The front seat passenger air bag detection system does not detect a passenger in the seat and turns off the frontal air bag. This has occurred numerous times and applies to certain 2015 Nissan Altimas. Nissan claims the recall to repair the Occupant Classification System does not apply to our VIN number, yet we continue to have this safety issue. The issued has been addressed with several dealerships, even provided them videos of the problem, and the problem continues as of today's date.
Failure of Airbags to deploy after a rear end collision by another car. On 01.31.2025. My vehicle - a Nissan Altima 2015 was hit by an SUV while stopped at an intersection behind another vehicle. My Altima was thrust forward into the vehicle stopped ahead ome causing significant rear damage to the rear and front bumper, the trunk, and left tail lights. Despite the force of the collision and the resulting hit of the front car ahead, none of the Altima airbags deployed to protect me from serious injuries which can be potentially fatal. This indicates that the airbags may be faulty and non-operational. The car has been deemed a total loss and insurance has declined my claim and cannot compensate me because of limited collision coverage for the vehicle, and the offending driver fled the scene and cannot be identified. The offender almost ran me over as I tried to exit the vehicle to identify them. There are no warning lamps on the dashboard except - "trunk open" warning after the incident The police inspected the vehicle and details are in the police report attached

My car has been to Nissan service 3 times for a faulty airbag light - it thinks the driver seat is unoccupied when it is not - that means the air bag may not activate. The dealer has been able to turn off the light but it eventually comes back on. It meets all the criteria below for the recall but the VIN is excluded. I have paid $562.02 in service fees and now they want $2,000 to replace the seat. I would like my VIN added to the recall. 2015 Nissan Altima Air Bag Recall Nissan has announced that 919 vehicles have been affected by a Air Bag recall. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Altima and Pathfinder vehicles, 2013-2014 Nissan Sentra vehicles, 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles, 2014-2015 Infiniti QX60 vehicles and 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles. The affected vehicles received an incorrect occupant classification system (OCS) control unit during a repair. These OCS control units may incorrectly classify the front passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult. If the OCS does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag would be deactivated. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.

I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE VERY BAD LOW BEAM LIGHTING AT NIGHT. ITS SO TERRIBLE THAT ITS LIKE HAVING NO LIGHTS ON AT ALL AND RIDING WITH THEM ON CONSTANT HIGH BEAMS HAS RESULTED IN ME BEING PULLED OVER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS BY POLICE BUT ITS ALSO UNSAFE TO ALL OTHER DRIVERS I PASS. THE LOW BEAMS WERE WHY I HAD AN ACCIDENT IN NOV OF 2023. THAT RESULTED IN ME GOING DOWN AN EMBANKMENT HITTING A TREE HEAD ON. FROM THAT ACCIDENT I ALSO LEARNED THE AIR BAGS WERE FAULTY BC THEY DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER. I WAS ONLY INJURED WITH A FEW SCRAPES, BRUISES AND ALOT OF SORENESS BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH WORSE. I HAVE THE PHOTOS FROM THAT WRECK THAT SHOWS THE DAMAGE BUT ALSO HOW THE AIR BAGS DIDNT DEPLOY AS WELL. I PLAN TO LOOK INTO WHAT OTHER ACTIONS I CAN TAKE AGAINST NISSAN SINCE THEY KNOW THESE ARE ISSUES AND HAVE NOT FIXED THEM. MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN OCTOBER OF 2015. Air bag light came on about 3 weeks ago. Called dealership and they say no recalls. Says to bring car in and it will take 3 to 4 days to run diagnostics. I am a single car family and would need to get a rental for those 3 days. I am on a fixed income. Why 3 days just to run diagnostics

I notified Nissan Consumer Reports on July 5, 2024. Nissan representative, Nissan will not assist with the cost of replacing the Airbag or parts and labor associated with the airbag because of my vin number, limited warranty and mileage of my vehicle.

Air bag light on passenger side stays on and unable to drive vehicle at night due to lights being so dim
I was on the 15 freeway going home and bent down to pick up something I dropped and hit the car that was stopped in front of me. What I remember is my glasses flying off and I hit my chest and head on the steering wheel and also broke my foot. At that time I realized that the air bag did not deploy and the seat belt did not hold me and I hit the steering wheel with full force. I spent three days in the trauma center being treated for bleeding on the brain. There was 10 recalls on this vehicle, a 2015 Nissan Altima, and 2 former owners did not carry out their responsibilities to get the recalls taken care of. Now I am suffering because the owners where too lazy to be responsable.

