THE GAS GAUGE MUST BE FAULTY. IF I FILL UP MAY MOVE OR NOT. USUALLY SHOWS EMPTY. THE VAN MAY BE MOVING OR SITTING STILL . I CALLED NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY BECAUSE HAS THE SAME ISSUE AS THE 68,000 VANS THAT WERE REPAIRED. I THINK THE PART IS CALLED SENDER UNIT.

THE ECM (COMPUTER) IS PLACEMENT IS UNDER WINDSHIELD. WHICH OVER TIME ALLOWS WATER TO RUN DOWN INTO THE ECM CAUSING EROSION AND HOLES IN THE HOUSING AND COMPUTER. THEN WATER GETS INTO THE COMPUTER CAUSING IT FAIL COMMUNICATING OR NOT PROPERLY COMMUNICATING WITH THE CAR. THIS PROBLEM THAT NISSAN DOES NOT WANT TO OWN. MY COMPUTER IS DAMAGED DUE TO ITS PLACEMENT AND WATER HITTING OVER TIME. THIS HAS CAUSED THE CAR TO SHAKE AND SEND ERRORS THAT CAUSE THE CYLINDER TO MISS FIRE. I WAS DRIVING AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND FLASHED.

I RECEIVED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON MY QUEST AND THE FUEL GAUGE HAND WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I WOULD FILL IT UP AND THE GAS HAND WOULD GO TO FULL AND THEN AS I WOULD DRIVE IT WOULD DROP DOWN TO EMPTY FOR A WHILE AND BACK TO FULL FOR WHILE AS I WOULD DRIVE. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. I HAD A FUEL PUMP PUT ON BY AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP BUT I TOLD THEM I REPLACED THAT AND THEY THEN STATED IT WAS THE SENDING UNIT, I TOLD THEM MY LOCAL MECHANIC CHECKED THE SENDING UNIT AND HE SAID THAT THE CONNECTIVITY WAS GOOD ON THE SENDING UNIT. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THEN RAN MORE DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID IT WAS DASH THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND NOT THE FUEL PUMP. I HAD THE DASH REPLACED AND THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOW STUCK ON FULL. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER FORUMS WITH PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS I. I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AS A RECALL AS IT SEEMS TO BE AFFECTING A LOT OF PEOPLE.

I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE ELECTRICAL IN MY VAN. THE AIR CONDITIONING HAS BEEN ON WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN WHEN I START THE CAR THE NEXT TIME IT WON'T BE ON. BUT IF I TURN IT OFF IT STARTS BLOWING. ALSO, THE RADIO WILL QUIT WHENEVER IT DECIDES TO. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD LISTENING TO THE RADIO AND IT WILL MAKE A LOUD POP AND THEN A HIGH PITCHED SOUND UNTIL I TURN THE RADIO OFF. IT WON'T WORK AGAIN UNTIL THE CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF A WHILE THEN RESTARTED. I WILL LOOSE ALL THE SETTINGS ON MY RADIO. I AM WORRIED THAT IF THERE IT TROUBLE WITH THAT STUFF WHAT ELSE MIGHT STOP. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE 2008/9(NOT SURE). THE AIR WAS THE PROBLEM THE FIRST. ABOUT THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF THE RADIO HAS BEEN STOPPING MORE AND MORE. I WAS DRIVING FROM PEKIN TO WORK IN PEORIA AND NOTICED THAT I HAD A LITTLE LESS THAN 1/4 TANK OF FUEL SO I FIGURED I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET GAS ON THE WAY HOME. WHEN I CHECKED THE TRIP GAGE IT SAID THAT I HAD 8 MILES TO GO BEFORE I RAN OUT OF GAS. THAT IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE THAN WHAT MY GAS GAUGE SAID. I STOPPED AND GOT GAS IMMEDIATELY AND WHILE DOING SO I NOTICED THAT IT TOOK 17 GALLONS OF GAS. IF IT HAD ACTUALLY HAD A 1/4 TANK IN IT THERE IS NO WAY THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO PUT 17 GALLONS OF GAS IN AN 18 GALLON TANK. I HAVE CALLED MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECOLLECTION OF THIS BEING AN ISSUE. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED BUT I CANNOT REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. SINCE THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING I HAVE BEEN KEEPING TRACK OF MY MILEAGE AND FILLING UP ACCORDING TO MY MILEAGE RECORDS. I HOPE THIS CAN GET FIXED SOON I AM A MOTHER AND THE LAST THING I WOULD WANT TO HAPPEN IS TO GET STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH MY BABY IN THE CAR BECAUSE OF AN ERROR THAT WASN'T MY FAULT.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING AND THE VEHICLE DRIFTED TO A STOP. ALL ATTEMPTS T RESTART THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE GAS GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD APPROXIMATELY 1/3 OF A TANK OF GAS REMAINING. I SPENT JUST A FEW MINUTE SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR PEOPLE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL (2007 NISSAN QUEST). THE SEARCH UNCOVERED LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT FAULTY GAS GAUGES INDICATING IMPROPER FUEL LEVELS. SO I POURED A FEW GALLONS OF GAS INTO THE FUEL SYSTEM AND THE VEHICLE STARTED. I HAVE SINCE HAD THE VEHICLE QUIT RUNNING 2 MORE TIMES UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES. EACH TIME MORE FUEL IS ADDED AND THE VEHICLE STARTS WITH NO TROUBLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ABILITY TO STEER SEIZED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

