Car has extreme CVT shudder on acceleration. Know issue with Nissan (service bulletin NTB17-039K). Confirmed by dealer. Nissan won't fix this issue because of ever changing excuses. Issues caused traffic issue close call accident and driver hit head on side glass due to shudder.

As I am accelerating once the car reaches 30-60 mph there is a very distant shuddering that occurs that cause the engine to lose some power and turns the check engine light on. This appears to be a common problem as I have found many complaints on forums describing very similar symptoms.

I bought a new transmission from Nissan 2 years and couple of months ago, about 3 weeks ago car started jerking and engine light lit up. I took my car to my mechanic and he told me that it was CVT transmission problem, to take it to Nissan that it should be under warranty. Nissan had the vehicle for about two weeks and informed me that indeed it was the transmission but that it was not covered because I had an implied warranty. I called Nissan consumer affairs that informed me that the service department was wrong and a decision was not made yet. I was treated like trash by Nissan and was thrown out of the premises because I was asking questions she did not like. She accused me of calling names, which I never did and refused to let me take pictures of the vin# from inside the door. She did allow me to take pictures of my vehicle and told to that she was calling the police which was uncalled for. I went and spoke to Nissan managers, Alphonse and Igor about my situation at the service center and that the refused to to let me take a picture and I missed an appointment that I had on with one main financial at 3:00pm. Alphonse came with me to service center and I was able to get my keys and that the manager was lying because I showed him the video that I did. Very disappointed that it went this far, I might be suing Nissan. Because the Nissan supervisor that came with me noticed that the service center manager was lying he did not charge me for the diagnostic done.

I bought my 2014 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 sv a couple months ago and it’s always had when starting where the RPMS will constantly jump while driving, I took the car in to Nissan dealership in Tridelphia wv multiple times, after buying to have recalls done that needed to be done and they said it was fine no previous codes or anything. Then driving home from work [XXX] the check engine light came on and codes were CVT Judder, Bank 1 Low Catalytic Converter, Driver TPMS Sensors Bad. And then after couple days the check engine light went off. Car has a loud Humming noise prior to light coming on and still. RPMS still jump but now the speedometer does it as well. This can’t be safe and there’s been multiple accidents/complaints about the CVT Death Judder in these suvs and for what we pay for them it should be fixed before someone dies.They need to be recalled ASAP!!! 1 The CVT Transmission Failed, It is available, but it has to be towed. 2 While we drove down the expressway the transmission began to slip and skip gears in mid traffic at about 60 mph and at one point it stops pulling and I pull off the road and stopped but then it would not engage in gear (Pull off). 3 When I got it to move, I went Straight to the Nissan dealer, and they told me it needed a Transmission and brake pads and rotors for $ 8000.00 dollars. They Didn't Check the car because I watched them and they never raised the car or jack it up even to check the brakes. 4 no one but supposedly Nissan But that never happen 5 No Warnings, This Appeared / happen on Aug. 05, 2024

Driving on the highway and all of a sudden I my car started making a crazy juddering kind of motion and shut of completely when getting on the on ramp. Had to pull over very fast as there was a line of people behind me. Lost all power to my vehicle. Definitely a safety risk. Nissan has known of these risks and still doesn’t recall or replace these transmissions, quoting over $5,000 to replace is unbelievable. The car has only 99,000 miles on it. No prior warning light

I bought a used 2014 nNissan Pathfinder in august 2024. 1 week later, my transmission is going. The car bucks and does not work if idling for a short time. 2 local Nissan dealers stated that the transmission replacement is no longer available. So I am currently not able to use the vehicle and do not want to pay 8,000 for it to be fixed. If this was a recall and a known issue with this type of transmission. What can i do at this point.

Transmission sputters, hesitates at acceleration & after stopping sputters to move. Then died in intersection turning left. Evening tow sat behind vehicle for safety. In 1 situation actually rolled back at slight incline RR tracks after took my foot off brake. Had to put into park, before I could move forward. Hard time shifting from low gear to high gear when accelerating. Would shudder. In cruise control at 55 or higher would surge faster, slower. Finally, in cruise control, at 70 mph lost high gear, downshifted, rpms went very high. We slowed to a stop Pulled over, turned car off. Restarted. No forward gears, only reverse.

Good morning I am sure you are well aware of the cvt transmission problems with the Nissan pathfinder 2014. . Well I just join the group of Nissan [XXX] drivers . I had my cvt transmission replaced and I am still getting the judder as they call it each time I accelerate. Mileage was roughly 143K when I had notice these judder problems . Went to AAMCO had a new cvt transmission put in drive roughly 500 miles since then . I still experience those juddering incidents of the cvt transmission. What can be done ? Will go back to aamco but other then this , any recalls any liability on Nissan itself for manufacturing bad components or a bad cvt transmission? As for the airbag indicator light flashing on the dash . That happen after my cvt was replaced . Any ideas please ? Would appreciate any help advice here . Thank you . Car started to shutter, doing 55 mph and stop pulling..all lights were flashing then shut down, was able to coast into some business parking lot. Had to get towed to shop where was told needed alternator, replaced that and replaced battery…car would start but put in gear and same thing happened shut down and didn’t get but a couple of miles from shop..still no fix. Contacted a Nissan dealership was told maybe transmission. Told no recalls, which it should be.

Driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly lost all forward traction. No reaction to the accelerator anymore besides engine revving up. Once vehicle came to a stop, it had to be pushed off the road, impacting traffic on the road, putting my safety and that of others at risk. Technician pulled a “P17F0 - CVT Jutter” code. Dealership advised the vehicle needs a new transmission. Vehicle is less than 10 years old, less than 120,000 miles. Dealership advised no warranty coverage for the issue and a cost of $9,000 to replace CVT transmission. No warning or warning lights prior to incident. Regular maintenance at dealership (brand new purchase, one owner). Nissan is aware of the CVT transmission issues but offering no assistance. (Case # 52368136 from call with Nissan Customer care).

CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES. JUDDERING, LOST SPRRD DOWNSHIFT JERKS. GOING 70 ON HIGHWAY IT LOST SPEED JERKED ME AROUND LIKE I AM GETTING HIT. COULDN'T EVEN GO UP RAMP ON HIGHWAY. Its hard to believe that NHTSA dose not have a ban on these vehicals. There are many complaints and Nissan letters within Nissan that have been issued out to dealships ect. no to mention the law suits. NHTSA would be the first i would think to post and force these off of the road. Insted people like me are just forced to junk them and write them off. or spend your life savings on trans replacement.

This car has only 89,000 miles on it and I shouldn’t be having that issue and I’m being quoted $7000 to get if replaced. Nissan are doing a horrible job with their transmission and it’s not safe to be driving with that.

