While driving on the interstate and exiting at normal speed, my 2014 Nissan Rogue suddenly lost all propulsion. The engine continued to rev, but the transmission stopped delivering power to the wheels. This happened in active traffic and created an immediate safety hazard, as vehicles behind me had no warning that my car would lose power. After stopping and restarting the engine, the vehicle regained limited movement, but the power no longer matched the RPMs. This indicates internal CVT slip and loss of hydraulic pressure. Shortly after, the check engine light appeared. A diagnostic scan showed a CVT stepper motor fault, a critical component that controls pulley ratio and belt pressure. When this part or the related hydraulic system fails, the transmission cannot maintain pressure, causing slipping, overheating, loss of acceleration, and potential total failure. Many 2014–2016 Rogue owners report the same symptoms: sudden loss of power, delayed engagement, high RPM with no acceleration, and overheating. Transmission specialists consistently point to recurring internal CVT defects, including stepper motor failure, valve body wear, pressure control solenoid issues, and breakdown of the hydraulic system that maintains belt tension. These are not normal wear items but indicators of a systemic design flaw. Nissan has long been aware of widespread CVT problems. Earlier models using the same CVT design received warranty extensions due to high failure rates. Numerous Technical Service Bulletins address CVT slip, judder, overheating, and stepper motor issues. Despite this, Nissan denies responsibility for the 2014 Rogue. My dealer stated the only fix is complete transmission replacement costing thousands of dollars, with no goodwill assistance offered. This failure presents a serious safety risk. Losing propulsion without warning on a highway or while merging can easily lead to a collision. This is part of a repeat pattern of CVT failures, and I request NHTSA investigation.

The vehicle enters 'limp mode' without any warning indicators (dash lights or chimes) and it's not immediately clear why the vehicle does so or that the vehicle is, in fact, in limp mode. This has happened several times with the most recent case (October 18th) being extremely dangerous. I was highway driving in the Colorado mountains with limited exits available and speed limits that far exceeded my maximum 'limp mode' speed while traveling up hill. In addition to all the trucking traffic and hills, this created an extremely dangerous scenario. I read online that the poor design/manufacture of these Rogues caused them to be potentially prone to overheating, but that poor design shouldn't have precluded warning indicators (at the very least) and potentially a recall. The ambient temps on that Saturday were in the 40-50 degree range. Hardly highway driving conditions that you'd even guess an overheat would happen to 'highway-worthy' vehicle. I felt unsafe between the much faster traveling and accelerating traffic and had to exit the highway as soon as practical for my safety and the safety of other motorists. I have reported this to Boulder Nissan & Nissan Corporate and they speciously/dubiously told me that I need a new transmission (which effectively totals this vehicle).

While driving down the interstate, as I exited my vehicle lost power. It would rev up but no movement. I turned the car off and restarted, now the car will drive but the power output to the wheels does not match rpm's. Check engine light came on, went to AutoZone and ran diagnostics and the code says stepper motor on cvt transmission. Started checking it out, the dealer says only transmission replacement will fix it.

The vehicle was experiencing judder on two recent occasions. The vehicle was just over 90K miles and due for a CVT fluid inspection. After experiencing brief but violent jerks/judders while operating between 1,500 and 2,000 rpms, I took the vehicle into the Nissan dealership for said fluid inspection/change. The dealership declined to perform the requested service that day and instead recommended I 'Replace transmission and install transmission cooler' due to a "P0744" code read from the vehicle's ODB. The vehicle's tachometer would bounce when the vehicle was experiencing the issue. What's particularly concerning is that the vehicle has received the regularly suggested maintenance and shows no warning lights on the dash. I researched the P0744 code for the 2014 Rogue and found the NHTSA published service bulletin related to this problem. I'm quite concerned that the dealership didn't offer this investigation as a primary option. The steps detailed in this bulletin: [XXX] are surely less expensive than the transmission replacement recommended. It concerns me that Nissan is skipping prudent and more cost-effective diagnostic steps seemingly due to their tacit acknowledgement that these CVTs were poorly built- hence the extended powertrain warranty that was offered to settle the class action lawsuit. It appears that poor/self-serving advice continues to be given to Nissan customers rather than acknowledge the design flaws of the 2014-18 Nissan Rogue CVTs. There has been an issue with CVT on this transmission for many years. My vehicle has had this happen 3 times now. When I’ve contacted my dealership they always tell me there’s no recall etc! When traveling on a highway in warm weather….the rpm goes way up and you can not accelerate. When you pull off and shut the vehicle off and start it again. It will work fine. I just read that Nissan had put a “governor “ on the transmission as a safety feature. And this was the suggestion to pull off and shut vehicle down for 10 minutes as this “resets” it! I was not made aware of this malfunction! When I called Nissan today the agent told me there was an extended warranty on my vehicle but it expired January 2022! There is ABSOLUTELY no warning this will happen. I was ahead of a truck in I-88 when all of a sudden my vehicle was slowing down and I was not able to accelerate and had to pull off on a unsafe part of the highway!

