As I am steering, the horn goes off at any moment for a long period of time distracting many drivers and scaring them half to death on the road ! This is an incident that has been going on for a while, and there are many other people that I have came across with the same problem. This is my only car and I have no idea who to turn to, but the amount of money for a Nissan that is in great condition and has never been in an accidents seems to have allot of electrical failures.

CVT transmission. Car seems to lose power when accelerating from a stop or entering traffic. Shudders, shakes seems to go to limp mode. I read up on Nissan CVT issues. Warranty's have been extended on year before mine (2012) and those years after me. Called Nissan Corporate. They said they had few complaints on Rogues. I said are you serious? I've read about plenty of complaints. So why have you extended warrantys? Advised they couldn't help me. First Nissan for me and last. Have never had any transmission issues with my vehicles over the years and I'm 74. Other cars NOTHING major just regular maintenance. Disappointed with Nissan they know they have a major issue with CVT transmissions and don't stand behind their product. My car is sitting in the garage. I'm afraid to drive it and around $5000 to replace transmission. It's a 2012 Nissan Rogue SL. Please look into this issue.

I have a 2012 Nissan Rogue with 84,000 miles and my CVT makes a howling noise when I start up the car. After warming up the car, the howling noise continues onto the local city streets and into the highway, and after a few minutes of driving, the screeching sounds go away. A few weeks later, I brought the car into a local mechanic for an oil change and the mechanic determined that the transmission needs to be replaced. I have maintained the car in optimal care by ensuring maintenance and general repairs are done bi-annually. After discussing this matter with Nissan Corporate, they determined my car warranty has expired and they cannot extend other Nissan Rogue extended warranty for my car. However, the 2003-2010 Nissan vehicles equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) have a 10-year/120,000-mile (whichever comes first) CVT limited warranty extension, according to the Nissan Corporate warranty page. The cost to fix the car is approximately $5,500. The replacement of the transmission and additional normal wear and tear repairs (back rotors and pads) will cost more than the value of the car. Due to the faulty CVT design based on historic reporting on this model, I am very disappointed to learn that the quality and integrity of the transmission for having a car at such a low mileage. I had been lucky to bring the car into a local mechanic just in time before it stopped working. Had the car stopped on the highway, I would have caused a major traffic accident due to the poor quality design of the transmission.

The transmission died while driving on the highway and speed dropped to 20 miles an hour in a matter of a couple of minutes. Nissan has extended the warranty on the transmission for most years except 2011 and 2012 but it is the same transmission in the car. How can Nissan keep using a transmission that is problematic and not cover the repair for all vehicles.

While my 2 daughters(22,17) were driving at highway speed from N.E to Co. the vehicle without warning decelerated and dropped to 35 mph,In a panic she pulled off to the side of the highway and called my wife who googled nissan rogue issues and found that the transmission would overheat and then decelerate to protect its components from further damage without any prior warnings.If you wait awhile and were lucky that the tranny had not failed completely in about a half an hour the vehicle would reset and you would be able to drive it again.My daughters made it home and i started to research the commonly known issue with the C.V.T transmission! 1 week later my wife informed me she has had 4-5 instances where the car will not accelerate and high engine R.P.M.s while being in stop and go traffic or from being stopped at a red light or stop sign.I called Nissan consumer affairs dept.and was told there is nothing they were able to assist with because this car had no recalls and 122,164 miles on it.On Monday 5/31/2021 the car would start but the transmission would not engage,the R.P.M.s would not go above 1000.I contacted Nissan and they told me to bring it to a Nissan dealer for diagnostics.I had the vehicle towed($95.)to Valley Nissan longmont,C0(303-586-4311)Saied told me "the tranny had failed,and there were a few gaskets that needed replaced.$147.for diagnostics and the estimate to repair is $4281.I called Nissan C.C 1(888-388-0318)to report the findings and was again told"I am sorry but there is NOTHING we can help you with.I asked Valley Nissan if they would be able to help out and they offered to help by reducing labor and materials for the replacement and repairs to $3859.54.I cannot at this point afford to make the needed repairs,I am not working currently. Nissan Case# 43974262.The car is registered under my wife Harriet Langer.

