While driving at normal speed, the vehicle unexpectedly shifted itself into neutral twice without any driver input. During both incidents, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion in traffic, creating a safety risk for the occupants and surrounding vehicles. Prior to and after these events, the vehicle displayed a “SERVICE A/T” message and a check engine warning light. The vehicle has been inspected by a dealership. They identified an engine-related concern (including a failed mass air flow sensor) and an electrical concern requiring attention. However, the dealership reported that they were unable to duplicate or diagnose the unintended shift into neutral, and the cause of the neutral engagement remains unknown. This issue has occurred more than once shortly after purchase of the vehicle. The warning lights and messages have been reproduced by the dealer, but the loss-of-drive event has not. The unresolved transmission or powertrain malfunction poses an ongoing safety concern.
The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that after stopping at a gas station, the vehicle was restarted but stalled. There several unknown warning lights flashing on the instrument cluster. The vehicle was unable to be restarted and was towed to a local dealer. The contact stated during the failure the transmission was in drive(D) and could not be shifted to park(P) or neutral(N). The dealer recharged the 12-Volt battery and had difficulty diagnosing the failure. The dealer determined that the transmission control module needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the vehicle was losing motive power while driving. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was stopped, turned off and restarted to regain normal operation. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times. The failure recently recurred with several unknown warning lights illuminated and the vehicle was towed to the same dealer. The contact became aware that in March 2024 another dealer replaced the fuel pump for a previous vehicle owner. The dealer had not yet diagnosed or repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,607.

Car caught fire when off and parked.
Sunroof leak- causing issues throughout the car. Mold which is very serious and dangerous. This HAS to be addressed.
My 2022 Pathfinder had 34,725 miles on it when I left for the grocery store, on the way while driving on the highway I got an alert on my dash saying "check shift level position", which that seemed normal & fine, and vehicle was still driving normally at this point. That alert then went away as I was driving a moment or two later ( however I did get a photo of it). A very few moments later, I was driving along and the vehicle suddenly shifted into N(eutral)! I pulled over, shifted into park, turned off the car, restarted it, and the check engine light was on. However I shifted the car into D(rive) and proceeded to try to get back home, car seemed to be driving normally, but then no, it began again, the car suddenly shifted into N again as I was driving. I tried pulling over and restarting the vehicle again, but the same thing happened again. I decided to have my passenger take a video of our drive home so that it could be easily shown to the dealer what was happening, that way there would be no question of if the dealer could replicate the issue or not. During our aprox 6:07 minute trip home, it happened another 5 times! Once I was home I found that I had a email from MyNissan saying that there may possibly be an issue with my vehicle emmisions system. My husband has a code reader and he plugged into it and it showed a code of P0742, which is ("torque converter clutch circuit stuck on"). So the next morning 10/01/24 I called my dealership and spoke to service and let them know what was going on and that it needed to come in, I explained however that I would not be loaded my 3 kids in the car and making that hour + trip up there driving the car as this is a HUGE safety hazard. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership. The next day the dealer did reach out to me and tell me they plugged into it, saw the P0742 code, but "didn't know what to do with that", so they were calling the Nissan "TechLine".
