This is known problem you refused to force Nissan to recall. At a minimum Nissan should have been required to notify owners of the problem. They did not. My radiator has failed allowing coolant to mix with the transmission fluid destroying the transmission. I have 96,000 miles on my vehicle. I would have gladly paid out of pocket to replace the defective radiator to save the transmission, but since I was not notified of the problem, now I have to potentially replace the transmission.

Symptoms began as random hard shifts, then progressed to a sudden loss of power and high rpms. If the vehicle was turned off and on, the transmission would engage and you could drive a couple hundred feet before it began slipping again. I used this tactic of turning it off and on again to get the vehicle off of the highway. Vehicle has not been sent to shop as of yet. Taking a turn, my Nissan Frontier 2007 suddenly stops right in the middle of the street causing traffic jam, I was lucky enough not to be t-boned with my kids seating on the back. Nissan knew about is but never advised costumers about it to open a recall campaign. Need help with this. Truck was bought brand new at the dealer.

THE ENGINE HAS BURNING OIL FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW AND THE SAFETY BAG LIGHT FLASHING FOR 3 MONTHS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS SON WAS DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED ABNORMALLY WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER AND CALLED THE CONTACT FOR ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO PETRO NISSAN (6248 US-98, HATTIESBURG, MS 39402) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.

I HAD TO HAVE THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE AT A COST OF $1550. NISSAN PUT PLASTIC GUIDES FOR THE TIME CHAIN KNOWING THEY WOULD WEAR DOWN CAUSING THE CONSUMER AN ADDITIONAL COST TO REPLACE THIS WAY EARLIER THAN MOST VEHICLES. AFTER THE REPAIR WORK THE NISSAN MECHANIC SHOWED ME THE PLASTIC GUIDES AND THERE WAS ALMOST NOTHING LEFT OF IT. VERY SCARY TO THINK WHAT WOULD OF HAPPENED IF I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE PLASTIC GUIDE WORE OUT. THIS COULD OF CAUSE SERIOUS HARM TO SOMEONE IF IT HAD COMPLETELY WARN DOWN WHILE DRIVING. NISSAN KNEW THIS AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM AS ALL OWNERS OF THEIR VEHICLES ARE FORCES TO PAY THE DELIBERATE COST TO HAVE THE VERY EXPENSIVE OUT OF POCKET REPLACEMENT WORK DONE.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ON 7/13/2019 I FELT MY TRUCK JERKING/TUGGING WHICH HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. ON 7/14/2019 THE 'SERVICE ENGINE' LIGHT CAME ON AND THE JERKING WAS MORE NOTICEABLE, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER FOR SERVICE ON 7/16/2019 AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS COOLANT MIXED IN WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TCM EVENTUALLY FRIED SINCE IT IS HOUSED INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION, APPARENTLY THE TRANSMISSION COOLING HOSES ROUTE TO THE RADIATOR AND THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. THE PROBLEM

WE HAD JUST HAD OUR OIL CHANGED IN OUR NISSAN FRONTIER AND HAD A GENERAL CHECK OF THE VEHICLE BEFORE DRIVING IT ON A VACATION TO ANOTHER STATE. EVERYTHING WAS IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN WELL-MAINTAINED. IT HAS 118,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING HOME LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER WE LEFT, WE NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING AND COOLANT WAS SUDDENLY LEAKING FROM THE TRUCK. WE ALSO NOTICED A PINK OR ORANGE FLUID MIXED WITH THE COOLANT. WE WERE >3 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE GOT WORSE AS WE WERE DRIVING. WE WERE LUCKILY ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AND TOOK OUR VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. WE FOUND OUT THAT THIS TRUCK HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS OTHER NISSANS--COOLANT MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO SUDDENLY FAIL. NOW THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVEABLE AND WERE ARE SUDDENLY LEFT WITH A VERY BIG COST TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THIS SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION WITHOUT ANY WARNING IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. WE COULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED FAR FROM HOME OR WORSE, THE TRANSMISSION COULD HAVE FAILED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I KNOW THAT NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2007 AND HAS FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX IT AND FAILED TO CHANGE THE DESIGN OF LATER VEHICLES. WE HAD NO IDEA THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH OUR VEHICLE UNTIL IT HAPPENED TO US. SINCE EVERYTHING WAS IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER WHEN WE LEFT, WE HAD NO REASON TO SUSPECT THAT IN LESS THAN A WEEK, OUR VEHICLE WOULD BECOME UNDRIVEABLE.

