2 months after purchasing the vehicle (with 98,410 miles) it started to shutter around 40 and 60 mph. At a little over 100,000 miles it began to slip in 5th gear (overdrive). It has been getting worse in the last 1,000s. Both Nissan or the local dealer are willing to offer any financial assistance.

I was at work, Which is 100% depended on my vehicle, as I work in the oilfield, I was out in the middle of nowhere, when I was getting back into my vehicle, I turned the key and the vehicle would not even turnover, I was forced to walk 5 miles to get to a job site that cell phone service to make a call for help, Took the truck to my mechanic, He said it was a transmission code coming up on his computer and that he was unable to fix, So I had to tow the vehicle a second time to Nissan in Grand Junction co. where they informed me that the Transmission and Radiator fluid has mixed together, Now I'm needing a new Transmission and coolant system at a price over $6000, They did let me know that this was a VERY common problem with this vehicle.

ON 2/2/2019, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION CHECKED, BECAUSE PRIOR TO THIS DATE I WAS EXPERIENCING ALOT OF JERKING AND OTHER ISSUES, ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER AAMCO TECHS LOOKED OVER MY TRANSMISSION, I WAS CONTACTED & INFORMED THAT I HAD A DEFECTIVE RADIATOR THAT HAD CONTAMINATED MY TRANSMISSION, DUE TO THE RADIATOR LEAKING COOLANT INTO MY TRANSMISSION. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT NISSAN HAD A LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS VERY PROBLEM, WHICH I WAS IN SHOCK, SINCE NO ONE HAD EVER ADVISED ME THROUGH MAIL, EMAIL, OR EVEN WORD OF MOUTH. MY FRONTIER IS A 2006, BUT I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MAY OF 2007, & ON 2/2/2019, MY FRONTIER ONLY HAD 80,034 MILES ON IT. I'M DISABLED, & I NEED MY VEHICLE FOR DOCTOR APPTS, & FOR MY TWO CHILDREN AS WELL. THE MOST FRUSTRATING PART OF IT ALL IS, I TAKE MY FRONTIER TO THE LOCAL NISSAN TO HAVE THEM DO THE OIL CHANGES & TIRE ROTATIONS WHENEVER ITS DUE, & THEY ALWAYS CHECK ALL OF MY FLUIDS AT THE SAME TIME. IN ADDITION, THIS ISSUE AROUSE IN 2006 BEFORE I PURCHASED THE FRONTIER, BUT NOTHING WAS EVER CONVEYED TO ME ABOUT ANY ISSUES WITH THIS PARTICULAR YEAR OR MODEL. SINCE THERE WERE 3-4 MODELS AFFECTED BETWEEN 2005 THRU 2010. I HAD AAMCO REPLACE THE RADIATOR & TRANSMISSION, WHICH COST ME $4,000.00, & MY FRONTIER ONLY HAD 80,000 MILES ON IT, I'VE NEVER HEARD OR EVEN EXPERIENCED SUCH AN ISSUE, ESPECIALLY WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE BEFORE! I EVEN REACHED OUT TO NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICE, BUT THEY DID NOT FEEL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE $1,500.00, WHICH THEY ARE BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONES THAT PUT DEFECTIVE RADIATORS INTO THEIR PRODUCTS, BUT DID NOT SEND OUT ANY NOTIFICATIONS ABOUT THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM THAT A OWNER COULD HAVE. MY FAMILY OR MYSELF COULD'VE EASILY BEEN HURT BECAUSE OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE IN NOT NOTIFYING CONSUMERS/OWNERS. DO THEY NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS, OR IS IT JUST ABOUT THE ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR!!

AFTER TURNING OVER 72,000 MILES, A SLIGHT VIBRATION WAS NOTICED DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. OUR LOCAL TRANSMISSION MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A NON-REPAIRABLE TRANSMISSION DUE TO RADIATOR FLUID MIXING WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID: RESULTING IN THE NEED FOR A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION.

