this is the second transmission i have put in this.. these cvt's are complete garbage and nissan is aware of it. Stand behind your product for once and replace this transmission on your dime. Will drive perfect sometimes and then randomly 3k-5k rpms and wont shift. sometimes i can shut it off and restart it and it will work fine again. sometimes it wont and i have to drive around with excessively high rpms. Also what is this annoying air suction noise i hear under throttle, sounds like an intake or blow off valve. there are zero vaccum leaks,

IN RESEARCHING THESE, I FOUND MANY COMPLAINT TRAILS CONCERNING THESE TRANSMISSIONS AND VARIOUS RELATED CODES. NISSAN'S ANSWER IS ALWAYS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT HIGH COSTS TO OWNER. MINE CONTINUES TO RUN BUT IN A KIND OF CRIPPLED MODE CALLED "SAFE MODE" THAT IS AN ATTEMPT TO REDUCE MAJOR TRANSMISSION DAMAGES. CODES OCCURRED DURING DRIVING ON SIDE STREETS UNDER 45 MPH. VEHICLE CAN NO LONGER BE USED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS THE "SAFE MODE" LIMITS RPM AND SPEED.

WE FIRST STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION COILS AND SPARK PLUG GOING BAD, CAUSING OUR CAR TO STOP AND SHAKE. HAD THEM REPLACED AND A MONTH LATER THE CAR STARTED MAKING AN UNGODLY RATTLE NOISE. AND SAID UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME. BEFORE MY AXLE AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM WENT OUT MID DRIVE. AND I SHOULD CONTACT YOU BECAUSE THIS WAS NISSAN ISSUE TO FIX. NEITHER SERVICE MANAGER OR SERVICE COORDINATOR HAS SEEN ONE WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NISSAN ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO REPORTED THAT THERE TWO CLAMPS ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM THAT WERE RUSTED AND FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 51,100.