The car ac doesn't work after 2 years, drivers side heated seats not working, computer for stereo and car will randomly shut down
When attempting to put my vehicle in park by pressing the park button on the gear shift, a large red alert popped up on the dash that said "when parked, use emergency brake", and instead of shifting into park, shifted into neutral, where the car then rolled until I applied pressure on the brake. At this time, the car nearly rolled over my young child as it was not expected for the vehicle to roll after being put into park. There were no warning lights or messages prior to this occurring. It was then found that there has been a service bulletin out regarding a shifter issue with this model vehicle. I took the vehicle to a Nissan dealership where I paid $230 for diagnostics, where they confirmed that the issue was directly related to the service bulletin, but that they would not repair the vehicle as my car was out of warranty, even though it is only two years old. They suggested I reach out to Nissan North America Consumer Affairs to request payment outside of a manufacturer warranty, where they opened a case, and ultimately denied any assistance in repairing the defect that has been found to be known about for nearly a decade, yet they keep making vehicles with the same defective issue.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The rear backup camera fails to display the rear camera image when in reverse. Upon starting the vehicle and selecting reverse, the camera first displays the reverse camera image, when vehicle is in motion and actively reversing the camera display goes black, temporary failing to display any picture. After approximately 2 seconds, the picture returns. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The federally required rear view camera systems fails while in reverse and activity in motion, potentially failing to capture obstacles or people while reversing. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle was brought into a dealer who could not reproduce the problem. The issue occurs at an unpredictable frequency and not upon every startup or reversing cycle. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The only symptoms is that of the failure itself described above, no other indications leading up to or following the failure present. This issue has been occuring since purchase, new, from a dealership.
The automatic collision breaking system light just came on. I turned it off and waited a while. I was fine for two days then came back on and stayed on. Took it to the dealer and they said I must have hit something because the sensors were not aligned. I explained I had hit nothing. There is no damage at all to the bumper. No accident reports no damage nothing but they insisted I “must have hit something.” Light when off again for about a day then came back on. Radio turns off and on randomly. Had an engine overheating after I turned the car on a 56 degree day.
I have a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, If this model year runs out of gas or stalls in traffic with the engine inoperative the vehicle cannot be moved out of the lane of traffic. It has an electronic transmission therefore the vehicle has to stay in the lane of traffic until towed. All wheel vehicle would be very criticle. Three dealers have verbally confirmed there is no remedy at this time.
Electrical: Stereo display and infotainment system often freezes, lags, or has performance issues that cause delays in Camera system from functioning, radio functionality, and connected audio sources from functioning. Has already been replaced, and replacement now has severe backlighting issues, sound quality is reduced. Transmission: transmission often jerks or “clunks” when shifting. Issue occurs when at a complete stop to Drive, or Park to Reverse. Severe delay when shifting. Transmission “reprogram” and “patch/update” was performed but only provided slight improvement. Brakes: Upon warming up, brakes sound like grinding, wobble, and sounds like metal against metal. Car has been in repair numerous times since purchase without proper repair.
7/7/22. Per my wife - difficulty starting car. Sounded like battery was dead. It would click and try to start. Finally got it started, put into reverse, and felt some resistance like brake was on but it wasn’t. Put car in drive and it seemed okay. Had to wait for traffic at about roundabout and the car shifted into neutral. I was able to shift back into drive but the same thing happened at the next roundabout..one again, I put it into drive and went 13 miles with no problem. Had to cross a road and while waiting for traffic, the car shifted into neutral but this time the shifter locked up. It wouldn’t shift into drive or reverse so I had to call 911 (Nicollet County, MN for traffic control. I was afraid to shut it off because I had difficulty starting it. I eventually shut it off and that was the solution to the problem, Taken to dealer, could not discover reason for this There are numerous complaints online about this very issue. This is a very serious/dangerous issue. I can forward the info I sent to the dealer if needed.
Wireless charger for iPhone overheated my phone battery and burned out the screen. This could be a serious fire hazard.
The car delays start. When I press the push to start, the radio will come on but all the indicators will be lit but the car wouldn't start. Sometimes I have to press the start button multiple times. Forward collision warning sensor randomly turns off. Sensor will say malfunctioning at random times.
The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the braking system would not release with multiple error messages displayed. The vehicle would not start. The vehicle was towed to the local dealerer who serviced the vehicle and corrected the failure. No further information was available. The vehicle was retrieved by the owner but two days later the same failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed to a 2nd dealer who was unable to determine to cause of the failure. The manufacturer sent an engineer to examine the cause of the failure. The engineer examined the vehicle and indicated no failure was found. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 3,000.