2006 NISSAN FRONTIER TRANSMISSION FAILING DUE TO ENGINE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID MIXING. TRUCK STARTED JERKING AT TIMES JUST CRUISING USUALLY BETWEEN 40 AND 50 MPH THEN WORSE. COOLANT RESERVOIR AND RADIATOR WAS NOTICED IN COMPONENTS. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND GAVE ME A PRICE OF 5300 TO REPLACE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION AND FLUSH ALL SYSTEMS. I HAD BEEN READING REVIEWS ON THESE MODELS AND WAS HOPING THIS WASN'T THE ISSUE ON MINE. AS SOON AS I NOTICED THE FLUID CONTAMINATION I WAS SICK. HAD NO IDEA OF THIS PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE UPON DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN SLOWLY TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT RADIATOR FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO HER TRANSMISSION WHICH HAD CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. THE CONTACT THEN TOWED THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED HER THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THERE WERE ALSO NO RECALLS ON HER VEHICLE IN RELATION TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE SAME INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

COASTING ON THE FREEWAY I WOULD PULL TO THE SIDE AND HAVE CARS DRIVE AROUND MR WHILE TRYING TO PUSH IT OFF THE SHOULDER,LOOKING FOR AN OFF RAMP TO GO TO THE NEAREST TRANSMISSION SHOP I COULD FIND..SECONDLY I HAD TO REPLACE MY FUEL SENDER AND OR. MY FUEL PUMP I T WENT OUT WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY THINKING I HAD A HALF A TANK WHEN ACTUALLY IT WAS ON EMPTY ..SO I REALLY NEVER KNEW HOW MUCH FUEL IT HAD UNTIL I GOT IT FIXED AT SAM'S AUTOMOTIVE IN BEAUMONT CA .92223 AND SAM HAS RETURNED AND SOLD THE BUSINESS SO I HAVE NO RECEIPT ONLY REMEMBERING IT COSTS BETWEEN 500 AND 100 DOLLARS .. AND YES I CHECKED AND IT TOO HAD A RECALL AND I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED

THE TRANSMISSION LINE THAT RUNS THROUGH THE RADIATOR BROKE IN HALF , THE COOLING WAS PUSHED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TRANSMISSION OIL WAS PUSHED INTO THE RADIATOR,, THE RADIATOR, RADIATOR HOSES ,TRANSMISSION LINES , THREATS, HEAT CORE, WATER PUMP, AND READ TO TANK , NOW HAD OIL AND COOLING IN THEM , D-PATRICK OF EVANSVILLE INDIANA HAD RAN A 15 POINT INSPECTION ON THIS TRUCK , THEY SAID THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING AND THE TRANSMISSION OIL WAS DISCOLORED, THEY KNEW THAT THERE WAS SOME THING WRONG WITH THIS TRIF I.

IN APRIL 2019 I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER TRUCK 4X4 V6 . SUDDENLY I NOTICE A LACK OF POWER AND THEN IT DID NOT MOVE ANY WHERE. I CALL A TOW TRUCK SERVICES TO TAKE IT TO THE MECHANICS. THE WAS THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILURE , DO TO THE RADIATOR COIL LEAKING. WE PUT A NEW RADIATOR AND BOUGHT A TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE THAT COST $964.00 DOLLARS. TH3 MECHANIC INSTALLED IT AND RECOMMENDED TO TAKE IT TO NISSAN FOR PROGRAMMING. AFTER 3 TIMES TRYING NISSAN SAD THAT THE CONTROL MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE. THIS ISSUE HAS COST ME ALMOST $2,500.00 IN TOWING AND LABOR BACK AND FORWARD AND STILL MY TRANSMISSION IS NOT WORKING. I AM NOW IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING A TRANSMISSION. THIS IS NOT FAIR HOW A COMPANY THAT KNOWS THAT PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE WAIT UNTIL THE WARRANTY IS OVER AND DON'T FIX THE PROBLEM PRIOR. THEY ARE KNOW FOR THEIR CTV PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION AND WITH THE RADIATOR COIL BEING DEFECTIVE. THIS COMPANIES OPERATING IN OUR COUNTRY ARE ABUSING THE CONSUMERS WITH NO BODY DOING JUSTICE. I HOPE THIS HOPE SOMEONE OR AT LEAST BRING AWARENESS TO OUR GOVERNMENT AGENCIES THAT PROTECT CONSUMERS. THANKS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION, AND THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000.

