The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle shuddered uncontrollably and stalled. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the road. The contact turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle 20 minutes later, the failure recurred while driving, and the vehicle failed to accelerate upon depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact exited the highway; however, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. The vehicle was towed to Young's Cheltenham Auto Service, where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance in covering the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be covered because Nissan TSB Number: NTB17-039K had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

It smells like gas when I start the car. It's also wasting alot of gas. I have to put gas every couple of days. I spend more money putting gas. The steering and suspension and the tires keep giving me problems to where the brakes locked up on their own and now it drives really bad especially on the freeway. The steering wheel moves alot when I'm on the freeway sometimes feel like I'm loosing control of the car. The gas pedal gets stuck and the gear shift gets stuck in park. I have to use a nail filer the metal ones and push and hold the shift lock for it to move into gear. The car keeps saying Key not Detected even tho it's in the car with me. I just got the car from a small dealership in pomona in April of 2023

Metal shavings detected in transmission oil (under code P17F1) - car only has 90,000 miles. Dealership quoted $5,760 to fix. This is a common problem with the make/model and should have been recalled. Current extended warranty only covers 5 years, previous models' (Nissan altima 2007-2010) extended warranty for this same issue covered 10 years.

transmission failed twice. first time i would have to floor the gas for the car to accelerate. i took to dealer, warranty was still active and transmission was replaced. again, about 13 or 14 mo later the transmission failed again. i had it replaced again. i have receipts for all work. the car has been driving fair the last 12 months.

The vehicle jerks and stutters while accelerating. In some cases it can lose power completely, which is extremely dangerous when driving at any speed, but particularly on the highway. I’ve also researched this issue online and it is a well known transmission defect with Nissan CVT transmissions and many people have experienced the same issue. I’d be shocked if nobody has been injured or killed.

I bought a used 2014 Nissan Altima on/around April 13th 2022. Two weeks later my transmission gave out with barley any warning. I was driving to pick up my daughter after work when I noticed some delayed shifting. Assuming it was the car needing transmission fluid, I drove home and had planned to take the car to get it serviced at the dealership where I bought it the next day. When I left my house with my daughter the next day I got maybe 10 miles from my house when the transmission completely failed and the engine light came on. I was stalled in the middle of the road, with no working gears. The dealership I bought the vehicle from towed the car and put me in a loaner for two weeks. No clue on the price of repairs or if I’ll even be able to afford it.

The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for an oil change, the independent mechanic informed her that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the independent mechanic hard reset the code; however, while she was driving the vehicle, the ABS warning light, the brake warning light, TPMS warning light, traction warning light, check engine warning light, and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle’s computer was not communicating as designed. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the CVT transmission and ECM needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would only cover 50% of the transmission repair under an unknown recall as the vehicle had been out of warranty for 5 months. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

I bought my used branded 2014 Nissan Altima 1-2 years ago and did not have any issues with it until recently. Earlier this summer I received 2 notifications for my vehicle 1.) Recall notice to Reprogram Transmission Control Module and the 2nd doc. I received was a doc. which stated Nissan had extended their CVT Transmission warranty for their 2013-2016 Nissan Altimas. Some weeks ago later I started to have issues with my vehicle as it was not driving properly. I then started contacting both my local Nissan and Corporate. Nissan confirmed my vehicle VIN was one of the vehicles with transmissions issues and that I needed a transmission replacement for a cost of $4,324.11. I then opened a case and Corporate as there have multiple complaints/class actions for the same reason and they came back and stated they could not assist because I was out of the warranty year/milage. Nissan delivered a faulty transmission which they were very aware of at some point after delivery and although my transmission held off before it completely needed to be replaced I am looking for Nissan to assist financially for a new transmission which they quoted me $4,324.11 as they manufactured and delivered a faulty transmission which is a common issue with these vehicles. There have been class-action suits regarding the Continuously Variable Transmissions (“CVTs”) in model year 2013–2016 Nissan Altima vehicles.

My 2014 Nissan Altima’s transmission has to be replaced. The Nissan dealership gave me a quote of $4,093.00 to replace it. The car starts to run fine, then when at a stop and go, the car doesn’t go when I step on the gas or is delayed in going and the RPM’s are high and it feels forced. I was on the freeway and the car lost speed which was very scary because I could’ve have caused an accident. My safety and that of others was put at risk. I’ve had to stop using the vehicle until I can repair this costly issue. There were not any lights or warning messages in the car when this happened. Now that I’ve done research I know that there are many complaints and lawsuits related to the transmission issues Nissan has had for many years and they’ve done nothing about it. They should take responsibility and issue a recall on these vehicles to correct the issue.

I WAS TRAVELING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY ON JANUARY 25, 2021, WHEN I HAD NO ACCELERATION. DESPITE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, I HAD NO POWER. THE RPM NEEDLE WAS ALMOST TO THE RED ZONE. I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF OF THIS HIGHWAY, ONTO ANOTHER HIGHWAY. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES, AND RESTARTED IT. I STILL HAD NO FOWARD GEAR. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER (SANSONE, NEPTUNE, NJ). AFTER AN EXHAUSTIVE BATTLE BETWEEN THE DEALER AND NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, IT WAS DETERMINED MY TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BASED ON THE COMPUTER CODES. THE COST IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY - THE EXTENSION COVERED UP TO 84K MILES, MY ALTIMA HAS 101K. I WAS TREATED POORLY BY THE DEALERSHIP, AND NISSAN CORPORATE. I NEVER GOT NOTIFICATION ABOUT ANY RECALLS, APPARENTLY NOTICES WERE SENT TO A FORMER EMPLOYMENT ADDRESS - I RETIRED FROM THAT PLACE 3 YEARS PRIOR TO PURCHASING THE ALTIMA IN 2015. MY RECORDS SAY ITS A 2015, YOURS INDICATE IT'S A 2014. THE TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY, ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH. THANKFULLY, AS A POLICE OFFICER, I HAD THE NECESSARY SKILLS TO GET OFF THE ROADWAY, DESPITE ALMOST BEING IN A SERIOUS COLLISION. THIS IS AN EGREGIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND NISSAN'S LACK OF CONCERN IS ABHORRENT. I CANNOT AFFORD THE $4400 PRICE TAG TO REPLACE THIS TRANSMISSION, WHICH WAS POORLY MANUFACTURED. THE DEALERSHIP "FIXED" THE "COMPUTER UPDATE" TO THE TRANSMISSION, AS WELL AS "LUBING" AND NOT REPLACING THE THE FAULTY HOOD LATCH. NOTABLY, THEY ALLEGEDLY DROVE THE CAR THROUGHOUT THE DAY ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 29, BEFORE DECLARING THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FACT THAT THIS TRANSMISSION JUST QUITS, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, IS A DEATH TRAP.

