TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THROUGH A ROUNDABOUT, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FRONT PASSENGER PULLED THE MIDDLE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER FOUR TIMES AND LANDED ON ITS ROOF. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS WERE UNINJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A TOW LOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 280,000.

I PUT ON BRAKES PROBABLY ABOUT 10-20 FEET BEFORE I MADE A HIGH SPEED IMPACT WITH HIS PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL AND QUARTER PANEL WITH MY FRONT END. MY CAR TOOK THE IMPACT ON THE FRONT END AND MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I BELIEVE I HIT THE OTHER CAR AT ABOUT 50MPH AND IT SEEMS THAT MY AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. MY CAR WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS AND WAS NOT REPAIRED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS BENT AND BROKEN. I DO NOT KNOW IF IT WOULD HAVE HELPED BUT MY NECK WAS INJURED IN THE COLLISION.
