Earlier in the year the brake light (some times with slip and ABS) came on the dash and suddenly braking was diminished. There was a horrid grinding sound plus vibration under the pedal. I was on highway 17 (a dangerous mountain freeway in CA) going downhill and it was extremely scary as has a car full of friends kids and hardly any brakes. I braked as much as it would allow, down shifted and pulled to the side (which again if you google that highway people die all the time from idiot drivers/speeders/tight corners). I instinctively turned off the car and got out to check off something had gotten caught in my wheel but nothing. I turned the car on and the problem had gone so drove to the nearest garage but he couldn't find anything wrong. I called Nissan but they said they knew of no problems with breaking systems on the Armada and said to bring it in and pay for an expensive diagnosis. When I got home I googled it and found 100s of similar experiences with all sorts of repairs at Nissan that hadn't worked. Some say brake booster, others sensor, other reset or upgrade hardware. Not one actually fix so far but I did find a couple of lawsuits for the same reason so don't understand how this is not a recall. The second time I was in town so it wasn't too bad but hard to stop at the crossing for a pedestrian and today it went again going back up the mountain but luckily don't need to brake much going in that direction. If it can't be fixed and it involves brakes then surely this is a serious safety violation. I also noticed that others are having a similar problem with newer Armadas with a newly upgraded braking system from Nissan and another lawsuit is on file. How is this being ignored? My car is 20 and I was looking into another Nissan but if they don't stand by and honor their mistakes then I really have no faith in them

Once in awhile when the brakes are applied there is a loud sound that sounds like ache large can being crushed, and the brakes don't work properly. The car sort of lurches to a stop rather than coming to a smooth stop. If the engine is shut off and turned back on nine times out of 10 the brakes will begin to work again but occasionally it takes a few times of restarting the vehicle. I contacted Nissan and they said that they would contact me back and they had a lawyer call me who really just wanted to interrogate me more than offer any kind of solutions or answers. I was able to look up online and see that there is or was a class action lawsuit and that it's a known problem with many Nissan armadas being the master solenoid. This seems to be a continuing safety issue and if someone were to have to come to a quick stop there's no warning that this is going to happen beforehand and would negate any kind of safety stop. This has been going on for many years and is extremely expensive to fix. Which puts it right out for most families to be able to afford fixing this and just having to lope along hoping that it isn't one of those times when the brakes are going to give out in an emergency. Given that Nissan contacted me with a lawyer shows me that they are afraid of what could happen but not yet concerned enough that enough people have died for it to be worth their while cost-wise.

Brakes. Went out with no warning For second time

While driving the brake light came on and when I attempted to stop pedal goes almost to the floor and loud grinding noise is heard. I was able to barely stop the vehicle, I then shut off the vehicle, checked around the vehicle as well as engine compartment not finding any noticeable issue. Restarted the vehicle and brake light was off able to stop with no issue and no grinding noise was heard. Mentioned this to dealer when it was brought in for oil change and they indicated that there was no notice of a recall for this issue. They checked the vehicle and could not find any issues. This has happened several more times where brake light goes on, issue with trying to stop and loud grinding noise. The remedy seems to be to get the vehicle stopped, barely, shut off the vehicle, wait for a short moment and then restart the vehicle. This is very concerning if this happens when needing to make an immediate stop as it takes a bit to get the vehicle to stop when this occurs. Nothing in particular is being done while driving to cause this to happen and I have not been able to replicate.

Several times when driving, my brake light will come on and when pressing the brake, it does not engage. When you press on the pedal you hear a loud grinding sound. It does not slow down the vehicle at all and the grinding is loud and seems to be damaging internal parts. When you turn the engine off, and restart it the problem goes away. I have read so many similar issues with 2006 nissan armada about the brake light. How is this not a safety recall especially when I’m on the freeway driving 65 MPH and all of a sudden brake light comes on! I have to pull over safely and hard to do especially when the brake does not engage at all when the light is on. This is a huge safety concern for me due to the fact that I never know when this is going to happen again. What if it happens while I need to come to a quick emergency stop?! This is a major safety concern that needs to be looked into!!

