The rear subframe is rusted through in several areas. The rear sway bar connection point on the rear driver side control arm is no longer connected due to rust. The rear tires are slanted inward causing uneven tire wear. The vehicle sways from side to side while driving on any surface that is even slightly slick. The problem was discovered while replacing the rear brakes on the vehicle.

Have been driving Murano thinking only needed 4 wheel alignment. Rear wheels as I was told some time ago looked like to tow in I think you call it was off, leaning in. Took to garage, mechanic stated, k- frame completely rusted in half on both sides. Stabilizer bar just dangling. Stated it's a wonder I had not been killed. Said from the look I had been driving it for quite some time in this condition. Currently has 175k miles on it. I bought in 2019, had 161k on it then. Bought up north. Vehicle is in perfect shape otherwise. Now, I have nothing. He said possible I could have bought that way. I see many, many of these frames rusting through too early. Why would Nissan avoid this issue. I will put date discovered, but I believe date was years sooner as I only drive in local area.

The frame has rusted out of the vehicle at only 156,000 miles. It is unsafe as the rear suspension and sway bars are no longer connected to the frame. This causes unsteady movement and swaying when in motion endangering the driver and others on the road. The problem was confirmed by a professional mechanic. I have not had it inspected by the manufacturer nor another party. There were no warning lamps only the onset of severe instability regarding the suspension.

Took my car in for a front end alignment and wobbling in the rear when hit bumps. Informed that the rear subframe is completely corroded and “rotted out”. Quoted repair cost of $3900, and the car is deemed unsafe to drive in its current condition.

Had previously felt some shaking in car as accelerating on roadway. Did not realize at that time the my rear subframe was rusting out. When Murano was parked in driveway noticed that the back wheels where turned inward. After inspecting car found that there was a lot of rust on my rear subframe making it unsafe to use this vehicle anymore. Cost of repairs are well over 2,000. This vehicle had just turned 100k miles when this happened.

Both rear tires suddenly began wearing severely inside. Both were bald on the inside. The car ha 100,284 miles and the tires have approximately 4,000 miles. I had a 4 wheel alignment performed and was told the rear subframe was too rusted to perform a complete alignment. I fear it will it will crack and lose control. Based upon other complaints on the rear subframe it is clear the material used was inferior.

approximately 1 month ago my Nissan began shaking when the speedometer reached 20-40 miles per hour. the shaky would get bad enough to where I was not able to keep it straight and would have to pull off the road. this went on for about 1 and half weeks. My husband noticed that the tops of the back tires were tilted inward. when he inspected my car he found that the rear sub-frame had broke. we also discovered that this is something that is not normal due to wear and tear. failure of Nissan to rust proof the sub-frame is to blame. I noticed several complaints from other owners of Nissan Murano's 2006-2007 on the internet. one of those were able to get a 'settlement' from Nissan, but did not detail how they went about doing that. i called Nissan customer service and all I got was there is nothing they can do because of the age of my car, even though i explained to her that this is something that could have been prevented when the car was manufactured and was due to negligence on Nissan's part. we have not taken my car to a dealer or service center as my husband, who use to race cars, is very familiar with cars. my car that has always been so dependable and is now junk, as it will cost more to repair it than what it's worth.

Someone sold me this car unsafe. The subframe is rusted all the way, and it’s barley holding the back of the car together. An accident could’ve happened while I was driving it. The problem has been confirmed by my local mechanic. There were no signs indicating this safety hazard.

The rear subframe rusted off on drivers side. I financed this car only 10 months ago and now I can not drive it. It is very dangerous to drive, and the mechanic told me I should no longer drive it because of how dangerous it is. I have seen numerous complaints about people having the same rear subframe rusting. I can not afford to get it fixed and I’m still paying on the car. I got it for $7,500 and have put over $2,000 in it. I still have $4,500 left on it. They need a recall, this is a safety hazard for not only the driver and passengers, but for civilians walking or driving by the car, which at any moment the tire can fly off. Please recall the vehicles before someone puts in a lawsuit.