JUNE 2019, VEHICLE STARTED TO JUDDER, SHAKE AND STALLED OUT AT RED LIGHT. PUT THE CAR IN PARK, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, PUT IT INTO DRIVE AND IT STALLED AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. APPROACHING ANOTHER SET OF LIGHTS, VEHICLE SLOWING DOWN AND THE JUDDER AND SHAKING BEGAN, I DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP SO THE CAR DID NOT STALL. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. I THEN LET THE CAR SIT FOR 2 DAYS BEFORE I DROVE IT AGAIN AND WHEN I TEST DROVE IT AFTER THOSE 2 DAYS, THE CAR SEEMED TO BE BETTER, IT DID NOT STALL OUT. IT DID SHAKE A LITTLE AND JUDDER. NO PROBLEMS LIKE THAT OCCURRED UNTIL 3/9/2020. APPROACHING A RED LIGHT, CAR JUDDERS, STARTED SHAKING AND STALLED OUT. I THEN PUT THE CAR INTO PARK, RESTARTED, FROM PARK TO DRIVE, IT STALLED. I REPEATED THIS PROCESS FOR 5 MINUTES. I HAD TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND PHYSICALLY PUSH THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. 3/10/2020 DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. SAME THING HAPPENED IN THE VEHICLE ON MY WAY THERE. JUDDERING, SHAKING AND STALLING. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND MAKE SURE I DID NOT LET THE VEHICLE COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BECAUSE IT WOULD STALL OUT. I WENT ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE THAT WAS THE EASIEST ROUTE. THE ENTIRE TIME THE CAR WAS SHAKING AND I WAS GOING 60MPH, WHICH WAS 5MPH UNDER SPEED LIMIT. PARKED THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP. EXPLAINED TO THE TECHNICIANS WHAT WAS WRONG, ONE OF THE TECHNICIANS TOOK MY VEHICLE FROM WHERE I PARKED AND BROUGHT IT INTO THE GARAGE. HE CONFIRMED MY CAR WAS JUDDERING, SHAKING AND STALLED. I CAME TO A PLACE WHERE I COULD PULL OVER WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND THEN TRIED TO PULL OFF THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ANYWHERE. I FINALLY HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. NISSAN HAS YET TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, SAYING IT HAS AN "UNSPECIFIED CODE". IT'S BEEN 3 DAYS. NISSAN ISSUED A RECALL ON THE CVT REPROGRAMMING, BUT I THINK THEY KNOW THAT THERE IS MORE WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS THEY INSTALLED THESE CARS THAN THAT. REPROGRAMMING THE CVT IS SIMPLE FOR THEM, IT'S JUST A SOFTWARE UPGRADE. NOW I'M FINDING OUT THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS FAILING (LOCKING UP) ON THOUSANDS OF CARS. I FEEL NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE REPAIRS.

HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY HOME STATE ($500, NO RECEIPT, AS IT IS NOT HERE YET). NEED TO TAKE IT TO AN AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALER AND PAY FOR IT OUT OF POCKET(37-3900, NO RECEIPT, CAN NOT AFFORD IT). HAD TO RENT A CAR TO GET HOME ($300, MY SISTER RENTED IT). ACCELERATION ISSUES. SPORADICALLY THE CAR WILL DO NOTHING WHEN WE STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR. IT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND WE ESSENTIALLY HAVE ZERO POWER TO MOVE. AFTER HOLDING THE ACCELERATOR DOWN FOR A NUMBER OF SECONDS THE CAR WILL THEN ABNORMALLY START TO ACCELERATE AND REV UP ON RPMS BUT WILL NOT ACCELERATE AS NORMAL. IT'S AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS THOROUGHLY CONFUSED. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR AND IT COULD NEVER GET OVER 60 MPH REGARDLESS OF HOW FAR I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE BEHAVIOR. THE ISSUE CONTINUES AT RANDOM TIMES AND WE FEEL INCREDIBLY UNSAFE WHEN WE ARE IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE CAR WILL IDLE FORWARD BUT DO NOTHING EVEN WHEN ACCERATOR IS DEPRESSED. THE MANUFACTURER LATER SENT A TECHNICIAN TO PROVIDE FURTHER TESTING. PEDDER NISSAN (200 CARRIAGE CIR, HEMET, CA 92545, (951) 225-4831) WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND INDICATED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER THAT PERFORMED THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN A SETTLEMENT WITH NO REMEDY FOR A PERMANENT REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE RPM DIAL STARTED TO MOVE UP AND DOWN AND THE CAR STARTED TO SLIP GEARS. IT IS APPARENT THAT NISSAN HAD KNOWINGLY SOLD CARS WITH FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS THAT WOULD FAIL FAR BEFORE AN ACCEPTABLE TIME WITH MANY CONSUMERS FACING THE HIGH COST OF REPAIRING THE TRANSMISSION. AS I WAS HOPING THIS WAS A ONE-OFF SITUATION AND THAT NO ONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A FREQUENT COMPLAINT FOR THE NISSAN ALTIMA 2014. NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AND EXTEND THEIR POWER TRAIN WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES OR 10 YEARS AS THEY HAVE FOR THEIR CAR MODELS FROM 2003-2010.

CVT DTC CODE P17F0 BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE CVT FLUID CHANGED AT THE 60,000 MILE SERVICE. THE DEALER SHOWED ME THE DTC CODE INDICATING THAT THERE IS A CVT PROBLEM. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT WHEN THE 2014 ALTIMA WITH AN L33 ENGINE CAME OUT, NISSAN WAS CHANGING THE CVT BECAUSE THE CODE INDICATES AN IMMINENT FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT SINCE THEN BECAUSE IT COST NISSAN TOO MUCH, NISSAN HAS STARTED TO REBUILD THE CVT AND THE DEALERS HAVE A TRAINED MECHANIC TO REBUILD THE CVT AND CORRECT THE CVT JUDDER CODE. THE DEALER STATED THEY WOULD CONTACT NISSAN AND ADVISE WHAT HOW NISSAN WILL CORRECT THE DEFICIENCY. NOW OVER 2 WEEKS, THE DEALER HAS NOT RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS TO ADVISE HOW NISSAN WILL HANDLE. MY WIFE DRIVES THE CAR WITH MY YOUNG DAUGHTER AND I TRAVEL FOR WORK. I AM NOW CONCERNED THE CVT WILL BE PROBLEMS WHEN I AM AWAY AND COULD INADVERTENTLY CAUSE A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT WHEN SHE IS DRIVING IF THE CVT FAILS. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY CAMPAIGN THAT THE NHTSA TAKES ON AND PURSUES. NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THEIR PROBLEMS AND EVENTUALLY WHEN THERE IS A FAILURE ON THE HIGHWAY SOMEONE WILL GET KILLED OR IT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED AND THE CAUSAL FACTORS HAVE NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED ATTRIBUTED TO THE ACCIDENT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND IT SEEMS LIKE NISSAN IS NOT CONCERNED OR PERFORMING A RECALL JUST AS THE WAY NISSAN IS HANDLING THE TAKATA AIR BAG PROBLEMS IN THEIR CARS. FURTHER, IT IS EXTREMELY INTERESTING THAT WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR PAS SERVICE, THE OTHER NISSAN DEALERS DID NOT DO THE QUICK SIMPLE CHECK OF THE CODES TO ENSURE THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. WOULDN'T IT BENEFIT THEM AS IT COULD PRODUCE BUSINESS?? HOW STUPID AND POOR SERVICE WE RECEIVE FROM THE DEALERS.

