This issue had been going on for years with my 2004 Nissan Armada. Driving down the freeway at approximately 70mph and the brake light comes on out of no where. When this happens there us no way to safe stop the vehicle because the brakes will not engage. There is this rattling and grinding sound that happens each time. The only way to safely continue is turn the truck off and back on. This needs to be corrected immediately before there is a fatal because of brake failure. Nissan refuse to research all the complaints.

As I was driving through the canyon at 55 mph I pressed on my brakes to begin to slow down for the construction zone coming up and they felt like air no pressure then there was a grinding sound like something was breaking underneath my vehicle as I let off my brakes the brake light came on and it sounded like a spring releasing under my vehicle. I attempted to use my brakes almost a dozen times attempting to stop with the same grinding and spring sound happening. Once I was finally able to come to a safe stop I turned my vehicle off and once I turned it back on the brake light was off and the pressure was back in my brakes

TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH NEAR MY OFFRAMP WHEN BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS AND IT DOESN'T GET DRIVEN ON A REGULAR BASIS AS IT IS OUR 3RD VEHICLE. AS I APPROACHED THE RAMP WITH BRAKES EVEN LIGHTLY DEPRESSED THE BRAKES CHATTERED AND FELT WEEK. HAD TO STOP ON THE RAMP, SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART SO I COULD CONTINUE. AT LEAST THIS TIME I KNEW WHAT TO DO TO MAKE GO AWAY AT LEAST TEMPORARILY. WE HAVE TO ALWAYS MAKE SURE WE HAVE PLENTY OF EXTRA SPACE IN FRONT OF US SO WE TIME TO REACT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I JUST HOPE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. ALSO HAD AN INCIDENT WHILE TOWING A SMALL UTILITY TRAILER EARLY IN 2020 WHEN IT HAPPENED AND IT WAS MUCH MORE EXTREME AND I WAS AFRAID I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP IT AT THE UPCOMING STOP SIGN. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THIS AND FIX IT AT THEIR COST. IF IT CAN BE REST BY JUST TURNING THE KEY OFF SOMEONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIGURE THIS OUT. MY UNDERSTANDING FROM THE FORUMS I HAVE RED THAT THE DEALERS JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY TO REPLACE PARTS THAT DON'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS EVEN ON WHO SAID THEY REPLACED ALMOST ALL BRAKE RELATED PARTS AND IT STILL DID IT.

THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS FROM 10MPH TO 70MPH.WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND FREEWAYS AND NEED TO COME TO A STOP THE BRAKE LIGHT, VDC OFF LIGHT, AND SLIP LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN BRAKES APPLIED, VERY LOUD GRINDING/CLUNKING METAL NOISE HAPPENED AND BRAKES WOULD NOT ENGAGE ONLY AT ABOUT 10% OF BRAKES WORKING IT SEEMS. I STOP TURN OFF THE CAR AND START IT BACK UP AND IT SEEMS TO RESET. THIS CANNOT HAPPEN AS I ALMOST GOT INTO NUMEROUS COLLISIONS BECAUSE OF THIS ABS BRAKE MALFUNCTION !! DOING RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM FROM OTHER ARMADA OWNERS FORUMS THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS QUIET FREQUENTLY. SOME OWNERS CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT ITS A FAULTY DELTA SENSOR IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER. NISSAN MUST RECALL THIS PROBLEM ASAP!!

