TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED, BUT WAS ABLE TO RESTART. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY REVVED UP AND ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S DYNAMIC CONTROL SLIP OFF, SERVICE ENGINE SOON, AND WASHER FLUID WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 37003562. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 175,000.

ALL 4 OF MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED (OR NEED TO BE REPLACED - I'VE ALREADY REPLACED BANK 1. NOW BANK 2 IS BAD) IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS OR SO AND NOW MY RADIATOR IS LEAKING INTO MY TRANSMISSION. I DISCOVERED THERE WAS A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT ON THE RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION ISSUE, BUT I'M OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. WITH RESPECT TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, I OCCASIONALLY SMELL EXHAUST, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS STAY ON. WITH THE TRANSMISSION, IT STARTED OUT AS GEAR SLIPPING, CAUSING ROUGH DRIVING (WHICH THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER). THEN, IT STARTED RUNNING SLOW OUT OF FIRST GEAR AND HARD SHIFTING. I TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION PLACE THAT PULLED TRANSMISSION CODES AND WHEN THEY DROPPED THE PAN, THE FLUID LOOKED LIKE A MILKSHAKE. THE ROUGH DRIVING/GEARS SLIPPING DIDN'T MATTER - IT COULD BE ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN THE CITY. I DON'T KNOW THE EXACT DATE IN 2018 THAT I HAD THE ISSUE, BUT I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR A YEAR.

I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN THE CAR SHUDDERED AS IF GOING OVER ROUGH PAVEMENT. THE ENGINE STARTED RACING, BUT THE CAR GRADUALLY LOST FORWARD PROPULSION. I STEERED TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND STOPPED. AFTER A MINUTE, THE CAR REGAINED JUST ENOUGH FORWARD MOTION TO GET ME TO THE NEXT EXIT, ACROSS AN INTERSECTION (WHERE THE LIGHT JUST HAPPENED TO BE GREEN, THANK GOODNESS), AND INTO THE PARKING LOT OF A LARGE GROCERY STORE BEFORE THE VEHICLE LOST ALL PROPULSION. WE PUSHED THE CAR THE LAST FEW FEET INTO A PARKING SPOT. IT WAS TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THE NEXT DAY THAT THE TRANSMISSION WARMER HAD FAILED, ALLOWING RADIATOR COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH RUINED THE TRANSMISSION. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $6000. I CANNOT PUT ANOTHER $6000 INTO A 13-YEAR-OLD VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH I'VE ONLY HAD IT FOR FIVE MONTHS, SO NOW I'VE LOST THE MONEY I PUT INTO IT AND WILL HAVE TO START OVER WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR THE CITY STREET, THE CAR STARTED TO JERK AND THEN SUDDENLY CUT OFF AND LOSE POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST FIVE TIMES AT NORMAL HIGHWAY AND FREEWAY SPEEDS IN A STRAIGHT FORWARD MOTION. WHILE ON THE FREEWAY, I WAS ABLE TO GLIDE OVER TO STOP THE CAR AND RESTART IT. THE CAR STARTS RIGHT BACK UP AND IS DRIVABLE.THE LAST TIME WAS ON THE CITY STREET, I WAS GOING ABOUT 35-40MPH AND THE CAR AGAIN JERKS AND THE ENGINE CUTS OFF AND LOOSES POWER. HOWEVER, THIS TIME THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP PREVENTING ME TO GET OVER. I HAD TO STOP THE CAR BY BREAKING DIRECTLY IN THE LANE NEARLY CAUSING CARS TO SLAM INTO ME. AGAIN, ONCE I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK I AM ABLE TO START THE ENGINE AND DRIVE AGAIN. AFTER THIS FIRST HAPPENED, I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A TUNE-UP, OIL CHANGE, AND A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT NOTHING READ AS AN ERROR. I DO NOT DRIVE FAR DISTANCES JUST MAINLY AROUND TOWN AND HAVE RECEIVED REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON MY VEHICLE. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE THE LOSE OF POWER DOES NOT HAPPEN CONSISTENTLY BUT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN IT DOES AND CAN DEFINITELY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT/INJURY/DEATH IF SOMEONE IS DRIVING TOO CLOSE. I LOOKED UP RECALLS AND FOUND RECALL10V517000. IT SAYS THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2004-2006 NISSAN PATHFINDERS BUT MY VIN # IS NOT EXCEPTED. MECHANICS, (GOT 3 ESTIMATES) ALL SAID SAME THING; THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THESE PATHFINDERS. MY COST IS ABOUT 6,500. I HAD JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FOR 8,500 ABOUT 3 WEEKS PRIOR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INITIALLY STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTIONED. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT CRANK. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE FAILED. HEADQUARTER NISSAN (1725 WHITTLESEY RD, COLUMBUS, GA 31904, (706) 225-8100) INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER AGREED WITH THE DEALER AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL IN 2011 AND COULD NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

