When the car was in the shop for an unrelated repair, I was informed by the shop that the subframe (K frame) is rusted out and will fail "sooner rather than later". i was told the car should not be driven and is unsafe to drive. There was no indication of a structural problem otherwise. The body of the vehicle appears to be rust free.

May 5, 2024

The rear K frame broke without being in an accident or other physical damage to the car.

I had noticed that my car would sway when driving around a curve or when switching lanes and was going to take it to the shop to be checked out, but my back passenger tire went flat on my way home from work which was odd because they were brand new tires. When I went to change the tire I noticed that the inside of the tire was completely worn and wires were sticking out. I drove home at 35-40mph because the sway was even worse with the spare tire. I had a mechanic come to my home to check the car out because I was afraid to drive it any further. When he jacked the car up to see what was going on, upon inspection he noticed the sway bar had come loose on the passenger and driver side of the car and that the sub frame on the driver side of the car was completely rusted through. The mechanic was able to reattach the sway bar, but advised not to drive it until the sub frame could be fixed. I contacted a certified welder and had my car towed to the welder to have the frame welded back together. The certified welder was only able to partially weld the frame and stated that the car would need the frame replaced because it was too rusted out to properly fix and that it was not safe to drive. Now I’m without a vehicle even though the car is in great running condition because the frame is unable to be fixed and the cost to buy a new frame and have the work done is more than the car kbb values the car for. I don’t know why this issue hasn’t been recalled and fixed. I could have crashed and died and my children left without a mother. It’s sad to see so many complaints and nothing done about it.

Upon driving in a lite snow, (.3-.5") I experienced a sudden rear end swerve. Had 2 young passengers in car, they were very scared. The car behind me took evasive action to avoid me. Then at next stop lite, the driver said the rear wheels were not parallel with each other. No warning to me. Car was taken to a service garage for inspection. Rear subframe was severely rusted. Was advised to get rid of car. Took it to another repair shop and was told that they could replace (Not repair) the rear subframe, which they did for a total cost of about $3000.00

Dec 15, 2023

The rear subframe is rusted through in several areas. The rear sway bar connection point on the rear driver side control arm is no longer connected due to rust. The rear tires are slanted inward causing uneven tire wear. The vehicle sways from side to side while driving on any surface that is even slightly slick. The problem was discovered while replacing the rear brakes on the vehicle.

2 months ago I Bought vehicle for $4300 and found out 3 weeks ago that the frame is broken. The car is very squirrely on wet roads- no wonder? It's very dangerous and it's going to cost more than the car is worth to fix it.

Aug 2, 2023

The frame of the car has had a catastrophic failure, the rear frame has broken away from the body of the car on both sides. This has caused the car to be completely unsafe and unable to be driven. The broken frame was discovered as I was doing basic maintenance on the car, putting new brakes on the rear of the car and checking low air in a tire. At that time I discovered the brand new tires on the back were worn to the core on the inside and then I saw that the frame itself had broken away from the body. I have done repairs and maintenance on my own vehicles for many years, so I am the one that discovered the broken frame not a dealer or repair shop.

Aug 2, 2023

Driving to work in the rain the vehicle began to sway when breaks were applied. The back of the vehicle went right and the car went left. I moved to the right lane and the vehicle fishtailed! I was totally afraid that I could drive into a ditch or be killed on the highway. I drove very slowly to the repair shop, after inspection, I needed struts but then the mechanic looked further and saw that the rear k-subframe was completely corroded and unable to be welded. The one piece was completely apart from the other. A danger to drive. Once I began to look for a replacement part, I began to see how many other Murano owners have had the same issues with the subframe rusting out. This is absolutely crazy that this part is not recalled as the part is defective in the construction of it. Nissan should be ashamed. My life and my daughter's was at risk. There are no warning lights to advise of this problem prior to its failure.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle started swerving side to side without warning. The contact was able to pull over safely. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the front driver’s and passenger’s side subframe was rusted. The control arms and the subframe was replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 101,000.

Mileage: 101,000

Had previously felt some shaking in car as accelerating on roadway. Did not realize at that time the my rear subframe was rusting out. When Murano was parked in driveway noticed that the back wheels where turned inward. After inspecting car found that there was a lot of rust on my rear subframe making it unsafe to use this vehicle anymore. Cost of repairs are well over 2,000. This vehicle had just turned 100k miles when this happened.

Rear subframe rusted tire bent in word

Jan 9, 2023

I took my car in to get a tire alignment and the mechanic could not do it and pointed out the rusted out sub rear frame on the driver side. I took to a auto collision shop and will not touch it for liability reasons. if im driving 70 mph down the interstate and the back wheel bends in from the rust, there is going to be a serious accident. i am without a vehicle at the moment till this is resolved. There are hundreds of posts of the same problem online and suprised there is not a recall. I am the least dramatic person but i fear for the safety of my life if i keep driving the way it is if not fixed.