RPM'S WOULD SPIKE AND THEN DIP DOWN LOW LIKE THE CAR WAS GOING TO STALL BEFORE LEVELING OUT AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER COUPLE TIMES AFTERWARDS AND THEY EXPLAINED IT WAS NORMAL AND SIMILAR MODELS THEY TESTED DID THE SAME THING. FAST FORWARD TO AUGUST 2018, THE CAR NOW HAS 65K MILES AND THE PROBLEM WITH STALLING WHILE DRIVING IT HAS RE-OCCURRED. ANOTHER TOW TO DEALER AND NOW THEY SUGGEST A $4000+ TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT (WITH A REBUILT ONE). NOT A HAPPY NISSAN OWNER! HAVE READ MANY ONLINE COMPLAINTS WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE (2014 NISSAN ALTIMA) WITH SAME PROBLEM. NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND DECLARE A RECALL ON THESE CARS. THEY FIRST ACKNOWLEDGED LIABILITY (EVEN THOUGH IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY) AND OFFERED TO PAY THE PART (NEW TRANSMISSION). BUT ON AUG 15, 2018, THEY CLAIMED THAT SINCE THE LOCAL DEALER "CANNOT DUPLICATE THE CONCERN", MY CAR IS "OKAY TO DRIVE", DENYING ANY RESPONSIBILITY OF ANY FUTURE ACCIDENTS OR DAMAGE. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP NISSAN MAGUIRE DOES NOT AGREE WITH NISSAN USA. THE CAR IS NOT IN GOOD OPERABLE CONDITION. WHEN I SHIFT THE GEAR TO DRIVE, THE STEPPING ON THE GAS DOES NOT DELIVER POWER TO THE ENGINE FOR 2-3 SECONDS. SO, WHEN I STOP ON THE HILL AND PUT IT TO DRIVE, THE CAR ROLLS DOWN FOR SECONDS UNTIL IT MOVES FORWARD. BUT NISSAN USA RENOUNCED ITS LIABILITY AND REFUSED TO PROVIDE A NEW TRANSMISSION. IN AUGUST OF 2017 MY 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA'S TORQUE CONVERTER FRAGMENTED PIECES OF ITSELF INTO MY TRANSMISSION FLUID. THIS RESULTED IN MY CAR TUGGING AND SHUDDERING WHILE DRIVING UNDER SPEEDS OF 30 MPH INCLUDING SLOWING DOWN AND ACCELERATING. AT A POINT MY VEHICLE TURNED OFF WHILE IN DRIVE AND I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE SELMA NISSAN DEALERSHIP. AFTER A WEEK OF NO FINDING OF THE ISSUE IT WAS BROUGHT TO FRESNO LITHIA WITH THE SAME RESULT OF NO FINDING OF THE ISSUE. A YEAR LATER THE VEHICLE PRODUCED THE SAME PROBLEMS AND AGAIN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE IN DRIVE AND I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE FRESNO LITHIA DEALERSHIP FOR A FULL INSPECTION AGAIN. UPON FURTHER IDENTIFICATION THEY NOTED THAT THIS HAS BECOME A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2013 & 2014 NISSAN ALTIMAS AS THE TORQUE CONVERTER WILL BECOME STUCK AND WHILE SHIFTING AND FORCE THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND SHUT OFF. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND YET I HAD TO PAY FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR MY VEHICLE. I'VE CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE AT (615) 725-7154 AND THEY INFORMED ME THEY DO NOT CONDUCT RECALLS. I SEE THAT IF THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS SO COMMON WHY IS IT NOT ON A RECALL AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS FIX ON MY 4 YEAR OLD CAR. I'M A MARINE VETERAN WITH A 2 MONTH OLD BABY AND $3500 FOR A TRANSMISSION IS NOT CHEAP FOR ME IN MY POSITION. I DO HAVE DOCUMENTATION FROM 3 DEALERSHIPS NOTING I BROUGH IN MY VEHICLE WITH THE OCCURRING PROBLEM DATING BACK A YEAR AGO. I ALSO HAVE PRINTED DOCUMENTATION OF MY NEW TRANSMISSION FOR MY VEHICLE AND POSITIVE TEST RESULT OF MY VEHICLE PERFORMING 4 OUT OF 10 TIMES OF VEHICLE SHUDDERING AND TURNING OFF. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE SWEPT UNDER THE RUG BY NISSAN AS THEY MIGHT FEAR A RECALL OF THEIR VEHICLES.

LAST WEEK (JULY 19, 2018) MY FAMILY WAS ON A TRIP BACK FROM NYC TO ITHACA. WHEN WE ARRIVED IN THE ITHACA AREA AND STOPPED THE CAR AT A RED LIGHT, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. WE WERE ABLE TO PUSH THE ENGINE BUTTON AGAIN TO RESTART THE CAR. SO, I THOUGHT IT WAS NOT A BIG DEAL. TWO DAYS LATER, THE ENGINE TURNED OFF AT A RED LIGHT ON THE ROAD AND IT DID NOT MOVE. CARS BEHIND ME KEPT HONKING AND MY DAUGHTER CRIED IN HORROR. THE ENGINE WAS IGNITED WHEN I PUSH THE ENGINE BUTTON AND THE SHIFT IS IN PARK. BUT AS SOON AS I PUT IT IN DRIVE, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN. THEN I HAD TO PUT IT IN PARK, PUSHED THE ENGINE BUTTON, IT WAS TURNED ON. WHEN I PUT IT BACK TO DRIVE, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS FOR A FEW MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE ENGINE ALIVE IN DRIVE AND DROVE THE CAR, AND PARKED THE CAR IN FRONT OF THE DEALERSHIP. I BARELY MANAGED TO DO THAT. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I REALIZED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE.

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE AT HIGH SPEEDS AND THEN RETURN TO NORMAL IN SHIFT MODE. THE FAILURES OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ALFANO NISSAN (522 WINSTED RD, TORRINGTON, CT 06790) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDING TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY UPDATED THE TRANSMISSION. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED DUE TO THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 260,000.

SHORTLY AFTER THE FIRST YEAR THE CAR BEGAN HESITATING AND EVENTUALLY WENT ON TO COMPLETELY CUT OFF WHILE MY FAMILY AND I WERE TRAVELING. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. I DIDN'T HAVE THAT PARTICULAR PROBLEM FOR ANOTHER YEAR AFTER THE NEW TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIPS WOULD ALWAYS SAY THEY COULD NOT SUPPLICATE MY CONCERN. THE PROBLEM PERSISTING. I'M AFRAID TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE IT STALLS, JERKS OR HESITATES. I WON'T ALLOW MY CHILDREN TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT IS JUST TOO DANGEROUS. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE PAID TAKEN IT FOR DIAGNOSIS THE PAST 6 MONTHS. I'M TAKING IT YET AGAIN TOMORROW. I CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE PATTERN. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE ONCE PAUSING AFTER A LONG DRIVE > 50 MILES. WHILE TRAVELING THIS WEEKEND, I PAUSED AT THE HIGHWAY OFF-RAMP AND IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE BEYOND 15 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THIS TIME. I PULLED OVER AND CUT THE CAR OFF. IT DID FINALLY GO BUT THE RMPS STILL IDLED HIGHLY. THERE ARE SOME DAYS THE PROBLEM ISN'T PREVALENT AND THE DRIVE SEEMS SMOOTH. THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT SO DANGEROUS. I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THERE'S NO TRAFFIC BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO TURN OR PULL INTO TRAFFIC.

THE CAR WOULD ROLL WHILE IN PARK AND STALL AFTER TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED NO ISSUES UNTIL NOW. AROUND 68,000 MILES THE CAR NOW HAS A SLIGHT HESITATION AND WILL STALL. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND A CODE OF P0776 WAS THROWN. SERVICE IN FINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON AND STILL ISN'T ON. TALKED TO A FEW SHOPS AND THEY ALL TOLD ME THIS IS THE THIRD MOST LOOKED UP CODE FOR NISSAN. NISSAN WARRANTY IS ONLY 1 YEAR AND 12,000 MILES ON THEIR TRANSMISSION. THAT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME EITHER WITH SUCH A SHORT MONTH AND MILEAGE AS WELL. NOW WE ARE HAVING TO POSSIBLY BUY ANOTHER TRANSMISSION FOR A CAR WITH ONLY 68,000 MILES WITH A PRETTY MUCH NEW TRANSMISSION. HOW DOES A TRANSMISSION GO OUT WITH ONLY 43,000 MILES ON IT. WITH THE ISSUES NOW THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN. TO SUM IT UP THE GAS PEDAL HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR TO GET TO 70 MILES AN HOUR WHILE ON THE GA400.

