The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact noticed that there was unknown fluid leaking underneath the vehicle onto the ground. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact checked the radiator and noticed that the coolant was leaking from the radiator. An independent mechanic was contacted and stated that it sounded as if the transmission might have cracked; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer was not contacted. WE PURCHASED OUR 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER ON MAY 21 OF THIS YEAR. TODAY MAKES 39 DAYS WE'VE HAD IT. ON THE 32 DAY WE NOTICED IT WAS HAVING SOME ROUGHNESS IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN CHANGING GEARS. IT FELT LIKE WE WERE RUNNING OVER REALLY ROUGH ROADS OR RUMBLE STRIPS. IT CONTINUED TO GET WORSE THE LONGER WE DROVE IT. THEN AROUND A WEEK AGO I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE HOME TO INFORM MY HUSBAND. WHEN HE CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IT APPEARED TO BE EMPTY. WHEN HE FURTHER CHECKED IT AND CLEANED THE DIP STICK IT WAS A TANISH COLORED LIQUID THAT WAS SHOWING UP. I WENT TO GOOGLE AND FOUND THAT MANY OTHERS WITH THIS SAME OR SIMILAR VEHICLE WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A LEAK IN A RADIATOR HOSE THAT RUNS THRU THE TRANSMISSION AND LEAKS FLUIDS BACK AND FORTH. MY HUSBAND WENT TO CHECK THE RADIATOR AND SURE ENOUGH THERE IS TRANSMISSION FLUID IN THE RADIATOR AND IT APPEARED IN THE ENGINE AS WELL. SO NOW WE HAVE TRANSMISSION FLUID, WATER, AND ANTIFREEZE IN OUR TRANSMISSION, RADIATOR AND ENGINE. NISSAN NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM. ITS CLEAR THAT THIS IS A FLAW IN THEIR WORKMANSHIP. WE WERE TOLD BY NISSAN TO BRING OUR PATHFINDER IN FOR AN EVALUATION AND BE PREPARED TO PAY 2,500.00 DOLLARS. AS I PUSHED ON THE GAS IT DID NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE AN MORE, ALL THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND WE PRETTY MUCH STROLLED INTO THE NEAREST GAS STATION. I NOTICED MY 2007 PATHFINDER'S HEATER WOULD ONLY WORK WHEN THE CAR WAS MOVING BUT, FIGURED IT WAS SOMETHING INSIGNIFICANT AND WOULD GET IT FIXED SOON. I THEN STARTED TO NOTICE MY TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND STALLING OUT AROUND 40 MPH. I DECIDED I BETTER GET IT INTO THE SHOP BEFORE I WAS STRANDED SOMEWHERE. BEFORE TAKING MY CAR INTO THE SHOP, I FIGURED I'D CHECK THE INTERNET AND MAKE SURE THERE WEREN'T ANY RECALLS ON THE HEATING SYSTEM. I TYPED IN "2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER" ON GOOGLE AND IT AUTO-FILLED "TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS" - NOT A GOOD SIGN. APPARENTLY, NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THE FAULTY RADIATORS IN THESE VEHICLES WHICH LEAK ANTIFREEZE IN TO THE TRANSMISSION AND DESTROY THE DRIVE TRAIN, YET DID NOTHING ABOUT IT.. POST AFTER POST DESCRIBED THE EXACT SAME ISSUES I WAS HAVING WITH MY CAR - PEOPLE WERE DESCRIBING HOW THEIR CARS WERE GETTING STUCK IN HIGH OR LOW GEARS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND IT SCARED ME TO DEATH! I IMMEDIATELY CALLED TWO LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIPS AND GAVE THEM MY VIN AND MILEAGE. I WAS INFORMED, DUE TO SOME WORTHLESS SETTLEMENT WITH NISSAN, MY PORTION OF THE COST WOULD BE $3,000. HERE IS WHAT MOST INFURIATES ME ABOUT THIS SITUATION: 1. NISSAN WAS OBVIOUSLY AWARE OF THIS ISSUE MANY YEARS AGO SO WHY DIDN'T THEY RECALL THE RADIATOR AND SAVE US THIS TROUBLE AND EXPENSE? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE? I'M SURE IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME WITH VEHICLES GETTING STUCK IN HIGH GEAR OR STALLING OUT ON THE INTERSTATE! 2. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND HAD TO ACCELERATE AGAIN VERY SLOWLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR WAS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS CROSS CONTAMINATION WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING INTO THE RADIATOR AND COOLANT ENTERING THE TRANSMISSION. AS A RESULT, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. FOUND OUT ON LINE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT NISSAN REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE AS A DEFECT. BEHOLD, DISCOVERED IT WAS MOST LIKELY A RADIATOR LEAK AND MOST LIKELY LEAKED INTO TRANSMISSION AS WELL. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TODAY, AND MY CONCERNS WERE CONFIRMED. RADIATOR REPLACEMENT = $800. TRANSMISSION IS WORKING NORMALLY RIGHT NOW, BUT FROM WHAT I CAN TELL THE DAMAGE MAY ALREADY BE DONE AND ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE +$4000. THE ISSUE I HAVE WITH THIS WHOLE SITUATION IS NISSAN IS VERY AWARE OF THIS DEFECT, YET DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL. ALL THEY DID WAS EXTEND RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION WARRANTY. I PURCHASED A USED 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR MY DAUGHTER ON 12/28/13. LAST WEEK THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. SHE MADE AN APPOINTMENT, ARRIVED EARLY AND 5 HOURS LATER WAS TOLD THAT A SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND SUGGESTED THAT SHE TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER AS THEY HAD EQUIPMENT SPECIFIC TO NISSAN VEHICLES AND HER WARRANTY COVERS THE WORK AT ANY DEALERSHIP. SHE ASKED IF THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS TOLD YES. SHE DROVE TWO MILES TO A NISSAN DEALER SPENT ANOTHER 2 HOURS THERE WHILE THEY RAN THEIR OWN DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. THEY DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS CROSS CONTAMINATION IN THE RADIATOR. NOT ONLY DID HER RADIATOR NEED TO BE REPLACED BUT SO DID HER TRANSMISSION. SHE WAS FURTHER TOLD THAT HER VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE CALLED THE WARRANTY COMPANY WHO INDICATED THAT THE RADIATOR WASN'T COVERED AND THEREFORE THE TRANSMISSION WASN'T COVERED AS IT WAS CAUSED BY THE RADIATOR. MY DAUGHTER DROVE BACK TO AUTO NATION AGAIN AND ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE GENERAL MANAGER. SHE WAS TOLD HE WASN'T IN AND THE USED CAR SALES MANAGER WOULD SPEAK TO HER. I LEFT WORK AND WENT OVER TO HELP HER. I ALSO ASKED FOR THE GENERAL MANAGER, WAS ASKED WHAT IT WAS ABOUT, I SAID I WOULD PREFER SPEAKING DIRECTLY TO THE GM AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING AS MY DAUGHTER. THE USED CAR SALES MANAGER RELUCTANTLY AGREED TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION TWICE HE INDICATED THAT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. MY 2007 NISSAN PATH FINDER WAS RECENTLY WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A COMPLETE FAILURE TO THE TRANSMISSION DUE TO A FAILURE OF THE "RADIATOR ASSEMBLY" THAT FAILED AND ALLOWED WATER TO GET INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION CONTAINMENT AND THIS CAUSED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE TO THE TRANSMISSION. REQUIRING NOW THAT THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE ONLY WARNING I GOT WAS THE FAILURE WARNING LIGHT FROM MY CAR, AND AT THAT POINT ITS ALREADY DAMAGED. LOOKING FOR AN EXPLANATION I TURNED TO NISSAN AND I LEARNED THAT THIS IS RECOGNIZED BY NISSAN DEFECT AND THOUGHT MY VEHICLE HASN'T BEEN COMPLETELY ABANDON BY NISSAN CORP. I STILL HAVE TO CONTRIBUTE $2.5K TOWARDS REPAIRS FOR A KNOWN FAILING DESIGN, THAT FIXING IT COULD HAVE PREVENT THE MUCH MORE COSTLY RESULT OF LEAVING IT AS IS. WHAT HAPPENED TO NISSAN STANDING BY THEIR PRODUCT AND MAKING GOOD ON POOR DESIGN? EVEN WHAT'S MORE IS THAT I WAS MAILED A LETTER REGARDING A CLASS ACTION REIMBURSEMENT IN LEGAL LINGO THAT I DIDN'T FULLY UNDERSTAND AND FELT IT DIDN'T APPLY TO ME SINCE ID HAVE NO EXPENSES. YET IT NOW MAKES SENSE AS TO WHAT ITS PURPOSE WAS.. IT WAS TO MONETARY REIMBURSE THOSE WITH NISSAN'S AT MY SIMILAR AGE AND MILEAGE FOR REPAIR THEY PERFORMED DUE TO ADMITTING IT WAS A FAULTY DESIGN. DIAGNOSIS: COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE RADIATOR RUINING BOTH. $5,000+ TO FIX.FOUND THERE ARE OVER 110,000 NISSAN PATHFINDERS WITH EXACT PROBLEM, NISSAN IS/HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS, BUT SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL THEY DON'T HAVE TO INFORM OWNERS. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. BECAUSE OF THIS, WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 100,000 MI. BUT, THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT AROUND OR AFTER 100,000, IT IS TOO LATE. WHILE DRIVING IN THE ABOVE RANGE, THE VEHICLE SOUNDS JUST LIKE DRIVING OVER A RUMBLE STRIP ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVEN'T EVEN TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP YET, AND I ALREADY KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS CAR HAS BEEN BABIED FOR YEARS BEING THAT IT IS THE SOLE AUTOMOBILE THAT MY WIFE AND KIDS DRIVE IN. I'LL BE [XXX] IF I'M GOING TO PAY A $3000 DEDUCTIBLE FOR A DEFECT THAT NISSAN HAS HAD FULL KNOWLEDGE OF FOR YEARS NOW! TO[XXX] WITH THE SETTLEMENT THAT LEFT MOST OF US OUT IN THE COLD WHILE PADDING THE POCKETS OF THE ATTORNEYS! IT IS TIME FOR THE NHTSA TO STEP UP AND MAKE THE ONLY RIGHT AND SAFE DECISION THAT NISSAN REFUSES TO MAKE! THESE CARS ARE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE ON THE ROAD IN THIS CONDITION! I TOOK MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE BRAKES WORKED ON AND WHILE THERE THEY PERFORMED A MULTI POINT VEHICLE INSPECTION. FROM THIS INSPECTION THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS CROSS CONTAMINATION OF THE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID DUE TO A FAILED TRANSMISSION COOLER. THEY INDICATED THAT DAMAGE HAD ALREADY STARTED AND IT WOULD ONLY BE A SHORT TIME BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED COMPLETELY SO I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THERE WOULD BE A $3,000 DEDUCTIBLE COST. IN TALKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE PERSONNEL AND RESEARCHING ONLINE IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FAILURE WHICH COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE TRANSMISSION FAILS WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. MY FAMILY AND I ARE THANKFUL THAT JUST BY CHANCE THE BRAKES NEEDED WORK OTHERWISE MY WIFE AND KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND BEEN AT RISK OF POTENTIAL INJURY IF THE TRANSMISSION FAILED UNEXPECTEDLY AS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OTHER NISSAN PATHFINDER VEHICLE OWNERS. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING MY 8TH GRADE SON AND HIS BASKETBALL TEAM TO MIDDLE SCHOOL GAME. SHE WAS ON THE FREEWAY GOING 65 MPH, WHEN SHE FELT THE CAR JERK AND THEN START TO LOSE SPEED, THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE CAR HAD SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. SHE HAD NO POWER AND LUCKILY SHE HAD ROOM TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO RADIATOR FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION. WE REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND COOLANT LINES AND FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION, AND IT RAN FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS. BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON LAST MONTH, WE TOOK IT IN AND NOW THEY TELL US THAT WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE WITH THE NISSAN PATHFINDER, FRONTIER AND XTERRA. IT SEEMS TO BE MORE AND MORE OF A COMMON ISSUE WITH NISSAN OWNERS AND NISSAN IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO REPAIR THIS VERY SERIOUS AND COSTLY PROBLEM. WIFE FIRST NOTICED A VIBRATION ON HER WAY HOME FROM SCHOOL WITH OUR DAUGHTERS. BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME. I HAD TIRES, BEARINGS, ETC CHECKED. NO PROBLEMS FOUND WITH ANY OF THOSE. LOOKED ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THAT A LOT OF PATHFINDER OWNERS WERE HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. CHECKED COOLANT AND FOUND THAT IT HAD IN FACT MIXED WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID. I SWITCHED THE LINES FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO TRANS COOLER AND RADIATOR TO PREVENT FURTHER CONTAMINATION, AND FLUSHED RADIATOR/REPLACED COOLANT. ALSO HAD TRANSMISSION FLUSHED/FLUID CHANGED. I BROUGHT THIS TO A NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE THIS DIAGNOSED AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED THAT MY INITIAL WORRIES WERE CORRECT. A DEFECT DURING MANUFACTURING OF THIS VEHICLE HAS CAUSED RADIATOR COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION OR VICE-VERSA CAUSING THE DETERIORATION OF BOTH SYSTEMS. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER IT WAS RUNNING AT 40MPH AND WOULD NOT LET ME ACCELERATE AND MAKING CRAZY GRINDING NOISES AS THOUGH I WERE RIDING ON THE ROAD SHOULDER. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT IT WASN'T A PROBLEM WITH MY TRANSMISSION BUT MY RADIATOR LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH AS A RESULT RUINED THE TRANSMISSION. HAVING DONE RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE I HAVE READ THAT IT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS AND THAT NISSAN CORPORATE IS WELL AWARE OF AND REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS A GREAT BIG SAFETY ISSUE IMPOSED ON MY FAMILY AND I AM TERRIFIED TO EVEN DRIVE. I AM UPSIDE DOWN ON MY VEHICLE AND CANNOT TRADE IT IN ON A NEW VEHICLE AND AM LEFT WITH MY HANDS TIED. AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER (120,000 ,MILES) THROUGH A BUSY INTERSECTION, I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AT ALL. AFTER A VERY FRIGHTENING COUPLE OF MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE THROUGH AND COAST DOWN A SMALL INCLINE TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. AFTER THREEDAYS OUR LOCAL MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO FIX THE CAR, AS HE CONCLUDED THAT THE ECM HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP, WHO AGREED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE ECM ($1014 REPAIR). AFTER THREE MORE DAYS, THEY'VE NOW TOLD US THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE ECM, BUT THE FACT THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID HAS LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION, DESTROYING IT. THEY ARE QUOTING A REPAIR COST OF $7500. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR OVER A WEEK (RENTING A CAR BECAME COST PROHIBITIVE), AND NOW WILL SPEND THE MORNING TRYING TO FIND A MORE COST EFFECTIVE WAY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. I'VE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE OF WHICH NISSAN IS COMPLETELY AWARE. THE COOLANT LEAK/TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS IN FACT A DESIGN DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. IT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE THAT NISSAN HAS NOT RECALLED THESE VEHICLES, OR AT THE VERY LEAST MADE THE REPAIR FREE FOR CONSUMERS REGARDLESS OF VEHICLE MILEAGE. NISSAN KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE AND HAS NOT NOTIFIED CUSTOMERS TO FIX THIS PRIOR TO THE PART FAILING TO PREVENT MAJOR DAMAGE. THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 85K MILES FOR THAT PART, BUT IT NEEDS TO FAIL FOR THEM TO COVER THE REPAIR. I COULD HAVE REPLACED THE PART FOR AROUND $400 PREVENTING THE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION, IF NISSAN WOULD HAVE TOLD ITS CUSTOMERS. NOW I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION FOR $4000 AND RENT A CAR FOR ONE MONTH AT $800. THE DAMAGE OCCURRED WHEN I WAS DRIVING. A HIGH PITCHED WHINING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD ON A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP IN MODESTO CALIFORNIA AND MY WIFE WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD COST 1,300 TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS OR MORE IF THE TIMING CHAIN(S) WERE BAD. THE CAR HAS 71, 000 MILES AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. MY WIFE WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RISK OF FURTHER DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER INSTANCES WHERE TIMING CHAIN COMPONENTS FAIL JUST BEYOND THE MANUFACTURE'S STATED WARRANTY. THE ISSUE HAS HAD A TSB SINCE JULY OF 2007 #07042A. I HAVE HAD ALL OF MY SERVICE DONE AT THIS DEALER AND I HAD NEVER BEEN ADVISED ABOUT THE TSB OR THE NOISE. THE TIMING CHAIN NOR THE TENSIONERS SHOULD NOT FAIL AT 70,000 MILES. RECEIVED WARRANTY EXTENSION ON MY 2007 PATHFINDER RADIATOR TO 80,000. RADIATOR HAS FAULTY TRANSMISSION COOLER INSIDE WHICH LEAKS INTO TRANSMISSION CAUSING TRANSMISSION FAILURE. WHY NOT A RECALL. CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE AND THEY SAID THEY WILL ONLY FIX THE KNOWN DEFECT AFTER THE FAILURE WHICH OF COURSE LEAVES YOU STRANDED SOMEWHERE. THIS MAKES THE VEHICLE AN UNRELIABLE MODE OF TRANSPORTATION, ESPECIALLY ON LONG TRIPS. VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THIS VEHICLE DUE TO TRANSMISSION COOLER DEFECTS, TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER DEFECT, AND THE FUEL GAUGE INOP DEFECT. THESE ARE ALL MAJOR DEFECTS IN WHICH NISSAN GOT OFF EASY BY WARRANTY EXTENSIONS AND NOT PREVENTATIVE REPAIRS OF KNOWN DEFECTS. *TR

