Broken rear K Frame/Sub Frame. Vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and left the roadway after fishtailing in the rain. Towed to repair shop. Inspection of the rear suspension shows multiple premature catastrophic failures of the rear K Frame and or Sub Frame structure. Stabilization bar is completely broken from it's mount. Rear K Frame/Sub Frame is prematurely corroded and completely broken in half.

Normal driving and the seat broke and has been for several years causing instability and oscillation. Recently my steering wheel will not align, brought it to a mechanic that informed me the rear sub-frame is cracked on both sides causing the tires to malign, creating un-even wear on the back tires and a hazard to drive.

I JUST PURCHASED MY 2006 NISSAN MURANO STILL MAKING PAYMENTS AND I NOTICED WHEN I AM DRIVING IT FEELS LIKE THE BACK IS RIDING ON ICE. I DROVE IT ON THE FREEWAY AND WAS SO SCARED OF THE WAY THE CAR FELT LIKE I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING IT FELT AS IF IT WAS GOINGVTO FISHTAIL. I DID TAKE IT BACK TO THE CAR LOT I BOUGHT IT FROM TO HAVE SOMEONE TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND THEY GAVE ME THE NUMBER OF A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC ASKED IF THEY WERE PAYING FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND I THOUGHT THATS WHAT THE WARRANTY WAS FOR BUT WAS TOLD THE WARRANTY ONLY COVERS THE TRANNY AND ENGINE. SO THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET AHOLD OF THE OWNER AND ASK HIM IF THEY CAN PAY FOR IT THAT WAS 4 OR 5 DAYS AGO AND STILL NO WORD BACK. I PLAN ON TAKING THE CAR TO GET IT CHECKED OUT IF I CAN FIND SOMEONE TO DIAGNOSE IT FREE I AM ON DISABILITY AND STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THE CAR SO HAVE VERY LITTLE MONEY LEFT AFTER ALL MY BILLS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND MAKING TURNS, THE STEERING WHEEL FELT LOOSE AND MADE AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE. ADDITIONALLY, THE CHECK ENGINE AND ABS INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, THE HORN FAILED TO WORK, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FAILED TO MOVE UP OR DOWN, AND THE REAR HATCH FAILED TO OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (TAJ AUTO MALL, 154 NAZARETH PIKE, BETHLEHEM, PA 18020-9456) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPON STARTING COLD ENGINE A LOUD TAPPING OR RATTLING SOUND HEARD COMING FROM FRONT OF CAR. SOUND INCREASES WHEN ACCELERATING UNTIL REACHING 40 TO 45 MPH - THEN IT ALMOST DISAPPEARS. ONCE ENGINE IS WARM SOUND IS BARELY NOTICEABLE. IT ALSO TAKES A LOT OF STRENGTH TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT, EX: WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY INTO THE STREET, OR WHEN TURNING LEFT INTO A DRIVEWAY OR A PARKING SPACE. IT FEELS LIKE THERE IS NO POWER STEERING. SLIGHT LEFT TURNS ARE NORMAL AS ARE ALL RIGHT TURNS. VEHICLE IS GOING INTO DEALER TUESDAY WHICH IS THEIR FIRST OPENING. I WILL UPDATE THIS ONCE IT IS DETERMINED WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM /PROBLEMS.

I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO GET A KEY MADE FOR IT, SINCE I HAD LOST THE KEY. THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION UP TO DATE. AFTER GETTING A KEY MADE BY THE DEALERSHIP, THE KEY WILL NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION FOR IT IS LOCKED. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I NOW NEED TO PURCHASE A STEERING LOCK TO GET IT FIXED. THE MURANO I PURCHASED WAS FROM A USED DEALERSHIP AND I WAS UNAWARE OF ANY RECALLS AND DID NOT RECEIVE ANY LETTER TO DATE FOR THE RECALL ON THE STEERING LOCK SINCE I HAVE HAD IT. CURRENTLY HAVE TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING HOSE. MASSIVE LEAK AND USING A BOTTLE OF POWER STEERING FLUID EVERY COUPLE DAYS. I HAVE READ AND REVIEWED A MINIMUM OF 100 COMPLAINTS OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM BUT NISSAN REFUSES TO DO A RECALL ON THIS MATTER. I DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL MY POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING WELL ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 55MPH DURING A RAIN STORM. I WAS VERY CLOSE TO GOING IN THE DITCH. THIS IS NOT A $50 FIX BUT A $450 FIX AND A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD NOT BE OCCURING. UPON STARTING VEHICLE IN A.M., I HEARD A LOUD WHINE EMANATE FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE SOUND WAS EXACTLY LIKE BRITTLE LEAVES FROM A TREE WERE RUBBING ON THE MOVING BELTS. I TURNED STEERING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT AND STEERING SENSATION SEEMED SPORADIC AND IRREGULAR. I OPENED THE HOOD AND CHECKED SERPENTINE BELT AND POWER STEERING BELT. I THOUGHT THE BELTS MAY BE GLAZED OR HAVE LOOSENED OR HAD A FOREIGN OBJECT TOUCHING THEM. ALL LOOKED OKAY BUT THE NOISE REMAINED. THAT AFTERNOON I CALLED MY MECHANIC AND MADE APPT. MY MECHANIC CHECKED VEHICLE , ADDED POWER STEERING FLUID AS HE FOUND THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE AND SAID HE WOULD ORDER A NEW UNIT AND INSTALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. HE SAID THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PART TO FAIL ON THESE MURANOS. WITHIN A FEW DAYS THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETE, HOWEVER IT SET ME BACK FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. I CALLED NISSAN AT 1-800- NISSAN1. THE AGENT ON BEHALF OF NISSAN REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY, HOWEVER DID MAKE A CASE NUMBER. I STATED SOMEONE WILL BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED ONE DAY, BUT WAS MET WITH THE OBLIGATORY "WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE". I CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE MURANO AND WAS TOLD NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THE NUMEROUS FAILURES OF THIS POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE, AND IT IS EXTREMELY COMMON. THE HIGH PRESSURE POWER STEERING HOSE AND SENSOR ASSEMBLY BASICALLY BLEW OUT OF THIS LOVINGLY USED NISSAN MURANO. THIS CAUSED A POWER STEERING "WHINE" WHEN TURNING AND MADE TURNING DIFFICULT AND UNSAFE. FURTHER DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE BLOW OUT VICE SLOW BREAK IT HAPPENED QUICKLY AND IMMEDIATELY IMPACTED THE AMOUNT OF POWER STEERING FLUID AVAILABLE TO THE SYSTEM. NATURALLY, AS THERE WAS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY, NISSAN WOULD NOT COVER COST NOR CONSIDER A REDUCTION IN REPAIR/REPLACEMENT FEES. THIS IS A BIG-TIME HISTORICAL PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR MAKE AND YEAR OF THIS NISSAN. LOCAL DEALERSHIPS SAY THAT THEY REPLACE ABOUT TWO OF THESE PER WEEK ON AVERAGE, AND THE INTERNET IS FILLED WITH SIMILAR STORIES OF REPAIRS COSTING IN EXCESS OF $600. SINCE THEN I HAVE FOUND OUT THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE TO THE POWER STEERING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAS ONLY 52,000 MILES ON IT. I DID SOME INVESTIGATION ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THIS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS CAR. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE FOR NISSAN.

