THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO POCATELLO NISSAN (1900 FLANDRO DR, POCATELLO, ID) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG CONTROL SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ALSO, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BACK MOVED BECAUSE THE SEAT FRAME WAS FRACTURED. THE SEAT WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. BACK IN APRIL MY MURANO WOULD TURN OFF WHETHER I WAS ACCELERATING OR JUST SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE BRAKE LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND VEHICLE WOULDNT START BACK UP, ENDED UP HAVING IT TOWED 3 DIFFERENT TIMES TO MECHANIC WHO COULDNT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG BECAUSE IT WASNT SHOWING ANY CODES SO FROM THERE HAD IT TOWED TO NEWTON NISSAN WHERE IT TOOK THEM 10 DAYS TO DIAGNOSE IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR (REPLACED BATTERY FIRST BUT THAT DIDNT WORK)ENDED UP GETTING THE NISSAN ALTERNATOR VERSUS AFTERMARKET FOR THE WARRANTY, GET IT BACK EVERYTHING IS FINE, NOW IN AUGUST ALTERNATOR FAILS OUT AGAIN, BACK TO NEWTON NISSAN WE GO, THE REPLACE "ALTERNATOR" AND WHEN I GET IT BACK POWER STEERING ISNT WORKING SO AFTER THE FIXED THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL IT STARTED SHUTTING OFF ON ME AGAIN LIKE THE VERY FIRST TIME. MEANWHILE IVE HAD TO PAY OVER $1000 FOR THE ALTERNATOR WORK WHICH WAS RECALLED HOWEVER MY VIN DIDNT FALL UNDER THE RECALL. ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND HOOD OF CAR ARE ALSO SO HOT YOU CANT TOUCH THEM EVEN AFTER JUST DRIVING 1 MILE IN 70 DEGREEE WEATHER HOWEVER THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ISNT RUNNING HIGH. NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS FLASHING ON AND OFF UPON STARTING. I TRIED CYCLING THE ENGINE NURMEROUS TIMES BUT THE LIGHT IS STILL ON. NISSAN SAID THEY WILL HAVE TO REPLACE WHOLE UNIT FOR $5000 BECAUSE THEY CANT PIN POINT AIRBAG ISSUE. AIRBAG ISSUE ISNT FIXED AND NOBODY CAN TELL ME IF I HAVE A WORKING AIR BAG OR NOT. MY AIRBAG LIGHTS FLASH CONTINUOUSLY SINCE ABOUT 2006 AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE SENSOR, ALSO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN GOES OFF. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID IT COULD BE SEVERAL THINGS FROM CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO AN EXHAUST ISSUE AND THAT IT WOULD BE TRIAL AND ERROR TO FIGURE OUT WHICH WOULD REMY THE PROBLEM. THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH AND WOULD KEEP FLASHING UNTIL YOU SHUT THE CAR OFF. WE TOOK THE MURANO TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC. HE PUT IT ON HIS COMPUTER SYSTEM AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH "DIAGNOSTIC MODULE WAS FAULTY". IT WOULD COST $800 FOR JUST THE PART AND 2 1/2 HOURS OF LABOR FOR A TOTAL OF $1093. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WERE NONE AT THE TIME AND WE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE MURANO TO AN AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALER FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. WE DID TAKE IT TO AN AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALER AN HOUR AND HALF AWAY. AFTER A $73 CHARGE, THEY TOLD US THE EXACT SAME THING! I THEN CONTACTED NISSAN AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T HELP US WITH THE COST OF THE REPAIR. I WOULD UNDERSTAND IF IT WAS SOMETHING THAT WE DIDN'T DO FOR MAINTENANCE, BUT IT WASN'T OUR FAULT THAT IT IS DEFECTIVE. I ASKED THEM IF THERE WAS GOING TO BE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID NOT AT THIS TIME. THEY HAD ALSO INFORMED ME IF WE WOULD HAVE IT FIXED AND THERE WOULD BE A RECALL, THEY WOULD REIMBURSE US FOR THE COST OF REPLACEMENT. I ASKED THEM IF THEY COULD SEND ME A DOCUMENTATION SO I WOULD HAVE PROOF THAT THEY WOULD DO THAT BUT I HAVEN'T SEE ANYTHING FROM THEM. YOU WOULD THINK THAT NISSAN WOULD TRY TO RECALL PROACTIVELY BEFORE THERE IS A NEGATIVE BACK LASH ON THEIR COMPANY. IT SEEMS THAT CARMAKERS OVERALL ARE BECOMING MORE PROACTIVE IN THEIR RECALLS, PULLING VEHICLES BACK AND REPLACING PARTS TO ADDRESS CONSUMER'S SAFETY CONCERNS, EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY NOT BE OFFICIALLY REQUIRED TO DO SO. I WAS HOPING THAT MAYBE YOU COULD HELP US WITH OUR PROBLEM. IT'S JUST ALOT OF MONEY TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT THEY CAN'T GUARANTEE WON'T FIX THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THAT I HAVE ALL OF THE WELL KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THE NISSAN MURANO. I GOT THE AIR BAG LIGHT THAT WON'T TURN OFF WHICH TO ME IS A MAJOR SAFETY AND VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I HEARD THAT IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS WON'T WORK. NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE OR MULTIPLE PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIFE BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY. ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE IS NONE OF DOOR ACTUATORS WORK INCLUDING THE REAR HATCH DOOR EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR THAT DOOR IS THE ONLY DOOR THAT UNLOCKS AND LOCKS WHICH I ALSO THINK IT'S ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. I ALSO HAVE THE BAD POWER STEERING RACK WHICH I MENTIONED A LOT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE STEERING HAS SO MUCH PLAY THAT ITS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE I WISH NISSAN WOULD STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND ADMIT THAT THESE SHOULD BE REPAIRED BECAUSE OF THEIR BAD ENGINEERING WITH THESE TRUCKS. *TR

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE DRIVER'S SEAT BRACKET HAS BROKEN. THE FIRST TIME, WE SHAMED THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TO FIX IT, BUT THIS WAS ONLY TEMPORARY AS THE SEAT HAS JUST BROKEN AGAIN. WE CONTACTED NISSAN BUT THEY SAID WE ARE ON OUR OWN. AIR BAG LIGHT IS SUPPOSEDLY LINKED TO THIS ISSUE AS WELL. ALSO CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT THIS AND ESCALATED ALL THE WAY TO NORTH AMERICAN HQ TO NO AVAIL. IT APPEARS THAT NISSAN WOULD RATHER TAKE THEIR CHANCES ON LAW SUITS THAN HAVE THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFELY DRIVE THEIR PRODUCTS. AFTER PURCHASING A 05 NISSAN MURANO, A MONTH LATER THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE AIRBAG MODULE WAS REPLACED AND SYSTEM WAS RESET. IN LATE 06 THE AIRBAG LIGHT START FLASHING AGAIN, THE DEALER RESET THE SYSTEM, WORKED FINE UNTIL OCT OF 08 AT THIS POINT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS ENDED. THEY RESET THE SYSTEM AND PULLED THE CODE FROM THE UNIT. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE AKA CLOCKSPRING CABLE IS FAULTY THAT IS THE REASON WHY THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS ON AT RANDOM TIMES. I WAS QUOTED A LITTLE OVER $2000 FOR THE REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE SINCE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS ENDED ASK TO TALK TO A MANAGER AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. ALSO ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALER THAT DAY THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, WHEN I CALLED THEM I WAS GIVEN THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO RESET THE AIRBAG LIGHT. I ASK THE IF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WILL WORK IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT AND WAS TOLD THEY CANT GUARANTEE IT WILL BUT IT SHOULD IF THE SYSTEM IS RESET AND THE LIGHT IS NOT ON. FROM THAT DAY TO NOW I HAVE TO RESET THE SYSTEM AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 2 WEEKS. THE OTHER ISSUE THAT I'VE HAD IS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SEALS LEAKING WITH CAUSES THE OIL LEVEL TO GET LOW AND MAKES IT LOUD AND INCREASES THE RPM WHILE DRIVING. I HAD THE SEAL REPLACED 3 TIMES, ONCE UNDER ORIGINAL WARRANTY, ONCE WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY AND JUST RECENTLY HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. AND AGAIN ASKED TO TALK TO A SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT THIS SINCE ITS THE SAME PART BEING REPLACED 3 TIMES, AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE SINCE THERE IS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR

ON LEAVING THE GARAGE WITHIN JUST A MILE, I MADE A LEFT TURN AND HEARD A CRUNCHING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND IT CAME BACK ON. I WENT STRAIT BACK AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX IT BUT THE (SECOND REPLACEMENT PART) WOULDN'T BE IN TILL THE NEXT DAY SO I WAS GIVEN A LOANER FOR ONE DAY. NOW IT'S BACK ON AGAIN. DUE TO THE HIGHLY CHROMED /CURVED DIPSTICK, GETTING AN ACCURATE OIL LEVEL READING IS NOT POSSIBLE AT ANY TIME, SO THE DIPSTICK HAS ONLY BEEN REMOVED THREE TIME SINCE PURCHASING IT AS IT IS A POINTLESS ENDEAVOR. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE SIGNIFYING A MALFUNCTION WITH THE AIR BAG SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THERE WERE 5 ESSENTIAL PARTS TO THE AIR BAG SYSTEM AND THEY WOULD ONLY REPLACE 1 PART. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE AIR BAG SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED ALL 5 PARTS OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM REPLACED HOWEVER, ONLY 1 PART COULD BE REPLACED PER VISIT.