The transmission jerking/shuddering problem has been ongoing in the Nissan Pathfinder ever since a safety recall in 2014. Passenger airbag light is always on, even if an adult is seated there. The airbag warning light flashes on the dashboard. Nissan’s OCS system seems to be frequently complained about online. Dealers say it’s just wear and tear which is just unbelievable. Dealers quote repair / replacement cost for the frame and harness anywhere from $1200-$2900. I want to report this issue so that others with the same problem may come forward so a recall be issued.

Back on 5/27/21, I purchased a new transmission from Murfreesboro Nissan for my 2014 Nissan Pathfinder at 128k miles. Everything seemed fine at first, but a few months later, on 2/18/22, I got the CVT flush at 146k miles as advised. I mentioned that my Pathfinder was jerking, similar to when a transmission issue occurs. I was reassured that it was normal. Concerned about the ongoing transmission problems, I visited Murfreesboro Nissan on 9/16/22, when my check engine light came on. I specifically requested a diagnostic test and mentioned the transmission issue once again. However, I was informed that the problem was with the catalytic converter, which I had to get fixed elsewhere. I was once again told it was normal for the transmission to feel that way. Months passed, and on 12/2/22, at 159k miles, I returned to Murfreesboro Nissan for another diagnostic test. The situation had worsened, and this time the service advisor confirmed that the problem was indeed with the transmission. To my dismay, the advisor even admitted that she wished she had advised me to sell the transmission when I purchased it in 2021, as they apparently have consistent issues with their CVTs. She acknowledged that going from 128k miles to 159k miles should not require a new transmission, especially after getting the CVT flushed as recommended. Murfreesboro Nissan will not cover it since it just passed the 1 year mark of the transmission warranty though I have been complaining about it while it was still in warranty.

Experience judder and stall of vehicle while driving, pulling off and coming from a complete stop. Vehicle will lose power while driving which is unsafe when getting on the freeway or driving in high traffic areas. Vehicle has been taken to the Nissan twice and to other repair shops for related concern and all have stated that the trans needs replacing. There were no lights or warnings before problems started it all occurred simultaneously.

The vehicle while at highway speed would not accelerate at all and rpms go way up. At lower speeds between 20--40 mph the car would shake and jerk violently. On 4 separate times when getting on highway ramps during acceleration it would simply just not go, Locate dealer has done all recalls they have but will not address the CVT transmission problems.

Juttering - first noticed during accelerating while turning and then it started to happen at any given time - rolling slow and driving fast. It feels like the transmission is out of gear until I let off the accelerator and then it catches again. This is a safety issue due to unexpected speed and control variation. It appears to stem from the CVT that I've ready many complaints about. When I first noticed an issue (I was still within warranty), I took it to Nissan, but I believe only a software calibration was completed and that appears to have only been a temporary fix. Now, I'm beyond the warranty by years and miles and the issue has returned.

Yesterday as I was driving normally at about 40mph the traffic came to a stop I slowed down as usual then came to a complete stop when traffic began to move again I gently accelerated and my car started moving abnormally slow I pressed down a bit more on the pedal and no acceleration at all the car was on and on drive mode there was nothing irregular but it would not advance more than about 2/3 miles per hour super slow. This went on for a minute and no matter how many times I pressed the gas pedal nothing happened I was absolutely terrified of the cars and semis behind me because it was a freeway and traffic flow started moving quick and I was still at less than 5mph Suddenly the car jerked and at last speed. I drove off with the car working normal again but that situation has be very worried and scared because it is my main transportation for my 3 children

I was experiencing shaking and guttering during acceleration. I was coming from a full stop (red light, stop sign). It shakes, and I have back off the accelerator. When it happened, I had my children in the car on a busy roadway. I would hate to think of what could have happened if my vehicle had stopped on the busy road or crossing railroad tracks. Thankfully, we were close to home, roughly 2-3 miles away. I took the truck to the closest service center to have it looked at. It turns out it is a CVT failure. The service technician could reproduce the same guttering I explained and received various error messages. I have not had the vehicle taken to the dealer yet, as I would have to tow it because I fear driving the truck. I didn't experience any warning lights before the CVT failure. Now my airbag warning light comes on. I called the closest Nissan dealership and explained the issue I was having. Unfortunately, my vehicle has not been repaired because I don't have the $6k plus I was quoted for the repair. I have been made aware of a class action lawsuit regarding failing CVT transmissions. I don't have any information on where I can get help with this issue, and I don't have any correspondence from Nissan. My Pathfinder has been parked since April 2023.

THe ABS, brake and skid and other lights came on screen with 4WD error At this speed on a bridge with rain and wind to lose ABS is a risk, there was perceived loss of power train and and skid luckily no accident and we pulled the car over to safety what if was higher speed in rain/snow so writting this and also that nissan has a technical bulletin but not covered under nHtSA for them replace for free. THis was all sudden with shake. just like the picture in the https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10190203-0001.pdf We like to know if this is recall and is covered and to be paid by dealer or we have to out of pocket and if NTSB can help us and consumers recover this from Nissan or Nissan should do a safety recall on this part.

While driving down a four lane divided hwy, the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating despite the accelerator being pressed. A noise was heard ialong with severe vehicle studdering/vibration mmediately before the failure. Fortunately, i was able to coast into a parking lot without incident. However, had this transmission issue occurred 30sec earlier, i would have stalled out while turning left across oncoming traffic, potentially leading to a significant accident impacting myself and other drivers. Once into the parking lot, I tested the vehicle in various gear positions (low, 2wd, etc) and the vehicle would only respond when it was placed in reverse. I could not get the vehicle to accelerate forward or even obtain any engine rev when in a forward gear such as low, 2wd 4wd, etc. The vehicle has been towed to my mechanic's shop and he will conduct a full evaluation later this week. However, his initial diagnosis based on my description of the event, was that it was a transmission failure. I agree with his initial assessment particularly given the known transmission issues with this make/model year of the pathfinder. There was not any warning lamps at or before or even after the time of the event. The vehicle had experienced brief symptons of studdering in the recent weeks leading up to the failure. And the day prior, the vehicle experienced severe studdering and vehicle hesitation.

First one was on highway driving experienced significant loss power on the highway and "CVT Judder" as it has been described to me by the dealer. The condition was constant and would not allow my vehicle to accelerate and was running very high rpms and was no longer safe to drive any distance. Car was purchased Certified Used in March 2022, first bad transmission was in March 2022, failure occurred and was replaced under warranty. Then in April 2022 second CVT failure and dealer is indicating out of warranty for repair so will be at my expense $6,000+. We have had several major repairs to this vehicle both under warranty and outside- CVT replacement, rear axle, and also need catalytic converter replacement. I am attempting to contact Nissan Consumer Affairs for support but not hopeful given dealership response.