ON 7/28 AT APPROXIMATELY 8:45AM, AFTER PICKING MY HUSBAND UP AFTER 6 MONTHS BEING DEPLOYED RESPONDING TO THIS PANDEMIC, WITHOUT WARNING AND/OR NO INDICATION LIGHTS, I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION ON MY 2012 NISSAN ROGUE. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE. AS CARS AND TRACTOR-TRAILERS PASSING BY AT SPEED LIMITS, I HAD TO SLOWLY DRIFT TO GET TO SHOULDER. I HAD ONLY BEEN DRIVING ABOUT AN HOUR. I HAD TO TRY TO NAVIGATE SAFETY ACROSS LANES TO THE SHOULDER EVEN WITH PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR, THE CAR HAD ONLY LESS THAN 5 MILES ACCELERATION. ONCE ON THE SHOULDER, I CUT THE CAR OFF. AFTER ABOUT 40 MINS, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN TO THE NEAREST EXIT WHICH THANKFULLY WAS LESS THAN A .25 AWAY BEFORE THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT INTO GAS STATION. UPON GETTING THE CAR TOWED TO NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE REP TOLD ME THAT THE CVT/TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN A CONCERN FOR ROGUES AS WELL AS OTHER NISAAN CARS AND THAT THEIR DEALERSHIP HAS HAD TO SERVICE THEM. OF COURSE HE WOULD NEED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND SURE ENOUGH DIAGNOSES CAME BACK AS CVT/TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THIS IS HORRIBLE AND A CONSUMER SAFETY CONCERN ISSUE. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS SITUATION. NISSAN NEEDS A RECALL ON THEIR VEHICLES REGARDLESS OF COST- THEY NEED TO BE SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE TO THEIR CONSUMERS. MY SON ALSO HAS A NISSAN ALTIMA AND I AM TERRIFIED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THIS HAPPENING TO HIM. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS WITH THIS VEHICLE. I'M JUST SO UPSET WITH THIS VEHICLE. WHEN YOU DRIVE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR THE TRUCK WON'T GO PAST 70. IT STARTS TO SLOW DOWN AND YOU CAN'T GET ANY SPEED. I WAS GOING TO WV AND IT STARTED MESSING UP I COULDN'T EVEN PULL THE HILL. IT WOULD JUST GO SO SLOW, COULDN'T GET IN ANOTHER LANE. IT WAS SO SCARY THOUGHT I WAS GONNA GET HIT. THE CAR ALWAYS HAS AN WHINNING NOISE WHEN YOUR ON THE ROAD OVER 30 MINUTES. YOU HAVE TO CUT THE TRUCK OFF, LET IT SIT A WHILE TO GET THE SPEED TO COME BACK UP. THE NEXT DAY I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE BEACH AND IT WOULD NOT GO PAST 20MPH. MASH THE GAS TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD JUST MAKE NOISE. OTHER THAN THAT I LIKE THE TRUCK. EVERY TIME I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY ARE TRYING TO CHARGE ME ALMOST 1,000 DOLLARS FOR SOMETHING THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT BEFORE THEY SOLD THESE CARS TO THE CONSUMERS. NISSAN NEED TO RECALL THESE CARS , THEY ARE VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF YOUR ON THE HIGHWAY WITH BABIES IN THE CAR.

I WAS DRIVING FROM FORT WORTH TO ARLINGTON TX ABOUT 35 MILES. WHEN I WOULD TRY TO GIVE IT GAS, THE MOTOR WOULD REV UP AND THE RPM'S WOULD GO UP BUT MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO. I EXITED AT THE NEAREST EXIT WHICH WAS A LOOP AND THEN MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO AT ALL. THIS IS DURING RUSH HOUR (5:45PM) AND AN BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO AT ALL, AN 18 WHEELER THAT WAS BEHIND ME WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP AND IF HE HADN'T SWIRVED AND GONE OFF THE ROAD AND INTO THE GRASS, HE WOULD HAVE HIT THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE WHERE MY 2 KIDS WERE. THIS CAUSED SEVERAL OTHER CARS BEHIND HIM TO ALMOST WRECK . THIS WAS THE 1ST TIME THIS HAPPENED. THEN AGAIN THIS MORNING ON JAN 28TH, 2019 MONDAY MORNING, I DROVE FROM FORT WORTH TO GRAPEVINE TX ABOUT 40 MILES. THE CAR DID THE EXACT SAME THING. HOWEVER THERE WAS NO EXIT AND NO SHOULDER TO PULL OVER AT DUE TO CONSTRUCTION. I WAS ONCE AGAIN ALMOST REAR ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. ONCE AGAIN, I AM GIVING IT GAS AND THE CAR WILL NOT GO AT ALL. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE TRANSMISSION FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ON LINE WITH MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN ROGUE.... THIS IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE.

