I HEARD A NOISE WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE HITTING BUMPS, WHEN I STOPPED DRIVING AND LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE I NOTICED THE FRAME WAS RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH TO THE OTHER SIDE, AND ESPECIALLY BAD WHERE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BRACKET IS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME, ITS SO LOOSE IT DOESN'T LOOK SAFE TO DRIVE.

I TOOK MY VEHICLE FOR A BACK BRAKE INSPECTION. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE UNDERBODY OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY CORRODED WITH RUST AND SOME UNDERBODY FRAMEWORK ROTTED THROUGH. THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED UNREPAIRABLE AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO UNDERBODY RUST AND CORROSION TO THE METAL. *TR

I TOOK MY CAR TO INSPECT A BANGING NOISE UNDER THE LEFT REAR OF THE AUTO. UPON ISPECTION IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FRAME OF THE CAR WAS RUSTED AND ROTTED THRU THE ENTIRE FRAME . IT WAS FRACTURED IN SPOTS AND PARTS RUSTED ENTIRELY AWAY. IT WAS FOUND TO BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IT CAN NOT BE REPAIRED. THE MACHANIC TOLD ME IT IS A DEFECT IN THE METAL. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN A FLOOD AND I DON'T LIVE NEAR SALD WATER. THE REST OF THE CAR IS IN GOOD SHAPE. THE CAR IS NOW UNDRIVABLE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 MITSUBISHI MONTERO SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, HE BEGAN TO HEAR A BANGING NOISE FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, HE NOTICED THAT PART OF THE FRAME WAS FRACTURED. THE CONTACT REATTACHED THE FRAME AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. AFTER DIAGNOSIS, HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME EXHIBITED SEVERE RUST, FRACTURING AND THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 143,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR STATE INSPECTION AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR AXLE, FRAME AND THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE STATE INSPECTION OFFICER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 109,000.

I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO A GARAGE FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, UPON INSPECTION ATTENDANT INFORMED ME THAT THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY CORRODED AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I AM STUNNED TO LEARN THIS, AS I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND IT HAS BEEN GARAGED SINCE OWNERSHIP. I AM ANGRY, FRUSTRATED AND FEEL AS A CONSUMER THIS IS NOT RIGHT.

THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE AND STATED THE UNDER CARRIAGE WAS NOT FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE FRAME WAS FRACTURED AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

FOR MANY YEARS NOW, LIFT GATE OCCASIONALLY WOULD NOT OPEN, AFTER OPENING ONLY A SHORT TIME BEFORE. FOR EXAMPLE, I WOULD LOAD GROCERIES IN THE BACK, GET HOME AND BE UNABLE TO GET THE LIFTGATE TO OPEN TO GET THE GROCERIES OUT. I COULD NOT FIGURE OUT ANY ASSOCIATED REASON FOR THIS. RECENTLY, (FEB. '07) GATE WOULD NOT CLOSE AT THE STORE, ON ARRIVING HOME, GATE WOULD NOT OPEN AND HAS REMAINED THAT WAY SINCE. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO USE THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE SINCE THEN. *JB

WHEN IT RAINED, WATER LEAKED INTO THE PASSENGER CABIN VIA THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SEAL AROUND THE WINDSHIELD, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *JB