The condition was intermittent and temporary but became constant within days and is no longer safe to drive any distance. Car was purchased Certified Used in Spring 2017. By Fall 2018 first CVT failure occurred and was replaced under warranty. Summer 2022 second CVT failure and dealer is indicating out of warranty for repair so will be at my expense (~$6,000). We have had several major repairs to this vehicle both under warranty and outside- CVT replacement, axle seized, complete audio system replacement, catalytic converter replacement. I am attempting to contact Nissan Consumer Affairs for support but not hopeful given dealership response.

I purchased my car in March of 2018. It was still under the manufacturer warranty. Less than 3 months after having it and various trips to the dealership they had to rebuild my transmission. This was only at 46k miles. Fast forward to April of 2022 and my car is once again violently shuddering and has no power to pick up speed some times. I constantly pray that nothing happens to me or my family because of this. It is not safe. It does not shift correctly and shudders when it does decide to shift and then jerk into gear. There was a class action lawsuit apparently way before I purchased this car for these transmission issues. When I contacted Nissan directly and informed them of the issues I'm having yet again to which they informed me of some extended warranty that was in place for the Nissan Pathfinder that I was never informed of. Tired of paying out of pocket for an issue that Nissan is aware of. This is insane that people pay good money for vehicles and there has already been one class action lawsuit regarding these transmissions so what is it going to take before they recall the whole transmission? Is someone going to have to die before Nissan does what is right?

I started having problems with my Nissan years ago where it did not have sufficient power and it stalled on a couple of occasions. I took my car to a Nissan dealership on May 2020 and they were not able to diagnose the problem. They recommended to replace the transmission but did not guarantee that will solve the issue. The problem got worse making my car very unsafe to drive and I took it to a different dealership on July of 2021 where they told me that I need to replace my transmission and they indicated that this would solve the issue. I went ahead with the repair which costed me close to $6K. Now I receive the recall notice describing exactly the problems that I was having. Nissan should've been open about this recall and not make me spend thousands to solve an issue that was caused by them.

The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V774000 (Engine and Engine Cooling, Hybrid Propulsion System) however, shortly after the repair, the vehicle would stall right after start-up. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving or while the vehicle was idle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that they were not obligated to repair any additional damages during the recall repair. The contact was informed that the vehicle had no extended warranty service plan. The approximate failure mileage was 175,000.

The car had a violent shudder/shaking on acceleration. The CVT was the issue and confirmed by the local Nissan dealer to be what they often see. It had several small jolts over the years but nothing like this. Apparently this is a well know issue inside Nissan to where they extended some repairs without telling owners. If we know of issue we would have had it checked by dealer before the end of secret extended warranty.

Vehicle was purchased used from an AutoNation Dealership. This 2014 product has the same CVT defect as 2015 and above Pathfinders, but is not mentioned in settlement. Noted a continuous rhythmic thumping noise while driving and occasional scraping. We took the vehicle to a mechanic who informed us it needed to go back to the dealership because Nissan will not sell him a transmission. We were informed by the Nissan dealership a transmission replacement was necessary to make the vehicle safe at a cost of $6k. The parking pin is the defect of all other CVT transmissions in this class of vehicle. If this fails on the road, it will cause an accident when it lunges forward.

We have a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder and started having issues in June 2021. Our car stalled while driving home from work almost causing an accident. Had it towed to Nissan and they told us we needed to replace the Transmission. It took them 2 months to fix our car. In the midst of fixing the transmission they said the supercharger pulley needed to be replaced. OKAY! We finally get our car and a day later the check engine light is on again and now the horn wont stop blaring. We had to disconnect the battery. WE TOOK IT BACK TO NISSAN and they said the battery was bad. They replaced it but it did not fix the issue. Nissan had to call the Nissan Tech Line for suggestions. So they said the DC/DC converter assy needed to be replaced and the HV harness was also failing to communicate. All this is connected to the transmission. With the new recall coming out all of this should be refunded. We need assistance. Any information or suggestions anyone has would be highly helpful.

We purchased our vehicle from Nissan at 72K miles, we experienced a host of problems that we had to pay for out of pocket, only to have Nissan confirm our CVT transmission start to judder and start to lose power when turning left and right at low speeds. We experienced this at 111k miles when our car stalled when pulling out onto a busy road almost causing an accident in front of Walmart. We are in a situation where the repairs of the transmission and the other parts that continually fail are more money than what we have left on payments for the vehicle itself. With such a wide range of vehicles produced with this transmission type and such a widespread problem we feel like Nissan needs to take some ownership of the problem and would like some relief in the form of compensation or recall.

CVT transmission Failure. First failure was approx 53,000 miles. 2nd failure was at 82,500 miles. The first failure threw a code while in for service to investigate an engine shudder. We were experiencing some moderate engine shudder and hesitation. The second occurrence was a very dangerous situation. CVT would barely move (extreme hesitation) at low speed making turns with oncoming traffic to get home potentially deadly. These vehicles probably need to be repurchased by the manufacturer and taken off the streets. At a minimum Nissan should be forced to further extend the CVT powertrain warranty and take responsibility for these poorly designed units. Failures occur with no warning. Had the same situation occur on the highway with a Nissan Altima as well. Instant failure with no warning.

I purchased my car 1 year ago. Since then my car has continued to stutter. Sometimes its a suttle stutter, most times its very noticeable and has continued to get worse in the short time I've had my car. I commute 1 hour to work and 1 hour home from work and am very concerned traveling on the highway at high speeds with this issue. I've asked a dealership in Hutchinson, KS to help me with this issue as I am concerned the CVT valve in the transmission has not been fixed and they won't help me. They tell me that since their tech does not witness the stutter during their brief test drive there is nothing they can do to help. I've read several complaints on nhtsa.gov from other customers as well and they are consistent with my concern.

HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION 2 TIMES ON VEHICLE WITH 141000 MILES ON IT. THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS FAIL AFTER 60000 MILES OR SO. VERY FRUSTRATING TO PAY THIS MUCH FOR A VEHICLE TO HAVE SAME EQUIPMENT FAIL MULTIPLE TIMES. THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSIONS ARE NO BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS. I OWN A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER AND THE TRANSMISSION DIED LAST WEEK. I TOWED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE REPAIR IS $5,400. AFTER SOME DIGGING I DISCOVERED THAT NISSAN HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR TRANSMISSION AND THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY THEN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE CVT TO 10 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES, HOWEVER OWNERS WERE NEVER INFORMED OF THIS RECALL/ CAMPAIGN SINCE ALL VEHICLES WOULD NOT EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME MY TRANNY FAILED AT 125,000 MILES AND THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY, ALTHOUGH ALL THE CIRCUMSTANCES I OUTLINED ABOVE SHOWS' THEY DID NOT DO THEIR DO DILIGENCE TO INFORM AND FIX THE ISSUE AFTER THEY FOUND OUT ABOUT THE FAULT. THE REBUILT TRANSMISSION COME WITH A 1 YEAR OR 12KMI WARRANTY. NEVER AGAIN. STAY AWAY FROM MISSAN THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT.

