There is Transmission problems with the 2009 Nissan. The car shakes/ Vibrates when idle, when sitting to long at a light the idle engine delays the gas pedal from going forward, having to accelerate the gas pedal till it jumps to proceed to move forward, The liquid is up to date however the car can’t move backwards in reverse but can move forward.
I purchased this car and the dashboard is melting and sticky. It’s affecting visibility to the point where I found myself trying to lift up to look overtop of the blinding glare on my windshield due to my melting dashboard and got into an minor accident Like was reflecting off the dashboard onto the windshield obstructing my view and resulted in me rear bumping into the rear of another car that was towing a very small trailer that I couldn’t see through the reflection on the windshield. Since then im noticing almost every dashboard on a Nissan Altima look the same if not worse and absolutely has to and needs to be acknowledged by Nissan for Nissan Altimas everywhere, not just in Florida. A recall NEEDS to be issued to resolve this very serious safety hazard. I’m lucky no one was injured. PLEASE address this issue so people can get the dashboard repaired without costing them even more money than they already paid for your defective product.

Purchased the vehicle from Quality Auto sales llc.had tge vehicle less than 48 hours in traffic stopped. Had it towed to find they just put it together to rode off the lot but transmission is gone. Brought as is could have lost my life. Paid 6990.25.i feel misled and cheated tried to see if they would exchange the vehicle even pay half the cost of repairs. The answer no. I really believe this place us misleading the community and doing so by hiding behind as is. The know these vehicles need extensive work but misguided the public. This could have cost me my life and I pray someone inspects this dealership hold them liable for these vehicles they are selling which could cause a very fatal accident because their more money hungry than ones personal safety. Please please help. Thus happen on my birthday same day I git news my mom has cancer and she lives 4hours away no vehicle to get her to moffitt. So unfair. They are very unprofessional as well talking over you etc. Major complaints with the attorney general's office within the last 2 months. This one is big please stop them
I was on the freeway on my way to LA then out of nowhere my car started to slow down then the check engine light came on and i was trying to move over to the emergency lane and and almost got hit by the car behind me and the one behind me in the lane i was switching in to once i got the side i turned the car off and on and it fixed it for a while but then then it did it again the same night later on and now it does it randomly
The vehicle was working just fine when I went to the grocery store and came out. I unlocked the car using the key fob, sat inside and the car stopped detected my key. The steering was locked, I tried to place it near the start push button, tried putting it in the slot but nothing happened. And I tried unlock button couple of times on the key fob and the mirrors went down. And there was no way to pull them up and I was stranded in the parking lot for no reason. I got it towed to the dealership and they told me Steering Lock Module went bad which is a common issue in 2009 Nissan Altima. Its a safety issue as I can get stranded anywhere anytime! And they are fixing it for 1300$ bucks! Please recall all 2009 Nissan Altima and change this part in them!
I am having an issue where my car door (driver side) will either not unlock or not stay shut. I have been stuck in my car two days in a row after arriving at work but what is even more disturbing is that my car door went flying open last night on the way home from work when it was completely shut. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS !!! Where do I file a "complaint" for lack of a better term ? Or concern to have this investigated ? This is a 2009 Nissan Altima.
have 117,000 miles and my transmission went out, the car will start but will not go in drive and will not go in reverse.
CAR WOULD NOT START. WAS TOLD THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK HAD AN INTERNAL FAILURE. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE IN 2014 AND IT WAS REPAIRED AFTER I WAS STRANDED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE WARRANTY FOR THE 2014 REPAIR WAS A YEAR AND THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT NOR THE NISSAN HEADQUARTERS WOULD ASSIST IN THE $800 REPAIR. RECENTLY I NOTICED THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN FOR THE ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK (ESCL) BEING DEACTIVATED AND BEING REPLACED WITH A ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN BOX. THIS OFFER EXPIRED MAY 30, 2020. HOWEVER, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. WHEN I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP AND NISSAN HEADQUARTERS I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE COULD NOT BE MODIFIED. THIS MAKES NO SENSE. THERE ARE A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON YOUR WEBSITE REGARDING THE SAME PROBLEM, AND YET NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE.