SOME HOSES INSIDE THE RADIATOR THAT CARRIES TRANSMISSION FLUID AND COOLANT CRACKED AND CONTAMINATED BOTH THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO LOCK INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND CONTAMINATED BOTH MY RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION THIS PROBLEM WILL NEED TO BE REPAIRED BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAN BE DRIVEN. IT WILL BE A COSTLY REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE COVERED BY NISSAN ON A RECALL ACCORDING TO ALL THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ ABOUT.

HAVE A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE, WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH THE CAR SHUT OFF AND I LOST TOTAL POWER OF THE CAR AND THANKFULLY WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WITHOUT GETTING KILLED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2X I LOOS TOTAL POWER AND THE CAR SHUTS OFF. I CALLED NISSAN TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND THEY SAID NO, HOWEVER THERE IS A RECALL #10V517000 WHICH NISSAN SAYS MY CAR IS NOT INVOLVED IN THAT ADVISED THIS MODEL HAD A RECALL FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM HAVING THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IT. IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS VERY REASON AND I HAVE THE MAKE & MODEL WHILE NISSAN WILL NOT INVESTIGATE WHY THIS IS HAPPENED AS IT IS A DIRECT SAFETY PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD TAKE IT INTO NISSAN FOR THEM TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS OF COURSE AT MY EXPENSE.

THE ENGINE WAS ON AND VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN WE NOTICED THE TEMPERATURE INCREASED GREATLY AND RAPIDLY UNTIL IT MAXED OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING A MIX OF ANTIFREEZE AND TRANSMISSION FLUID. WE REPLACED THE RADIATOR BUT THE DAMAGE WAS DONE ALREADY TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED DUE TO CONTAMINATION OF THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE RADIATOR FLUID ACID. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH 91,450 MILES. I NOTICE A SLIGHT SLIP IN THE TRANSMISSION ON THE WAY TO WORK. I WORK AT A AUTO REPAIR SHOP. THEY TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND FOUND NOTHING. APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS LATER, IT REALLY STARTED TO SLIP TO THE POINT I HAD TO PULL OVER, BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY. WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT IN TO THE SHOP AGAIN IT DID NOTHING. I CALLED THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER IN STROUDSBURG PA AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A "SILENT RECALL" AND TO CHECK THE FLUID IF IT WAS A MILKY COLOR, PRETTY MUCH I WAS GOING TO BE WITHOUT A CAR. I ALWAYS TOOK CARE OF MY CAR AND FOR THIS TO HAPPEN WAS A REAL BLOW. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME PRETTY MUCH THE REPAIR EXCEEDS THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. I DID CHECK THE VALUE OF MY CAR WAS APPROXIMATELY $6-7000 FOR THE SHAPE THAT IT WAS IN. THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY TO LOSE ON A VEHICLE. ALSO, THE HAZARD OF NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, I HAD TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY UNTIL I COULD GET IT TO SHIFT AND THIS KEPT REPEATING IT SELF OVER AND OVER. NISSAN HAD A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT, WHICH WHEN I CALLED NISSAN DIRECTLY THEY SAID IT DID NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER. I BELIEVE NISSAN KNEW THIS WAS A DEFECT AND ONLY IF YOU COMPLAINED ABOUT IT DID YOU GET ATTENTION FROM THE COMPANY. I HAD AN ADDRESS CHANGE SO I DO NOT KNOW IF I RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION ON THIS TYPE OF ISSUE. I WAS THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE AND BELIEVED THAT NISSAN SHOULD MAKE GOOD FOR THE REPAIRS IT WILL COST.

