While I was driving check engine light, service wrench light came on also. The vehicle began to idle surge at stop light and when parked. Throttle response was reduced to minimal operation .Ran the codes code came up P2119 throttle body fault. Once vehicle cools down the light may shut off but does come back on while driving.

THE POWER STEERING LIGHT AND THE POWER TRAIN LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, STOPPED THE CAR, TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE STEERING WAS GONE. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. PREVIOUS TIMES I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AS THE 2011 MODEL HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THEY HAVE QUOTED ME UPWARDS OF $2000 TO REPAIR. WHEN I DECLINED, THE COMPUTER WAS RESET AND IT WORKED AGAIN. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE CAME ON.

TAKATA INFLATORS : I PICKED UP MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN AFTER BEING ADVISED OF THE RECALL AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN I RECEIVED A CALL TODAY AFTER 2 MONTHS STATING MY CAR WAS READY AS I ARRIVED TO THE DEALERSHIP I RETURNED THE RENTAL AND TRIED TO START MY OWN CAR AND COULD NOT THE VEHICLE WAS JUMPED AND I LEFT DEALER TURNED INTO TRAFFIC AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE AS THE CAR WAS SEIZED UP INTO 2ND GEAR THE BELTS HAVE POSSIBLE DRY ROT BRAKES HAVE CORROSION FROM THE CAR BEING STATIONARY ALL THE TIME WAITING ON PARTS. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THEN MY GAS PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND HAD NO POWER. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WHEN I LIFTED THE HOOD THE WHOLE ENGINE WAS SHAKING. I SHUT OFF THE CAR. LET IT SIT FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND IT STARTED UP SLOWLY. RAN FOR ABOUT 10 MILES AND DID IT AGAIN AT 35 MPH. PULLED OVER SHUT OFF CAR AND WAITED(AS A POLICE OFFICER PULLED UP TO MY CAR). STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND MADE IT TO OUR CAMPSITE. WE WERE 3 HOURS FROM HOME. I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. I ENDED UP AT O REILLY AUTO PARTS AND FIXED THE THROTTLE BODY IN THE PARKING LOT. HAS BEEN RUNNING SLIGHTLY ROUGH SINCE THIS HAPPENED. THEN THIS MORNING(3 WEEKS LATER) I STARTED THE CAR AND THE RADIO AND INFO ON IT DOES NOT WORK. STILL WORKING ON THIS PROBLEM. ANY THOUGHT WOULD BE HELPFUL. I THINK IT IS TIME TO GET RID OF THE MERCURY AND GO BACK TO CHEVY.

THE AFFECTED VEHICLES HAVE A STEERING TORQUE SENSOR THAT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY DETECT DRIVER STEERING INPUT. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY REGARDING MY VEHICLE 2010 MERCURY MILAN PREMIER BECAUSE I HAD TO HAVE MY POWER STEERING REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CALL FORD AND INFORM THEM THAT MY CAR SHOULD BE LISTED IN THE RECALL. WHEN I CALLED I WAS TRANSFERRED TO CUSTOMER RELATIONS. THE WOMAN WAS VERY RUDE AND KEPT REPEATING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER. I EXPLAINED TO HER I UNDERSTAND THE PROTOCOL I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT INFORMATION REGARDING THE CALL WILL BE SUBMITTED ABOUT MY VEHICLE POWER STEERING WAS SERVICED ON MY MILAN AND IF THERE WAS ANYTHING FURTHER THAT I COULD DO REGARDING MY VEHICLE POSSIBLY BEING IN THE RECALL. I'VE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE MILAN THROTTLE BODY FOR OVER A YEAR. EVERYTIME I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAY THE COMPUTER JUST NEEDS REPROGRAMMED. AFTER I LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP MY CAR USUALLY HAS A HARD FAILURE JUST LIKE IT DID BEFORE (LOSS OF POWER, ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH, CAR ROLLS TO A STOP). I CAN COMPLETELY TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN BACK ON AND IT RUNS FINE AGAIN FOR A WHILE AND THEN DOES IT ALL OVER AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP WILL ONLY KEEP REPROGRAMMING THE COMPUTER. THEY HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY 2 TIMES BUT AFTER ABOUT 100 MILES IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN. FORD HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT THE DEALERSHIP CAN FIND WHICH IS ONLY WHAT THE CODES SAY (REPROGRAM COMPUTER OR REPLACE THROTTLE BODY). I'M NOT GOING TO KEEP TAKING MY CAR IN EVERY WEEK TO GET REPROGRAMMED. FORD HAS REFUSED TO GIVE ME A LOANER CAR TO USE UNTIL THEY FIX IT. I'VE TAKEN MULTIPLE DAYS OFF WORK AND ARRANGED FOR OTHER TRANSPORTATION FOR THE PREVIOUS WORK. HOWEVER, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I CAN'T KEEP TAKING MY CAR BACK FOR SOME THAT FORD KNOWS NEEDS FIXED. THIS IS CLEARLY A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. I TRAVEL A LOT ON HIGHWAYS AND INTERSTATES AND WHEN I LOSE POWER I'VE HAD SOME CLOSE CALLS WILL ACCIDENTS (RE ENDED) AND TRYING TO GET TO A SHOULDER TO PULL OFF AND RESTART CAR. I CAN NO LONGER USE MY CAR TO DRIVE MY KIDS AROUND DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERNS OF BEING HIT DURING A FAILURE OR STRANDED. I'VE MADE THIS KNOWN VERY CLEARLY TO FORD BUT THEY DON'T SEEM TO CARE. IF THEY DO THEY ARE NOT ACTING ON IT. I WOULD HATE FOR SOMETHING TERRIBLE TO HAPPEN BEFORE THEY FIX IT. I PURCHASED MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN LAST YEAR IN JULY 2013. THIS WEEKEND I STARTED HAVING AN ISSUE WITH A LOUD THUMPING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, ON IGNITION, GEAR CHANGING AND ACCELERATION. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY BROKEN. IT WAS NEVER WELDED, WHICH I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. MEANING THIS WAS AN ISSUE BEFORE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE. MY ENGINE HAS MOVED 2 INCHES FORWARD, THE TECHNICIAN MOVED MY ENGINE WITH HIS BARE HAND BACK AND FORWARD. BOTH OF MY FRONT WHEEL AXLES ARE BROKEN DUE TO THE PRESSURE OF THE ENGINE NOT BEING SECURED WITH THIS SUBFRAME. I'M NOT REALLY GREAT WITH CAR REPAIRS KNOWLEDGE, BUT EVEN I KNOW THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE. I BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH MY CAR DURING PURCHASE AND THEY WON'T PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I WAS QUOTED $600 FOR PARTS AND $624 FOR LABOR. NOT INCLUDING MY WHEEL AXLES THAT HAVE TO BE REPAIRED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE BBB AND THE VP OF THE DEALER, CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. THE DEALER WAS SUPPOSED TO DO A COMPLETE INSPECTION OF MY VEHICLE AND THEY DID NOT. THEY SAY THEY STAND BY THEIR INSPECTIONS AND GUARANTEE. NOT THIS TIME!! IT'S NOT FAIR FOR ME TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR BUT IF I DON'T, I WON'T HAVE A VEHICLE TO DRIVE. FORD HAS TO DO SOMETHING. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 70MPH WHEN MY CAR JOLTED. THEN FROM THERE IT DECELERATED VERY FAST. I PUSHED ON THE GAS AND NOTHING IT FELT LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL WITH NOTHING HAPPENING. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55MPH) IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. RAPID DECELERATION AND MANY DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO CHANGE TO THE RIGHT LANE AND THEN BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER SAFELY, AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT, AS THE CAR WAS IN RAPID DECELERATION AND STEPPING ON THE GAS WAS UNRESPONSIVE. THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION, OR ENGINE NOISE OR RESPONSE WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL WHILE IN DRIVE POSITION AND THE KEY IN THE ON POSITION.I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, WONDERING WHAT TO DO. I THEN TURNED THE KEY BACK ON, AND THE CAR WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. I TOOK SIDE ROADS HOME AND THEN SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AT THE SELLING MANUFACTURER DEALERSHIP. THE DEFECT WAS IN THE THROTTLE BODY? THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE $500 REPAIR UNDER