The CVT Transmission in my 2014 Nissan Rogue was replaced by Nissan in 2018 at 30K miles. Now 52K the CVT Transmission has malfunctioned once again. Nissan has a Class Action Lawsuit on this issue. Nissan is refusing to pay to have this CVT replaced even though they know it is a failed and potentially unsafe system. I am now passed the time limits of the original new warranty, but not passed the mileage limits. The vehicle can be available for inspection. The problem began a few months ago when the vehicle stalled (lost all power) at least three times on the freeway and/or side streets. The vehicle totally lost all power. I had to slowly drift to the side of the highway and then the vehicle restarted. On the side street the vehicle stalled, and I put the vehicle in park and then the vehicle started up again. A few weeks ago, the engine light came on which prompted me to take the vehicle to the Nissan dealer for inspection. They could not reproduce the issue but, told me I needed another CVT transmission due to Code P1740.

about 2 years ago (2021) both me and my wife's my nissan cvt transmission went out and needed repair. In my case the transmission overheated, losing power while driving 80mph almost leaving me and my family stranded on the highway while coming back from trip late at night. Took car to dealership where they diagnosed transmission had overheated. After contacting manufacturer Nissan they offered to repair the transmission. Now today [XXX] I took my car in again because the transmission seems to not switching gears as it should. To which After diagnostic and road tests the dealer advise I needed a new transmission which will cost at minimum $5000! This is the same dealership the transmission was supposedly "repaired" 2 years ago. After further research on my own I found out nissan vehicles has had a history of transmission issues with its cvt transmission. In both instances there could have been an accident. Why weren't nissan owners made aware of their faulty transmissions? Attached is a document I found while doing research showing they were aware of their transmission issues and chose not to make its customers aware. By paying out settlements. The document shows vehicles up to model year 2010. However me and my wife's vehicles was model year 2014. Bought the same time and had transmission issues around the same time! This is not a coincidence. Its a pattern. So I'm sure there are other later model years that may have same issues but Nissan is reluctant to admit that. Something needs to be done! When my daughter was driving down the interstate, with a 65 mph speed limit, the car started slowing down. It would not allow her to go any faster than 40 mph. She pulled over to let the engine cool some and continued to have the problem. When we consulted the Nissan dealer, they said it was a “safety mechanism” to keep the car from overheating. I certainly don’t see how it is safe to be forced to drive a speed limit too slow for the interstate. Why is this not recalled? I see there are many more complaints with the same issue.

My transmission failed. There was a recall on the transmission, that I am not sure I received. Nissan Consumer Affairs opened a case but will not assist me with the cost of the transmission. I have to pay 5621.00 to have a new transmission installed. Nissan admitted had a faulty part in the 2014-2017 Rogues - the CVT. The transmission was slipping and it could have led to an accident, but did not. The vehicle was inspected by the Nissan dealership and they are installing a new transmission. Is there anything you can do to assist me. Thanks

The CVT transmission lost power, deceleratted on highway causing significant loss of speed. Nissan knows of this manufacturing defect and fails to help. Driving these vehicles put occupants and others on the road at great risk. Nissan should replace these transmission free of charge to the customer.

The vehicle has a CVT issue that causes the error code P17F1. The vehicle has 143K plus mileage as a result Nissan doesn't was to fix it. The car stalls while in motion and has to be stopped and restarted presenting a huge safety concern. The sad part is Nissan knows about this quality issue and there was no recall to fix it. Now they are using the high mileage as the reason to not fix the problem. On 10/2/2022, while the following traffic, the car stalled and nearly cause a pill up if the driver behind me wasn't smart enough to divert quickly to another lane. Please I need help.

