Ref. No. 11452064 dated May 12. 2023 After contacting the servicing dealership, a reply was received acknowledging coolant and transmission fluid cross-contamination was discovered. Along with the other complaints already received, I hope this is enough to proof to finally substantiate just remedies to all who purchased a defective product.
The vehicle jolted without warning And would not move. The transmission cooling lines ruptured in the radiator causing a complete Destruction,pink fluid oozed out of the Radiator. This was due to a Nissan defect that Was NEVER informed us of this problem that could have caused our deaths and the safety of others on the roads.

I HAD JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE OFF OF EBAY FROM INDIVIDUALS IN NEW BRAUNFELS , TEXAS DROVE IT BACK TO AMARILLO , TEXAS. I WENT TO DROP A LOAD OF ITEMS OFF AT AMARILLO'S GIVING CLOSET FOR PEOPLE IN NEED. IT RAN PERFECT ON THE WAY OVER THERE. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF WHILE I WAS UNLOADING EVERYTHING. WHEN I WENT TO START MY VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START ALTHOUGH THE LIGHTS AND THINGS WOULD COME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO A SHOP AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS BEING CAUSED BY THE VEHICLE CONTROL. NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS MESSED UP ACTS IF THERE IS NO 1ST OR 2ND GEAR TAKING OFF IN 3RD GEAR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. SINCE THEN MY HUSBAND WAS PINNED UNDER A SEMINAR TRAILER HE WAS WORKING ON AND LOST HIS LEG. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP ME. I WAS JUST INFORMED OF A PROBLEM WITH NISSAN AND THIS.
I WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I DROVE HOME AND THE NEXT WEEK I WENT TO REPLACE MY BRAKES AND ASK THE WORKSHOP TO DO A SCAN TO LET ME KNOW WHY THE LIGHT IS ON, THEY DID AND 2 CODES CAME UP WHICH THE SHOP SAID THEY DID NOT SEE BEFORE SO THEY CLEARED THE SYSTEM AND SAID IF IT COMES ON AGAIN TO TAKE IT BACK SO THEY CAN FULLY INVESTIGATE. I WENT ON 9/28 TO ANOTHER WORKSHOP THEY DID A SCAN AND THE CODE P1772 CAME ON AFTER INSPECTING THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME THE RADIATOR CAP WITH SOME THICK GOOEY STUFF TELLING ME THE RADIATOR IS BAD AND THE COOLANT IS MIXING WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND VICE VERSA. BEFORE THIS THE CAR WOULD RUN AND WHEN I AT A STOP SIGN AND TRY TO MOVE IT WOULD REV TO 4-5 STALLS AND THEN MOVE, THEY ARE ALSO TIMES OF SUDDEN JERK AND ACCELERATION. THEY HAVE ALSO BEEN TWICE WHEN I TRIED TO REVERSE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE, I HAD TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE THEN RESTART BEFORE I COULD REVERSE.. DEFECTIVE RADIATOR CRACKS LEADING TO COOLANT MIXING WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID, NOW NEED TO REPLACE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION

2007 PATHFINDER WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A CITY STREET AND STALLED WHILE IN MOTION. WAS ABLE TO STEER AWAY FROM TRAFFIC. STEERING WAS HARD TO MANEUVER. AFTER REPEATED TIMES OF CRANKING IT WOULD NOT START.. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO OWNERS RESIDENCE. WHEN BEING DROPPED OFF OWNER STARTED VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE IT INTO DRIVEWAY. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OF ANY SORT WAS LIT. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AROUND THE BLOCK AND STALLED AGAIN. WAITED FOR ABOUT 25 MINUTES TO COOL OFF AND ENGINE TURNED ON AGAIN BUT STALLED . AFTER A COUPLE OF REPEATED TRYS WAS ABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE BACK INTO DRIVEWAY. AGAIN NO CODES LIT.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND WHEN I PULLED OVER THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SMOKE AND SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO MY HOUSE. I HAD A FAMILY MECHANIC LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THE RADIATOR CRACKED. I ORDERED A RADIATOR AND IT WAS PUT IT. THEN FOUND OUT THAT WATER HAD GOTTEN INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. WENT AND BOUGHT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID J SPECIFICALLY FOR NISSAN AND WAS GOING TO FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND ADD MORE IT WAS THEN THAT THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST. WHERE I WAS TOLD THE HEAD GASKET IS CRACKED. I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS CAR AND HAVE NO VEHICLE TO DRIVE TO WORK OR SCHOOL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HERITAGE NISSAN (1500 VETERANS MEMORIAL HWY NE, ROME, GA 30161) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE COOLANT AND RADIATOR THAT LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE NOT TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A CALL BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,859. *TT *TR