I bought 2015 Nissan Altima from Cars Express on 2/17/2023. He breached verabal agreement and will not fix the safety issues. I paid him for the paint job on front bumper and paid for the paint. Witnesses that he would pay then refused pay the paint men so I paid them once vehicle was in my possession front blinkers do not work headlight out. Safety sensor is cut. Air bag light came on and says air bags not on check engine light came on.. I tried to talk to him about safety concerns and I asked to return the vehicle for full payment including the paint and paint job I already paid him. The car was a salvage rebuilt and the hood of the car needed to be aligned that wasn’t done, safety concern is hood might open while I’m driving. He defrauded/scammed me. I’m stuck with an vehicle that is not safe, he does his own repairs which he told me he takes them a mechanic. He buys wrecks and chop shop fixes them. The car was inspected on 1/14/2023 by [XXX]. THE VEHICLE CONSOLE INDICATES AN ISSUE WITH THE AIRBAG. AIRBAG ERROR LIGHT IS CONTINUALLY LIT AFTER THE VEHICLE STARTS. NISSAN DEALER CONFIRMS THE LIGHTED ERROR AND REQUESTS REPLACING THE AIRBAG AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
For the past year in a half I have had my airbag light on. I took it to Nissan they told me I needed a new seat which; the seat moves fine and theres no actual known problem with it. I then took it to a different Nissan and they said it was a side airbag module coming from the left side. So from there they checked it then cleared the light and said everything should be all set. Few weeks later the light came back on so I returned it to them and they cleared the light again and said it was a petty reason that it kept coming back on. Months later it came right back on and I took it back and they still have yet to find a solution other than clearing the light. This is really frustrating and frighting because if they don't know why it keeps coming on I am left to think of the worst things that can happen especially when the airbag is suppose to save me in an accident.
The are warning lights coming up for the passenger side airbag system. The dealership in Rockville Maryland confirmed the problem and said they would charge a lot of money to fix it. I have studied this problem on line and noticed that there are a lot of cars just like mine had a recall for this issue and were covered with no charge since it it a safety issue.
On my 2015 Nissan Altima, the SRS warning light came on and my dealership advised me that there is an OBD error code of B0028-13 for the Passenger Seat OCS. Upon researching recalls for my vehicle, I discovered several NHTSA Campaign Numbers, including 15V681000 and 16V244000, which appear to cover this problem with 2013-2016 Nissan Altimas. However, when searching my VIN for recalls, I get a zero. I'm trying to learn why four model years of Altimas are covered for this problem, but mine doesn't seem to be. Thanks for any guidance.

Passenger airbag repeatedly registering a warning light despite multiple attempts by mechanics to fix the issue. The light will usually go off briefly after attempted repairs (long enough for car to pass inspection, for example) but turns back on once the car is driven only a short distance. Unclear whether the problem is a sensor issue alone or whether the airbag is actually nonfunctional. Problem has existed since July 2022; it is currently the beginning of September.

I took it to a Nissan Dealership in Orlando, Florida and was provided with an estimated invoice for $2,500. I happened to learn online that Nissan had a recall campaign involving this same issue. I also learned that during the recall campaign, Nissan alerted its customers as follows: -This safety defect can KILL or seriously injure you or your passengers -All safety recall repairs are free at authorized Nissan dealerships -Replacement parts are available for all affected Nissan vehicles -A FREE loaner car, towing service or mobile repair in select locations may be available to assist with any inconvenience this repair may cause -Contact your local authorized dealer or call 1-888-546-1048 now to schedule your free recall repair I called the aforementioned phone # for Nissan and was told that this is a closed campaign. My concern is that despite the closure of the campaign, this serious safety issue has arisen for me. So, my call was escalated to the Nissan Consumer Affairs department at 800-647-4261. I was told that recalls are VIN specific and that according to Nissan's system, the VIN for my vehicle was not part of the recall campaign. I was told that I may contact you, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to report my safety concern. Can you help me with this? I need to have my car repaired and I would like to have Nissan pay for this serious safety issue.

