I purchased 2012 Nissan Murano in Jul 2012. Recently the Airbag light is on and keeps flashing when start the car. It happened since 6 months ago. I sent my car to the local Nissan Dealer, they charged me $149 diagnostic fee + $1500 to replace the Airbag DIAG unit under the center console. After the replacement, the airbag light is still on and flashing. My car cannot pass the annual inspection because of the airbag light. It's a big safety concern. The dealer told me I need to get the passenger seat bottom sensor replaced, the pars has been discontinued. I am very surprised the airbag is related safety issue, Why Nissan discontinued the parts? And I google this issue, many Nissan car owners have the same airbag light issue. This is the most common issue and related to the customer safety. Nissan should recall it. I paid more than $1500 dollar, cannot get my problem fixed. It's unacceptable!
The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the air bag control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. Also, while operating the vehicle, the tire pressure monitoring system warning light activated although the tire air pressures were normal. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

Airbags have malfunctioned. I was told the whole passenger seat needed to be replaced which costs more than the car is worth. No safety recall for this year. I know I’m not the only one with this issue.
2012 Nissan Murano. Airbag red light always blinking plus passenger seat airbag says it’s “off”. Loads of similar complaints on web sites. Took to Annapolis Nilsson on Riva Road today. They were very aware of issue but said there is no recall. So both airbags will not inflate, not just passenger seat. Web complaints confirm this with actual accidents and there is no recall? Dealership said NONE of the parts including seat are available any more(I would guess because they all failed) but were told if we found the parts and seat at a used parts place then the dealership would put in for a cost but there would NOT be any warranty! Really? There should be a recall on this issue, how can we get this?
I have a 95 yrs. old Mother who I transport to appointments etc. and I am not feeling safe in our 2012 Nissan Murano due to the airbag malfunctioning. I have read numerous reports that state if there was ever an accident with these airbags that they would not potentially work or deploy and also that they could possibly release for just any reason at all and these two reasons alone are enough to know that this is a safety hazard and could cost both my Mother and myself, our lives. I have read many complaints regarding these same airbags located on the passenger side of our vehicle. I am asking that this problem be resolved immediately because it is very dangerous and disturbing. Please contact me and my Mother at 937-380-7064.
2012 NISSAN MURANO PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATING. RECEIVING DIAGNOSTIC CODE B10818. SEAT IS NOT RECONIZING WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN SEAT AND POSES A SAFTEY HAZARD TO PASSENGER. WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON 08/15/2022.
Supplemental Air Bags Flashing on dashboard. Brought to Nissan dealership. Was able to stop blinking for five days. Brought back to dealership. Still there. Air bags may not expand during an accident or may activate without warning with no accident. My wife has osteoarthritis and is highly susceptible to serious injury as a result of either of the former incidents happening.
The airbag indicator light on dash blinks once, then five rapid blinks continuously. Took to Nissan dealership for repair. Charged $135 for diagnostics. They claimed the passenger seat air bag and bottom seat cushion would need to be replaced. That if the airbag indicator light was flashing none of the airbags work. The quote for repair was $2,884.98 before taxes. This is a 2012 Nissan Murano so a very expensive repair for a safety feature on a 10 year old car. Declined the repair. Dealership claims this is not a recall. It should be a recall. And why does one faulty airbag embedded in a passenger seat disable the remaining air bags? The Murano mileage is 49607. The airbag error code is B1018. Very frustrating to have a low mileage car with the airbag system inoperable and very expensive to repair. This faulty part should be repaired by Nissan free to owners to enable the safety features to operate normally.