AFTER TAKING IT TO A FEW SHOPS WHO SAID IT MIGHT BE THE CVT TRANSMISSION THAT WAS COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SINCE SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD ISSUES, I WENT AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEIR DIAGNOSIS WAS A ELECTRONIC COUPLER ASSEMBLY FAILURE WHICH HAS TO DO WITH MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THE CAR IS NOT BALANCING THE LOAD PROPERLY AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. THERE IS A 2 MONTH WAITING LIST FOR THIS PART BECAUSE IT HAS GONE BAD IN SO MANY NISSAN VEHICLES. YET THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL AND NO EXTENDED WARRANTY PUT ON IT. THE VEHICLE IS SAID TO BE RELATIVELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE BUT THEY ARE MONTHS OUT ON GETTING PARTS IN FOR IT TO BE FIXED. *JS
A FEW DAYS BEFORE AUG 31ST THE MURANO STARTED SLIPPING GEARS. IT WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP ON AUG 31ST WHERE THE ERROR CODE, STEPPER CODE, CAME UP WHICH IS PART OF THE CVT, THE TRANSMISSION. THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION, UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED THE VALVE BODY AGAIN, THE CONTROL MODULE, AND THE WIRE HARNESS, NONE OF WHICH HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM. WE ARE 10 WEEKS IN THE SHOP AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. A NISSAN ENGINEER IS NOW COMING OUT TO LOOK AT IT WANTING TO REPLACE THE VALVE BODY FOR THE THIRD TIME. THEY HAVE REPLACED THIS NOW GOING ON THREE TIMES WITH NEW PARTS AND IT IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM. THIS CAR IS NOT A SAFE CAR TO DRIVE ANYMORE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME LAST WEEK THAT WE WOULD HAVE RESOLUTION, WHETHER THIS WAS A BUYBACK OR WHATEVER BY LAST FRIDAY. LAST FRIDAY THEY CALLED AND NOW THEY ARE NOW FLYING IN AN ENGINEER, THIS IS NOT A RESOLUTION. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ESPECIALLY WITH TWO SMALL CHILDREN. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW ON FEB 23, 2006, IT HAS HAD NUMEROUS MECHANICAL DEFECTS FROM DAY ONE. IN THE LAST 2 YEARS I HAVE SPENT OVER $ FOR REPAIRS AND LAST MONTH I BROUGHT TO THE DEALER FOR THESE PROBLEMS AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE VEHICLE HAD MORE REPAIRS THAT IT NEEDED COSTING $2500.00. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHICH THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. 2006 NISSAN MURANO, AFTER DRIVING 85 MILES CONTINUOUSLY ON THE INTERSTATE, WHEN I SLOWED TO MERGE TO ANOTHER INTERSTATE LOST ALL POWER WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. I WAS STOPPED WITH NO EMERGENCY LANE IN A CONSTRUCTION AREA AND WAS LUCKY TO HAVE AVOIDED THE OTHERS MERGING AND TRAVELING BY AT 70 M.P.H.! IT EVENTUALLY GAVE ME SOME POWER WHICH I USED TO EXIT THE INTERSTATE AND CALLED THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER IN DES MOINES. I WAS ABLE TO "LIMP" THE CAR THE 20 MINUTE DRIVE ON BACK ROADS IN DES MOINES WHERE WITHIN AN HOUR, THE DEALER TOLD ME I WOULD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. AFTER NISSAN EXTENDS THE WARRANTY ON THIS TRANSMISSION AND I HAVE A FAILED ONE, IT STRIKES ME THAT A REPAIR/RECALL SHOULD BE DONE ON THESE BEFORE AN INCIDENT LIKE MINE OCCURS. I HAD THREE CHILDREN IN THE CAR, WITH OTHER CARS RACING BY ME AT HIGH SPEEDS, AND I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO NOT HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. MY 06 MURANO SL BEGAN TO LOSE PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL AND STALL. AT FIRST IT FELT LIKE SOMEONE HAD BUMPED INTO ME, BUT AFTER NOTICING THAT THE CAR BEHIND ME HAD NOT. I TRIED TO MOVE ON WITH THE TRAFFIC. I PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE BY USING THE GAS PEDAL. THEN MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIVE ON ITS OWN LUCKY FOR ME THE TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME BEGAN TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WHILE I TRIED TO MOVE OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. I PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND THEN IN DRIVE. WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL IT WOULD NOT MOVE ONCE AGAIN EVEN WHEN PRESSING THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. I TRIED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE WHILE IN THE LOWER GEAR AND SECOND GEAR JUST TO GET OUT THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND IT STILL WOULD NOT MOVE. THEN OUT OF KNOW WHERE IT BEGAN TO DRIVE ON ITS OWN AGAIN WITHOUT ME PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. THAT ALLOWED ME TO MAKE IT OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. AGAIN LUCKY FOR ME I WAS ABLE TO MAKE MY WAY THROUGH THE STAND STILL TRAFFIC. ONCE IN THE EMERGENCY LANE THE VEHICLE STOPPED. I PUT IT IN PARK THEN PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP. THEN I THOUGHT OK IT WILL MOVE NOW, BUT THEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIVE ITSELF IN REVERSE WHILE IN THE DRIVE POSITION. I CALLED MY MOTOR CLUB AND HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT TWO OF MY TRANSMISSION HOSES BLEW AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ITS FLUID AND IT WOULD COST ME $711 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM NOT INCLUDING ANY DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. NOW THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO SAY THAT I HAVE A LEAK AT MY ENGINE RUBBER O RING. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT MY VEHICLE HAS 82K MILES. ALTHOUGH I HAVE QUITE A FEW MILES ON MY VEHICLE I HAVE MAINTAINED ALL OF MY REQUIRED MAINTENANCE AS SCHEDULED. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THE VEHICLE STALLING AND DRIVING ON ITS OWN. SINCE LESS THAN 5K MI, THE CAR DOES 2 THINGS THAT MAY BE IN RELATION TO EACH OTHER: 1) WHEN DRIVING AT CONSTANT SPEED ON FLAT ROAD BETWEEN 40 & 70+ MPH, THE RPM'S WILL JUMP UP 500-1000RPMS FOR A BRIEF MOMENT- ALMOST FEELS AND SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE IS SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR AND THEN BACK IN. OR COULD BE THAT IT DETECTS A SLIGHT PRESSURE ON PEDAL (LINKAGE/SENDER WHATEVER) AND DOWNSHIFTS THEN JUMPS BACK DOWN? IT DOES THIS WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AS WELL. 2) ALSO, ACCELERATION IS SLUGGISH WHEN LEISURELY PROCEEDING FROM A STOP, OR VERY SLOW SPEED (SAY MAKING A 90 DEGREE TURN FROM A STOP OF SLOW PACE). WHILE PUSHING ON PEDAL, RPMS AND ENGINE WILL ACTUALLY DECREASE TO ABOUT 1000-1500RPS CAUSING CAR TO LAG (BIG SAFETY ISSUE FOR I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT BY OTHER CARS DUE TO THIS). DOES NOT DO IF I DO A HARD ACCELERATE (BUT I DON'T DRIVE THAT WAY...JACK RABBIT STARTS). DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED #1 AND REPLACED TRANNY. STILL DID IT BOTH PROBLEMS. DEALERSHIP REPLACED COMPUTER FOR TRANNY. STILL DOES BOTH, BUT #1 DOES NOT HAPPEN AS OFTEN (USED TO HAPPEN 3+ TIMES IN A 15 MINUTE PERIOD OF LESS, NOT DOES 1-3X PER HOUR MAYBE- I HAVE STOPPED TRACKING). I LET THE DEALERSHIP KNOW WHEN I BRING FOR SERVICE, BUT I GIVE UP- CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY NOW. I'LL RETURN THE LEASE. TOO BAD- LOVE THE CAR, JUST FEEL THERE IS SOMETHING VERY WRONG THAT THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO FIND. I HAVE FOUND OTHER REPORTS OF SAME LIKE PROBLEMS. *TR
I DRIVE A 2005 NISSAN MURANO SL. THE VEHICLE PERIODICALLY DOES NOT SAFELY ACCELERATE WHILE IN BUSY TRAFFIC. I HAD MY WIFE, 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, AND 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR AT THE TIME OF MAKING A LEFT TURN AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE SLUGGISHLY STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LEFT TURN AT THE INTERSECTION AND TEMPORARILY STALLED AND COULD HAVE CAUSED US TO BE HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO ABOUT 4000 RPM'S THEN PROCEEDING TO ACCELERATE. I SEE THIS PROBLEM AS A MAJOR SAFETY AND HEALTH ISSUE AND CAN BE THE ROOT CAUSE OF A MAJOR ACCIDENT RESULTING IN DEATH TO INVOLVED PARTIES. THIS PAST WEEK I HAD TWO TRANSMISSION RUBBER LINES BREAK. ONE ON A TRIP UPSTATE NEAR THE DELAWARE WATER GAP. I WAS ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM BY INSTALLING A NEW RUBBER LINE. THE OLD HOSE JUST BROKE OFF IN MY HANDS. WE DROVE HOME FINE. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT, THE OTHER HOSE BROKE OFF. THE CAR IS NOW GOING BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. TRANSMISSION FLUID IS FLAMMABLE. THIS IS NOT SAFE. THE CAR IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND THE RUBBER LINES SHOULD NOT BREAK OFF LIKE THEY DID. *TR