THIS WAS REPORTED TO MY DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AT MULTIPLE SERVICE APPOINTMENTS SUCH AS OIL CHANGES. THE PROBLEM WAS PURPOSELY NOT DOCUMENTED ON MY SERVICE SHEETS AND I LEARNED THROUGH THE INTERNET OF WHAT MY PROBLEM WAS WHEN MY DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THEY COULD NOT DETECT A PROBLEM. THE CVT HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM WHEN THE WHOLE TIME I THOUGHT I HAD A FUEL OR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS AND KEPT ME IN THE DARK OF THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO ACCELERATION ON HIGHWAY AND STALLED DUE TO FAULTY TRANSMISSION. MY WIFE AND TWO KIDS WERE STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK CAR IN FOR CONCERNS ABOUT TRANSMISSION AT 77 K MILES WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY SAID IT WAS FINE WITH NO CODES. THE CAR HAS JUST OVER 100 K. THE CAR WAS DEAD IN THE WATER. I HAD TO GET CAR TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP ONE MILE AWAY. DOING MORE RESEARCH ON THE TRANSMISSION AND SAW THE OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSION IN THE 13 AND 14 IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE AND NISSAN KNOWS IT. THE TRANSMISSION WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT HAVE SEEN THAT NISSAN KNOWS THE TRANSMISSIONS ARE FAULTY AND HAVE HELPED PEOPLE WITH REPAIR COSTS. SO I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND THEY SAID I DID NOT MEET THE CRITERIA FOR WHICH THEY WOULD HELP. I ASKED WHAT WAS THE CRITERIA? FROM THE INFORMATION I GATHERED, THEY WILL NOT HELP IN REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION UNLESS YOU HAVE SPENT A BOATLOAD OF MONEY AT THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. I HAD A FRIEND OF MINE, SAME THING HAPPENED TO TRANS, NISSAN PAID FOR 70% OF TRANSMISSION REPAIR. I LEARNED THAT HE HAD PREVIOUSLY SPENT THOUSANDS AT THE SERVICE CENTER ON OTHER REPAIRS AND HE WAS APPROVED. I ARGUED WITH NISSAN THAT I AM BEING PENALIZED FOR HAVING A CAR THAT WORKED WELL AND DID NOT HAVE A BUNCH OF REPAIRS. SO THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT NISSAN WILL HELP ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS AT THEIR SERVICE CENTERS. THEY TALKED TO ME ABOUT CUSTOMER LOYALTY. I SAID HOW CAN I BE A LOYAL CUSTOMER AFTER THIS. NISSAN HAS SOLD A BUNCH OF LIES AND CONTINUES TO LIE TO CUSTOMERS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSIONS. THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SERVICE RECALL AFTER THE OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE OF THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER FOUND THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING BAD, WHEEL BARREN. THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE BACK TO ME AFTER A WEEK. THE NEXT DAY, THE TRUCK WAS SMOKING AGAIN EVERYTIME I WOULD START THE IGNITION. I EXPERIENCED THE FOLLOWING WITH MY TRANSMISSION ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS; CAR JUMPING INTO LOW GEAR AND SIGNIFICANTLY HIGH RPMS DRIVING UPHILL, CAR JUMPING INTO LOW GEAR AND SIGNIFICANTLY HIGH RPMS DRIVING DOWNHILL, AND GEARS 'SLIPPING'. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM THE NHTSA IN 2017 FOR MY VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND DETAILED WHAT I BELIEVE TO HAVE BEEN TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND AS I HAVE EXPERIENCED THEM. I WAS TOLD THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE ISSUE, THEY OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH JANUARY 1, 2021 OR UNTIL MY CAR REACHED 84K MILES. I THOUGHT THE ISSUES WAS ADDRESSED AND WENT ON WITH LIFE. EVEN WHEN I EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES I DOUBTED IT WAS TRANSMISSION RELATED AS I WAS ASSURED THE ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED BY THE DEALERSHIP. I STARTED TO THINK IT WAS BRAKES RELATED, A FROZEN CALIPER OR SOMETHING. IT WASN'T UNTIL RECENT WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STEEP HILL WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY 'JUMPED' INTO A LOW GEAR AND I HAD TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO GET DOWN THE HILL DID I REALIZE THIS ISSUE WAS IN FACT TRANSMISSION RELATED. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED THE DIAGNOSTICS AND DETERMINED THERE IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION. MY CAR IS AT 92K MILES AT THIS POINT AND OUTSIDE OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. NISSAN STATES THEY WILL ONLY COVER 70% OF THE REPAIR COSTS. I URGED THEM TO CONSIDER THE FACT THAT I HAD PREVIOUSLY VOICED CONCERNS WHICH ARE CAPTURED IN THEIR RECORDS AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS ONLY ABLE TO NOW DUPLICATE THE ISSUE I HAD PREVIOUSLY VOICED IN 2017 WHEN MY CAR WAS WITHIN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD. NISSAN STATES BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE THEN, THEY WILL NOT HONOR 100% OF THE REPAIR COSTS AND ARE OFFERING THE 70% OUT OF GOODWILL. I BELIEVE I AND OTHERS MAY BE TREATED UNFAIRLY BY THIS CAR COMPANY.