WE HAVE A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER THAT HAS TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE RADIATOR. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT THAT NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR. WE FOLLOWED ALL RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE, MOST OF WHICH WAS AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NEGLIGENT IN ITS INSPECTION AND REPAIR OF OUR VEHICLE. WHEN WE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND HAD BOTH TRANSMISSION AND COOLANT CONTAMINATION, THEY FAILED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. TWO NISSAN DEALERSHIP INSPECTIONS IN MAY 2016 OUTLINED THAT ALL WAS WELL WITH OUR VEHICLE, EVEN AFTER WE FOUND THAT THERE WAS NO TRANSMISSION FLUID ON OUR DIPSTICK, AND IT DID NOT APPEAR THAT THE BOLT TO CHECK THE FLUID HAD NOT BEEN RECENTLY REMOVED. OUR FAMILY'S SAFETY WAS PUT AT RISK DRIVING THIS VEHICLE FOR OVER A MONTH, WHILE IT WAS EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND RISKED ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO HEAVILY CONTAMINATED COOLANT. AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF SYMPTOMS, WE LOOKED ONLINE AND WERE SHOCKED TO SEE THE WIDESPREAD MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED. WE TOOK OUR TRUCK TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. THE NISSAN WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS OR 160,000 KILOMETERS FOR POSSIBLE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY FAILURE. ALTHOUGH OUR VEHICLE FELL WITHIN THE 10 YEAR TIME FRAME, WE WERE OUTSIDE THE KILOMETER RANGE BY 40,000 KILOMETERS. NISSAN CANADA AND CROWN NISSAN REFUSED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO US. WE FEEL THE 160,000 KM IS FAR TOO LOW FOR A 10 YEAR WARRANTY. A RECENT DODGE WARRANTY EXTENSION WAS 10 YRS, 240,000 KM. NISSAN PUT US IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION, WHERE THEY FAILED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND WE WERE OUT DRIVING FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, SOME OF WHICH INVOLVED TOWING OUR FAMILY CAMPER ON THE HIGHWAYS. NISSAN HAS BEEN NEGLIGENT ON MANY LEVELS AND A RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO THESE FAULTY RADIATORS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE THE GEAR LEVER WAS IN REVERSE, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO OPERATE. THE CONTAMINATION CAUSED INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL SHE ACCELERATION AND COULD NOT MAKE IT UP THE HILL AND MADE IT TO HER JOB. CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND WOULD NOT GO IN REVERSE. CAR WAS TOWED, AAMACO DIAGNOSIS WAS COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. MY VEHICLE HAD PROBLEMS IN 2011 WHEN A "WARRANTY NOTICE" WAS SENT REGARDING A RADIATOR PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY FOUND THAT IT WAS A TIMING BELT AND DID NOT CHANGE MY RADIATOR WHILE IT WAS UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HAD APPROXIMATEY 70,000 MILES. I NOW HAVE 160,000 MILES AND MY CAR IS ACTING UP AGAIN AND THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THE RADIATOR IS CRACKED AND LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION SO I NEED BOTH REPAIRED OR MY CAR WILL GET WORSE AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. TO ME IT APPEARS THAT THIS DEFECT WITH THE CAR WAS FROM THE INCEPTION AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED BECAUSE IT WAS BOUND TO FAIL AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED AT NISSAN'S COST. MY VEHICLE IS STILL PRETTY GOOD LOOKING BUT I FEEL IT IS ONLY A SHELL THAT I AM DRIVING BECAUSE OF THE INTERIOR RADIATOR FLAW. THEY INDICATE THAT SINCE NO RECALLS WERE MADE I HAVE TO PAY THE TOTAL OUT OF POCKET. I MISSED THE LAWSUIT IN 2013 BUT AM WILLING TO FILE ANOTHER CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IF A LAWYER IS WILLING TO ACCEPT IT. THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING WHEN I WAS DRIVING IT ON THE FREEWAY MAINLY AND IT FELT LIKE IT WAS NOT IN GEAR AND PULLING. THESE WERE ALSO MY CONCERNS IN 2011 WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO BE REPAIRED AND FIXED, BUT THEY SAID I HAD NO PROBLEMS. WELL I DO NOW AND I WOULDN'T HAVE IF THEY HAD FIXED THE DEFECTIVE RADIATOR.

