2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FUEL SENDING UNIT PROBLEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT SHOULD BE REPLACED BY NISSAN, REGARDLESS OF WHAT MONTH THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED. THE CONSUMER STATED IT WAS OBVIOUS THE SAME PART WAS USED ON VEHICLES THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NOT READ FULL. *JB
RECEIVED WARRANTY EXTENSION LETTER FROM NISSAN ON MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER REGARDING AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WHICH HAS CAUSED MY FUEL GAUGE TO INACCURATELY DISPLAY THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN MY VEHICLE. LIKE ALL OTHER OWNERS MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED! WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IT ALREADY HAD AROUND 70,000 MILES AND THAT WAS IN 2007. I JUST RECIEVED THE NOTICE FROM NISSAN WITHIN THE LAST MONTH OF 2010. THE NTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER AND DEMAND A NATIONWIDE RECALL ON THIS ITEM FROM NISSAN. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE FOR NISSAN OWNERS AND OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PART! IT IS PRETTY CLEAR THAT NISSAN REALIZED THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND DECIDED THE LEAST COSTLY RESPONSE WOULD BE TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE, KNOWING FULLY WELL THAT MOST OWNERS WOULD NOT QUALIFY FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PROTECTION. I URGE ALL OWNERS OF THIS MODEL NISSAN TO FIRST AND FOREMOST FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NTSA AND ALSO CALL YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES AND SEE IF THEY WILL INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER. IN ADDITION I URGE ALL OWNERS OF NISSAN AUTOMOBILES TO REFUSE TO BUY ANY ADDITIONAL VEHICLES FROM NISSAN. IN ADDITION PLEASE LET YOUR FRIENDS KNOW THAT WHILE NISSAN TALKS A GOOD GAME, THE BOTTOM LINE IS THEY DON'T BACK THEIR PRODUCT!!!! AT THIS POINT NISSAN REFUSED TO REPLACE ITEM FREE OF COST AND I HAVE NOT HAD THE ITEM REPLACED YET DUE TO THE COST INVOLVED. NISSAN REFUSED TO FIX ITEM UNDER WARRANTY, STATING MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY! THIS IS ABSURED AND THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD STEP IN AND HELP CONSUMERS WITH THIS MATTER. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD CONTINUOUSLY DISPLAY INACCURATE FUEL LEVELS. THE GAUGE WOULD NOT MOVE FROM EMPTY DESPITE THE LEVEL OF GASOLINE IN THE FUEL TANK. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE EXPENSE OF THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,960.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD DISPLAY INACCURATE FUEL LEVELS. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILED. THERE WAS NOT A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,000.

THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT A FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CAUSED THE FUEL GAUGE TO DISPLAY THE INCORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD BECOME STUCK AT A QUARTER OF A TANK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE FILLED THE TANK, THE FUEL LEVER WOULD NOT MOVE BEYOND THE QUARTER MARK. THEREFORE HE MIGHT RUN OUT OF FUEL BECAUSE OF THE INCORRECT INDICATION ON THE FUEL GAUGE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.

THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CAME UP PO463 "FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILURE". TOLD BY DEALER THAT IT WAS A 650 TO 900 DOLLAR REPAIR AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AT THIS TIME. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 55 MPH, THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR FAILED AND WOULD NOT READ FUEL LEVELS. IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WOULD RESET HIS ODOMETER AT EVERY FILL-UP TO PREVENT RUNNING OUT OF FUEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND HE WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

WHENEVER I FILL UP WITH FUEL IT TAKES DAYS FOR THE GAS GAUGE TO READ. IT STAYS ON EMPTY MOST OF THE TIME AND THE EMPTY LIGHT IS ON ALL OF THE TIME. SHORTLY AFTER DISCOVERING THE PROBLEM I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK ABOUT REPAIR AND COST. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED $600 FOR THE REPAIR AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER, AND THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FIX IT UNTIL NEXT WEEK. TWO DAYS AFTER I CHECKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE WHEN MY TRUCK STOPPED FUNCTIONING. IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC I HAD TO COAST MY VEHICLE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. *TR

AFTER GAS TANK WENT DOWN TO 1/4 TANK, GOT A FILL UP AT A LOCAL GAS STATION. PULLED OFF AND NOTICE THAT THE GAS GAUGE WAS NOT READING THAT IT WAS FULL. AFTER RIDING A MILE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WENT TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP THINKING I JUST NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE; THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEN WAS CHARGED $100 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TEST CONFIRMED: REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY RECOMMENDED AFTER THE SENDING UNIT GOES BAD. CAUSING NO READING ON GAS GAUGE EVEN AFTER GAS TANK IS FILLED IN TERMS MAKING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAIN ON CONSISTENTLY. I BROUGHT THIS TRUCK USED STILL UNDER WARRANTY. CAME TO FIND OUT THAT THE PART ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY BUT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS FROM 2004-2007.... *TR

FUEL GAUGE STAYS AT EMPTY AFTER TANK IS FILLED, THEN SLOWLY RISES TO FULL OVER THE COURSE OF A COUPLE OF DAYS. DTE GAUGE ALTERNATES BETWEEN CORRECT READING, A READING THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE, AND ----.