THERE IS A VIBRATION OR JUDDER FEELING FROM THE REAR DRIVE TRAIN. THE ACTION REQUIRED IS THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ELECTRIC CONTROLLED COUPLING. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ISSUED BY THE NHTSA. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY YOUNG CHILDREN. THERE IS A VIBRATION OR JUDDER FEELING FROM THE REAR WHEN MAKING TURNS, ON DRY ROADS, AT LOW SPEEDS (UNDER 40 MPH). I PURCHASED MY NISSAN PATHFINDER AND NISSAN ROGUE NEW IN 2014. ALMOST ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICE HAS BEEN DONE AT BANISTER NISSAN OF CHESAPEAKE, 930 N BATTLEFIELD BLVD, CHESAPEAKE, VA 23320 DEALERSHIP. AT APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES THE PATHFINDER BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY DURING ACCELERATION BETWEEN 15MPH AND 30MPH. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND HESITATES ON BOTH VEHICLES. DETAILS OF THIS PROBLEM HAVE BEEN SHARED REPEATEDLY WITH DEALERSHIP ADVISORS AT THE TIME OF SERVICE. AT FIRST TECHNICIANS CLAIMED NOT HAVE NOTICED ANY TREMBLING / ISSUES DURING TEST DRIVES WITH THE PATHFINDER. THEN EACH TIME I BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE SHUDDER, THE DEALER WOULD BLAME IT ON OTHER ISSUES. I HAVE REPLACED THE TIRES, BRAKES, AND ROTORS SEVERAL TIMES AT THE ADVICE OF THE DEALER. NONE OF THAT FIXED THE SHUDDER. NISSAN HAD A RECALL FOR A DEFECTIVE VALVE BODY IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VALVE BODY WAS REPLACED ON BOTH VEHICLES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. BANISTER NISSAN OF CHESAPEAKE DID NOT INFORMED ME UNTIL AFTER THE PATHFINDER WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THAT TRANSMISSION WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEMS AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. I REQUESTED ASSISTANCE FROM THE NISSAN MANUFACTURER AS ADVISED BY THE DEALERSHIP SINCE I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE PROBLEMS FOR SO LONG. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. NISSAN AGREED TO PAY FOR REPAIR COSTS FOR THE VEHICLE. BANISTER NISSAN OF CHESAPEAKE NOW TELLS ME THEY WILL NEED TO DO ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT REFUSE TO COVER ANY COST ASSOCIATED. THE ADVISORS STATED THAT DIAGNOSTIC COULD COAST ANYWHERE FROM $200 - $800. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE EXPERIENCING MOST OF THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE 2014 NISSAN ROGUE PURCHASED NEW AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP.

NISSAN ISSUED A "CAMPAIGN" DUE TO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT WHERE THE CVT TRANSMISSION WAS MALFUNCTIONED WHICH CAUSE SHUDDERING IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE WHILE DRIVING AT 20MPH. AFTER BRINGING THE ISSUE TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ON 2/28/17 THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY IMMOBILIZED ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC NEARLY CAUSING A TRAGIC ACCIDENT INVOLVING BOTH MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN. NISSAN FAILED TO SEND CORRESPONDENCE ADVISING OF THE CTV UPDATE WHICH CAUSED THE ISSUE TO GO UNRESOLVED AND ULTIMATELY CAUSING THE FAIL OF THE TRANSMISSION. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE RECTIFIED WITH MODELS CONTAINING THE CTV TRANSMISSION. NISSAN HAS JUST ADVISED THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS WOULD COST ME A TOTAL $4,800.00 FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE OF SENDING THE PROPER CORRESPONDENCE REGARDING THE CAMPAIGN. THEY SHOULD BUY BACK THIS CAR AND ALL OTHERS LIKE IT AS THIS CAN CAUSE TRAGIC ACCIDENTS.

AS OF 10/31/17 PATHFINDER AT DEALER. AS PER SHOP MANAGER JUDDER/JUTTER STILL PRESENT AND THEY ARE WAITING FOR NISSAN RESPONSE. THE TRANSMISSION JERKS AND JUMPS SHAKING WHOLE VEHICLE. NISSAN SERVICE UNABLE TO FIX AFTER MUTIPLE ATTEMPTS OVER A SPAN OF 11 MONTHS. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD STOP ALLOWING NISSAN TO SELL ANY CAR WITH A CVT TRANSMISSION TO CONSUMERS. THEY ARE UNSAFE AND WILL CAUSE A FATALITY WRECK DUE TO MALFUNCTIONS. NISSAN REFUSES TO REPLACE OR REPURCHASE MY VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ORDEAL AS FAR BACK AS 2015. MOST RECENTLY MY CAR TRANSMISSION DOES NOT CHANGE GEARS PROPERLY. WHEN I SLOW DOWN AND TRY TO ACCELERATE THE CAR WILL EITHER SHUDDER AND FAIL TO GO PAST 20MPH. ADDITIONALLY I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY JERK WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. FROM TIME TO TIME, MY 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER WILL NOT ACCELERATE ON FULL THROTTLE WHILE DRIVING. I NOTICED THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME WHEN THE MILEAGE WAS AROUND 22K, AND NOW AROUND 34K, IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP A WEEK AGO TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. THEY CHANGED A BRAKE RELAY AND DID SOME RECALL-RELATED SOFTWARE UPDATES. SINCE THEN, IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR IN THE INTERSTATE RAMP AS I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I LOOKED UP ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS THE MAJOR ISSUE AMONG THE 2013-2014 PATHFINDERS AND THEY HAVE RECALLED CLOSE TO THE MILLION VEHICLES FOR THIS. HOWEVER, ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER'S TAG ON MY CAR, THIS BATCH WAS BUILT AFTER THE RECALL DATE (AUGUST 2014). IT LOOKS LIKE NISSAN PROBABLY HAVE NOT YET FOUND THE REAL SOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE, OR, THEIR CVT TRANSMISSION DESIGN IS FUNDAMENTALLY FLAWED. WHATEVER MIGHT THE REASON BE, NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE AND PUT MORE PRESSURE ON THEM TO FIX IT. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE...PLEASE INVESTIGATE!!!

I REQUESTED ASSISTANCE THEN THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT AND REPLACE IT AT THEIR EXPENSE. ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICE HAS BEEN DONE AT NISSAN DEALERSHIPS. THE ORIGINAL JUTTER ISSUE WAS EXTREME, BUT I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT THE NEW JUTTER ISSUE IS COMPRESSED AND NOT AS NOTICEABLE, BUT I WAS NOT INFORMED UNTIL AFTER IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THAT IS WOULD NOT FEEL THE SAME. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE JUTTER CODE IS BACK AND THAT WAS I WAS FEELING IS IN FACT THE SAME ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NISSAN WHERE THEY SAID IT WAS THE INDUCTION AIR FLOW , ECM, AND COST $400. AFTER LEAVING NISSAN I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK THE NEXT WEEK FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE SERVICE MANAGER DROVE IT AND SAID THAT HE THOUGHT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE 2014 ARE KNOWN TO HAVE PROBLEMS. HE SAID TO BRING IT BACK IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. I TOOK IT BACK AGAIN AFTER BEING STRANDED 3 TIMES, ALMOST HIT SEVERAL TIMES AND ONCE BY A SEMI- TRUCK WHEN IT SHUDDERED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. NISSAN CONFIRMED THAT IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT WAS DEFECTIVE. THEY WANT ME TO PAY $4000 BECAUSE IT HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT. I FILED A CONSUMER COMPLAINT WITH AMERICAN NISSAN CORP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW. CVT TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SHAKING SINCE THE FIRST MOTH OF PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 1,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE COMPUTER IN MY 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER CONTINUED TO PRESENT DIFFICULTIES. THESE MALFUNCTIONS WERE DOCUMENTED WITH NISSAN AND THE COMPUTER WAS IN FACT REPLACED. WE WERE IN NEGOTIATIONS WITH NISSAN TO WARRANTY THE COMPUTER WITH THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. ON APRIL 1, 2016 MY WIFE STARTED THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY AND WENT INSIDE TO LET IT WARM UP. WHEN SHE WENT OUT (APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES LATER) THE VEHICLE WAS GONE. IT HAD SLIPPED INTO DRIVE ON ITS OWN AND GONE STRAIGHT DOWN INTO THE WOODS, TAKING OUT TWO TREES AND HITTING A TELEPHONE POLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NISSAN'S FINDING WERE THAT THE BLACK BOX WITHIN THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHOW ANYTHING AND, THEREFORE, THEY WERE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. WE HAVE ALL THE DOCUMENTATION FOR THE DIFFICULTIES WITH THE VEHICLE LEADING UP THE COLLISION.