Passenger air bag is not working because of the seat sensor, (error code B1018 occ sensor fail). The 2012s have not been recalled, they did recall 2013 models(??). According to the blogs, this is a big problem with the 2012s. At this time dealership requested that I pay up front for the part, seat sensor $2,000.00. That was back in November 2021. Currently still waiting on the part. I have called customer service at Nissan; they were no help.
SRS/AIRBAGS LIGHT FLASHING PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF. The airbag will not deploy if in a crash. Nissan code B1018 is diagnosed as needing the whole passenger seat replace due to the occupancy sensor in passenger seat. Nissan quoted repair at $5000.00 to replace. Called Nissan and started case 45708222 on 2/4/22. Was told no safety recall on the 2012 Murano and Murano is too far out for Nissan to assist. In researching Nissan has had this safety issue since 2008 and there have been recalls on certain models but not 2012. I feel Nissan such stand behind this type of safety issue of this magnitude. The vehicle was purchased new and probably 75% of the 61,500 miles there was no passenger in the seat. What factor has to come into play for a safety recall to be issued? Is it number of fatalities that occur for the occupancy sensor not deploying the airbags? I also tried to find out if Nissan has stopped using this type seat/sensors in the new models. Customer rep told me I needed to ask the dealer. The dealer had told me to ask Nissan so I'm at a loss on whether Nissan has changed to avoid this safety issue. I've always been pleased with Nissan and was considering trading this Murano for a 2022 Platinum but since this has occurred my opinion is changing on the Nissan. Nissan has had a safety issue with these sensors since 2008 and forward. Nissan should have recalled any make/model that is/was equipped with the faulty occupancy passenger airbag sensors that could/can fail and cause bodily harm or death. Or even at least compensate on some of the expense. This is just wrong.
Car had a collision that totaled the car on 1/1/2022 & no air bags deployed. Officers on scene were very concerned that this safety feature did not engage due to the impact. The other vehicle involved air bags deployed but not ours.
Airbag waring indicator light came on. Passenger seat airbag disabled warning light came on as well. Performed a reset, and both lights stayed off for a few days, then came back on again. Took car to dealer who would not even do a brief check that day, scheduled appointment for nearly 3 weeks later. Today the dealer gave us the Code B1018 and offered an estimate of over $4300 for repairs. With all the recalls of similar Nissan airbag devices, including 2013 Nissan Murano's, I am filing this complaint because there may also be a pattern of similar failures for 2012 Murano's. I have contacted the Nissan consumer complaint center, filed my concern, and advised them we would be notifying NHTSA as well as seeking potential legal remedies. Local dealer is 5 Star Nissan in Albany GA.
PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY FLASHES. CAR HAS 28,600 MILES AND ALMOST NEVER HAS HAD A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. DRIVEN BY SINGLE, WIDOWED DRIVER. CAR IS ROUTINELY SERVICED AT DEALER. GOT A QUOTE OF OVER $5200 TO REPAIR. I HAVE READ A FEW OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THIS MODEL WITH MUCH HIGHER MILEAGE. NISSAN SAYS THEY ARE NOT TAKING NOT RESPONSIBILITY AND I SHOULD CONTACT THIS AGENCY, $5200 IS ROUGHLY MORE THAN HALF OF THE VALUE OF THE CAR AND NON-REPAIR MAKES IT UNSAFE SHOULD AN OCCASIONAL PASSENGER SIT IN THE SIT AND ALMOST NON-SALABLE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE.