Jan 7, 2023

When i applied the brakes the car pulled to the right so I brought it to my mechanic to find out the rear control arm bracket pulled out of the sub frame near the body bushing the rest of the car is not rotten only parts of the sub frame

To whom this may concern ,Y husband owns a Nissan Murano 2007 AWD. He uses this car as his daily as he has to travel for work from Shirley NY to Garden City NY 5-6 times a week . On Dec 10th as he was leaving home to go to work he got on the main road and his car lost control . Thank god there was no one around him and everyone was alert because his car almost caused a fatal accident . My father was able to tow it back home and I started calling mechanic shops to see who would be able to check his car and fix it asap . I finally get in touch with a mechanic and my father takes it to his shop the mechanic looked at the car and told us that his whole K Frame was rusted and came off completely . He said “ this is a common issue with Nissan Murano 2007 , I worked at Nissan dealership and we would see this all the time and it’s very dangerous you cannot drive this car” My question is if this is such a common issue . Why isn’t this recalled? Why are these car still out on the road? We have to spend insane amount of money that we don’t have to fix this issue because we can’t afford to buy a brand new car but no only that my husband could’ve almost lost his life and hurt other ones because of this issue . This seriously needs to be fixed . After doing my research I see many people complained about this not only a while back but recently and still nothing has been done . Our car is still in the shop and we have no idea when we’ll get it back due to the cost of these parts . Please do something about this .

I purchased a 2007 Nissan Murano the end of June. The first time I drove it on a wet road I almost lost control, and I was driving well BELOW the speed limit. The next week I got different tires put on and took it for an alignment. The first independent service center I took it to showed me where the rear subframe on BOTH the driver and passenger were completely rusted through, and they told me I should drive the vehicle as little as possible until I got it fixed. I took it to a second independent service center to see if it could be fixed without having to be completely replaced, they told me they could not, nor could an aligment be done and that I should stop driving it immediately. I had only had the car for a month and a half before I had to park it. This is a MAJOR issue that needs to be addressed by Nissan!! I don't have the money to have the car fixed, nor can I sell it. So I'm making payments on a car that is doing nothing but collecting dust and taking up space. Unfortunately I am learning that this is a major issue with this vehicle. Nissan needs to fix it before people are killed, not just people driving the vehicle, but other motorists, and possible pedestrians. The airbag light is also on and I haven't been in an accident, nor has there been any work done to it since I bought it.

Rear crossmember rusted in two Was told by mechanic unsafe to drive Vehickle SHAKES and SHIMMIES

Sep 19, 2022

Rear K sub frame is 100% rusted out. The main front K suspension brace where it meets the mainframe is completely rusted off on both sides at front, The rear main mounting studs for rear of k brace are broke off at threads from rust. Where swaybar mounts at bottom of subframe. In my 20+ career of being a mechanic I have never seen anything like it. It is clearly an issue with the steel used when manufacturing this vehicle. I have seen cars from the 60's and 70's with much better frames (from the same geographic location) I cannot fathom this extreme safety hazard has not been recalled. I purchased this vehicle on date listed and found this issue before my family rode in it and I'm grateful for my knowledge and fear for those who would climb in unknowingly and risk death to their loved ones or others on the road.

Sep 18, 2022

About a year ago my husband and I noticed there was alot of rust in the rear end on the sway bar and around it not to long after the sway bar looked as If it was going to come apart on the left side my husband got it to stay put for a little while but as time went on the truck just became more unsafe anytime we tried to drive it it was all over the road it's kept pulling to the left very badly we noticed that the back tires were not straight and bowing out my husband changed the front tire on the left for unrelated reasons and then the next day we was driving and the awd light started flashing we were heading home and went to take off from a red light when I hit the gas the whole rear end exploded into pieces and now we definitely can't use it the only way to is to replace the rear end. Since we bought this SUV it's been nothing but problems and money and now we have no transportation are truck was how we make money were self employed so now we can't even make money to survive or even repair the SUV. The truck has been very unsafe since day 1 we bought it and all because of the back end of it. Someone needs to recall this vehicle asap before someone gets hurt and someone needs to help me fixy vehicle or get into another one cause this is not my fault and now I'm suffering not being able to make money or survive without a vehicle my mom is disabled and has a tumor I have to be able to take her to appointments and store etc. This is not fair to us cause of a problem you guys should have taken care of a long time ago. I will keep pushing this and pursuing it I will go as high as I have to for some to acknowledge and help me. Thank you if you need pictures I will gladly send in some

Car started making noise from the rear it’s at the shop now they say it’s not drivable frame rusted and flaking tires leaning inward

Aug 22, 2022

The rear frame and rear control arms are completely rusted away. We had it looked at when it did not feel right while driving and it smelled like burning rubber when driving short distances. The mechanic refused to service it because of what he saw. It was not safe, which means it is not safe to drive. The tires are tilted in at the top. It is unsafe to drive. It has @ 141k miles. You all are endangering lives if you do not recall for this issue, as I have now seen multiple folks that have also complained about the same issue. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL?? Now we have a vehicle that we can not drive, because it is not safe AND we can not sell, because it is not safe. Please reach out to me on or before 8/25/22, if Nissan is willing to resolve.