2006 NISSAN MURANO WITH APPROXIMATELY 66,000 MILES ON IT. POWER STEERING LEAKAGE IDENTIFIED BY STAIN ON DRIVEWAY, AS WELL AS NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WITH LOW FLUID, STEERING IS SLUGGISH AT ALL SPEEDS. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT CAUSE OF THE LEAK IS A FAILURE OF THE HIGH PRESSURE LINE FOR THE POWER STEERING PUMP. TURNED ON MY CAR AND FOUND A LOUD RACKETING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. KEPT DRIVING CAR UNTIL MY STEERING WHEEL BECAME COMPLETELY LOCKED, LUCKILY I WAS NEAR A SEARS AND HAD IT LOOKED AT. DIAGNOSED IT AS A LEAK IN MY POWER STEERING HOSE. THEY ADDED POWER STEERING FLUID AND TOLD ME IT WOULD BE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX. AFTER 24 HOURS, THE STEERING FLUID THEY HAD ADDED HAD COMPLETELY LEAKED TO A PUDDLE UNDER MY CAR AND MY WHEEL WAS LOCKED AGAIN. I HAVE HAD 2 OTHER FRIENDS WITH THE EXACT SAME CAR AND THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. OBVIOUSLY WITH ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2006 MURANO HAVING POWER STEERING ISSUES, THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE IT IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. ON MARCH 26, 2010, WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE WHEN MOVING TO THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT. I BOUGHT A 206 NISSAN MURANO FROM A DEALER. THE CAR WAS CERTIFIED CLEAN BY MANHEIM THE AUCTION HOUSE.THE CAR WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND IT WAS IN GOOD SHAPE. I HAD THE CAR INSPECTED PRE PURCHASE INSPECTION BY STEVENS CREEK NISSAN WWW.STEVENSCREEKNISSAN.COM. IT WAS CERTIFIED CLEAN WITH ABSOLUTELY _NO_LEAKS_. THEN 30 DAYS LATER I HEAR A WHINE WITHIN THE CAR AND I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO INSPECT. IT WAS IDENTIFIED AS A LEAK IN POWER STEERING FLUID HOSE. HOW COME 30 DAYS THERE WASN'T ANY REPORTED LEAK , BUT NOW THERE IS A LEAK THAT HAD DRAINED A LOT OF POWER STEERING FLUID AND THAT CAUSED THE HIGH PITCH WHINE. THE MECHANIC ADDED SOME POWER STEERING FLUID AND THE SOUND STOPPED. WHEN I CHECKED WITH A KRAGEN STORE WHERE I WENT TO BUY POWER STEERING FLUID , THEY SAID THAT THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN. NISSAN MURANO 2006, I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL RECALLS IN THE PAST. I TOOK MY SUV TO THE DEALER IN JAN 2010 FOR A POWER STEERING LEAK. THE SERVICE GUY TOLD ME THE HOSE HAD TO BE REPAIRED, SO I GOT IT REPAIRED. A MONTH LATER I STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM IN FEB 2010. NOW NISSAN SERVICE IS BLAMING ON THE POWER STEERING RACK, AND IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED FOR $2000.00. I WENT ON LINE TO SEE HOW MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, AND FOUND OTHERS COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AS MINE. HIGH PRESSURE HYDRAULIC LINE ASSOCIATED WITH POWER STEERING PUMP IS LEAKING. SHORTLY AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE USED FROM A DEALER A NOISE UNDER THE HOOD BEGAN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE STEERING IN HIS VEHICLE. THE STEERING WHEEL CONTINUED TO LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE CONTACT HAD TO EXERT GREAT FORCE IN ORDER TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE STEERING WHEEL FROM LOCKING, BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR WHEELS NEEDED TO BE PARALLEL TO EACH OTHER AND THE STEERING WHEEL NEEDED TO BE IN A HORIZONTAL POSITION.
