The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving in a parking lot at unknown speeds, the vehicle began jerking and stalled. The battery had become inoperable. The TPMS message was displayed. The failure was linked to Technical Service Bulletin: NTB15-015h. The local dealer was called and informed the contact that the failure was related to the CVT transmission and confirmed there was no coverage for the repair of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Engine failure in my vehicle equipped with the VQ35DD engine, which I believe is the result of a widespread and well-documented design defect involving internal sludge buildup. I have owned this vehicle for over five years and have followed the recommended routine maintenance schedule, including on-time oil changes using high-quality oil. At no point during any inspection, service, or maintenance appointment was I informed of any sludge buildup or concerns with the engine. Only after a serious mechanical failure did the Nissan servicing dealership claim the engine was full of sludge, subsequently recommending an engine replacement. Despite my diligence in maintaining the vehicle, I am now facing an engine replacement that was entirely unexpected and has created a safety risk due to loss of motive power. This could have resulted in a serious accident, and I believe this issue merits urgent and transparent attention. Upon researching this issue, I found dozens of similar complaints from other owners with VQ35DD engines, many of whom reported premature engine failure, sludge accumulation, and PCV system defects—despite maintaining their vehicles properly. This issue is being widely discussed on forums, including: [XXX] [XXX] It is unacceptable that Nissan has not issued a technical service bulletin, recall, or extended warranty to address this problem, particularly when it may stem from a known defect in the PCV system or engine design (such as poor oil flow, crankcase ventilation failure, or GDI-related contamination). Given the facts outlined above and the potential safety hazard, a full investigation should be taken to help Nissan customers. Timing chain failure at 88,000 miles on well maintained vehicle. Could cause catastrophic engine failure. No leading indicator.
As I was driving my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, when the vehicle suddenly accelerated to a high rate of speed and the gas pedal became stuck. I tried to press on the brake as much as possible but the vehicle was not successfully able to be stopped which caused a terrible motor vehicle accident.
PCV Valve hose clogging rendering system useless and resulting in sludge buildup in engine. The sludge buildup causes issues with timing chain lubrication and ultimately destroys the guides causing excessive engine rattling, aluminum flakes in the engine. Causes loss of power, numerous different engine codes, and ultimately catastrophic failure of engine. Hise collapses within itself and prevents proper crankcase ventilation. See attached pictures.
The Check Engine light turned on and took it to dealership on 12/14/24 and they stated that Throttle chamber may have issues. Used scanner and code P0101- Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit was read on scanner. Vehicle struggles to get air flow into engine causes speed to struggle when trying to accelerate.
On Sunday [XXX] while driving to Savannah Georgia to attend a funeral my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder broke down. I was able to coast off the road out of traffic in the pouring rain. I had the vehicle towed to Statesboro tire and brake in Statesboro Georgia who was in network with my extended warranty company. On May 20th 2024 I was told the engine failed due to metal in the oil. They opened a claim and diagnosed the issue. The warranty company requested the oil pan be dropped and pictures to be submitted to them to continue with the claim. Upon further inspection there was sludge and noticeable metal in the oil pan. My extended warranty company denied the claim. I asked if i could submit my maintenance records to prove the vehicle had been maintained. I was told no by the warranty company and statesboro tire and brake didn't even submit them for me. So I had to pay for the work test had been done and have the vehicle towed back to Grovetown Ga. which is where I live. I contacted Nissan consumer relations at this point not knowing what else to do. They opened a claim and I then had the vehicle towed to the Nissan dealership near me. Which they did another diagnosis and the claim through them was also denied. I purchased this vehicle used from CarMax in Augusta Georgia with 41502 miles on it. Upon purchasing the vehicle I maintained the vehicle keeping up with all of the manufacturers recommendations for maintenance and service. I contacted CarMax to see if they could do anything because they are who I purchased the vehicle from. The service manager at CarMax was able to submit my records to the extended warranty company and the claim was approved. The engine is being replaced after almost 6 months of persistence. It is a used engine but at least it's a new engine to me. On [XXX] the vehicle had 100573 miles. There were no warning lights. The vehicle had no issues until it just died on that date. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the road and attempted to jumpstart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the property and was later towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed but no cause for the failure was identified. The contact stated that several weeks afterwards, the display screen went black before the vehicle lost motive power. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the road and attempted to jump start the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle shut off as soon as the contact arrived at the local dealer. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer where it was diagnosed but no cause for the failure was identified. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. Complete engine failure while driving on highway putting the safety of my family(including 2 young kids) at risk. We were able maneuver to the side of the road. We were stranded on side of highway in a very rural area at night with no power(no hazard lights, or heat) for a while. Car towed to Nissan dealership, who stated a new engine is needed. Paper work is available. For history, a new timing belt was installed in Fall 2023, but no issues since (no warnings, messages or problems).
