Please fix your auto fill --- it just erased everything! Anyway, the engine cuts out while driving in traffic. The engine cuts out while waiting at a red light. The engine cuts out while turning. It's ALL random! The engine code shows P0340, Bank 1 and Bank2, and sometimes P0345. I have replaced the camshaft position sensors FIVE times!!!!! I have tried both Auto Zone and Hitachi, and neither of them solves the problem. I also paid to have the crankshaft sensor below replaced, and that didn't help. I am told that this problem has been posted online and it was recommended to only use OEM parts. This is very dangerous to lose power while in traffic, and then having to wait until the engine will restart, which eventually it does. This is an ongoing problem. PLEASE help!!!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, ALL OF THE DOORS IMMEDIATELY LOCKED WITHOUT BEING PROMPTED BY THE KEY FOBIK. THE CONTACT HAD TO GET THE POLICE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY FOBIK BECAME INOPERATIVE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 168,000.

I NO THERE WAS A VOLUNTEER RECALL ON A COUPLE DIFFERENT PARTS OF THIS CAR , YET LOOKING AT THE VIN NUMBER DOESNT SHOW A RECALL NOW. I BOUGHT MY 5TH GEN MAXIMA AND SINCE THEN IVE HAD TO REPLACE THE CAMSHAFT SENSORS IN IT NOW 3 TIMES AN EVEN GOTTEN NEW CONNECTORS INSTALLED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IVE HAD MY CAR JUST SUDDENLY DIE IN TRAFFIC AS IM DRIVING OR SOON AS YOU TRY TO ACCELORATE IT DIES AND IS HARD TO RESTART.. ITS FRUSTRATING TO LOVE THE CAR AND CANT EVER SEEM TO GET IT RIGHT., IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAVE A PROBLEM. TAKATA RECALL DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS WERE BOTH DOWN ON 11/9/17 AROUND 8AM IN THE MORNING. BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOW WERE ALL THE WAY DOWN. I DID LEAVE THE DOORS UNLOCKED OR WINDOWS DOWN WHEN I WENT TO SLEEP. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY ON A REGULAR STREET PARKED OVER NIGHT.

I RECENTLY HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I HAD BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CAR ENGINE WOULD GET A LITTLE HOT, IT WOULD ALSO CUT OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT NOTICE, I HAD A COUPLE DIAGNOSIS DONE AND ALL POINTED TO MY CAMSHAFT SENSOR, IN WAS IN THE NATIONAL DATA BASE AS A RECALL, BUT BASE IN NORTH AMERICAN NISSAN MY VIN# IS ELIGIBLE FOR THAT CAMPAIGN THUS WILL NOT HELP FIX AN ISSUE I'VE ALREADY HAD TO REPAIR MORE THAN ONCE. AS VERIFIED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR SHUT THE CAR DOWN DURING OPERATION ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL IN 2003 (NOTICE OF WHICH WAS NEVER GIVEN TO ME) AND I FOUND TWO INDEPENDENT INTERNET REFERENCES TO A RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM (RECALL #33403), ONE OF WHICH CONTAINED A RANGE OF AFFECTED VIN'S THAT INCLUDED MY CAR. I SENT THE INFORMATION TO NISSAN WITH THE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION BUT WAS SUMMARILY REJECTED ON THE BASIS THAT MY VIN SIMPLY DID NOT APPEAR ON THEIR COMPUTER. I ASKED IF IT WAS BECAUSE THE RECALL WAS IN 2003, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE A REPLY. NISSAN REFUSED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART(S); CONSEQUENTLY, I HAD THE WORK PERFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. MY 2003 NISSAN MAXIMA GLE HAS HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE ABS AND THE TSC LIGHTS COMING ON. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER WHO RAN DIAGNOSTICS ON IT AND SAID IT WAS THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WHICH I HAD ALREADY REPLACED DUE TO AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING, OR THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PACKAGE. AS I AM FAIRLY MECHANICAL (FATHER WAS A MASTER MECHANIC) THIS DID NOT SEEM LOGICAL TO ME. THE SPEEDOMETER HAS NOW QUIT WORKING COMPLETELY AND THE TACHOMETER IS NOW HAVING INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. I HAVE ALSO CHANGED THE CAMSHAFT SENSORS. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE MORE ELECTRICAL THAN MECHANICAL--INSTRUMENTS ONLY RECORD WHAT SENSORS SEND TO THEM. IT HAS NOW STARTED DYING IN TRAFFIC WHICH SCARES ME AS I AM AFRAID I WILL HAVE AN ACCIDENT. THE DYING IN TRAFFIC PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. DUE TO A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT RECALL #03V455000 HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR MY MODEL YEAR NISSANS THAT WERE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE DYING DUE TO SOLDIER FLUX ON VARIABLE TIMING CONTROL SENSOR. UPON TAKING MY MAXIMA TO BE REPAIRED THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME OF THE RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WAS WITH SENSORS FOR THE CAM, PER THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS. HE THEN INFORMED ME THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER AS THIS WAS A RECALL SITUATION THAT NISSAN SHOULD FIX FOR FREE. UPON TAKING THE MAXIMA TO GURNEE NISSAN IN GURNEE ILLINOIS, I WAS CHARGED $65 DOLLARS FOR DIAGNOSTICS, QUOTED OVER $500 FOR THE REPAIRS AND VEHEMENTLY TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE 2003 MAXIMAS. I THEN CONTACT NISSAN, AFTER FINDING THE RECALL NOTICE ON THEIR WEBSITE AND A NUMBER TO CALL FOR ASSISTANCE. FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR AND HAVE RECEIVED NO ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN. WHILE I CAN FIND THE RECALL ON THEIR WEBSITE, PROVIDED THE NISSAN RECALL NUMBER FROM THE NISSAN WEBSITE, THEY CONTENDED FIRST IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, THEN IT WAS NOT A GOOD VIN, THEN THE VIN WAS GOOD BUT WAS OUTSIDE THE RANGE FOR THE RECALL, THEN IT WAS IN THE RANGE, BUT DID NOT QUALIFY AND FINALLY TODAY I WAS TOLD, "YOUR VIN IS NOT IN THE RANGE, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE RANGE OF VINS ARE." *TR

ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS; DURING WARRANTY PERIOD AND I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE THE DRIVER' S AND FRONT PASSENGER'S SEATS QUIT WORKING AND REQUIRED ELECTRICAL REPAIRS. THE POWER SUN ROOF ALSO QUIT WORKING AND REQUIRED ELECTRICAL REPAIRS DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD. MY CAR WAS NO LONGER COVERED BY WARRANTY, AND POWER WINDOWS HAVE NOW QUIT WORKING. I HAD SO MANY DIFFERENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR THAT I COULD NOT HELP BUT TO THINK THEY WEREALL CONNECTED TO THE SAME COMMON PROBLEM, AND IT MADE ME WONDER WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT. ALSO, DURING THE 2ND YEAR OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD, THE BATTERY WENT COMPLETELY DEAD FOR NO APPARENT REASON, AND IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, HOWEVER, THEY TOWED MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP , EARLY IN THE MORNING, AND YET HAD TO KEEP THE CAR OVER NIGHT. I DIDN'T KNOW IF REPAIRS TO WIRING WERE PERFORMED OR NOT, BUT THEY DIDN'T ADMIT TO ANY UNDERLYING ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, YET THEY COULDN'T EXPLAIN WHY THE BATTERY BECAME DEAD, OR WHY IT REQUIRED MORE THAN 24 HOURS TO REPLACE A DEAD BATTERY. ON JULY 11, MY INSURANCE AGENT CHECKED ON LINE WITH CARFAX ON THE HISTORY OF THIS CAR. PER CARFAX REPORT, MILEAGE AS OF DEC. 15, 2003 WAS 12,243 AND AS OF MARCH 2, 2004, IT WAS 12, 244. UPON CARFAX ADVICE, WE CAN EITHER NOTIFY YOUR OFFICE OR THE CALIFORNIA DEPT OF MOTOR VEHICLE. DMV ADVISED US TO BRING IT TO THE DEALER'S ATTENTION BECAUSE THEIR RECORDS ONLY SHOW 1 REGISTRATION UPON THE PURCHASE OF THE FIRST ORIGINAL BUYER. THEN, THE MILEAGE WAS 8 MILES. MY BATTERY/BRAKE LIGHTS WENT ON MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO AND THE ENGINE DIED WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. I LOST MY BRAKES AND STEERING AND ALMOST CAUSED A BIG ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY WITH SPEEDING CARS BEHIND ME GOING 55-65 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN BUT IT DIED AT THE ENTRANCE OF A ONE LANE ROAD LEADING TO THE FDR DRIVE IN NEW YORK CITY. WORSE IS THAT THERE A BIG CONSTRUCTION UNDER THE 59TH ST. BRIDGE AND I WAS STUCK RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS CONSTRUCTION AND CAUSED A MAJOR, MAJOR TRAFFIC FROM YORK AVENUE TILL FDR. I HAD TO BE PUSHED OUT OF FDR (AWDS CANNOT BE TOWED) AND HAD TO PAY THE TOW TRUCK. AFTER THAT I HAD TO CALL A FLATBED TO BRING MY CAR TO THE DEALER. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED LONG TIME AGO SO PEOPLE DO NOT GO THRU WHAT I WENT THRU. DO YOU HAVE TO WAIT TILL PEOPLE DIE ON THE HIGHWAY? THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WAS REPLACED BY DEALER SINCE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS CHARGED FOR THE NEW BATTERY! AND OF COURSE, I HAD TO PAY FOR THE TOWING.
