RE: Manufacturer Recall Number R24B2 - No Remedy available for more than a year! I am the original owner of my 2019 Nissan Leaf SL in California but have been unable to use my car for traveling due to the fast charge port recall. I have performed all the services and the recalls at the local Nissan dealer but there is still no remedy for the fast charge issue. As per the purchase agreement with Nissan, I should be able to use fast chargers without limitation but the lack of ability to use the fast charge port has severely hampered my ability to use the vehicle to travel even within my state. Nissan has promised a fix for more than a year but has failed to deliver.

Jan 7, 2026

Recall issued 9/24. Remains without a remedy with no estimated time for solution per Nissan Consumer Affairs Regional specialist. Vehicle is unsafe to be charged at fast charging chargers due to possibility of fire in lithium ion battery limiting my ability to travel. Also, the market value and utility is diminished due to this open recall. Requested buy back from Nissan North America and was denied citing not enough repair information on file with dealership where purchased and serviced. I see no connection to this statement governing the recall in question. I have followed the manufacturer’s recommended service for this vehicle as stated in the owner’s manual. This is unsatisfactory to me due to this extended recall compromising my safety and my ability to get market value for the vehicle at this point in time should I choose to do so.

The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Leaf. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V700000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). However, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact wanted to know how a battery software update would prevent a failure. The contact had not experienced a failure.

More than a year later, and Nissan still has no remedy available for recall 24V-700, posing a fire risk to consumers. In what universe would a software remedy take a major auto manufacturer more than a year to develop? NHTSA has the ability to regulate and safeguard the public. Instead they have become known as a toothless, ineffective exemplar of government brokenness. Why?

Dec 5, 2025

There was no incident...but I am reporting the fact that Nissan has not provided a remedy and the recall has been in place over a year. I and other owners of affected Nissan Leafs are not able to use the car to its full capacity. I strongly recommend NHTSA encourage/force Nissan to deliver a remedy and, indeed, compensation for the fact that these cars could not be use for long-distance driving for over a year (and counting).

Dec 3, 2025

The existing recall has now been outstanding for 15 months with no resolution proposed by the manufacturer and threats of disastrous consequences if the car is used as intended.

Car is unable to be quick, charged due to recall, leaving me, limited on charging my car quickly and driving it efficiently

Nov 21, 2025

For my Nissan Leaf 2019, I used DC fast charger to charge up while returning home from another town, with battery below 8%. It charged and got home and plugged in my Level2 charger overnight. In morning it displayed a “Service EV System” error and became undriveable. It would not go into Drive or Reverse. It will go into Neutral or Parking only. When I got it towed to Dealership, they cleared the code and gave back the car as drivable. But when I plugged in Level2 charger overnight, next morning same issue occured. Now Dealership did full diagnostics and tells me the car needs PDM (Power Distribution Module) replaced. Nissan previously issued Service Campaign P9351 for this exact issue, but my VIN is not included. I believe my vehicle has the same defective PDM and poses a safety risk due to sudden loss of drive power. Nissan has declined coverage. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether the recall should be expanded to include additional affected vehicles. Also there is open Recall R24B2 regarding Lithium Battery getting too hot durinig Fast DC charging for which they don't have the Remedy yet. I recall that only 3-4 weeks before above incident, I had my previous Fast DC charging session, after which I got a message on dashboard saying something like "Battery is very hot". I waited for 10 minutes before driving. Each time I would drive from standstill position, it will accelerate very slowly, but eventually drive OK after speeding up. I came home and let it cool overnight, and did not notice same symptom again until above PDM related issue happened after next Fast DC charging session.

Nissan has had an open recall for over a year and sent me multiple recall letters for NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-700. This recall has had no remedy to date. It was opened in 2024. I have to commute to work daily and am not able to fast charge my 2019 Nissan leaf anymore. This renders the car useless for my daily driving. I am only able to slow charge and not able to use the car for its intended purpose and original purpose. Please help as the resale of this vehicle has dropped from this recall. I am stuck with a car I cannot use for which it was advertised for. I'm looking into doing a buyback but wanted to start here for help.

