WHEREAS, THE LEVER FAILS CAUSING THE DIRECTIONAL LAMPS TO NOT SELF-CANCEL OR OPERATE, HEAD LAMPS THAT DO NOT TURN OFF WHICH CAUSES THE BATTERY TO DIE AND WINDSHIELD WASHERS THAT OPERATE CONTINUOSLY OR DO NOT TURN OFF. DEALER IS SUPPOSED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE LEVER WITH A REDISIDNED SWITCH. THE RECALL SUPPOSEDLY ONLY AFFECTED GALANTS BUILT BETWEEN 05/1998 TO 10/1999. MY GALANT WAS MANUFACTURED, ACCORDING TO MITSUBISHI, IN 11/1999. IT IS APPARENT THAT THEY CONTINUED TO USE THIS DEFECTIVE PART PAST THE 10/1999 CUTOFF DATE. THE DEALER AND MITSUBISHI HAVE SAID THAT I MUST PAY FOR THE REPAIR OF THIS DEFECTIVE PART. I AM ASKING THE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THIS DANGEROUS DEFECT FURTHER AND EXTEND THE RECALL COVERAGE TO ALL 2000 GALANT VEHICLES REGARDLESS OF MANUFACTURING DATE.*AK
