I was driving along at 50 mh and all the sudden drops down to 30 mp and even thought I push peddle to floor it won't go above 40 mh and starts trying to cut off this has happened a few times to me as well as my mom who drove my car. This is a serious safety issue that needs to be addressed ..
MY CAR IS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AS I HAVE HAD CLOSE CALLS FOR BEING IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. I AM SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ANYWHERE BUT I HAVE NO CHOICE AS THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2020 AND HAVE CHILDREN THAT ARE IN THE CAR WITH ME. I HAVE NEVER FEARED FOR OUR SAFETY IN ANY VEHICLE THAT I HAVE OWNED PREVIOUSLY. THE RPM'S ALSO GO HIGH AND SWITCHES GEARS ONLY WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS. THESE ARE PROBLEMS THAT HAVE EVERY TIME THAT I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. AS A SINGLE MOM I'M AT MY WHITT'S END AND NEED THIS PROBLEM FIXED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY.

WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN AND THE CAR ONCE OVER 80 MPH, STOP ACCELERATING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY IN MAJOR TRAFFIC AND DECREASED TO 20 MPH AND STARTING SHAKING AGAIN AND STOPPED. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AND I WAS ALMOST PLOWED BY A SEMI. I CALLED NISSAN BEFORE BECAUSE THIS SAME THING HAPPENED LAST JULY 2018, AND THERE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINTS BY OTHERS. THEY ADVISED I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO NISSAN AND THEY MIGHT ASSIST WITH WHATEVER COULD BE WRONG, BUT THEY MADE IT SEEM AS IF IT WAS NOTHING. ONCE AGAIN THERE WAS NO POWER COMING THROUGH THE CAR, NO SENSOR LIGHTS CAME ON, THE CAR SMELLED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO CATCH FIRE AND IT WOULD ONLY EXCEL AND NOT MOVE BEFORE IT CUT OFF. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT PUSHED OVER ON THE MAIN HIGHWAY.

WAIT ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES, TURN VEHICLE ON, WON'T ACCELERATE AT ALL. WAIT SOME MORE, DRIVES FOR A LITTLE WHILE, THEN HIGH ACCELERATION WITH LOSS OF SPEED AGAIN, THIS TIME NEVER GOING OVER 60 MPH. I'M LUCKY I WAS NOT REAR ENDED ON THE INTERSTATE AND KILLED WITH MY TWO YEAR OLD SON.

WHEN THE CVT TRANSMISSION GETS HOT THE POWER FROM ENGINE TO TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO REDUCE. THIS SAFETY FEATURE LEADS TO MASSIVE FUEL CONSUMPTION AS WELL AS COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS CAUSED MYSELF TO BE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THIS "SAFETY FEATURE" DIDN'T START DOING THIS UNTIL 50 MILES PAST THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. AT FIRST IT WOULD TAKE HOURS OF DRIVING BEFORE THIS WOULD HAPPEN AND IT SEEMS LIKE EACH TIME IT HAPPENED IT TOOK LESS AND LESS DRIVING TIME BEFORE IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. CURRENTLY MY ROGUE IS AROUND 150K MILES AND I CAN'T GO MORE THAN 20 MILES BEFORE IT HAPPENS. I TOOK THE ROGUE INTO SHOPS FOR A FULL TUNE-UP EVERY30K MILES TRYING TO BE SURE IT LAST FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE, SO I KNOW IT ISN'T AN ISSUE OF NEGLECT. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AND ALL I HAVE FOUND ARE THOUSANDS OF OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. SOME OWNERS HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM BEGIN AS EARLY AS THE 10K MARK. SINCE THE INTRODUCTION OF THE CVT TRANSMISSION EVERY VEHICLE IT IS USED IN HAS THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT CAUSES A DEATH FROM PURE NEGLECT ON THEIR PART. I'VE OWNED 4 NISSAN VEHICLES AND LOVED THEM ALL BUT HIS IS THE FIRST ONE I HAD THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT PAST 100K MILES BEFORE HAVING A MAJOR ISSUE.

THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING TO LEXINGTON FROM CHARLESTON AND ABOUT ONE HOUR AND 1/2 THE CAR WOULDN'T GO ANY FASTER AND THEN IT STARTED DROPPING SPEED PRETTY FAST , IT DROPPED ALL THE WAY TO 35 MPH, I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH ME SHE WAS SCARED TO DEATH SOMEONE WAS GOING TO HIT US, I PULLED ONTO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SAT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES STARTED IT BACK UP AND KEPT MY SPEED ABOUT 65MPH, AND IT WAS OKAY. IT JUST HAPPENED THIS WEEKEND WHEN I WAS DRIVING FROM CHARLESTON TO CHARLOTTE, ABOUT 45 MINUTES AWAY THE CAR WOULDNT GO ANY FASTER AND IT STARTED DROPPING SPEED FAST, HAD THE PETAL TO THE FLOOR AND NOTHING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES POPPED THE HOOD IT WAS NOT RUNNING HOT. I THEN PULLED OFF AGAIN TO TRY TO GET TO A GAS STATION AND IT STARTED UP AND THEN ABOUT 2 MINUTES PASSED AND IT WOULDNT GO ANY FASTER, PULLED OFF ON THE EXIT AND BARLEY MADE IT TO THE GAS STATION, THIS TIME I LET IT SIT FOR A GOOD 30 MINUTES OR SO. I THEN GOT BACK ON THE HWY BUT WOULDN'T GO OVER 65MPH AND IT WAS OKAY. THIS IS KNOWN ISSUE AND IT SEEMS LIKE NISSAN IS AWARE BUT THEY ARE DOING NOTHING TO FIX IT.. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO WARNING NO LIGHT COMES ON AND YOU JUST START DROPPING SPEED FAST, SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT OR KILLED THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL IMMEDIATELY!!!

I BOUGHT NISSAN ROGUE 2010 WITH A CLEAN TITLE IN DECEMBER OF 2013. I STARTED HAVING SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR IN THE SPRING OF 2014. I BEGAN HEARING A WHINING SOUND ON ACCELERATION COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING ON LONG ROAD TRIPS. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UP UNTIL A YEAR LATER, WAS SUDDENLY UNABLE TO ACCELERATE WHEN GOING UP HILL OR DRIVING LONGER THAN 20 MILES. THE PEDAL WAS DOWN TO THE FLOOR BUT RATHER THAN PICK UP SPEED, THE VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE AND WAS UNABLE TO REACH EVEN 40 MPH. IT STARTED HAPPENING MORE AND MORE OFTEN, AND I ALMOST GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT SEVERAL TIMES. I WENT TO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND FOUND OUT THAT NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THEIR CVTS AND THAT THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS/120,000 MPH. HOWEVER, THEY WERE REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO WAY TO DUPLICATE IT SINCE IT WOULD TAKE SEVERAL MILES OF DRIVING AROUND TO NOTICE ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE WHINING SOUND AND VIBRATION ARE NORMAL I WAS TOLD. AFTER GOING TO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS MULTIPLE TIMES AND TALKING WITH NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES, IN DECEMBER 2016 I WAS FINALLY TOLD THAT THERE'S NO EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE NISSAN CANCELED MY CAR'S WARRANTY BACK IN 2014 BECAUSE OF A BRANDED TITLE. I CALLED DOL AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS A MISTAKE DONE. THEY FIXED MY TITLE AND THERE'S NO BRAND ON IT. NOW I GOT A CALL FROM A NISSAN CUSTOMER AFFAIR REP MR DARIES WHO INFORMED ME THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON GETTING THE BRAND OFF OF MY TITLE AND IT SHOULD TAKE 4-6 WEEKS BUT THEY ARE TRYING TO EXPEDITE IT. HE PROMISED HE WOULD CALL ME REGULARLY WITH AN UPDATE. IT'S BEEN ALMOST TWO MONTHS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I CALLED SEVERAL TIMES LEAVING VOICEMAIL TO MR DARIES AND NEVER GOT A CALL BACK FROM HIM. I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE LONGER THAN 10 MILES WHEN MY CAR STARTS LOSING ACCELERATION AND HAS THIS HORRIBLE WHINING NOISE.
THIS STARTED HAPPENING RIGHT AFTER THE LAST RECALL FEB 2016. WAS GOING AT 65 MPH LITTLE UPHILL (FROM 1200 FEET TO 2200 FEET) THEN THE SPEED STARTED DROPPING FROM 65MPH TO LESS THAN 30MPH ON A BUSY CALIFORNIA I-15 FREEWAY. I HAD TO PULL THE CAR FROM THE FAR LEFT LANE (5 LANES EACH WAY) TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER WHERE I STOPPED FOR ABOUT 35 MINUTES THEN STARTED THE CAR AGAIN. IT HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES SINCE THEY MESSED UP MY CAR IN THE LAST RECALL. OTHER ISSUE I EXPERIENCED WAS WHEN I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND TRIED TO MOVE, IT BARELY MOVED THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT JUMPED, IT WAS VERY RISKY. I FIND HARD TO BELIEVE NISSAN IS NOT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH THESE MANY COMPLAINTS OF SAME OR VERY SIMILAR PROBLEMS. TODAY, 9/27/16, MY CAR ENGINE CUT OFF WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY, I WAS SUPER LUCKY MY CAR WAS NOT HIT BY A TRUCK, WHICH COULD HAVE ENDED WITH ME BEING KILLED.