UPON INSPECTING, THE AT CONTROL FUSE WAS BLOWN AND WHEN REPLACED THE VEHICLE CRANKED, ONLY TO HAVE THE FUSE BLOW AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION, LIKELY NEED TO BE REPLACED TO REMEDY THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN AND UNFORTUNATELY, LITTLE HAS BEEN DONE TO HOLD THE MANUFACTURER ACCOUNTABLE.

THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION COOLER THAT IS INTERNAL TO THE RADIATOR LEAKED COOLANT INTO THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CAUSING EXCESSIVE FRICTION DESTROYING IT. NISSAN KNEW OF THE PROBLEM YET FAILED TO WARN OWNERS THAT THEY COULD AVOID A $6000 REPAIR BY REPLACING THE KNOW DEFECTIVE RADIATOR FOR LESS THAN $1000. NISSAN OFFERED A PRORATED WARRANTY EXTENSION OF UP TO 10 YRS/90,000 MILES (MINE IS A 2007 WITH 88934 SO NOT COVERED) BUT ONLY COVERING A SMALL PORTION OF THE COST TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. NISSAN SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR FAILING TO WARN OWNERS THEY COULD HAVE AVOIDED THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. A MANUFACTURE SHOULD HAVE A DUTY TO WARN CONSUMERS IN THIS CASE. THIS COULD CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE FAILURE OCCURRED IN A CRITICAL SITUATION. IN MY CASE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING ON STATE HIGHWAY 460 NEAR NARROWS, VIRGINIA.

TOWED TO A MECHANIC . $1100 LATER, MECHANIC SAYS TOW IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC BECAUSE THE MODULAR INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT WORKING AND THEY CAN TELL WHAT'S WRONG. I GET IT TOWED TO NISSAN DEALER FOR $90 AND $450(3HRS OF LABOR TO DIAGNOSE TRUCK) LATER, NISSAN SAID RADIATOR FLUID CROSS CONTAMINATED WITH TRANSMISSION AND RUINED IT. ALSO FOUND TRANSMISSION FLUID AND ENGINE OIL IN RADIATOR. SO THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $6800. NISSAN DEALER SENDS ME SERVICE COUPONS, FLYERS TO TRADE THE FRONTIER FOR NEWER A MODEL TO MY HOUSE. THEY ALSO TEXT AND CALL. IN 2012 THEY SETTLED TO EXTEND POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. WHY WASN'T I INFORMED OF PREVENTATIVE MAINTENCE ON A KNOWN DEFECT.

LAST MONDAY WHILE DRIVING TO WORK MY TRUCK SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF HWY 53 AND LOCKED UP THE STEERING AND ALMOST TOOK MY LIFE. DUE TO THE FACT NISSAN HAS IGNORED THEIR RADIATORS ARE FAULTY LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION, I AM LEFT WITH MY TRUCK SITTING IN THE YARD. I AM A 22 YEAR OLD MALE WITH 2 JOBS AND A FULL TIME STUDENT WITHOUT A WAY TO CONTINUE TO PURSE MY DREAM OF BECOMING A PHYSICAL THERAPIST.

WHEN ENTERING HWY 17 (70 MPH SPEED LIMIT) I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO ENTER ONCOMING TRAFFIC. INSTEAD OF INCREASING SPEED THE TRUCK STALLED. I PULLED ONTO THE RIGHT SIDE EMERGENCY LANE IN ORDER TO PREVENT TRAFFIC FROM RUNNING OVER MY VEHICLE. I PLACED THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK AND IT SEEMED TO SMOOTH OUT . MOTOR WAS RUNNING WITH EXCESS RPM'S AND TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THIS WAS A NEAR ACCIDENT. I COULD HEAR CARS BEHIND PLACING ON BRAKES AND BLOWING HORN. WHEN RETURNING HOME WAS TOLD BY NISSAN DEALERSHIP RADIATOR COOLER AND TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO FAULTY LINES. NISSAN SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS PROBLEM.

