The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH over a bump in the road, and the front passenger’s side tie rod was fractured due to a corroded cross member, and the vehicle was undrivable. When visiting local dealership for a state inspection it was found the rear subframe of my 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander, 2WD Model XLS has rusted completely through. I an internet search it was found that this was a common occurrence and a highly dangerous issue and it would not pass for a safety inspection. It appears from the number of complaints posted on various message boards it is widely known that this inferior component exists in a number of years for this and other models in the Mitsubishi brand. While its was noted in posting that the Mitsubishi dealership recognized this defect as a recall item, it was not showing up in the NTSB safety recall list for my VIN [XXX] . Please advise as to the investigation into this serious component failure and the recall status via return email. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the front driver's side A-arm separated from the vehicle and the vehicle stopped abruptly, causing the contact's body to slam against the steering wheel. The contact sustained back pains and received medical assistance. Upon towing the vehicle, the contact noticed that the entire subframe was severally corroded. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where the subframe was replaced. However, the dealer did not replace other corroded components. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle began to leak fluids after the repair was completed. The contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH and making a turn, the brake pedal was depressed but went to the floorboard and failed to respond. The contact engaged the electronic parking brake but it failed to respond. The contact then purposely crashed the passenger's side of the vehicle into the guard rail in order to stop the vehicle. The driver's air bag exploded, propelling burning chemicals that burned the contact's left arm. The contact did not seek medical assistance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.

I have been having problems with the wheel turning towards the left. Once I went to Firestone and got tires I was told the my suspension is very loose. It is getting more hard to control the steering.

Our 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander has several rotted out holes the size of half dollar coins in our crossmember which is connected to the control arms and it is making a loud banging sound when we hit any bumps.

MAKING A BANGING NOISE WHEN TURNING AS THOUGH FRONT SUSPENSION IS BROKEN. I SEE THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I PURCHASED THE OUTLANDER FROM A DEALERSHIP USED AND WAS TOLD FIXING THE RECALLS WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM AFTER SIGNING PAPERWORK. UNKNOWN HISTORY AS I WAS LIED TO ABOUT ISSUES AND SALESMAN WAS FIRED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE.

MY SON ONLY WEEKS AGO WAS GIVEN HIS MOTHER'S 2007 OUTLANDER AS AN UPGRADE TO HIS FORMER VEHICLE. DAYS AGO, HE FOUND PIECES OF THE SUB FRAME BREAKING OFF UNDERNEATH AFTER HEARING AN ODD NOISE DURING OPERATION. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2007 IN OMAHA, NE. MITSUBISHI'S RECALL FOR SUB FRAME CORROSION DOES NOT INCLUDE VEHICLES PURCHASED IN NEBRASKA AS IT ISN'T IN THE NARROWLY DEFINED "SALT BELT" (ALTHOUGH IOWA IS INCLUDED). IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO OMAHA, NE DURING THE WINTER YOU WOULD KNOW THAT THE CITY PUTS AS MUCH SALT AND SALT BRINE ON THE ROADS AS ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE NATION--WINTER WEATHER, I.E. SNOW AND ICE-- IN OMAHA IS SEVERE. VEHICLES THAT ARE OPERATED REGULARLY IN THE OMAHA AREA RUST PREMATURELY AND THAT IS A FACT. THIS VEHICLE IS NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THE VALUE IS PROBABLY NEAR ZERO BUT MITSUBISHI WILL NOT COVER THE COST TO REPAIR. THE NHTSA SHOULD EXTEND THE SUB FRAME RECALL TO OTHER STATES WHERE THE USE OF ROAD SALT IS EXTENSIVE I.E. NEBRASKA, COLORADO, UTAH, ETC...THIS IS A TRAVESTY AND SHOULD BE RECTIFIED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE IS SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED DRIVING THESE VEHICLES.

