WHILE I WAS PULLING OUT FROM A PARKING LOT, MY CAR JUST CUT OFF. I HAVE NOT HAD THE MONEY TO EVEN TAKE IT TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT UNTIL RECENTLY AND WAS TOLD THAT BOTH OF MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WERE GOING BAD AND THAT IT WOULD COST $1100 TO GET IT FIXED. SO I CHECKED ONLINE TO SEE IT WAS ANY RECALLS ON IT AND IT WAS SEVERAL BUT WAS TOLD IT DID NOT INCLUDE MY CAR. SINCE THE FIRST TIME THAT IT CUT OFF IT HAS DONE IT AT LEAST 6 MORE TIMES. ONCE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE RECALLS SAY MY MAKE AND MODEL AND MILEAGE OF MY ALTIMA BUT IT DOESN'T INCLUDE MY CAR. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V242000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE A SPARK PLUG WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BUTTERFLY SCREWS FRACTURED FROM THE POWER VALVES AND BECAME LODGED INTO THE CYLINDERS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

2004 NISSAN ALTIMA ENGINE FAILURE AFTER ONLY 35,000 MILES. THE ENGINE CONSUMES TOO MUCH OIL (LEAVING SLUDGE AND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE PAN). TOOK TO DEALER BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. WAS INITIALLY TOLD THAT THE OIL NEED TO BE CHANGED (CHANGED PRIOR TO THIS EVENT APPROX. 3,500 MILES BEFORE THIS EVENT). WAS CHARGED $2,300.00 FOR OIL CHANGE AND OTHER MAINTENANCE. HAD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK BECAUSE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON AGAIN. WAS TOLD THE ENGINE WAS NO GOOD AND TO GET RID OF THE CAR. THIS COULD CAUSE OVERHEATING AND FIRE. MY RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT SOME 2002 & OTHER YEAR NISSAN ALTIMA'S HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS OFFERED ABSOLUTELY NO HELP OR OFFERS OF ANY KIND. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS STRUNG ME ALONG FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS AND THEN WITH A PHONE CALL (AFTER I TRIED TO CONTACT THEM SEVERAL TIMES FOR UPDATES TO NO AVAIL, I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. WAS TOLD TO EITHER PURCHASE NEW ENGINE ($4,500) OR GET RID OF THE CAR BY THE DEALER. PRIOR TO THIS THE CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED, ESPECIALLY OIL CHANGES. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING*TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THERE IS STILL A MAJOR PROBLEM REGARDING THE RECALL FOR THE CRANK ANGLE SENSOR AND THE REPROGRAMMING OF THE ECM. THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRANK SENSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED ON SIX SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE RADIATOR WAS CRACKED AND WAS LEAKING COOLANT. THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR WAS LOOSE, THE SUN ROOF HAD A RATTLE AND THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WOULD GO UP, BUT AT TIMES IT WOULD COME BACK DOWN ON ITS OWN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REGULATOR MOTOR. ALSO, THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED. *JB

JUST AS DOZENS OTHERS HAVE ALREADY FILED AS COMPLAINTS I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE CAMSHAFT/CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. ORIGINALLY THIS SENSOR WENT BAD IN JUNE, 2008 AT 49,000 MILES. I HAD THE SENSOR REPLACED AND THE ECM REPROGRAMMED ACCORDING RECALL 06V242000. I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND FILED A COMPLAINT AND AFTER SOME BACK AND FORTH THEY AGREED TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR (APPROX. $500). ON MARCH 3RD, 2010 AT 70,885 THE CAR WOULD NOT START SO I HAD IT TOWED TO A CERTIFIED REPAIR SHOP WHO DIAGNOSED IT WITH A BAD CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AGAIN. THE REPAIR COST ME $265. CLEARLY THERE IS A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THESE SENSORS AND REPROGRAMMING THE ECM IS NOT A PROPER FIX. APPARENTLY EVEN REPLACING THE SENSOR ONCE (BY A NISSAN DEALER) DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. NISSAN NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR POOR CHOICE IN COMPONENTS AND PROVIDE A PERMANENT SOLUTION AND COMPENSATION FOR AFFECTED CONSUMERS. THIS RECALL DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. 