THE VEHICLE STARTED VIBRATING VERY ROUGHLY AND LOUDLY DURING ACCELERATION, THEN SUDDENLY THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IT ON A VERY BUSY FRONTAGE ROAD TO THE HIGHWAY. SHE WAS ABLE TO STEER IT ONTO THE SHOULDER BEFORE IT STOPPED COASTING; AND SEVERAL PEOPLE STOPPED TO HELP HER PUSH IT INTO SAFETY IN A NEARBY PARKING LOT. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP, THE MECHANIC INFORMED US THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID HAD LEAKED THROUGH CRACKS INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, CAUSING IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. UPON RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, WE DISCOVERED THIS WAS A KNOWN AND ACKNOWEDGED PROBLEM WITH 2005-2010 NISSAN PATHFINDERS, BUT NEITHER A RECALL NOR A WARNING WAS EVER ISSUED. WE ARE NOW BEYOND THE WARRANTY COVERAGE IN TIME AND IN MILEAGE, SO NISSAN WILL NOT COVER ANY OF THE EXPENSES TO REPAIR.

IN 2007, I PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN PATHFINDER, UNAWARE OF ANY DEFECTS. IN 2011, I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY TRUCK NOT PRODUCING HEAT WHILE IT WAS IDLE. NISSAN STATED THAT THE COOLANT LOOKED DARK AND ADVISED ME THAT THEIR WAS AIR IN THE LINE. ONCE AGAIN, I'M HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE HEAT AND NOW I'M BEING TOLD THE TRANSMISSION AND COOLANT FLUIDS ARE INTERMIXED, AND THAT IT WOULD COST BETWEEN $7 AND 8 THOUSAND DOLLARS BECAUSE I NEED TO REPLACE BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR. WHEN I TOOK MY TRUCK TO NISSAN IN 2011, AND THEY KNEW THE COOLANT WAS DARK, I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT WITH THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY BECAUSE MY ISSUES MOST LIKELY HAD ALREADY STARTED, AND NOW, IT'S GOTTEN WORSE. I WAS NEVER ADVISED OF THIS PROBLEM UNTIL NOW.
I BOUGHT MY 07 PATHFINDER IN JULY AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD DONE REPAIR ON THE RADIATOR AT THEIR EXPENSE, AND REPLACED THE COOLANT AND TRANNY FLUIDS AND STATED THERE WAS NO CROSS CONTAMINATION. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STOPPED SHIFTING PROPERLY AND WE COULDN'T TELL IF IT WAS THE TRANNY, ABS, OR 4WD GETTING CAUGHT. AS OF YESTERDAY THE TRANNY WOULDN'T CHANGE GEARS. RESTARTING THE CAR HELPED. BUT SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL THERE IS NO HISTORY OF ANY OTHER WORK. ALL MAINTENANCE WAS KEPT UP WITH THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE VEHICLES LIFE. AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT A STOP, AND MOVED TO ACCELERATE IT WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR/DRIVE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WOULD ?CATCH? AND WOULD LAUNCH.

THE VEHICLE IS BEYOND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT NISSAN GAVE AND THEY NEVER CONTACTED ME TO LET ME KNOW THAT THERE EVEN WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY.

I HAD NOTICED FLUID LEAKING FROM UNDER THE FRONT /RIGHT PORTION OF MY VEHICLE AFTER I PARKED. I OPENED THE HOOD AND THE RESERVE CAP TO THE RADIATOR HAD COME LOOSE. AFTER LETTING MY VEHICLE COOL, I INSPECTED BOTH THE RESERVE TANK AND RADIATOR AND NOTICED THE FLUID WAS NOW A MILKY/FROTHY SUBSTANCE. AFTER SOME DETECTIVE WORK, I LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH PATHFINDERS FROM 2005- THROUGH 2010 THAT NISSAN HAS IGNORED TO FIX. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID COOLER IN THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY "FAILS" CAUSING CONTAMINATION TO THE INTERNAL TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS ,AND DAMAGE TO THE INTERNAL TRANSMISSION COMPUTER. THERE ARE NO WARNING SIGNS UP TO OR JUST PRIOR TO THE FAILURES. AFTER CONTACTING NISSAN AND RECEIVING A DENIAL TO FIX OUR TRUCK UNDER A WARRANTY, I AM STUCK WITH A VEHICLE WITH SEVERAL "THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS" IN REPAIRS ALL DUE TO NISSAN IGNORING A KNOWN DEFECT AND NOT ISSUING A RECALL ON ALL VEHICLES IN THE "KNOWN" YEAR BRACKET WITH THESE ISSUES. I'M SURE NOTHING WILL BE DONE REGARDING THIS ISSUE DUE TO THERE NOT BEING A MAJOR LOSS OF LIVES INVOLVED, I.E. TAKATA AIRBAGS,BUT I FIND IT IS MY DUTY TO ADD MY NAME TO AN ALREADY HEFTY LIST OF OTHER NISSAN PATHFINDER OWNERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM.

ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT NISSAN WAS AWARE OF AND WOULD NOT PAY FOR A REPAIR FOR OVER $6000 BECAUSE THEY HAD NO RECALL

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS ENGINE SLUDGE. THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR FAILED DUE TO THE EXTERNAL COOLER FAILURE. THE RADIATOR, TRANSMISSION, AND EXTERNAL COOLER ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 134,000.

MY PATHFINDER TAKING ANTIFREEZE INSIDE OF TRANSMISSION FLUID TURNING IT TO LOOK LIKE PEPTO BISMOL ALSO MY ENGINE IS TAKING IN ANTI FREEZE ALSO. THERE ARE RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES NOTE MY TRUCK STILL RUN BUT IT OVER HEATS TRANNY WORKS TOO I'VE PARKED IT FOR COUPLE YEARS NOW I HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT TO THE POINT WHERE IT DON'T WORK.

I AM STILL IN THE PROCESS OF FLUSHING RADIATOR AND GETTING QUOTES. LOCAL AAMCO GUY SAID THAT TRANSMISSION IS DOOMED, AND THEY SEE A LOT OF THESE. $4,000 - 4500 TO REBUILD. SO MUCH MONEY FOR SUCH AN EASY REPAIR HAD I KNOWN BEFORE THE RADIATOR GAVE UP. NO MORE NISSANS FOR THIS FAMILY!

"TAKATA RECALL" OUT OF THE CLEAR BLUE I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 PATHFINDER AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY THAT DAY AND IT PASSED PER SERVICE MANAGER LOUIS CASTILLO AT BAKER JACKSON NISSAN IN HOUSTON TEXAS, 2 DAYS LATER THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND ONCE AGAIN I WENT TO THE DEALER SHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SENSORS AND OTHER PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED THE COST IS $1500. I CALLED NISSAN CORP AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO TAKING RESPONSIBILITY EVEN THOUGH THEY STATED ALL 2007 PATHFINDERS IN OTHER STATES WOULD BE GIVEN A 10 YEAR WARRANTY. MY TRUCK WAS ALSO AFFECTED WITH THE RADIATOR FLULID MIXING WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, DURING THE YEARS OF 2010-2012 I CONSTANTLY TOOK MY TRUCK TO BAKER JACKSON NISSAN AND THE SERVICE MANAGER THEN LARRY JUST TOPPED OFF MY TRUCK HIMSELF AND NEVER MADE A RECORD OF IT. HE KEPT ASSURING ME THAT HE WAS SAVING ME MONEY. MY TRANSMISSION FAILED BUT BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE IN 2012 NISSAN WAS ABLE TO DENY FIXING MY TRANSMISSION VIA THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I ENDED UP SPENDING $4800 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. IN 2010 NISSAN CONVINCED ME TO REPLACE MY TRAIN FOR $1600, I NEVER KNEW IT WAS A RECALL UNTIL TODAY. ANOTHER CAVEAT TO THIS MESS IS THAT BAKER JACKSON CHANGED THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEM AND HAS NO RECORD OF ME REPLACING MY TRAIN. I HAVE A BANK STATEMENT TO PROVE IT IF NECESSARY.

THE TOTAL REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS WOULD COST ME $8000 AS I WOULD ALSO NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. WE REPLACED THE RADIATOR BUT OF COURSE THAT IS ONLY HALF THE PROBLEM. I STILL OWE ABOUT $13K ON THE VEHICLE, HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR 8 MONTHS AND AM NOW STUCK BECAUSE I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND I CANT GET RID OF THE TRUCK KNOWING THIS PROBLEM.