TOOK MY 2007 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER XLS V-6 TO DEALERSHIP FOR SEVERAL RECALLS INCLUDING RECALL NO. 16V-458 / SR-16-003 ON MAY 05, 2018. I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD IT DID NOT REQUIRE THE CROSS MEMBER REPLACEMENT AND THE ANTI CORROSION SPRAY WAS PERFORMED. AROUND 7:00 PM EDT SATURDAY, MARCH 23, 2019 WHILE ENTERING A EXIT LANE ON US 119 NORTHBOUND AT THE GREEN ROAD EXIT, MY CAR MADE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND AND STARTING PULLING VERY HARD TO THE LEFT AND CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10-15 FEET. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ENTERING THE TURN LANE AND WAS SLOWING DOWN OR IT COULD HAVE EASILY FORCE ME INTO THE MEDIUM DIVIDER OR EVEN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I COULD NOT MOVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD AND PUT MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON TO AVOID BEING REAR ENDED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS VERY CONCERNED AS I HAD MY 3 YEAR OLD GRAND DAUGHTER WITH ME AND IT IS A VERY CONGESTED AREA. I TRIED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE TO SEE IF I COULD DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG. THE DRIVER DOOR HAD TO BE FORCED OPEN AS I LATER DISCOVERED AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE THAT THE FROM LEFT FENDER HAD BEEN PUSHED BACK INTO THE DOOR AREA BY THE FRONT TIRE. AFTER A QUICK INSPECTION IT APPEARED THE CONTROL ARM BROKE. AFTER REMOVING THE TIRE, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE CROSS MEMBER HAD SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE DUE TO EXTREME CORROSION CAUSING THE LOSS OF CONTROL AND ABRUPT STOP. THIS IS THE EXACT PROBLEM I HAD TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL AND WAS TOLD MINE DID NOT NEED REPLACED. I AM ATTACHING PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE TO SHOW THE MISSING AND BROKEN CROSS MEMBER. THERE IS NO WAY THIS CORRODED TO THE FAILURE POINT SINCE THE RECALL REPAIR WAS ALLEGEDLY COMPLETED. FURTHER MORE, IF TREATING THE AREA WAS SUPPOSEDLY SUFFICIENT TO PREVENT FURTHER CORROSION (AS OPPOSED TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CROSS MEMBER), THIS FAILURE SHOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN PLACE. THEREFORE, EVERY CROSS MEMBER SHOULD BE REPLACED!

PASSENGER SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING FRACTURED AND SEPARATED WHILE DRIVING. THIS SAME ISSUE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED TO NHTSA (COMPLAINT NUMBER: 11012748) FOR DRIVER SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING AS WELL AS TO MITSUBISHI NORTH AMERICA (BUT GOT NOWHERE).

ON JANUARY 2, 2018 OUR LOCAL OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURE WAS A NEGATIVE (-)20 DEGREES F. THAT MORNING WHILE STILL IN MY DRIVEWAY, BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS BROKE AND THE RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING PENETRATED THE INNER SIDEWALL OF THE 18" TIRE AND THIS RESULTED IN THE TIRE BECOMING TWO DISTINCT PIECES. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD, IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS AND POSSIBLE DEADLY ACCIDENT. UPON CONTACTING MY DEALER, I WAS TOLD THAT UPON SEARCHING THE MITSUBISHI DATABASE, THAT A TSB 14-33-002 WAS NO LONGER POSTED AT THE DEALER INTERNET ACCESS POINT, APPARENTLY IT HAD BEEN PURGED FROM THE SYSTEM. I LEARNED OF TSB-14-33-002 BY OTHER SEARCHING ONLINE. MITSUBISHI WOULD NOT COVER THE FAILURE, DESPITE IT'S SERIOUSNESS TO PUBLIC SAFETY. I AM CONCERNED THAT 2007 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDERS HAVE A METALLURGY PROBLEM OR FAULTY MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN, AND SHOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF A NATIONAL SAFETY RECALL - AT LEAST IN COLDER CLIMATE STATES THAT USE CALCIUM CHLORIDE OR SALT ON THEIR ROADS. I HAVE THE CAR CURRENTLY IN A HEATED GARAGE AWAITING AN INSPECTION BY NHTSA OR MITSUBISHI. MY COMPLAINT IN WRITING TO MITSUBISHI REMAINS UNANSWERED. I SUGGEST THAT IF THESE VEHICLE SUFFER FAILED FRONT COIL SPRINGS AND ARE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, THAT THE BROKEN COIL SPRING WILL BE CONSIDERED A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT RATHER THAN THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. IF THERE IS A CHAIN COLLISION INVOLVING OTHER VEHICLES, THEN AGAIN THE DRIVER MAY BE BLAMED AS THE CAUSE, WHEN IN REALITY THE FAILED SPRING WAS THE CAUSE. SUGGESTION: NHTSA MIGHT CHECK FOR ALL SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURE ACCIDENTS INVOLVING 2007 OUTLANDERS AND DETERMINE IF THEY SUFFERED BROKEN FRONT COIL SPRINGS AND A TORN UP FRONT TIRE. STILL NO NOTICE FROM MITSUBISHI THAT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. HAVE NOT DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE SINCE MID-AUGUST. CALLED MITSUBISHI CUSTOMER SERVICE SEPT. 30 AND WAS TOLD THAT PARTS ARE STILL NOT WIDELY AVAILABLE. CALLED NEAREST MITSUBISHI DEALER AND SOONEST APPOINTMENT I COULD GET IS OCTOBER 31! AND THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE BY THEN!! THE LETTER SAYS THAT, "MMNA IS MAKING EVERY EFFORT TO OBTAIN THESE PARTS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, AND WILL CONTACT YOU AGAIN BY MAIL WITH A FOLLOW-UP RECALL NOTICE WHEN REMEDY PARTS ARE AVAILABLE." IT'S ALREADY BEEN MORE THAN A MONTH SINCE WE RECEIVED THE INITIAL NOTICE, HAD OUR CAR INSPECTED BY OUR MECHANIC AND TOLD THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. WE HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER MONTH BEFORE THE DEALER WILL EVEN ALLOW US TO BRING THE CAR IN. TODAY (SEPT. 30) THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY'VE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO COMPLETED 6 OR 7 REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET PARTS. AS A CONSUMER, IT APPEARS THAT MITSUBISHI MOTORS NORTH AMERICA ISN'T DOING ENOUGH TO REMEDY THIS RECALL IN A TIMELY MANNER. WITH A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN LIKE THE POSSIBILITY OF "LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND A POTENTIAL COLLISION" THAT COULD RESULT IN NOT ONLY SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO THE PASSENGERS IN THE MITSUBISHI, BUT TO OTHER DRIVERS AND/OR PEDESTRIANS, I WOULD THINK THAT MMNA WOULD BE DOING EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO MAKE THESE REPLACEMENTN PARTS AVAILABLE.