12/31/2009 SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WAS TOLD IT WAS THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. CAR STALLED WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS ISSUE NISSAN ALTIMAS - 2002 TO 2006. MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SENSOR REPLACED ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. VERY DANGEROUS AS THE CAR APPEARS TO DRIVE WELL AND IT JUST SHUTS OFF. HAVE NOT CONTACTED DEALERSHIP YET FOR REPAIR, SENT AN EMAIL TO NISSAN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED 7 TO 10 TIMES, AND OCCASIONALLY WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH IN TRAFFIC. THE FAILURE ALMOST CAUSED ANOTHER VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO THE REAR OF HIS VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS DURING OR PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. NISSAN RECALL RO606 FOR 2003 AND 2004 ALTIMAS AND SENTRAS WITH 2.5 LITER ENGINES TO REPROGRAM THE ECM ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE SINCE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR MAY CAUSE THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING IF IT CANNOT TAKE A PROPER READING. MY CAR HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING STALLING AND IS HARD TO START. A RECENT 15K MILE SERVICE INTERVAL REVEALS THAT I HAVE 2 MOTOR MOUNTS WHICH ARE THE FLUID TYPE ARE LEAKING BADLY AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. I FEEL THIS MAY BE SAFETY RELATED AS IT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A MAJOR VEHICLE COMPONENT. MANY BLOGS REVEAL NUMEROUS MOTOR MOUNT ISSUES ON SEVERAL NISSAN MODELS THAT USE THESE FLUID TYPE MOUNTS. I FIND THIS VERY UNUSUAL SINCE I ONLY HAD 47,500 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WHEN I HAD THIS SERVICE DONE IN JUNE 08. ONE OF THE SERVICE ADVISORS I TALKED TO DID INDICATE HE HAS SEEN MANY FAILURES OF THESE MOTOR MOUNTS AS WELL AS THE CRANK CASE SENSOR WHICH NISSAN DID REPLACE AT NO CHARGE BUT REFUSES TO REPLACE THE MOTOR MOUNTS. ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AND VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START BACK UP, WAITED 10 MINUTES AND IT FINALLY STARTED BACK UP. DROVE 1 BLOCK AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED, DASH LIGHTS CAME ON, CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS A FAULTY CAM AND CRANK SENSOR AND IT WAS $258 TO REPLACE IT. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I FOUND THAT THE SAME PART, CAM AND CRANK SENSOR, WAS RECALLED ON PRIOR AND LATER ALTIMA MODELS, BUT 2004 MODELS WERE EXCLUDED. THE SAME PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPEATED OVER AND OVER ON SAFECAR.GOV AS WELL AS NUMEROUS OTHER WEBSITES. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND WHERE I TOOK IT TO BE REPAIRED AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE SEEMINGLY CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THIS PART ON THE ALTIMAS AND THEY DIRECTED ME TO NISSAN. I CONTACTED NISSAN DIRECTLY AND MY FILE WAS ESCALATED TO THE REGIONAL MANAGER WHO REQUESTED THAT I FAX HIM THE INVOICE RECEIPT FOR PAYMENT AND MY VEHICLE REGISTRATION AND HE WOULD HAVE IT REVIEWED TO SEE IF IT QUALIFIED FOR REIMBURSEMENT. HE TELEPHONED ME 2 DAYS LATER AND INFORMED ME THAT I DID NOT MEET THE QUALIFICATION FOR REIMBURSEMENT. THIS IS A FAULTY PART AND MANY, MANY 2004 NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH. NOT PLACING A RECALL ON THIS PART IS PUTTING MANY LIVES IN DANGER AS THE CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING AND YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER IT WHATSOEVER. EVEN THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND YOU CANNOT STEER THE CAR AWAY FROM TRAFFIC. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I OWN A 2004 NISSAN ALTIMA, IN APRIL 07 I EXPERIENCED THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND PAID TO HAVE THE CRANK SENSOR REPLACED. I SUBSEQUENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND CONTACTED NISSAN WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS ELIGIBLE FOR A REIMBURSEMENT. AFTER FAXING ALL THE RELEVANT INFORMATION, I WAS TOLD AFTER WAITING 3 MONTHS THAT I WAS DENIED A REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE THE RECALL TIME HAD LAPSED. THE CRANK ANGLE SENSOR WAS RECALLED ON MY NISSAN 2004 ALTIMA. I TOOK THIS IN TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS FIXED.......EXCEPT 2 WEEKS AFTER MY CAR BEGAN TO DO THE SAME THE IT WAS ALREADY DOING. IT GOES DEAD WHEN I AM PULLING AWAY AT A RED LIGHT OR TURNING. IN DECEMBER OF 2007, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE IS STILL SHUTTING OFF. ON JUNE 21, 2008, THE ECM WAS REPLACED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,613 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2004 2.5 LITRE NISSAN ALTIMA ON HIGHWAY ABOUT 60 MPH I FELT AN ABRUPT JERK LIKE NOISE IN THE TRANSMISSION, ALMOST EVEN LIKE A MISFIRE OF SOME SORT. ALL I KNOW IS THAT IT WAS ODD AND DID NOT SEEM RIGHT. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING, MY "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND HAS STAYED ON. WHILE MY CAR DID NOT STALL OR IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN, IT WAS HARD TO CRANK AFTER SHUTTING DOWN. I HAD DIFFICULTY CLIMBING HILLS AS THE CAR LACKED THE POWER AND DIFFICULTY SHIFTING DOWN. IN TROUBLESHOOTING THIS PROBLEM, I IMMEDIATELY CHECKED THE GAS CAP. THIS DID NOT SOLVE MY PROBLEM. I TOOK IT INTO THE MECHANIC. HE HAS HAD MY CAR FOR TWO DAYS. HE FOUND THE PROBLEM TO BE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND HE SAID IT WAS DIFFICULT TO GET TO FOR REPAIR AS WELL AS HAVING PROBLEMS REMOVING IT. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A BILL FOR THIS REPAIR BUT WITH THE LABOR INVOLVED TO REMOVE THIS SENSOR, IT WON'T BE CHEAP. WHY ON EARTH ARE MANUFACTURERS PUTTING PARTS INTO PLACES THAT ARE DIFFICULT AND COSTLY TO REPAIR. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THE AVERAGE "JOE" WHO LIKES TO WORK ON HIS OWN CAR, CAN'T EVEN DO THIS ONE! NOW, THE OTHER LUDICROUS PROBLEM IS THAT NISSAN APPEARS TO NOT HAVE INCLUDED THE 2004 NISSAN 2.5 ALTIMA IN THE "RECALL" CAMPAIGN FOR THIS FAULTY SENSOR. THAT SPELLS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND COMPLAINTS TO MY ATTORNEY GENERAL AND BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. ON 2/5/08 WE STARTED OUR 2004 NISSAN ALTIMA AND HAD NO POWER STEERING. UPON OBSERVATION THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS NOT TURNING. I WAS DRIVING MY GIRLFRIENDS 2004 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON 2/15/2008 WHEN THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED AND THEN DIRECTLY UPSHIFTED HARD. I GOT TO MY DESTINATION AND TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR WHEN I LEFT IT CRANKED LONGER THAN USUALLY, IN FACT UNUSUALLY LONG BUT IT DID START UP. I GOT BACK ON THE HIGHWAY TO GO HOME AND WHILE GETTING ON THE ON RAMP TO THE HIGHWAY THE CAR SHUT OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. I DID WHAT I COULD TO GET THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER AND WAITING A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR. I DID GET IT RESTARTED AND TOOK CITY STREETS TO AUTOZONE TO HAVE THE CODES READ FROM THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT. I HAD 2 CODES, ONE BEING P0725 AND P0355. I ONCE AGAIN