TAKARA RECALL : WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF AT RANDOM. WHEN THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF THE CAR IS PULLED ALONG THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND WILL START AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE, ALMOST CAUSING SERIOUS CRASHES.

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND THE ENGINE ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL AND WOULDN'T RESPOND BY GIVING IT GAS. THEN IT JUST LURCHED FORWARD ABRUBTLY AND BEGAN TO RUN NORMALLY. THEN AFTER ABOUT 2 MORE BLOCKS WHILE WE'RE GOING 45 MPH IT COMPLETELY STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A 3 LANE ROAD. THIS CAUSED THE CAR BEHIND ME TO ALMOST REAREND US BUT THE CARS BEHIND THEM ACTUALLY DID GET INTO A CRASH TRYING TO STOP FROM HITTING THEM. THANKFULLY A POLICE CAR WAS A FEW CARS BACK AND WAS ABLE TO PUT THEIR LIGHTS ON AND PUSH MY CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC BECAUSE WE COULDN'T EVEN GET OUT OF THE CAR WITH CARS WHIZZING PAST US ON BOTH SIDES. THANK GOD OR WE COULD'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN A MULTIPLE CAR CRASH AND ONE OF US COULD HAVE GOTTEN HURT. THIS HAPPENED ON 07/13/18. I PAID ABOUT $600 TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND FIX SOMETHING IN THE COOLING SYSTEM. NOW IT IS ONLY A MONTH LATER, 08/15/18, AND IT'S DONE IT AGAIN. IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A CONSTRUCTION ZONE DRIVING 35MPH WHILE TAKING MY CHILD TO SCHOOL CAUSING TRAFFIC TO BACK UP. THE CARS WERE DRIVING THROUGH THE CONSTRUCTION CONES/SIGNS TO OUR RIGHT ILLEGALLY OR THEY WERE DRIVING DOWN THE SHARED TURN LANE ON OUR LEFT TO GET AROUND ME. ABOUT 200 CARS DROVE PAST US WITHOUT BOTHERING TO OFFER HELP AND EVEN AFTER CALLING 911 FOR HELP, IT TOOK THEM ALMOST AN HOUR TO SHOW UP AND ONCE AGAIN HAD TO PUSH US OFF THE ROAD TO SAFETY. THIS IS CREATING A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I SAW RECALL 09V169000 FOR SIMILAR OR SAME ISSUE FOR MY MODEL/YEAR BUT WHEN I LOOK UP MY VIN IT SAYS I HAVE NO RECALLS. I HAD SPENT ALMOST $1300 ABOUT 3-4 YRS AGO TO FIX THIS VERY SAME "STALLING WHILE DRIVING" ISSUE AND THOUGHT I WAS PAST ALL THIS. NOW I'M BACK TO SQUARE 1 AND ISSUE STILL EXISTS! WHY IS THIS NISSAN MURANO FLAW NOT COVERED FOR ALL MURANO'S WITH THIS PROBLEM? PEASE RESEARCH MY VIN# AND SEE IF IT CAN BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BEFORE ONE OF US GETS SERIOUSLY HURT?

I BOUGHT MY 05 MURANO FROM THE DEALERSHIP FOR $6000 AND I ONLY DROVE IT FOR 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE ALTERNATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT. I PAID $600 FOR THE ALTERNATOR TO BE REPAIRED AND 2 WEEKS LATER THE TRANSMISSION WENT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT WOULD COST ME $4200 TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION. THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY SORT OF DISCOUNT. I GOT 3 MONTHS OUT OF A $6000+ DOLLAR CAR. I AM SO UPSET THIS HAS CAUSED SO MANY PROBLEMS IN MY LIFE IN SO MANY WAYS. I CAN'T BELIEVE NISSAN IS MORALLY OK WITH RIPPING ME OFF LIKE THIS.

I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS AND PRESS ALL THE WAY DOWN WHERE IT SLOWLY MOVES, PICK UP A SPEED AND DO THE SAME THING FOR EACH STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC STOP LIGHT. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT MAKES A SCREECHING SOUND. IF ABLE TO DRIVE, STEERING WHEEL SOMETIMES HAVE THAT SLIGHT SHAKING. WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES FOR MORE THAN A YEAR NOW. TODAY I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WAS STOP AT STOPLIGHT WENT TO TAKE OFF AND IT STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY MOVE IT FORM THE ROAD AND IT WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 5 MPH, SO I TURNED IT OFF THEN BACK ON IT STARTED TO DRIVE FINE I DIDN'T TAKE ANY CHANCES HAD IT TOWED TO A FRIENDS REPAIR SHOP WERE CHECKED THE CODES AND IT WAS ALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A HUGE WRECK AS THE ROAD I WAS ON IS EXTREMELY BUSY. THIS VERY UNSAFE FOR NISSAN NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT.