Nissan announced recall R24B2 on September 19, 2024. The vehicle is at risk of overheating/fire when FAST CHARGING. Nissan has not provided ANY solution to this issue in the 14 months the recall has been open. Dealers have no information, Nissan says they are "working" on a software fix but give no date or schedule for repair. The official response from Nissan Corporation has been to tell us that they believe the recall solution of "DO NOT FAST CHARGE" is sufficient and they do not need to provide us any further assistance or compensation. The vehicle cannot be driven further than a single charge will allow because major EV charging station companies have now BANNED Nissan Leaf's from using their stations because of fire risk. This means outside of my HOME, I cannot charge the Leaf AT ALL. There is no usability of a vehicle that cannot be charged or powered outside of the home for risk of fire or damage to the battery. I was charged MORE money to have fast charging and a larger battery in this vehicle to be able to utilize it for ALL of my driving needs, including the ability to fast charge to increase range of the vehicle. Our vehicle had swollen battery modules that had bent or damaged the stacks and required a new battery to be installed due to the swelling of the modules leaving the vehicle unable to power on. Nissan replaced the battery in October 2025, but informed us despite a NEW battery the vehicle STILL CANNOT BE FAST CHARGED, as they are still unsure of how to fix the rapid heating of the cells. The vehicle will likely see the same swelling and degradation of the batteries without a PROPER solution from Nissan, leaving me to minimize any driving of a vehicle I am actively paying for, to avoid risk to my family, home and vehicle.

My 2019 Nissan Leaf SV (VIN [XXX] ) is affected by Recall 24V-700 / Nissan R24B2, a critical battery defect with no available fix since September 2024. Nissan has acknowledged the defect but has not provided any remedy. Despite repeated follow-ups with Nissan Consumer Affairs and their Arbitration Specialist, I have received no updates or resolution. The vehicle’s charging performance and safety are materially impaired. This defect has persisted for over one year, violating Nissan’s federal recall obligations. NHTSA Recall Number24V-700 It has been over 1yr since the recall was issued for fire risk on the Nissan leaf and still no fix is available. Nissan continues to ask users to not charge with level 3 charging which in my leaf was an expensive option. Limits my ability to use my car for longer trips. How much time do they legally have to remedy the issue?

Oct 5, 2025

State of charge wildly fluctuates at charge less than about 60%, making the car unusable except for very short trips between charges. Lack of fast charging (active recall) means that car cannot be used for its intended purpose

Oct 5, 2025

Manufacturer has not remedied recall for over a year, continually pushing recall remedy date back. No new recall remedy date is available. Car is not functional for lvl 3 charging as advertised on sale.

Oct 4, 2025

I have the same complaint as the other 2019 leaf owners. It's been over a years since I was told a recall was in effect for the car I haven't been able to drive it any significant distance because I can't use a fast charger. Additionally, the rear camera that had been recalled and supposedly fixed is now malfunctioning again. When I contacted Nissan I did get in touch with the arbitration department but they are giving me the runaround

Oct 4, 2025

Nissan issued a recall for my car in September 2024, stating that 2019 Leafs cannot use CHAdeMo fast charging until the problem has been remedied. Nissan gave multiple estimates of when the recall would be completed (first in the fall/winter of 2024, then early 2025). Despite the recall being most recently estimated to be remedied in March 2025, it is now October 2025 and there is no solution, nor any recourse for the lack of remedy. Accordingly, for over a year, I have been unable to use fast charging, making it impossible to take any trip longer that 135 miles (my range on one charge). Using a level 2 charger takes ~8 hours to charge meaning that if the battery gets close to zero, I need to stay in one location for at least 8 hours before I can make it back home. Nissan has not presented any workable solutions nor any kind of compensation for this considerable defect for over 1 year.