YOU PRESS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR NOTHING IS HAPPENING. THE WORST PART IS ALL THIS COME WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS. I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND I WAS SHOCKED THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER AN HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY ARE VEHICLE STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE WE GO FROM 80 TO 60 AND CAR FEELS LIKE IT STRUGGLES WITH THE PEDEL TO THE FLOOR. ALSO WHEN THE AC IS ON AND WE ARE AT A LIGHT THE CAR TRYS TO STALL. AND THE AIRBAGS ARE DEFECTIVE THE AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOESN'T RECOGNIZE ANYONE IN THE SEAT AND THE ONE ON THE DASH JUST BLINKS. I'M AFRAID THEY WON'T DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS THE 2ND TRANSMISSION THAT WE HAVE HAD IN THIS VEHICLE AND IT STARTED GIVING US ISSUES RIGHT AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY COVERAGE. WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT WHEN WE ARE DRIVING ON LONGER, FREEWAY TRIPS THE CAR WILL BEGIN TO DECCELERATE. ONCE THIS HAPPENS IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE PAST 40MPH. THIS IS HAPPENING ON MAJOR INTERSTATES WITH SPEED LIMITS OF 70 MPH OR MORE. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RPMS DROP SHORTLY FOLLOWED BY THE SPEED. EVEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR DOWN TO THE FLOOR WILL NOT GIVE THE VEHICLE ANY MORE SPEED. THIS IS VERY HAZARDOUS, ESPECIALLY WHEN TRAVELLING IN HILLY AREAS AS THE CAR CAN AND DOES SLOW DOWN TO 20 MPH WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. OFTEN TIMES THIS HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE SO WE ARE FORCED TO DRIVE AT DANGEROUSLY SLOW SPEEDS UNTIL WE CAN FIND A PLACE TO SAFELY PULL OVER. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US MANY TIMES, OFTEN WHEN PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE LEFT LANE. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED AT NIGHT AND SINCE WE ARE NOT BRAKING THERE IS NOT INDICATOR TO THE TRAFFIC AROUND US THAT WE ARE SLOWING DOWN SO QUICKLY. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS ON FAMILY VACATIONS SO WE HAVE 2 YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE WITH US. IT TENDS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN IN HOT TEMPERATURES BUT IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 25 DEGREES F. IT HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY WHILE IN MOTION. AS I SAID IT HAS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES BUT MOST RECENTLY OVER SPRING BREAK. IT ALSO HAPPENED MANY TIMES WITH THE 1ST TRANSMISSION WHICH WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 87000 MILES. THE NEW TRANSMISSION HAS ABOUT 75000 MILES ON IT BUT I AM BEING TOLD THAT SINCE THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS OVER 120000 MILES THAT THE CVT IS NO LONGER COVERED EVEN THOUGHT IT ONLY HAS 75000 MILES ON IT.