TWO MONTHS WITH THE VEHICLE AND I HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, WHERE THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND DRIVE-ABILITY, BRINGING MY PASSENGERS AND MYSELF TO A HARMS WAY. I CONTRACTED AAMCO TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, ONE MONTH LATER, NISSAN USA HAD TO PROVIDE ANOTHER TRANSMISSION TO REPLACE THE ONE CHANGED ONE MONTH BEFORE. LAST MONDAY, JULY 06, 2015, WHILE DRIVING ON THE NEW JERSEY GARDEN STATE PARKWAY, THE VEHICLE PRESENTED SERIOUS TROUBLE, WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, AWD AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AS THE VEHICLE LOST SPEED, TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED, PUTTING MY WIFE, MYSELF AND OTHER VEHICLES AROUND US IN SERIOUS RISK OF ACCIDENT. I MANAGED TO PULL THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER AND LATER TO A NEAR BY FRIEND`S HOUSE IN THE GALLOWAY AREA. AFTER CONTACTING NISSAN USA REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION, THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT AAMCO, SINCE THEY INSTALLED THE NEW TRANSMISSION. AAMCO CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND OUT THAT, THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY THE ALTERNATOR THAT HEATED UP, DROPPED VOLTAGE TO 12V DC AND CAUSED THE SAFE MODE TO ENGAGE, BY MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE ON THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. NISSAN USA CLAIMS THAT THIS NHTSA CAMPAIGN HAS BEEN CLOSED, WHEN IT IS TO MY BELIEVE THAT, IT SHOULD BE RE-OPENED AND NOT ONLY ME, BUT ALSO MANY OTHER NISSAN MURANO OWNERS, THAT STILL CONFRONT SUCH FACTORY DEFECTIVE ISSUES TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. I BROUGHT IT IN, AND THEY VERIFIED IT AND REPLACED IT. 3 DAYS LATER MY CVT STARTED TO GIVE ME SIMILAR ISSUES AGAIN. SO I BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY TOLD ME THEY MAY RE WORK ON IT. NOW I GET IT BACK AND RIDE THE CAR FOR ANOTHER 2 DAYS AND NOW I HEAR A LOUD CLICKING NOISE. NOW I HAD TO GET IT TOWED BACK TO KINGS NISSAN IN BROOKLYN NY. THIS TIME THEY TELL ME IT WAS A MESSED UP TCU COMPUTER ON THE REPLACED CVT, AND NOW A TRANSFER CASE. UPON FURTHER REVIEW ONLINE. IT SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE TONS OF PEOPLE LIKE MY SELF GOING THROUGH THIS ISSUE AND NISSAN WONT TAKE OWNERSHIP OF IT.

THE DRIVER SIDE TRANS-AXLE SLID OUT OF IT'S LOCKED POSITION IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE AXLE SEAL/GASKET WAS REPLACES 3MONTHS PRIOR ON THE DRIVERSIDE. UP ON DISASSEMBLY, THE DEALERSHIP MASTER TRANSMISSION MECHANIC WAS BAFFLED AS TO HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED AS HE PUTS IT "YPU WOULD NEED A GREAT FORCE TO PULL IT OUT ONCE IT WAS IN LOCKED POSITION. ALL OF THE COMPONENTS WERE EXAMINED AND SEEM TO BE ALL IN GOOD CONDITION AS FAR AS WEAR ON THE THREADS ANS WELL AS THE LOCKING CLIP. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THIS WAS A FAILURE OF PRODUCT DESIGN AND NOT THE FAULT OF IMPROPER INSTALLATION AND THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE LET TO A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AT HIGH SPEEDS AND MAY HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERE ACCIDENT. *TR

MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO BEGAN EXHIBITING A STRONG BURNING OIL SMELL APPROXIMATELY AUGUST 2013 AND I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. THEY SAID A SEAL IN THE FRONT TRANSFER CASE WAS BAD AND REPLACED IT FOR A TUNE OF $1800. IN AUG 2014 IT BEGAN DOING IT AGAIN AND MUCH STRONGER. THEY REPLACED THE SEAL AGAIN AT NO CHARGE TO ME BUT THEN I TOOK IT BACK 2 WEEKS LATER FOR THEM TO INSPECT THE REPAIR. THE TRANSFER CASE WAS CRACKED ALL ALONG BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO SEE IT BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF OIL THAT HAD BEEN LEAKING ALL OVER THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CASE. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSFER CASE REPLACED IN SEPTEMBER TO A TUNE OF $3488+. I FOUND OUT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO MURANOS FROM 2003 TO 2012 AND AM VERY UNHAPPY THAT NISSAN HAS NOT MADE THIS A RECALL ON THEIR CVT TRANSFER CASES. OBVIOUSLY THE MOLD OF THE CASE IS FLAWED WITH THIS HAPPENING TO SO MANY YEARS OF MURANO'S AND I AM NOT EVEN SURE THE NEW TRANSFER CASE I RECEIVED IS GOING TO BE ANY BETTER SINCE I FIND EVIDENCE THAT OWNERS OF AS LATE AS 2012 MURANO'S ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FATIGUE CRACK OCCURRED AT THE TRANSFER CASE. AS AN ENGINEER, I SUSPECT THAT THE CONTINUOUS VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) PROBLEMS IN THE MURANO CAUSED THE FAILURE AT THE TRANSFER CASE. MORE THAN LIKELY, THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT DO PROPER FATIGUE TESTING OR "TURNED AN EYE" AT THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS, AS THEY HAVE TAKEN STEPS TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY IN THE CVT, YET REFUSE TO RECALL OTHER COMPONENTS DIRECTLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE CVT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE AMONG MANY NISSAN OWNERS AS I HAVE READ. ANYHOW, A FAILURE IN THE TRANSFER CASE IS A EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. NO RECALL NO HELP GETTING CAR CREDIT, AS IT IS VALUELESS IN TRADE AT DEALER. FORTUNATE THAT MINE SEEMED TO LAST LONGER THAN MOST. COST 4 TO 6 THOUSAND TO FIX... MORE THAN CAR IS WORTH AT THIS POINT. LEFT WITH NO WAY GETTING RID OF IT OR GETTING NEW VEHICLE. CAR THAT I THOUGHT WOULD HAVE GOOD TRADE IN VALUE ABSOLUTELY NO ONE WANTS TO TOUCH. BEEN OFFERED 1000 MAX FOR IT AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT DEALERS. SHOCKED THAT A COMPANY SIZE OF NISSAN WOULD NOT WORK WITH THERE CUSTOMERS... AT LEAST OFFERING REASONABLE COMPENSATION FOR CURRENT VALUE OF VEHICLE. IM SURE NISSAN WILL NEVER BE CONSIDERED IN MY CAR BUYING DECISIONS AGAIN. WAS DIAGNOSED AT GOODYEAR AND THEY CALLED NISSAN TO SEE ABOUT THE PARTS AND FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS COVERED BY MANUFACTURE WARRANTY - SO I HAD IT TOWED ON A FLAT BED TRUCK TO NISSAN IN DENVER. GOODYEAR HAD DRAINED THE FLUIDS TO TAKE IT APART DURING DIAGNOSIS AND SENT THE PARTS AND THE CAR ON THE TOW TRUCK TO THE GO NISSAN SHOP. THEY FOUND A NUMBER OF OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AT THE NISSAN SHOP WHICH THEY SAID WERE NOT COVERED - SUCH AS- CAM SHAFT SENSORS,DRIVE BELTS,HEAD GASKET. THAT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME BECAUSE IT WAS DELIVERED THERE WITH NO FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION AT ALL. THEY SAID, YA, WELL.. WE SAW SOME PURPLE SUBSTANCE IN THE CUP WITH THE PARTS THAT WERE DELIVERED AND WE WILL NOT COVER IT BECAUSE OF THAT CONTAMINATION... MY TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE BEGAN BEHAVING ERRATICALLY. THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL IMMEDIATELY AND SEEMED TO WORK VERY HARD TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. THE ERRATIC BEHAVIOR WAS THEN ACCOMPANIED BY WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A PLANE LANDING THEN A LOUD BANG. THE BEHAVIOR OF THE TRANSMISSION CAUSED THE TRANSFER CASE TO FRACTURE. (THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY MY MECHANIC AND AGAIN BY THE NISSAN DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT). NISSAN HAS RECOGNIZED THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN A NUMBER OF ITS MODELS INCLUDING THE 2005 MURANO. AS A RESULT, NISSAN VEHICLES RANGING IN YEARS FROM 2003-2010 EQUIPPED WITH A CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) HAVE RECEIVED A 10-YEAR /120,000 MILE CVT LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENSION. UNFORTUNATELY THIS EXTENSION'' ONLY COVERS THE TRANSMISSION ITSELF AND NOT THE PARTS AROUND IT. I AM STUCK PAYING THE $3,400 TO REPLACE THE TRANSFER CASE OR BE FORCED TO SELL THE CAR. NISSAN IS LEAVING THE ORIGINAL CVT IN MY MURANO AND I WILL UNDOUBTEDLY BE IN THE SHOP PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR ANOTHER BREAKAGE THAT COULD BE AVOIDED BY A RECALL. I RAISED THIS ISSUE WITH NISSAN CORPORATE AFFAIRS AND WAS PROMPTLY TOLD THAT THE TRANSFER CASE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED CVT WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT BE ASSISTING FINANCIALLY. THEY DID HOWEVER OFFER ME A $150 VOUCHER OFF OF THE INVOICED PRICE OF NEW NISSAN VEHICLE. THIS RESPONSE IS LAUGHABLE AND VERY INSULTING. I AM VERY INTERESTED IN BECOMING INVOLVED IN ANY LEGAL ACTIONS THAT WILL HASTEN A RECALL SO THAT OTHERS WILL NOT BE BURDENED BY THIS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND FINANCIALLY FLEECED BY NISSAN CORPORATION AMIDST AN ECONOMIC RECESSION. MY HEART JUST DROPPED AND IT'S A GOOD THING THAT HE SAID THEY WILL PLACE AN ORDER AND REPLACED THIS WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION AND I WOULD NOT HAVE MY CAR BACK (NOT SURE WHEN). I PAID $90.00 FOR TOW SERVICES AND DON'T HAVE A CAR UNTIL WHEN TO GET TO WORK. THIS IS HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND NOT RIGHT THAT THIS HAPPENS TO US. NISSAN DID NOT COVER IT WHILE THE DEALERSHIP REPAIR MANAGER DID SAY IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND NOT MY FAULT. IN FACT, MY CAR REPAIR PERSON HAS SAID IT IS 1/5TH THE SIZE OF A TRANSFER CASE OF A JEEP CHEROKEE, A CAR THE SAME SIZE OF MY MURANO. THEREFORE, IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT. THE CVT NOW IS NEEDING REPAIR. THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 170000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

AFTER PURCHASING A 05 NISSAN MURANO, A MONTH LATER THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE AIRBAG MODULE WAS REPLACED AND SYSTEM WAS RESET. IN LATE 06 THE AIRBAG LIGHT START FLASHING AGAIN, THE DEALER RESET THE SYSTEM, WORKED FINE UNTIL OCT OF 08 AT THIS POINT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS ENDED. THEY RESET THE SYSTEM AND PULLED THE CODE FROM THE UNIT. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE AKA CLOCKSPRING CABLE IS FAULTY THAT IS THE REASON WHY THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS ON AT RANDOM TIMES. I WAS QUOTED A LITTLE OVER $2000 FOR THE REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE SINCE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS ENDED ASK TO TALK TO A MANAGER AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. ALSO ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALER THAT DAY THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, WHEN I CALLED THEM I WAS GIVEN THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO RESET THE AIRBAG LIGHT. I ASK THE IF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WILL WORK IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT AND WAS TOLD THEY CANT GUARANTEE IT WILL BUT IT SHOULD IF THE SYSTEM IS RESET AND THE LIGHT IS NOT ON. FROM THAT DAY TO NOW I HAVE TO RESET THE SYSTEM AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 2 WEEKS. THE OTHER ISSUE THAT I'VE HAD IS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SEALS LEAKING WITH CAUSES THE OIL LEVEL TO GET LOW AND MAKES IT LOUD AND INCREASES THE RPM WHILE DRIVING. I HAD THE SEAL REPLACED 3 TIMES, ONCE UNDER ORIGINAL WARRANTY, ONCE WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY AND JUST RECENTLY HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. AFTER LOOKING INTO THIS PROBLEM I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO THEM. I THINK NISSAN HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR THAT THEY ARE NOT ADDRESSING. DUE TO THE TIGHT QUARTERS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND VERY COLD TEMPERATURES, I WAS NOT ABLE TO INVESTIGATE VERY MUCH. IT WAS OBVIOUS THE NOISE OCCURRED ONLY UNDER LOADS. NISSAN INVESTIGATED THE FOLLOWING DAY AND INFORMED US THE IDLER PULLEY BRACKET HAD A CRACK AND AS A RESULT IT TORE INTO THE BELTS. NISSAN STATED IT NEEDED TO BE FIXED BECAUSE IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH THE BRACKET BEING