VEHICLE WILL NOT CHANGE GEARS AND IS SLUGGISH. THE DISPLAY ON THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT SHOW THE POSITION OF THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE SPENT OVER 600 DOLLARS TO FIND OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE IS BAD AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL TO FIX COOLENT LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. MY VEHICLE IS STILL BROKEN BECAUSE OF THE PART COST 1100 USD AND THE REPAIR. TOTAL BILL IS 1600 USD. THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE FIXED WITHOUT ME PAYING A DIME. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. NOW IT WON'T EVEN GET UP TO SPEED THE TRANSMISSION SOUNDS AS IF IT IS STUCK IN A GEAR. VERY ERRATIC. MY CRUISE CONTROL ALSO JUST BLINKS AND WHEN THE MECHANIC TESTED THE CODES IT GAVE A NETWORK FAILURE CODE

THE PROBLEM STEMS FROM AN ACKNOWLEDGED DEFECT INSIDE THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY. THE METAL TUBES THAT SEPARATE ENGINE COOLANT FROM TRANSMISSION FLUID CRACK OVER TIME. COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID MIXES THROUGH THESE CRACKS AND SUBSEQUENTLY CAUSE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED. VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT BUT WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN VEHICLE HAD NO POWER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN DOCUMENT MANY TIMES BEFORE AND NISSAN IS AWARE OF IT. A MANUFACTURE RECALL HAS NEVER BEEN ISSUED. REPAIRS HAVE BEEN ALLOWED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THIS VEHICLE IS PAST THE TIME LIMIT AND NUMBER OF MILES DEFINED IN THE WARRANTY AND NISSAN WILL NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,967.

ON 11/10/2018 WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH NO WARNING LIGHT MY 2006 NISSAN STARTS TO LOSE POWER!!! I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND PULL INTO A GAS STATION TO CALL AAA TO TOW IT TO A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION HAS COOLENT IN IT AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL NEED I BE REBUILT OR REPLACED WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION. HE SAID THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE COOLENT HOSE THAT WAS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. I NEVER GOT ANY WARNING LIGHT UNTIL AFTER THE TRANSMISSION FAILED.

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHENEVER FAILURE OCCURRED. I HAVE SINCE BEEN MADE AWARE THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH MANY NISSAN VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR SYSTEMS. DOCUMENTATION OF TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT IS NOT CURRENTLY IN MY POSSESSION, HOWEVER IF NECESSARY, ALL DOCUMENTATION CAN BE OBTAINED FROM TRANSMISSION REPAIR FACILITY.

THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 1V0517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,172.

THE PERSONS INVOLVED REPORTED THE SAME SYMPTOMS WE ARE EXPERIENCING SUCH AS TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING INTO THE RADIATOR COOLANT SPONTANEOUSLY AND NOW TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE TOWING A POP UP CAMPER THAT IS 3200 LBS WHICH IS WITHIN THE TOWING RANGE REPORTEDLYFOR THIS VEHICLE. I GOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY REPORT THEY WILL ONLY COVER UP TO $1900 AND MY MECHANIC STATES THE TOTAL COSTS ARE $4800. I AM VERY CONCERNED MY VEHICLE IS DOING THE SAME. CAN ANYONE HELP US?

THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 89,000.

UNFORTUNATELY I PAID $749 FOR THE RECENT REPAIR, SO, BECAUSE I SPENT A LOT OF MONEY FOR THE FIRST REPAIR, HE ONLY WANT ME DO 2 IGNITION COIL REPLACED FOR $775 PARTS/LABOR

IN FEBRUARY, 2017, THE RADIATOR ON MY NISSAN FRONTIER FAILED. DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW, COOLANT GOT INTO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH RUINED IT. FORTUNATELY, THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE DID NOT OCCUR ON THE ROAD BUT COULD HAVE CAUSING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

I WENT ON LINE TO SEARCH FOR SOMETHING RELATED TO NISSAN FRONTIER 2006 TRANSMISSION AND I FOUND OUT THE WEBSITE RELATING TO THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I DID CONTACT NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA ON WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 26, 2016 AND THEY TOLD ME TO SEND IN THE INVOICE AFTER THE REPAIR FOR REIMBURSEMENT. UNTIL THE REIMBURSEMENT TAKES PLACE, I AM STILL NERVOUSLY WAITING.