I WAS LEFT STRANDED WHEN CAR WOULD NOT START. THANKFULLY I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT ON THE ROAD. I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER. TURNS OUT IT WAS A DEFECTIVE STEERING WHEEL LOCK. NISSAN HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD A SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE THIS PART FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IT WAS DEFECTIVE AT MANUFACTURE. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS CAMPAIGN AND AM NOW OUT $862.46 AS NISSAN DECIDED IT WILL NO LONGER HONOR THEIR RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS CAMPAIGN.

A NIGHTMARE WHILE AWAKE. WHILE BACKING OUT OF A BANK PARKING LOT I HIT A POLE LIGHTLY. I STOPPED THE CAR BEFORE SHIFTING INTO DRIVE. WHEN I ACCELERATED THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AT A FAST SPEED. I TRIED BRAKING BUT THE CAR KEPT GOING FORWARD SLAMMING INTO THE BACK OF A PARKED SUV WITH THE DRIVER INSIDE PUSHING IT FROM THE PARKING SPACE UP ONTO THE SIDE WALK. AND SIDE SWIPING A PARKED TRUCK PUSHING IT INTO THE SUV PASSENGER SIDE.. THE ACCELERATION WAS SO GREAT I AM SO MY CAR IS TOTALED. I AM PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONAL SICKEN BY THIS AND THE DAMAGES CAUSED FROM SOMETHING NISSAN COULD HAVE PREVENT BY FIXING THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS STILL TRYING GO AFTER BEING STOPPED BY THE VEHICLE I HIT AND MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE LADY FROM THE BANK TOLD ME TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THAT STOPPED THE CAR. I COULD NOT GET THE CAR OUT OF DRIVE MODE AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND HAD TO SHUT IT DOWN IN DRIVE MODE. THIS WAS A SCENE OUT OF A HORROR SHOW. IT HAPPENED IN SPRINGFIELD MA AWAY FROM MY HOME. MODEL 09 ALTIMA HAS A KNOWN DEFECT WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN LOCKS BECAUSE IT IS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY ITS OWN KEY. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT BUT THIS COULD HAVE HAPPEND ANYWHERE IF THIS PART HAD FAILED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR EXAMPLE. THE VEHICLE OPERATES USING PUSH START AND THERE IS NO PHYSICAL KEY TO START THE ENGINE OUTSIDE OF INSERTING THE FOB, WHICH ALSO DIDNT WORK. ON 10/21/2020 THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THE KEY/FOB AND THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO TURN ON THE CAR AND IT HAS TO BE TOWED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS PART FAILED RANDOMLY AND RENDERED THE CAR INOPERABLE, THE FIRST TIME WAS IN 2014. NISSAN COVERED REPLACING THIS PART THE FIRST TIME AFTER A SERVICE CAMPAIGN BUT IS NOW REFUSING TO DO SO FOR THIS NON WEAR AND TEAR PROBLEM. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY CONCERNING AND FRUSTRATING SAFETY PROBLEM AS THIS PART CAN FAIL AT ANY TIME AND PREVENT THE CAR FROM STARTING OR MOVING, OUTSIDE OF TOWING AND THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS ISSUE HAVE HAPPENED. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY REFUSE TO FINANCIALLY HELP, WARRANTY OR REIMBURSE US FOR A SAFETY MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT PREVENTS THE CAR FROM RECOGNIZING ITS OWN KEY/FOB WITH NO ALTERNATIVE WAY TO START THE CAR. THE COST OF REPAIR AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP WAS $800+ TO BE ABLE TO GET INTO OUR OWN CAR AFTER NISSAN REFUSED TO HELP US FOR THEIR OWN MANUFACTURER FAILURE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS IN GENERAL AS I HAVE HAD TIME WHERE THE GLARE DON'T NOT ALLOW THE ABILITY TO SEE IN FRONT OF ME. THIS CAN NOT BE A NORMAL PROBLEM, I HAVE SEARCHED AND FOUND THAT A NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD VERY SIMILAR ISSUES AND IN FACT I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT 2014-2018 NISSANS WHERE HAVING ACCELERATION ISSUES. ( I HAVE ATTACHED THE LETTER) I HAVE 2 CARS NOW THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND I CAN NOT AFFORD TO FIX THEM, ESPECIALLY IF I AM NOT 100% SURE WHAT THE CORRECTION IS. THE WAY THAT THEY PUT THE WINDSHIELD THEY SET THE WINDOW OFF OF THE DASH BEING THE BOTTOM OR BASE. MY WINDSHIELD IS LEAKING WHEN IT RAINS, CAUSE MY DASH IS MELTING AND NOT SUPPORTING THE WINDSHIELD AT THE BASE.