Oct 4, 2025

The following Nissan recall: NHTSA ID: 24V-700 NISSAN ID: R24B2 The issue was recognized in October of 2024, and owners of affected vehicles were advised not to use level 3 chargers, otherwise the battery cells could experience excessive lithium deposits, creating a risk of explosion. A fix was promised by November 2024, and then rescheduled to be done by spring of 2025 (Nissan's website still says March 2025 as date for remedy). Most recently, Nissan sent out a communication that the fix would be done by the "third quarter" of 2025. This is not only a safety hazard, as if someone forgets the recall, or is unaware of it, there is significant risk. On a practical level, I cannot undertake road trips with my vehicle, as the length of time it would take to recharge on level 2 simply is not logistically feasible. Even for daily commuting, I've had to spend considerable time the past year finding level 2 chargers and waiting for my vehicle to slowly charge. The length of time this has taken is excessive and Nissan should be either buying back all affected vehicles or else offering owners like myself significant settlement checks for the inconvenience.

Oct 3, 2025

Per NHTSA ID Number: 24V700000: Summary Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2019-2020 LEAF vehicles equipped with a Level 3 quick charging port. The lithium-ion battery may overheat during Level 3 charging. Remedy Owners are advised not to use Level 3 quick charging until the remedy is completed. Dealers will update the battery software, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed October 10, 2024. A second notice will be sent once the remedy becomes available, anticipated in Quarter 3 of 2025. This is a phased recall. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R24B2. It has been a year with no fix and no remedy in sight, and it is now Quarter 4 of 2025. Level 3 quick charging allows for longer roadtrips and the use of the car has been limited to only local driving since the recall was issued.

Sep 26, 2025

R24B2 Battery recall has been going on for a full year now with remedies being moved every time the date has been reached. Nissan refuses a buyback, but still has no solution to the no fast charging mandate. The car would NOT have been purchased if I had known there is essentially no level 3 charging on this car.

Sep 25, 2025

I have been waiting an entire year for Nissan to resolve the battery issue. I have purchased another house 240 miles away and I need to charge my leaf at least once to move it to my new home. If I fast charge the car it may catch fire and if it does this without the recall being resolved my insurance won't pay for the loss since Nissan has warned the car can not be fast charged. Waiting an entire year is not reasonable. Please force Nissan to resolve the recall by either a software update or battery replacement.

Nissan has issued a recall for the fast charging system on this vehicle in September, 2024. Over a year later, there has been no resolution to the charging issue. I live in a rural area where medical appointments, shopping and family activities are outside of the car's battery range. The lack of a solution has rendered my car useless for most times I would need a vehicle. This is my only car so I often need to carpool or borrow to get places.

Sep 22, 2025

I recently purchased a 2019 Nissan Leaf that is currently affected by NHTSA Recall Number 24V-700. This recall was initially issued on September 19, 2024, "instructing customers not to use Level 3 quick charging until the remedy is completed". The initial expectation of a corrective remedy was November 2024, which was later changed "Due to an unexpected delay in the final remedy software development" to Spring 2025. Today is September 22, 2025, over a full year from the date that the recall was initiated, and well beyond "Spring 2025", with no remedy available and I'm unable to safely use Level 3 quick charging. I believe this falls into the category of failing or unable "to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner" and Nissan needs to be held accountable for this safety issue that is preventing me from fully utilizing my vehicle as expected.