THE NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY (OUT ON TIME), THE $1700 EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED (NOT COVERED PART), THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY (NOT COVERED PART) OR THE HYBRID WARRANTY ( NOT COVERED PART), OR ANY RECALL, OR GOODWILL SERVICE PLAN OR SERVICE BULLETIN REPAIRS. THEN I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A SETTLEMENT WITH THE NHTSA FOR SIMILAR INCIDENTS THAT FORD AGREED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE THROTTLE BODY FOR 150,000 MILES OR 10 YEARS. (THIS VEHICLE IS A 2010 WITH JUST OVER 20,000 MILES. THEY SAID IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE SETTLEMENT BECAUSE IT A HYBRID AND THEY WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE SETTLEMENT. I THINK THAT THIS PREMATURE FAILURE OF AN ITEM THAT THEY WILL REPLACE IF DEFECTIVE IN 150,000 MILES OR TEN YEARS AS PART OF A SETTLEMENT TO AVOID A RECALL AND ASSOCIATED PUBLIC DISCLOSURE, SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE AGREEMENT. I HAVE THE PART FROM THE DEALER. EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE FEWER HYBRIDS ON THE ROAD AS A STATISTIC, IT ONLY TAKES ONE FAILURE TO CAUSE A TRAGIC RESULT. PURCHASED THIS MILAN IN 2011 WITH 22K MILES. IMMEDIATELY NOTICED ISSUES WITH THE 6-SPEED 6F35 AUTOMATIC CAUSING THE CAR TO STOP ACCELERATING UNDER LOAD, LEAVING ME DEAD IN THE WATER WHEN MERGING IN TRAFFIC. I WAS NOT INFORMED THAT FORD ALREADY KNEW OF ISSUES AND I WAS IN AND OUT OF THE DEALER WITH NOTHING DONE, UNTIL THE TRANY HAD MORE DAMAGE. IT WAS REPAIRED BUT NEVER PROPERLY STRESS TESTED, BY EITHER OF TWO DEALERSHIPS I WENT TO. ACCORDING TO THE TSB IF THE TRANY EXHIBITED CERTAIN GRADES OF FAILURE, IT REQUIRED REPROGRAMMING AND THEN VALVE BODY REPLACEMENT, FOLLOWED BY A STRESS TEST TO VERIFY THERE WAS NOT ANY MORE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE MOST I GOT AFTER THE VALVE BODY WAS CHANGED WAS A SUGGESTION THAT I CHANGE MY TRANY FLUID THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN CHANGED BY FORD 20K MILES EARLIER. I THEN STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS (BRAKE/PARKING), WITH ONES FLICKERING INTERMITTENTLY IN THE COLD AND THEN DIEING COMPLETELY, OR GOING FULL INTENSITY AND NEVER SWITCHING BACK TO JUST PARKING LIGHT MODE. HAD TO REPLACE BOTH AT HIGH COST, FORD LISTS $400 EACH, BASICALLY FOR THE EQUIVALENT OF A $2 BULB. I AM AN EE, SPECIALIZING IN MANUFACTURING, AND AFTER TAKING ONE OF THE FAILING ONES APART FOUND IT IS WAS PROBABLY RELATED TO POOR PART CHOICE OR DESIGN. THERE WAS NOTHING DAMAGED DUE TO WATER OR IMPACT. THE RESULT OF THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS THERE WAS A CODE STORED IN SYSTEM OF THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. IT WAS GIVING A CODE FOR BEING STUCK OPEN WHEN IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN. IT WAS A FAILED COMPONENT. THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER ARRIVED AFTER 20 MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR ONTO THE FLATBED. SOME ABILITY TO DRIVE FORWARD HAD RETURNED BUT I WAS WARY. I HAD THE CAR TRANSPORTED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN IDENTIFIED THE THROTTLE BODY AS THE CULPRIT ($425 TO REPAIR). I'VE LEARNED SUBSEQUENT TO MY EXPERIENCE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS QUITE COMMON WITH 2009 - 2011 MERCURY MILANS. THE THROTTLE BODY REPAIR IS COVERED FOR 2 YEARS. I WAS IN CINCINNATI THAT WEEKEND (3 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME) AND AS I WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING LOT OF A STORE, THE CAR JERKED VERY HARD AND THEN THE WRENCH SHOWED UP ON THE DASH AND I LOST ALL POWER. I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A PARKING SPACE. I THEN SHUT OFF THE CAR AND WAITED A BIT AND RESTARTED IT. THE WRENCH CAME OFF THE DASH AND THE CAR WAS WORKING PROPERLY AGAIN. WE THEN WENT ABOUT OUR DAY AND AS WE WERE HEADING BACK TO MY NEPHEWS FOOTBALL GAME, WE WERE DRIVING DOWN 