I STARTED EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE ABOUT A YEAR AGO. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR SEEM TO NOT CHANGE GEARS. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT WHICH MADE THE VEHICLE TO WHAT I CALL "RESET". THIS DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL MONTHS LATER. NOW MY VEHICLE FROM TIME TO TIME, WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SEEM AS IF IT WILL NOT GO WHEN I ACCELERATE FROM A STOP IN TRAFFIC. I THOUGHT IT NEED TRANSMISSION FLUID. I DISCOVERED THAT IT REQUIES CTV TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CAN ONLY BE DONE AT A DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS NOT TRUE. MY LOCAL CERTIFIED TRANSMISSION REPAIR CENTER SAID THEY COULD PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC FOR $99, WHICH WE DID. WE ARE NOW BEING TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM ON MOST OF THE NISSAN ALTIMA'S. REPLACEMENT WOULD COST ABOUT $4,800. WHY HASN'T NISSAN RECALLED THESE VEHICLES AFTER SO MANY COMPLAINTS?

MY 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS 68,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 60 MPH, MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN PUSHING THE GAS. THIS WAS VERY UNSAFE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO NISSAN. THEY TOLD ME THE CVT TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ALMOST $4,000 TO REPLACE IT.

EVEN, IN NEUTRAL, CAR ENGINE REVS UP TO 2K-3K RPM WITHOUT ACCELERATING. NISSAN COMPANY AND DEALER ARE NOT HELPING AND PUTTING MY LIFE IN DANGER AS I COULD HAVE GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR/ TRAILER.

RECALL TO REPROGRAM CVT DONE 10/4/17 AT NISSAN. 12/6/17 VEHICLE BEGAN RAPIDLY DROPPING SPEED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WITHOUT ME APPLYING BRAKES. VERY DANGEROUS SINCE THERE WERE NO BRAKE LIGHTS TO ALERT OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME TO DECREASE SPEED. TURNED HAZARDS ON & MADE IT TO SLOW LANE, THEN SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. IT WOULDN'T GO BACK INTO DRIVE FOR 15 MINS. ONCE I COULD IT DRIVE AGAIN, IT CONTINUED TO HAVE DECREASED SPEED. AT TRAFFIC LIGHT IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE IN DRIVE & I HAD TO WAIT AWHILE BEFORE IT DID. DROVE TO MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS & THEY SAID IT SHOULD BE TAKEN TO NISSAN. HAD TO BE DRUG ONTO A FLATBED TO BE TOWED A VERY SHORT DISTANCE SINCE IT WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT INTO DRIVE, REVERSE OR NEUTRAL. SERVICE ADVISOR AT EAST CHARLOTTE NISSAN SAID IT NEEDED NEW TRANSMISSION & GAVE A $4,200 QUOTE. HE SAID THIS WAS KNOWN ISSUE WITH CVT TRANSMISSION, MANY WITH LESS THAN 30,000 MILES BUT THOSE WERE STILL UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. HAD NEW NISSAN FACTORY REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION INSTALLED (THEY SAID IT HAD TO BE A CVT BECAUSE VEHICLE WON'T TAKE ANY OTHER TRANSMISSION) WHICH ALSO FAILED AFTER JUST ONE WEEK. THEY SHIPPED & INSTALLED ANOTHER ONE & IT HAS BEEN DOING OKAY FOR 2 WKS NOW. FORUMS SIGHT MANY DRIVERS WITH SIMILAR SYMPTOMS & DANGEROUS INCIDENTS WHILE DRIVING & SAY THE 'NEW' CVTS FAIL AGAIN WHICH HAPPENED TO ME. NISSAN SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THIS DEFECTIVE TECHNOLOGY THAT'S DANGEROUS TO DRIVER SAFETY. NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COST OF THE RECALL AS OWNERS HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE TRANSMISSIONS, A HUGE REPAIR. IT COST ME $3,600 AND I WILL RETAIN MY COPIES. THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE TECHNOLOGY, NOT JUST IN THE ALTIMA. THEY DON'T HAVE AN ALERT ON NHTSA WEBSITE TO WARN CONSUMERS AGAINST BUYING THEIR UNSAFE VEHICLES. THIS REQUEST IS TO PREVENT FATALITIES NOT THAT AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED IN MY CASE.