TOOK CITY STREETS HOME TO AVOID THE SAME THING HAPPENING GOING 70MPH. I GOT IT HOME THAT FRIDAY THE 15TH AND PUT IT IN THE GARAGE. I GOT ONLINE AND WENT TO NISSANCLUB.COM AND RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM. I FOUND OUT THAT THE P0335 IS THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR MALFUNCTION AND THAT CAUSED MY CODE OF P0725 BEING THE ENGINE SPEED SENSOR. THROUGH RESEARCHING THIS IS A VERY BIG PROBLEMS WITH THE 2002-2006 ALTIMAS, MAINLY THE 2.5 4CYLINDERS. NISSAN ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE 2002-2005 AND 2006 ALTIMAS BUT FAILED TO INCLUDE THE 2003 AND 2004 IN IT. NOW WHY WOULD THEY NOT PUT THE SAME FAULTY SENSORS IN THE 2003'S AND 2004'S AND SKIP AHEAD AND PUT THEM IN THE 05'S AND 06'S. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY THE 18TH TO VERIFY HER CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND IT WASN'T. THIS IS NISSANS DELIBERATE ATTEMPT TO NOT TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAULTY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSORS PUT IN THE 2002-2006 ALTIMAS. I PAID FOR THE $30.00 SENSOR, ALSO ANOTHER $30 SENSOR THAT IS RECOMMENDED REPLACED WITH THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND SPENT 3 1/2 HOURS OUTTA MY DAY TO REPLACE THE HARD TO GET SENSOR. ONE MONTH AGO I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHEN MY CAR, THAT HAD NEVER GIVEN ME ANYTHING BUT USUAL MINOR PROBLEMS, SUDDENLY STOPPED WHILE RUNNING AT LOW SPEED. THE VIN NUMBER OF MY CAR IS WITHIN THE POSTED VIN'S OF THIS CAMPAIGN - HOWEVER THEY NOW SAY THE "CAMPAIGN" IS VIN SPECIFIC, AND YOU GUESSED IT - MY VIN ISN'T ON THEIR LIST. $700.00 LATER THE DEALER WON'T PAY, NISSAN AMERICA REFUSES TO HONOR THE FIX LISTED IN THEIR OWN CAMPAIGN THIS IS A KNOWN DESIGN FLAW ISSUE, SAME CAR, SAME ENGINE SIZE, WITHIN THE VIN NUMBERS LISTED. I RECENTLY RECEIVED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION LETTER FROM NISSAN NORTH AMERICA FOR A SAFETY RECALL DUE TO THE POTENTIAL THAT THE ENGINE MIGHT STOP RUNNING WHILE BEING DRIVEN DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM BETWEEN THE CRANK ANGLE SENSOR AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM). THIS COULD RESULT IN A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. *AK THE NOTICE FURTHER ADVISED THAT MY NISSAN DEALER WOULD REPROGRAM THE ECM, FREE OF CHARGE. THIS SERVICE SHOULD TAKE ABOUT 1 HOUR TO COMPLETE. I MADE ARRANGEMENTS WITH MY DEALER TO HAVE THIS SERVICE PERFORMED ON MY ALTIMA. WHILE IN FOR THIS SERVICE, I WAS CALLED BY THE DEALER AND NOTIFIED THAT SEVERAL UNRELATED SERVICE ITEMS WERE FOUND. THEY DID NOT FORCE THEM ON ME BUT DID THEY DID TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO 'SELL' THEM....BETTER GAS MILEAGE (CLEAN THROTTLES) AND BRAKE PERFORMANCE (REPLACE BRAKE FLUID). WELL, THE FREE SERVICE TO 'REPROGRAM' THE ECM, TURNED INTO A SERVICE BILL IN THE $450.00 RANGE. THE LIST COST TO REPROGRAM THE ECM WAS $58.00. SO, I AVOIDED A $58 CHARGE BUT WAS 'SOLD' ADDITIONAL SERVICES SO NISSAN ACTUALLY GENERATED CLOSE TO $400 IN REVENUE ON A 'FREE' RECALL. THE NHTSA RECALL NUMBER IS 06V-242. IT OCCURRED TO ME THAT IF 100,000 OTHER CONCERNED ALTIMA OWNERS RESPONDED TO THE RECALL, WERE 'SOLD' SIMILAR 'NEEDED' SERVICE, NISSAN WOULD COLLECT $40,000,000 IN SERVICE FEES.....A MINOR REPROGRAMMING RECALL COULD TURN INTO A LARGE PROFIT GENERATING MACHINE. TL*- THE CONTACT HAS A 2004 NISSAN ALTIMA AND STATED THAT SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GET A RECALL WORK PERFORMED ON THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION AT THE DEALER. ON MARCH 20, 2007 THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT. THE CONTACT FELT THAT SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR SINCE THE RECALL REPAIR SHOULD FIX THE FAILURE WITH THE CRANKSHAFT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE BOTH 67,812 MILES.