My 2015 Nissan Altima, I've had it (7 years), started stopping without warning. Last week, I've had the valve cover replaced, because it was oil coming through one of the chambers of my spark plugs, I got a new battery, & I got the oil changed to make sure that everything was flowing correctly and running clean. Then it happened again. I put my car in park, I turned it off, and started again. There were no warning lights or codes that came across the dashboard. It was more frustrating because there's no warning no preparation it just does it so I did a system diagnostic ( Hitting the push to start button 5 times then hitting the door Button on the inside of the door jam 10 times then hitting the push to start button 3 times and the car will test all of the systems). My car was not running hot, there are no warning lights, you don't know when it's happening it feels like it's pulling or struggling with torque, and then before you know it you've come to a complete stop. It happened in the middle of an intersection. Multiple codes are hiding in the system, with no indications on the dash. The code discovered by my local mechanic was P7F1 (transmission code). This is based Tech Bulletin #NTB15083A. Hundreds of owners of Nissans have indicated the same issues with no resolve from Nissan or their local dealerships This is dangerous

The contact's vehicle was towed to an independent body shop where it was deemed a total loss. The contact sustained injuries days after the accident and was treated at local hospital. A CT scan and X-ray showed that the contact suffered a concussion. She also experiences pain to her upper and lower back as well as neck but had yet to receive an official diagnosis for that. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that her vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V911000 (Air Bags). I was driving when the hood opened a little bit. I pulled over so I can shut the hood and once I closed it, the airbag light came on. I took my car to get the airbag light diagnosed and I was told I would need to replace the airbag sensor as well as the whole driver airbag. My dealership did not have the ETA of the airbag for replacement. They first appeared back in December, I figured the light would go away by itself since nothing really happen other than me closing the hood.
Brought car to Nissan Dealership and diagnostic reports air bag driver side needs to be replaced. No specific incident occured to prompt the light to be on it just came on one day.
Airbag light came on in September 2021.Took to dealership on October 5, 2021. They ran a diagnostic test and charged me $160 to tell me that code B0020 Aide Airbag Module Left Side is open. I purchased extended warranty when car was purchased new. Platinum plan $2098. Nissan is unwilling to do anything to help with airbag situation even though they have a very long history of airbag issues. They quoted $1900 for the repair. Extended warranty company does not cover any repairs on safety equipment!!! How can this be? Nissan encouraged me to purchase extended warranty because, and I quote “the sensors and all of the electronics are very expensive to replace if something goes wrong”. So I fell for it. Is there anything you can do to help. The car is 7 years old and I really don’t want to spend $1900 on this. Right now I can’t drive it, or sell it and it won’t pass inspection. Do I have options? The air bags were repaired ( non-accident related ) and now the airbag light has come back on.
There is no incident. My airbag light is on and the dealership does not know what the issue is. It's been on over 2 years. First they said it was the airbag module then they said it was the seat. They want over $1000 to fix it. I contacted Nissan and they said since it was not a recall it was my responsibility. It passes inspection so I am leaving it and only hope the airbags deploy if I have a wreck.

Involved in +$6,000 not at fault front end crash on 9/29/2021 in Tampa Florida. Aggravated previous knee problems. Vehicle is currently at Caliper Collision in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Insurance involved. Air bag failed to go off. All front end safety sensors failed to work. Previously vehicle was taken to dealer to have forward collision/emergency braking fixed after light on dash was on. Was told it was fixed.
The passenger air bag light is showing off, cannot get it to reset by the switch or turning the car off.
Airbag sensor warning lamp is on. Has happened in the past as well but Nissan fixed it since there was a recall. Now the car is outside the warranty, Nissan does not want to fix their defected airbag components/sensors and is asking for $1700 to start with a replacement part on the back of the driver seat and does not even guarantee the fix, they say more diagnosis/repairs might be needed after the first fix. I need help. Nissan North America refused to help and told me if I want I can reach out to NHTSA since there is no recall at the moment. The air bags will not work in the event of a crash and my wife drives this car everyday with my 2 little girls. Can NHTSA help with this safety issue? I purchased this car brand new from Nissan, I am the only owner and this car has never been in an accident.

Driver's Air Bag light came on, staying on. I took it to the dealer on appointment. After having vehicle 2 days, they were unable run diagnostic tests, too busy. I was told to bring it back next week. It seemed that he was hesitant to proceed because of the probability of not easily finding the problem even with diagnostics. I called another dealer and he patiently explained the numerous tests involved in tracing down the problem only to often not identify the exact problem resulting in additional costs to the consumer sometimes at great expense. He did say the air bag will not deploy if the warning light is engaged. I feel this is a safety defect that should be recalled. The manufacturer should ensure that their repairman have the ability to quickly identify the source of the problem. At present this is not a recall item. I am reluctant to proceed with repairs that have so many unknowns yet also afraid to dirve the vehicle in its current state.