Aug 19, 2022

I was driving my Murano when out of the blue it started swerving almost uncontrollably and my tires were squalling. I thought I got a blown tire at first and luckily nobody was around me at the time or someone could have been seriously hurt or even killed as I was barely able to get it back under control. I pulled over to the side of the road and got out of the car. I instantly noticed that both my back tires where slanted heavily in at the top and heavily out at the bottom. I called a wrecker to take my car to the mechanic garage. They told me that the k-frame / sub-frame and completely rusted through and I was luckily not to have been in an accident. They told me to be able to fix it I was looking at close to $3,000. The car is completely undriveable now.

The rear subframe crack due to erosion

Jul 13, 2022

Car started making funny noises from rear tires and was swaying. took it to local mechanic and found out the rear subframe and suspension has rusted away. According to research this is a common problem with this SUV

Jul 10, 2022

The rear passenger k frame is rusted in half...almost caused me to wreck with my 2 young kids inside... very unsafe... something needs to be done about this problem...

Jul 9, 2022

The rear subframe is extremely rusted and breaking into pieces in multiple areas. The vehicle shakes upon acceleration and slowing down. Due to being lower income I cannot afford to fix the subframe (estimated to cost $400 for the the frame not including labor). Also the vacuum lines dry rotted and fell apart.

May 25, 2022

The rear subframe of my 2007 Nissan Murano was rotted and broken and had to be replaced! Vehicle has been repaired for $1800.00.

Apr 18, 2022

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH on wet and snowy roads the tire would go inward. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and informed the contact that the lower control arms needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA ID Number: 10206391 (Suspension). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 210,000.

rear subframe was corroded through and the sway bar was detached on the passenger side.

Mar 30, 2022

A certified mechanic inspected my vehicle for a routine check up and noticed that part of my rear subframe was completely rusted out. He refused to install new rear tires on my vehicle due to a safety concern of the rear subframe collapsing on the mechanic. I was told not to drive the nissan murano due to the rear subframe completely detaching from the vehicle. My Murano fishtails when i go over bumps or traveling on the highway and my tires are caving inward. My certified mechanic mentioned that this is a common problem with 1st generation nissan murano models. Why has this not been recalled yet? Does someone have to get killed or seriously wounded in a car accident before a recall has taken place. I challenge NHTSA to investigate these incidents because I know I'm not alone and get justice for Nissan actions. I have spent over $10,000 in repairs for this vehicle and it has been nothing but headaches. I hate to see a love one lose there life over something that can be prevented by notify the public since nissan refuses to take responsibility. Please act know.

Unknown- I was driving and felt the car wobble but didn’t know what it was, when I got home noticed my back wheels ware sticking out,and I was scare,I had a mechanic look at it in my driveway because I’am afraid to drive it,and the mechanic said that it was rusted and I shouldn’t drive it cause I could cause a accident,I pick up my kids every day from school and I been asking for help picking them up,please help, this is the only car I have and my only way to bring and pick up my kids from school

rear subframe front right portion rusted through this is a connecting point to the body and a connecting point for The control rod that keeps the wheel from moving forward and back teaming the car unsafe to drive as the wheel can turn inward or outward at will causing car to change directions on its own possible throwing one into ditch or into oncoming traffic major safety problem request Nissan to replace subframe as a recall immediately

Dec 1, 2021

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Murano. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who discovered a massive hole on the subframe due to excessive corrosion. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer where it was purchased where it remained in their possession awaiting an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred him to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 83,314.

Nov 18, 2021

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH, the rear subframe detached from the vehicle due to rust. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, a diagnostic test was not performed. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000. Update by owner: Car was repaired by a local shop at a cost of nearly $2000. Nissan America Customer Service stated this is their first complaint regarding this rear subframe (crossmember) failure. This was a false statement from Nissan consumer stated she knew of others who have filed formal complaints regarding the failure of this component. Since purchasing this vehicle, consumer heard these components have a high failure rate in regions where road salt is used in winter months, which comprises the majority of the U.S. Nearly a total loss of control occurs when this component fails due to gross misalignment of rear tires after failure, and my experience was fortunately at 20 mph.

The rear subframe rusted off on drivers side. I financed this car only 10 months ago and now I can not drive it. It is very dangerous to drive, and the mechanic told me I should no longer drive it because of how dangerous it is. I have seen numerous complaints about people having the same rear subframe rusting. I can not afford to get it fixed and I’m still paying on the car. I got it for $7,500 and have put over $2,000 in it. I still have $4,500 left on it. They need a recall, this is a safety hazard for not only the driver and passengers, but for civilians walking or driving by the car, which at any moment the tire can fly off. Please recall the vehicles before someone puts in a lawsuit.

Oct 14, 2021

Noticed bowing of my rear tires. Looked under car and noticed a lot of rust. Spoke to mechanic who said this is a known issues with murano-in particular corrosion if the rear subframe.