WE RECENTLY BOUGHT AN OUT OF WARRANTY, AS IS 2012 NISSAN MURANO AND THE DASH AIRBAG LIGHT AND PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT ARE BOTH ON. THEY NEVER GO OFF AFTER THE INITIAL 7 SECOND WAIT TIME. VEHICLE IN MOTION OR STANDING STILL DOESN'T MATTER. I HAVE SCANNED FOR CODES AND B1018-00 KEEPS COMING BACK AFTER ATTEMPTING TO ERASE. NORMAL SIZED PEOPLE SIT IN THESE TWO SEATS AND USE THEIR SEAT BELTS RELIGIOUSLY SO "MISALIGNED SEATING" IS NOT THE CASE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND A FEW OTHERS HAVE HAD THE EXACT PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY NISSAN REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE AND SUCH BUT I'M SEEING THAT PEOPLE ARE GETTING A "OH WELL" KIND OF RESPONSE FROM NISSAN. IF THERE'S A CLASS ACTION SUIT TO GET IN, I WILL. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT THIS AS OF YET BUT WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO AT LEAST SPEND BIG DOLLARS TO GET IT SCANNED AND DIAGNOSED AT A DEALERSHIP.

PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND WILL NOT RESET. VEHICLE HAS 116,000 MILES, CODE B1018 CODE WHICH CALLS FOR PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR AND MODULE ASSEMBLY. THIS PART IS PART OF THE SEAT ITSELF WHICH NISSAN CHARGES $4000 FOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE NO ONE IS GOING TO PAY $4000 PLUS COST TO INSTALL JUST TO HAVE A PASSENGER AIRBAG. THIS COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE BE AVOIDED IF THE COST TO REPAIR WAS REASONABLE. NISSAN HAD A FLAWED DESIGN WHERE THE INEXPENSIVE PARTS WERE NOT SEPARATE FROM THE VERY EXPENSIVE SEAT. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY HAVE NO INTEREST IN HELPING OUT.

MY 2012 NISSAN MURANO HAS APPROX 119,000 MILES ON IT. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON INDICATING THAT THE AIRBAG IS OFF, EVEN WHEN THERE IS SOMEONE IN THE PASSENGER'S SEAT, EVEN WHEN IT'S A FULL GROWN ADULT. IN ADDITION, I HAVE A FLASHING RED AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY DASH AS WELL. AFTER A COUPLE WEEKS OF THIS, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AS LISTED IN THE MANUAL. THEY SAID THE SENSOR WENT OUT AND THE ENTIRE SEAT CUSHION FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ~$5300. I ONLY PAID $11000 FOR THE VEHICLE TO BEGIN WITH. THERE'S NO WAY I WILL BE PAYING HALF THE VEHICLE'S WORTH FOR A BASIC SAFETY NECESSITY. I BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD PAY FOR ANY COSTS RELATED TO A SAFETY ISSUE SUCH AS THIS AND IT APPEARS THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY VEHICLE OWNER EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. PLEASE RECTIFY THE SITUATION AND DO A RECALL FOR THESE AIRBAGS OR FOR THE SENSORS IN THE SEAT CUSHIONS. IT'S NOT RIGHT TO PUT US ALL IN DANGER LIKE THIS.

MY HORN OR CRUISE CONTROL IN STEERING WHEEL NO LONGER WORKS. AIRBAGS LIGHT BLINKS ONE LOND TIME AND THE 2 SHORT TIMES REPEATEDLY.
Mileage: 117,904
VEHICLE IS MOSTLY STATIONARY IN THE GARAGE, ONLY 46K MILES FOR 2012. AIR BAG STARTING FLASHING AND WILL NOT RESET. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS, TECHNICIAN STATED LIGHT CAUSED BY FAULTY AIR BAG SENSING UNIT. TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDS REPLACING THE DIAGNOSTIC UNIT AND PASSENGER SEAT BOTTOM. $5700 AND AIR BAG WILL NOT WORK IF IN ACCIDENT.

PASSENGER SEAT WARNING LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME

PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR IN SEAT FAULTY. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE ON OTHER MODELS AND IT IS NOW AN ISSUE ON MINE. INDICATOR LIGHT "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" ON CONSTANTLY. WARNING LIGHT ON DASH CONSTANTLY FLASHING.

AFTER I STARTED MY VEHICLE AFTER FEW SECOND SMOKE CAME OUT FROM STEERING WHEEL. WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER THEY FOUND OUT MY STEERING WHEEL FIRE HAZARD AND AIR BAG GOT DESTROYED.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE RECEIVED 2 LETTERS FROM NHTSA RELATING TO MY VEHICLE HAVING AIR BAGS HAVING BEEN IDENTIFIED AS HAVING DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS.. I THINK THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE FORCED TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX MY VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. INDICATOR LIGHT UNDER HEATING/AIR CONDITION PANEL INDICATED BAG OFF ON PASSENGER SIDE DIAGNOSTIC SCAN REQUESTED FROM DEALER REVEALED THAT "OCCUPANT SENSOR UNIT FAILED." "RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF PASSSENGER AIR BAG SYSTEM AND SENSORS AT A COST OF $3,563.13." NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS TWICE REJECTED MY REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR REPAIR, "BECAUSE IT WAS NOT LISTED IN THE CAMPAIGN" (RECALL LIST). MILEAGE WAS 69,772. UPDATED 03/16/17*LJ *CN