I purchased by 2019 Nissan leaf brand new from a Nissan dealership. My electric vehicle is our only vehicle and has been effectively disabled for out of town driving by a safety recall for the traction battery for nearly a year. Nissan continues to be unable to repair or resolve this safety recall and has offered no alternatives other than telling me not to fast charge the vehicle for fear of it catching fire. I have spent countless hours talking to a regional specialist and then being escalated to an executive specialist both of which offer no resolution. I want my vehicle repaired and returned to the originally purchased function or repurchased by Nissan. With the multiple delays in repairing this safety recall up to a year now I have no faith in Nissan to reach any satisfactory repair. I no longer want to own or drive this vehicle and the fault lays entirely with Nissan for their handling of this concern. I fear for my families safety when driving or using this vehicle because of the stated risk of electric battery fire. Nissan continues to have failed to offer any repair or inspection of the battery to determine our risk of a vehicle battery fire.

I am currently using a 2019 NISSAN LEAF electric vehicle and the vehicle is still under NISSAN's 7-year warranty. In September 2024, Nissan sent me a notice advising me to temporarily stop fast charging the vehicle to avoid overheating the battery and possibly exploding and wait for them to fix the vehicle charger. Two months later, Nissan continued to send me a new notice and continued to schedule me until spring 2025. I still trusted and waited for them, in June 25 Nissan sent me a third notice to wait until the third quarter of this 25. Up to now, more than 9 months have passed but they still do not have spare parts to replace my vehicle and I still do not know if Nissan will have spare parts for my vehicle by the end of the third quarter of this 25? in the past 9 months, i have had to spend a lot of time every time i need to charge my car. just because i don't have my own house so i have to take my car to the charging station and every time i charge i have to wait for about 5 hours. i don't understand what nissan wants now? ◦

Sep 5, 2025

I took my car in for a few recalls and was informed that the Manufacturer Recall Number R24B2/NHTSA Recall Number 24V-700 fix was not available. The recall has been in effect for 1 year now and there is still no remedy. This is affecting the ability to use the car to its fullest due to the safety risk associated with Level 3 quick charging. If I was to quick charge the car it could result in damage to the battery and even fire. I cannot sell the car either due to the recall. Please have Nissan make this right. They need to fix the issue or initiate a buyback.

My 2019 Nissan Leaf SV is under recall R24B2 for battery overheating risk during DC fast charging. Nissan has instructed owners not to use Level 3 fast charging until a remedy is available, but no fix has been provided for almost one year with continued delay in repair promise dates. Yesterday, I was unable to use a fast charger as needed, which forced me to wait several hours at a slower Level 2 charging station. This delay made it impossible to drive my Leaf for a planned Labor Day weekend trip to Amelia Island. Instead, we had to use my daughter’s car, since the Leaf could not meet our travel needs without fast charging. This ongoing situation shows significant loss of use and hardship. Fast charging is an essential function of an electric vehicle, and without it the car cannot perform as originally marketed. The prolonged lack of remedy (nearly a year since the recall was issued) is unacceptable and has left my vehicle restricted and unreliable. I request NHTSA take action to ensure Nissan provides a timely remedy or interim solution for affected Leaf owners. Attached is letter also sent to Nissan.

My 2019 Nissan Leaf (VIN: [XXX] ) has a known charging-related defect. The vehicle became undrivable on [XXX], due to its inability to charge. It had previously exhibited the same issue on [XXX]. The dealership (Grand Strand Nissan) has had the vehicle for over a week and has not been able to fix it. They are working with Nissan engineers but no repair or resolution has been found. The issue appears related to a known recall (R24B2), for which no fix is currently available. I have an open case with Nissan Consumer Affairs (XXX), and despite promises, I have not received a response from a regional case manager. The vehicle remains inoperable under warranty, creating a serious safety and mobility risk. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The open recall 24V-700 still has no remedy from the manufacturer; they keep pushing it back. It's been over 9 months since it was originally issued, and longer since they told me to stop using level 3 charging. A lack of level 3 charging means I cannot feasibly use this vehicle for longer trips. You state "If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or TTY: 1-888-275-9171 or file an online complaint with NHTSA." I don't consider Nissan's behavior to be "timely" in this matter.