I BOUGHT A 2007 NISSAN QUEST WITH 138000 MILES AND A FULL TANK OF GAS ACCORDING TO THE ACCORDING TO THE NEEDLE. WITH JUST 130 DRIVEN IN 5 DAYS I LOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES ON A BUSY ROAD. AFTER LEAVING MY CAR AT A MECHANIC SHOP FOR THE WEEKEND I CAME ACROSS MY PAPERWORK WHICH INCLUDED A CAMPAIGN NOTICE REGARDING THE FUEL GAUGE AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO REPLACE ONCE THE PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE AT MY COST TO ME FOR REPAIR. AFTER FINDING OUT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO GAS IN THE VAN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATE THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE WRITTEN NOTICE THAT THEY WILL REPAIR AT NO COST FOR LABOR AND PARTS THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR NOTICE. I MUST NOW PAY OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. *TR

WHILE GETTING ONTO A FREEWAY (DARK/RAINING/PM), THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THIS CAUSED A COMPLETE POWER FAILURE TO THE POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. THIS CREATED A IMMEDIATE HAZARD. ALSO, THIS LEFT MY WIFE AND TWO KIDS STRANDED. THE VEHICLE SHOWED ABOUT A 1/4 TANK OF GAS ON THE DASH AND THE DIGITAL READOUT IN THE CENTER CONSOLE SAID 68 MILES TO EMPTY. I TOWED THE VEHICLE HOME. PRIOR TO DOING DIAGNOSTIC WORK I PUT A GALLON OF GAS IN. THE VEHICLE STARTED RIGHT UP. I FILLED UP THE TANK THINKING MAYBE THE FLOAT/SENSOR MAY HAVE STUCK. AGAIN THE VAN WITHOUT WARNING SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. THIS TIME IT WAS IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED 1/4 TANK AND CENTER CONSOLE COMPUTER READ 66 MILES TO EMPTY. I PLACED 5 GALLONS IN AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE FUEL LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON AND THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THE CAR WILL SHUT DOWN. LOSING POWER BRAKES/STEERING UNEXPECTEDLY CREATES A SERIOUS HAZARD IN ITSELF. I KNOW KEEP THE TANK ABOVE 1/2 BECAUSE BELOW THAT I'M ROLLING THE DICE. LOW FUEL OR RESERVE LIGHT NEVER ILLUMINATED. MY SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AND I CONNECTED MY CAR MD READER TO THE VEHICLE DATA CONNECTION AND RAN THE DIAGNOSTIC ON IT CAME BACK WITH THE FOLLOWING REPORT. I HOPE THIS WILL HELP, STORED CODES ARE CONDITIONS THAT YOUR VEHICLE REPORTED AFTER YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS SET. CARMD USES THESE CODES TO ACCURATELY IDENTIFY A MOST LIKELY REPAIR OR "CURE". WAS DRIVING NEAR MY HOME WHEN THE VEHICLE ENGINE SIMPLY SHUT OFF AND STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET. I WAS TRAVELING ON A STATE ROAD AT APPROX. 50 MPH. I WAS BEGINNING TO START A CURVY HILL AND PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL WITH NO RESPONSE. THERE WAS NO ENGINE REVVING HEARD AND THE TACHOMETER HAD DROPPED TO ZERO AND ALL DASH LIGHTS WERE ON AS IF I HAD JUST TURNED THE KEY TO THE 'ON' POSITION TO START IT. THERE WAS NO LOW FUEL LIGHT AND THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED 1/4 TANK. I TRIED TURNING THE ENGINE OVER, BUT IT WOULDN'T CRANK AS IF IT WAS OUT OF GAS. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO ONE BEHIND ME COMING AROUND THE BLIND CURVE OR ELSE SOMEONE WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED OR WORSE. I PRESSED THE TRIP BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES ON THE DATA DISPLAY AND IT WAS FLASHING ASTERISK AS IF IT WAS OUT OF GAS. I WALKED 2 MILES TO A GAS STATION AND PUT A GALLON OF GAS IN THE TANK AND THE CAR VAN CRANKED RIGHT UP WHICH INDICATED THE VAN WAS OUT OF GAS, BUT THE FUEL GAUGE AND LOW FUEL LIGHT WAS FAULTY. THIS HAS OCCURRED 3 OTHER TIMES WITH MY WIFE DRIVING ALONE. ONCE WAS ON A U.S. HWY. IT APPEARS THERE'S A BAD FUSE OR BAD SENSOR, BUT WE'RE NOT SURE AND I'VE NOT SEEN ANY RECALLS ON THIS. NOW WE JUST HAVE TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE DATA DISPLAY ONCE THE FUEL HITS A HALF TANK. IT'S JUST NOT SOMETHING YOU THINK TO DO WHILE DRIVING. I AT LEAST WISH THE TRIP DISPLAY WOULD POP UP AS A LOW FUEL BACKUP, BUT WHEN YOUR CHILDREN ARE WATCHING A DVD OR THE RADIO IS ON AND YOU'RE CONCENTRATING ON DRIVING YOU DON'T THINK TO PRESS THE TRIP BUTTON TO CHECK THE DTE. I WISH SOMEONE WOULD COME UP WITH A SOLUTION OR SHOW A RECALL. WE ARE DESPERATE AND AFRAID SOMEONE WILL EITHER BE INJURED OR IT WILL DO DAMAGE TO THE VAN. PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL PUMP/SYSTEM HAVE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. ON OR ABOUT 1/6/2013, WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH AND COMING TO A LIGHT, THE CAR TURNED OFF. THE GAUGE SHOWED 1/4 TANK. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND ADDED 1 GALLON OF GAS. NEXT DAY, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT. FUEL LEVEL STILL AT 1/4 TANK. MECHANIC ADDED GAS AND THE CAR STARTED. GAS GAUGE IS INACCURATE AND DANGEROUS. IN FEBRUARY 2013, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AFTER DRIVING/PARKING THE VAN, IT WOULD START AND THEN TURN OFF, START AND THEN TURN OFF. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO RUN BY GIVING IT GAS AS SOON AS IT STARTED. ON 3/13/2013, AFTER DRIVING THE VAN AND PARKING IT, IT WOULD NOT START. IT KEPT CRANKING, BUT NOTHING. MECHANIC FOUND ELECTRICAL PROBLEM IN THE WIRING AND WAS ABLE TO FIX IT. ON 3/28/2013, THE CAR STARTED AND THE FUEL GAUGE DROPPED TO EMPTY WITH SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON. VAN HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS. MECHANIC REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND SAID THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP GROUNDING. ON A NISSAN FORUM I DISCOVERED THE FOLLOWING RECALL: "THE RECALL AFFECTS 2005 - 2008 NISSAN TITAN, ARMADA AND INFINITI QX56S AS WELL AS NISSAN FRONTIER PICKUPS AND PATHFINDER AND XTERRA SUVS PRODUCED BETWEEN JANUARY AND MARCH 2006 AND BETWEEN OCTOBER 2007 AND JANUARY 2008. DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH A SENSOR INSIDE THE FUEL TANK, THE GAUGES CAN SHOW GAS TANKS A QUARTER FULL WHEN THEY ARE IN FACT EMPTY." I THINK THE NISSAN QUEST SHOULD ALSO BE RECALLED BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM WHICH IS ENDEMIC TO THESE CARS. *TR