I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND IT TOOK OVER 3 HOURS TO COMPLETE. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE BUT THEY WOULD NOT TELL ME MORE EXCEPT THAT IT HAD TO DO WITH THE AIR BAGS AND THE COMPUTER. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET MORE INFORMATION FROM THE DEALER AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS VIA PHONE AND LETTER. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT IS SAFETY RELATED AND THAT THEY ARE HIDING SOMETHING DANGEROUS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL SANK TO THE FLOOR AND FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING UP TO SPECIFICATIONS. THE SECOND TIME THE FAILURE RECURRED, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED FRACTURES TO THE RIBS AND ANKLE. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRUISED RIBS AND A FRACTURED ARM. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. UPDATED 08/03/16*LJ

PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS NOT ENGAGED. INDICATOR IS ON APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE TIME, WHEN MY 84 POUND DAUGHTER IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS MEANS THAT 50% OF THE TIME, MY DAUGHTER IS SUPPOSEDLY NOT PROTECTED BY THE AIR BAG. THIS IS TROUBLESOME. THE INTERMITTENT, SEEMINGLY RANDOM NATURE OF THE INDICATOR DOES NOT INSTILL CONFIDENCE IN THE PROTECTION THAT I PAID FOR AND IS ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER ON 12/28/12. I ASKED THE NISSAN SERVICE TECHNICIAN WHAT WEIGHT WAS REQUIRED TO ENGAGE THE AIR BAG PROTECTION, AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT ENTIRELY A WEIGHT TEST. SHE SAID THAT YOU HAVE TO SIT JUST RIGHT ON THE SEAT. THIS SEEMED RIDICULOUS. BY ALL APPEARANCE, MY PASSENGERS ALWAYS SIT IN THE NORMAL FASHION. (HOW SHOULD ONE SIT???) IN ANY CASE, ADJUSTING THEIR POSITION DID NOT SHUT OFF THE INDICATOR LIGHT. CLEARLY, 84 POUNDS SHOULD ALLOW SOMEONE TO SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT. (THIS SEEMS LIKE A FLAWED DESIGN-I WANT THAT AIR BAG ON AT ALL TIMES). I STOW ALL OBJECTS IN THE BACK SEAT. IF SOMEONE STOWS AN OBJECT ON THE FRONT SEAT, THEY HAVE TO BEAR THE CONSEQUENCES. CERTAINTY, THE PRIORITY SHOULD BE THE SAFETY OF A PASSENGER. THE LACK OF PROTECTION IS TROUBLESOME... LOOKING AT THAT INDICATOR (SOMETIMES-BUT NEVER KNOWING WHEN) IS ANNOYING. SO TOO, ONE HAS TO WONDER ABOUT A FALSE POSITIVE INDICATOR LIGHT.. OF COURSE, SUCH WORRY COULD BE ELIMINATED WITH STRICT WEIGHT CUTOFF OF SAY, 25 POUNDS. WHEN I ASKED IF SHE COULD TEACH ME HOW TO CORRECTLY SIT IN THE SEAT, I WAS REFERRED TO MY SALES PERSON... AS IF HE HAD AN ANSWER. JUST MORE RIDICULOUS.. PASS ME ON AND WEAR ME DOWN UNTIL I SURRENDER AND GO AWAY. NOT A GOOD RESPONSE TO AN OBVIOUS SAFETY DESIGN FLAW. I WANT SOMEONE TO HARD WIRE THIS AR BAG TO THE ON POSITION SO EVERYONE IS PROTECTED AT ALL TIMES.. WITHOUT WORRY.