My 2019 Nissan Leaf has been under recall since September 2024 (Recall #24V700000) due to being a fire hazard when using Level 3 chargers, also known as fast charging. I understand that issues can take time and specialized parts to resolve a recall. However, it is now 10 months later and Nissan still has no remedy to offer for this issue, leaving me unable to safely utilize this key feature. As a result of this delay, I have not been able to drive my vehicle on longer trips and instead make alternate arrangements like renting a vehicle at my own expense. This is also limiting my ability to sell or trade in the vehicle, which ultimately has diminished its value. While I have not suffered direct physical harm from Nissan's delay in resolving this recall, it has negatively impacted the quality and long-term value of the product.

Manufacturer recall for fire hazard when level 3 charging was supposed to be addressed by March 2025 and it is now July 2025.

2019 Nissan Leaf Battery Recall: 1 year out from recall announcement, still no repair is available, and it is unsafe to use fast charging for risk of fire. Nissan advertised repairs for recall coming in late 2024, then March 2025. It is now July 2025, and still no repair, and Nissan Corporate will not provide a financial remedy. Have spoken with Consumer Affairs, and they claim no obligation. Unable to use the car to travel longer distances (>45min away from home) because fast charging is unsafe. Consumer Affairs gave me run around. Called back 24 hours after initially promised, at 4 minutes before end of work day on a Friday. Once I finally spoke with the Consumer Affairs rep the next Tuesday, they claimed no obligation under my state's laws to remedy the issue. They refused to email the denial letter that contained this response to the issue and stated that I would have to wait for a physical copy to be sent in the mail 4-8 weeks later. I have gone to 2 Nissan dealerships in the last 2 weeks to attempt to get this recall repaired, and they all report the same issue. It is not possible to repair the battery because Nissan has not provided a solution. 1 year later, this "solution" is still in development. I do not have more time to wait. Moreover, I should be covered by the battery warranty up to 100k miles (I have 51k miles on car) and it does not expire until March 2027.

Nissan has stated since September 2024, that they’re working on a repair for my 2019 Nissan Leaf. The issue is that using a fast charge system could cause the battery to catch fire. Nissan states to not use these types of chargers. I just received my third or fourth recall notice from them stating that they are working on it and they keep pushing the date back. Estimated date now is third quarter of 2025. This issue severely limits how I can use my vehicle, which is used primarily to commute to work. My commute is 70 miles and I cannot make it back and forth on a full charge so I frequently need to fast charge the vehicle.

Recall R24B2 / NHTSA 24V-700 affects my 2019 Nissan LEAF. I received the initial notice in Oct 2024, warning me not to use DC fast charging due to fire risk. It’s now June 2025, and Nissan has failed to provide the promised software remedy. My vehicle remains partially unusable, and no timeline has been provided. I request NHTSA investigate this delay and compel Nissan to offer timely repair or replacement.

There has been a safety recall #24V-700 for my 2019 Nissan Leaf with regards to quick-charge ports due to potential fire risk with Level 3 charging. I have been waiting almost a year for this to be resolved. I want to sell my car. I am sure the fact there is a recall will prevent me from either selling it or getting a decent amount for it. I have spoken to a dealership and was told they are still waiting on the repair.

Purchased the vehicle used in December 2024, as Nissan had a remedy expected by March 2025. It is now June, and no remedy. This has become our primary car, and I'm having to fast charge it regularily to use it as we don't have a charger available at our rental house.

I received a recall notice from Nissan on 9/19/24. It stated: "Until your vehicle is remedied, do NOT use the level 3 quick charge port (CHAdeMO). ....... If quick charging continues, a battery fire may occur, increasing the risk of injury." I was told by your office that Nissan "expects" to have a remedy by this summer. That's nearly a year of very limited use of my Nissan Leaf, never mind the significant reduction in its resale value. It is a very very poor standard of responsibility by Nissan.