CAR HAD BEEN "BOTTOMING OUT" OVER ROAD BUMPS AND HAD BEEN USED IN MAINE FROM 2007 - 2011, THEN IN NJ AFTERWARD. REPLACED MITSUBISHI PARTS INCLUDE: MN101368, 4056A079, 4156A014, MN184194, 4156A028, 4060A173, 4060A174, MN101372, MR272946, 4162A050,MR491946. (LINK-FRONT SUSPENSION STABILIZER, BUSHING-FRONT SUSPENSION STABILIZER, LINK-REAR SUSPENSION STABILIZER, BUSHING-REAR SUSPENSION STABILIZER, STRUTS, FRONT SUSPENSION, INSULATOR-FRONT SUSPENSION, BEARING- FRONT SUSPENSION STR, SHOCK ABSORBERS- REAR, INSULATOR - REAR SHOCK. I WAS LEAVING WORK AND ABOUT TO GET ONTO THE FREEWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR JERKED AND SWERVED OFF THE ROAD. I HAD IT TOWED TO A NEARBY MECHANIC AND HE COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT HE SEEN. THE FRONT CONTROL ARM WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND SNAPPED. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ON MY SAME EXACT CAR, YEAR AND EVERYTHING BUT MITSUBISHI SAID NO RECALL ON MY VIN #. WHICH MAKES NO SENSE TO ME CAUSE IT IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AS THE ONES WITH A RECALL. THE MECHANIC SAID I WAS LUCKY TO NOT BE ON THE FREEWAY YET WHEN THIS HAPPENED CAUSE I COULD BE DEAD. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5MPH BRAKING TO TAKE A LEFT HAND TURN WHEN I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK AND CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. AFTER EXISTING THE VEHICLE IT APPEARS MY FRONT SUSPENSION HAD SNAPPED AND MY DRIVERS SIDE TIRE WAS PUSHED INTO THE QUARTER PANEL HINDERING MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND MY PASSENGER TIRE WAS POINTING TO THE RIGHT. AFTER GETTING IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST AUTO BODY PLACE, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT SUB FRAME SNAPPED DUE TO RUST. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER WHO HAS PERFORMED ALL MAINTENANCE ITEMS, IT HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT FOR 7 OUT OF THE 9 YEARS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE. I WOULD HATE TO SEE HOW FAST THIS VEHICLE WOULD HAVE FAILED IF I DID NOT PERFORM ANY MAINTENANCE ON IT. WHAT IS VERY TROUBLING IS THE CAR IS ONLY 9 YEARS OLD AND THE NIGHT BEFORE I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH WITH MY 4 KIDS IN THE VEHICLE. MITSUBISHI WOULD NOT REIMBURSE AS THE REPAIR WAS NOT MADE AT A DEALERSHIP. I EXPLAINED THE CAR WAS VIRTUALLY UN-DRIVEABLE AND HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO GO TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY (NEAREST DEALER OVER 15 MILES AWAY). THE RESPONSE I WAS GIVEN WAS THAT I SHOULD HAVE HAD THE CAR INSPECTED AT A DEALERSHIP PRIOR TO THE SPRING BREAKING, AND THAT I SHOULD ALWAYS BE CHECKING FOR RECALLS AND TSB'S RELATIVE TO MY VEHICLE. THERE WERE FEW COMPLAINS ON THIS SITE, REGARDING SAME PROBLEMS ON A DIFFERENT MITSUBISHI MODELS AND ALSO RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NO.: 06V334000 FOR 2007 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE AFFECTING 1516 CARS. AS MUCH AS MITSUBISHI USES SAME SUSPENSION COMPONENTS FOR DIFFERENT MODELS OTHER MITSUBISHI VEHICLES MAY HAVE SAME ISSUES. MY MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER 2007 WAS REPAIRED AT MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIP ABOUT MONTH AGO. WE CONTACTED MITSUBISHI NUMEROUS TIMES SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT SINCE PART FAILED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY REFUSED TO PAY. WE MET ALL OF THE RULES AS SPECIFIED UNDER THE WARRANTY EXTENSION NOTICE. MITSUBISHI FAILED TO PAY FOR THIS KNOWN FAILED PART. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO DETERMINE WHY WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE. MITSUBISHI OFFERED NO HELP.

