1999 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER TIRE BLOW OUT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR *JB THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE ROTORS WERE OUT OF ROUND.
WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS UNATTENDED ACCELERATION. CONSUMER'S FOOT ACTUALLY WAS ON THE BRAKE AND AT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. THE PEDALS WERE VERY CLOSE TOGETHER. ACCIDENT OCCURRED. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK.....ONCE OFF THE EXIT RAM SLID THROUGH GRASS AN DINTO PINE TREE. *AK
BRAKES FAILED SEVEN TIMES WITHIN 70,000 MILES. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE GEM CONTROL MODULE WAS THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE GEM CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTIONED, THE BRAKES FAILED, AND THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE DIDN'T OPERATE. ALSO, WINDSHIELD WIPERS OPERATED INTERMITTENTLY. *AK

CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 5 MPH AND HAD A BRAKE FAILURE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE CALIPER FAIL AND THE HAD GOT HOT AND THE SYSTEM FAIL. MR

WE HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AT LEAST 6 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY NOW SAY THAT ROTORS ARE BELOW SPECS, AND THAT SOMEONE HAS TURNED THEM TO GET THEM THAT WAY. ALL BRAKE PARTS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE ORIGINAL AND HAVE ONLY BEEN SERVICED BY A REGISTERED MERCURY DEALERSHIP. I AHVE TALKED TO THE MERCURY CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE DEPARTMENT TWO TIMES ALSO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. WE CANNOT GET ANYWHERE BUT THEY NOW SAY WE MUST REBUILD THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON THE FRONT OF THIS VEHICLE AT OUR EXPENSE. THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM WAS A GRINDING DRAGGING NOISE FROM THE FRONT THAT HAS WENT ON FOR OVER 6 MONTHS. WE ARE JUST SEEKING SATISFACTION AND FOR MERCURY TO CORRECT THEIR PROBLEM.*AK