The dealership is recommended a brand new engine despite it only having 130,000 on it.
I have had so many problems with my vehicle. I have spend so much on auto repair. Latest one I took in to a local mechanic and he diagnosed it with transmission issue with a timer. It’s hard to go from 30 to 40mph. He also looked it up and said there’s a recall. I called my local Nissan dealer and was told my vehicle is not under the recall. Every dealers being asking me if I have transmission issues and I finally said yes trying to trade my vehicle. They mentioned Nissan has transmission issues.
According to the dealership the engine has sludge and unrepairable
While driving at a speed of 60mph on the highway my pathfinder lost all power and became had to control as my car came to a complete stop causing me to be stuck in between to merging highways with traffic on each side . I was given no warning this was about to happen and it could have cost me my life . My car had to be picked up and towed I would assume it’s my transmission or my engine it is the 3rd. I could not accelerate or shift at all despite having NO warning lights on until I turned it off to save my battery and make my self able to keep my lights and flashers on without causing anymore damage to my car which has already had a complete engine ,diffrential, and transfcase, radiator, and tan blades replaced multiple times at just 2 years old but was out of mileage so Nissan wouldn’t honor them . Well I assumed with Nissans suite winces they know it’s their transmissions they would cover everyone’s since this is on going however they didn’t and only covered to mileage to my surprise .

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the cooling fan was replaced and the warning light was reset; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the vehicle would only start after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the PCV hose collapsed and was applying significant pressure on the crankcase, causing an engine misfire. The dealer replaced the PCV hose; however, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the fractured exhaust clamps were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer diagnosed that the cylinder #1 ignition coil might have failed. The dealer replaced the transmission fluid, coolant exchange kit, and brake fluid. The engine control module (ECM) reprogramming was completed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer; Zeigler Nissan of Gurnee (3175 Grand Ave, Lindenhurst, IL 60046), where it was diagnosed that the long block, exhaust manifold gasket, intake manifold, throttle body, the bank one #1 catalytic converter, and other unknown parts needed to be replaced. The manufacturer informed the contact that she was responsible for the cost of the engine assembly replacement prior to them assisting with the catalytic converter replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 36,539.

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power without warning. Due to the failure, another vehicle crashed into the vehicle at a low rate of speed. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. Due to the snowy weather, the contact was advised by the police that both drivers pull off to the nearest exit and exchange information. A Police report was not filed. No medical assistance was required; however, the contact did sustain mental trauma due to the sudden failure. After the contact exchanged information with the other driver, the failure occurred two more time before she reached her destination. The contact stated that the low battery warning light appeared on the instrument panel after the second failure and the traction control warning light appeared after the third failure. The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer but was informed that she had called after business hours. The vehicle was taken to a body shop where it remained in their possession for an inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 52,700.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V807000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic), the dealer diagnosed that there was a mechanical defect in the engine and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to Nissan of Yorktown Heights (3495 Old Crompond Rd, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598) where the dealer performed the recall repair and replaced the engine. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The radiator fan is failing at 62k miles. Researching online it was found that this is a common occurrence for 2017 Nissan Pathfinders between 20k and 80k miles. Fan failure could lead to overheating and eventually fire. Vehicle was taken into the dealership for a knocking/rattling noise coming from under the hood. There were no check engine lights or warning lamps to indicate an issue. The dealership has to order a complete new assembly and motor, which is an extensive repair as well.
Began hearing a rapid patterned running at first, which quickly developed into a shaking that could be felt in the steering wheel. Determined that it only happened while the heating and ventilation system was active. Opened the hood, no signs of obstructions, does look like the fan blades of the radiator are loose and hitting the shroud. Given the need for heat to defrost windows as well as safetly operate in the winter with children in the car, it is unsafe to use the vehicle until this mater can be resolved, as without the radiator fans the engine could overheat as well. Will be looking to have the part replaced asap, as the vehicle is needed for livelihood, and with as many people have reported this issue, surprised there has yet to be a recall to address this, as it seems to be the same issue, with others having bearings going out causing a similar issue.
