Car did a jerk while I was driving in the interstate never lost speed didnt hit anything it was like a big jerk no noise no smoke no lights came on nothing so I got to my mom house parked no smoke no dent no nothing right well got ready to go a couple hours later no reverse fluid level was kinda low but no leaks now yesterday getting readyto leave work I have no foward either what is this seem like a drive shaft issue to me

AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS THE BELT BECAUSE THE BELT FROM COMING OFF YOU CHANGE THE SERPENTINE BELT AND THEN IT WOULD RUN FOR A LITTLE BIT THEN IT STARTED TO STOP AND NOT BE ABLE TO GET ENOUGH FUEL TO THE GAS PEDAL AND I'D HAVE TO REV IT UP. WE OPENED IT UP WHERE THE SPARK PLUGS WERE ON THE VALVE COVERS AND IT WAS HALFWAY FULL OF OIL WE GOT ALL THE OIL OUT WHEN WE ORDERED A NEW VALVE COVER AND SPARK PLUGS THE CAR RUN FINE FOR ONE DAY NOW IT WILL NOT START AGAIN. THE FAN TURNS ON LIKE IT IS RUNNING BUT THERE IS NO POWER TO THE CAR AT ALL. I READ THAT AFTER THE OIL GETS INTO THE VALVE COVERS THERE'S REALLY NO FIXING IT AFTER THAT. AND EVERY TIME THAT WE FIX IT ONLY LAST FOR ONE DAY AND SO IT'S VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME AND MY DAUGHTER TO BE DRIVING AROUND IN THAT UNRELIABLE CAR WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THE RECALL.

1. THREE HANDLES ON THE NISSAN ALTIMA ON MY CAR HAVE SNAPPED OFF WHEN OPENING. EVEN AFTER REPLACING THEM THEY STILL SNAP OFF PROBABLY BECAUSE IN COLD WEATHER THEY BECOME BRITTLE. IF HE HANDLES WERE METAL THEY WOULD NOT SNAP OFF. MY CONCERN IS IF DURING AN ACCIDENT BEFORE EMERGENCY VEHICLES COULD ARRIVE THAT IF SOMEONE WERE TO TRY TO ASSIST GETTING ME OUT OF THE CAR THE HANDLES WOULD SNAP OFF AND THEY COULD NOT REMOVE ME FROM THE CAR. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THE HANDLES ON CARS SHOULD NOT SNAP OFF AND PLASTIC HANDLES ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN ALL CLIMATES. 2. I HAVE HAD MY FRONT HEADLIGHTS CLEANED THREE TIMES AND THEY ALWAYS FOG UP WITHIN SEVERAL WEEKS OF CLEANING. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SAID IT IS FAULTY DESIGN AND TO REPLACE THE HEADLAMPS IS CLOSE TO A THOUSAND DOLLARS WITH 1 YEAR GUARANTEE WHICH IS VERY COST PROHIBITIVE. I HAVE SEEN CARS LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD WITH OPAQUE HEAD LAMPS THIS IS UNACCETABLE AND DANGEROUS THAT LIGHTS CAN NOT PROJECT LIGHT APPROPRIATELY AND THIS IS ON MOST MODELS OF CARS. IF YOU ARE IN RURAL AREAS AND THE LIGHTS DO NOT PROJECT LIGHT THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT METAL HANDLES AND DURABLE HEADLIGHT COVERS THAT DON'T FOG ARE NOT REQUIRED OF THESE COMPANIES. UNTIL THE LAST 15-20 YEARS THIS WAS NEVER A PROBLEM BUT CAR MANUFACTURERS ARE OPTING FOR CHEAP MATERIALS THAT CAN HAVE LETHAL REPERCUSSIONS FOR CRUCIAL SAFETY ITEMS. CAR HANDLES AND HEAD LAMPS AS FAR AS SAFETY ARE AS CRUCIAL AS PROPER AIRBAG FUNCTION. HANDLES SHOULD NOT SNAP OFF IN YOUR HANDS AND HEADLAMPS IF CLEANED SHOULD REMAIN CLEAN AND NOT FOGGY AND THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS CONCERN.