IN THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS ON TWO OCCASIONS SINCE BEING PURCHASED IN JAN OF THIS YEAR (2020) THE BRAKES ON MY 2004 NISSAN PATHFINDER/ARMADA OFF-ROAD RWD HAVE OUT OF THE BLUE, ONCE AT HIGHWAY SPEED CHATTERED WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE AND FELT LIKE THEY WERE NOT AT 100%. THE NEXT TIME IT WAS ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET, HAD JUST LEFT A RESIDENCE A HALF BLOCK AWAY DOING UNDER 20 MPH AND IT FELT LIKE THE WHOLE FRONT SUSPENSION WAS FALLING OFF BECAUSE IT WAS CHATTERING SO BAD. DIDN'T EVEN HIT THE BRAKES HARD AND WAS AFRAID IT WASN'T GOING TO STOP AT THE STOP SIGN. IT CONTINUED TO DO IT EVERY TIME I DEPRESSED THE PEDDLE EVEN VERY LIGHTLY. I HAD TO PULL AROUND THE CORNER AND STOP TO CHECK IT OUT BUT COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING LOOSE OR WRONG. I STARTED OFF AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE JUST PULLING OVER AND STOPPING TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. IT DID NOT FEEL SAFE TO MAKE THE 20 MINUTE DRIVE HOME. ONCE IT WAS HOME IT WAS LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED. I READ SOME BLOGS THAT SUGGEST THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED FREE OF CHARGE. THEY SAY THERE IS A FIX (REPROGRAMMING THE COMPUTER OR SOMETHING). THE BLOGS SAY THAT THE DEALERS ARE CHARGING BIG BUCKS TO DO THE WORK. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE DEALT WITH IMMEDIATELY. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT NISSAN HASN'T BEEN FORCED TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES BEFORE THIS SINCE IT IS WAY TOO COMMON ACCORDING THE BLOGS. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE PRIMARILY TO TRANSPORT OUR GRANDCHILDREN AND ARE NOW VERY HESITANT AS WELL AS THERE PARENTS ARE TO HAVE THEM RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE. THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN FULLY INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC AND NO MECHANICAL ISSUES ARE PRESENT. WE ARE THE SECOND OWNER AND IT HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED. CAUSE: UNKNOWN. SEVERAL TIMES WHEN DRIVING MY BRAKE LIGHT WILL COME ON ALONG THE BRAKE DOES NOT ENGAGE. WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE PEDAL YOU HEAR A LOUD GRINDING SOUND SIMILAR TO SPRINGS BEING EJECTED FROM THE CAR. IT DOES NOT SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE AT ALL AND THE GRINDING IS LOUD AND SEEMS TO BE DAMAGING INTERNAL PARTS. WHEN YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF, AND RESTART IT THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN FREMONT CA. THEY ADVISED TO CHANGE THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. WHICH I ELECTED TO DO AND COST ME A LOT OF MONEY. IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I CALLED THE NEXT DAY FOR THEY WERE CLOSED. THEY SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T SEE ANY ERRORS ON THEIR READER AND CANNOT REPLACE PARTS WHEN THERE ARE NOTHING SHOWING. I INSISTED TO TAKE IT IN AND THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED I CLEAN THE BATTERY OR GET A NEW BATTERY WHICH I DID. THE PROBLEM STOPED FOR A MONTH UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING 50MPH DOWN A WINDY ROAD. NOW IM READING A 2016 CLASS ACTION AND A LAWSUIT WHERE A PERON WAS KILLED. THERE ARE MULTIPLE POSTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. NISSAN NEEDS TO RECALL THIS BEFORE MORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED!

NOTE THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO WITHOUT ANY SERVICE HISTORY FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER. HOWEVER I WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS OPEN ON THE VIN. WHILE TRAVELING HOME (45MPH) I OBSERVED THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATE ON THE DASHBOARD AND NOTICED THE BRAKES WERE MALFUNCTIONING. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL THE ABS/BRAKES APPEARED TO MAKE GRINDING/METALLIC NOISES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD VIBRATE AND GO TO THE FLOOR. I THOUGHT THAT A BRAKE LINE OR FLUID ISSUE MAY HAVE OCCURRED, BUT WHEN I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION I DID NOT SEE ANY VISUAL ISSUES. THEN UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE THE ISSUE WAS NO LONGER PRESENT. WHEN I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE I FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT NISSAN BRAKES HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES AND FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN NTB06-040.PDF REGARDING THE ISSUE. UPON USING A SCANTOOL TO READ THE VEHICLE CODES I WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM THAT DTC C1179 WAS PRESENT AND THAT THIS ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE SERVICE BULLETIN. THE SERVICE BULLETIN INDICATES A SOFTWARE UPDATE ADDRESSES THE ISSUE. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY INDICATED NISSAN WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I AM SEEING ONLINE (CLUBARMADA, NISSANHELP, ETC) REGAING THIS ISSUE AND FEEL THAT IF A SOFTWARE UPDATE IS NEEDED TO RESOLVE THAN THERE IS EITHER 1) A SOFTWARE BUG (WHICH NEEDS A RECALL) OR 2) A DEFECTIVE SENSOR (DELTA SENSOR) THAT THE SOFTWARE UPDATE CHOOSES TO IGNORE OR DIMINISH. EITHER WAY A RANDOM BRAKE MALFUNCTION THAT CAN "FIX" ITSELF UPON REBOOT (RESTARTING THE VEHICLE) SEEMS SUSPICIOUS AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AROUND 45 TO 50 MPH. I LOOKED DOWN AND WHEN I LOOKED BACK UP A CAR WAS STOPPED IN THE ROAD. WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKE IT MADE A WEIRD NOISE ALMOST LIKE A SPRING GOING BOING AND AIR RUSHING. THE NOISE IS VERY HARD TO DESCRIBE. THE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKES HAD A WEIRD GRINDING SOUND AND A LOT OF VIBRATION IN THE PEDAL. I HAD THE BRAKES DOWN AS HARD AS I COULD. THE BRAKES DID WORK A LITTLE BUT NOTHING LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE. THERE WAS ONLY A VERY SMALL LIGHT IN COLOR SKID MARK. I LET THE OFFICER KNOW AFTER THE CRASH. AFTER LOOKING INTO IT I DISCOVERED THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. I WAS NOT INJURED BUT PEOPLE IN THE OTHER CAR WERE.

SO I I WENT TO FIRESTONE THEY SAID I NEED TO CHANGE MASTER CYLINDER FLASH THE BRAKE FLUID ROTORS N PADS ALL WAY AROUND WHICH COST ME ALMOST 1500$ . ONCE THEY DID THOSE SERVICES AFTER COUPLE OF MONTHS SAME PROBLEM OCCURRING AGAIN. NOW FIRESTONE SAID IT'S ABS PROBABLY. I LOOKED ONLINE LOTS OF HAD SAME THIS UNKNOWN PROBLEM N IT'S DANGEROUS.. IT GETS SCARY WHEN TRAFFIC SUDDENLY STOPS AND THAT HAPPENS. NISSAN SHOULD REALLY MAKE A RECALL ON THIS.

NISSAN ARMADA (AND TITAN WHICH IS IDENTICAL MECHANICALLY) HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH IT'S FRONT BRAKES BEING UNDERSIZED IN THE EARLY MODELS OF SAID VEHICLES (MODEL YEARS 2004-2006). THIS CAN EASILY BE CONFIRMED BY NISSAN'S THREE CHANGES THEY HAVE MADE TO THE FRONT BRAKES OF THESE VEHICLES EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLES HAVE ESSENTIALLY REMAINED UNCHANGED FROM YEARS 2004 RIGHT UP THOUGH THE CURRENT MODEL YEAR 2015. THEY FIRST CHANGED THE ROTOR THICKNESS, THEN THE ROTOR DIAMETER (320MM TO 350MM) AND THE CALIPERS/TORQUE MEMBERS/BRAKE HOSES, THEN FINALLY THEY CHANGED THE INNER HUB DIAMETER OF THE ROTOR DUE TO AN INCREASE IN THE HUB/BEARING SIZE (82MM TO 90MM). NISSAN HAD ISSUED AT LEAST ONE TSB ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY NEVER ISSUED A RECALL WHICH IS WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE. THE CORE ISSUE IS THAT THESE RATHER LARGE FULL SIZE SUV'S AND PICKUP TRUCKS WERE DESIGNED INITIALLY WITH FRONT BRAKES THAT WERE SEVERELY UNDERSIZED FOR THE WEIGHT/SIZE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS LED TO THE VEHICLES ROTORS EASILY OVERHEATING AND GLAZING THE BRAKE PADS WHICH THEN LED TO HOT SPOTTED, WARPED, OR OTHERWISE RUINED FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. YESTERDAY I LEFT THE PARKING LOT AFTER WORK AND AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW MINUTES I NOTICED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS IN THE UP POSITION AND THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH LIGHTS COMING ON EVEN IF NOTHING IS WRONG (TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT). AT THE TIME I WAS TRAVELING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED DUE TO FIVE O'CLOCK TRAFFIC. SO AFTER GETTING ONTO THE FREEWAY THE SPEED INCREASED THEN I NOTICED WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUDDER/SHAKE AND THE BRAKES DIDN'T SEEM TO BE WORKING AS THEY SHOULD. I SAW NOTHING COMING FROM UNDER THE CAR. I STOPPED THE CAR IN ORDER TO DO THIS. WELL ONCE I GOT BACK IN AND STARTED THE VEHICLE THE LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE BRAKES WERE WORKING AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. BRAKE JUTTER, GRINDING, SHAKING WHEN BRAKING. ABS VDL SLIP BRAKE LIGHTS UP ON DASH--UNABLE TO TURN OFF. STOPPING VEHICLE AND RESTARTING CORRECTS THE PROBLEM SOMETIMES; OTHER TIMES THE LIGHT STAYS ON. BRAKE PADS ORIGINALLY REPLACED EARLY AFTER PURCHASE IN 2005 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE IS RARELY DRIVEN--THERE IS APPROXIMATELY 36K MILES ON THE VEHICLE--BUT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN PERSISTENT OVER THE YEARS WHEN DRIVEN. LATELY, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE MORE OFTEN AND THE PROBLEM IS CONTINUING AND IT IS MORE APPARENT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE BRAKES. I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE LIFT GATE AS IT RECENTLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING WHEN PRESSING THE KEY FOB OR EITHER OF THE SWITCHES INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I BEGAN OPENING AND CLOSING THE LIFT GATE MANUALLY AND NOW IT WILL NOT CLOSE SECURELY, I.E., IT IS NOT GETTING THAT FINAL SEAL WHEN CLOSED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW NO LONGER GOES UP OR DOWN AND DOES NOT WORK WHEN USING THE DRIVER'S OR PASSENGER SWITCH. FINALLY, THE DRIVER'S SEAT DOES NOT RESET TO THE POSITION PROGRAMMED WHEN THE ENGINE STARTS AND TURNS OFF. I DECIDED TO RESEARCH THE INTERNET TODAY AND WAS QUITE SURPRISED TO SEE THAT THERE ARE SO MANY OTHERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2004 AMADA. CALLED A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TODAY AND THEY WERE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. 2004 NISSAN ARMADA BRAKE ISSUE. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE BRAKES START GRINDING AND ITS HARD TO STOP, EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON. ONCE I AM ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL OVER, I THEN RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKES GO BACK TO PERFORMING NORMALLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THIS MOST RECENT TIME HAPPENED WHILE TOWING A 6500 LB LOAD. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF US. I HAVE DONE QUITE A BIT OF RESEARCH ON THE ARMADA AND TITAN FORUMS AND THEY REFERENCE NTP06-040 AS WELL AS A RATHER EXPENSIVE BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACEMENT AT CLOSE TO $1000. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE RATHER PREVALENT WITH THE ARMADA MODEL. I HAVE A 2004 ARMADA I BOUGHT NEW IN 2005. 08/2011 WAS THE FIRST TIME MY ABS VDL SLIP LIGHTS CAME ON AS I WAS BRAKING, ALONG WITH A HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE WITH MY BRAKES. I WAS GOING ABOUT 20 MPH AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP. MY BRAKING WAS IMPAIRED, AND IF I TOUCHED THE BRAKES ANYMORE, MY FOOT WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR. NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO, AFTER TRYING THE BRAKE SEVERAL TIMES (WHICH WAS MORE GRINDING NOISES) I SHUT THE CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES UNTIL 10/2012 WHEN THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS TIME I WAS GOING 40 MPH ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. I REPORTED IT TO MY NISSAN DEALER. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO DRIVE IT IN WHEN THIS WAS HAPPENING. THEN 04/24/13 & 04/30/13 THE PROBLEM RECURRED. ON 04/24/13, I WAS DRIVING 40 MPH AT THE TIME THAT I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE. ON 04/30/13, I WAS RIGHT BY AN AUTO ZONE WHEN IT HAPPENED. THEY READ THE CODE WHILE LIGHTS WERE ON, AND SAID THE CODE WAS 1179. AGAIN, THE SAME LIGHTS WERE ON, AND AGAIN, THEY TURNED OFF AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR. I CALLED NISSAN SERVICE WHO TOLD ME AGAIN THAT THEY NEED TO READ THE CODE WITH LIGHTS ON. THEY STATED 1179 "MEANT NOTHING TO THEM" BECAUSE IT WASN'T DONE AT A NISSAN DEALER. I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WHO SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING OF THIS PROBLEM. 