I CALLED THE MITSUBISHI PARTS DEPARTMENT NEAR MY AREA AND THEY HAD A SET, I TOLD THEM I WANTED TO FIND OUT IF MITSUBISHI WOULD HONOR THE WARRANTY SINCE THE MILEAGE WAS SO CLOSE, BEFORE I PAID FOR THEM. IT TOOK MITSUBISHI A COUPLE OF DAYS TO GET BACK TO ME. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE SPRINGS AND I WOULD DO THE LABOR MYSELF, THEY TOLD ME NO. I CALLED THE PARTS DEPARTMENT BACK THEY HAD ALREADY SOLD THE ONES THEY HAD IN STOCK. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY HAD TO ORDER THEM AND THEY WERE ON BACK ORDER (IT TOOK 2 WEEKS TO GET THEM). WHEN THE PARTS FINALLY CAME IN I GOT BOTH FRONT SPRINGS BECAUSE I WAS TOLD YOU SHOULD REPLACE BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. IT WAS A GOOD THING I ORDERED THEM BOTH BECAUSE THE DAY I WENT TO INSTALL THEM, I LOOKED AND NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD BROKEN WHILE THE CAR WAS JUST SITTING THERE AND THE CRAZY THING IS BOTH SPRINGS HAD BROKEN IN THE EXACT SAME PLACE. MITSUBISHI MUST HAVE A DATA BASE AND KNOWS PRETTY CLOSE TO WHEN THE SPRINGS ARE GOING TO BREAK AND MADE THE WARRANTY JUST SHY OF WHEN THEY WOULD BREAK. I JUST SEEMS THE ODDS OF BOTH SPRINGS BREAKING AT ALMOST THE EXACT SAME TIME IS ASTRONOMICAL. I KEPT THE SPRINGS IN CASE ANYBODY NEEDS TO SEE THEM. I ALSO LOOKED ON LINE AND FOUND QUITE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM ALL OVER THE USA AND CANADA AND DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER IF IT'S IN A COLD OR WARM STATE. MOST ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS WERE AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. MITSUBISHI SHOULD DO A RECALL BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF IT HAPPENS AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED.