THIS IS PARTICULARLY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE 6 MONTHS AGO I PAID FOR A FULL INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE AND THOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT IS PREVENTABLE, THERE WAS NO MENTION OF IT IN THE REPORT.

EXTENDED WARRANTY REPLACED TRANSMISSION FOR $100.00. 6 MONTHS LATER, I WAS STILL NERVOUS ABOUT THE ISSUE AND BEFORE A BIG TRIP I DID SOME MORE RESEARCH. PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS WERE POINTING AT THE RADIATOR AND WARNED TO CHECK IT FOR TRANSMISSION OIL CONTAMINATION. CHECKED IT LAST NIGHT AND THE RADIATOR IS FULL OF TRANSMISSION OIL. TRUCK IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP.

NO DASH/IDIOT LIGHTS CAME ON IDENTIFYING ANY PROBLEMS, THERE WAS NO WARNING AT ALL. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THE TRANSMISSION, AND RADIATOR, AND THERMOSTAT ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED!! THEY CHARGED US $5,500. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAD 135,000 MILES, AND WAS KEPT IN GREAT CONDITION, AT TIME OF IT'S FAILURE. NISSAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF MAKING THE CONSUMER BEAR THE COST OF NISSAN'S FAULTY PARTS!! THEY ARE FLAT OUT LUCKY IF NO ONE'S BEEN INJURED, OR KILLED DUE TO THIS FAILURE! HAD I BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE AS PLANNED THE VERY NEXT DAY, IN THIS TRUCK, I WONDER IF I'D BE HERE TODAY. THERE SHOULD BE NO QUESTION OR HESITATION THAT THIS "TRANSMISSION FAILURE" IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE A FULL FLEDGED RECALL. THE DEALER STATES THE KNOWN DEFECT IS BEYOND THE 100,000 MILE CUTOFF FOR THE EXTEND MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY THAT DEALS WITH THIS COMMON AND WELL KNOWN DEFECT. THE ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR IS 4800.00 WITH THE FULL BURDEN RESTING ON ME FOR A COMMON AND WELL KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED HAD NISSAN RECALLED THE VEHICLES AND MADE THE REPAIRS AS SOON AS THEY WERE AWARE. THE TRUCK WOULD GET A SHUDDER/VIBRATION THAT SHOOK THE WHOLE TRUCK AT AROUND 45 AND 60 MILES PER HOUR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY. A NISSAN DEALER VERIFIED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN CROSS CONTAMINATED WITH COOLANT FLUID. I WAS LIVID TO LEARN THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE 2007 BUT DID NOT TELL ME ABOUT THE DEFECT WHEN I TOOK THE TRUCK FOR MAINTENANCE (A TRANSMISSION FLUID EXCHANGE) IN 2010 WHEN I HAD 68,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. I WAS ROBBER OF THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE ACTION EVEN AT MY OWN COST THAT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. NISSAN REFUSES TO PAY ANYTHING TOWARDS THE COST CITING THE SETTLEMENT IN THE CLASS ACTION. I WAS TOLD THE TERMS OF THE SETTLEMENT WOULD NOT ALLOW NISSAN TO COVER ANYTHING AFTER 100,000 MILES. WAS DRIVING FINE UP TO THE POINT WHERE WE SEEMED TO HAVE LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. WHEN WE PRESSED THE GAS, IT APPEARED TO BE IN NEUTRAL, ALTHOUGH IT WASN'T. I HAVE TAKEN MY PICKUP TO NISSAN AFTER LEARNING ABOUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY TO ROSEVILLE FUTURE NISSAN AND THEY SEEMS HAVE AGREED ABOUT THIS KNOWN ISSUE. I DO NOT REMEMBER EVER RECEIVING ANY INFORMATION FROM NISSAN REGARDING THE POTENTIAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE FOR MY MAKE AND MODEL AND I AM DISAPPOINTED TO KNOW THAT A RECALL WAS NOT ISSUED, AS THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE CLUTCH TO THE 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER FAILED WHILE DRIVING. AN ODOR WAS DETECTED PRIOR TO THE EVENT. WHEN I TRIED TO CHANGE GEARS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER MOVE AND THE GEAR STICK MOVED FREELY THROUGHOUT ALL SIX FORWARD PROPELLING GEARS AS WELL AS REVERSE. THE WRITER WAS ON A RURAL ROAD WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND NO OTHER CARS WERE INVOLVED. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. THE EVENT REPEATED APPROX 200 MILES LATER IN NEAR THE SAME LOCATION BY THIS WRITER'S HOME. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. ROUGHLY 150 MILES LATER, THE SMELL PERSISTED (IN THE THIRD CLUTCH). THIS WRITER FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN AND WAS TOLD TO BRING THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER IN ORDER TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE FOR THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE CLUTCH. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING DURING A "VISUAL INSPECTION" IN WHICH THE TRANSMISSION WAS REMOVED TO REVEAL THE PARTS INVOLVED. WITHIN A WEEK OF OWNING THE VEHICLE I FELT A "SHUDDER," AS IF DRIVING OVER A RUMBLE STRIP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHILE CRUISING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH IN TOP GEAR ON THE HIGHWAY. FELT THE SAME SENSATION ONE WEEK LATER AND AGAIN APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO. THESE "SHUDDERS" WERE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN BUT CONSISTENT IN FEELING AND DURATION, ONLY LASTING A SECOND OR SO. WHILE DOING AN OIL CHANGE AND FLUID CHECK ON 2-7-2013 AND APPROXIMATELY 94,700 MILES, I FOUND THE COOLANT IN MY RADIATOR AND OVERFLOW TANK TO BE A PINK, EVEN BORDERING ON PURPLE, IN COLOR AND ABOUT THE SAME CONSISTENCY AS HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM YOU WOULD PURCHASE FROM THE GROCERY STORE. I IMMEDIATELY ARRANGED FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE DIAGNOSED AT THE DEALERSHIP OF PURCHASE THE NEXT MORNING AND THE THREE YEAR EXTENDED POWER TRAIN WARRANTY DICTATED SUCH. THE SERVICE SHOP'S DIAGNOSIS CONFIRMED THE RESEARCH I HAD FOUND LINKING THE DISCREPANT COOLANT IN MY RADIATOR TO BE FROM A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE/COIL INSIDE THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR THAT WAS LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID INTO MY RADIATOR. THUS, NOT RECIRCULATING THE PROPER AMOUNT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID, IF AT ALL, BACK INTO MY TRANSMISSION CAUSING IT TO FAIL AND WAS "SHUDDERING" AS A SIDE EFFECT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS PAST THE 80,000 MILE MARK AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, NISSAN WOULD REQUIRE A $3,000 DEDUCTIBLE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES, AND THE RADIATOR. I PURCHASED MY TRUCK WITH ABOUT 1900 MILES ON IT. I WAS A VERY PROUD OWNER, DOING EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO KEEP MY TRUCK DEPENDABLE AND RELIABLE BY GETTING ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE PLUS PREVENTATIVE CARE. HOWEVER, ONE MORNING I TRIED STARTING MY TRUCK FOR WORK AND IT WASN'T CRANKING. UNFORTUNATELY, I DECIDED TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO A SMALL MECHANIC SHOP AND I WITNESSED THEM START AN ENGINE FIRE THAT DAMAGED THE WIRE HARNESS. I QUICKLY TOOK MY TRUCK OUT OF THIS MECHANICS SHOP AND TOWED IT TO THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I ASKED THE SERVICE ADVISOR TO REPAIR THE WIRE HARNESS AND TO FIND OUT WHY MY TRUCK IS NOT CRANKING. THE SERVICE ADVISOR EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM OF COOLANT LEAKING INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION WHICH WILL DAMAGE THE COMPUTER COMPONENT CAUSING THE TRUCK NOT TO START OR CRANK. THE SERVICE ADVISOR THEN CONTINUED TO TELL ME THAT MY TRUCK IS NO LONGER COVERED FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE I EXCEEDED THE ALLOWED MILEAGE TO REPAIR THE FACTORY DEFECT AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET WHICH TOTAL MORE THEN WHAT THE TRUCK IS WORTH. THE SERVICE