DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH ON DRY ROAD CONDITIONS, A CLUNKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE BAY, AND POWER STEERING WAS LOST. ALSO, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER, AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. UPON INSPECTION, THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT HAD FRACTURED, AND THE BOLT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BOLT WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, WHO DENIED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FRACTURED BOLT BECAUSE A SAFETY RECALL WAS PERFORMED 5 YEARS EARLIER FOR THE RETORQING OF THE BOLT. THE VEHICLE HAD AIR CONDITIONING WORK AND THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT PERFORMED ONE MONTH PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, AND THE CONTACT WAS NOT SURE IF THAT WORK COULD HAVE AFFECTED THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT.

THE CONSUMER LOST STEERING CONTROL AND HIT A GUARD RAIL. *BF THE ROAD CONDITION WAS DRY, THE CONSUMER WASN'T BUCKLED UP, AND THE AIR BAG WASN'T INFLATED. THE VEHICLE WAS KICKED BACK TO THE RIGHT, OVERTURNED AND STOPPED. *SC *JB

DEALER DETERMINED THAT CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT DETACHED, CAUSING $900.00 DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. MANUFACTURER STATED THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT AFFECTED BY THE CRANK SHAFT PULLEY BOLT RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK

WHILE DRIVING 52 MPH, THE DRIVER STARTED TO HEAR DRILLING SOUNDS/VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING HE COULDN'T CONTROL THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. TRIED TO PUT ON BRAKES, NOTHING HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO FLIP AND SPIN AND WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. NEITHER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. SIX (6) INJURIES AND ONE (1) FATALITY. *AK*AK

MY VEHICLE IS WONDERING ON THE ROAD SO BAD THAT IT HAS BECAME A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. I CANN'T GET THE DEALER TO DO ANY THING ABOUT IT. MY VEHICLE IS DRIFTING ON THE ROAD SOME TIME TO THE RIGHT AND SOME TIME TO THE LEFT. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR THE PAST 15 MONTHS. I HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALER MORE THAN 15 TIMES, I HAVE SPENT MY MONEY AND TIME AND I'M GETTING NO WHERE. PLEASE HELP ME! I WILL PORVIDE THIS VEHICLE FOR ANY KIND OF TESTING. I HAVE SEARCHED AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS PORBLEM HAS CAUSED ACCIDENTS IN THE PAST WITH INJURIES. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WHEN IT HAD ONLY 15K MILES. IT WAS A PROGRAM CAR FROM MITSUBISHI.