TRANSMISSION FAILURE- MY VEHICLE HAS HAD A SHUDDER WHEN TURNING AND AT LOW SPEEDS SINCE DAY ONE, AND IT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW. IT NOW HAS 38,000 MILES. EACH TIME I BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE SHUDDER, THE DEALER WOULD BLAME IT ON SOME 'OTHER' ISSUE. SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR, I HAVE REPLACED THE TIRES 2 TIMES AT THE ADVICE OF THE DEALER (YES, THEY TRIED TO BLAME IT ON THE TIRES) AND HAVE HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED AT THEIR ADVICE. NONE OF THAT FIXED THE SHUDDER. I'VE SPENT A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS PROVING THAT. LAST WEEK IT WAS AT THE DEALER FOR 4 DAYS, AND THEY ADMITTED THERE IS STILL A SHUDDER, WHICH IS CONSTANT AND GETS WORSE WHEN GOING UPHILL, BUT SAID IT IS BECAUSE MY TIRES ARE "SQUARE". BRAND NEW TIRES THEY JUST TALKED ME INTO BUYING. THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING MORE THEY WILL DO AND ASKED ME TO COME GET MY VEHICLE . THIS IS THE FOURTH DEALERSHIP MY CAR HAS BEEN TO. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND NOT 2 BLOCKS DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 10 MPH IT STARTED VIOLENTLY JERKING AND NO AMOUNT OF GAS WOULD MAKE IT GO. IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, WITH MY BABY IN THE BACK SEAT. IT DID THE SAME THING SEVERAL MORE TIMES ON THE WAY BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEIR MECHANIC DROVE IT AND AGAIN, IT IMMEDIATELY JERKED VIOLENTLY AS HE FIRST PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL- HE DID NOT EXPERIENCE IT STALL (OR SAID HE DIDN'T ). NOW THEY ADMIT IT IS NOT TIRES AND SAID THEY NEED THE COMPUTER TO VERIFY THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. THEY WON'T FIX IT UNLESS THE COMPUTER SAYS THERE IS AN ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT DRIVABLE. NISSAN CORPORATE CALLED ME TODAY TO SAY THE COMPUTER SAYS THERE IS NO ISSUE AND TOLD ME I HAVE TO RETURN THE LOANER CAR AND PICK MY BROKEN DOWN PATHFINDER BACK UP. NO REPAIR WILL BE PERFORMED, SINCE THE "COMPUTER" ISN'T GETTING A FAULT CODE. SO I AM STUCK WITH A $40,000 HUNK OF JUNK THAT I CAN'T DRIVE OR EVEN SELL. CORPORATE EVEN SAID THAT IF IT IS NOT DRIVABLE, I SHOULD TOW IT AWAY.

WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND INDEED, ANOTHER TRANSMISSION FAILURE. TAKE FOR INSTANCE YESTERDAY BETWEEN 20-25 MPH THE VEHICLE JUST STARTED TO JERK SIGNIFICANTLY. TOOK TO SERRA VISSER NISSAN IN CULLMAN AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN OUT ON THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT NEEDS REPROGRAMMED. THE COST WAS 105 AT MY EXPENSE. I DECLINED BECAUSE THIS SHOULD FALL UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY AND PROCEEDED TO CALL NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS HOTLINE TO OPEN CASE ABOUT ISSUES. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS. IT SEEMS THAT NONE OF THE REPROGRAMMING, REPLACING TRANSMISSIONS, TORQUE CONVERTERS EVEN SOLVES THE PROBLEM. IVE EVEN READ WHERE IT IS A DESIGN FLAW IN TRANSMISSION. 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER PURCHASED 12/31/2013. TRANSMISSION ACTED ODD WITHIN FIRST MONTH OF OWNERSHIP, BUT WAS TOLD IT TAKES SOME TIME TO GET USE TO THE CVT. ACCEPTED THE JUDDER FOR ABOUT A YEAR, AS IT WAS ONLY OCCURRING DURING SLOW SPEEDS IN PARKING LOTS. HAD A COUPLE CLOSE CALLS IN THE SPRING OF 2015, WHERE THE TRANSMISSION SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND THE CAR WAS STALLING IN INTERSECTIONS. DEALER SAID THEY NEEDED TO FLASH THE COMPUTER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WIFE DROVE THE CAR 9/15 (12,000 MILES ON ODOMETER), CAR CONTINUED TO JUDDER, SO WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP UNABLE TO REPLICATE. SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THEY KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE, BUT UNTIL THE COMPUTER THROWS A FAULT CODE, THEY ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO PERFORM WORK. I CALLED NISSAN NA, THEY DIDN'T REALLY CARE, SAID THAT THE REGIONAL REP WOULD CALL AT SOME POINT. 9/17, SERVICE REP CALLED AND SAID THEY STILL CANNOT FIND A CODE, ASKED THAT I PICK IT UP AND CONTINUALLY DRIVE IT IN THE CONDITION THAT CREATES THE JUDDER AND FORCE THE CAR TO THROW A CODE SO THEY CAN WORK ON A FIX. PURCHASE NEW, TWO TIMES IN THE SHOP, TWO MORE AND I WILL PURSUE STATE LEMON LAW. OUTSTANDING DEALERSHIP AND SERVICE MANAGER SUPPORT, BUT THEIR HANDS ARE TIED ON THIS ONE. BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THE NISSAN CORPORATION KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT REFUSES TO FIX. THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND OTHER OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE IS NOT IMPORTANT. SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH, AS THE RESULT OF LOSS OF POWER IS NOT ENOUGH TO FIX. EVIDENTLY THE $4000.00 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER IS MORE VALUABLE THAN MY FAMILIES LIFE. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A SHUDDERING AND HESITATION WITH MY TRANSMISSIONS FOR MONTHS NOW. I USUALLY FEEL THIS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM LOW SPEEDS. IT IS A SHAKING/VIBRATING FELLING AND IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO SHIFT GEARS. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS TO EAST CHARLOTTE NISSAN SINCE OCTOBER, WHERE AT FIRST I WAS TOLD IT WAS A RECALL. WELL, ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL,SAID IT WAS NOT SHOWING UP AS A RECALL AT THAT TIME. I TOOK IT BACK IN DECEMBER, BUT THE CAR STILL DID NOT HAVE A RECALL. AS THE PROBLEM PERSISTED, I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS GIVEN AN UPDATE AND THAT IF IT CONTINUED TO BRING IT BACK BECAUSE NISSAN REQUIRES THEM TO GO THROUGH A SERIES OF STEPS BEFORE REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION. WELL THIS PAST WEEK (JUNE 15-21), IT HAS GOTTEN MUCH WORSE. IN ADDITION TO THE SHUDDERING, HESITATION, AND VIBRATION WHILE ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE HAS BEGUN ALMOST ACTING LIKE IT WAS TO STALL WHILE DECELERATING. THIS IS BECOMING EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. I HAVE ANOTHER AAPPOINTMENT SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY. HOPEFULLY THIS TIME I WILL GET SOME RESULTS.

MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN IN AWD WHEN MODERATE TO FORCEFUL ACCELERATION IS REQUIRED TO MAKE THE TURN OR BE HIT BY ONCOMING VEHICLES. FROM A DEAD STOP, A TURN IS EXECUTED AND THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED BETWEEN HALF-THROTTLE AND FULL-THROTTLE. THE VEHICLE RESPONDS NORMALLY AT FIRST BUT ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS INTO THE TURN THE POWERTRAIN CUTS OUT AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE TO MORE THAN A CRAWL. THIS CAN LAST UP TO 6 SECONDS AND PUTS THE VEHICLE IN JEOPARDY. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND HAVE NARROWLY ESCAPED COLLISIONS SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT THINGS IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR TO RESPOND. NONE OF THE FOLLOWING HAS WORKED: RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR AND REAPPLYING (PUMPING). GIVING AND HOLDING FULL THROTTLE. MY UNEDUCATED OPINION IS THAT THIS IS A SOFTWARE GLITCH FOR THE CVT. I THINK THAT THE TRANSMISSION ASSUMES THAT THERE IS WHEEL SPIN UPON ACCELERATION (ALTHOUGH THERE IS NONE) AND THE ANTI-SKID SOFTWARE REDUCES ENGINE POWER TO PREVENT WHEEL SPIN. THIS HAS PUT ME IN LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS. I REPORTED IT TO NISSAN AT THE FIRST COMPLIMENTARY OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. WHEN I PULL OUT IN FRONT OF A SPEEDING 18-WHEELER, I WORRY. I FEEL THAT I CANNOT DEPEND ON RELIABLE ACCELERATION IN NORMAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. THE CONDITION IS DIFFICULT TO REPEAT ON-COMMAND.

TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER WHO DID TEST DRIVE, BUT SAID COULD NOT DUPLICATE, BUT SAID PROBLEM WAS WITH CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) TORQUE CONVERTER. OFFERED NO REMEDY. I DO NOT FEEL SECURE IN TRAFFIC AS DO NOT KNOW IF TRANSMISSION IS DAMAGED BY SHUDDERING. I HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER ON 4 DIFFERENT TIMES, THEY CLAIM TO HAVE FIXED THE AIRBAG, BUT AFTER THE FIX MY LIGHT CONTINUES TO BE ON INTERMITTENTLY EVEN WHEN AN ADULT IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT NISSAN SAID THE AIRBAG WOULD DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH THE LIGHT WASN'T WORKING. I FEEL THAT NISSAN IS NOT HONORING THEIR WARRANTY, I BOUGHT A NEW CAR AND THE LIGHT ISN'T WORKING AND I CAN'T BE SURE THE AIRBAG IS WORKING EITHER. NISSAN-USA ADVISED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE A BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH AS THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO OFF WHEN PARKED. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON 02/16/2015, AND THE NEXT DAY THE SAME LOSS OF POWER OCCURRED THREE TIMES ON A FIVE MILE TRIP. NISSAN -USA WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT FILED. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD TRADE OUT MY CAR WITH THE 2015 MODEL BECAUSE AS STATED BY THEM THE 2015 MODEL DOES NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD HOWEVER, MY PAYMENTS WOULD GO UP TO AN AMOUNT THAT I CAN NOT AFFORD TO MAKE. ACCELERATION / TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. ISSUES BEGAN AT 3100 MILES. NO ACCELERATION FROM STOP, OR VERY MINIMAL. FELT AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS "SLIPPING" AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE, OR SIMILAR TO DRIVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AT MPH IN 4TH GEAR. ISSUE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES ON MY COMMUTE HOME. WAS STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND REQUIRED TOWING BECAUSE I COULD NOT MAKE THE VEHICLE MOVE FORWARD AT ALL. ABNORMAL BURNING SMELL COMING FROM FRONT OF CAR WAS OBSERVED. I WAS STRANDED IN WINTER WITH A 3 MONTH OLD IN THE CAR. AT ONE POINT I WAS BASICALLY STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION DUE TO THE LACK OF ACCELERATION. I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED IN ONE CASE AND WAS IN SERIOUS DANGER OF BEING SIDESWIPED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION, THIS ISSUE COULD PRESENT A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD (AND DID FOR ME). FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, I WAS WORRIED FOR MY PERSONAL SAFETY WHILE DRIVING A CAR. ALSO OBSERVED ERRATIC ENGINE RPM'S AT IDLE (FROM 1000 TO 1500) AND WHILE COASTING. RPM WOULD JUMP UP AND DOWN WITH CONSTANT (OR NO) THROTTLE APPLIED. DEALER HAS HAD THE CAR FOR OVER 3 WEEKS AT THIS POINT. INITIALLY THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE, AND NO ERROR CODES WERE SHOWN ON THE COMPUTER. EVENTUALLY THEY DID REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND ARE NOW REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AFTER CONSULTING WITH NISSAN. I HAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT NEITHER NISSAN OR THE DEALER HAS ANY CLUE HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE. THEY ARE JUST TRYING DIFFERENT THINGS TO SEE WHAT MAKES IT WORK AGAIN. I WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT AND NEITHER THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE SIDE AIRBAGS DID. THE VEHICLE WENT HEAD FIRST INTO THE DITCH AND THEN FLIPPED OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AFTER I FIRST BOUGHT IT AND SUPPOSEDLY "FIXED." OBVIOUSLY NOT. THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER. MY PATHFINDER IS A TOTAL LOSS. THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALSO HAD MULTIPLE OTHER ISSUES INCLUDING THE ENGINE COILS, TRANSMISSION COMPUTER AND FINALLY THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MOVE, THEN SHUDDERED AND STOPPED IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IT HAS DONE THIS A FEW TIMES SINCE THEN, THE MOST RECENT WAS JUST OVER A WEEK AGO. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERS SERVICE DEPT., I WAS TOLD IT DID THE SAME THING WITH THEM DRIVING IT. I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE SOME KIND OF BULLETIN FROM THE FACTORY REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND IT CLEARLY STATES THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THEY PROVIDED ANOTHER VEHICLE FOR ME TO DRIVE AND TOLD ME IT WILL TAKE 2 WEEKS FOR THEM TO GET ANOTHER TRANSMISSION AND ANOTHER 2-3 DAYS TO INSTALL IT. TWO DAYS AFTER LEAVING IT WITH THEM, I RECEIVED A MESSAGE STATING MY PATHFINDER WAS READY TO BE PICKED UP. THE MESSAGE STATED THEY HAD REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION. HE SAID THAT NISSAN SETS UP THE PARAMETERS BASED ON THE GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES AND IF THE LIGHT IS ON AND AIRBAG IS OFF THAT IS BECAUSE IT NEEDS TO BE ON AND DISABLED. IT HAS CONTINUALLY GOTTEN WORSE. THE NISSAN ENGINEER RODE WITH ME ON 7/31/2014 AND SAID THAT HE FELT THE SHUDDER AND THAT IT WAS A COST OF ACHIEVING CAFA STANDARDS AND WAS ACCEPTABLE. HE STATED THAT WHEN MOST CUSTOMERS ARE TOLD THAT THE SHUDDER IS THERE BECAUSE OF FUEL ECONOMY THEY ACCEPT IT AND ARE SATISFIED. HE IMPLIED THAT I WAS JUST BEING DIFFICULT AND HARD TO PLEASE. SO THE GM CAME BACK WITH SOME GOOD NUMBERS AND OFF THE LOT I WENT WITH ANOTHER BRAND NEW 2014 FULLY LOADED PATHFINDER ON MARCH 8TH 2014 I STARTED FEELING THIS VERY HARD SHUDDERING WHEN DRIVING 0-20MPH I THOUGHT IT WOULD STOP BUT IT JUST GOT WORST SO ON MARCH 10TH 2014 I DROPPED TRUCK OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND TECH WAS ABLE TO HEAR AND FEEL WHAT I FELT AND THEY PLACED A CALLED TO NISSAN WHICH ADVISED THEM TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT IT WOULD TAKE A WEEK. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP THE TRUCK ON FRIDAY MARCH 14TH 2014 THEY PULLED IT INTO THE BAY I GOT IN THE DRIVERS SET STARTED THE TRUCK AND RIGHT AWAY I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL DID NOT GO DOWN ONLY UP AND DOWN. I CALLED THE SERVICE REP OVER AND ADVISED HIM WHAT WAS GOING ON AND HE CALLED HIS MANAGER OVER AND THEY BOTH SHOOK THEIR HEADS AND SAID YOU ARE REALLY HAVING A TUFF TIME WITH THESE PATHFINDERS AND SAID WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO DRIVE IT OVER THE WEEKEND TO TEST OUT THE NEW TRANSMISSION OR LEAVE IT HERE? ACCELERATING FROM STOPLIGHT ACROSS HIGHWAY WHEN TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. RELEASED ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO STOP VIOLENT SHAKING. I BOUGHT A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER PLATINUM WITH 9 MILES, I DROVE IT HOME APPROX. 50 MILES AND FOUND I WAS GETTING I-KEY SYSTEM ERROR. DEALER INSTRUCTED ME IT WAS THE FOB PROGRAMMING ERROR, THEN THEY INSPECTED THE CAR AND TOLD ME A TRANSMISSION SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE WHICH PREVENTED THE ECM TO RECOGNIZE THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE MODE NOT IN NEUTRAL OR PARK. WITHIN THE NEXT 50 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH P0850 ERROR. MECHANIC FIXED THE ISSUE AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, NOT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG (ON/OFF) INDICATOR IS INTERMITTENT EVEN WHEN AN ADULT OVER 140LBS IS SITTING ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. SOMETIMES IT IS NOT OFF AS REQUIRED. I THINK BOTH ISSUES COULD POSE RISKS TO PASSENGERS AND MAY CAUSE ACCIDENTS. SINCE 10/12/13, THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED VIOLENT SHUDDERING AND LOSS OF POWER. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BROUGHT TO THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT IT IS ALWAYS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE. WE CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT GETS WORSE. FINALLY AFTER IT BECOMES ALMOST UNABLE TO DRIVE NISSAN ADMITS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND REPLACES THE CVT. WE ARE NOW ON OUR THIRD CVT SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR ON 7/22/13. WE HAVE TO TRAVEL A TWO LANE MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY AND IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND DUE TO LOSING POWER GOING UPHILL WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY. IT HAS HAPPENED AT A BUSY INTERSECTION AND THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND THE CAR BEHIND US SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES AND SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING US. IT HAS HAPPENED AT SPEEDS FROM 30 TO 60 MPH. I AM GRAVELY CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY, WE ALSO HAVE A NEWBORN AND I AM SCARED TO HAVE HIM IN THIS CAR BUT I HAVE NO CHOICE. PURCHASED 2014 PREMIUM PLATITUM NISSAN PATHFINDER ON 10/9/13. THE SAME EVENING I NOTICED THE CAR VIOLENTLY JERKING FROM STOP TO 35 MPH (2000 RPM). I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A FLUKE. 4 DAYS LATER THE CAR DID THE SAME THING SEVERAL TIMES. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY CLAIM THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE ISSUE. 3 DAYS AFTER THAT, THE CAR VIOLENTLY JERKED FROM STOP TO 35 MPH ALL MORNING. I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY DUPLICATED THE ISSUE. SAID CAR NEEDS A TRANSMISSION. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE TO DETERMINE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN. IT HAPPENS QUIT FREQUENTLY WITH THE 2013/2014 CVT TRANSMISSIONS IN THE PATHFINDERS. CHECK EDMUNDS.COM, KBB.COM, ETC FOR REVIEWS. THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS ALL SAY THE SAME THING. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE WHEN THE CAR IS TRYING TO LEAVE 2ND GEAR WHILE JERKING, IT IS NOT PICKING UP SPEED AND CAN CAUSE SOMEONE TO RUN INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR; CAUSING INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO IMMEDIATELY AND NISSAN NEEDS TO STOP PRODUCTION OF THESE TRANSMISSIONS UNTIL THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. NHTSA PLEASE GET INVOLVED TO STOP NISSAN FROM PRODUCING THESE FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS AND TO FORCE THEM TO FIX THE ONES THEY HAVE SOLD TO INNOCENT PURCHASERS.