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND I HAD JUST PASSED A SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE WHEN THE CAR JERKED ABRUPTLY AGAIN AND I LOST ALL POWER. I PUT MY TURN SIGNAL ON AND WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF A SIDE ROAD. THE WRENCH CAME ON AGAIN. IT HAPPEN THE NEXT DAY AS WE WERE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE BACK HOME. WE TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR BACK HOME IN MANUAL AND IT WORKED JUST FINE. I GOT OUR CAR INTO OUR LOCAL CAR DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDED REPLACED. SO AFTER FORKING OUT $375, IT HASN'T DONE ANYTHING SINCE. THE REASON I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT IS THAT IF THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD'VE ACTED UP WHILE WE WERE TRAVELING THROUGH THE HILLY ROADS IN CINCINNATI, WE WOULD'VE BEEN IN A SEVERE CAR ACCIDENT. THIS PROBLEM IS A HUGE CONCERN AS YOU LOSE ALL CONTROL OF THE CAR. YOU HAVE NO GAS AND THE RPM'S JUST QUIVER ON THE DASH. IF I HADN'T BEEN ABLE TO PULL OFF OF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WE WOULD'VE BEEN HURT DUE TO A CAR CRASH. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THEY WERE RESETTING SOMETHING THAT HAD TO DO WITH THE COMPUTER IN THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER THE FIRST INSTANCE OF THE CAR STALLING, I GOOGLED ANY ISSUES WITH MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE AND CAME UPON A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. I MENTIONED THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT A COMMON ISSUE, NOR WAS IT THE PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE. LAST WEEK, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, MY CAR COMPLETELY STALLED WHILE GOING 75MPH ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY THE SEMI THAT WAS BEHIND ME AS MY CAR'S SPEED SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING, DROPPED BY OVER 15MPH. I MADE MY WAY TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND SLOWLY COASTED UP AN OFF RAMP TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY (AS THERE WAS NO SHOULDER). EVEN IF YOU PRESS THE GAS, NOTHING HAPPENS. YOU DO NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT. I DROVE MAYBE 5 MINUTES AND IT STALLED AGAIN. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND MY CAR RUNS PERFECTLY NOW. HE SAID WHEN HE CALLED AROUND TO GET A PART HE HAD A HORRIBLE TIME EVEN FINDING ONE BECAUSE THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER DUE TO THIS BEING SUCH A HUGE ISSUE ACROSS THE COUNTRY. ON 8/4/13 I WAS ON MY WAY HOME GOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND THIS HAPPENS, I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD QUICK ENOUGH THAT IT DIDN'T INTERFERE WITH THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. I GOT DOWN THE ROAD AND WAS TRYING TO TURN ONTO MY ROAD AND THIS HAPPENS AGAIN AND I AM NOW IN MIDDLE OF LANE FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC, I MANAGE TO GET IT GOING AND FINISH TURN JUST FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY PERSON TURNING ONTO ROAD. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND DROVE IT AROUND A SMALL NEIGHBORHOOD SUCCESSFULLY BEFORE I WOULD ATTEMPT TAKING IT HOME WITH MY YOUNG DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. WE TOOK A TENTATIVE DRIVE HOME WITH THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS FLASHING, HOPING IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN, AS THERE WAS NO WAY TO GO HOME WITHOUT TRAFFIC IN THE WASHINGTON DC AREA. AFTER COMING ONLINE AND ONE SEARCH LED ME HERE AND I SAW THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM FROM SO MANY OTHER MILAN OWNERS, I WAS ALARMED. I BOUGHT IT COUPLE MONTHS AGO, LESS THAN 30K MILES... I'M DRIVING AND ACCELERATING STOPPED WORKING, MY CAR SLOWED DOWN, I CLICKED THE HAZARDS ON REAL QUICK AND DRIFTED AS FAR OVER AS I COULD. POLICE HAD TO PUT FLARES OUT UNTIL TOW TRUCK CAME. TOW TRUCK GOT THERE AND AFTER WE MADE IT TO FORD-MERCURY, THE CAR STARTED AND "ACTED" JUST FINE. THE TOW DRIVER SUGGESTED IT HAD BEEN BAD GAS AND MAY NEED INJECTION CLEANER. I DECIDED TO DRIVE IT HOME AFTER ADDING HI-TEST GAS AND INJ CLEANER, AND IT WAS ALL GOOD. UNTIL TODAY.