ADVISOR ALSO REVEALED THAT I SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED A LETTER WITH DETAILS OF THE RECALL, BUT I NEVER RECEIVED IT BECAUSE IT WENT TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER. I WAS CONFIDENT IN PURCHASING A NISSAN TRUCK AND INVESTED ALL OF MY MONEY TOWARD ONE HOPING THIS WOULD BE MY ONLY VEHICLE PURCHASE FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS BUT NOW I HAVE LESS THAN A YEAR OF PAYMENTS LEFT AND A VEHICLE THAT DOESN'T RUN. I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC IN MY 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER WHEN I LOST ALL FORWARD MOMENTUM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. THE TRUCK FELT LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION BLOCKING TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS WHILE CARS HONKED AND WENT AROUND ME. AFTER ABOUT 15 SECONDS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT JERKED INTO GEAR. I HAD THE CODE CHECK AND THEY SAID IT WAS A FAULT IN THE TRANSMISSION. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT ABOUT THE FAULTY RADIATOR PROBLEM THAT COULD ALLOW COOLANT INTO TRANSMISSION. I CHECKED MY COOLANT FOR SIGNS AND SURE ENOUGH I HAD GREY SLUDGE FLOATING ALL IN MY COOLANT WHICH IS A SIGN OF CROSS CONTAMINATION. I CALLED A LOCAL AAMCO (TRANSMISSION MECHANIC) TO ASK HIM ABOUT IT AND HE KNEW ALL ABOUT THE ISSUE AND SAID HE REBUILDS AT LEAST ONE NISSAN TRANSMISSION A WEEK DUE TO COOLANT DESTROYING THE TRANSMISSION. HE RECOMMENDED THAT I BYPASS THE RADIATOR COOLER RIGHT AWAY AND CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IN ORDER TO REDUCE DAMAGE. HE SAID THAT SINCE IT HAS ALREADY SHOWN SINCE OF CONTAMINATION THAT IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME IT FAILED AGAIN AND FOR GOOD. COOLANT FRON RADIATOR ENTERED TRANSMISSION CAUSING SHUTTERING. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO NISSAN FOR REPAIR. ENGINE COOLANT HAD ENTERED THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING FAILURE TO TRANSMISSION. COOLANT SYSTEM WAS REPLACED AND TRANSMISSION WAS FLUSHED. AFTER 5000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION HAD COMPLETELY FAILED. THE FAILURE OCCURED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP SIGN IN A DANGEROUS INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK IN 4'TH GEAR. I ACCELERATED FROM THE STOP SIGN BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD BARELY MOVE LEAVING ME EXPOSED IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. A VEHICLE ALMOST T-BONED ME AS IT CAME AROUND THE BLIND CORNER. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS DEFECT FOR A LONG TIME. IF I HAD KNOWN I COULD HAVE REPLACED THE COOLANT SYSTEM BEFORE IT ENTERED THE TRANSMISSION. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF IT WAS RECALLED. THEY INFORMED ME I WAS A FEW THOUSAND MILES OVER MY WARRANTY AND THEY COULD DO NOTHING. THIS IS APPARENTLY AN "UNCOMMON", BUT KNOWN PROBLEM WITH NISSAN TRUCK AND SUV MODELS. I WAS TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON INTERSTATE 70 NEAR FREDERICK, MARYLAND WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCCURRED. NISSAN FRONTIER (NISMO) 2006 PRESENTED A POWER TRAIN FAILURE. IT WAS REPAIR AND FAILURE AGAIN AFTER SIX MONTH OF USE. WHEN I CAME BACK TO THE TECHNICIAN HE FOUND THAT THE RADIATOR HAD BEEN BROKEN AND LEAK COOLANT TO THE POWER TRAIN. THIS IS A SECOND REPAIR AND I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO IT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD START LUNGING FORWARD AND THE GEARS WERE SLIPPING. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STALLED AND THEN TOWED TO A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE TRANS COOLANT LINE HAD RUPTURED INSIDE THE RADIATOR CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO DIE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.