My 2017 pathfinder has 41,000. The fan AC/heating sound loose and makes loud noise.
Cooling fan is failing, bearings wearing and fan hits shroud. It is available to inspect. Problem inspected and confirmed by independent mechanic and subsequently by the Nissan dealer. No warning lamps, only an increasing noise from the cooling fan audible inside and outside the vehicle.

ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS SMOKE EXITING THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE LOCAL DEALER WITHIN A MONTH. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED A THIRD TIME BUT WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY MAINTENANCE DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. READING FORUMS AND DOING RESEARCH HAS BROUGHT ME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT NISAN IS BUYING AND HAS BEEN BUYING FAULTY RADIATOR FANS FOR YEARS. MY WIFE DOES NOTHING BUT DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK, AVERAGING AROUND 10K MILES A YEAR ON HER PATHFINDER UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND WE ARE BEING ASKED TO REPLACE A FAN THAT HAS MYSTERIOUSLY JUST STARTED MAKING ALL KINDS OF NOISE. NOT ONLY IS THIS A PROBLEM BUT IT'S CAUSING CONSUMERS TO SPEND UPWARDS OF $1000 TO REPLACE THIS. I HAVE RECENTLY FOUND A PATHFINDER FORUM WITH WELL OVER 450 RESULTS RELATED TO THIS PARTICULAR ITEM ONLY. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER NORMAL DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY SO THIS IS COMING OUT OF CONSUMER POCKETS. THIS ISN'T FAIR TO ME OR ANYONE ELSE THAT I HAVE SPOKEN TO. WHY WOULD THIS FAN JUST GO OUT FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN IT'S A FAULTY FAN WITH POOR WORKMANSHIP ASSOCIATED WITH THE PRODUCT. NISSAN DEALERSHIPS ARE MAKING A KILLING, $400 TO $600 JUST IN LABOR WITH ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. OCTOBER 2019, I NOTICED A LOUD CLANKING NOISE ON OUR 2017 NISSAN PATHFINDER. I DO NOT LIVE NEAR DEALERSHIP, SO WE CALLED AND DESCRIBED SYMPTOMS. THE SERVICER REPORTED THAT WHILE HE COULDN'T DIAGNOSE WITHOUT SEEING THE VEHICLE, GUESSED OUR RADIATOR FAN NEEDED REPLACED DUE TO BEING A COMMON PROBLEM, NOT UNDER WARRANTY AT APPROXIMATELY 65K ($1800 EST.) COOLING FAN REPLACED BY LOCAL MECHANIC FOR APPROXIMATELY $600 WITH AN AFTERMARKET PART. THIS FAN IS IMPERATIVE IN KEEPING THE TEMPERATURE REGULATED AND CAN CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE AND SAFETY CONCERNS. WHICH LEADS ME TO MY NEXT COMPLAINT. SUMMER 2020. I TAKE MY PATHFINDER TO MY MECHANIC (BRAKES, TIRES, OIL CHANGE). I BEGIN HAVING ISSUES WITH ENGINE SURGING WHILE DRIVING/IDLING, RATTLING ENGINE, STALLING AT LIGHTS, ISSUES STARTING INCLUDING HESITANCY FOLLOWED BY REVVING. OVER TWO WEEKS, I WAS EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT FLASHING INDICATOR LIGHTS. NO MECHANIC, AUTO PARTS WAS ABLE TO FIND A CODE. I CALLED MY CLOSEST DEALERSHIP THE LAST WEEK OF AUGUST AND RECEIVED AN APPOINTMENT FOR 9/14, 3 WEEKS AWAY. I GREW CONCERNED WITH MY FAMILIES SAFETY EACH DRIVE AND BEGAN REACHING OUT TO OTHER DEALERS (2+ HRS AWAY). MY PATHFINDER WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER 9/4/20. DIAGNOSED WITH TIMING CHAIN, GUIDE, TENSIONER ISSUES. ESTIMATE $3100. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN MARCH 2020 WHEN MY LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT KICKED ON WHICH DIDN'T MAKE SENSE AS I HAD JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE A FEW WEEKS PRIOR AND KEPT UP ON MY OIL CHANGES . THE ENGINE THAT IS IN MY VEHICLE IS APPARENTLY NISSANS NEWEST ENGINE AND A VERY EXPENSIVE ONE AT THAT . I REQUESTED AN EXCEPTION FROM NISSAN IN REGARDS TO THE ENGINE SO I DID AS THEY SAID AND TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP THIS TIME THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP . THEY CLAIMED MY ENGINE WAS A TOTAL LOSS AND IT WAS DUE TO LACK OF MAINTENANCE THERE WAS NO WAY THIS WAS THE CASE IN MY SITUATION . NISSAN INFORMED ME THAT MAYBE THE PREVIOUS OWN R HAD DONE IT AND BASICALLY THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE . SO I GOT ONLINE AND STARTED LOOKING AROUND TO FIND THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAD REPORTED THE SAME THING . MY VEHICLE IS PRIMARILY ALL HIGHWAY DRIVING I PAID OVER 7K FOR A NEW ENGINE TO BE PUT IN MY CAR FROM A LOCAL SHOP . THE ENGINE HAD TO BE TAKEN OUT TWICE BECAUSE THE INSIDE PISTONS WERE STICKING THIS WAS ON THE NEW ENGINES . ONCE MY ENGINE WAS FINALLY INSTALLED AND MY 02 SENSORS REPLACED AS WELL A WEEK LATER MY CAR WAS THROWING A MISFIRE FOR LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT. VEHICLE WAS TOWED IN AND WOULDN'T TURN OFF. CREST NISSAN IN FRISCO, TX PULLED BOTH BATTERY CABLES, AND THEN PULLED THE WIRING HARNESS OUT OF THE BACK OF THE IPDM MODULE. THEY REPLACED THE IPDM MODULE AT THIS TIME. AFTER THEY DID THIS IS WHEN THE FOLLOWING ISSUES STARTED OCCURRING. WE BACK OUT, TURN THE WHEELS TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT, AND THEN PLACE THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE. AT THIS POINT WE HAVE TURNED THE WHEELS BACK TO A CENTER POSITION AND GO TO ACCELERATE TO MOVE FORWARD. THE ENGINE RPM DOESN'T INCREASE AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE. THE TRUCK IS RUNNING, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. AFTER 3-5 SECONDS, THE TRUCKS ACCELERATOR PEDAL WILL ENGAGE AND THE TRUCK WILL PROCCED FORWARD. OVER 70% OF THE TIME, AFTER THIS OCCURS, THE TRUCK EXHIBITS A LOSS OF POWER AND A LOUD "ROAR" COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. IF YOU PULL INTO A PARKING LOT, TURN THE TRUCK OFF, AND GO INSIDE FOR A FEW MINUTES, THE TRUCK WILL START RIGHT UP AND THE LOUD "ROAR" IS NOW GONE. HOWEVER, THERE ARE TIMES WHEN YOU GO TO START THE VEHICLE (USING THE START/STOP BUTTON ON THE DASH) AND THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT TURNS HALF A ROTATION, AND THEN STOPS. APPROXIMATELY 1 - 1.5 SECONDS LATER, THE ENGINE WILL CONTINUE TO TURN OVER AND THE TRUCK WILL START. THE TECHNICIANS AT CREST NISSAN ORIGINALLY TOLD US THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND THE ISSUE AND THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICKUP ON 07/11. MY WIFE AND I WENT TO THE DEALER, GOT INTO THE TRUCK, AND WITHIN FIVE MINUTES DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM. WE WENT BACK INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, ASKED BILLY TO RIDE WITH US AND HE SAW THE PROBLEM. HE THEN KEPT THE VEHICLE AND SHOWED THE TECHNICIANS IN THE MORNING. WE STILL DON'T HAVE OUR TRUCK BACK AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO TO FIX.