AT 60000 MILES HAD TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER WHEEL BEARING AND ABS SENSOR IN THE VEHICLE. AT 90000 MILES A KNOCKING SOUND BEGAN TO COME FROM THE ENGINE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED OR IN PARK. MECHANIC ADVISED THIS WAS DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN, WHICH IS A PROBLEM DUE TO THE PLASTIC PARTS THAT NISSAN USES TO HOLD THE TENSION ON THE CHAIN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE AS NUMEROUS COMPLAINANTS HAVE BEEN FILED. CONCERNED THAT NISSAN KNEW IT HAD A BAD COMPONENT AND HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM THAT EXIST. ALSO, NOW THE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARING IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES AROUND 30000. FIXED THE BRAKES WITH OE PARTS, AND THEN BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ROTORS. TECHNICIAN ADVISED THESE PROBLEMS CAME FROM THE ROTORS GETTING HOT. HAD THE ROTORS TURNED WHICH DID NOT WORK. NOW I AM GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE ROTORS ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. WINDOW MOTOR ALSO HAS WENT BAD IN THE VEHICLE. *TR

ON JUNE 23,2007 MY NEW 2007 NISSAN QUEST SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED IN MY GARAGE, TURNED OFF, KEYS NOT EVEN IN THE IGNITION. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO GET THE FIRE OUT BUT NOT BEFORE MY QUEST AND MY GARAGE SUSTAINED DAMAGE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, NEW, AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS "SO WHY ARE YOU CALLING US?". I THEN CALLED THE NISSAN COMPANY WHO AGREED TO DO AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE CAUSE. THEIR CONCLUSION WAS THAT IT STARTED IN THE WIRING TO THE TOW HITCH, WHICH WAS ON THEIR WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND AN ACCESSORY THEY OFFER ON THEIR WEBSITE. THEY THEN CLAIMED THAT THE TOW HITCH WAS NOT PUT ON IN THE FACTORY AND THEREFORE IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND WOULD NOT ASSIST ME ANY FURTHER. THEY DID TELL ME THAT THEY HAD ALREADY SPOKEN WITH THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THAT THEY WERE ALSO CLAIMING THEY DID NOT INSTALL THE HITCH. I EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS ON THERE WHEN I GOT IT SO SOMEONE HAD TO INSTALL IT. THEY AGAIN SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AND NO ONE WILL TAKE MY CALLS NOR RETURN MY MESSAGES. SO I AM STUCK WITH A BURNED UP VAN, RENTAL BILLS, GARAGE REPAIR BILLS AND EVERYONE POINTING THEIR FINGER AT THE OTHER SAYING IT IS NOT MY FAULT. I HAVE INSURANCE ON THE VAN OF COURSE AND COULD JUST SIMPLY HAVE IT FIXED AND PUT IT BACK ON THE ROAD BUT THAT DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM OF WHATEVER DID IN FACT START THE FIRE (THEIR CONCLUSION WAS CERTAINLY CONVENIENT FOR THEM IN THAT IT WAS THE ONE THING NOT INSTALLED IN THE FACTORY) AND SO I WOULD JUST BE PUTTING A POTENTIALLY UNSAFE VEHICLE BACK ON THE ROAD. *TR