LIKE SOME OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS, I ALSO HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. IN OCTOBER 2009, WITH 48,000 MILES, MY TRANSMISSION STARTED TO ACT UP, SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF OVERDRIVE VERY ABRUPTLY, AND VIOLENTLY. ALSO, WHEN I WAS AT A CRUISING RPM OF 1500-2500 RPM, IN OVERDRIVE, THE CAR WOULD VIBRATE VERY VIOLENTLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION, AND FORTUNATE FOR ME, IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. 6,000 MILES LATER, IN FEBRUARY 2010, THE PROBLEM CAME BACK. ONCE AGAIN, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THIS TIME THEY STATED THAT THEY FOUND ANTIFREEZE IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THEY STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO CONTACT A NISSAN REP FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. 3 DAYS LATER I RECEIVED A CALL STATING THE PROBLEM (ANTIFREEZE WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION LINES FROM INSIDE THE RADIATOR, AND IT NEEDED REPLACED), AND THEY SAID THAT NISSAN WOULD COVER THE TRANSMISSION, BUT NOT THE RADIATOR. WHEN ASKED THE PRICE OF THE RADIATOR, THEY QUOTED ME 650 DOLLARS! THE RADIATOR ENDED UP COSTING ME 677 DOLLARS AFTER TAXES, AND THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY, ALTHOUGH THEY STATED THAT THEY SHOULD NOT, SINCE THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE RADIATOR. I SEE THAT THIS WAS NOT JUST A FLUKE PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE, BUT IT SEEMS TO BE COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED OVER THIS MATTER, FOR IT IS A SAFTEY ISSUE, AND SOMEONE IS BOUND TO GET INJURED, IF THEY HAVE NOT ALREADY. I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE OVER THE LEAKING AND MIXING INSIDE OF THE RADIATOR, LEADING TO THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. TODAY, ON AUGUST 24, 2010, I LEARNED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WILL NOW NEED REPLACED. A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH 64K MILES, ON ITS 3RD TRANSMISSION, NEW RADIATOR, AND NOW WILL NEED A TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!! NISSAN REFUSES TO ACCEPT FAULT FOR THE PROBLEM. *TR

A HIGH PITCHED HUMMING/WHINING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD ON A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND AFTER PERFORMING A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK, THEY STATED THAT IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN AND IT WOULD BE $935.00 TO REPAIR. I ASKED THAT SINCE THE CAR WAS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD WITH MAINTENANCE RECORDS SHOULDN'T IT BE UNDER WARRANTY. THEY STATED THAT SINCE I HAD 65,000 MILES I MISSED THE DEADLINE BY 5,000 MILES AND IT WAS O.K. TO KEEP DRIVING AND NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THEY HAVE HAD A SERVICE BULLETIN (NTB07-042A) OUT ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE APRIL, 17,2009. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE IN A FEW TIMES SINCE THE BULLETIN CAME OUT AND FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED ME ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE PAID FOR ANOTHER BULLETIN ISSUE REGARDING THE FUEL GAUGE(REFERENCE SERVICE BULLETIN NTB07-069B) THAT COST ME $395.00. I FEEL THE DEALERSHIP IS NEGLIGENT IN ADVISING MY WIFE TO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE TIMING CHAIN AND TO GO AHEAD AND DEAL WITH IT LATER. IT APPEARS THAT THEY WANTED MORE MILEAGE TO PLACED ON THE VEHICLE SO THEY WOULD HAVE A STRONGER CLAIM DOWN THE ROAD TO NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIRS THAT WERE MENTIONED ON A BULLETIN FIVE MONTHS PRIOR -WHICH MEANS THAT ISSUES HAVE EXISTED LONG BEFORE THIS TIME FRAME FOR A BULLETIN TO BE ISSUED. I LIVE IN ATLANTA, GA., A MAJOR METROPOLITAN CITY AND I FEEL THAT THE DEALERSHIP PUT MY FAMILY AT RISK BY ADVISING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE OFF THE LOT BECAUSE WHENT HE TIMING CHAIN GOES THE CAR LOOSES THE CAPABILITY TO FUNCTION - WHICH IS NOT SAFE ON THE BUSY MAJOR INTERSTATE SYSTEM. I HAVE SEEN A FEW INTERNET THREADS THAT MENTION SIMILAR EXPERIENCES. REGARDING THE FUEL GAUGE ISSUE (NTB07-069B), THIS SERVICE BULLETIN CAME OUT AUGUST 12TH, 2009 I HAD TO HAVE THIS WORK DONE ON 04/24/2009 AND IT COST ME THE $395.00. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE VEHICLE IN AND REPAIRED AT MY COST FOR SERVICE BULLETIN (NTB07-063)...ANOTHER BULLETIN I DISCOVERED TODAY. THE MAIN POINT IS A TIMING CHAIN SHOULD NOT GO OUT AT 65,000 MILES...VEHICLE = LEMON. *TR