AND WITH NISSAN NOT RECALLING MY VIN FOR THE SAME OBVIOUS REASONS FOR THE RECALL. OVER TWO MONTHS AGO MY GRANDSON OPENED THE OUTSIDE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OF MY NISSAN ALTIMA AND THE HANDLE CAME OFF IN HIS HAND. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. MY SON CHECKED FOR RECALLS AND SAID THERE WHERE NO RECALLS, EVEN THOUGH HE FOUND THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED TO OTHER OWNERS. HE ALSO FOUND THE PRICES FOR FIXING WITH A DEALER OR OTHER MECHANIC. AFTER A FEW DAYS OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE HANDLE BEING FIXED, IT OCCURRED TO ME THAT THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD. IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT AND PASSED OUT NO ONE COULD OPEN THE DOOR IN A TIMELY MANNER TO REMOVE ME OR OTHERS (IF IT WAS A PASSENGER DOOR) FROM THE VEHICLE. I CALLED NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AND FILED A CASE A DAY OR SO LATER. I RECEIVED A CALL WITHIN A DAY OR TWO AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND MY CONCERNS BUT I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE IS TOO MANY MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY AND TOO MANY MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. I TOLD THE FIRST AGENT WHO INITIALLY TOOK MY CASE, WHEN ASKED WHAT NISSAN COULD DO FOR ME, I SAID GIVE ME A DISCOUNT ON THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF OUTSIDE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER I RECEIVED AN EMAIL SURVEY FROM NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AND AGAIN EXPRESSED MY CONCERN REGARDING SAFETY AND ALSO THE CONCERNS I RECENTLY HAD REGARDING THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP I HAD BEEN DEALING WITH SINCE I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM THIS PARTICULAR DEALER. I HAVE NOT HEARD ANY MORE FROM NISSAN HEADQUARTERS IN MORE THAN A MONTH. MY SON DID GLUE THE HANDLE BACK FOR ME, BUT JUST RECENTLY IT CAME OFF AGAIN. I MAY NEED TO HAVE IT PROFESSIONALLY REPAIRED. IN ORDER TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE, I MUST UNLOCK IT WITH THE REMOTE (I THINK THAT IS WHAT IT IS CALLED) AND LET THE WINDOW DOWN AND REACH IN TO OPEN THE DOOR. AFTER HOLDING THE DOOR HANDLE IN MY HAND, I BELIEVE IT IS JUST MADE OF PLASTIC.

APPARENTLY, UPON ME GOOGLING, THIS IS A KNOWN DESIGN ISSUE (RATHER THAN NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR) FOR NISSANS BETWEEN 2002-2006. TO FIX THE CAR WILL COST ME MORE THAN IT IS WORTH. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT HOLES IN THE FLOORBOARDS ARE ALSO A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN.

I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS MAY BE A FLAW IN THE DRAINAGE SYSTEM OF MY CAR AND IT'S PRETTY COSTLY TO GET THIS REPAIRED & TO BE PERFECTLY HONEST, I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET IT REPAIRED. TAKATA RECALL. VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. WHEN DEALER IS NOTIFIED, DEALER REFUSES THAT THERE WAS A PAST RECALL ON THIS PART FOR THE 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH A 2.5 ENGINE. DEALER WILL NOT HELP. THE DEALERSHIP PASSED MY CAR IN INSPECTION AND TOLD US THAT THERE WAS NO CAUSE FOR CONCERN ABOUT THE FLOORBOARD. TODAY, I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE FOR INSPECTION [PAST DUE] TO MY LOCAL AUTO MECHANIC, AND THEY FAILED IT DUE TO RUSTED/ROTTED OUT FLOOR BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THEY APPROXIMATED THE HOLE IS 4 INCHES BY 6 INCHES. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND CREATED A CASE FILE. I AM SUPPOSED TO BE CONTACTED BY A LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE BY COB TOMORROW. THE MANAGER OF KELLY NISSAN OF LYNNFIELD CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT HE CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME UNTIL A DETERMINATION IS MADE BY THE LOCAL REP, AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL GO THROUGH, AS IT APPEARS THAT I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR TO THEIR DEALERSHIP ENOUGH TO WARRANT THEM TO DO THE REPAIR. SO THAT WAS THE GOOD NEWS; THAT I HAVE ENOUGH HISTORY WITH THEIR DEALERSHIP THAT I COULD POTENTIALLY GET IT REPAIRED.

MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HER 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA AND OVER CORRECTED IN A CURVE. SHE HIT A TREE AND THE AIR BAG IN THE STEERING WHEEL DEPLOYED. SHE WAS WEARING HER SEAT BELT AND WAS HELD BACK BY THE SEAT BELT HER HEAD IMPACTING THE CENTER OR THE STEERING WHEEL. THE COVER OVER THE AIR BAG BLEW OUT HINGING ITSELF AT THE TOP AND MAKING TWO VERY POINTED AND SHARP EDGES ON EACH BOTTOM CORNER. THE RIGHT BOTTOM POINT PIERCED THE SKIN BETWEEN HER NOSE AND THE CORNER OF HER LEFT EYE MISSING IT BY LESS THAN A SIXTEENTH OF AN INCH AND BREAKING HER NOSE. THE DANGEROUS PART IS THE TWO SHARP POINTS ON THE FLAP WHERE THE AIR BIG DEPLOYED SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A DESIGN FLAW.

THE ENTIRE FLOOR IN FRONT OF THE FRONT SEATS IS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH TO THE POINT THAT YOU CAN SEE THE ROAD UNDERNEATH THE CAR. EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE FLOOR HAD HOLES IN IT (FOUND RIGHT AFTER I HAD ALREADY BOUGHT THE VEHICLE). A MECHANIC, DURING AN UNRELATED REPAIR, REPORTED HE COULD SEE CARPET FROM THE UNDERNEATH MY CAR AND UPON FURTHER INSPECTION DISCOVERED TWO HOLES IN THE FLOORBOARDS ON THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SIDES (FRONT SEAT). I TOOK THIS IN FOR AN ESTIMATE AND IT WILL COST $700-1000 TO REPAIR. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN...THESE FLOORBOARDS SHOULD NOT RUST COMPLETELY THROUGH LIKE THIS. I HAVE CHILDREN AND AM WORRIED THAT ROAD DEBRIS OR SOMETHING RIPPING THROUGH THE CARPET FROM THE INSIDE COULD CAUSE INJURY OR WORSE AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