I WAS ABOUT TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER (A 10 YR OLD CHILD) SUFFERING FROM AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO THE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, WHEN THE VEHICLE DID NOT TURN ON. MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2009 (SEDAN) HAD BEEN USED WITHOUT ISSUES JUST THE DAY BEFORE AND I HAD PARKED IT AT HOME. IT WAS PARKED AND WHEN I TRIED TURNING IT ON, IT DID NOT READ THE KEY, THE IGNITION DID NOT EVEN NOTICE THERE WAS A KEY, THE STEERING WAS LOCKED. WE WERE LEFT STRANDED UNABLE TO TURN ON THE VEHICLE AND GO TO THE HOSPITAL AND GET TREATED ASAP. I HAD TO GET A CAB WITH THE SICK CHILD AND COME BACK FROM THE HOSPITAL THE SAME WAY. THE DAYS THAT FOLLOWED, I ALSO HAD TO SEE HER DOCTOR AND THE CAR STILL DID NOT TURN ON. FINALLY, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT HAS A STEERING LOCK PROBLEM AND THEY SEE THIS OFTEN IN THAT MODEL(!). I LOOKED ONLINE AND WAS AMAZED TO FIND SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS! I SAW NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE ON THIS MODEL AND HAD A CAMPAIGN BUT MY VIN WAS NOT AMONG THE SUPPOSED VEHICLES UNDER THE COVERAGE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, BEING A WOMAN (AND EVEN WORSE, A WOMAN WITH A MINOR) I WAS UNABLE TO USE A VEHICLE THAT IS OTHERWISE MECHANICALLY COMPLETELY SOUND (IT HAD JUST BEEN SERVICED NOT EVEN 2 WEEKS BEFORE!), THIS CAR HAS VERY FEW MILES, IT WAS THE LAST THING I WAS EXPECTING IN A STRESSFUL SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE GONE MAJORLY WRONG. LUCKILY MY DAUGHTER'S ALLERGIC REACTION WAS TENDED TO AT THE HOSPITAL IN TIME BECAUSE I TOOK A CAR SERVICE AND I DON'T LIVE IN A RURAL AREA, BUT I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO OTHER PEOPLE OR EVEN TO MYSELF IF I WERE TO BE IN A REMOTE LOCATION OR IN A PERILOUS SITUATION AND NOT ABLE TO TURN ON MY CAR AND USE IT. I AM NOW VERY WARY AND WORRIED THAT (ONCE CORRECTED) THIS ISSUE WILL AGAIN TAKE PLACE. I BYPASSED THE PRESSURE SWITCH TEMPORARILY DURING DIAGNOSTICS TO SEE IF THE PRESSURE SWITCH WAS THE ISSUE. ON THURSDAY FEBRUARY 2, 2017 APPROXIMATELY 5:45 PM, I WAS DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF ON KIRKWOOD HIGHWAY IN NEWARK, DE WHICH IS 3 LANES. THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND HESITATE TO TAKE OFF. WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED ACCELERATING AND WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD MY 3 YEAR OLD SON IN THE BACK SEAT AT THE TIME. AN PASSERBY FINALLY PULLED UP BEHIND ME AND HELPED ME PUSH MY CAR OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY TO THE LEFT TURN LANE SO THAT I WASN'T BLOCKING THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. AFTER ABOUT 2 HOURS, A TOW TRUCK FINALLY CAME AND TOWED THE CAR TO BENCHMARK TRANSMISSION IN NEWARK, DE. THE MECHANIC NAMED DANTE ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD DIED. HE ALSO NOTIFIED ME THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN RECALL ISSUED BY NISSAN SEVERAL YEARS BACK WHICH MY TRANSMISSION WAS NOW OUT OF RECALL DUE TO THE MILEAGE. MY CAR WAS IN THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN NOVEMBER 2012 TO FIX THE ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK THAT ALSO TURNED INTO A RECALL. AT THAT TIME NISSAN HAD MY UPDATED ADDRESS AS WELL AS IT HAS BEEN CONTINUOUSLY UPDATED WITH THE DELAWARE DMV AND I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY RECALL. THERE WAS ALSO NO INDICATION THAT ANY ISSUE WAS OCCURRING WITH THE TRANSMISSION (NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT) PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. I WANT NISSAN TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS INCIDENT. THE COST OF REPAIR WILL BE IN UPWARDS OF $4,000.00