THE DEALER COULD HAVE REPLACED THE RADIATOR 5 YEARS AGO. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM FOR YEARS.

NOTIFIED THAT THERE IS A FLUID INTERMIX BETWEEN MY COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUIDS. HOW CAN THAT BE WHEN THEY ARE TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT SYSTEMS? NISSAN IS OFFERING THAT I PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE OF 3000$ TO GET IT FIXED. I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR ALL FRONTIERS, XTERRAS AND PATHFINDERS AND NISSAN IS NOT BEING PRO-ACTIVE IN ISSUING REPAIRS PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM HAPPENING AND STICKING THE CONSUMERS WITH THE COST TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. FIRST TIME WAS JUST OVER THE WARRANTY SO I WAS FORCED TO PAY A $2500 COPAY. THE VIHICLE STARTED SHOWING SIGNS OF A SECONDARY FAILURE JUST PRIOR TO 100000 MILES AND WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER THEY LIED TO ME AND SAID THERE WAS JUST RESIDUAL OIL IN THE RADIATOR FROM THE FIRST FAILURE... NOW I AM PAST ANY WARRANTY COPAY AND THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AT JUST 100500 MILES. THAT IS JUST TWO YEARS (LESS THAN 18000 MILES) AFTER THEY REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT CONSUMERS ARE BEING FORCED TO PAY FOR A KNOWN ISSUE OF POOR ENGINEERING ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED BY THE DEALER WITH NISSAN PARTS. THEY HAVE OBVIOUSLY NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT JUST REPLACED WITH ANOTHER DEFECTIVE PART. ON TOP OF THAT THEY DENIED THERE WAS A PROBLEM TO SO I WOULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT WAS PAST THE EXTENDED WARRANTY (FROM 2012 CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT). WHILE THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT IN EITHER INDECENT THERE WAS A NEAR COLLISION THE FIRST TIME AS I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION AND THE SECOND THERE WAS TRAFFIC BEHIND ME THAT HAD TO AVOID REAR-ENDING ME AS THE VEHICLE STOPPED, THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH.

I WAS TOLD AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP THAT I HAD TRANSMISSION DAMAGE DUE TO RADIATOR FLUID LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION . IT COST ME $2500 TO REPAIR A PROBLEM THAT COULD HAVE COST LIVES. I UNDERSTAND THIS WAS A PROBLEM THAT WAS NOT RECALLED BY NISSAN.

WE CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY REFUSED TO HELP PAY FOR THIS SO WE WERE STUCK WITH PAYING OVER $5000 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION.

A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, I BEGAN TO NOTICE A LOUD VIBRATING OR SHUDDERING SOUND AT SPEEDS AROUND 35-40 MPH. IT SEEMED TO HAPPEN AS I STOPPED ACCELERATING AS IF IT WERE TRYING TO UP-SHIFT FOR CRUISING. THE SOUND BEGAN TO GET LOUDER OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS BEFORE I COULD GET IT CHECKED OUT. IT NOW HAS A VERY DIFFICULT TIME SHIFTING AT THOSE SPEEDS AND WHEN IT DOES SHIFT, IT'S HARD AND MAKES A LOUD KNOCK SOUND. IT THEN BEGAN TO RUN HOT ONE DAY SO AFTER IT COOLED I CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL AND FOUND THAT IT HAD A LIGHT BROWN, MILKY LOOKING SUBSTANCE WHICH FELT OILY. I'VE RECENTLY DISCOVERED A LOT OF INFORMATION FROM PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM EXPLAINING THAT IT IS CAUSE BY THE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID MIXING AND DAMAGING EACH COMPONENT.