(3 DAYS LATER). I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND CAR IDLED DOWN TIL IT CUT OFF. THE MPG LED MONITOR STARTED DROPPING (JUST LIKE IT DID FIRST TIME) IT WENT FROM GETTING 15 MPG TO 5 MPG IN THE MATTER OF 2 MINUTES WHILE JUST IDLING. AS IF THE GAS WAS DUMPING THRU LINES. ALSO THE IDLE BECAME SO ERRATIC IT WOULD GO UP THEN DROP DOWN, I MADE IT WHERE I NEEDED BUT LEFT THE CAR, AND TOOK SPOUSES CAR. I TOOK A VIDEO OF THE DASH THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT SHOWS ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, THE MPG DROPPED FROM 13MPG TO 2.2MPG AND THE IDLE RPM WOULD GO UP AND DOWN, NO MATTER WHETHER YOU PUSHED GAS OR NOT. GAS PEDAL STILL FELT NORMAL UNDER FOOT, SO NOT THE PEDAL. CAR STILL RAN, JUST WOULDN'T GO ANYWHERE, (HAD DOG AND NEEDED AC UNTIL TOW CAME) I HOPE THERE'S A FIX FOR THIS. EACH TIME, I PULLED VEHICLE OFF ROAD TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY, PUT IT IN PARK (WOULD THEN IDLE ROUGH, BUT SURGE LESS). TURNED VEHICLE OFF, WAITED 5-10MIN, RESTARTED & VEHICLE WOULD FUNCTION CLOSE TO NORMALLY (MINIMAL SMALL SURGES WHILE DRIVING). WHILE VEH WAS MALFUNCTIONING, I COULD HOLD GASOLINE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR W/NO RESPONSE. COULD NOT MANUALLY SHIFT (I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC SHIFTABLE) PAST 2ND GEAR & VEH WOULD NOT PROGRESS FORWARD - EXCEPT IF THE ENGINE SURGED. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED MORE, WITH LESS TIME BETWEEN FAILINGS AS THE DAY PROGRESSED UNTIL I COULD FINALLY GET TO A POPULATED AREA/SMALL TOWN. IT IS ALSO WORTH MENTIONING, BOTH MECHANICS THAT CHECKED MY VEHICLE FOR ME COULD NOT FIND ANY "HISTORY" IN MY CODES. HOWEVER, THE FIRST FORD DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO DO A SPECIAL CHECK THAT FOUND A "THROTTLE BODY FAILURE". THEY CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY (PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED TILL 9/24/13) & SENT ME ON MY WAY HOPING THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. IT DID NOT, SO I STOPPED AT THE VERY NEXT TOWN AFTER IT HAPPENED AGAIN & LEFT MY MERCURY MILAN WITH A FORD DEALERSHIP. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED IT WAS REALLY QUITE SCARY AS TRAFFIC AROUND ME HAD NO IDEA I WAS ABOUT TO HAVE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN LOST POWER. FIRST THE ENGINE BEGAN MISSING AND RUNNING ROUGH, AND THEN THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE RPM DROPPED TO IDLE SPEED (IDLING ROUGH). THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. NO THROTTLE WAS PRESENT. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO IDLE (BUT IT WAS A ROUGH IDLE). THE WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD CAME ON. I STEERED THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. AFTER WAITING A MINUTE OR SO, I RESTARTED THE ENGINE, AND IT STARTED ALMOST NORMALLY (IT TOOK A FEW MORE CRANKS OF THE STARTING MOTOR FOR THE ENGINE TO START). THEN I DROVE TO WORK AND ASIDE FOR SEEMING TO MISS FROM TIME TO TIME, THE ENGINE RAN NORMALLY. THERE WAS NO WRENCH LIGHT VISIBLE ON THE DASHBOARD. HOWEVER, THAT AFTERNOON, ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK, THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. THE ENGINE SEEMED TO BE RUNNING NORMALLY, THEN STARTED MISSING, AND STALLED. THE 'WRENCH LIGHT' CAME ON. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, AND THEN RE-STARTED THE ENGINE. THERE WAS NO 'WRENCH LIGHT' AND THE ENGINE APPEARED TO RUN NORMALLY. I HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY THIS MORNING AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, UP TO ABOUT 20 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOST TOTAL POWER. I LOOKED DOWN AT THE DASH WHILE STEERING THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET, AND NOTICED THE "WRENCH" LIGHT WAS LIT UP. I IMMEDIATELY SHUT THE CAR OFF, AND GOT OUT MY MANUAL. THE MANUAL SAID THE LIGHT INDICATED A TRANSMISSION/POWER TRAIN/AWD ISSUE. I THOUGHT I WOULD ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR AGAIN, AND SEE WHAT IT WOULD DO. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS NO LONGER WENT, AND I HAD POWER WHEN I PUT IT IN GEAR. I TOOK MY CHANCES, AND WENT AHEAD AND DROVE IT WORK, HOPING IT WAS JUST A FLUKE, BUT DECIDED I WOULD INVESTIGATE TO SEE IF OTHERS HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. I CAME ACROSS THE ENTIRE LISTING OF OTHERS WHO WERE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE SO THOUGHT I BETTER IMMEDIATELY GET IT TO THE DEALER AND PUT ON DIAGNOSTICS. I EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT I THOUGHT THE ISSUE MIGHT BE, THE THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM I HAD READ ABOUT. THEY PUT IT ON DIAGNOSTICS, BUT THE ONLY CODE WHICH CAME UP WAS A P0456, SAYING I NEEDED TO REPLACE A VALVE--THIS CODE IS INDICATED BY THE "SERVICE ENGINE" LIGHT, AND NOT THE "WRENCH". HE SAID THEY COULD FIND NO CODES FOR THE "WRENCH" LIGHT. I TOLD HIM THAT WAS STRANGE, BECAUSE THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I LOST POWER. HE TOLD ME THE P0456 COULD MAKE THE CAR HAVE THE SAME TYPES OF ISSUES. I TOLD HIM I HAD BEEN DRIVING WITH THE P0456 CODE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, AND IT HAD NEVER AFFECTED THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE, SO I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT WOULD DO IT NOW. THE CAR BEHAVES AS IF IT WAS SUDDENLY PUT INTO NEUTRAL. WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS THE ENGINE REVS, BUT THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 60 MPH WITHOUT WARNING THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I HAD NO ENGINE CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME. CONNECTED A SCAN TOOL TO THE OBD AND NO CODES WERE PRESENT. THE FOLLOWING DAY DRIVING WITH THE SCAN TOOL CONNECTED AT 40 MPH THE SAME SYMPTOMS OCCURRED. THE SCAN TOOL REGISTERED CODE P2111 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK OPEN. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO PULL SAFELY. MENTIONED THE ISSUE TO THE LOCAL LINCOLN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I LOOKED AND SAW THAT THE RPMS HAD DROPPED AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE OR EVEN MAINTAIN. I PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE I COULD FEEL THE ENGINE RUNNING EXTREMELY ROUGH. I CUT THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, I FOUND THAT OVER 27,000 THROTTLE BODIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED (FOXNEWS.COM), AND THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER ISSUES THAT HAVE COME UP WITH MY CAR. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL AT ABOUT 60 MPH AND THE CAR WOULD JERK AND THEN WOULD LOOSE POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. IN APRIL OF 2013 I LEFT WORK AND GOT UP TO 45 MPH WHEN THE CAR JERKED AND THEN LOST ALL POWER. I FLOORED THE GAS AND THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND. WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND NOTICED A WRENCH ICON LIGHT. I STOPPED THE CAR AND PUT IT IN PARK THEN GAVE IT SOME GAS WITH NO RESPONSE AT ALL. THE CAR WAS JUST BARELY IDLING. I SHUT IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT, TOOK A FEW SECONDS LONGER THAN USUAL FOR IT TO START BUT IT SEEMED TO RUN FINE AFTER THAT AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS NOW OFF. ON JUNE 7TH I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR AGAIN LOST ALL POWER, PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED. CAR STARTED BUT WAS JERKING A LOT MORE. NEXT DAY IT LOST POWER AGAIN AS I PULLED AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT. PULLED OVER AGAIN, RESTARTED, PUT IN GEAR AND THE THROTTLE DID NOT RESPOND. I WENT THROUGH THIS FOR 6 RESTARTS UNTIL THE THROTTLE WOULD RESPOND. WE WERE DRIVING AT NORMAL FREEWAY SPEED AND I HAD A JOLTING SENSATION, LIKE A BAD TRANSMISSION SHIFT, FOLLOWED BY A LOSS OF ANY ACCELERATION OR RESPONSE FROM THE ACCELERATOR. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES I STARTED IT UP AND IT DROVE NORMALLY FOR THE REST OF THE 70 MILES OF OUR TRIP. THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT AT THE FORD DEALER SHOWED A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. STOPPED AT ADVANCE AUTO PARTS SINCE IT WAS EARLY EVENING, THEY PULLED DTC P2111 "THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK OPEN" FROM CAR'S COMPUTER AND HE SAYS THE THROTTLE VALUE IS STICKING. SCHEDULED SERVICE AT WORLD FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASED JUST FOUR MONTHS PRIOR. I WAS TOLD THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACING "THIS IS VERY COMMON, WE REPLACE THEM ALL THE TIME" HE SAID. I PURCHASED A POWERTRAIN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THE CAR THAT STATES IT COVERS THE "THROTTLE VALVE" AMONG ITS COVERED PARTS BUT THE SERVICE MAN FIRST SAYS THAT'S DIFFERENT THAN THE "THROTTLE BODY" (MY UNDERSTANDING IS THE THROTTLE VALVE IS THE PLATE INSIDE THE THROTTLE BODY THAT OPENS/CLOSES CONTROLLING AIRFLOW TO THE MANIFOLD, IT THAT IS "STUCK OPEN", IT SHOULD BE COVERED). HE THEN SAYS HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A "THROTTLE VALUE" IS AND SAYS IT WILL COST APPROX $350 TO REPAIR. ON TUESDAY, IT STARTED UP AND ONE MILE FROM THE HOUSE, IT CLUNKED OUT AGAIN AND LOST POWER. AGAIN I CALLED AAA TO TOW ME TO THE DEALER. I GUESS BECAUSE IT WAS A RECENT OCCURRENCE, THE CODE SHOWED UP IN THE DIAGNOSTIC SO THEY CLAIM IT IS FIXED BY REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE WRENCH LIGHT FOR THE TRANSMISSION CAME ON ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WE WERE AT AN INTERSECTION ON A 6-LANE HIGHWAY OVER 600 MILES FROM HOME. WE WERE ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY BY DRIFTING OFF TO A SIDE ROAD. THE ENGINE NEVER DIED, BUT HAD NO POWER AT ALL. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND STARTING IT BACK UP, IT RAN FINE AND WAS ABLE TO GET US HOME. HOWEVER, WITHIN ANOTHER COUPLE OF MONTHS IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN WHILE WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY APPROACHING MERGING TRAFFIC. WE WERE ABLE TO DRIFT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND START IT BACK UP. A MECHANIC CHECKED THE CAR, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETECT ANYTHING WRONG. IT DROVE FINE FOR ANOTHER 3-4 MONTHS THEN DID THE SAME THING AGAIN ONLY WE WERE ON AN INTERSTATE AND HARDLY HAD TIME TO DRIFT INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE BETWEEN TRAFFIC. IT AGAIN DID THIS AROUND 3 MONTHS AS I JUST MADE IT ACROSS THE HIGHWAY INTO THE RIGHT LANE. I IMMEDIATELY HAD TO DRIFT INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND START THE CAR UP. I TOOK IT HOME UNTIL WE COULD GET IT TO THE MECHANIC. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND HE AGAIN WAS UNABLE TO DETECT ANYTHING. HE KEPT THE CAR TO DRIVE HIMSELF FOR A WEEK, BUT NEVER WITNESSED THE WRENCH LIGHT COMING ON OR SLUGGISH GEAR CHANGING. HE ADDED FLUID TO IT AT A LACK OF KNOWING WHAT ELSE TO DO. WE DROVE IT CLOSE TO 2 MONTHS NOW AND IT LOST POWER WITH THE WRENCH LIGHT COMING ON 3 TIMES WITHIN A PERIOD OF 40 MINUTES ON A SMALL ROAD WHERE WE DIDN'T HAVE MUCH ROOM TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC AND ON THE HIGHWAY JUST AFTER PULLING ACROSS THE HIGHWAY. IT MAY NOT STALL FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. DEALER KEPT THE CAR FOR ONE WEEK, WITH A MECHANIC DRIVING IT AS IT WAS HOOKED UP TO PORTABLE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. IT NEVER STALLED, NOR DID IT SHOW ANY ENGINE LIGHTS. DEALER CLAIMS THEY CANNOT FIX IT IF THEY DO NOT SEE ANY INDICATORS ON DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND IF I WANT TO CONTINUE TO PURSUE THIS, I HAVE TO PAY FOR EACH TRIP. CERTAINLY, SOMEONE MUST HAVE AN IDEA OF WHAT IS CAUSING THIS AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. THE PROBLEM STARTED ALMOST A YEAR AGO BUT DID NOT SEEM TO OCCUR ALL THE TIME. FROM TAKE OFF, THE CAR WOULD STALL AND THEN RE-ENGAGE WITH GUSTO. UP UNTIL THE OTHER DAY THE CAR LOST ALL POWER BUT WAS IDLING. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY, ATTEMPTED TO LISTEN TO WHAT I HEARD AND THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD GAS ISSUE AND NOTICED THE WRENCH AND ENGINE LIGHTS WERE ON. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN RESTARTED TO HAVE FULL GAS PEDAL RESPONSE BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. I PROCEEDED DOWN THE ROAD TO THE INTERSTATE BUT DECIDED TO GET SOME FUEL (3/8 OF A TANK EXISTED) AND SOME FUEL ADDITIVE. THE CAR STOPPED AND STARTED WITHOUT AVAIL, AS I ENTERED THE INTERSTATE 30 RAMP THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AGAIN. I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER AND REPEATED THE PREVIOUS RESTART. I CALLED LANDERS FORD IN BENTON, AR AND TOLD THEM THE ISSUE AND WOULD BE BRINGING THE CAR INTO THE FACILITY. NOT WANTING TO GET BACK ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND POSSIBLY CAUSING A WRECK OR TRAFFIC BLOCKAGE, I DROVE USING THE OUTER ROAD, THE ISSUE OCCURRED AT LEAST TWICE WHILE EN-ROUTE. THIS IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM AS MY GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED AND COULD BE A MAJOR HIGHWAY SAFETY ISSUE FOR SOMEONE LIVING WITHIN THE MAJOR AREAS OF AMERICA. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE A COUPLE OF WEEKENDS AGO AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CRUISE CONTROL SHUT OFF AND I HAD NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. I PULLED OVER AND THE ENGINE SPUTTERED VERY BADLY. AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE ON AND OFF, I MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION. WHEN I WAS COMING BACK ON SUNDAY, THIS PRECEDED TO HAPPEN TWO MORE TIMES TO ME. ONCE WHEN I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A HEAVY TRAFFIC LOCATION. I COULDN'T ACCELERATE OR DO ANYTHING BESIDES BREAK AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT, WHICH WAS VERY CLOSE. I AM LUCKY THAT NO ONE GOT HURT BUT IT BECAME VERY EVIDENT THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE THROTTLE IN THIS CAR. AFTER RESEARCHING IT MORE, I STARTING READING SOME OF THESE SAME COMPLAINTS, AND THE FORD MECHANIC I TOOK IT TO EVEN SAID THIS ISN'T THE FIRST OR EVEN THE SECOND TIME HE HAS HEARD OF THIS FAILING ON THE 2010 MILAN. HE CLAIMED THAT WAS DUE TO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BOTTLE AND BELIEVED IT WAS FROM A DEFECTIVE UNIT ON MOST UNITS (GOOD TO KNOW THE PROBLEM EXCEPT IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, NOT RECALLED, AND COST ME $500). AFTER HEARING THIS, THERE IS NO WAY THAT THIS CAN NOT BE RECALLED AND FIXED ON EVERY MILAN THAT HAS THIS SAME UNIT WITH THE SAME SERIAL NUMBER. I HAVE HAD THREE INSTANCES OF THE CAR DECELERATING AND STALLING AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT OCCURRED TWICE ON 7/26/12 WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE CAR QUICKLY DECELERATED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE THROTTLE LIGHT APPEARED THE FIRST TIME AND AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF, THE CAR STARTED AGAIN; HOWEVER IT OCCURRED A SECOND TIME. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED 35 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS COLLISION DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WITH CARS AND TRUCKS TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE IN THE RIGHT LANE WITH EASY ACCESS TO THE SHOULDER HOWEVER, A TRUCK CARRYING A HEAVY LOAD HAD TO SWERVE TO PREVENT REAR ENDING ME. WHEN I TOOK CAR TO DEALER AFTER MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE, THEY SAID THEIR WERE NO CODES SHOWING SO THERE WAS NOTHING TO FIX.