08/18/13 RECURRENCE OF SAME ISSUE WHILE DRIVING DOWNTOWN CHICAGO IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. BROUGHT IT IN WITH NO LIGHTS ON TO NISSAN SERVICE (WHO HAVE SAID I NEED THE LIGHTS ON TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG). JUST RECENTLY I HAVE HAD 2 INCIDENTS WHERE RANDOMLY THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. IT MAKES ME WONDER IF THESE COMPONENTS SHOULD OF BEEN REPLACED WHEN THE BRAKES WHERE REPLACED BY NISSAN UNDER RECALL BECAUSE OF INADEQUATE SIZED ROTORS. CAR INVOLVED IS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. I WAS PULLING UP IN FRONT OF MY SON'S FRIEND'S HOUSE TO DROP HIM OFF. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON AGAIN THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED THERE WAS NO PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP. THE PEDAL SHAKES HARSHLY AND A GRINDING NOISE CAN BE HEARD. I HAVE CHANGED BRAKE DISCS AND PADS AND TOPPED THE FLUID OFF THINKING MAYBE A DIFFERENCE IN PRESSURE WAS CAUSED BY THE FLUID OR THE AMOUNT OF MATERIAL THAT WAS LEFT ON THE BRAKING SURFACES; THIS IS NOT THE CASE. NUMEROUS POSTS ON THE INTERNET HAVE POINTED THIS EXACT FAILURE OUT AND A FEW OWNERS HAVE BEEN IN ACCIDENTS ACCORDING TO THE POSTS ON ARMADA SPECIFIC WEBSITES. NISSAN HAS ALWAYS HAD ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES ON THIS MODEL. THE FIRST ISSUE WAS WITH THE FRONT ROTORS BEING TOO SMALL FOR THE SIZE OF THE VEHICLE, CAUSING PREMATURE WARPING DUE TO HEAT. I HAD THIS FIXED A FEW TIMES AT THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS HAVING TO REPLACE THEM MYSELF A FEW TIMES. THIS WAS A DESIGN FLAW ON NISSAN'S PART. APPLIED BRAKES , BRAKE LIGHT WENT ON ABS STOPPED WORKING, BRAKES GROAN. THEY WORK AT 10 %. PLEASE SEE YOUTUBE ENTER ARMADA BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM. THERE ARE 100'S OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER. ONCE YOU SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT THE ABS RESETS UNTIL THE NEXT OCCURRENCE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD DEPRESS TO THE FLOOR WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD ALSO ACTIVATE WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WOULD TEMPORARILY RESOLVE THE FAILURE BY SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. PULLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY, PUT IT IN FORWARD GEAR, HEARD A METAL CLICKING NOISE. WENT MAYBE 30 YARDS TO THE NO OUTLET STOP SIGN OF OUR ROAD AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASH, PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP AT THE STOP SIGN AND THE BRAKES STARTED TO SURGE. I DID STOP WAY BEFORE THE SIGN BUT WAS SCARY. STOPPED AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND LOOKED AT IT. STARTED UP AND LIGHT WENT OFF. DROVE 5 BLOCKS AND COMING TO A STREET LIGHT AT A BUSY STATE ROAD AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, BRAKES STARTED SURGING ON THE DECLINE OF THE ROAD AND I FINALLY CAME TO A STOP MAYBE 5 FEET BEFORE GOING OUT INTO THE BUSY INTERSECTION OF THE STREET LIGHT. I HAVE READ MANY 2004/2005'S HAVING THIS ISSUE ONCE I DID SOME RESEARCH BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE FOR A RECALL EXCEPT CLASSIFICATION BR06-007 & REFERENCE NTB06-040. ON JUNE 6, 2012, WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP AND THE PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR, THERE WAS LITTLE OR NO RESISTANCE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND I HEARD CRUNCHING, METAL ON METAL SOUND. ALSO, THE VDC OFF, SLIP AND ABS LIGHTS WERE ON. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND ON TO RESET IT, AND IT WORKED, HOWEVER, I BEGAN TO TRAVEL A FEW MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WENT TO A LOCAL SERVICE STATION AND CODE C1179 DELTA STROKE SENSOR POPPED UP. THE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE TRUCK AND IT RAN WELL WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE TRUCK WAS FINE UNTIL JUNE 13, 2012, WHILE LEAVING THE SUPERMARKET IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS TRAVELING NO MORE THAN 10 MPH AND THE BRAKES FAILED. I TRIED TO RESET IT AS I DID BEFORE, HOWEVER THIS TIME IT DIDN'T WORK. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER FOR IT TO RESET. ONCE IT WAS RESET, I BEGAN TO DRIVE HOME AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SO AGAIN, I PULLED OVER TO RESET IT AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT WORKED. THIS ISSUE IS VERY UNSETTLING DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN. THIS IS MY ONLY METHOD OF TRANSPORTATION AND I NEED THIS RESOLVED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.*JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE PEDAL DROPPED TO THE FLOOR BOARD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKES PERFORMED AS NORMAL ONCE HE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ABOUT SIX DIFFERENT TIMES FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER SENSOR, THE ROTORS, AND THE BATTERY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. BRAKE FLUID WAS ALSO ADDED TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.

AS I WAS DRIVING THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND A VERY LOUD NOISE CAME ON WITH IT. MY TRUCK BEGAN TO LOCK UP AND SLOW DOWN. AFTER TRYING TO STEP ON THE BRAKES TO GET IT TO STOP SEVERAL TIMES, IT FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. I WAS TERRIFIED BECAUSE I DIDN'T THINK THE TRUCK WOULD STOP AND I ALMOST RAN INTO THE BACK OF SOMEONE. AFTER GETTING THE BRAKES TO WORK, I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I SAT THERE IN TRAFFIC WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND WAITED FOR ABOUT A MINUTE. I STARTED MY TRUCK BACK UP AND PUT IT INTO DRIVE. I DROVE A FEW FEET AND THE ENTIRE ORDEAL STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS TIME AFTER GETTING IT TO STOP. I PUT IT IN PARK AND SAT IN TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT 3-5 MINUTES WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON. AFTER I STARTED IT UP AGAIN, THE TRUCK DROVE FINE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, AND I'VE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS, BUT NATURALLY THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. I REPORTED IT TO NISSAN AND EACH TIME I TOOK IT TO THEM FOR SERVICE, THEY NEVER FOUND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I EVEN WENT ON A DASHBOARD ON LINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WAS EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY HAVE. SOME SAY IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER, BUT AFTER THEY GOT IT CHANGED THEY STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM SINCE I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK AND WHEN IT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME, I WAS TOLD THAT SOMETIMES IT TAKES A LITTLE LONGER FOR THE COMPUTER TO REGISTER THAT THE HAND BRAKES ARE OFF. I WAS TOLD THIS BY NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THIS NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE IT TRULY IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE AS THE YEARS GO BY. SOMETHING IS WRONG AND IT'S SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. IT ONLY HAPPENS AT CERTAIN TIMES AND I HAVE HAD MY BRAKES INSPECTED, CHANGED, AND ALL OF THE ABOVE. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED CAR THE BRAKES WENT OUT AT 3000 MILES AND I'VE CONTINUED TO HAVE A PROBLEM EVER SINCE.NISSAN FIXED THE BRAKE JUDDER BUT ANOTHER ISSUE AROSE.NOW WHENEVER IT WANTS THE BRAKES JUST GO OUT.I'VE HAD THE CAR IN THE SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM.I HAVE TO SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTART AS IF SOME ELECTRICAL COMPONENT IS RESETTING.THIS HAS NEVER BEEN FIXED AND NOW I'M OUT OF WARRANTY.NISSAN CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM OR JUST DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE THE TIME TO FIX.THIS IS LEADING TO A VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE BECAUSE THERE IS NO TELLING WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. *JS