A FEW MONTHS BACK I TOOK MY 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA, 4-CYLINDER TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL THAT WAS IN CONNECTION WITH RECALL WITH THE SOFTWARE OF THE TRANSMISSION OF SOME SORT. I DID NOT RECEIVE NOTICE BUT WAS ADVISED OF THIS RECALL WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO NISAAN TO GET SERVICES FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED. SINCE HAVING THE RECALL COMPLETE MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES. AT TIMES I AM DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE CAR SHUDDERS AND LOSES POWER. I HAVE COME CLOSE TWICE TO AN AUTO COLLISION AS I AM SHIFTING LANES MY CAR COMPLETELY LOSES POWER AND DROPS SPEED WITHOUT MY CONTROL WITH HE RPM DROPPING DRASTICALLY BUT REGAINING WITHIN SECONDS. THE CAR JERKS AND SHUDDERS. I HAVE HAD ANOTHER FAMILY TEST AS WELL AND HAS SAID THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE AND SOMETHING IS WRONG. I RESEARCHED AND SEE A MULTITUDE OF COMPLAINTS IDENTICAL TO MINE TO THIS PARTICULAR YEAR AND MODEL. I AM TAKING TO THE DEALER TO HAVE DIAGNOSTIC COMPLETE AND HAVE EXPLAINED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS FINE PRIOR TO THE SOFTWARE ADJUSTMENT WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY ARE NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE ISSUES AND POSSIBLY I WILL GET STUCK WITH PAYING WHATEVER REPAIRS. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR TO THE CONSUMER HAVING TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A TRANSMISSION DEFECT THAT THOUSANDS OF NISSAN OWNERS ARE HAVING THE ISSUES AND NOTHING SEEMS TO BE DONE TO REMEDY THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE. THE VERY NEXT DAY AFTER I HAD MY ROUTINE OIL & FILTER CHANGE ON MY VEHICLE, MY VEHICLE STARTED HESITATING IN FIRST GEAR AND IMMEDIATELY I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE NISSAN SERVICE CENTER THE SAME DAY OF THE OCCURRENCE AND I EXPLAINED TO THE NISSAN SERVICE CENTER REPRESENTATIVE THAT MY VEHICLE STARTED HESITATING. (THE DAY AFTER I HAD A SCHEDULED ROUTINE OIL & FILTER CHANGE). WHEN THE NISSAN SERVICE CENTER DIAGNOSED MY VEHICLE I WAS TOLD MY CVT TRANSMISSION INDICATING A BAD INTERNAL SENSOR WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY $3,800 DOLLARS TO REPAIR MY CVT TRANSMISSION. I TOLD THE NISSAN REP THE AMOUNT OF MONEY WANTED TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE WAS TO MUCH MONEY AND THE NISSAN REP STATED MY VEHICLE IS PASS THE WARRANTY LIMIT BECAUSE I HAVE 78,000 MILE AND MY LIMIT IS 60,000 MILES TO BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. NISSAN'S 2014 ALTIMA CVT TRANSMISSIONS ARE NOT SAFE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN OUT OF THE CARS. I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW IN FEBRUARY OF 2014. 1) MY FIRST TRANSMISSION DIED NOV 2016 AFTER ONLY 50K MILES. I WAS AT A RED LIGHT AND MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD, IT KEPT DYING AS SOON AS I TRIED TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR WAS STRANDED IN STREET UNTIL A TOW TRUCK CAME. 2) THE TRANSMISSION IT GOT REPLACED WITH DOES NOT DRIVE SMOOTHLY - IT JERKS, IT GOES TO HIGH RPM'S FOR NO REASON. WHEN I AM IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, IT SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN: WHEN I AM BRAKING, I FEEL A PULL AS IF THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO STOP. OR SOMETIMES THE ENGINE WILL FEEL LIKE IT'S REVVING HARDER THAN I NEED IT TO (UP TO 4-5K RPMS WHEN GOING UNDER 25MPH). 3) THIS TRANSMISSION HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES AT A RED LIGHT. I WILL TRY TO ACCELERATE, AND IT WON'T MOVE. IT FINALLY BEGINS TO GO AFTER 3-5 SECONDS OF STALLING. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL IT DIES COMPLETELY, AS MY PREVIOUS TRANSMISSION DID FOR THIS CAR. 4) I WAS CRUISING ON A SIDE STREET ONCE, GOING AROUND 40-45MPH, AND SUDDENLY THE RPM'S SHOOT UP TO 4-5 FOR NO REASON (USUALLY CRUISE BETWEEN 1-2). I PUT MY FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE GAS, AND IT WOULD NOT STOP. IT FINALLY DID AFTER ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR- ANYTIME I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, I AM WONDERING IF MY CAR IS GOING TO DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF MY TURN, AND IF I AM GOING TO GET T-BONED. I'VE COMPLAINED TO MY DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES (TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS), AND THEY ALWAYS SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. SEARCH ONLINE AND YOU WILL SEE THE MANY COMPLAINS ABOUT NISSAN'S CVT TRANSMISSION. WITH ONLY 65K MILES ON A CAR I BOUGHT NEW, WE SHOULD NOT BE HAVING TO DEAL WITH SUCH A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. I EXPLAINED HOW THE CAR WILL SHUDDER BETWEEN 10-25 MPH SPONTANEOUSLY AND THAT THERE WAS NO SUREFIRE WAY TO KNOW WHAT WAS CAUSING IT OR WHEN IT WOULD HAPPEN; I EXPLAINED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN A HANDFUL OF OCCASIONS WHERE I AM AT A STOP AND PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL TO DRIVE AND THE CAR BARELY MOVES WHICH HAS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON AT LEAST TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS - ANOTHER INCIDENT THAT HAPPENS SPONTANEOUSLY; AND LASTLY, I EXPLAINED HOW THE RPM'S WILL REV AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD STICK. THE FIRST DAY THAT NISSAN HAD MY CAR, THEY SAID IT ACTED UP, BUT THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO DO IT AGAIN AND NO CODES CAME BACK TO REVEAL THE PROBLEM. AFTER DAY 2, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO REGARDING THE ISSUES I COMPLAINED ABOUT. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR, THE SERVICE MANAGER JEFF THIBODEAUX SAID HE BELIEVES IT IS MY TRANSMISSION AND WANTED TO REPLACE IT,BUT HE COULDN'T BECAUSE THERE IS NO CODE COMING BACK TO SHOW THE PROBLEM AND THEY COULDN'T GET THE CAR TO ACT UP AGAIN. I EXPLAINED MY CONCERNS ABOUT DRIVING THIS CAR, THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN AND HOW THE WARRANTY WAS ABOUT TO EXPIRE IN LESS THAN 500 MILES; HE SAID THEY HAVE IT DOCUMENTED IN THE SYSTEM AND IF SOMETHING HAPPENS AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES, THEY WOULD "GO TO BAT" FOR ME. I WENT A STEP FURTHER AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT AT NISSAN (LAST FRIDAY). TODAY, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM AMANDA, THE CASE MANAGER FOR OUR REGION (CASE NUMBER 27815853). SHE WASN'T HELPFUL; INDICATED THAT UNLESS THE PART FAILS, THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN OR WILL DO. SHE TERMINATED THE CALL WHEN I TOLD HER I WAS RECORDING HER.

NISSAN SAID THEY REPROGRAMMED THE CVT TRANSMISSION AND DIDNT BOTHER TO TELL ME THERE WAS A RECALL. WHEN I GOT IT BACK IT WAS WORSE THAN WHEN I TOOK IT IN THE FIRST TIME. IT IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND DANGEROUS FOR THEM NOT TO TELL ME ABOUT THE RECALL.

VEHICLE IS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA 4 CYLINDER MOTOR. IT RECENTLY HAD THE TRANSMISSION RECALL, DISGUISED AS A "CAMPAIGN" PERFORMED. IT WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE. SINCE THEN, THE CAR UPSHIFTS WHILE DECELERATING, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STUMBLE & ALMOST STALL. IT IS SIMILAR TO THE TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKING UP & AFFECTING THE DRIVETRAIN. IF THE ENGINE STALLED, DRIVER WOULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE & MIGHT CRASH THE CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INSIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION WAS GRINDING AND WOULD BREAK AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO BUY BACK THE VEHICLE IN GOOD FAITH HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WOULD NEED TO PAY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS TOWARDS THE BUY BACK. 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA S, 74,000 MILES. I SHIFTED THE CAR FROM PARK TO REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF PARKING SPACE, THE CAR SHUDDERED AND DIED. I AM VERY FORTUNATE THAT I WASN'T HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD MY DAUGHTER STEER THE CAR WHILE I PUSHED IT OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. I TRIED SEVERAL MORE TIMES TO PUT THE CAR IN GEAR, IT WOULD RUN FOR A FEW SECONDS AND DIE. THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS AND NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER. IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH "TORQUE CONVERTER FAILURE/ NEED TO REPLACE CVT UNIT/ FOUND NO DTC'S STORED/FOUND NOT TRANNY LEAKS/ PRINTED OFF TRANNY "A" AND "B" COUNTS JUST IN CASE" I HAVE READ OTHER REPORTS OF THESE ALTIMA'S COMPLETELY FAILING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF NISSAN'S DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. MY FAMILY WAS LUCKY. THE SITUATION COULD HAVE ENDED VERY BADLY IF THIS DEFECTIVE CAR HAD DIED IN TRAFFIC, CAUSING ME OR AN INNOCENT SERIOUS HARM. NOW, MY FAMILY IS FACING AN ALMOST $5000 DOLLAR REPAIR ON A THREE YEAR OLD CAR THAT I DON'T TRUST ANYMORE.