AFTER FLUID CHANGES AND RADIATOR FLUSHES, THE 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER NOW HAS 111,000 MILES ON IT. THE AIR CONDITIONING IS WORKING THIS SUMMER, BUT TOWARDS THE END OF MAY 2015, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED "JUMPING". THIS USUALLY OCCURS AROUND 40-45 MPH. THE ENGINE WILL REV AT A HIGH RPM WHILE TRAVELING DOWN AN INCLINE OR A HILL. I PULLED OVER TO CALL MY HUSBAND AND WHEN WE PUT IT IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE, IT WOULDN'T GO INTO REVERSE. I HAD TO TOW IT HOME AND IT'S COMPLETELY BROKEN DOWN. THE ARBITRATION GUY CALLED AND TOLD ME MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT NISSAN HAS KNOWN OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2005. NISSAN LOST A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THE REMEDY WAS TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR 100,000 MILES. I'M CONFUSED BECAUSE I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A MANUFACTURER CAN WARRANTY AWAY A DEFECT. ADVISE REPLACE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION, RADIATOR, AND FLUSH ENGINE BLOCK AS WELL AS REPLACE THERMOSTAT, (PRICE TO FIX: $5938.00 + 9% TAX)". I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON DEFECT ISSUE THAT NISSAN HAS BEEN DANCING AROUND SINCE 2007, AS WELL AS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BEING FILED AGAINST NISSAN. I BOUGHT THE CAR ON JULY 28, 2011, SO I HAVE ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS IN WHICH THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM DID NOT INFORM US OF THIS WARRANTY BEING OFFERED BY NISSAN FROM THE LAWSUIT OR INFORMED US OF THE POSSIBLE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I HAD THE CAR COMPLETELY CHECKED OUT BY A MECHANIC IN NOVEMBER OF 2013 AND IT PASSED WITH NO ISSUES. NOW HERE WE ARE 2 MONTHS LATER, AND OVER 100,000 MILES AND MY NISSAN EXPERIENCES THIS ISSUE. THEN LAST WEEK, OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND, MY CAR OVERHEATED AND IMMEDIATELY DISCHARGED A GREY MILKY SUBSTANCE FROM THE RADIATOR WITHOUT WARNING. IT HAD NOT OVERHEATED PRIOR TO THIS. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED ME THAT BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR NEED REPLACING TO THE TUNE OF $6,600. THE CAUSE BEING THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS REPAIR IS OVER HALF THE VALUE OF THE CAR. I NEVER WOULD HAVE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THE DEFECT. AT A MINIMUM I WOULD HAVE INSISTED IT BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. I PAID FULL RETAIL PRICE FOR THE CAR NOT KNOWING OF THIS DEFECT. NEVER WAS THERE A MENTION OF ISSUES WITH THE RADIATOR / TRANSMISSION, NOR WAS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THESE ELEMENTS REPLACED TO PREVENT AN ISSUE (TO MY KNOWLEDGE.) AT 101K MILES, THE HEAT WENT OUT IN THE REAR SECTION OF THE CAR (I DID NOT REALIZE THIS UNTIL TWO MONTHS HAD GONE BY AND I WAS ARGUING WITH MY FREEZING CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT THAT I HAD HIS HEAT AS HOT AS IT WOULD GO - HE WAS CLEARLY CORRECT AND THE REAR BLOWERS WERE BLASTING HIM WITH ICY AIR.) THERE WAS A "CLUNK" UPON SHIFTING THE CAR INTO REVERSE, AND BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MPH THE TRANSMISSION LAGGED AND SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GRINDING AND WORKING HARD. AT 106K I BROUGHT THE PATHFINDER TO THE NISSAN DEALER WHERE I HAD ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE CAR. THIS WAS THE SAME DEALER WHO HAD DONE THE 90K SERVICE, AS WELL. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID HAD MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND THAT MY CAR NEEDED BOTH A NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FOR $9,000.00. (MY TRUCK IS MAYBE WORTH $15,000 AT THIS POINT - REALLY?) AFTER DELIBERATING WITH THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR, HE OFFERED AN ALTERNATE OPTION OF ONLY CHANGING THE RADIATOR AND FLUSHING THE TRANSMISSION SEVERAL TIMES TO ELIMINATE THE CONTAMINATED FLUID. I GAVE THE OK FOR THIS SERVICE OPTION AT $600. SINCE THE SERVICE, MY TRANSMISSION IS STILL LAGGING BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MPH AND THE "CLUNK" STILL HAPPENS DURING A SLOW REVERSE. I AM NOW INVESTIGATING MY OPTIONS FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION AS THE VEHICLE IS STILL IN BEAUTIFUL SHAPE, OTHER THAN ITS ENGINE ISSUES. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE RADIATOR, TRANSMISSION, TRANSMISSION KIT, THROTTLE, VIAL BODY, AND TORQUE CONVERTER WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I FEEL PETRIFIED TO KNOW THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS EXISTING PROBLEM BUT REFUSED TO HAVE THESE ISSUES REPAIRED RATHER THAN TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT AND EXTENDING THE WARRANTY. WE BOUGHT OUR TRUCK BRAND NEW FROM THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WE ALSO PAID FOR THE 5YR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK FOR 5 YRS AND 2 MTHS, SOMETHING SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS. WE THE CONSUMERS HAVE TRUSTED THIS BRAND FOR MANY YEARS AND WE DEPEND ON OUR VEHICLES ON A DAILY BASES. MY FAMILY AND I WERE ALL IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HARMED IN A HIGH RISK SITUATION. WE HAD THE 90,000 MILEAGE MAINTENANCE COMPLETED WHERE THEY FLUSHED THE RADIATOR, CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION, & ETC. AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. NOW BACK TO MILKY TRANSMISSION FLUID, HAVE TO TAKE OVERDRIVE OFF BECAUSE GEARS WILL NOT SHIFT, I ALSO CARRY GALLON OF WATER BECAUSE AT ANY TIME RADIATOR FLUID LEVELS CAN BE LOW; HAVE TO TURN AIR OFF AT LONG STOP LIGHTS SO TEMP GAUGE DOESN'T GO UP. *TR
MY PATHFINDER RECENTLY STARTED GRINDING INTO 4TH GEAR AROUND 40 MPH AND IS NOW LURCHING FORWARD (AS IF HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME ENGAGING IN 1ST GEAR) AFTER BEIN STOPPED. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, MY ISSUE EXACTLY FITS THE DESCRIPTION OF SCORES OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS FROM PATHFINDER OWNERS OF 2005-07 MODELS WHO HAVE COME TO FIND OUT THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURERS' DEFECT OF A COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I CALLED THE NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO INQUIRE ABOUT THESE COMPLAINTS AND REGISTER MY OWN, I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTICS TEST I ORDER TO REGISTER THE COMPLAINT FURTHER. I WAS TRANSFERRED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THE RESEARCH: IF MY TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS MILKY REDDISH IN COLOR (WHICH IT IS), THEN RADIATOR FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO TO TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS LIKELY ( FROM THIS SERVICE REP'S EXPERIENCE) THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $3500-$8000. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT THE PREVALENCE OF THIS PROBLEM AT HIS DEALERSHIP, HE WAS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND ISSUE BUT BECAUSE OF THE PERCENTAGE OF CARS AFFECTED THAT IS KNOWN IS SMALL IN COMPARISON TO THE NUMBER SOLD IN THOSE YEARS, A RECALL WAS UNLIKELY. HE ALSO INDICATED THAT THE MILEAGE ON MY VEHICLE (107000) MADE IT EVEN MORE UNLIKELY THAT NISSAN WOULD COVER THE REPAIRS. *JS