I OWN A 2007 NISSAN MURANO SL AWD. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER FOR ALMOST ALL OF THE SERVICE TO MY CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER LOCAL MECHANIC TO VERIFY THE NEED FOR LOWER FRONT CONTROL ARMS. THE NISSAN DEALER QUOTED ~ $900 FOR THIS SERVICE. TO MY SURPRISE, MY 2ND MECHANIC; WHO I HAVE DONE BUSINESS WITH FOR YEARS, TELLS ME THAT I DON'T NEED CONTROL ARMS BUT A NEW SUB FRAME. THE REAR SUBFRAME ON THE MURANO IS COMPLETELY RUSTED. IT IS ALMOST TO THE POINT WHERE THE REAR AXLE CAN COLLAPSE. I DID A SEARCH AND DISCOVERED THERE ARE NUMEROUS NISSAN MURANO AND QUEST OWNERS THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. NISSAN HAS TO HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS. BUT WHAT REALLY BOTHERS ME THE MOST IS THAT MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER DID NOT MENTION THIS TO ME. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THAT SHOP DOZENS OF TIMES OVER THE YEARS. IT IS THERE FOR STATE INSPECTION EVERY YEAR............AND NO ONE NOTICED.

FOR WHATEVER REASON I GOT IN ONE DAY LAST SUMMER AND AS SOON AS I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY MY SEAT FELT AS IF I GOT PUSH BACKWARD AND MY SEAT BRACKET HAD JUST BROKE, I NOW HAVE BRICKS HOLDING UP MY $28,000 RIDE! JULY 26, 2018 SOMEONE PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY HITTING MY PARKED VEHICLE AND QUICKLY DRIVING AWAY. THEY HIT IT HARD ENOUGH TO DENT THE BUMPER AND TOW BAR. I IMMEDIATELY COULD TELL THE REAR END WAS WAY OFF. PROGRESSIVE REFUSES TO PAY FOR THIS AS THEY SAID MY CROSSMEMBER COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH AS WELL AS SOME OF MY FRAME AND SOME OTHER PARTS.. THEY SAY IF THE VEHICLE HAD NOT HAD SUCH A SERIOUS RUST PROBLEM -WHICH IS NOT AGE APPROPRIATE TO MY VEHICLE-THEN IT WOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN IN HALF TOWING MY TIRES IN AS WELL FROM THAT HIT. COVERAGE IS VOIDED LIKE A POOR WORKMANSHIP DEAL! THE SHOP I HAVE IT AT RIGHT NOW SAYS ITS SO FAR GONE IT IS SERIOUSLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS. DUE TO NISSANS PREMATURE RUST ISSUES MY CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE AND MY DRIVERS SEAT ISNT SAFE AS WELL. PROGRESSIVE AUTO INSURANCE IS REFUSING TO STAND BY MY FULL COVERAGE POLICY AND APPARENTLY ARE LEGALLY ABLE TO DO SO BECAUSE THE SUBSTANDARD PARTS GIVE THEM THAT ESCAPE CLAUSE. I STILL OWE ON THIS VEHICLE. I REALLY NEED NISSAN TO MAKE THIS RIGHT AS THEY HAVE EVEN MADE IT SO IT WAS UNINSURABLE AS I PAID AND I NEVER EVEN KNEW IT. I HAVE MY CAR IN PLACES FOR ALIGNMENTS, TIRES, OIL CHANGES ETC ETC AND NOONE EVER TOLD ME IT WAS RUSTING OR RUSTED AWAY. MECHANIC INSPECTED IT AND REAR SUBFRAME RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKEN. THE REAR WHEELS ARE WORN ON THE INSIDE AND ARE MISALIGNED. THEY ARE TILTING IN TOWARDS EACH OTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT AND FOR THE REPAIR. I WAS GIVEN A CASE # AND ASKED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF OWNERSHIP. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM A FAMILY MEMBER. AS THE CAR WAS INOPERABLE I HAD AAA TOW IT TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER QUOTED ME AN ESTIMATE REPAIR COST OF $5,279; PARTS AND LABOR.

THE DOOR LOCKS OPEN AND CLOSE WITH NO WITH NO SPECIFIC TIMING. SOMETIMES CLICKING OCCURS IMMEDIATELY OTHER TIMES AFTER A HALF HOUR OF DRIVING. WENT TO DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. NOW PASSENGER DOOR AND REAR DOOR LOCKS DO NOT UNLOCK UNLESS DOUBLE CLICK OF THE DOOR SWITCH ON DRIVERS DOOR. DEALER SUGGESTED I RETURN TO REPLACE THE ACTUATOR. I AM CONCERNED THIS MAY BE VERY EXPENSIVE. THIS SHOULD BE A VEHICLE RECALL DUE TO THE LOW MILES YEAR AND MAKE OF VEHICLE. SO WHY IS IT A SAFETY ISSUE? 1. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITTENT OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY.