NISSAN HAS A RECALL ON THE CVT ON THE 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA, THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR SOME, BUT NOT ALL. I'VE EXPERIENCED MY VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING AND VERY STRONG JERKING, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TISCHER NISSAN IN LAUREL AND THE JERKING AND SHUTTING STOPPED AFTER THEY RESET THE CVT PER THE RECALL. HOWEVER, IT HAS STARTED AGAIN AND THEY'RE NOW STATING I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CHARGES. THEY KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS PART, YET THEY WON'T BE ACCOUNTABLE. FROM DAY ONE, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AT VARIOUS TIMES BUT THE MECHANICS STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG AND NO WARMING WAS EVER ABLE TO BE FOUND. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE HALT THROWING ME FORWARD. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE IT TO SAFETY AND GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALER MATT BOWERS NISSAN LOCATED AT 13050 INTERSTATE 10 SERVICE RD. NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA 70128. THE CONTACT NUMBER IS (504)245-5900. PRIOR TO ARRIVING, I LEARNED THE VEHICLE HAD A RECALL DEALING WITH THE TRANSMISSION BUT NOT SPECIFICALLY WITH IT STALLING AND GOING OUT. ACCORDING TO ONLINE AND THE DEALER, NISSAN RECALLED WHATS CALLED A CVT WHICH RESETS THE TRANSMISSION. EVERY LAST ONE OF THE SERVICE MEN AUTOMATICALLY KNEW THE ISSUE WHEN I TOLD THEM IT STOOPED ON THE FREEWAY. ONE GENTLEMAN EVEN STATED HE WOULDN'T EVEN PURCHASE ONE FOR HIS DAUGHTER OR HIS WIFE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ASSUMING NISSAN NAME WAS STILL GOOD. THERE ARE REPORTS OF TRANSMISSION GOING OUT WITH 10, AND 30 THOUSAND MILES. MY HOOD ALSO POOPED OPEN WHILE ON THE FREE AND CRACKED MY WINDSHIED A FEW WEEKS AGO. I LEARNED TODAY THERE IS A RECALL ON THE HOOD. THE BACK DOOR CAME OPEN WHILE MY GRANDKIDS WERE IN THE BACK. IT TOOK ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO GET THE REAR DOOR TO CLOSE. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THEY ARE NO BETTER THAN TOYOTA BY KEEPING THIS INFORMATION FROM THE PUBLIC. MY VEHICLE HAS 127512 MILES AND SHOULD NOT BE HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I PUT ALMOST 400 K ON MY IMPALA AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL GOOD. PLEASE MAKE NISSAN PAY AND RECALL THIS TRANSMISSION. FINALLY I GET A CALL WITHIN THAT LAST WEEK THE CAR IS READY WHEN I GET UP TO NISSAN THEY TELL ME THAT THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED AND THAT THEY DROVE THE CAR TO MAKE SURE THAT IT DIDN'T STALL OUT AGAIN AT THIS TIME THE CAR HAD AT THIS TIME MY CAR HAS 53,000 MILES WHEN ALL THIS HAPPENED NOW MY 60000 MILE WARRANTY IS UP I HAVE 63,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT STALLED OUT AT ME AT WORK. THE CAR STARTS UP FINE BUT AS SOON AS YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE IT MAKES A WHINING NOISE AND RUMBLING NOISE AND FINALLY GET A CUT OFF ALSO THE CAR WHEN IT DON'T STALL IT DON'T GO IN REVERSE OR DON'T DRIVE FORWARD.

PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS TO MY DEALER REGARDING MY CAR IS THE 'STUTTERING OR JUTTING' OF MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING - AT TIMES ALMOST VIOLENTLY. THE CVT TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN REPLACED ONCE WITHIN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. ON DECEMBER 29, 2016 WHILE TRAVELING FROM MO TO IL, WHILE ON I-44 TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH UPHILL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE THE BEST WAY I WOULD DESCRIBE IT. THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED REVVING TO OVER 6,000 RPMS, THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT REACT, IT WAS IF THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS REVVING THE ENGINE. THE LOSS OF ABILITY TO CONTROL THE CARS SPEED WHILE GOING UPHILL ON THE EXPRESSWAY PUT US IN SERIOUS DANGER. WE WERE ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS PUT INTO 'PARK' WE WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES BUT DUE TO OUR LOCATION ON THE EXPRESSWAY SHOULDER WE KNEW WE NEEDED TO GET INTO A BETTER SIGHT OF ONCOMING VEHICLES, IT SEEMED AS IF THEY DIDN'T SEE US UNTIL THEY WERE RIGHT NEAR US, MANY TRUCKS WERE UNABLE TO MOVE OVER ON SHORT NOTICE SO WHEN THEY PASTED US AT 70+ MILES THE ENTIRE CAR SHOOK. WHEN RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE INTO EITHER 'DRIVE' OR 'REVERSE'. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED, DUE TO HEAVY VOLUME THEY COULD NOT GET TO US FOR AT LEAST 1 1/2 HOURS, THEY DEEMED THE SITUATION DANGEROUS AND THE MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL WAS CALLED. WHEN THEY ARRIVED APPROXIMATELY 1/2 HOUR LATER THE CAR WOULD GO INTO DRIVE, BUT WITH EXTREME JERKING AND CONSTANT REVVING OF THE ENGINE. SINCE THE CAR MOVED THEY ESCORTED US THE 1 1/2 MILE TO THE NEAREST EXIT OFF THE EXPRESSWAY, WHILE TRAVELING DOWNHILL, JUST COASTING THE CAR WOULD CONSTANTLY JERK AND THE ENGINE WAS REVVING. HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION IN MY 2014 ALTIMA, THE SYMPTOMS ARE WHILE SITTING AT A STOP AND ENGINE IDLING AT A NORMAL RPM IN DRIVE THE CAR WILL AT RANDOM BEGIN TO LURCH FORWARD RPMS WILL FLUCTUATE AND AT TIMES ENGINE WILL DIE. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THE CAR WOULD NOT PRODUCE ANY DIAGNOSTIC CODES. THE CAR SHUT OFF WHEN THE TECH ATTEMPTED TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY ON THE FIRST TEST DRIVE. THEY ALLOWED THE CAR TO COOL AND ATTEMPTED A SECOND TEST DRIVE BUT WERE UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 48,900 MILES, PURCHASED WITH BRAND NEW IN 2014 AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON 12/31/13. THIS VEHICLE IS 2 YEARS OLD AND HAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS HAD A MINIMUM OF 2 RECALLS ON IT SINCE I HAD IT. I WOULD DRIVE THE CAR NEARLY ALL DAY (NO MORE THAN 50 MILES PER DAY) AND SUDDENLY ONCE I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION AND WAS ABOUT TO CROSS IT, THE CAR ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I COULD HEAR THE RADIO. NOTE: MY TODDLER CHILD WAS WITH ME. I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES BUT AS SOON AS I PUT IT IN THE DRIVE GEAR, IT WOULD SHUT OFF AGAIN. I HAD TO SIT TO THE STOP SIGN WITH TRAFFIC APPROACHING FOR NEARLY 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR WOULD ALLOW ME TO START AND PUT IT IN GEAR TO DRIVE IT HOME. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME A FULL DIAGNOSIS AS THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE COOLED. I HAD NO WAY HOME AS I LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE DEALERSHIP'S SHUTTLE RADIUS AND WAS OFFERED A RENTAL CAR BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR IT. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO TRUST THAT I WOULD MAKE IT BACK HOME WITH IT. I DID MAKE IT HOME BUT IT SHUT OFF IN THE YARD. I HAD IT TOWED A FEW DAYS LATER TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER TESTING AND IT WAS REVEALED TO ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. I AM BOTHERED BY THIS BECAUSE THIS IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES AND IS 2 YEARS OLD. ALSO, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME AND MY CHILD AS IT COULD HAVE SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION IN WHICH WE WERE CROSSING.