THE FAULTY SEAL THAT SEPARATES THE ANTI-FREEZE AND TRANSMISSION FLUID MIXED AND RESULTED IN THE TRANSMISSION FAILING. THIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS ADMITTING TO BUT ONLY GIVING PARTIAL REMEDY AS IT MAY NOT HAPPEN BEFORE 80,000 MILES. I FIND MYSELF ALONG WITH MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO ARE FOOTING THE BILL FOR THE 8600 DOLLAR REPAIR IN TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES. WHEN BUYING A NEW VEHICLE IT SHOULD LAST LONG ENOUGH TO FINISH PAYING THE CAR NOTE WITHOUT ANY MAJOR EXPENSES. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY AS A RECALL SO THE CONSUMER CAN BE REIMBURSED FOR TERRIBLE ENGINEERING THAT ANY MECHANIC WILL TELL YOU. EVEN THE NISSAN DEALERS KNOW IS A PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT TAKE OWNERSHIP. IS THERE ANY ASSISTANCE AS A CONSUMER? *JS

HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT IS NOT ACCEPTING ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR NOT INFORMING US OF THE PROBLEM THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT MONTHS AGO. *TR

CAR STARTED SHIFTING VERY ROUGH AND STALLED IN TRAFFIC. VERY DANGEROUS! FOUND OUT FROM NISSAN SERVICE CENTER THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE RADIATOR THAT CAUSES THE COOLANT TO MIX INTO THE TRANSMISSION. BOTH THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEED TO BE REPLACED. NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON BOTH PARTS TO 80,000 MILES (APPARENTLY NISSAN KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM). UNFORTUNATELY, IT AFFECTED MY CAR AT 88,000 MILES. NOW, NISSAN IS REALLY GIVING ME THE RUN-AROUND. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE NISSAN SERVICE CENTER FOR 2 DAYS. THEY INFORMED ME TODAY (MAY 11, 2012) THEY WOULD MAKE A DETERMINATION BY MAY 16TH IF THEY WILL "HELP PAY" FOR THE FIX. THE DEFECTIVE RADIATOR SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED! I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS FIX. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED DUE TO THIS DEFECT!!!! *TR