Reporting that, in September 2024, Nissan publicly suggested March 2025 would be the estimated timeline for recall service resolution. Now in May 2025, I'm still unable to use the Level 3 charging due to recall 24V-700. While driving, the car will fluctuate its battery percentage, similar to the report in NHTSA Recall 24V-700. While driving down the highway with 67%, it suddenly swung down to 10% displaying a "Battery charge is low Charge now" warning on the dash. My concern is that if I'd have had less charge after the swing in battery percentage, the car could have turned on it's "turtle mode" at highway speed on open freeway. My local dealer has confirmed that this is a similar concern to the one outlined in Nissan's recall r24b2 (NHTSA 24V-700), and should be resolved with that fix. I feel that this warrants updating the recall to include fluctuations occurring at speed as well. There are no warnings during the percentage swings while driving, only when it swung below the normal threshold for the "Battery charge is low. Charge now." warning did anything come up.

Door unlock motor that unlocks the passanger door failed. Known issue by Nissan. This is a well documented issue and causes issues in entering the vehicle from outside, even with the key. This can delay entry and cause issues, or cause issues during exit as the automatic door locks do not engage on the affected door.

Received a notification from Nissan Corporation that my 2019 Leaf is the subject of a safety recall concerning risk of lithium ion battery fire during Level 3 charging. The notice explains that the vehicle's lithium-ion battery may experience "excessive lithium deposits within certain battery cells which could increase electrical resistance and result in a fluctuation in the state of the charge." The notice explicitly cites that the battery may contain excessive lithium deposits but the potential remedy (it has not been issued yet) relates only to a softwear update to prevent rapid heating of the battery. However, there is no remedy planned or addressed to the problem of "excessive lithium deposits" which increase electrical resistance and the impact of that damage to the battery life, performance, deterioration or efficiency. The NHTSA report actually cites specific batteries installed in the Leaf model years implicated in the resulting safety recall. It is essential that NHTSA evaluate the impact of these batteries, the effect of excessive lithium deposits on the car's general safety and performance and the necessity of requiring full replacement of batteries damaged by this defect. The issue of damaged batteries is inextricably related to the safety recall and fire risk. As the problem of damaged batteries is confirmed by Nissan Corporation's Recall Notice and cited in the Defect Information Report filed by Nissan with NHTSA (which reference the specific battery components involved), these defective batteries should be subject to replacement.

Aug 13, 2024 Fire

On 7/19/2024 while charging the car at Chargepoint Johns Creek, I heard a "clunk" sound as if something had popped off from beneath the body of the Leaf. At the same time, the charging emergency stopped. Smoke started to come out from under the Leaf. There was a smell as if something was melting, making me feel dizzy and nauseous. I felt a sense of confusion from inhaling the smoke. Since both my son and I were outside the car, we were able to quickly pull away and escape as soon as the smoke started. If we had been inside the car, or if this had happened while driving, we might have been unable to escape in time, lost consciousness from the smoke, and possibly died in the fire. The smoke continued for about 15 minutes, followed by a fire. At the same time, there was a sound of something exploding. The police arrived, followed by the fire truck. It took a long time to extinguish the fire, possibly because the lithium battery caught fire. Please refer to the video. ⚪︎Mental and Physical Condition After the Accident Both my son and I are experiencing symptoms similar to PTSD. When we smell smoke or drive a car, we feel chills, nausea, and dizziness, which negatively affect our daily lives. This incident left burn scur to my son and has started having nightmares and crying at night. Seeing an electric vehicle scares us to the point that our bodies freeze and we can't move. Also, seeing fire or hearing car sounds suddenly makes us tremble, our hearts race, and we have difficulty breathing. We start crying uncontrollably in a panic, and it takes time to calm down. It is difficult to control our emotions. We are experiencing insomnia, likely due to the excitement of our nerves from the accident. We probably need mental treatment such as therapy and physical treatment to alleviate insomnia and tension.