2007 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH 140,000 MILES STARTED VIBRATING AND SEEMED SLUGGISH WHEN ACCELERATING. I TOOK TO FIRESTONE THINKING MAYBE IT NEEDED TUNE UP. COME TO FIND OUT TRANSMISSION IS THE ISSUE. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY HAD TO REPLACE FUEL SENSOR WHEN NISSAN REFUSED TO PAY. I WAS OVER THE MILEAGE BY 2000 MILES FOR RECALL. NOW I HAVE READ ABOUT ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION AND ONCE AGAIN NISSAN REFUSING TO FIX PROBLEMS. NISSAN SHOULD BE TAKING CARE OF THESE ISSUES. I WILL NOT OWN ANOTHER NISSAN!!! TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING BAD, AND THE COOLANT WAS LOOKING BROWNISH RED. TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS IN THE RADIATOR AND THROUGH OUT BOTH THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET CHECK-OUT THEY SAID MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THAT THIS WOULDN'T BE COVERED. WOULD NEED TO REPLACE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION.... COSTING ME $ 2,731.25. ALTHOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN FACT THAT NISSAN IS HAVING A GOOD AMOUNT OF PROBLEMS WITH VARIOUS NISSAN MODEL INCLUDING MY NISSAN FRONTIER. VERY UNHAPPY NISSAN CUSTOMER OF MANY YEARS..... NISSAN FRONTIER HAS BEEN JERKING SPORADICALLY FOR A MONTH DRIVING LOCALLY AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS CITY OR HIGHWAY. I ASSUMED IT WAS CHEAP FUEL AND A NEEDED TUNE UP. I DECIDED TO TAKE THE TRUCK IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AT FIRESTONE AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OR ISSUE OF THE JERKING. REQUESTED DIAGRAMS OF THE ENGINE WAS UNREADABLE AND NO HELP. FIRESTONE RECOMMENDED I TAKE IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY QUOTED A $5000 PLUS REPAIR BILL. THIS SEEM OUT OF THE ORDINARY FOR SIMPLE JERKING AND NO OTHER SYMPTOMS. IN ADDITION THEY HAD NOTED ON THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR BILL SOME OTHER REPAIRS THAT OBVIOUS NEEDED FIXING AS GOOD CONDITION. IMMEDIATELY I KNEW THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST PERFORMED WAS FALSE- THE MECHANIC DID NOT DIAGNOSE/TEST MY VEHICLE CORRECTLY AND THE REPAIR QUOTED WAS DUE TO AN ISSUE THEY NEW ABOUT FROM THE START. THAT'S WHEN I STARTED DOING ONLINE RESEARCH TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ARE PROBLEMS GOING ON WITH THE NISSAN FRONTIER. MY GUESS WAS CORRECT. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS FAULT REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION AND SUBSEQUENT ISSUE OF THE RADIATOR. NISSAN DEALERS ARE THEN CHARGING CUSTOMERS TO FIX AN ISSUE THAT WILL RE-APPEAR. CUSTOMERS SHOULD HAVE SOME RECOURSE OTHER THAN SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON PRODUCT DEFECT AND THAT RECOURSE SHOULD BE A RECALL OF THESE DEFECTIVE VEHICLES TO BE REPAIRED. 2012 CLASS ACTION SUIT EXTENDS WARRANTY FOR LEAKAGE OF ANTIFREEZE INTO TRANSMISSION WHICH CAUSES ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING PROPERLY AND BREAK DOWN. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON FEATURE ON NISSAN VEHICLES. THIS TRUCK WAS DRIVEN TO FLORIDA BY A COLLEGE STUDENT ON SPRING BREAK. AT 79,000 MARK TROUBLE STARTED. HE DROVE IT HOME TO VIRGINIA AND BINGO THE ODOMETER WENT OVER 80,000 MILES. AT 80,300 MILES HE TAKES IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND BECAUSE ODOMETER IS OVER 80,000 MILES THE MANUFACTURER REQUIRES $2500 OWNER CO-PAY TO REPAIR WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A PREVENTABLE REPAIR BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION TANKED. TRUCK WOULD NOT START. TOWED TO AUTO GARAGE. TOLD RADIATOR HAS A DEFECTIVE COOLEST LINE THAT RUNS THRU TRANSMISSION. THIS CAUSED CROSS CONTAMINATION OF RADIATOR FLUID AND TRANSMISSION FLUID, CAUSING BREAKDOWN OF TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. FOUND OUT ONLINE THAT THIS HAPPENS WITH THREE TYPES OF NISSAN VEHICLES MADE BETWEEN 2005 AND 2010. NISSAN WILL ONLY COVER IF UNDER 100,000 MILES BUT I HAVE TO PAY FIRST 3000 ON A FIX AVERAGING 3800 TO 4000. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY PROBLEMS BY NISSAN. THEY KNEW THEIR WAS A PROBLEM AND I BELIEVE THAT ARE STALLING AND COVERING THIS PROBLEM. THEY SHOULD BE 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS LIABILITY. I FIRST BEGAN NOTICING A PROBLEM WITH MY 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER WHEN THE HEATER WAS HAVING TROUBLE HEATING UP THE CAB AS I WAS DRIVING. AT FIRST THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT AND THE HEATER WOULD WARM UP FOR A WHILE AND THEN GET COLD AGAIN. SHORTLY AFTER THAT I BEGAN TO NOTICE A VIBRATION OR SHUDDERING AT HIGHER SPEEDS AS IF I WAS HITTING A RUMBLE STRIP. I BEGAN DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL NISSAN MODELS BETWEEN 2005 AND 2010. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY KNEW IMMEDIATELY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND WHAT WAS NEEDED TO REPAIR IT. THE RADIATOR DEVELOPS A CRACK THAT LEAKS INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND STARTS TEARING UP THE INTERNALS OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF BOTH THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION. THE COST TO DO THIS REPAIR WAS ABOUT $5,100.00. THE COST WAS NOT COVERED IN THE NISSAN EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THE TRUCK HAD OVER 100,000 MILES. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED THAT NISSAN DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. MY TRUCK WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE DUE TO A WHINING FROM THE ENGINE.IF TIMING CHAIN FAILS THE ENGINE WILL LOSE POWER PUTTING PEOPLE AT RISK. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE ISSUE SINCE TSB # 07-042 ISSUED JULY 17 2007. I PURCHASED IN OCT 2007 HAD I HAD THIS INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO ME I WOULD HAVE MADE A DIFFERENT DECISION. IN APRIL 17 2009 ANOTHER TSB WAS ISSUED #07-042A, ON DECEMBER 14 2009 ANOTHER TSB #07-042C.SOMETIME BETWEEN 2006-2007 THE PRIMARY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER WAS REDESIGNED. SO NISSAN WAS WELL AWARE THERE WAS AN ISSUE.THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT NEVER MENTIONED THIS ISSUE UNTIL I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY LEAVING ME ON THE HOOK FOR REPAIRS. THE TIMING CHAIN SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE MOTOR .PLEASE OPEN AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS MATTER. NISSAN DID NOT DO ANYTHING FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS ABOUT THE RADIATOR TRANSMISSION CROSS CONTAMINATION UNTIL A CLASS ACTION SUIT WAS BROUGHT AGAINST THEM AND THEY LOST.THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT IN PROCESS IN CALIFORNIA FOR THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE.ANY ONE WHO HAS WHINING BUZZING IN THE ENGINE IN THEIR NISSAN FROM 2004-2007 WITH THE V-6 Q40 SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT AS WELL. *TR