RADIATOR LEAKING FLUID INTO TRANSMISSION CAUSING TRANSMISSION TO WORK IMPROPERLY AND CAUSING VEHICLE TO JERK AND BECOME UNSAFE. TOOK TO DEALER IN AUGUST 2010 AND DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. I DO HAVE SERVICE RECORD STATING THIS. TOOK BACK TO DEALER AS PROBLEM PERSISTED AND NOW DEALER SAYS I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION THAT, OF COURSE IS NO LONGER COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY. NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO REPLACE RADIATORS, BUT DID NOT NOTIFY OWNERS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE IN REFERENCE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER (10V075000-FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:AUXILIARY TANK). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER THE FAILURE RECURRED. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR GAUGE HAD MALFUNCTIONED SINCE THE DAY THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO FAILED WHEN THE VEHICLE STALED AND HE WAS UNABLE TO GET IT RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000.

I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE TRUCK SHUDDERS AND SHAKES AND CANNOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. I TOOK IT TO AAMCO AND FOUND OUT I HAD WATER IN THE TRANSMISSION DUE TO A LEAK IN THE RADIATOR. I HAD TO PAY $2500.00 TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION REBUILT AND A NEW RADIATOR INSTALLED. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ON NISSANS PART BECAUSE IT WAS A FAULTY RADIATOR THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A SEVERE ACCIDENT. I HAVE HEARD OF ALOT OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME PROBLEM BUT NISSAN REFUSES TO DUE A RECALL. I HAVE THE SAME FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM THAT WAS JUST RECALLED AND I RAN OUT OF GAS BECAUSE OF IT. I OWN A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER, IT WAS DELIVERED WITH ONLY HALF THE KEYS PROGRAMMED FOR THE VEHICLE, A STRANGE RATTLING OF PLASTIC SHROUDING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND AS I FOUND OUT A FAST SET OF TIRES LATER, THE FRONT END OUT OF ALIGNMENT [ TOO MUCH TOE IN ]. WHEN I READ THE MANUAL I FOUND OUT THAT MY 4WD VEHICLE WAS "NOT INTENDED TO BE USED OFF OF THE ROAD", THIS WAS NOT IN ANY OF THE PRESALES LITERATURE AND THE REASON I BUY 4WD IS SO I CAN USE IT OFF ROAD. AT 100 MILES AFTER WARRANTY I HAD TO TAKE IT IN BECAUSE THE FUEL SENDING UNIT HAD FAILED, ABOUT A $600 REPAIR ON A PART THAT SHOULD LAST 200,000 MILES. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THEIR DEALERSHIP IS REPLACING ABOUT ONE OF THESE A WEEK ON A COUPLE OF MODELS. WHEN I PICKED IT UP I GOT THE TROUBLE LIGHT ON THE WAY HOME, I SCANNED IT TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS [CODE PO448 ]. I TOOK IT BACK. THE FIRST CANISTER THEY ORDERED SHOWED UP BROKEN [ KIND OF FRAGILE FOR SOMETHING MOUNTED ON THE BOTTOM OF A 4WD ]. PARTS REPLACED UNDER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY WERE 14953ZP50C FILTER-CANISTER, 14950-EA20A CANISTER ASSY. E, AND 14935-AM60B VALVE ASSY.-CO. THE SERVICE ORDER SAYS " ...INSPECTED/FOUND NO FLOW VERY RUSTY....". AS THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT THIS DOES NOT BODE WELL FOR THE FUTURE. *TR

SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT MY NISSAN TRUCK, I HAVE NOTICED VIBRATIONS WHEN IN 4WD, ESPECIALLY WHEN UNDER LOAD. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THE TRANSFER CASE IS STUCK IN 4WD NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO AND IT TAKES FOREVER TO GET IT OUT BACK INTO 2WD. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR THIS COMPLAINT AND HAVE HAD NO LUCK WITH GETTING IT FIXED. FINALLY UPON MY OWN INSPECTION, I NOTICED 3-4 BOLTS BEING DANGEROUSLY LOOSE IN THE TRANSFER CASE WHICH IS A HUGE CALL FOR ALARM. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND DETERMINED THIS WAS NORMAL OPERATION FOR THIS VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT OWNED TWO OTHER AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION VEHICLES THAT DID NOT EXHIBIT THIS PROBLEM.