Oct 6, 2021

REAR SUBFRAME RUSTED/ROT. UNSAFE TO DRIVE. BOTH REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT ARE THROWN OFF AND WHEELS ARE BENT INWARDS. FURTHER DRIVING CAN CAUSE REAR SUBFRAME TO COLLAPSE AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND DRIVER/PASSENGER. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE MADE IMMEDIATELY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE

Sep 28, 2021

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, a thumping noise was heard coming from the rear of the vehicle and the rear driver’s and passenger’s side tires had turned inward. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with rear suspension failure from the rear subframe rusting. The vehicle was repaired but needed an alignment. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 143,000.

K frame rust, wheels tilting not safe to drive. Rest of vehicle fine,to bad this is not a recall. Really like vehicle otherwise.

Aug 14, 2021

THE REAR K FRAME (SUB-FRAME) OF THE VEHICLE IS RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH ON BOTH SIDES - THE REAR TIRES SLANT OUTWARD AT BOTTOM & MY GOOD TIRES NOW SQUEEL WHILE GOING AROUND TURNS - ONE SIDE OF THE REAR STABALIZER BAR IS NOW DETACHED FROM ALL THE RUST. THIS VEHICAL IS NO LONGER SAFE TO BE DRIVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I SEE MANY SUCH REPORTS BUT CAN FIND ANY EVIDENCE OF A RECALL BY NISSAN - WHY IS THAT ?

Aug 9, 2021

The metal used to make the k frame on the nissan murano has failed. It has lead to numerous problems with this year of muranos. I believe Nissan should be responsible for fixing this problem. It is a huge safety problem and could kill someone.

Aug 7, 2021

Had driveshaft put on and asked mechanic to put sway links on that I had purchased. He called after putting driveshaft on and stated he couldn’t put sway links on until the sub frame was fixed due to it being rusted out and broke. He took a video to show me. He said the part would have to be ordered from Nissan and taken somewhere because he doesn’t do that kind of work. I took it to another garage abd they put up on the rack abd confirmed the sub frame was broke and needed replaced.

Crossover member is severely deteriorated and sway bar has broken out of the rear crossover member on both sides. Car only has 92,000 miles on it. Lower control arm can come lose and causing the wheel to detach from car. Sway bar was dragging the ground and upon inspection, noticed the deteriorated rear crossover.

Jun 17, 2021

Upon driving my vehicle, my ABS and AWD lights came on and it felt as though the abs brakes were engaging, despite being on a flat, dry road driving at low speed. My car was making a very slight, difficult to hear noise coming from the rear, a knocking noise of sorts. I also began hearing a high pitched, whirring noise as well, though I could not identify the location or source. Upon inspection by a mechanic, I was informed that 1. The rear subframe was rusted and would need to be replaced as it was causing the control arms to move when they should not. 2. Front driver's side wheel bearing was causing the high pitched "whirring noise" and needed to be replaced. I was told to take vehicle to a body shop to repair the subframe problem. I had the front wheel bearing replaced at the auto mechanic. However, the high pitched noise that I was told was caused by the bearing, still persisted. I then decided to tow the vehicle to the body shop as upon visual inspection under my vehicle, the rear sway bar was resting on my exhaust and I felt it u safe to drive. Spoke with the body shop owner the next day, he informed me that my car was very unsafe and could not be driven because the rear subframe was so rusted and corroded, there "is practically nothing left to it." Body shop owner said that this could result in a dangerous, possibly fatal accident.

VEHICLES SUB FRAME HAS RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH MAKING THIS CAR UNSAFE AND NONDRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESPONDING ODDLY WHEN STEERING AND I NOTED THAT THE REAR TIRES WERE AT A ODD ANGLE. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT WHEREBY I WAS TOLD THIS CAR WAS UNSAFE AND UNDRIVABLE DUE TO A TOTALLY RUSTED OUT SUBFRAME. I HAD THE CAR TAKEN TO ANOTHER SHOP TO INSTALL A NEW SUBFRAME WHICH COSTED ME $2000.00 TO REPLACE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN BABIED AND IS VERY CLEAN AND LOOKS NEW, I HAVE NEW TIRES, BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, SHOCKS, STRUTS AND ALWAYS KEPT THIS CARS MAINTENANCE UP TO DATE. IT IS UNBELEAVABLE HOW THIS GARAGE KEPT VEHICLE COULD RUST OUT SOO BADLY ON SUCH A CRITICAL SUSPENSION COMPONENT. I GUESTION THAT THE METAL USED WAS UNSATISFACTORY FOR THIS CRITICAL COMPONENT. LUCKILY THIS PART DID NOT FAIL ME WHILE DRIVING ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS STARTING TO DRIFT AND SWAY UNUSUALLY AS IT WAS DRIVEN WHICH FIRST BROUGHT MY ATTENTION TO THE PROBLEM. I HAVE ALL OF MY RECIEPTS IF COPIES ARE NEEDED FOR VERIFICATION OF THIS FAILURE. I ALSO HAVE MANY PHOTOS OF WHICH I ATTACHED A COUPLE FOR YOU FILES. I WOULD WELCOME A ONSITE REVIEW IF NEEDED. THESE MURANOS ARE A DEFINITE ROAD HAZARD AND A HAZARD THAT IS NOT EASILY SEEN OR IDENTIFIED UNLESS YOU CRAWL UNDER THE CAR TO ASSESS ITS CONDITION WHICH IS WHY I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL MOTORIST WHO DRIVE AND ARE ALSO ON THE ROAD WITH THIS CAR. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND CONCERN.