I LIVE IN ARIZONA, SO TRAVELING FROM PHOENIX TO FLAGSTAFF IS AT AN INCLINE AT PHOENIX IS ROUGHLY 3000 FEET ABOVE SEA LEVEL AND FLAGSTAFF IS 7000. THE INCLINE HAPPENS JUST OVER 140 MILES, SO IT'S QUITE A CLIMB. THE CAR LOSSES ALL ACCELERATION ABILITY ON EACH AND EVERY INCLINE, FORCING ME TO FIND A SHOULDER (IF I CAN), WHERE I HAVE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES BEFORE TRYING AGAIN. MAGICALLY, THE CAR REGAINS SOME ACCELERATION, BUT IT QUICKLY HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS DUE THE THE CLIFF EDGES OR ROCK WALLS THAT LINE THIS ROAD. WHEN I COME TO A ALMOST SUDDEN STOP ON THIS TWO LANE HIGHWAY WHEN I JUST WENT AROUND A BLIND CORNER, THAT MEANS THAT I DON'T HAVE TIME TO ALERT THE CARS BEHIND ME THAT I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE HAD MANY CLOSE ENCOUNTERS LIKE THIS. I HAVE TRIED TO ASK THE DEALERS, MECHANICS AND TALK FORUMS ON THE SITUATION. THOUGH MANY PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS VERY PROBLEM, NOBODY SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. I HAVE RESORTED TO DRIVE IT IN THE CITY AND TAKE AN OLD, BUT MUCH MORE RELIABLE SUBARU FORESTER ON THESE TRIPS INSTEAD. THIS NISSAN HAS BEEN A THORN IN MY SIDE SINCE I PURCHASED IT, BUT I SEEM TO BE STUCK WITH IT. I HAVE TRIED TO CLEAN THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, BUT IT DIDN'T HELP AT ALL. THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE CAN'T EVEN MAKE IT UP AN ICY INCLINE. I HATE THIS CAR.

THEY TOLD ME THE ENCLOSED TRANSMISSION DEVELOPED A LEAK DUE TO CORROSION. THAT CORROSION DAMAGE IS NOT COVERED, AND IT COST $400.00 TO REMOVE THE PART RATHER THAN REPLACE IT. THE CAR HAS A GRINDING VIBRATING SOUND WHEN DRIVING. THE CVT IS KNOWN TO HAVE THIS ISSUE, AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SEALED SO YOU CAN'T CHECK YOUR FLUID LEVEL AND IT IS REQUIRED TO ONLY USE NISSAN MANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE CVT IS TIED INTO A FAIL SAFE MODE THAT CAN BE ACTIVATED BY HIGH TEMPERATURE IN THE ENGINE. A COOLING KIT HAS BEEN RECOMMENDED BUT I HAVE READ MIXED POSTS AS TO THE DEALERSHIPS CHARGING TO PUT IT INTO THE CAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN KNOWN TO TOTALLY LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING IF IT GOES INTO THIS FAIL SAFE MODE OR WHEN THE CVT JUST FAILS COMPLETELY. WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 10YRS/120000 MILES FOR CVT.

LATER IN THE DRIVE-ON A FLAT GROUND GOING 80 MPH CAR LURCHED AND DECELERATED --AS I SAID, THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE; THIS LAST INCIDENT WAS MOST FRUSTRATING AS WE WERE ON A LONG ROAD TRIP AND FEELING VERY UNSAFE.

ABOUT ANOTHER 45 MINUTES LATER, I WAS DRIVING AND TRYING TO MERGE ON 1-95, THE RAMP IS A BIG CURVE SO I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 40 MPH, WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. A TRACTOR TRAILER ALMOST SLAMMED INTO THE BACK BUT LUCKILY I PULLED OFF THE ROAD JUST IN TIME. THIS TIME ME, MY WIFE AND MY DAUGHTER ARE PANNICKED FOR EVERY TWO OR THREE HOURS AND TOOK BREAK FOR 20 MTS FOR EVERY THREE HOURS. I HAD JUST GOTTEN ON TO NORTHBOUND RIGHT-HAND LANE OF THE WHITESTONE BRIDGE IN NY WHEN TRAFFIC STOPPED. THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE WITH THE TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. I STEPPED ON THE GAS, BUT THE RPMS DIDN'T ADVANCE AND THE ENGINE DIDN'T REV UP. THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS AS THIS AREA OF THE BRIDGE IS ON AN INCLINE. I BRAKED, APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, PUT ON FLASHERS AND SHUT THE IGNITION. I CALLED 911 FOR HELP. *TR