THE NEXT DAY AFTER CHANGING THE BATTERIES IN THE FOB, MY SON BROUGHT ME TO THE CAR. STILL NO STARTING IT. WE HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO A DEALER WHO PROCEEDED TO CHARGE ME $1301 DOLLARS TO FIX. IT WAS THE "DEFECTIVE STEERING LOCK MODULE" (EXACT WORDS ON THE BILL) AND I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. THE DEALER DIDN'T KNOW WHY MY BATTERY WAS AFFECTED BUT IT WOULD NO LONGER HOLD A CHARGE. WHEN I LOOKED ON EBAY FOR THE STEERING PART, IT WAS $350. NISSAN CHARGED ME DOUBLE. I ASKED THE DEALER WHY THE DOUBLE CHARGE, THEY SAID "WHO KNOWS, CALL NISSAN." WHEN I ASKED WHY THIS "DEFECTIVE PART" WAS NOT RECALLED, THE REPLY WAS "NISSAN OFFERED AN EXTENSION ON THE WARRANTY. YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED." THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THERE WAS NO WARNING OF IT'S GOING OUT AND NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT IT.

IF THIS OCCURRED JUST THREE DAYS EARLIER, SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN SUB-ZERO WEATHER. SHE RETURNED TO HER CAR AFTER RUNNING SOME ERRANDS IN A SMALL TOWN WE LIVE NEAR AND WHEN SHE GOT IN HER CAR AN AMBER LIGHT WITH A KEY SYMBOL WAS PRESENT ON LEFT SIDE OF INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAD A RED FLASHING (APPROX. THIS VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 60K MILES ON IT AND IS IN IMMACULATE SHAPE. I'VE READ COUNTLESS ARTICLES AND POSTINGS TO FORUMS OF OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AND NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE OF IT. I REALIZE THIS IS NOT A NEW VEHICLE, HOWEVER IN MY MIND, THIS IS AN ITEM THAT SHOULD NOT FAIL AS THERE IS NO MANUAL/ALTERNATIVE STARTING MECHANISM. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A FAULTY STEERING WHEEL LOCK. THEY CHARGED ME $699 FOR NEW PARTS AND $250 FOR LABOR, JUST TO REPLACE A DEFECTIVE PART, WHICH I LATER DISCOVERED WAS A WIDELY KNOWN DEFECT. FORTUNATELY I WAS PARKED IN A RELATIVELY SAFE AREA WHILE IT WAS STILL DAYLIGHT. HAD THIS OCCURRED AT NIGHT IN AN UNSAFE AREA, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN QUITE A DANGEROUS AND FRIGHTENING SITUATION NOT BEING ABLE TO START OR DRIVE THE CAR.

THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR PEOPLE NEEDING TO EXIT THE CAR OR ENTER THE CAR QUICKLY. FURTHERMORE, ALL OF THE LOCKS HAVE LOCKED WHEN THE KEY FOB WAS LEFT IN THE CAR (LOCKING ME OUT). THE CAR IS NOT SUPPOSED TO LOCK WHEN THE FOB IS IN THE CAR. IN ADDITION, PRESSING THE LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTON WILL ONLY UNLOCK 2 DOORS AT THIS TIME. UPON CALLING NISSAN CORPORATE, I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE, HOWEVER MY CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED. I PURCHASED THIS CAR AS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WITH THE EXPECTATION THAT ANY SAFETY RELATED KNOWN ISSUES WOULD BE ADDRESSED. I WAS NEVER MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE OR THE POSSIBILITY THAT I COULD BE PUT IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. NISSAN TOLD ME THAT WHILE THEY WERE AWARE THE PART WAS MIS-MANUFACTURED, THE PART WAS NOT A 'RECALL' (AS DETERMINED BY NHTSA) CRITERIA) AND AS SUCH WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PROACTIVELY FIXED IF NOT BROKEN. THEY CANT DO ANYTHING FOR ME UNTIL I HAVE IT TOWED(AT MY EXPENSE) TO A CERTIFIED NISSAN DEALER(45 MILES AWAY) AND HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. AFTER WATCHING NUMEROUS VIDEOS ON THIS ISSUE. I GOT A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHICH AGAIN NEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND GAVE ME A ESTIMATE FOR $650. SO I HAD IT TOWED TO THIS DEALERSHIP. I FOUND OUT NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT MINE EXPIRED A FEW MONTHS AGO. MY COMPLAINT IS NISSAN IS NOT OWNING UP TO THEIR REPUTATION KNOWING THAT PEOPLE ARE GETTING STRANDED BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY ELECTRICAL STEERING WHEEL LOCK AND NOT INFORMING THEIR CUSTOMERS OF THE DEFECT UNTIL ITS TOO LATE. YES THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT IF I HAD KNOWN THAT I WAS GOING TO ONE DAY GET IN MY CAR AND IT NOT START I WOULD HAVE PAID FOR IT MYSELF AND HAD IT FIXED OR TRADED THE CAR IN. BEING STRANDED ALONE OUT OF TOWN IS UNSAFE. I WAS OUT THE EXPENSE OF GETTING A CAR TO GET HOME WHICH WAS A HOUR AND HALF AWAY AND BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY, TWO TOWING EXPENSES AND $650 FOR REPAIR. I EXPECTED MORE FROM NISSAN. THIS WILL BE THE LAST NISSAN I PURCHASE.

THE CAR SEEMS LIKE IT SLIDES AND SEEMS SHAKY WHEN EXCEEDING A CERTAIN SPEED. I FEEL THE SHAKE AND SLIDING WHEN I DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY AND AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. NOT SURE HOW IT HAPPENED JUST DROVE DOWN THE FREEWAY ONE DAY AND FELT A LOT OF SHAKING. BROUGHT IT TO A NISSAN SERVICE CENTER AND A FIRESTONE AS WELL BUT THEY COULDN'T PIN POINT THE PROBLEM. IT WAS ALOT OF " IT COULD BE'S " AND " I THINK". SO PLEASE HELP ME OUT NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY DAILY DRIVER.

I CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER CARE AND ESCALATED TO REGIONAL OFFICE. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE WHO KNOWS WHERE AND WHEN YOU CAN BE STRANDED.