THE REAR SUBFRAME LITERALLY DISINTEGRATED. WHILE DRIVING ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH THE REAR WHEELS BOTH SHIFTED. LIKE MANY OTHERS ON HERE MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AND THE REAR WHEELS PRACTICALLY FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. LIVES ARE AT RISK, NOT JUST FOR THE OWNERS OF THE CAR BUT THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT AND LOSS OF LIFE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A VEHICLE LOOK LIKE THIS THAT WASN'T IN A ACCIDENT. OWNERS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY. THIS 2007.NISSAN MURANO IS NOT DRIVABLE. AND WORST OF ALL THE DEALER WANTS $4900.00

RECENTLY MY WIFE HAD BEEN INFORMING ME OF A PROBLEM ON OUR 2007 NISSAN MURANO WAS UNSTABLE WHEN BEING DRIVEN, AND MAKES LOUD CLUNKING NOISES WHEN TURNING AND REVERSING AT LOW SPEED. I DROVE THE SUV MYSELF ON DECEMBER 2ND, AND WHILE TURNING A CORNER AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION IT WENT OVER A SMALL BUMP OR MANHOLE COVER. AT THAT TIME THE REAR END OF THE CAR FISHTAILED, AND I NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE REST OF THE DRIVE HOME THE VEHICLE FELT UNSTABLE WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ON A DRY, SMOOTH, AND STRAIGHT ROAD. UPON ARRIVING HOME, ABOUT 1 MILE FROM WHERE THE INCIDENT HAPPENED I NOTICED THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL WAS CAMBERED INWARDS ABOUT 10-15 DEGREES. I CONTACTED MY MECHANIC BY PHONE, AND HE TOLD ME TO NOT DRIVE THE CAR AND HAVE IT TOWED TO HIS INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP FOR AN INSPECTION. WHEN HE LIFTED THE VEHICLE OFF THE GROUND HE DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM. HE SENT ME THE ATTACHED PICTURE, AND SAID THE VEHICLE'S SUBFRAME HAS 'EXTREME' RUST WHICH IS UNUSUAL FOR ONLY BEING 12 YEARS OLD, AND THAT IT IS 'NOT SAFE TO DRIVE'. ADDITIONALLY I HAVE READ MANY ARTICLES OF OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES HAVING PROBLEMS WITH CORROSION UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE FOR STATES THAT USE ROAD SALT IN THE WINTER. CURRENTLY THERE IS A REPAIR CAMPAIGN GOING ON WITH NISSAN ALTIMA CORROSION ISSUES, AND I AM CONCERNED MANY OTHER MURANO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS MINE. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED NISSAN, AND OPENED A SAFETY CONCERN WITH THEM. THE REFERENCE NUMBER IS 38078953 NISSAN SAYS THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR CAMPAIGNS WITH THIS 2007 NISSAN MURANO FOR CORROSION.

BOUGHT THE CAR 5 MONTHS AGO. WAS DRIVING AWESOME. BRAND NEW TIRES! VERY WELL MAINTAINED WITH LOTS OF PAPERWORK STATING WORK DONE ON VEHICLE!..:WELL WAS DRIVING IT THE OTHER DAY WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND IT STARTED TO OVER HEAT I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AFTER GOING 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY FOR OVER AN HOUR. I'M NOW STUCK ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY TODDLER IN THE 80 DEGREE WEATHER WHEN I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS MY RADIATOR. THE STATE POLICE NOTICE MY REAR 2 TIRES SLANTED , TOP LEANING IN BOTTOM LEANING OUT. AFTER THE CAR GETS PUT ON THE FLAT BED TOW I SPOT MY REAR CROSSMEMBER K FRAME SPLIT IN 2 SPOTS! RADIATOR WAS MY SIGN TELLING ME MY AWD IS ACTING UP SOMETHING HAPPENED. IF I WOULD HAVE HIT ONE SMALL BUMP ON THAT HIGHWAY I WOULDN'T BE HERE TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO NISSAN! THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!! AND MADE SURE ALL VEHICLES ARE SAFE FOR ANYONE TO BE IN. MY VEHICLE IS 12 YEARS OLD NO WAY SHOULD THAT FRAME EVEN BE ABLE TO SNAP NOT IN ONE BUT TWO SPOTS ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. I MY CAR OVERHEATING WAS A BLESSING BECAUSE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. THIS WILL BE BROUGHT TO BIGGER ATTENTION BECAUSE ALL NISSAN OWNERS NEED TO BE AWARE AND THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED !!!!!!

