT OF GAS, I HAD A FULL TANK. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AT THAT TIME EITHER. I PRECEDED TO GET BACK ON THE FREEWAY AND GOT UP TO 50 MPH AND WENT TO THE NEAREST EXIT AND MY CAR REPEATED THE SAME THING, THIS TIME WITH A JERKING MOTION..THAT WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I MOVED THE CAR TO A SAFER AREA AND CALLED TO GET IT TOWED. IT WAS PLACE ON THE A MACHINE THAT READ P2111 AND P2112. THE AUTO SHOP INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR

WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH ON A HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING LOSS ALL PROPULSION AND STARTED TO SPUTTER VIOLENTLY. I NOTICED THE "WRENCH" LIGHT INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED AND LUCKILY COASTED WITH NO PROPULSION TO A SAFE AREA ON THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER TO PULL OVER. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF FOR A MINUTE AND RESTARTED VEHICLE AS NORMAL AND NO "INDICATOR LIGHT" HAD ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO BE OPERATING AS NORMAL AT THIS POINT. LATER I HAD THE CODES PULLED FOR THE INCIDENT ON MY VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD IT INDICATED A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THIS OCCURRED 3 TIMES OVER THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS. AFTER DOING A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF THE EXACT SAME DESCRIPTION I HAVE HERE. THERE MUST BE AN INHERENT DEFECT OF THE PART USED IN THESE VEHICLES.

RESTART THE CAR AND THIS TIME A "CEL" I DRIVE TO AUTOZONE FOR A CODE CHECK AND IT'S P2111 STUCK THROTTLE BODY. SUNDAY NIGHT CAR STARTS STALLING EVERY 50-100 FEET ON A FRONTAGE ROAD OF IH10 NEAR CALLAGHAN WHILE CRESTING A HILL AND NO CLEAR SIGHT LINES, LUCKILY I WAS NOT REAR ENDED. MANAGED TO NURSE IT, SURGING FORWARD SUDDENLY AND SPUTTERING TO A CREEP, INTO A LA QUINTA HOTEL PARKING LOT AND AWAIT A TOW.

WHEN TOWED TO THE SHOP, THEY DID DETERMIN THE PROBELM WAS TEH THROTTLE BODY AND REPLACED IT. REPAIR WAS $550. FORTUNATELY THIS OCCCURED DURING THE DAY, BUT WAS ON A HEAVILY TRAVELED HIGHWAY AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY WITH THE SUDDEN LOSS IN SPEED.

WHILE VEH WAS MALFUNCTIONING, I COULD HOLD GASOLINE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR W/NO RESPONSE. COULD NOT MANUALLY SHIFT (I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC SHIFTABLE) PAST 2ND GEAR & VEH WOULD NOT PROGRESS FORWARD - EXCEPT IF THE ENGINE SURGED. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED MORE, WITH LESS TIME BETWEEN FAILINGS AS THE DAY PROGRESSED UNTIL I COULD FINALLY GET TO A POPULATED AREA/SMALL TOWN. IT IS ALSO WORTH MENTIONING, BOTH MECHANICS THAT CHECKED MY VEHICLE FOR ME COULD NOT FIND ANY "HISTORY" IN MY CODES. HOWEVER, THE FIRST FORD DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO DO A SPECIAL CHECK THAT FOUND A "THROTTLE BODY FAILURE". THEY CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY (PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED TILL 9/24/13) & SENT ME ON MY WAY HOPING THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. IT DID NOT, SO I STOPPED AT THE VERY NEXT TOWN AFTER IT HAPPENED AGAIN & LEFT MY MERCURY MILAN WITH A FORD DEALERSHIP. SINCE THIS LAST INCIDENT IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES CAUSING US TO NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR EVEN A FEW BLOCKS WITHOUT IT HAPPENING 3-4 TIMES. I CAME ACROSS THE ENTIRE LISTING OF OTHERS WHO WERE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE SO THOUGHT I BETTER IMMEDIATELY GET IT TO THE DEALER AND PUT ON DIAGNOSTICS. I EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT I THOUGHT THE ISSUE MIGHT BE, THE THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM I HAD READ ABOUT. THEY PUT IT ON DIAGNOSTICS, BUT THE ONLY CODE WHICH CAME UP WAS A P0456, SAYING I NEEDED TO REPLACE A VALVE--THIS CODE IS INDICATED BY THE "SERVICE ENGINE" LIGHT, AND NOT THE "WRENCH". HE SAID THEY COULD FIND NO CODES FOR THE "WRENCH" LIGHT. I TOLD HIM THAT WAS STRANGE, BECAUSE THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I LOST POWER. HE TOLD ME THE P0456 COULD MAKE THE CAR HAVE THE SAME TYPES OF ISSUES. I TOLD HIM I HAD BEEN DRIVING WITH THE P0456 CODE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, AND IT HAD NEVER AFFECTED THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE, SO I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT WOULD DO IT NOW. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS THE SAME TYPE OF ISSUES OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING, BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME PREVIOUSLY WHEN THEY SAW THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE, THERE WAS ALWAYS A CODE. COMMUTING HOME FROM WORK THE GAS PEDAL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE, THE ENTIRE BEGAN RUNNING VERY ROUGH, AND THE RED WRENCH SYMBOL ILLUMINATED ON MY DRIVERS DISPLAY. COASTED TO A SAFE SPOT TO PULL OFF, TURNED OFF THE CAR LET IT SIT FOR A MINUTE OR TWO, RESTARTED THE CAR, THE DISPLAY WAS CLEAR, GAS PEDAL RESPONSE WAS GOOD, AND ENGINE SOUNDED NORMAL. DROVE HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. FOUR DAYS LATER A SIMILAR INCIDENT, CONTACTED MY FORD GARAGE, DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. DIAGNOSTIC CAME BACK WITH THE THROTTLE BODY DIAGNOSIS, THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER WITH NO ESTIMATED RECEIVING DATE. WILL COST JUST UNDER $500 TO REPAIR, 3 MONTHS OUT OF BUMPER TO BUMPER COVERAGE, JUST UNDER 27K ON THE CAR. SEVERAL INCIDENTS WITHIN A 10 DAY PERIOD WHERE THE CARE WOULD JUST DIE WHILE DRIVING. LAST INCIDENT TOOK PLACE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. DRIVING ON FREEWAY WHEN VEHICLE ACCELERATION BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND COULD TELL ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT NOT WELL. THE CAR BEHAVES AS IF IT WAS SUDDENLY PUT INTO NEUTRAL. WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS THE ENGINE REVS, BUT THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 60 MPH WITHOUT WARNING THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I HAD NO ENGINE CONTROL. THE CAR WAS IN A LIMP MODE.THE GAS PEDAL HAD NO EFFECT. TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WRENCH LIGHT TURNED OFF AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NORMALLY FOR 5 MILES BEFORE THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME. CONNECTED A SCAN TOOL TO THE OBD AND NO CODES WERE PRESENT. THE FOLLOWING DAY DRIVING WITH THE SCAN TOOL CONNECTED AT 40 MPH THE SAME SYMPTOMS OCCURRED. THE SCAN TOOL REGISTERED CODE P2111 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK OPEN. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO PULL SAFELY. MENTIONED THE ISSUE TO THE LOCAL LINCOLN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALER ON FRIDAY MAY 31ST & THEY SAID THERE WERE NO ALERTS ON THE CAR, THAT THEY WOULD DO A SOFTWARE UPGRADE THAT WOULD HOPEFULLY FIX THE ISSUE. THE RECEIPT THEY GAVE ME LISTED THAT A THROTTLE BODY WAS NEEDED, & IT WAS ON BACK ORDER. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO MINIMIZE USING THE CAR, BUT ON JUNE 15TH I HAD TO GO TO MY NIECE AND NEPHEW'S DANCE RECITAL IN SOUTH NJ. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON 295 (MAJOR HIGHWAY) GOING AROUND 65 THE CAR DIED AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR, BUT DIDN'T MAKE IT HOME AGAIN WITHOUT IT HAPPENING ANOTHER TIME. I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION LIGHT AND THE ENGINE DIED. THANK GOD IT WASN'T A WIDER INTERSECTION OR I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO COAST THROUGH. AT THIS POINT THIS CAR IS UNUSABLE AND IS A DEATH TRAP WAITING TO HAPPEN. I CALLED ANOTHER DEALER, AND THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER THERE AS WELL. THIS IS CLEARLY A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODIES IN THE 2010 MILAN THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW THIS PROBLEM WILL BE RECTIFIED. THE PROOF IS IN THE FACT THAT THEY CANNOT MAKE THE PART FAST ENOUGH TO FIX THE BROKEN CARS. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR AT ALL. THE ORANGE WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARED IN MY DASH CONSOLE. AFTER THINKING ABOUT IT FOR A COUPLE MINUTES, I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, RESTARTED, THE PROBLEM HAD CORRECTED ITSELF. THE PRIOR DAY, WHILE BRAKING BEHIND A CAR, FOOT ON BRAKE, NEITHER FOOT NEAR OR ON THROTTLE, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD WITH THE THROTTLE OVERPOWERING THE BRAKE FOR A SECOND OR TWO CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO APPLY THE BRAKE MORE AGGRESSIVELY. I DID NOT THINK ABOUT THIS TOO MUCH, BUT AFTER THIS OCCURRENCE THIS MORNING I WONDER IF THE TWO EVENTS ARE RELATED. I CALLED THE DEALER, WHILE HE WOULD NOT CONFIRM THE FACT, IT SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM ON THIS ISSUE, A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE ISSUE. I SUPPOSE THE MOST TELLING POINT IS THAT IF THE PART MOST LIKELY TO BE A PROBLEM, IS INDEED BAD, AND DOES NOT RESPOND TO JUST A CLEANING, THEY CANNOT REPLACE IT BECAUSE THE PART IS ON BACKORDER. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL AT ABOUT 60 MPH AND THE CAR WOULD JERK AND THEN WOULD LOOSE POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WOULD BE IN IDLE MODE AND I WOULD HAVE TO STOP AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES BEFORE I TRY TO START IT AGAIN. THE SECOND IS INCIDENT WAS BASICALLY THE SAME ONLY AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION. THE THIRD I WAS IN TOWN GOING ABOUT 40 MPH WHEN THE CAR JERKED AGAIN AND WENT INTO IDLE MODE. THE NEXT FEW TIME THAT IT HAPPENED I HAD A VERY HARD TIME GETTING IT STARTED AND MOVING AGAIN. RETURNING FROM VACATION TO BLACK HILLS, SD GOING EAST ON I-90 AT 75 MPH. ENGINE INSTANTLY LOST POWER AND I PULLED OFF ON HIGHWAY SHOULDER. ENGINE DID NOT SHUT OFF BUT "WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STARTED BUCKING. VEHICLE WAS TRANSPORTED TO FORD DEALER IN PIERRE, SD. DUE TO HOLIDAY THEY DID NOT LOOK AT IT UNTIL 5/28/13. PROBLEM WAS DETERMINED TO BE FAILED THROTTLE BODY. FORTUNATELY IT WAS DAYTIME AND THRU OPEN COUNTRY AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF SAFELY. FORD NEEDS TO FIND OUT WHAT CAUSES THE FAILURE AND MAKE IT RIGHT. THERE IS A HIGH RISK POTENTIAL. IMAGINE IF THIS OCCURRED AT NIGHT OR IF I WAS IN A MIDDLE LANE OF A MULTIPLE LANE HIGHWAY GOING THRU AN URBAN AREA WITH HIGH SPEED BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC, I SUSPECT THAT WE WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED WITH POTENTIAL SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES AS A RESULT OF THE INSTANT DECELERATION. I HAVE STALLED OUT AT 2 INTERSECTIONS WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED AT MY EXPENSE TO A SHOP. THE VERDICT WAS A 'THROTTLE BODY' ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE WENT INTO THE 'LIMP HOME' MODE WITH NO WARNING. I WOULD CHALLENGE THE PRESIDENT OF FORD TO ATTEMPT TO LIMP THIS VEHICLE JUST 5 MILES ON ANY BUSY ROAD IN THE NATION IN THIS MODE. APPARENTLY, JUDGING BY MY RESEARCH, IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND WIDESPREAD. AS OF RIGHT NOW THE VEHICLE IS UNUSABLE, SINCE THE PARTS ARE ON 'INDEFINITE BACK-ORDER' AWAITING SOME SORT OF RELEASE OF PARTS. THE VEHICLE IS STUCK AT A DEALERSHIP, NO FIX DATE IN SIGHT UNTIL THE PART (OR SUBSTITUTE PART) BECOMES AVAILABLE. THIS LEAVE ME WITH NO TRANSPORTATION (I'M DISABLED CURRENTLY) AND NO RECOURSE. PURCHASED THIS CAR USED IN JULY 2012. IS A 2010 AND HAD LOW MILES ON IT. DEALER CLAIMED VEHICLE WAS A LEASE AND WAS TURNED IN. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR SEVERAL DAYS, IT STALLED AT STOP SIGN, NO ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. AFTER RE-STARTING, IT DROVE FINE. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, VEHICLE AGAIN STALLED AT STOP SIGN. NO ENGINE LIGHT. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, VEHICLE AGAIN STALLED AT STOP LIGHT. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER 9 MONTHS. IT MAY NOT STALL FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. DEALER KEPT THE CAR FOR ONE WEEK, WITH A MECHANIC DRIVING IT AS IT WAS HOOKED UP TO PORTABLE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. IT NEVER STALLED, NOR DID IT SHOW ANY ENGINE LIGHTS. DEALER CLAIMS THEY CANNOT FIX IT IF THEY DO NOT SEE ANY INDICATORS ON DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND IF I WANT TO CONTINUE TO PURSUE THIS, I HAVE TO PAY FOR EACH TRIP. CERTAINLY, SOMEONE MUST HAVE AN IDEA OF WHAT IS CAUSING THIS AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE.