CRACKED. BOTH THE BRACKET AND BELTS NEEDED REPLACEMENT ASAP ($400). THE CAR HAS AN EXISTING POWERTRAIN AND BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, NEITHER OF WHICH COVERED THIS. IN ADDITION, NISSAN SAID THIS HAPPENS ONCE AND AWHILE SO I LOOKED THE ISSUE UP ONLINE AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS. IN ADDITION, IT APPEARS THIS FAIL RESULTS MORE OFTEN IN CARS THAT HAD THE ALTERNATOR RECALL REPAIRED AND IN DOING THAT REPAIR, THIS BRACKET IS EITHER DAMAGED OR TORQUED TOO TIGHTLY BACK IN PLACE. HAD THIS PIECE COMPLETELY BROKEN WHILE DRIVING, WE COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. NISSAN SHOULD REPLACE THESE BRACKETS CONSIDERING THEY CLAIM IT "DOES OCCUR", IT "CAN'T BE DRIVEN SAFELY" WITH IT BEING CRACKED. NEXT MORNING TOWED TO DEALERSHIP; REPORT IS A CODE U1000 - ELECTRICAL AND GROUND WIRE PROBLEM. TSB PROCEDURE FOLLOWED BASED ON THE CODE. HOWEVER, TSB SAYS IT APPLIES TO THE CODE ONLY WHEN NO MALFUNCTION INDICATORS LIGHTS ARE ON. THEREFORE, I DO NOT BELIEVE PROBLEM IS FIXED. ALSO, SINCE THEN A VIBRATION IS DETECTED THROUGH THE GAS PEDAL WHEN ACCELERATING. SERVICE MANAGER AND TECH TEST DROVE AND STATED THERE WAS SOMETHING DETECTED BUT NO FIX SINCE THERE IS NO TSB FOR THIS KIND OF PROBLEM.

DT: THE WINDSHIELD IS DISTORTED. THE GLASS IS WAVY, AND IT IS HARD TO SEE OUT OF. THE WINDSHIELD THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE OUTER SIDES OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE PROBLEM ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING IT. THIS OCCURRED ON APRIL 5, 2005. I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MURANO WHICH IS TWO WHEEL DRIVE WITH THE CTV TRANSMISSION. WE WERE COMING BACK FROM VACATION FROM COLORADO WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTED. SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE TRIP WHEN WE WERE COMING DOWN A HILL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE CAR WOULD TRY TO MAINTAIN THE SELECTED SPEED HOWEVER IF THE HILL WAS A LITTLE TO BIG IT WOULD TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL IT SELF. WE WERE JUST SOUTH OF SAN ANTONIO THE LAST TIME THAT IT HAD TURNED OFF THE THE CRUISE. THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN IT TURNED OFF THE CRUISE IT ALSO DISABLED THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS RATHER SCARY AS WE WERE DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN IT DID IT. WE WERE COMING DOWN A HILL WHEN THE CRUISE TURNED IT SELF OFF AND IN THE PROCESS THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE LANE. ALL WE COULD DO WAS TURN ON THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL AND HOPE NO ONE WOULD HIT US. ONCE WE HAD GOTTEN TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED I HAD REALIZED THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T RESPOND. I HAD PUT IT IN PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T RESPOND. I FIGURED IF I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED IT THAT MAYBE IT WOULD RESET WHATEVER WAS WRONG. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE WHOLE DASH LIT UP. ONE BY ONE THE LIGHTS HAD GONE OUT EXCEPT THE "SERVICE THE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT. HOWEVER THE TRANSMISSION WORKED AND HAS WORKED SINCE. BY THE TIME WE HAD GOTTEN HOME AND GOTTEN AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT IN TO A NISSAN DEALER THE LIGHT HAD GONE OUT. WE HAD TAKEN IT TO THE CHARLIE CLARK NISSAN IN HARLINGEN TEXAS AND THEY HAD IT FOR TWO DAYS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. THE REASON THEY DIDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM IS THAT WE HAVE NO HILLS AS WE LIVE IN THE VALLEY AND THERE ARE NO HILLS HERE. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD CHECKED EVERYTHING THAT COULD CAUSE THE PROBLEM AND EVERYTHING WAS TO SPECIFICATION. SO NOTHING WAS ADJUSTED , OR REPLACED SO AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE AND THE NEXT TIME WE GET INTO THE HILL COUNTRY IT WILL PROBABLY ACT UP AGAIN.