HAVE CONTACTED AND STOPPED BY DEALERSHIP TO INFORM THEM ABOUT ISSUE I WAS HAVING. SHOWED TECH THERE THE SERVICE BULLITIN AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE WITH NUMEROUS VEHICLES. I WAS GIVEN THE ONLY WAY IT WAS COVERED BY NISSAN WAS IF THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. IF IT WERE NOT COVERD THAT WAY THEN I, THE CUSTOMER, WERE RESPONSIBLE TO ALL THE COST AND AND RENTAL FEES IF I CHOSE TO GET ONE WHILE IT WAS IN THE SERVICE CENTER. I WAS GIVEN THE COST ESTIMATED AT $1800 DOLLARS AND THERE WAS NO GUARENTEE THAT IT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM.. AND HAVE A NICE DAY. LEFT VERY FRUSTERATED KNOWING THERE WERE THOUSANDS MORE IN THE SAME SITUATION I'M IN NOW.

WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 25 IN SOUTH DENVER, MY PATHFINDER BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND STALL. THE ENGINE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AS I PULLED INTO A SERVICE STATION ABOUT TWO MILES AWAY. I HAD IT TOWED TO CHRISTIAN BROTHERS AUTO IN PARKER COLORADO. A RADIATOR PART BLEW, THE ENGINE OVERHEATED AND WAS DESTROYED. THE STEAM FROM THE PLASTIC RADIATOR PART ALSO DAMAGED THE MAIN COMPUTER. IT WAS CLOSE TO $10,000 FOR ALL REPAIRS RELATED TO THE RADIATOR PART FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY 8,000 MILES LATER, MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE DRIVING ON I-70 NEAR THE VAIL, COLORADO EXIT, AND THE PATHFINDER STARTED TO JERK VIOLENTLY ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65MPH. I AM AN ACTIVE DUTY MARINE AND HAVE SERVED FOR OVER 20 YEARS. MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THIS 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. SOON AFTER THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE AUTO SHOP TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AND FOUND OUT THE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION OIL MIXED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO NISSAN AND FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO COVER THIS PROBLEM; BUT I WAS OVER THE MILEAGE AND THEY WOULD NOT BE COVER MY VEHICLE. WE RECENTLY PAID OFF THE CAR; HOWEVER, NOW I AM STUCK WITH THIS TICKING TIME BOMB. THE CAR LOSES ACCELERATION VERY FREQUENTLY. I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON TO GET IT BACK TO NORMAL. MY CARS RADIATOR CRACKED AND LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE MIX OF COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID DAMAGED THE TRANSMISSION AND QUITE POSSIBLY DAMAGED MY ENGINE. NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THE RADIATOR BECAUSE THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON IT. THE REPAIRS FOR THIS INCIDENT ARE HIGH THE NISSAN DEALER I TOOK IT TO QUOTED ME $4,591.43 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR AND THAT IS WITH THE WARRANTY THEY CLAIM THEY HAVE ON IT. THE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME ANY OTHER DAMAGE CAUSED BY THIS FAULTY RADIATOR WOULD NOT BE COVERED AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS TO ANY OTHER COMPONENTS AS WELL THEY TOLD THEY ME MIGHT BE AN ADDITIONAL $2,000 SO NEARLY $7,000. I HAD KNOW CHOICE BUT SELL THE CAR OFF AS SCRAP AS THE REPAIRS WOULD COST MORE THAN THE CAR ITSELF. A FAILURE OF ALL THESE PARTS AT ONCE IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO EVERYONE.

NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS BROUGHT AGAINST NISSAN. A SETTLEMENT WAS MADE GIVING ONLY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, NOT A RECALL. WHEN I PURCHASED MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER FROM A DEALER IN 2012. VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND DEEMED SAFE TO DRIVE. I NOTICED MY TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR STAYED ON ALL THE TIME. EVEN AFTER FILLING TO THE RECOMMENDED PSI. DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT. WENT ON TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH NO ISSUES UNTIL THE NEXT YEAR WHEN I WOULD GET THIS SHAKING AND RUMBLE AT ABOUT 2500 RPM. TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG EXCEPT FOR NEEDING NEW BRAKE PADS AND ENGINE TUNE UP. HAD THAT DONE BUT STILL MY CAR CONTINUED TO RUMBLE WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE. IT WAS INTERMITTENT ON AND OFF UNTIL IT GOT SO BAD THAT I HAD TO PULL OVER AND LET MY ENGINE COOL BEFORE IT WOULD DO IT AGAIN. RECENTLY I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC AND HAD THEM LOOK AT IT. SHE RAN A TEST ON THE COMPUTER AND THE CAR GAVE CODES THAT LINKED BACK TO THE TRANSFER CASE. SHE THEN HAD IT LOOKED AT BY HER TRANSMISSION EXPERT AND HE DISCOVERED COOLANT AND FLUID INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. ONLY THEN WAS IT LINKED TO ALL OTHER OCCURRENCES THAT FALL BACK ON NISSAN. I READ ONLINE THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST NISSAN FOR FAILING RADIATORS AND TRANSMISSIONS. IT WAS NEVER BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION WHEN PURCHASING THE VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE DISPUTE. WITH IT BEING OUT OF DATE FOR ANY COVERAGES UNDER THE LAWSUIT. WHILE IN MOTION IN A VERY BUSY TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STARTED STALLING PROMPTING MY PUMPING OF THE GAS PEDAL IN PANIC, AS WELL AS DEPLOYMENT OF THE HAZARD LIGHT. THE ENERGY GENERATED FROM THE ENGINE, WHILE PUMPING THE GAS PEDAL, IS NOT BEING TRANSFERRED TO THE TRANSMISSION. EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE ROLLS TO A COMPLETE STOP WITH THE ENGINE DEAD IN THE BUSY TRAFFIC, EFFECTIVELY PUTTING ME IN HARMS WAY. I TURNED THE IGNITION AND THE ENGINE STARTED, AFTER ABOUT A QUARTER MILE IT WILL STALL AND QUIT AGAIN. THIS PROCESS REPEATED SEVERAL TIMES AND EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE QUIT FOR GOOD. PEOPLE BEHIND US HAD TO SWERVE AROUND US TO AVOID HITTING US. SOME GOOD SAMARITANS HELPED MY HUSBAND PUSH THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HE COULD NO LONGER DRIVE THE CAR. EARLIER IN THE DAY THE CAR WAS HAVING TROUBLE ACCELERATING AND WOULD JERK. WE MANAGED TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY BEFORE IT STALLED COMPLETELY. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MOSSY NISSAN AND WE WERE TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THE MANUFACTURER RADIATOR THAT CAME WITH THE CAR WAS BADLY DESIGNED. THE RADIATORS CRACK CAUSING CROSS CONTAMINATION OF THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FLUID WHICH THEN RESULTS IN COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE, WHICH IS WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR CAR. HE TOLD US THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, ACTUALLY, AND THE SETTLEMENT TERMS WERE THAT IF YOUR CAR WAS UNDER 80,000 MILES NISSAN WOULD COVER THE COST OF REPAIRS. OUR CAR HAD 87,000 MILES AND SO WE HAD TO PAY $2500. OVER 90,000 MILES AND YOU HAVE TO PAY $3000. OVER 100,000 MILES AND YOU'RE OUT OF LUCK. I WENT TO PICK UP MY OLDEST