I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE 12-17-14, SINCE THE HEATER WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND JUST FOUND OUT THE THAT RADIATOR CRACKED AND LEAKED RADIATOR FLUID INTO THE TRANSMISSION, POSSIBLY CONTAMINATING THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS DRIVING AND NOTICED THAT WHEN I SLOWED DOWN OR STOPPED, THEN TRIED TO GO AGAIN THE CAR HESITATED, THEN TOOK OFF FAST ALL AT ONCE. AT TIMES EVEN WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS FLOORED THE CAR WOULDN'T GO, THEN WOULD TAKE OFF. I TRIED CHANGING GAS, AN ADDITIVE, NOTHING HELPED. I HAD A NEIGHBOR DRIVE THE CAR AND HE SAID GET IT IN BEFORE YOU KILL SOMEONE. I CALLED A COUPLE OF SHOPS, BUT EVENTUALLY WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THEY DIAGNOSED A MAJOR ENGINE PROBLEM THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT WAS RULED AGAINST NISSAN. THEY SAID I NEEDED A 5000 DOLLAR REPAIR, BUT THEY WOULD ONLY CHARGE ME 2500 BECAUSE OF THE LAWSUIT. IT SEEMS THEY ONLY COVER FULL PRICE UP TO 80000 MILES. I WAS 600 MILES PAST THERE REPAIR LINE. I EXPLAINED THAT I HAD TRIED MANY THINGS, AND THE PROBLEM WAS GOING ON LONG BEFORE THE 80000 MILE MARK. I OFFERED PROOF BY CALLING THE SHOPS AND TRYING TO PUT THEM ON THE PHONE WITH NISSAN, THEY WOULD NOT TAKE THE PHONE. I CALLED THE NEIGHBOR TO TALK TO THEM AS PROOF THAT HE DROVE THE TRUCK MORE THAN A MONTH EARLIER AND THE PROBLEMS WERE SEVERE. THEY WOULD NOT TAKE THE PHONE. THEY EVENTUALLY GAVE ME THE NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS NUMBER, AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND HAVE NOT RETURNED A CALL SINCE.WHENEVER I CALL THEY SAY SOMEONE WILL RETURN YOUR CALL BY THE END OF THE DAY, OF COURSE NOBODY DOES. MEANWHILE, THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE, AND I AM GETTING SCARED TO EVEN DRIVE THE TRUCK ANYMORE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BACK ROAD. WHILE TRAVELING UP A SLIGHT HILL THE TRUCK SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL THE ENGINE WOULD REV BUT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE TRUCK. WHEN I RESTARTED AND PUT IT IN DRIVE I STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. I ENDED UP GETTING TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. IF THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION I COULD UNDERSTAND THAT AT 155K MILES IT COULD FAIL, HOWEVER THIS TRUCK HAS NOW GONE THROUGH THE FACTORY TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS A FACTORY REFURBISHED TRANSMISSION ALL WITHIN 7 YEARS. OUR TRUCK OVERHEATED ON 10/17/13. THE GARAGE INFORMED US THE INTERNAL RADIATOR HAD BUSTED AND HAD LEAKED ANTIFREEZE INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSMISSION FLUID INTO THE RADIATOR. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC IT HAD BEEN THIS WAY FOR AWHILE. THERE WAS NOTHING TO INDICATE THERE WAS A PROBLEM THIS MAJOR. NISSAN COULD NOT EXPLAIN HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED NOR WHY ONLY THAT IF WE GIVE THEM 2500 THEY WILL REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION. THIS RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION ARE BOTH FACTORY INSTALLED. I THINK THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AS THIS WILL CAUSE THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT AND THE TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT AND LEAVE YOU STRANDED. THIS IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR THAT MOST PEOPLE CANNOT UNDERTAKE. SO FAR WE HAVE PAID $300 FOR A "BAND-AID" FIX UNTIL WE CAN FIND A WAY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. WHEN I LIFTED THE HOOD I NOTICED A CREAM COLORED SUBSTANCE COMING OUT OF COOLANT RESERVOIR. HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO NISSAN DEALER. AFTER DIAGNOSIS WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND THE COOLANT FLUID GOT MIXED TOGETHER. APPARENTLY THIS HAS HAPPEN BEFORE ON 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER ENGINES. WHILE DRIVING I NOTICE STEAM FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS AT MAXIMUM HOT.I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO AN AUTO SHOP. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE OF THE WATER PUMP AND ANTI-FREEZE GETTING INTO THE ENGINE. THEY SAID THE WARRANTY HAD BEEN EXTENDED TO COVER THIS PROBLEM BUT IT WAS ONLY EXTENDED TO VEHICLES THAT HAD LESS THAN 80000 MILES AND SINCE I WAS OVER THE ALLOTTED MILEAGE I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS. I WAS DRIVING WHEN MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST SPEED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS. IT EVENTUALLY STOPPED, AND WOULD NOT START BACK. THE FOLLOWING DAY, I HAD IT TOWED TO A REPUTABLE REPAIR SHOP, WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND A NEW RADIATOR, WHICH WOULD COST ME MORE THAN $6000.00. THEY EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE RADIATOR, THAT CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO MIX WITH THE COOLANT. THIS FLUID MIXTURE RUINED BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR. BELIEVING THIS WAS AN ABSURD OCCURRENCE, I LOOKED ONLINE, AND LEARNT THIS WAS A COMMON DEFECT FOR NISSAN XTERRA, FRONTIER AND PATHFINDERS FROM 2005-2010. I CALLED THE NISSAN TOLL FREE NUMBER AND EXPLAINED MY SITUATION. I WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER - 11982851 - AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO GET THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED AT A NISSAN DEALER. I PAID A SECOND TOWING FEE AND GOT THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALER, WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS CONFIRMED. I CALLED BACK THE NISSAN TOLL FREE NUMBER, AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS OVER 100 K MILES, THEY WOULD DO NOTHING TO HELP ME. I ASKED TO TALK TO A SUPERVISOR, AND WAS TOLD NONE WAS AVAILABLE, BUT ONE WOULD CALL ME WITHIN 4-8 HOURS. THAT TIME HAS EXPIRED, AND I HAVE CALLED BACK THREE TIMES, BUT STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TALK TO A SUPERVISOR. FRUSTRATING TO HAVE BOUGHT A NISSAN VEHICLE RIGHT OFF THE FREIGHT TRUCK, BRAND NEW, AND HAVING TO CHANGE OUT THE TRANSMISSION SO SOON, ESPECIALLY KNOWING THE MANUFACTURERS WERE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER SHOE IS TOO SOFT & IS WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. THIS JOB WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $1200 & I AM CURRENTLY HAVING THE REPAIRS MADE. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO I STARTED TO FEEL AS IF THE TRUCK WAS NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY, SOON AFTER THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I BROUGHT IT RIGHT IN TO OUR REGULAR SERVICE STATION. A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK REVEALED CODE P0717 FOR A TURBINE REVOLUTION SENSOR AND I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. THE NISSAN DEALER DID THEIR OWN DIAGNOSTIC (NO TEST DRIVE) AND FOUND IT TO BE A BAD VALUE BODY, AS WELL AS BAD TIMING CHAIN AND TENSIONERS, AND REPLACEMENT OF ALL 6 COIL PACKS, ALONG WITH A FEW OTHER GENERAL FINDINGS GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF NEARLY 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS. THE 2 DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS HAVE COST ME CLOSE TO $250. I WAS IN SHOCK AND DID NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS UP FRONT, SO I TOOK THE TRUCK TO 2 OTHER SERVICE STATIONS, ONE BEING AAMCO WHO SPECIALIZES IN TRANSMISSIONS. NONE OF THE 3 OTHER STATIONS FOUND ANY OTHER ISSUES ASIDE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. AAMCO AFTER A TEST DRIVE AND DIAGNOSTIC CHECK DETERMINED THERE WAS AN ISSUE BUT WOULD NEED TO REMOVE THE TRANSMISSION TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM. AAMCO FOUND THERE TO BE WATER BEING PUMPED INTO THE TRANSMISSION, AND ALSO CLAIMED IT WAS THE 3 PROBLEM OF THIS TYPE THEY HAD SEEN SO FAR THIS MONTH. APPARENTLY THE RADIATOR LEAKS WATER INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE FIX IS A REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND SEPARATE COOLER FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO ASSURE THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. AT A COST OF 3200 TO ME! THIS PARTICULAR AAMCO IS ACROSS FROM THE DEALER AND CLAIMS THAT HAVE DONE WORK FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE SAME PROBLEM! I ALSO RECEIVED A LETTER BACK IN OCT. /NOV. INDICATING A POSSIBLE RADIATOR PROBLEM AND AN OFFER OF AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. NOTHING WAS MENTIONED OF THE DAMAGE THAT COULD OCCUR TO THE TRANSMISSION!