Hi, I have issue reported from Nissan dealer for my Nissan Rogue 2014 model -first owner. It just did 56487 miles and I have done regular servicing maintenance for oil changes as per standards. Despite all this ,on (13th Aug 2022) the issue started I noticed lurching,jerk and stalls whenever I stop at intersection or comes to sudden halt with warning in dashboard. I have to put the gear to Park mode and switch on the car again and it starts with slight jerk and able to drive . as such there are no warning lights when car is started. Just happened 2-3 times and I had to let it at dealer for diagnostics on (15th Aug 2022) the dealer said my transmission is defective and has issues and out of warranty since they consider only 1st 7 yrs and I am at a loss to replace transmission and problem was reported for one more timing solenoid problem .i was told one of the 3 solenoid is also having problem. it happened even while i come at slow speeds and merge at Highway too. This is dangerous to drive when such things happen . I am not happy with the car hardly 7 yrs and coming to halt to give a big expense for such a brand car and puts safety of passengers on risk in just around 50K mileage range.

Water leaks in the car, navigation not working, seats wobbling, problems with the CVT, etc. And the service of the manufacturer and dealer is very bad, I am very dissatisfied.

In August 2021, my CVT transmission went out while traveling out of state. The vehicle was only 6 years old and had just recently reached 100,000 miles. There was no prior warning that would have alerted me to this issue, and the vehicle was checked out before taking the road trip. After having to tow the vehicle to a repair shop, I had to get a rebuilt CVT transmission from Nissan which took over a month. My family and I had to fly back home and were without a vehicle for over a month. In May 2022, while on another road trip, my vehicle stopped accelerating, the check engine light came on, and wouldn't shift. After turning off the vehicle for a while, it started shifting again. On July 3, 2022, the same issue happened again. I will have to take the "new" CVT transmission in again for a transmission issue.

I was driving on the highway on my way to work when the check engine light came on in my car. I was pressing my foot on the pedal and trying to accelerate but my car wasn't gaining any speed. It got to the point where I started to lose speed and had to pull over on the side of the highway. When i was pressing on the pedal i heard a pumping like sound but the rpms were not going up at all and the car wasn't moving. Going in reverse did not work either. I waited around 20 minutes for the car to cool down and I was then able to drive at low speed to work. No one but me has looked at the car so far.

When operating the vehicle under normal conditions the rear drive shaft cracked suddenly. The car began to shake and the smell of burning lubricant became noticeable. There was no impact that caused the crack.

The contact stated upon picking up the vehicle and driving 40 MPH, the vehicle decelerated inadvertently and stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving however, the failure reoccurred increasingly while driving. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and failed to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to another local Pep Boys where it was diagnosed that there was corrosion around the battery and the uncleaned engine oil caused the mechanical failure. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

2014 Nissan Rogue 103,600 miles, was running errands on my lunch break, made first stop and as I was pulling forward to a stop sign, vehicle lurched forward, hard jerk like motion, felt as if I was rear ended. Drove vehicle a mile further, stopped the vehicle turned off the engine went into a store, upon return vehicle started immediately, however upon putting the vehicle in drive or reverse, vehicle immediately stalled. Attempted same action a few times, same result. Check engine light would illuminate when vehicle would stall. No prior warnings, no prior issues. Vehicle towed to dealer, dealer advises torque converter issue, and a new transmission will be needed. Thank you Nissan, after years of battery drain issues and replacing the battery several times in few years & no resolve to that, this is what I get, can't say I'm surprised. Lets not forget the 2016 recall for the fuel pump issue that left me in my vehicle stalled out several times in rush hour traffic, unable to move the vehicle, & that was after the recall was "taken care of". Have read many horror stories now, and I'm convinced Nissan is selling junk to everyone, and they know it. The class actions are doing nothing to keep them from selling faulty vehicles. They were forced to stand behind their product for up to 120K miles up to year 2013 but after 2013 they're forced into a not so generous 84K miles extension. They claim their vehicles last up to 180K miles, but won't stand behind that claim. BOGUS! Will never buy another Nissan again!