I was driving on the road and my brake light came on and my brakes failed. As I tried to stop my brakes made a grinding spring noise. I turned the car off and after about 3 minutes I restarted and everything was fine. I continue to drive and less than 10 minutes later it did it again. I have went online to look for information and I see that there was a lawsuit about the booster Delta sensor. I called Nissan and they denied this, and I went to the Nissan dealership and they will check it out because they have not seen any recalls on my vehicle for this problem yet online there's a whole lot of customer complaints about this model doing the exact same thing. The airbag light has been on for a while indicating that there is a defect in the airbags . The brakes light comes on randomly and the car brakes on its own without me applying the brakes and that is very dangerous especially on the highway and the transmission light comes on showing the 4x4 light as on for no reason and I would have it on just the 2 wheels

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Armada. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the brakes warning light illuminated. The brake pedal was depressed and made an abnormal metal-on-metal sound. The contact slowed down, veered to the side of the road, and restarted the vehicle however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic retrieved a delta stroke error code however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 230,815.

I WAS TRAVELING AT LOW SPEED AND STEP ON THE BRAKES AND HEAR A TERRIBLE GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE BRAKES IN ADDITION TO A SPRING LIKE SOUND AND A SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN BRAKING POWER. THE BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON. THIS CONTINUES UNTIL I PULL OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND THEN START IT BACK UP AND THE BRAKES WORK FINE. THE NEXT DAY, WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY...BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, LITTLE OR NO BRAKING POWER AND A SHUDDER IN THE BREAKS. AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN AS I PULL UP TO THE DRIVEWAY TO PARK MY ARMADA. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I REALLY HOPE THAT NISSAN WILL TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE.

THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH FORCE UNTIL THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED. THE CONTACT VEERED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. ONCE IT WAS RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. BANISTER NISSAN OF CHESAPEAKE (930 N BATTLEFIELD BLVD, CHESAPEAKE, VA 23320, (757) 214-6342) WAS CONTACTED TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. SO, I PULLED OVER AND CAR MY TRUCK OFF AND ON AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GO AWAY. I PROCEEDED ON MY WAY AND THEY WENT OUT AGAIN AND I ALMOST REAR ENDED A 18-WHEELER WITH MY TWO BABIES IN THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY RAN UP ON A CURB TO NOT HIT THE SEMI. AND, IMMEDIATELY WENT TO A BRAKES SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS MY BRAKE BOOSTER KIT THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE ABS SYSTEM. THAT WAS RECALLED AND SINCE I DIDN'T FIND OUT TIL LATER AND DIDN'T HAVE PROBLEMS TIL LATER ON I GOT SCREWED AND HAD TO PAY OVER $1300.00 DOLLARS TO FIX IT. MY HUSBAND PURCHASED AN 06 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE HE WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY HE WENT TO SLOW DOWN AND THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND MADE A WEIRD GRINDING NOISE. HE PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. WAS WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. AFTER HE RESTARTED IT, IT DROVE FINE. TOOK IT TO NISSAN THEMSELVES AND THEY FOUND NOTHING BUT RECOMMENDED A BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES TO US. AGAIN JUST RECENTLY, I WAS WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO RUN THROUGH A RED LIGHT BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO STOP.THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON BUT THE BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED. THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AS IF I NEEDED ROTORS. I LET THE VEHICLE SLOW DOWN AND I PULLED OVER IN A SAFE AREA AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER RESTARTING IT AFTER 5 MINS THE VEHICLE DROVE FINE. I HAD MY FATHER HOOK HIS CODE READER UP AND WE CAME UP WITH A CODE C1179 WHICH IS A DELTA STROKE SENSOR. RESEARCHED THE CODE AND FOUND THAT NISSAN HAD MULTIPLE LAWSUITS FOR THIS ISSUE BUT NEVER ISSUED A RECALL FOR IT. I CONTACTED NISSAN THEMSELVES ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THE GENTLEMAN THAT I SPOKE TO AT NISSAN TOLD ME THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT BUILT IN A CERTAIN FACTORY THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE AND THAT HIS SUGGESTION WAS THAT IF I HAD A GOOD REPOIRE WITH THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP CLOSE TO ME THEY MAY BE ABLE TO HELP ME WITH THE COST. THE LAWSUIT NEVER SPECIFIED A CERTAIN FACTORY THE VEHICLES CAME OUT OF. IT STATED 2004-2008 NISSAN TITAN AND ARMADA OR INFINITY QX56. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, HAS BEEN SUED NOT ONCE BUT MULTIPLE TIMES AND IS STILL REFUSING TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUE.