I EXPERIENCED A GRINDING, SHAKING NOISE AT 2.0 RPM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AND THAT WAS WHEN ALL OF MY TROUBLES BEGAN. THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE AND JERK WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. THERE WAS NOW A VIBRATION AT 1.5 RPM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT A BELT WAS LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME AND IT STILL WAS NOT DRIVING SMOOTHLY AND NOW THE ENTIRE GEAR CONSOLE WAS LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FROM EITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE UPON STARTING, EVEN WHEN THE GEAR SHIFT WAS MOVED. IT WOULD TAKE TWO TRIES EACH TIME TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE FROM PARK. THE VEHICLE WENT BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE GEAR CONSOLE WAS ADJUSTED. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE - VEHICLE NOT MOVING WHEN GEAR PLACED IN REVERSE OR DRIVE. THIS WEEKEND (4/30/16) I DROVE THE VEHICLE IN VIRGINIA AND HAD TO NAVIGATE SEVERAL HIGH ELEVATIONS WHILE ON THE I-81 HIGHWAY. THE CAR WAS SLUGGISH AT BEST, DRAGGING AND THE GEARS WOULD NOT CHANGE. THE CAR WAS RACING LOUDLY TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH THE SPEED, RPM WAS UP AT 3.5 AND THE CAR WAS AT 50 MLES; SPEED LIMIT WAS 70. ONCE I CLEARED THE HILL THE RPMS LEVELED OUT TO 1.5 AND THE CAR HELD THE 70 MPH SPEED. NOTE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PERFORMING THIS WAY BEFORE THE "NEW TRANSMISSION" WAS INSTALLED. I DID HAVE THE GRINDING AND RACING NOISE AT 2.0 RPM, BUT NO HESITATION, JERKING OR ANY DIFFICULTIES IN HIGHER ELEVATIONS. THAT LEADS ME TO CONCLUDE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE OTHER THAN THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE ALSO LODGED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WHOM I AM AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM ON MY COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 18,694 MILES AND WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST OF 2014.

IN OCTOBER 2015, WITH APPROXIMATELY, 61,000 MILES ON THE NISSAN, IT STARTED RANDOMLY HESITATING. I WOULD PUSH THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. A FEW DAYS LATER, I WAS PULLING OUT FROM AN INTERSECTION AND I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE!! I BARELY MADE IT HOME. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION, $3400 AND THAT THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. I CALLED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND FILED A CLAIM TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COVER A NEW TRANSMISSION. AFTER ABOUT 5 OR 6 DAYS, I RECEIVED A CALL BACK AND WAS TOLD NO, THEY WOULD NOT COVER OR HELP PAY FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. I ASKED IF THEY WERE AWARE OF ALL OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS, THE REP SAID THEY HAD PROBLEMS ON PREVIOUS YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLES BUT NOT ON THE 2014(S). I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA S WITH 48,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR FOUR MONTHS I RECENTLY STARTED HAVING AN ISSUE. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS BAD GAS BECAUSE THE CAR STARTED JERKING AND ACTING LIKE IT WAS NOT GETTING GAS. I PURCHASED THE STUFF FOR FUEL THAT YOU USE TO INCREASE THE OCTANE IN THE TANK AND FILLED UP THE TANK. THE CAR DROVE OK FOR A DAY OR TWO, THEN IT STARTED WITH THE FOLLOWING. WHEN I DEPRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AT A STOP LIGHT, IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO PULL OFF. AT THAT TIME THE LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOOKED AT THE OWNERS MANUAL AND IT STATED IT WAS A FUEL EMISSION ISSUE. FILL THE TANK WITH HIGH OCTANE GAS AND THE LIGHT SHOULD GO OUT IN A FEW TRIPS. THE ISSUE CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AS I WAS DRIVING SAT, 10/10/15. I WENT FROM PULLING OFF SLOWLY, TO WHEN I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR IT WOULDN'T GO AT ALL UNTIL I KEPT PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, THEN DRIVE, THEN PARK, THEN DRIVE MANY TIMES UNTIL IT DECIDED TO DRIVE. AT THAT POINT I DECIDED TO TAKE THE CAR HOME CAUSE THE ISSUE WAS GETTING WORSE. ONLY I NEVER MADE IT HOME THE CAR SUDDENLY DECIDED IT WOULD NOT GO MORE THAN 35 IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. TOOK VEHICLE TO REPAIR SHOP AT 2 DEALERS IN 2 STATES WHO COULD NOT CAPTURE INFORMATION AT THAT TIME. BY 12000 MILES WHILE RETURNING FROM VACATION (1/4/2015) THE VEHICLE WAS UNDRIVEABLE. TOOK TO LOCAL DEALER AND NEEDED A COMPLETEE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. AT THIS TIME, VEHICLE WAS JERKING, MISSING GEARS, CHANGING GEARS INDEPENDENTLY, TRYING TO GO IN TO A LOWER GEAR WHILE BREAKED AT A STOP LIGHT AND ENGINE WOULD REV TO ACCELRATE, VEHICLE SHOOK, AND WAS LITERALLY DETERIORATING EACH MILE. TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, AT APPROXIMATELY 14500 MILES, THE SAME VEHICLE SYMPTOMS HAVE BEGUN. TOOK TO DEALER WHILE TRAVELING, THEY WERE ABLE TO CAPTURE MINIMAL DATA BECAUSE AS THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK AND SHAKE, THEIR BATTERY DIED IN THE LAP TOP. HOWEVER, SOME DATA WAS RECORDED. ADVISED TO DRIVE HOME AND FILE COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN MOTORS NORTH AMERICA (WHICH I HAVE DONE,) VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER FOR CONTINUAL STUDY AND NEW TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. WAS ADVISED BY REPAIR MANAGER, THAT TRANSMISSIONS ARE NOW BEING KNOWN TO SEIZE WHILE BEING DROVE. I HAVE REQUESTED NISSAN PURCHASE MY VEHICLE BACK, PAY OFF MY LOAN AND REFUND ANY TRADE IN VALUES AND PAYMENTS MADE ON NMAC LOAN BECAUSE I REFUSE TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION EVERY 2000 MILES. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND WENT TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE THE CAR STALLED OUT. I PROCEEDED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE CAR. WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE AGAIN IN REVERSE, AGAIN IT STALLED; TRIED AGAIN TO PUT IT IN DRIVE, AGAIN IT STALLED. I THEN CALLED HERTZ EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO GET A TOW TO THE NEAREST HERTZ RENTAL WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE TO THE NEAREST AIRPORT. THE TOW CAME IN 45 MINUTES SINCE THE NEAREST RELIABLE TOW WAS IN NORTH CAROLINA. EVEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER COULD NOT PUT THE VEHICLE IN GEAR WITHOUT THE VEHICLE STALLING OUT EVEN AFTER COOLING FOR ALMOST AN HOUR. THE CAR RENTAL GAVE US ANOTHER VEHICLE, A NISSAN SENTRA, WHICH WAS THE LARGEST VEHICLE THEY HAD AVAILABLE. LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO FINISH OUR TRIP TO FLORIDA WITHOUT ANY FURTHER INCIDENCE. I BOUGHT THE CAR LAST YEAR AND IT HAS ONLY BEEN ABOUT 13 MONTHS. ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A KIND OF JERK WHEN I WOULD START OFF A STOP LIGHT AND ACCELERATE. FIRST THINKING IT WAS NOT A GREAT DEAL, I KEPT GOING HOWEVER I NOTICED IT THAT IT WAS BECOMING MORE CONSTANT. ONE DAY ABOUT TO REVERSE OUT OF A PARKING LOT, I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE AT ALL FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I THEN TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT STARTED WORKING FINE. BEING LATE FOR WORK, I THEN CONTINUED ON AND UNTIL YESTERDAY EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. YESTERDAY, I GOT INTO MY CAR, STARTED IT, SWITCHED TO DRIVE, AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, TURNED IT ON AGAIN, MOVED THE SHIFTER INTO REVERSE AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN. I HAVE SINCE HAD IT TOWED AND IT IS BEING CHECKED AT THE DEALERSHIP. DRIVING IN MIDDLE LANE ON EXPRESSWAY IN CHICAGO, WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR TRAFFIC ACCIDENT AGAIN I THOUGHT I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BECAUSE MY CAR JUMPED. I HAVE NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE - 2014 ALTIMA SL. SEVERAL TIMES AFTER STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THE TRANSMISSION STOPS SWITCHING GEARS (SPEEDS). THE VEHICLE HAS A PUSH BUTTON START/STOP. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE CAN BE LEFT IN GEAR AND THE AUDIBLE WARNING INDICATORS ARE CONFUSING AND INCONSISTENT. IT THEN STRUGGLES TO FIND THE CORRECT GEAR RATIO AND FLUCTUATES BETWEEN 1000-1500 RPM WITHOUT ANY INTERVENTION. THIS CREATES A JERKY BEHAVIOR AND ACCELERATION WHEN NONE INTENDED ESPECIALLY WHEN ONE INTENDS TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. THERE IS ALMOST ZERO ENGINE ASSIST FOR DECELERATION. INSTEAD OF DROPPING TO AROUND 1000 OR LOWER AND THEN STAYING STEADY THERE, IT DROPS AND JUMPS UP WHICH CREATES DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION ESPECIALLY IN RAIN AND SNOW. THIS OCCURS MOSTLY AT SPEEDS UNDER 30 -35 MPH BUT HAS BEEN FELT AT SPEEDS AS HIGH AS 55 MPH. IT FEELS AS THOUGH THE ENTIRE DRIVE TRAIN OF THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO FALL OUT OF THE CAR. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 1200 MILES ON ODOMETER AND SYMPTOMS HAVE BEEN INCREASINGLY NOTICEABLE AND FREQUENT SINCE 605 MILES ON ODOMETER. SEPARATE ISSUE: NAVIGATION / AUDIO SYSTEM HAS FROZEN SCREEN UPON START UP AND BECOMES UN RESPONSIVE. NO ABILITY TO CHANGE PREVIOUS VOLUME LEVEL OF RADIO WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN LEFT AT HIGH VOLUME LEVEL DURING PREVIOUS DRIVE. INPUT IS NOT ACCEPTED ON HEAD UNIT OR STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS. NAVIGATION WILL NOT INITIATE. CAR MUST BE RESTARTED FOR SYSTEM TO REBOOT AND THIS MAY REMEDY THE PROBLEM FOR ONE DRIVE CYCLE OR MORE. HAS OCCURRED 5 OR MORE TIMES IN FIRST MONTH OF OWNERSHIP. SHOULD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IN THE DRIVE TRAIN OCCUR, I FEEL THAT I AM AT RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY. I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION PREPARING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. WHEN THERE WAS AN OPENING IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL TO PROCEED FORWARD AND AS I ENTERED THE INTERSECTION THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DROPPED THE RPM'S AND ACTED AS IF IN "LIMP MODE". I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR TO TRY TO GET OUT OF THE INTERSECTION BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND AND ONLY "CRAWLED" THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE INTERSECTION DUE TO THIS ISSUE ONCOMING TRAFFIC HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES AND ALMOST HIT ME. ONCE I EXITED THE INTERSECTION I LOOKED FOR A PLACE TO PULL OVER AND STOPPED ABOUT A 500 YARDS FROM THE INTERSECTION. I THEN NOTICED THE VDC LIGHT WAS ON. I PRESSED THE VDC BUTTON AND IT LITE UP ANOTHER INDICATOR ON THE DASH SHOWING OFF. I PRESSED IT AGAIN AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT HOWEVER THE OTHER VDC LIGHT ON THE DASH STAYED ILLUMINATED. I THEN TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND WAITED A COUPLE MINUTES AND WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE THE OTHER VDC LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE VEHICLE THEN DROVE NORMAL. I HAVE SINCE NOTICED A SOUND LIKE THE TRANSMISSION SPINNING WHENI PRESS THE ACCELERATOR. I WAS SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SO I WENT HOME. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND HAD THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BUT WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO "FAULT CODES" AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHY MY NEW CAR WHEN INTO "LIMP MODE" AND THE VDC LIGHT CAME ON. THIS CAR IS NEW AND NOW I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT! THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT BACK. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS PROBLEMS ON OTHER INTERNET CAR FORUMS REGARDING OTHER NISSAN ALTIMA'S WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. THERE IS EVEN ANOTHER ONE ON THIS SITE! THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED ASAP. 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA SL 2.5 MAKES ALLOT OF NOISE AND VIBRATION WHEN YOU ACCELERATE TO GET UP TO A HIGHWAY SPEED WHETHER IT IS FROM THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION IT IS VERY LOUD INSIDE THE CAR! THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMS TO HAVE A LOT OF PLAY IN IT AT A DEAD STOP WITH ENGINE RUNNING BY TURNING THE WHEEL RIGHT TO LEFT! YOU ALSO HEAR CLUNKING NOISES TURNING IT RIGHT TO LEFT! THE FUEL IN THE TANK MAKES LOUD SWISHING NOISES SORT AS IF I HAVE A SMALL OCEAN IN MY FUEL TANK!

