Car engine cuts off. After that I have no power steering, no acceleration, brakes need to be pumped. The first years of me owning the car I had the sensors replaced by auto shop and dealership under extended car warranty. Pretty much been replacing the sensors ever since for the past 8 years. I believe I replaced over 10 sensors of the time I owned my Nissan. I can be on the hallway, streets anywhere with out any warnings my car engine will stop. It has to do with turning back on the car while it's warm. That's when I seen the problem the most.
The engine has a hole in it and I bought the car without knowing the engine had a whole in it and I asked the dealer Mark Brown where there any major damages he said no. Also my car smoked while I was driving and I could have majorly endangered my life without knowing.

The engine began to stall out randomly when driving down the road. After two times the engine light came on it stated that the crankshaft sensor was off. Since then, the engine light turned off bu, the problem still persists. When driving at low speeds through a city area, will cut off randomly. I have contacted Nissan regarding their recall about this exact problem of the crankshaft causing the engine to cut off but was simply told that my VIN number does not qualify under the recall even though it is exactly what the recall is for. Was also told that even if I were to get it inspected and checked for the problem that I would not be covered under the recall because they considered it "wear and tear." the car is only at 110000 miles and has this extremely dangerous problem, but Nissan refuses to help fix their mistake.

THE CARS WILL INCREASE SPEED AS IF I AM READY TO RUN INTO A BRICK WALL. THIS CAR DOESN'T HAVE A LOT OF MILEAGE BUT SOMETHING IS GOING ON WITH THE TIMING AND ENGINE. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS THE BELT BECAUSE THE BELT FROM COMING OFF YOU CHANGE THE SERPENTINE BELT AND THEN IT WOULD RUN FOR A LITTLE BIT THEN IT STARTED TO STOP AND NOT BE ABLE TO GET ENOUGH FUEL TO THE GAS PEDAL AND I'D HAVE TO REV IT UP. THE FAN TURNS ON LIKE IT IS RUNNING BUT THERE IS NO POWER TO THE CAR AT ALL. I READ THAT AFTER THE OIL GETS INTO THE VALVE COVERS THERE'S REALLY NO FIXING IT AFTER THAT. AND EVERY TIME THAT WE FIX IT ONLY LAST FOR ONE DAY AND SO IT'S VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME AND MY DAUGHTER TO BE DRIVING AROUND IN THAT UNRELIABLE CAR WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THE RECALL.

NISSAN USED PARTS IN THE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEM WHICH PREMATURELY FAIL AND WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR AFTER WARRANTY. THE ISSUE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DISCOVERED UNTIL IT HAD ALREADY FAILED AND IN THIS CASE, IS NOT A REPAIR THE OWNER CAN PERFORM ON THEIR OWN. CERTAIN MECHANICS HAVE EVEN CHOSE NOT TO PERFORM THIS REPAIR AND THE ONES WHICH ARE ABLE TO, CHARGE IN THE $2000+ RANGE. WHEN CONTACTING NISSAN ABOUT THIS ISSUE, THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT HAD SAID IT WOULD HAVE TO HAVE BEEN REPAIRED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. ONCE THE TIMING IS EFFECTED, THE ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN SEEM TO HAVE DROPPED IN PERFORMANCE IN WHICH I HAVE VERY SLUGGISH ACCELERATION AND CANNOT READY SPEEDS OVER 30 MPH. THERE IS NO WAY I WAS ABLE TO EVEN CHECK IF THE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEM HAD SIGNS OF GOING BAD, AND IF THERE WAS A RECALL, THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS. THIS FAULTY SYSTEM CREATES AN UNSAFE, UNRELIABLE MACHINE WHICH NISSAN SHOULD TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY.

I CHECKED WITH NISSAN AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2005 ALTIMAS BUT MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THE CAMSHAFT WAS REPLACE. LAST WEEK MY CAR TRANSMISSION STARTED JERKING AND SHORTLY AFTER THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I FORWARDED AN E-MAIL TO NISSAN ASKING WHAT WAS THE PARAMETERS OF THE RECALL AS THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME MY CAR HAD THIS PROBLEM. THEY RESPONDED THAT MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND TO SEEK ASSISTANCE FROM MY LOCAL DEALER. I HAVE DEALT WITH THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN THE PAST AND THERE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. I HAVE READ THAT THIS SENOR CAN CAUSE MY CAR TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. I AM IN FEAR THIS WILL HAPPEN ON A NYC HIGHWAY, IN A DESERTED OR HIGH CRIME AREA. DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE THAT WOULD MAKE NISSAN PAY FOR THIS $400.00 PLUS REPAIR?