During the last 3 winters I have noticed the car do something strange when going up an extended highway inclines. The battery % along with the estimated miles left will drop suddenly (~40% in a minute) and when I would go over the top of the hill most of the battery % and miles would return. During the 2021-2022 winter, I noticed this happen only once or twice. During 2022-2023 winter, I noticed this happen more often but I did not know what was causing it except it seemed to only happen on very cold days and also when the battery % prior to the drop was around 50% or less. During the current 2023-2024 winter, this issue became common. It no longer had to be very cold but just an extended incline and battery at 50% or less. It usually happened between exit [XXX] and exit [XXX] on [XXX] in New Jersey. It has become so common that I was able to record it. The videos show the car will lose over 40% of battery in about a minute. However, once I would go over the hill most of the battery % would come right back. In one video the “Battery charge is low Charge now” warning is triggered. On a few occasions, when I had around 30% of battery prior to going up this hill and the battery started to drop suddenly, I had to make a rapid emergency stop on the right shoulder midway up the hill. When stopped the battery would recover back to around 30% and I was able to get over the hill. This obviously created a safety concern. My car battery is still covered under Nissan’s EV battery warranty. I have taken the car to two 2 Nissan dealerships. One of the dealership was able to replicate the issue, but stated the only way they will approve the warranty repair is if they disassembles the battery. They stated once they approve the warranty repair they can order the battery but that it might take up to 8-9 months to get the battery. They stated that during this whole time my car will be inoperable and Nissan will not provide or reimburse for a loaner car. Total Battery Failure at 130,000 miles - Electric Vehicle will not operate

Feb 17, 2024

Brake warning sign came off and the car won't shift out of parking brake, causing the passenger to get stranded. Upon dealer inspection, there's defective wire hardness which has been noted in Nissan service bulletin Ref: NTB19-054a. Dealer confirmed that it is bulk wire harness issue and will require replacement (~$3.2K for part and labor). i have reported to Nissan since the leaf has 22k mileage only, but rejected by Nissan that it is a manufacturer issues. Please investigate this as i have seen many similar issues with other Leaf owners and it will be un-safe to have parking brake issue suddenly pops up, where it will brick and unable to move the vehicle. Thank you.

AFTER RECENTLY DOING THE RECALL UPDATE ON THE VEHICLE, I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE BATTERY PERCENTAGE LIGHT INDICATOR NOW SIGNIFICANTLY DROPS ITS PERCENTAGE SOMETIMES UPT TO 15% WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES DRIVING AT A CONSTANT SPEED AND THEN WHEN SLOWING OR COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE BATTERY PERCENTAGE WILL INCREASE BACK ANYWHERE BETWEEN 10 AND 15 PERCENT WHICH LEADS TO DECEIVING THE DRIVER AND MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO SAFETY MODE. CONTINUES TO OCCUR EVERY DAY I USE IT SINCE IT IS A COMMUTER VEHICLE FOR ME. Unable to updload a video. Please email me correspondence so i may send a video.

On 9/17, 2019 Nissan Leaf S 40 kWh lost braking power just after start up. I started the vehicle, placed the vehicle into drive and went to creep through open parking spot. The brake pedal was either dead or lost enough power to feel dead. The vehicle was returned to park in order to stop slow roll. No injuries or damages. Experience seems similar to NHTSA ID 11488058. I don’t recall whether any warning lights came on as I rushed to power down the car. No indicator lights illuminated after restart and vehicle drove home without issue. A few hours prior to brake issue, a humming/ringing sound was heard throughout the cabin just after shutdown. My passengers also observed the sound, which stopped after powering on the vehicle and turning the fan dial. This had not happened before and only occurred once. On 09/18, the vehicle indicated “Warning: Service EV System No Power”. Numerous warning lights were illuminated, a photo taken, and a tow truck scheduled. Two hours later, I went to check whether the vehicle could be placed into neutral. The vehicle started and went into gear without issue and no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealership for inspection as precaution. My 12V battery was the original battery, so I suspected it needed replacement and asked the dealership to test it. I have read online about other issues from Nissan Leaf owners when the 12V battery is deteriorated. Dealership confirmed 12V battery failed testing. They were not able to duplicate the brake issue described above. The only time that the vehicle provided a warning about the 12V battery was when it generated the warning described above once. Otherwise, no indication that battery needed replacement. Nissan needs to provide a system update to give the driver more specific 12V battery health information. Also address the 12V battery more clearly in maintenance schedule. Vehicle operating as expected with a new 12V battery installed.