NO UNUSUAL SOUNDS OR CHECK ENGINE NOTICED WITH THE FOLLOWING: 1) WHILE SITTING IN CRAMPED TRAFFIC, I LET OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL TO INCH FORWARD A FEW FEET WHILE RIDING THE BRAKE. RMS DROPPED TO 500 FOR EVERY INSTANCE AND CAR BEGAN TO SHUTTER. *TR 2) COMING TO STOP LIGHTS/SIGNS. AFTER TRAVELING A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 1/8-1/4 MILE @30-40 MPH, THE DECELERATION CAUSED THE RPM TO DROP TO 500 AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUTTER AS I REACHED THE STOPPING POINT. I NOTICED THIS EVERY NOW AND THEN. I CANNOT REPLICATE, HOWEVER I WAS ABLE TO RECORD THE RPM DROP ON TWO OCCASIONS WITHIN 5 MIN OF EACH OTHER. 3) SHUTTERING THAT OCCURS AT LOW SPEEDS IS FELT AT HIGHER SPEEDS (50+).FEEL THE SHUTTERING AS IF TRANSMISSION WAS TRYING TO GET TO NEXT GEAR, BUT IT HOLDS STEADY AND VIBRATES. NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE RIDE. 4) AT RANDOM PERIODS OF JUST WAITING IN THE CAR WITH IT RUNNING, WILL FEEL SURGE AS RPMS DROP FOR AN INSTANCE. TOOK VEHICLE IN BASED ON COMPLAINTS. SERVICE CENTER INITIATED THE CAR TO "RE-LEARN" IDLE. ISSUE 1, NO LONGER A PROBLEM THUS FAR. ISSUE 2, STILL AN ISSUE. ISSUE 3 STILL AN ISSUE. ISSUE 4, STILL AN ISSUE. TAKING IT BACK TO SAME DEALER AGAIN, AND ANOTHER DEALER FOR A 2ND SERVICE TEAM DIAGNOSTICS. *TR

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN AT A STOP LIGHT, VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND SLOW DOWN. IT FELT AS IF IT WAS GOING TO LOSE POWER. I HAD TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR HARDER THAN EXPECTED AS THERE WAS ANOTHER VEHICLE BEARING DOWN ON ME IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS IS A NEW VEHICLE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND IT APPEARS TO BE A TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE. THE SHAKING IS NOT AN ISSUE IN ITSELF, HOWEVER IT COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENTS IF SOMEONE IS MAKING A TURN AND NEEDS TO GET OUT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SEEM TO RESPOND AS EXPECTED. *JS