AT 80K MILES, THE 3.5L INFINITY/350Z MOTOR THAT HAS BEEN *VERY* WELL TAKEN CARE OF HAD A KNOWN ISSUE OCCUR WHICH CAUSED THE VALVE TO COME LOOSE IN THE ENGINE. THERE IS A PROBLEM WHERE SOME SCREWS WHICH HOLD A BUTTERFLY VALVE TOGETHER WIGGLE LOOSE AND IS INGESTED INTO THE ENGINE. THIS CAUSES THE VALVE TO GET DAMAGED AND FALL OUT RESULTING IN TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE. NISSAN KNOWS THIS OCCURS AND IS UNWILLING TO HELP ME WITH THE REPAIR. THE FIX IS SIMPLE TO PREVENT IT, SECURE THOSE SCREWS WITH SOME GLUE OR LOCK TIGHT, BUT IF THEY ADMIT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW, THEN THEY'D BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGED ENGINES AND THEY SEEM TO PREFER TO DENY IT. ABOUT 2 YRS AGO THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY NISSAN. I TOOK IT FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND IT CAME UP WITH TWO CODES THAT AT THIS POINT I DON'T REMEMBER. HOWEVER, WHAT I WAS TOLD IS THAT I NEEDED MY CRANKSHAFT SENSOR REPLACED. I CHECKED ONLINE FOR INFORMATION ABOUT THIS SENSOR AND I CAME ACROSS A RECALL FOR THIS SENSOR. AROUND THE SAME TIME MY HEADLIGHTS STARTED BURNING OUT BULBS ALSO. I ALSO NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL ON A HEADLIGHT ISSUE. I CONTACTED A LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO CHECK MY VIN TO SEE IF I QUALIFIED FOR THE RECALL AND I WAS TOLD MY VIN WAS SUPPOSEDLY ONE OF THE IMPACTED ONES. WHICH IS TOO COINCIDENTAL. MY CAR STALLS WHILE RUNNING AND AT TIMES WILL NOT START. AND I SAY WILL, BECAUSE, I BROUGHT IT IN TO 2 DIFFERENT SHOPS FOR REPLACEMENT AND NEITHER COULD FIND A COMPATIBLE SENSOR. THEY EVEN ORDERED ONE FROM NISSAN AND IT DID NOT FIT AND WERE UNABLE TO FIX IT. THEY APOLOGIZED AND SAID THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT BUT WOULD EVENTUALLY NEED TO SOMEHOW REPLACE IT. I HAVE SINCE CONTINUED DRIVING IT, AS IT IS THE ONLY VEHICLE I HAVE. IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND TURNS OFF MY OFTEN. I AM ASKING FOR SOME TYPE OF HELP. I AM OUT OF OPTIONS. HI, I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE 2008. I REVIEWED SERVICE RECORDS FROM 2005 PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE. THERE HAS BEEN AN EXTREMELY LARGE AMOUNT OF ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE MOST RECENT OF WHICH IS THE "GREY" AREA OF THE ECM ISSUE IN COORDINATION WITH FAMOUS THE CAMSHAFT CRANKSHAFT FAULT P0355 & P0131. I'M AN ENGINEER AND FULLY UNDERSTAND THE MECHANICS OF A VEHICLE. THIS SENSOR WAS A FAULTY DESIGN FROM THE BEGINNING IN WHICH OIL COULD ENTER INSIDE THE SENSOR, THEREFORE CAUSING A SHORT AND DISABLING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION. THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO ME AND WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. TO FIX THE ISSUE CHEAPLY, NISSAN ISSUED A RECALL TO REPROGRAM THE ECM IN ORDER TO RECOGNIZE THE ?FAULTY? CRANKSHAFT SENSOR PART. BUT IN ORDER TO SAVE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, NISSAN WOULD NOT INCLUDE THE WARRANTIED REPLACEMENT OF THE FAULTY CRANKSHAFT SENSOR DESIGN (MAGNET SENSOR). INSTEAD, THE CONSUMER (MYSELF) WOULD HAVE TO PAY BETWEEN $300 & $450 TO HAVE THE SENSOR REPLACED WITH THE ?NEW & IMPROVED VERSION?. NEW AND IMPROVED MEANS THE PROPERLY DESIGNED VERSION. THE INITIAL DESIGN SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT IT WASN'T. IT DOESN'T TAKE AN ENGINEER TO FIGURE THIS OUT BUT I AM ONE AND FULLY UNDERSTAND THE ?BIG PICTURE? AFTER RUNNING SOME DIAGNOSTICS, THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS AND CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I ASK IF THERE WAS ANY RECALL ISSUE REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID NONE. THE CALCULATED TOTAL COST WAS $631.00. AFTER FURTHER NEGOTIATION THE PRICE WENT DOWN TO $550.00. WHILE WAITING FOR THE SERVICE TO BE FINISHED I BROWSED THE NET AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE ALSO THE SAME PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED BY OTHER NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS. WE LATER FIND OUT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. I OWN A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH ONLY 51,570 MILES AND I NOTICED A STRANGE SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I USE TOP GRADE GAS AND HAVE HAD THE OIL CHANGED EVERY 3000-3500 MILES. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND FOUND THAT IT WAS THE TENTIONER FOR THE TIMING BELT. HAVE HE GOT TO THE ITEM HE SHOWED ME WHERE THE HARD PLASTIC CLIP HAD BUSTED OFF AND HAD THE ALLOWED THE TIMING BELT TO BECOME SLOPPY. THANK GOD I HAD A EXTENDED WARRANTY SO IT WAS COVERED HOWEVER, NOW I NOTICE I AM USING EXCESSIVE OIL. I ONLY NOW HAVE 51,880 MILES AND HAD TO ADD 1 QT OIL. IN CHECKING WITH WEB SITES IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE PRE-CATS CAUSING ISSUES AND NISSAN IS AWARE BUT WILL NOT DO A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE.