DAUGHTER FROM TRACK PRACTICE AND PLACED MY 4 YEAR OLD IN HER CAR SEAT TO START DRIVING. ALLOWING THE CAR TO WARM UP, I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND PROCEEDED UP THE HILL IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 20 MPH. TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AT THE TIME. THINKING THAT I DID NOT WARM THE CAR UP ENOUGH I PROCEEDED ON MY WAY UP HILLS AT A SNAILS PACE TO RETRIEVE MY OLDEST DAUGHTER FROM HIGH SCHOOL. ONCE I MADE IT TO THE HIGH SCHOOL I FIGURED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING SIGNIFICANTLY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND JUST WANTED TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME. I HAD TO CONTEND WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC TRYING TO CROSS A LARGE AND BUSY ROAD WITH A VEHICLE THAT ONLY ACCELERATED TO 20 MILES AN HOUR AND AT SOME TIME ACTUALLY STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. ALTHOUGH THE SCHOOL IS ONLY 2 MILES FROM HOME IT TOOK ME 30 MINUTES TO GET BACK SAFELY TO MY HOUSE BECAUSE OF THE OFF AND ON AGAIN DRIVABILITY. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC THE FOLLOWING MONDAY AND THEY INDICATED THAT MY TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE CAR IS NOT OLD AND TAKEN CARE OF----I SEARCHED FOR RECALLS AND SAW THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION AND HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO NISSAN FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS A FAILED TRANSMISSION AS A RESULT OF COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID MIXING AND THEY INDICATED THAT MY TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS MY RADIATOR---THIS IS A KNOWN QUALITY ISSUE WITH THE NISSAN PATHFINDERS. THE CAR FAILED WITHOUT WARNING PUTTING MYSELF AND MY YOUNG DAUGHTER AT RISK FOR A REAR END ACCIDENT IN THE VEHICLE. FAULTY TRANSMISSION COOLER SYSTEM - NISSAN PATHFINDER 2006 HAS FAULTY TRANSMISSION COOLING SYSTEM THAT CONNECTS TO RADIATOR. NISSAN PRODUCT/DESIGN FAILED AND CREATED CROSS CONTAMINATION OF ANTIFREEZE & TRANSMISSION FLUID. THIS FAULTY PRODUCT DESIGN POSES SERIOUS SAFETY RISKS TO MY FAMILY AND OTHERS (JUST SEARCH ON THE INTERNET & YOU'LL SEE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS/CLAIMS & CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT). THIS ISSUE CAN CAUSE SUDDEN STOPS AND ENGINE FAILURE. MY PATHFINDER STARTED RUNNING HOT AND THAT WAS FIRST INDICATION THERE WAS A PROBLEM. MECHANIC SAID TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO THE RADIATOR AND RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO TRANSMISSION. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR, THERMOSTAT & FLUSHED TRANSMISSION 4 TIMES (VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR). THIS JUST HAPPENED AND UNCERTAIN IF TRANSMISSION WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS AND REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. ON AUGUST 19TH WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I NOTICED WHAT APPEARED TO SMOKE COMING FROM MY ENGINE AND NOTICED MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE READING THAT IT WAS OVERHEATING. I PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND OBSERVED, WHAT I NOW KNOW WAS, COOLANT VAPORIZING FROM MY ENGINE. AT THIS TIME ALL THE MECHANICS I CALLED WHERE WRAPPING UP FOR THE DAY, SO I HAD IT TOWED AND TAKEN TO A LOCAL NISSAN SERVICE THE NEXT MORNING. AFTER PAYING $49.95 FOR THE INSPECTION THE SERVICE CENTER INFORMED ME THAT THE RADIATOR FAILED MIXED COOLANT IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID KILLING MY TRANSMISSION AS WELL. THEY GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $5,901, $6,373.08 AFTER TAXES, TO FIX THE DAMAGES. I REMEMBERED BEING SENT A NOTICE OF A RADIATOR RECALL, THAT I WAS TOLD DIDN'T CONCERN MY VEHICLE WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN, SO I ASKED ABOUT IT. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST NISSAN FOR THIS ISSUE AND THEY EXTENDED THE YEARS/MILEAGE ON THE WARRANTY AND I SHOULD CALL THEIR 800 NUMBER. I CALLED THE NUMBER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL DIDN'T EFFECT MY VIN# AND THAT MY MILEAGE WAS OUTSIDE OF THE EXTENSION. I WASN'T PREPARED FOR $6K IN ADDITIONAL EXPENSES SO I STARTED LOOKING AROUND FOR A MORE AFFORDABLE PRICE. I ENDED UP FINDING A SHOP THAT WAS ABLE TO DO THE WORK FOR $2,784, AND DURING THE PRICE SHOPPING AND REPAIRS I SPENT $495.72 ON A RENTAL TO GET AROUND. DURING THIS ORDEAL I BOTH ASKED THE MECHANIC WHO ASSESSED MY VEHICLE AND GOOGLE THE ISSUE ON THE INTERNET. BOTH SHOWED THAT I WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE THAT MY VIN WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE EFFECTED BY, AND THAT IT WAS A COMMON ISSUE FOR MY MODEL. BOTH SOURCES ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THE SITUATION WAS A TICKING TIME BOMB THAT NOTHING SHORT OF COOLANT SYSTEM WORK AROUND OR REPLACING NISSAN'S DEFECTIVE RADIATOR WOULD STOP IT FROM OCCURRING. *TR

I BROUGHT MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO CHECK OUT A COMPLETELY UNRELATED ISSUE WHEN I WAS MADE AWARE THAT MY CAR HAD THE PROBLEM OF A CRACKED RADIATOR THAT CONTAMINATES THE TRANSMISSION FLUID THAT COULD LEAD TO MAJOR PROBLEMS IF NOT CORRECTED. SINCE I HAVE LESS THAN 90,000 MILES, I'D HAVE TO PAY A CO-PAY OF $2500 OUT OF POCKET. EVIDENTLY THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, ALTHOUGH THERE SHOULD CERTAINLY BE ONE SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER CARS AND SHOULDN'T BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONSUMER TO PAY FOR AN ISSUE THAT IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, I NOTICED IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH CERTAIN YEARS OF NISSANS. IT WAS OUR PRIMARY VEHICLE AND I DIDN'T HAVE THE TIME TO HASSLE WITH THE NISSAN RUN-AROUND SO HAD IT REPAIRED FOR OVER $3,800. WE WILL NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN IF THIS IS HOW THEY DO BUSINESS. CAR SHUTTERS WHEN WE GET TO ABOUT 45 MPH AND YOU CAN FEEL SOME ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH, APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY NISSAN. THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT THAT SAYS THIS IS NOT A SAFETY HAZARD SO THEY MADE AN ARRANGEMENT TO COVER SOME, BUT NOT ALL, IN FULL. APPARENTLY RADIATOR FLUID IS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND RUINING THE TRANSMISSION. THE SETTLEMENT SAYS THAT AT MY MILEAGE, OVER 90,000 MILES BUT BEFORE 100,000 THEY WILL FIX THE PROBLEM FOR $3000! WOW! HOW SWEET OF THEM. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS NOT A RECALL. THERE ARE THREADS AND THREADS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM. IT EFFECTS 2005-2010 MODELS. THEY SAY IT ONLY EFFECTS A SMALL AMOUNT, THAT IS BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN THE IMPACT YET. ARE WE GOING TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE IS REALLY INJURED TO DO A RECALL. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. WE WAITED FOR TRIPLE A, WERE TOWED TO A PEPBOYS FACILITY, (THE ONLY FACILITY I COULD THINK WOULD BE OPEN ON A SATURDAY) FOR THEM TO TELL US THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST US WITH THE ISSUE OUR VEHICLE WAS HAVING. THE TOW TRUCK TOWED US TO A TRIPLE A FACILITY WHICH WAS CLOSED. WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES SHAKE AND RUMBLE WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 40-55 MPH. THE CAR HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE IN THE 2 WEEKS THAT THE PROBLEM STARTED HAPPENING. THE QUOTE I GOT TODAY TO GET THE ITEMS REPAIRED IS $6,700. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND RATHER THAN HAVING A RECALL THEY INCREASED THE WARRANTY DURATION TO 80K MILES. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE RUPTURED INSIDE OF THE RADIATOR ALLOWING COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID TO MIX AND CROSS CONTAMINATE. THEY SUGGESTED I GET A NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. THE SAME DEALERSHIP SOLD ME THE TRUCK AND A WARRANTY BY FIDELITY WARRANTY SERVICES. THE WARRANTY COMPANY THAT IS A SUBSIDIARY COMPANY OF THE DEALERSHIP OWED BY SOUTH EAST TOYOTA (SET) DENIED MY CLAIM SAYING TO ROOT OF THE PROBLEM WAS THE RADIATOR. FELT LIKE THIS IS A CONFLICT OF INTEREST SINCE SET OWNS THE WARRANTY COMPANY, WHICH WOULD BE LIKE ASKING YOUR BOSS TO PAY FOR SOMETHING. CONTACTED NISSAN AND HAVEN'T HEARD BACK. ALL NISSAN OFFERED WAS INFO ON THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WHICH DIDN'T HELP SINCE THIS FAILURE IN THEIR ENGINEERING OF THE VEHICLE DIDN'T OCCUR UNTIL AFTER 107,710 MILES WAS PUT ON MY VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 93,844 MILES ON IT, AND HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER STARTED JERKING INTO GEAR AROUND 45-55 MPH. I HAD NO IDEA OF THE TRANSMISSION/RADIATOR ISSUE AT THAT POINT. IN MID-DECEMBER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AT A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE REVVED BUT BARELY WENT FORWARD AT ALL. THANK GOD I WASN'T AT A BUSY INTERSECTION, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT!! THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE RPM SHOT UP. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE VERY SLOWLY INTO A DRIVEWAY AND THERE IT SAT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS UNTIL WE COULD BRING IT HOME. IT HAS BEEN PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR A MONTH AND A HALF B/C I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IS DEFINITELY CONTAMINATED. A FEW WEEKS AGO I RECEIVED A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT CLAIM FORM REGARDING THIS ISSUE, HOWEVER, MY LOVELY VEHICLE HAS 119,081 MILES ON IT...THEREFORE, I AM OVER THE MILEAGE AND OUT OF LUCK! 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER 103K MILES. WE NOTICED VEHICLE WOULD SHUDDER UPON ACCELERATION AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND AGAIN AT 50 MPH. WE TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SINCE WE HAD RECENTLY A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH OUR LOCAL NISSAN DEALER IN FIXING ANOTHER PROBLEM (TIMING CHAIN). THE MECHANIC DROPPED THE TRANSMISSION PAN AND FOUND THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. MECHANIC STATED WE WERE VERY LUCKY TO HAVE CAUGHT THIS RIGHT AWAY AS IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A LOT OF OTHER PROBLEMS TOO LENGTHY TO MENTION HERE. AFTER MULTIPLE SEARCHES, WE DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF ENTRIES OF PATHFINDER OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. EVENTUALLY, THE CAR STARTED TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO NISSAN IN MY TOWN AND CONTACTED CORPORATE. I WILL BE FILING A CIVIL SUIT IF THEY DO NOT AGREE TO PAY AND FIX MY CAR THAT I HAVE HAD FOR ONLY 3 YEARS. *TR