IT IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS IN THE WINTER IN NEW ENGLAND WHEN MY DEFROST IS SUB-PAR AND IMPEDES VISIBILITY. STATIONARY, 1 YEAR OLD IN REAR OF VEHICLE AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK. THE BUTTON ON THE P/S & D/S UNLOCKED EVERY DOOR EXCEPT FOR THE D/S REAR DOOR. WE TRIED TO USE THE KEYLESS REMOTE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR, THAT FAILED AS WELL. WE ATTEMPTED TO OPEN MANUALLY FROM INSIDE THE REAR AND THE LOCK WOULD NOT GIVE WAY. WE COULD NOT SAFELY REMOVE OUR CHILD FROM THE BACKSEAT. THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR IS STILL LOCKED AND WE CANNOT GET IN OR OUT OF THAT DOOR. ALL OTHER DOORS AND LOCKS FUNCTION NORMALLY AS THEY SHOULD.

VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN RESIDENTIAL GARAGE WITH FLAT TIRE. SCISSORS TYPE JACK HAD NEVER BEEN USED. WHEN I USED THE JACK ON FLAT, STABLE SURFACE AT HARD POINT ON VEHICLE PER OWNER'S MANUAL IT BENT MOMENTS AFTER TAKING WEIGHT. I STEPPED BACK FROM VEHICLE FOR MY OWN SAFETY, JACK BUCKLED, AND CAR FELL. LUCKILY I WAS NOT INJURED AND WHEEL WITH FLAT TIRE WAS STILL ON HUB SO VEHICLE WAS NOT DAMAGED. HOWEVER, WHEN I CONTACTED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE (CASE #26836371) THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE JACK AS THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND HAD NO PROCESS TO ESCALATE THIS SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD BE AFFECTING OTHER OWNERS. A JACK THAT FAILS IMMEDIATELY UPON FIRST USE HAS TO BE DUE TO A DESIGN, MANUFACTURING, OR METALLURGICAL FLAW. ATTACHED PHOTOS SHOW TWISTED JACK AND BENT SCREW ASSEMBLY.

WE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE ACCELERATION ISSUES. AFTER GETTING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY, ANY TIME THAT I HAD TO ACCELERATE UP A HILL OR FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE CAR WOULD STALL, SOMETIMES MOVING AND OTHER TIMES IT WOULD NOT. THIS BECAME DANGEROUS WHEN I WOULD TRY TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON A STOP LIGHT. I TOOK THE CAR TO BE LOOKED AT BY NISSAN WHO EXPLAINED THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD BE OVER $4000. NISSAN HAS HAD RECALLS ON OTHER CVT MODELS BEGINNING WITH THE 2013, AND I BELIEVE THIS MODEL NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST. ADDITIONALLY, MANY TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOPS THAT I CALL CANNOT WORK WITH A CVT TRANSMISSION.

THIS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME WITH MY DAUGHTER AND I NO LONGER FELT SAFE USING THE VEHICLE. I DID A SEARCH ON GOOGLE AND FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHERS WERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WHICH WAS THE RESULT OF THE CVT TRANSMISSION BUT THAT NISSAN WAS MAKING THE CONSUMER PAY TO INSTALL THESE "COOLER KITS". NOT ONLY ARE THESE VEHICLES WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS UNSAFE AND TICKING TIMEBOMBS; IT IS UNFAIR THAT NISSAN IS MAKING THE CONSUMERS RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING AN ISSUE THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF. THE A/C WENT OUT SUDDENLY WITH ONLY 57000 ON THIS 2012 NISSAN ROGUE. MY PREGANT WIFE IS UNABLE TO DRIVE THIS TO WORK AS IT GETS TOO HOT IN THE VEHICLE. THE SHOP QUOTED $1700 TO REPLACE A FAULTY A/C COMPRESSOR. THERE IS A LOT OF ONLINE CHATTER ABOUT MULTIPLE NISSAN VEHICLES HAVING A/C ISSUES MONTH TO A FEW YEARS AFTER DRIVING OFF THE LOT. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. THEY ALREADY HAVE A PART THAT SUPERSEDES THE REPLACEMENT PART THAT CAN BE INSTALLED. THEY OBVIOUSLY REDESIGNED THIS PART FOR A REASON. PLEASE DORAD THIS ON IF THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT AGENCY TO REPORT THIS ISSUE BUT IT SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY PREGNANT WIFE AS SHE CAN'T DRIVE IT TO WORK.