I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING RECALLS FOR MY CAR REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION THE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY, THE PRIMARY HOOD LATCH DISENGAGED WHICH COULD OBSCURE THE DRIVERS VISION INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT NEITHER THE AIRBAGS HAVE EVER DEPLOYED. EVERY TIME I GO TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP THEY CLAIM A CONNECTOR WAS LOOSE OR THAT THE CIRCUIT WAS OPEN. EVERY TIME I TAKE THE CAR OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP THE LIGHT IS OFF, BUT AFTER A DAY OR SO THE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT SUCH A CRITICAL SYSTEM AS THE AIRBAG IS, WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY, AND THAT NISSAN WOULD NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THEY KEEP TRYING TO CHANGE DIFFERENT PARTS ON THE AIRBAG SYSTEM TO TRY TO GET IT FIXED, BUT IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND ARE JUST TRYING TO SEE WHAT FIXES THE ISSUE. I REACHED OUT TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON 11-30-18 AFTER DISCUSSING WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE WITH A HELEN EMPLOYEE #7319348 AND WAS ASSIGNED CASE# 33678608 AND WAS TOLD SOMEONE WOULD GET BACK TO ME BY THE END OF THE DAY 12-3-18. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAD A TOTAL OF 8 RECALLS DOCUMENTED UNDER THE NHTSA OF WHICH 3 OF DEALT WITH THE OCCUPANT SIDE AIRBAG AND OCS (#16V911000, #16V24400 AND #15V681000) AND THAT IT WAS A SAFTY ISSUE AND WAS NO FAULT OF OURS AND BASED UPON ALL THIS INFORMATION THE CORRECT THING TO DO WOULD BE TO COVER THIS ISSUE. HE APOLOGIZED OVER-AND-OVER BUT WOULD NOT COMMIT TO COVER THIS. INSURANCE ADJUSTER STATED HE WAS VERY SURPRISED AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE IS BEING HELD PENDING INVESTIGATION BY NISSAN. I BELIEVE THE NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE ALSO BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.

I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY REPROGRAMMED IT ACCORDING TO THE RECALL DIRECTIONS. TWO DAYS LATER I WAS RIDING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND NOTICED THE LIGHT WAS ON THAT TELLS YOU THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG IS OFF. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT MIGHT NOT HAVE TAKEN THE WHOLE PROGRAM AND THEY WOULD DO IT AGAIN. THE OCS HAS APPARENTLY BEEN TURNED OFF COMPLETELY, THEREBY CAUSING A SAFETY RISK TO MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS. WITH THIS FUNCTION TURNED OFF, THE VEHICLE RESTRAINT SYSTEM MAY NOT WORK. THE ISSUE CONTINUED, THE THIRD TIME IT WAS IN, THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR IN THE SEAT. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AFTER THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED. I WAS THEN DIRECTED BY THE DEALER TO FILE A CLAIM WITH NISSAN. I DID SO AND THEY DISPATCHED A DEALER SERVICE TECHNICIAN TO EVALUATE THE CAR. HE CLAIMED THAT HE COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT NISSAN COULD DO. HIS REPORT INDICATED THAT THE "SYSTEM IS WORKING AS DESIGNED". I RECEIVED A COPY OF A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN DATED AUGUST 29, 2014 WHICH STATES THAT OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS) RESPONDS TO DIFFERENT SEATING POSTURE AND MAY BE OPERATING NORMALLY. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE TECHNICIAN THAT IF IT HAPPENS TO HAVE THE PASSENGER GET OUT AND GET BACK IN TO RESET THE SYSTEM. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WHERE THE PASSENGER HAD TO SIT A CERTAIN WAY OR GET OUT OF THE CAR TO MAKE THE AIR BAGS WORK PROPERLY!! I REQUESTED TO HAVE MY CASE ESCALATED TO THE NEXT LEVEL AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOT A NEXT LEVEL. ALTHOUGH I HAVE PLACED A BAG ONTO THE PASSENGER SEAT A COUPLE OF TIMES WHILE DRIVING, THE AIRBAG AUXILIARY LIGHT NEVER CAME ON WHILE ANYTHING OR ANYONE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THEN AGAIN TODAY, 03/26/2015, THE AIRBAG AUXILIARY LIGHT CAME BACK ON IN MY 2015 NISSAN ALTIMA WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH NOTHING/NO ONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. *TR