THE YOKE THAT IS PART OF THE FRAME THAT HOLDS UP THE FRONT STEERING ASSEMBLY RUSTED THROUGH AND DOES NOT SUPPORT THE STEERING ASSEMBLY THE WAY IT SHOULD. THE CAR IS ONLY 7-1/2 YEARS OLD AND THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED. THERE WERE ONLY TWO REPLACEMENTS TO BE FOUND IN THE COUNTRY. ONE WAS A USED ONE FROM THE"SOUTH" SOMEWHERE, AND THE SECOND A NEW ONE FROM A MITSUBISHI WAREHOUSE IN CALIFORNIA. THE ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR IS ABOUT $1400. THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM WAS NO HELP. IT SEEMS THAT SINCE THERE ARE VERY FEW REPLACEMENT PARTS IN THE U.S. THIS MAY BE A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM FOR THESE VEHICLE. IN APRIL 2014 MITSUBISHI SENT OUT A SERVICE BULLETIN TSB-14-33-002 EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 9 YEARS/120,000 MILES ON OUR 2007 OUTLANDER AS THEY HAD "DETERMINED THAT THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS ON YOUR VEHICLE TO CORRODE FROM PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO ANTI-FREEZING AGENTS.....WHICH MAY CAUSE THE SPRING TO FRACTURE.". AT 151,281 MILES MY DAUGHTER WAS BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY, HEARD A VERY LOUD "CRACK" OR "SNAP" IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR WHILE SHE TURNED TO DRIVE AWAY. WE DROVE IT TO A NEARBY GARAGE WHO DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE INDEED FRACTURED. WE SPENT $1176.48 GETTING THE PARTS REPLACED. FORTUNATELY FOR US OUR DAUGHTER WAS NOT AT A HIGHWAY RATE OF SPEED OR WE ARE CERTAIN SHE COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND HURT. I HAVE CALLED MITSUBISHI FOR A REFUND, BUT SINCE THE MILEAGE WAS OVER THEIR "VOLUNTARY WARRANTY EXTENSION" THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME. IT IS CLEAR TO ME THAT MITSUBISHI HAS ACKNOWLEDGED A SAFETY ISSUE (POSSIBLY TO APPEASE NHTSA?) AND THEY ARE HIDING BEHIND A TECHNICALITY (SINCE I AM CIRCA 30,000 MILES PAST THE "EXTENDED WARRANTY") AND NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT - A PRODUCT WHICH THEY HAVE KNOWINGLY ACKNOWLEDGED A SAFETY DEFECT WITH THE COIL SPRINGS. MITSUBISHI SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REIMBURSE ME, AND ALSO TO RECALL THE AFFECTED VEHICLES AND REPLACE THE AFFECTED COMPONENTS AT THEIR COST AS THEY KNOW THEY HAVE VEHICLES RUNNING DOWN THE ROAD WITH BAD COIL SPRINGS. I RETURNED TO THE DRIVEWAY AND LATER JACKED UP THE CAR, REMOVED THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL AND NOTICED THE TOP SPRING OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUSPENSION WAS BROKEN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING IN REVERSE, A LOUD BANGING NOISE WAS HEARD OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING FRACTURED AND DURING THE REPAIR PROCEDURE, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRING FRACTURED UNEXPECTEDLY. BOTH COIL SPRINGS WERE REPLACED AND THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT BOTH COIL SPRINGS WERE DEFECTIVE DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DESIGN FLAW. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. FRONT SUSPENSION HAS A CLUNK EVERYTIME YOU TURN AND START FROM CERO. RADIO, BACKLIGHT IS TO LOW AND IS IMPOSSIBLE TO READ IT WITH SUNLIGHT IN COLD WEATHER THE VENTS FOR THE A/C CYCLES EVERY 15 SECONDS AND HEADLIGHT, INTERIOR LIGHT DIM EVERY TIME. PEOPLE THINK YOU ARE CHANGING LIGHTS WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF THIS CYCLING OF VENTS GOING ON WITH THE A/C ON. THE SYSTEM IS NOT NORMAL WORKING. EVERY OUTLANDER HAS THE SAME ISSUE. IS KIND OF ANNOYING TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH THE LIGHT DIMMING EVERY 15 TO 30 SECONDS. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED, BUT WOULD SHUT OFF AGAIN EACH TIME THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 4,200 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,100. THE CONSUMERS WIFE APPLIED THE BRAKES, BUT WHEN SHE DID THE VEHICLE STOPPED ABRUPTLY AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AT THE SAME TIME. WHEN SHE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT HOPPED RATHER THAN ROLLING SMOOTHLY AND THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AGAIN WITHOUT THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN. THE BRAKES WORKED FINE THE FIRST TWO TIMES, THEN WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED FOR THE THIRD TIME, THEY LOCKED UP AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AGAIN. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT PROBLEM MAYBE AN ABS ECU MALFUNCTION POSSIBLY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ESC. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE LEFT FRONT SUSPENSION OR BEARING. UPDATED 06/08/07. *JB