NISSAN REFUSES TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR USING DUNLOP 7000A/S 225/55/18 TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH ARE DANGEROUS IN ANY CONDITION BESIDES DRY ROAD CONDITIONS THESE TIRES ARE INHERENTLY DEFECTIVE ALSO FILED COMPLAINT WITH GOODYEAR TIRE WHICH REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY ISSUES WITH THIS TIRE. 2. THE TRAFFIC FEATURE OF THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. AFTER 20 HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH SIRIUSXM THEY ADVISED ME THIS IS A NISSAN ISSUE. NISSAN ALSO REFUSES TO TAKE ANY ACTION. 3. I HAVE ONLY HAD MY USED. NISSAN ROGUE FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF. I ALWAYS KEEP UP WITH THE MAINTENANCE. I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM AS I WAS DRIVING FROM DALLAS, TX UP TO OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. ABOUT ONE HOUR INTO THE DRIVE UP TO OKLAHOMA, THE SPEED BEGAN TO DROP WITHOUT ANY NOTICE, AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE VIHECHLE WAS NOT OVER HEATING, AND I HAD ORIGINALLY SET THE CRUISE CONTROL AT ABOUT 70 MPH. AS CARS WERE PASSING BY, IT SLOWLY BEGAN TO DECREASE IT'S ACCELERATION. NO MATTER HOW MUCH I STEPPED ON THE GAS IT WOULD NOT GO UP IN SPEED. I WAS NOT EVEN GOING UP HILL AT THIS POINT. THE SPEED LIMIT MUST HAVE BEEN AT ABOUT 70 MPH AND MY ROGUE'S SPEED KEPT DECREASING AND OTHER CARS, AND 18-WHEELERS KEPT PASSING US. TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS ONLY GOING 35 MPH. I HAD TO STOP AND PULL OVER FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND THEN IT BEGAN WORKING NORMAL. I FIRST THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN A ONE TIME THING. NOW AFTER A FEW TRIPS IT HAS BECAME A REAL PROBLEM. I AM GOING TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT BY NISSAN. TODAY ON MY WAY TO WORK (ABOUT A 40 MIN. DRIVE FROM HOME) AS I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY I CAME TO A FULL STOP AT A RED LIGHT, ONCE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN MY CAR WAS STILL ON BUT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL FOR AT LEAST 20 SECONDS. I HAD TO TURN MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON TO LET THE CARS BEHIND ME PASS ME. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED MY USED ROGUE I MADE A DRIVE FROM DALLAS TX, TO NEW ORLEANS, LA. AND I HAD NO PROBLEMS. NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION, AND JUST TWO DAYS AGO I HEARD AA STRANGE RATTLING NOISE. I FINALLY HAVE SOME TIME OFF TOMORROW AND I AM GOING TO GET SOME ANSWERS AND SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN NEEDS TO GET THIS FIXED, THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM!

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. THE CAR STARTED TO DECELERATE FROM ABOUT 68 MPH DOWN TO 40 MPH. I WAS PRESSING THE PEDAL DOWN MORE AND MORE TO TRY AND ACCELERATE BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IT JUST KEPT GOING SLOWER AND SLOWER AS THE MINUTES PASSED BY. SOON I WAS DRIVING SLOWER THAN THE BIG SEMI'S AND I HAD TO PULL TO THE LAST LANE (SLOWEST LANE) BECAUSE I COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH THE REGULAR FLOWING TRAFFIC. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENS TO ME. I HAD THIS PROBLEM LAST YEAR AND NISSAN HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. NOW WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION AND 30,000 MILES INTO IT, THE SAME THING IS BEGINNING TO HAPPEN. I TRULY BELIEVE THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS IN NISSAN ARE DEFECTIVE AND UNRELIABLE. I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR FOR 2 HOURS BEFORE THIS PROBLEM BEGINS. EVERYTHING ON THE PANEL INDICATES THAT THE CAR IS PERFORMING FINE BUT THEN IT GOES INTO THIS "AUTO SHUT OFF" MODE AND THE CAR STOPS PERFORMING CORRECTLY.