Reverse camera is intermittently blank

Fron passenger lock has been faulty. Door will either latch or unlatch randomly. Dealership has reviewed and stated it is faulty but not their fault despite no evidence of driver responisbility. Car has various electrical issues including auto braking triggering and this lock issue is another example. Dealership is not ackolwedging issues.

Backup camera stopped working. There has been no damage or known circumstance that may have contributed to this failure.

Backup camera fails to display when in reverse. Dangerous reduced visibility of surroundings while reversing vehicle. Called dealership and they confirmed that my VIN is not on the recall list, but I am having the issue! They said I would be charged service to repair this federal safety requirement. Blank screen when entering Reverse mode.

1. The vehicle infotainment screen has been rebooting multiple times over the last few months while driving and the navigation maps screen goes black during the reboot, this is very distracting . 2. The navigation map turn by turn directions intermittently stops working independent of this reboot, causing missed turns, again distracting. 3. The rear camera video intermittently is grayed out instead of showing the rear camera video. I took the car to multiple dealers. The 1st dealer (Nissan of New Rochelle, NY; odometer @ approximately 18,470 miles) said unless the problem is repeatable while in for service there is nothing they can do about it. The other dealer (Star Nissan of Flushing, NY; odometer at 20,470 miles) did a AV software update. Since that AV update on 1/28/2022, Problem #1 and #3 so far have not returned. It may be too early to declare success since today is 2/16/2022. Problem #2 remains! I also noticed that when using Apple Car Play (using a USB wired connection to the Infotainment System) received phone call audio is poor and sounds like someone is gargling. If I switch the phone connection to wireless Bluetooth the audio quality is perfect, so it is not a carrier or phone connection to the network issue. This may be related to problem #2, where the navigation audio stops working. BTW When the Navigation audio stop working,I also lose the ability to change the radio audio. It shows it is changing visually from 0 to +40 on the screen, but the sound audio level remains unchanged. Usually if the car is turned off for more than an hour all returns to normal, at least initially until the next intermittent repeat of the issue. If I turn off the car and turn it back after only a minute or two, the audio problem remains the same.

The Backup Camera only works intermittently and if it is not working it will not begin working again unless the car is completely turned off and restarted. The failure seems more likely to occur if the car is started and then quickly put into reverse. The failure seems less likely to occur, but still does periodically, if the car is started and then not put into motion until 10-20 sec after the dash start-up graphics have finished. When the camera is failing the display is solid magenta colored with static-lines scrolling through it. The safety issue is that the rear camera cannot be used. We have not yet shown this problem to anyone else. There were no warning lights or alarms indicating a failure. The failure occurrence was very infrequent when we bought the car (new) in 2019, but now is happening at least 50% of the time that we back out of our garage.

Vehicle suddenly loses power while driving, no warnings prior to power loss. 1st incident vehicle lost power and all check engine lights came on. Unable to shift gears or accelerate. Towed to Nissan. This has happened twice again in the past week. Complete power loss while driving, have to coast to a stop and get towed again! 3 times total. Huge safety issue to be without power in the middle of the road. Nissan tried to “reset” it but this has not worked. The 3rd time we picked it up from service it happened again less than a mile away. Screens say “When parked apply parking brake” while I’m driving. Other screen said “Power Supply Failure. To avoid accident injury or death DO NOT DRIVE”. This car is dangerous.