DRIVING ON A SLICK HIGHWAY THE REAREND OF THE MURANO WAS FISHTAILING. THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS MAKING NOISES, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SUDDENLY WAY OFF CENTER. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO INSPECT. IT WAS NOTED THE THE REAR SWAYBAR HAD SEPARATED FROM THE REAR CROSSMEMBER /SUBFRAME AND THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED AND CRACKED AND RUSTED THROUGH TO FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND WAS TOLD TO IMMEDIATELY STOP DRIVING IT. THE REAR WHEELS WERE TILTED OUTWARD AND A BIG SAFETY HAZARD. SUBFRAME NEAR TOTAL SEPARATION FROM VEHICLE. MURANO IS NOW A TOTAL LOSS. COST TO REPAIR TOO EXTENSIVE.

I OWN A 2007 NISSAN MURANO SL AWD. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER FOR ALMOST ALL OF THE SERVICE TO MY CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER LOCAL MECHANIC TO VERIFY THE NEED FOR LOWER FRONT CONTROL ARMS. THE NISSAN DEALER QUOTED ~ $900 FOR THIS SERVICE. TO MY SURPRISE, MY 2ND MECHANIC; WHO I HAVE DONE BUSINESS WITH FOR YEARS, TELLS ME THAT I DON'T NEED CONTROL ARMS BUT A NEW SUB FRAME. THE REAR SUBFRAME ON THE MURANO IS COMPLETELY RUSTED. IT IS ALMOST TO THE POINT WHERE THE REAR AXLE CAN COLLAPSE. I DID A SEARCH AND DISCOVERED THERE ARE NUMEROUS NISSAN MURANO AND QUEST OWNERS THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. NISSAN HAS TO HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS. BUT WHAT REALLY BOTHERS ME THE MOST IS THAT MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER DID NOT MENTION THIS TO ME. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THAT SHOP DOZENS OF TIMES OVER THE YEARS. IT IS THERE FOR STATE INSPECTION EVERY YEAR............AND NO ONE NOTICED.

MY NISSAN 2007 MURANO SESUBFRAME RUSTED AND CRACKED AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I COULD HAVE HAD A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR EVEN KILLED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. I NOTICED THE CAR HANDLED VERY POORLY IN SNOW/ICE/WET CONDITIONS OVER THE WINTER. THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE MECHANIC NOTICED BOTH REAR TIRES WERE WORN DOWN TO NOTHING ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, HE FOUND THAT THE REAR SUBFRAME HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKEN INTO TWO. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED THIS PAST SUMMER, BUT I HAVE THE SERVICE RECORDS AND I KNOW IT WAS PROPERLY MAINTAINED. THE ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIRS IS MORE THAN I CAN AFFORD ($5,000). I CONTACTED NISSAN TO SEE IF THEY WOULD PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS AND I SPOKE WITH 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE (FIRST CONSUMER AFFAIRS, THEN A SUPERVISOR, AND FINALLY A MANAGER), WHO ALL TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE "NOT IN A POSITION TO ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY". THE LAST PERSON (MANAGER, CONSUMER AFFAIRS) WOULDN'T EVEN LET ME SPEAK BEFORE HE TOLD ME THEY WOULDN'T OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. WHEN I ASKED IF THERE WAS SOMEONE ELSE I COULD SPEAK WITH, I WAS TOLD NO - THERE ISN'T ANYONE ELSE WHO WOULD TALK TO ME AND THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST ME. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I AM FORTUNATE THAT BOTH OF THE TIRES DID NOT BLOW OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY. I AM SHOCKED THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED AS I SEE OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE.