HE GOT A NEARBY BODY SHOP TO GIVE A REPAIR QUOTE, WHICH IS ~$700. I TOOK A LOOK UNDER THE CAR MYSELF & WAS SHOCKED TO FIND FLOOR RUST ~18" X 9" ON PASSENGER & DRIVER FLOOR BOARDS. THE RUST HOLES ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL. THERE ARE NO OTHER RUST SPOTS ON THE CAR, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A FACTORY DEFECT. A LOOK ON LINE SHOWED WHAT I SUSPECTED; AN EPIDEMIC OF RUST IN THE SAME LOCATION ON EVERY ALTIMA! MY CAR SPENT ITS FIRST 8 YEARS IN SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN. THE LAST 2 HAVE BEEN IN FLORIDA. THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE-KEPT ITS ENTIRE LIFE. THE ISOLATION OF THE RUST IS VERY OBVIOUS. THIS CAR HAS BEEN PROBABLY THE MOST RELIABLE CAR I'VE EVER OWNED, WHICH MAKES THIS RUST ISSUE SO DISAPPOINTING. FROM THE RESEARCH I'VE GATHERED, NISSAN HAS NO INTENTION OF STANDING BEHIND THIS ISSUE. SO BESIDES THE FACT THAT MY FLOOR BOARD ON MY DRIVERS SIDE HAS A HUGE HOLE IN IT, THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAS CAUSE ME ENOUGH PROBLEMS TO WHERE I BELIEVE NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IDLES ROUGH, WHEN ACCELERATING IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS ABOUT TO SHUT OFF, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU CHANGE THE SENSOR. I'VE HAD MINE CHANGED FOUR TIMES. I AM ACTUALLY SICK OF THIS VEHICLE NOW AND WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN. RECENTLY WHILE GETTING NEW TIRES INSTALLED AT A TIRE SHOP, I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN THAT THERE WAS FLOOR PAN RUST ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR. THIS RUST COULDN'T OF HAPPENED OVERNIGHT SINCE THE RUST IS ABOUT TO BREAK THROUGH THE CARPET AS IF IT WERE A 15-20 YR. OLD CAR. THE RUST IS LOCATED IN THE SAME SPOT ON EACH SIDE BY THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FLOOR MATS. ON A SHOP LIFT YOU CAN SEE THAT THE RUST INITIALLY FORMED ON EACH SIDE WHERE THE DRAIN HOLES WERE INSTALLED. AT NISSAN'S REQUEST, I TOOK MY CAR (BOUGHT NEW) TO THE NEAREST NISSAN FOR INSPECTION. MY COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CORPORATE WAS THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON FLOOR PAN RUST AS IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN I.E THE SEAT CAN MALFUNCTION AND ALSO CARBON DIOXIDE COULD GET INSIDE THE CAR. I ALSO MENTIONED THAT I WAS AWARE ANY KIND OF RUST WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT THE REASON FOR THE RUST HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LIVING IN HIGH SALT STATE. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, IT BECAME APPARENT THAT THIS HAS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW BY NISSAN AND THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON MAINLY 2ND GEN. ALTIMAS HAVING THIS ADV. FLOOR PAN RUST IN THE EXACT SAME AREAS!! IF THE RUST WAS SPORADIC, THEN SALT WOULD MOST LIKELY BE A CAUSE, AND IF WET SNOWY SHOES WAS THE PROBLEM THEN THERE WOULD BE RUST UNDER THE REAR FLOOR PANS. AS A RESULT, AS NOTED ON THE NISSAN FORUM WEBSITE, A MORE VALID CAUSE IS DESIGN FLAW, DRAIN HOLES WERE IMPROPERLY INSTALLED ALLOWING WATER TO CONGREGATE AND RUST TO FORM. AFTER NISSAN INVESTIGATED MY FILE,THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO HELP. NOT EVEN PARTIAL REIMBURSEMENT. I FIND THIS UNBELIEVABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE.THIS 2ND GENERATION ALTIMA FLOOR PAN RUST IS SO COMMON THAT EVEN MY NEIGHBOR'S 05 ALTIMA HAS THE SAME RUST SPOTS AS WELL. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP PERFORMED A RECALL ON OUR VEHICLE ON 06/10/2008 FOR THE R0712 ECM PROGRAM RECALL AND THE P5216 RECALL. I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA SE-R 6 SPEED MANUAL WHEN THE CLUTCH JUST SANK TO THE FLOOR I WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND HEAD COULD NOT GO AT THE LIGHT. AFTER A COUPLE OF TIMES THE CLUTCH WENT BACK TO NORMAL PRESSURE. ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, BUT THE CLUTCH NEVER WENT BACK TO PRESSURE I HAVE BEEN READING FORUMS ONLINE, AND THIS HAPPENS TO BE A PROBLEM FOR MOST 02-06 NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS WITH MANUALS. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM YOU GUYS AFTER THE FACT. MY CAR DEALERSHIP(SERVICE GUY). I WENT TO THE REPAIR SHOP FOR SOMETHING ELSE AND THAT'S HOW I FOUND OUT OF THE RECALL. SOMETHING COULD'VE HAPPEN TO ME OR SOMEONE ELSE WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR WITHOUT WARNING. THEY DID REPROGRAM THE CAR MODULE. BUT I DON'T THINK THAT'S THE ISSUE THE CAR IS STILL DRIVING AS IT DID BEFORE AND I HOPE I DID NOT PURCHASE ONE OF YOUR MANY CARS I'VE HEARD OF AS A LEMON. I REALLY NEED TO KNOW MY NEXT STEPS IN LOOKING INTO GETTING A UPGRADE ON THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I REALLY LOVE THESE ALTIMAS. I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP AND GO THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS AGAIN. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I CAN TAKE THIS CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO SWITCH IT OUT I ONLY HAVE 34,399 MILES ON THIS CAR. I PURCHASED A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA IN 2006, AND IN 2007 I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE CAR JUST STOPPING WHEN I WAS DRIVING, THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, THANK GOD I HAVE NOT HAD ANY SERIOUS INJURIES BECAUSE OF THIS. MY MECHANIC STATED THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH SOMETHING DEALING WITH MY ENGINE COMPUTER RESULTING IN CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION WITH MY CRANKSHAFT, AND ENGINE SPEED SENSOR, THE PROBLEM WITH THE CRANKSHAFT RESULTED FROM ME HAVING TO RESTART MY CAR AFTER JUST STOPPING ON ME. I DON'T FEEL LIKE I SHOULD HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS IF THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE VERY PART OF THIS VECHICLE THAT HAS RESULTED AND LEAD UP TO THE PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING AT THIS TIME. I HAVE MENTIONED THIS TO NISSAN AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING, AND SEEMS TO ME THAT THE COMPANY IS JUST TRYING TO GET OUT OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MISTAKE THAT WAS MADE WHEN BUILDING THIS VEHICLE. THE RECALL LETTER CLEARLY STATES THAT IF THE DEALER FAILS, OR IS UNABLE TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS FREE OF CHARGE, I MAY CONTACT THE NATIONAL CONSUMERAFFAIRS DEPARTMENT.
