TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 MERCURY SABLE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION JERKED SEVERELY WITH EXTREME HESITATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHO STATED THAT THE REAR SUBFRAME WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED, WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 93V106000 (STRUCTURE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,219.

THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE RIGHT REAR SUBFRAME MOUNTING BUSHING HAD BROKEN DUE TO CORROSION. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO ASSIST WITH REPAIR COSTS AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 98V323000 (STRUCTURE: FRAME AND MEMBERS). THE CONTACT PLANNED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 103,325.

FREQUENT FAILURE OF ANALOG SPEEDOMETER. I HAVE A 95 MERCURY SABLE THAT HAS IT'S THIRD SPEEDOMETER. FIRST TWO REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. IT HAS FAILED AGAIN. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE AN ABNORMAL FAILURE RATE. I CALLED A SPEEDOMETER REPAIR SHOP AND THEY WERE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM ON THE 95-96 SABLE AND TAURUS. *NLM
RECALL 98 V 323 000/SUBFRAME CORROSION: UPON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP POSITION, DRIVER HEARD A CLUNK SOUND, AND THEN THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK THIS VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT PROBLEMS AS OUTLINED IN THE RECALL. THE PLASTIC MOLDING THAT WAS REPLACED AFTER CRASHED IS WAVY AND THE PLACE WHERE I GOT THE CAR FIXED AND FORD SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, FRONT COIL SPRINGS BROKE, CAUSING FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE TO DROP. *AK LOWER REAR SUBFRAME MOUNT PLATE NUT HAS BEEN REPLACED. FLUCTUATING SPEEDOMETER WAS REPLACED. STARTER AND WIRE HARNESS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. MUFFLER AND TAIL PIPE HAVE BEEN REPLACED. 2 FRONT COIL SPRINGS AND STRUT BEARING PLATES HAVE BEEN REPLACED. *SLC
RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE 98V323000. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS REFUSED DUE TO "MILEAGE ON VEHICLE, AND IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY." DEALERSHIP CHARGED HIM FOR MECHANIC TO LOOK AT VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *AK

DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS PART WOULD GO WITH ONLY 39,130 MILES ON IT. COULD THE SUBFRAME REAR PLATE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS MATTER???? . *AK
SPEEDOMETER FAILED TO OPERATE AFTER REPAIRS WERE DONE IN AUG 1997 WITH 20,000 MILE OF WEAR. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER REPAIRS WOULD BE AT CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. ALSO VEHICLE STALLED AND DIED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IN ADDITION, DEALER REPLACED TRANSMISSION/ THERMOSTAT/MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH/ MAP SENSOR/SPEED CONTROL SENSOR, AND REAR SUB-FRAME MOUNTS. *AK

TAILGATE WAS OPENED AND THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED , AND TAILGATE WINDOW SUDDENLY SHATTERED. DEALER HAS NOT BENN CONTACTED. *AK
REC'D NOTICE (#98V323000) & NOTIFIED DEALER. WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR SUBFRAME CORROSION.
KNOCKING AND JUMP-SHIFTING TRANSMISSION DURING ACCELERATION; KNOCKING TRANSMISSION DURING CRUISING AFTER ACCELERATION; ROUGHING/SCRATCHING BRAKING WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, PADS/DRUMS/DISCS ARE IN THE EXCELLENT CONDITION. SPEEDMETER NEEDLE JUMPED TO 85 MPH WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ONCE. STURCTURE FAILURE IN THE TRUNK, UP/RIGHT CORNER HAD A CRACK WHICH LET RAIN WATER LEAKS IN THE TRUNK. MY AIR CONDITION GIVES MILDREW/MUSKY WHEN USE. MY CAR WAS NEVER IN ACCIDENT.

FRONT DOOR DID NOT LOCK FROM INSIDE, 3-YEAR OLD WIGGLED OUT OF CAR SEAT, PULLED ON PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE AND FELL OUT ONTO THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING. *AK