MY 2007 NISSAN MURAN HAS APPROX 125,000 MILES. I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF IT. IT HAS NICE TIRES AND THE MOST RECENT 4WHEEL ALIGNMENTS WHERE APPROX JAN AND FEB 2018. FOR WHATEVER REASON I GOT IN ONE DAY LAST SUMMER AND AS SOON AS I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY MY SEAT FELT AS IF I GOT PUSH BACKWARD AND MY SEAT BRACKET HAD JUST BROKE, I NOW HAVE BRICKS HOLDING UP MY $28,000 RIDE! JULY 26, 2018 SOMEONE PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY HITTING MY PARKED VEHICLE AND QUICKLY DRIVING AWAY. THEY HIT IT HARD ENOUGH TO DENT THE BUMPER AND TOW BAR. I IMMEDIATELY COULD TELL THE REAR END WAS WAY OFF. PROGRESSIVE REFUSES TO PAY FOR THIS AS THEY SAID MY CROSSMEMBER COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH AS WELL AS SOME OF MY FRAME AND SOME OTHER PARTS.. THEY SAY IF THE VEHICLE HAD NOT HAD SUCH A SERIOUS RUST PROBLEM -WHICH IS NOT AGE APPROPRIATE TO MY VEHICLE-THEN IT WOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN IN HALF TOWING MY TIRES IN AS WELL FROM THAT HIT. COVERAGE IS VOIDED LIKE A POOR WORKMANSHIP DEAL! THE SHOP I HAVE IT AT RIGHT NOW SAYS ITS SO FAR GONE IT IS SERIOUSLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS. DUE TO NISSANS PREMATURE RUST ISSUES MY CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE AND MY DRIVERS SEAT ISNT SAFE AS WELL. PROGRESSIVE AUTO INSURANCE IS REFUSING TO STAND BY MY FULL COVERAGE POLICY AND APPARENTLY ARE LEGALLY ABLE TO DO SO BECAUSE THE SUBSTANDARD PARTS GIVE THEM THAT ESCAPE CLAUSE. I STILL OWE ON THIS VEHICLE. I REALLY NEED NISSAN TO MAKE THIS RIGHT AS THEY HAVE EVEN MADE IT SO IT WAS UNINSURABLE AS I PAID AND I NEVER EVEN KNEW IT. I HAVE MY CAR IN PLACES FOR ALIGNMENTS, TIRES, OIL CHANGES ETC ETC AND NOONE EVER TOLD ME IT WAS RUSTING OR RUSTED AWAY. THE PROGRESSIVE AGENT HAD LOOKED AT MY MURANO UPON THE 1ST INSPECTION AND NEVER EVEN TOLD ME ABOUT THE DANGER I WAS IN DRIVING. NISSAN HAS CREATED A PROBLEM THAT HAS PROMPTED MY PROGRESSIVE ADJUSTER TO PLACE MY SAFETY AT RISK SO THEY CAN GET OUT OF PAYING. I TOOK CARE OF MY CAR!

UPON LEAVING THE SHOP, IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE WAS TILTED IN FURTHER AND MUFFLER WAS SIGNIFICANTLY DROPPED. UNABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE DUE TO SUBFRAME COLLAPSING DUE TO RUST. Nov 11, 2018

I WAS PULLING OUT OF A GAS STATION WHEN A FRIEND POINTED OUT THAT THE MUFFLER/EXHAUST PIPES OF VEHICLE WERE HANGING VERY LOW TO THE GROUND. MECHANIC INSPECTED IT AND REAR SUBFRAME RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKEN. THE REAR WHEELS ARE WORN ON THE INSIDE AND ARE MISALIGNED. THEY ARE TILTING IN TOWARDS EACH OTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT AND FOR THE REPAIR. I WAS GIVEN A CASE # AND ASKED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF OWNERSHIP. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM A FAMILY MEMBER. AS THE CAR WAS INOPERABLE I HAD AAA TOW IT TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP. NOTICED THERE WAS SOMETHING OFF ABOUT MY CAR WHEN MY TIRES LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE TILTING IN. WHEN I HAD IT LOOKED AT THEY NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE BACK SUSPENSION FRAME WAS COMPLETLY RUSTED OUT AND BROKEN IN TWO PLACES. I WAS TOLD I WAS LUCKY THAT I HADNT LOST THE BACK END ALREADY AND IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF A TIME OR A BAD BUMP AWAY. MY MECHANIC ADVISED THAT MY TODDLER AND I ARE NOT TO USE THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE INCREASED POTENTIAL OF A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH I FOUND THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE CARS AND WAS SURPRISED THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON SOMETHING AS FAULTY AND DANGEROUS AS THIS.