ISSUE WITH ABS ENGAGING AT INAPPROPRIATE TIMES AT LOW SPEEDS CREATING AN INABILITY TO BRAKE. MY WIFE DROVE THROUGH A STOP SIGN WITH ALL 4 OF MY KIDS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AND LUCKED OUT. IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY. AT A SPEED OF ONLY 4 MILES PER HOUR, I NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, I DROVE THROUGH THE GREEN LIGHT, ONLY ACCELERATING ENOUGH TO GET TO A SIDE ROAD. WHEN I TRIED TO BRAKE, THERE WAS A CRUNCHING/GRINDING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AFTER THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED TO MY WIFE, I REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER (HELL OF A JOB) AND I INSTALLED NEW ROTORS AND PADS ALL THE WAY AROUND AS THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS TOLD TO BE THE ISSUE AFTER NISSAN WAS SUED FOR THE PROBLEM AS IT GREW. IT STILL NEVER BECAME A TSB AND I HAVE A HALF TON DEATH TRAP IN MY DRIVEWAY.

INTERMITTENTLY, AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THIS CAUSES GREATLY DIMINISHED BRAKING POWER (IT FEELS LIKE A VACUUM HAS RELEASED AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP). THE ONLY WAY TO RECTIFY THIS IS TO STOP AND TURN THE CAR OFF COMPLETELY AND THEN RESTART IT. THIS IS OK ON CITY STREETS BUT IS VERY SCARY ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE HAD A NISSAN DEALER LOOK AT IT MULTIPLE TIMES BUT SINCE THE CAR CHECKS OUT MECHANICALLY AND THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE SITUATION, THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY THIS HAPPENS.

WHEN TRYING TO STOP THE ABS BRAKES ENGAGE AND THE CAR IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE LOOKED AT AND DIFFERENT PARTS CHANGED BUT THE PROBLEM KEEPS COMING BACK. I HAD THE BRAKES CHANGED, BRAKE BOOSTER AND CLOCK SPRING CHANGED. THE VDC AND SLIP LIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY COME ON AND THE ABS ENGAGES WHILE DRIVING. ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK THE OTHER DAY BUT I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER AROUND VEHICLES AND THEN STOP. THIS ALSO HAPPENED BACK IN 2011 WITH THIS SAME VEHICLE WE HAD THE BRAKE BOOSTER CHANGED AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY UNTIL NOW. THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS EVALUATED AND SCANNED AND CHECKED OUT OK. LAST TIME IT COST $1,000 DOLLARS TO FIX IT, BUT IS NOW A PROBLEM AGAIN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.

TURNED THE TRUCK OFF THEN BACK ON AND NOW IS WORKING COMPLETELY NORMAL AGAIN. AFTER DOING RESEARCH THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THE NISSAN ARMADAS AND TITANS. I WAS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WHEN A GRINDING/SPRINGY SOUND CAME OUT FROM UNDER AND THE :BRAKE" LIGHT CAME ON. OWN A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA LE. STARTED MY TRUCK AND THE BRAKE, VDC, SLIP, AND 4WD LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD. THOUGHT IT APPEARED BECAUSE IT WAS GETTING COLD. DROVE A COUPLE OF BLOCKS DOWN A CITY A STREET AND HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE PRESSED AND THE TRUCK JOLTED A LITTLE BIT. AFTER ANOTHER BLOCK, LIGHTS WENT AWAY AND DIDN'T HAVE MORE ANY ISSUES ON THE WAY HOME. WHEN I GOT HOME, TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTARTED THE TRUCK, NO LIGHTS. DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND READ MANY ISSUES RELATING TO THIS. A COUPLE A DAYS LATER CHECKED THE TRUCK, ON START-UP...NO LIGHTS, THEN WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE, THE SAME LIGHTS LIT UP. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, LIGHTS WERE LIT, BRAKES ENGAGED, AND SPEEDOMETER WAS FLUCTUATING AND THEN DIDN'T MOVE. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP, SPEEDOMETER ACTIVATED AGAIN WHEN THE TRUCK WAS PUT IN PARK. NISSAN DEALERSHIP DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THE ADVISOR INDICATED BOTH THE ECM AND ABS ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WERE FRIED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, $3,100 TO START OUT WITH. TRUCK IS STILL AT THE SHOP, NO WORK HAS STARTED. NOTIFIED NISSAN CUSTOMER RELATIONS SINCE THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE, WAITING TO HEAR BACK. ALSO CALLED ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD TELL ME AND IT WAS MENTIONED THAT THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE. CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT. BACK THE NEXT DAY AND TALKED TO ANOTHER ADVISOR, THE ADVISOR INDICATED SINCE THERE ARE SOME ARE HARD CODES (U1000, U1001) DISPLAYED WITH THE ECM AND ABS ASSEMBLY, THE SYSTEMS POTENTIALLY NEED TO BE REPLACED.

THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5-6 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED THE CAR AFTER BUYING FROM A PRIVATE PARTY. I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES INSPECTED RELIGIOUSLY AND A CAUSE HAS NEVER BEEN FOUND. DESPITE ALL OF THE REPORTS I HAD READ, THE REP SAID THERE WERE NO RECORDS OF THIS TYPE OF ISSUE. I OPENED A CASE WITH NISSAN,AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER COULD FIND PROBLEM DUE TO NO CODES AVAILABLE I'M NOT SURE THAT THIS WILL CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IF THIS DOESN'T SOLVE IT THE NEXT SET OF DIAGNOSTICS A PIN TEST WILL COST ME $440. PAID TOW BILL, PAID DEALER TO: REPLACE BRAKE BOOSTER, WHEEL SENSORS, BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND TWO TIMES FOR LABOR RATE TO TRY AND DIAGNOSE ISSUE. ON APPROXIMATELY SEPTEMBER 24, 2013 I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY STREET HEADING TO THE STORE. WHEN APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT, I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WENT ON AND I HAD SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING POWER, WITH A GRINDING NOISE, LOOSE BRAKING MOTION. THE BRAKE PEDAL ACTUALLY WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR PANEL. I WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH I HAD APPROXIMATELY 70-80% REDUCED BRAKING POWER. IMAGINE HOW SCARY IT WAS TO TRY AND STOP A 6,000LBS VEHICLE WITH ONLY 20% OF YOUR NORMAL BRAKING POWER. I CAME WITHIN INCHES OF HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND PROBLEM WAS GONE WHEN I RESTARTED. I TOOK IT IN TO MY MECHANIC, WHO ATTEMPTED TO SEE THE PROBLEM FOR HIMSELF. HOWEVER, IT DID NOT REPEAT THE SAME SYMPTOMS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER STATED THE STEERING SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND CAUSE THE VDC LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER RESET THE STEERING SENSOR. THE VDC FAILURE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED ALL THREE DEFECTS COULD HAVE CAUSED THE VDC LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. I RAN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF US SINCE THERE WAS WAY TO TURN WITH SCHOOL KIDS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR. WE GOT OUT AND DETERMINED THE SUV I HIT WAS NOT DAMAGED AND WE SETTLED THE ACCIDENT WITH A LUNCH SINCE WE WERE FRIENDS. MY FRONT BUMPER WAS SCRAPED COSMETICALLY SINCE THE OTHER VEHICLE HAD A TRAILER HITCH. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR, I COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE PERSONALLY HAD THIS EXPERIENCE ABOUT 5 TIMES IN RANDOM SPEEDS UP TO 40 MPH APPROACHING LIGHTS. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD TO FIND A WAY TO NOT HARM PEOPLE OR CRASH. I'VE EVEN DRIVEN OVER CURBS INTO SIDEWALKS AVOIDING PEOPLE. MY WIFE HAS HAD THIS EXPERIENCE MORE THAN MYSELF. IT'S AN AMAZING FLAW IN THE VEHICLE THAT I'VE FOUND NO ANSWER TO ONLINE OR AT THE 6 TO 8 DEALERS I'VE ASKED. I WAS COMING UP TO A STOP LIGHT AND WENT TO USE THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL HESITATED AND WOULD NOT GRAB NORMAL LIKE THEY USUALLY DO. THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS NOW ON, SO I DECIDED TO PULL OVER IN A PARKING LOT AND TRY AND LOOK TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND OPENED THE HOOD TO MAKE SURE I HAD FLUID AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING OBVIOUS. EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS NOT ON ANYMORE AND THE BRAKES WERE WORKING. A FEW MONTHS WENT BY AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAS STARTED TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY. IN THE PAST WEEK IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME ON THE FREEWAY, I NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHT TURN ON. THEN WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL IT MADE AN AWFUL GRINDING NOISE BOTH WHILE BEING PRESSED AND WHILE LETTING OFF OF THE BRAKE. THE BRAKES WERE VERY SLOW TO WORK. I PULLED OVER CHECKED THE E-BRAKE TO BE SURE IT WAS OFF AND STILL THE SAME THING HAPPENED. WHEN I GOT TO WORK I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND HAD A CO-WORKER CHECK MY BRAKE FLUID WHICH WAS FINE. UPON TURNING ON THE CAR IT DID NOT SHOW THE SAME SIGNS, IT "RE-SET" THE BRAKE LIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE MORE SINCE THEN, ONCE ON A BUSY STREET, WHILE AT THE REDLIGHT I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND AGAIN, ALL BETTER. THEN AGAIN YESTERDAY ON THE FREEWAY. I PULLED ALL THE WAY OVER TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AGAIN AND YET AGAIN ALL BETTER. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. LUCKILY MY KIDS WERE NOT IN THE CAR AND I NOTICE THE BRAKE LIGHT COME ON SO I CAN SLOW BY LETTING OFF THE GAS THEN ONCE SLOW ENOUGH USE THE GRINDING BRAKES TO PULL OVER. TURNING IGNITION OFF/ON RESOLVES FOR SHORT TIME, BUT NOT A PERMANENT FIX. NISSAN HAS TSB NTB06-040, BUT THEY WANT TO CHARGE FOR REPROGRAMMING THE VDC CONTROL UNIT. *TR