LOUD KNOCKING NOICE COMING FROM ENGINE, AFTER RESEARCH AND DEALER CHECKUP IT APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THESE 2014-2018 PATHFINDERS. THE PROBLEM TYPICALLY OCCURS AROUND 50-60K MILES WHICH IS OUTSIDE OF THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY. MINE BEGAN AROUND 50K, ANYTIME MY ENGINE GETS HOT AND BOTH FANS KICK ON THE COOLING FAN ASSEMBLY STARTS VIOLENTLY VIBRATING (I HAVE VIDEO WITH SOUND). THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE VIBRATING IS TO TURN OFF THE A/C WHICH IN OUR TEXAS SUMMER HEAT REACHING OVER 100 DEGREES IS UNREALISTIC CONSIDERING I USE THIS AS A FAMILY VEHICLE. IF YOU LOOK AT ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS REPORTED YOU AND DO A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH YOU WILL SEE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE OF IT AND IN MY OPINION SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR INSTALLING A FAULTY FAN. I WAS QUOTED $950 TO REPLACE THE BAD COOLING FAN ASSEMBLY PART BY THE DEALERSHIP. IT IS MY SINCERE HOPES THAT A FULL INVESTIGATION IS DONE AND A RECALL IS ISSUED FOR THE NUMBER ONE COMPLAINT WITH THIS VEHICLE.

I GOT 2017 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH 37,500 MILES. RADIATOR COOLING FAN STARTED MAKING A WEIRD RATTLING NOISE, RECORDED THE VIDEO AND TOOK IT TO NISSAN DEALER. TECH RIGHT AWAY SAID IT THE RADIATOR FAN SECONDARY BUSHING IS GONE BAD AND NEED TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE FAN ASSEMBLY WITH SHROUD, WHICH COSTS $950 (550 FOR PARTS AND 400 FOR LABOR). I WAS TOLD VEHICLE IS STILL DRIVABLE AND ITS SECONDARY FAN THAT GOES BAD WHICH WON'T KICK IN UNTILL VEHICLE GETS REALLY HOT (SUMMER). FOUND IT ONLINE THAT THESE FANS GO BAD QUICKLY ON PATHFINDERS AND IS A KNOWN ISSUE. I AM WONDERING WHY THERE ARE NO RECALLS OF THESE FANS AS THEY FAIL SO PREMATURELY, SOME TIMES THEY HAVE TO BE REPLACED 2 TIMES WITHIN 50K MILES.

WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BOTH IN MOTION AND STATIONARY, IF THE HEAT OR A/C IS ON, THE RADIATOR FAN MOTOR ASSEMBLY MAKES NOISE AND SHAKES BACK AND FORTH. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE ASSEMBLY COULD FALL APART CREATING SHRAPNEL TO BE THROW THROUGH THE ENGINE BAY AND THE ROAD. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE WITH A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH AND AFTER TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE WITH THE PATHFINDER WHICH NISSAN REFUSES TO ADDRESS. MY DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY HAD REPAIRED THREE OF THESE ON THE SAME DAY I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN ALONE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH NISSAN IS TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE RESULTS COULD CERTAINTY BE DEADLY.

AT 44,000 MILES BEGAN HEARING AN UNUSUAL INTERMITTENT NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AREA. IT DEVELOPS WHEN I TAKE SHORT DRIVES AS WELL AS EXTENDED DRIVES. HOWEVER ON EXTENDED DRIVES, IT BECOMES MORE FREQUENT. LAST NIGHT WAS ONE OF THOSE EXTENDED DRIVES. I WAS OVER 150 MILES FROM HOME, AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 100 MILES WHEN IT REOCCURRED, I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND UPON INSPECTION THE NOISE APPEARS TO BE RELATED TO THE ENGINE COOLING FAN. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THIS APPEARS TO BE A LATENT DEFECT FOR THE MAKE OF THE VEHICLE WHICH THE MANUFACTURE HAS FAILED TO CORRECT. SHOULD THE FAN CEASE TO FUNCTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE ENGINE MAY OVERHEAT WHICH MAY CAUSE IT TO SEIZE POSSIBILITY CAUSING A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT. RISKING NOT ONLY LIFE AND LIMB OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS OF MY VEHICLE, BUT THOSE OTHER TRAVELERS ON THE HIGHWAYS AS WELL AS EMERGENCY RESPONDERS TO THE DISASTROUS ACCIDENT.

I PURCHASED MY 2017 NISSAN PRE-OWNED WITH 40,000 MILES AND I HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 4 MONTHS. I ALSO STARTED HAVING LOAD NOISES COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHILE THE A/C WAS RUNNING. COME TO FIND OUT IT IS THE RADIATOR COOLING FAN ASSEMBLY WAS SHAKING AROUND AND NOW I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED! I HAVE NOW DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NISSAN DOESN'T WANT TO ADDRESS OR DO A RECALL ON. SEEING AS THAT PATHFINDERS FROM 2014-2018 MOST AROUND 30K TO 50K HAVE BEEN AFFECTED YET SOMEHOW THESE ISSUES ARE NOT OF CONCERN. I CALLED NISSAN AND SHE TOOK MY COMPLAINT BUT DID LET ME KNOW THAT THIS HAS NOT BE ADDRESSED AS AN ISSUE BY NISSAN. I REALLY LOVE MY NISSAN PATHFINDER BUT I AM SO DISAPPOINTED NOW BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DOING RIGHT BY THE CUSTOMER IS NOT A CONCERN OF NISSAN.