"ENGINE SERVICE SOON LIGHT" CAME ON AND TOOK CAR TO THE SHOP ON 10/31/06. AT THE TIME IT CAME ON THERE WERE NO RUNNING PROBLEMS. NISSAN DEALER REPLACED REAR 02 SENSOR AND DIAGNOSES AND REPROGRAMMED ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. ON 11/20/06 (LESS THAN THREE WEEKS LATER) THE "ENGINE SERVICE SOON LIGHT" CAME ON AGAIN. PRIOR TO TAKING THE CAR THERE WERE NO RUNNING PROBLEMS. NISSAN DEALER CHECKED VEHICLE AND CALLED ME AND SAID THAT THEY NEED TO RUN ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST FOR ANOTHER FEE. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING UP AN DOWN AND WOULD ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. P2135 THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR FOUND, REPLACED SENSOR AND CLEARED CODES. I WAS CHARGED ON BOTH OCCASIONS FOR A TOTAL OF $668. *JB

I AM THE OWNER OF A 2004 NISSAN ALTIMA. PRESENTLY THE ENGINE NEEDS REPAIRING. I TOOK MY CAR TO CROWN NISSAN IN GREENSBORO,NC TO BE SERVICED. AFTER A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, THE SERVICEMEN INFORMED ME THAT MY POWER VALVE SCREW CAME LOOSE FALLING IN THE ENGINE CAUSING IT HARM. I RENTED VEHICLE FOR THE WEEKEND AND USED IT FOR 1 DAY. I DROVE IT DOWN STATE TO CHAMPAIGN 250 MILES AND MADE A STOP. WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND STARTED IT UP, IT HESITATED TO CHANGE GEARS BUT DID, SO I TURNED AND DROVE THE CAR HOME TO CHICAGO. THE WEATHER TEMPERATURE WAS VERY FRIDGET OUTSIDE . WHEN I GOT TO CHICAGO THE VEHICLE STOPPED I COULD START IT UP BUT IT WOULD GO INTO GEAR. THE ENGINE SOUNDED VERY FINE THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE NOTICEABLE, NO LOUD NOISES IN THE CAR. I CALLED ENTERPRISE AAA TOWED THE CAR TO THE ENTERPRISE RENTAL PLACE. I RENTED A SMOKE COLOR VEHICLE. MY INSURANCE COMPANY SAID THAT HE IS CHARGING ME $5,000.00 FOR A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION FOR A 2005 NISSAN AND FOR A SERPENTINE BELT AND A OIL CHANGE . THE VEHICLE HAS ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED. I PURCHASED MY 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA IN DECEMBER OF 2001 WITH 4 MILES ON IT IN MID OCTOBER. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE TAKEN IT OVER AND OVER TO THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT BECAUSE IT CUTS OFF ON ME OUT OF THE BLUE. IT CUT OFF FIRST GOING DOWN A HILL, THE WHEEL JUST LOCKED AND IT SHUT DOWN. I IMMEDIATELY I CONTACTED PASSPORT NISSAN AND SHEEY NISSAN IN MARYLAND AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN ON THE NEXT DAY. NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID WE CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AT THIS TIME. A FEW WEEKS LATER IT CUT OFF AGAIN I HAD TO PUSH IT OFF THE ROAD. I CALLED NISSAN1 USA THE FOLLOWING DAY TO REPORT THIS THEY SAID TO TAKE IT BACK TO A NISSAN DEALER. NISSAN 1 USA DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY KIND OF SUPPORT, GUIDANCE OR SOLUTIONS TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED THEM ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT TIMES AND MADE MENTION TO A CASE NUMBER THAT THEY GAVE ME BUT FOR SOME STRANGE REASON THEY COULD NEVER FIND MY CASE NUMBER AND I HAVE TO RESTART THIS WHOLE BORING PROCEDURE OVER AGAIN. I HAVE HAD MY CAR TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 4 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER MAINTAINS THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND OR DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR AT 20,000 MILES AND STILL REMAINS ON UNTIL THIS DAY WHICH CURRENTLY HAS ACCUMULATED 100,000 MILES (UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO MY LINE OF BUSINESS I NEED DAILY TRANSPORTATION TO TRAVEL BACK AND FORTH THROUGH CITIES AND THROUGH STATES) MY CAR RIGHT NOW (CORRECTION NISSAN PIECE OF CAR) RIGHT NOW WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 30 MPH. IT CONTINUES TO CUT OFF AND WHENEVER I TAKE THIS TO THE DEALER THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT OR DONT EVEN PROVIDE A RENTAL CAR AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR DIFFERENT THINGS THAT THEY SAY MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM.