MY WIFE HAS EXPERIENCED OUR NISSAN 06 ARMADA LOSING BRAKING POWER. IT FIRST STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND SHE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A BRAKE ISSUE. HAVE HAD IT TO A BRAKE SHOP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND HAVE FOUND NOTHING WRONG. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE THIS WEEK. I THEN WENT ON A NISSAN FORUM AND OTHER INTERNET SITES TO SEE THAT HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH NISSAN ARMADA BRAKE/ABS ISSUES. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN FOR US AS AN OWNER AND SHOULD BE TO ANYONE READING THIS POST. THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE BRAKING AND IT COMES OUT OF NOW WHERE..I WAS ON A FLAT SURFACE HEADING TO A RED LIGHT... THE ABS KICKED IN AND THE BRAKING POWER WENT TO ABOUT 30 %. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ONLY ENGAGED ABOUT 1/3 OF THE DISTANCE AND GRINDING STARTED AND CONTINUE TILL I CAME TO A STOP I HAD TO MANUALLY SHIFT DOWN IN ORDER TO STOP AT THE RED LIGHT. I SET MY FLASHERS,TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND GOT OUT.. DIDN'T SEE OR SENSE ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY OTHER THAN I HAD VERY LITTLE BRAKING POWER AND BRAKES WERE GRINDING..TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE BRAKES WORKED FINE. I KNOW THE PADS AND ROTORS ARE GOOD, JUST HAD THEM CHECKED ON MY STATE INSPECTION. THIS IS ALARMING BECAUSE THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND SHE DRIVERS OUR KIDS AROUND IN IT... I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES ON MY 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. PURCHASED 2006 ARMADA LESS THAN 20 DAYS AGO,. SINCE THE 2ND WEEK THE BRAKES WILL MAKE A SCARY NOISE (CAN'T REALLY DESCRIBE IT - GRINDING), THE BRAKES WORK AT ABOUT 10% AND THE BRAKE LIGHT GOES ON. AS I AM DRIVING MY 2006 NISSAN ARMADA, MY BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATES ON MY DASHBOARD AND I LOOSE BRAKING POWER. CLUNKING/SPRINGING NOISES SIMULTANEOUSLY BEGIN. IT BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND ON, THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARS. THERE IS NO COMMON FACTOR AS TO WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS. RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE WAS REPROGRAMMED - A REPAIR NISSAN INDICATED WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKE EXHIBITED AN ABNORMAL GRINDING NOISE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM RESET TO NORMAL WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF FOR A MOMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER SYSTEM HOWEVER THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD AN ENGINEER TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE, WHO WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER CHECKED THE TIRE PRESSURE, ADJUSTED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL, SERVICED THE ROTORS AND BLED THE BRAKES BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND AFTER DOWN SHIFTING AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR YEARS LATER . THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,000.

I BOUGHT THIS 2006 NISSAN ARMADA BRAND NEW. I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY. THE BRAKE LIGHT GOES ON AND A GRIDING NOISE COMES OUT WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES. I TOOK IT THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID IT SOFWARE ISSUE WHEN IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY UPGRADED THE SOFTWARE AND IT WORKED FOR COUPLE OF YEARS THEN AGAIN AND AGAIN, I SPEND ABOUT $160 EACH TIME TO CORRECT THE SOFTWARE NOW. THIS TIME THEY SAID IT NEEDS SOME PARTS AND SOFTWHERE UPGRADE ABOUT $750, SO I PARKED THE CAR AND I'M LOOKING FOR OTHER ALTERNATIVES. ANY ONE KNOW OF A RECALL RELATED TO THIS ISSUE. *JS