SINCE THIS OCCURRED I HAVE TALKED TO NUMEROUS PEOPLE ONLINE THAT STATE THIS VERY THING HAS HAPPENED TO THEM ON PATHFINDERS RANGING FROM 2014-2018 AND IT ALL SEEMED TO HAPPEN AROUND 40-50K MILES AND NISSAN WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. WE OWN A 2015 AND A 2017 PLATINUM PATHFINDER BOTH WITH 25K MILES. THE 2017 HAS 20-30 MORE HORSEPOWER THAN THE 2015, BUT THE 2017 IS MUCH SLOWER. THE 2017 IS VERY SLUGGISH FROM 0-35MPH. THE ACCELERATION HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. I'VE PUT THE HIGHEST OCTANE IN AS INSTRUCTED BY NASHVILLE NISSAN; STILL SLOW. ACCELERATING UPHILL AT LOW RPMS MAKES THE ENGINE RATTLE (ABLE TO HEAR IT WHEN DRIVING BY A STRUCTURE TO BE ABLE TO HEAR THE SOUND REVERB OFF BACK TO VEHICLE). TRIED MULTIPLE DIFFERENT AIR FILTERS TO HELP ENGINE BREATHE, STILL SLOW. ANY HELP WILL HELP.

MY 2017 PATHFINDER HAS ABOUT 22K MILES ON IT, HAD, PLENTY OF GAS AND OIL, BUT JUST RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 30-25 MPH ON A 4-LANE ROAD. I WAS DARN LUCKY I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER AND WASNT HIT IN THE PROCESS. THEN THE CAR WOULD START AND IMMEDIATELY DIE; AND I WOUND UP HAVING TO GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING BEFORE THIS HAPPENED - IT SIMPLY SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS IN FORWARD MOTION. THE DEALERSHIP WASN'T ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE OR TO GET A CODE BACK FROM THE COMPUTER - THEY WERE COMPLETELY CLUELESS. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. ON FEBRUARY 10, 2018, WE BROUGHT HOME A NEW PUPPY. WE WANTED TO CALM OUR CURRENT PET DOWN SO I WENT INSIDE MY HOUSE TO LET HIM OUT TO USE THE RESTROOM AND CALM HIM FOR THE INTRODUCTION. IT WAS A COLD NIGHT SO MY 7-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER AND HUSBAND WERE IN THE BACKSEAT UNBUCKLED WITH THE HEATER ON. NOBODY WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT AT THE TIME. THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND I HAD THE KEY IN MY POCKET IN OUR HOUSE. ABOUT 7 MINUTES LATER I HEARD A CRASH. IN MY MIND, I FIGURED MY HUSBAND WAS MOVING THINGS IN OUR GARAGE BUT WHEN I WENT OUTSIDE, THE CAR HAD ACCELERATED UP MY DRIVEWAY AND INTO MY GARAGE. IT CRASHED INTO MY FREEZER, AND IF THE FREEZER HAD NOT BEEN IN THE WAY IT WOULD HAVE CRASHED INTO MY HOUSE. NISSAN FLEW AN ENGINEER DOWN FROM TENNESEE AND HE RAN A REPORT ON HIS COMPUTER AND FOUND NO FAULT. I ASKED IF THEY KNEW WHY IT HAPPENED AND IF THEY TOOK THE VEHICLE APART TO LOOK FOR CAUSE AND THEY SAID: "NO, WE WERE NOT LOOKING FOR WHY ONLY IF THE COMPUTER SHOWED AN ERROR." I ASKED FOR THE REPORT AND THEY STATED THAT THE REPORT WAS PROPRIETARY AND REFUSED TO RELEASE IT TO ME. IT SEEMS ODD THAT THEY WOULD NOT RELEASE THE REPORT IF NISSAN IS NOT AT FAULT.
