TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2000 MITSUBISHI MONTERO SPORT. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE REAR ENDED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO TWO VEHICLES AHEAD OF HER WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS IT ROLLED OVER AND LANDED ON ITS DRIVER'S SIDE. THE DRIVER'S AND FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE LEFT SHOULDER, HIP, KNEE, BACK, FACE, BACK, AND SPINE. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. DRIVER WAS WEARING HIS SEAT BELT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. DRIVER INCURRED BUMP TO HEAD AND BRUISED HIP. DRIVER DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL TRANSPORT. *TR *KB

THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS CRUSHED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN, BUT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT WAS UNINJURED. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES OF THE CRASH AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE HAD NEVER BEEN ANY MAINTENANCE OR REPAIR PERFORMED ON THE AIR BAGS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,000.