DRIVING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY DOING ABOUT 35 TO 40 MPH. PUT ON BRAKES AND THE ENTIRE REAR END BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND MAKE A RUMBLING NOISE. THE REAR TIRES ARE LEANING INWARD ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLES WHICH THROWS OFF THE STABALIZATION OF THE VEHICLE MAKING IT UNSAFE AND DIFFICULT TO STEER OR STOP. THE ENTIRE STABALIZATION BAR AND THE MOUNTING BRACKETS SUPPORTING IT RUSTED THROUGH ON THE LEFT SIDE AND DISLODGED AND THE RIGHT SIDE IS READY TO DISLODGE FROM THE BODY AT ANY TIME. THERE IS NOTHING TO SUPPORT THE BAR SO IT CAN INADVENTERLY FALL AND HIT THE HIGHWAY AND DO DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE CAR OR CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO FLIP. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THEY CALLED NISSAN AND OF COURSE NO RECALL OR ASSISTANCE TO FIX THE VEHICLE WHICH IS OVER 2000 DOLLARS. THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DROPS BLOCKING YOUR VISION UNEXPECTANTLY CREATING A VISION ISSUE AND CONCENTRATION ISSUE WHILE DRIVING. I PURCHASED MY 2007 MURANO IN AUGUST 2011. FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE, I'VE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES. THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN A CONSTANT ISSUE, I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT STRUTS (BEFORE 60,000 MILES) AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE REAR SHOCKS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR IS BROKEN, 2 MONTHS AGO IT BEGAN LEAKING OIL FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON, AND NOW THE FRONT SEAT IS BROKEN, CAUSING THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE SEAT TO 'FLOAT'. I WEIGH 140 LBS SO IT'S NOT LIKE I'VE CAUSED ANY UNDUE STRESS ON THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 70,000 MILES. I CANNOT AFFORD TO MAKE ALL THE REPAIRS - BUT CANNOT SELL IT UNTIL I DO MAKE THEM (WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WANTS TO PURCHASE A CAR THAT NEEDS $2500 POURED INTO IT FOR REPAIRS, WITH NEW ISSUES OCCURRING ON A REGULAR BASIS). IT'S A SHAME THAT NISSAN CAN PRODUCE SOMETHING OF SUCH POOR QUALITY AND NOT BE FORCED TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. THIS IS THE WORST CAR I'VE EVER OWNED. IF I CAN EVER GET RID OF THIS IT I'LL NEVER OWN ANOTHER NISSAN. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN MURANO WITH ABOUT 58,000 MILES AND ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO WHEN IT HAD ABOUT 50,000 MILES, I HAD TO REPLACE THE LEFT OUTER TIE ROD. JUST RECENTLY, I HAD TO REPLACE THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS BECAUSE THE BALL JOINTS WERE BADLY WORN. I DIDN'T NOTICE ANY HANDLING, STEERING, RATTLING OR ANY OTHER UNUSUAL ISSUES BEFORE THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED. I DON'T DRIVE THE CAR OVER ROUGH ROADS OR ABUSE IT IN ANY WAY. THESE DEFECTS WERE DETECTED WHEN THE TIRES WERE ROTATED. IT MAKES ME WONDER WHAT ELSE WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS IN THE SUSPENSION IF THESE THINGS WENT WRONG WITH RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE. THERE ARE NO RECALLS THAT I CAN DETECT AND THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE BASIC WARRANTY SO I PLAN TO CALL THE DEALER AND DO A LOT OF COMPLAINING. *TR

2007 NISSAN MURANO AWD W/ 84K MILES. TOOK VEHICLE INTO NISSAN DEALER SERVICE DEPT. IN JULY FOR NOISES IN ENGINE AREA. DIAGNOSED AS BAD WHEEL BEARINGS ON 1 SIDE OF VEHICLE COST $600.00. RETURNED TO DEALER APPROX. 1 MONTH LATER, AGAIN HEARING NOISES COMING FROM ENGINE AREA. WAS AGAIN DIAGNOSED W/BAD WHEEL BEARINGS ON OTHER SIDE & WAS TOLD REPLACEMENT FROM 1 MONTH PRIOR WAS DEFECTIVE & NEEDED REPLACEMENT AGAIN. QUESTIONED DEALER SERVICE DEPT. DIAGNOSIS, INDICATING THAT I ALSO SMELLED EITHER OIL BURNING OR SOME KIND OF FLUID BURNING WHEN DRIVING. WITHOUT FURTHER EXAMINATION OF VEHICLE, SERVICE DEPT. RECOMMENDED A FLUID FLUSH, I INDICATED THAT THE FLUIDS HAD JUST BEEN FLUSHED 1 MONTH PRIOR, WAS TOLD NO OTHER PROBLEMS WERE INDICATED WHEN VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED EARLIER THAT DAY. SMELL OF OIL OR FLUID WAS DISMISSED BY SERVICE DEPT. RECEIVED A CALL LATER THAT DAY FROM SERVICE DEPT. INDICATING REPAIRS TO DEFECTIVE WHEEL BEARING & SECOND WHEEL BEARING COMPLETED, CAR READY FOR PICK UP $400 BILL. PICKED UP VEHICLE @ APPROX. 5:30 PM. AS I DROVE HOME THERE WAS A GOOD AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC & VEHICLE SPEED DID NOT EXCEED 30 MPH FOR MAJORITY OF TRIP. UPON CLEARING OF TRAFFIC & FURTHER ACCELERATION TO APPROX. 45 MPH, THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY LOUD BANG THAT CAME FROM WHAT SOUNDED LIKE THE ENGINE AREA OF MY VEHICLE, ACCOMPANIED BY A DRAGGING & GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY VEHICLE BRINGING MY VEHICLE TO A QUICK STOP. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE BOTTOM OF MY VEHICLE FELL OFF. I MANAGED TO PULL VEHICLE OVER TO SAFETY & NEXT DAY HAD VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO DEALER. I WAS THEN INFORMED BY DEALER THAT THE TRANSFER CASE ON MY VEHICLE HAD BROKEN, THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BEYOND THE WARRANTY & THE REPAIR COST IS $3,400. THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM IN THE AWD MODEL. THERE ARE MANY SIMILAR INCIDENTS POSTED ON THE INTERNET. THIS PART IS DEFECTIVE & NEEDS INVESTIGATION, HAD I BEEN ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC, PLEASE HELP! DON'T WAIT UNTIL A TRUE TRAGEDY OCCURS. *TR