When accelerating usually around 25 to 35 mph the transmission will fail and start jerking loosing all power. Have to let off and try again several times and is super dangerous. Has caused me to swerve to get out of intersection and tear up front clip of the car.

I took my Nissan rouge in September 2021 to a mechanic to check my car. I explained I was driving to From Tampa to Orlando in the i-4 and I could. Or accelerate, the car speed stayed at 40 mph speed , and not going more than that. I had to pull over because my car was almost wanting to shut off. Very scary situation. After my mechanic checked my vehicle, he advised me that my transmission was faulty and that I should not drive it far distance as I did. The worst part is that my Nissan never gave me any warning of the issue. My mechanic gave me a price of over $3000,which I could not afford. Now I have a car that has a bad transmission and no money to fix it.

Vehicle while on expressway would loose power on and off. This cause for serious accident conditions. Transmission yellow warning light appeared on next day. Had vehicle towed to dealership and they confirmed there was an issue found extreme hesitstion entering gear or changing gear. From multiple codes P0841 fluided press sen/sw A. P17F0 CVT Judder. Also, found front sway bar link loose and replaced. And, Tie rods had to be replaced also because of being loose. Previously I also had to have the control arms replace twice. This is unacceptable. Beside that my vehicle was in shop from 8/9/2021 thru 8/26/202. without even to have rental car provided. except for 2 days.

Vehicle will not accelerate or shift even though the gas pedal is pushed all the way to the floor . Almost been hit multiple times because of this issue. Comes with no warning the car will drive fine and then randomly the rpms go all the way up and will not accelerate or shift. Tried taking it to multiple mechanics and the problem can’t be fixed except by replacing the transmission.

I HAVE A 2014 NISSAN ROGUE SELECT WITH 72,000 MILES. IT SHUDDERS/JERKS INTERMITTENTLY DURING IDLE AT DRIVE MODE EVEN WHEN AC AND FAN ARE OFF. I DO NOT KNOW EXACTLY HOW FAR I AM FROM TRANSMISSION FAILURE. EARLIER THE CAR HAD A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AT 38000 MILES AND IT WAS REPLACED UNDER THE NISSAN WARRANTY. TODAY I WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY FOUND THAT THE CV AXLE OF THE RIGHT FRONT IS DAMAGED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE RPM WENT UP TO 4,000 AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. AT SLOWER SPEEDS, THERE IS A SHUDDER OR VIBRATION AND A LACK OF POWER/ACCELERATION. AN INSPECTION BY A TRANSMISSION SHOP INDICATED CVT TRANSMISSION FAILURE. RESEARCH INDICATES A LONG HISTORY OF NISSAN CVT PROBLEMS. THE COST TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION IS $4,000.

DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HER 2014 ROGUE WITH 64,000 MILES ON IT TO COLLEGE OVER 800 MILES AWAY WHEN IT KEPT JOLTING AND CAUSING A RISE IN THE RPMS. CAR WOULD DECELERATE FROM 65 MPH TO 40 MPH WHILE GOING UP AND DOWN HILLS OR TRYING TO PASS SEMIS ON THE HIGHWAY. FINALLY HAD TO DRIVE 40 MPH TO THE NEAREST TOWN WITH A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND LEAVE VEHICLE THERE AND GET A RENTAL CAR TO DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY TO COLLEGE. NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED AND SAID SHE NEEDS AN ENTIRELY NEW TRANSMISSION AT ONLY 64K MILES. THIS IS APPARENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSIONS, AND NOT JUST ON THE SENTRA AND VERSA. NISSAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ACROSS THE BOARD YET HAVE FAILED TO RECALL AND/OR EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON ALL MODELS WITH THE SAME CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES. MY DAUGHTER COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. NOW WE ARE FORCED TO PAY $4200 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION OR LEAVE HER STRANDED AT COLLEGE WITHOUT A VEHICLE.

THIS HAPPENED ON 3 OCCASIONS BEFORE I TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. WHILE DRIVING (TWICE ON THE FREEWAY AND ONCE ON SURFACE STREETS) THE THE CAR BEGAN TO ABRUPTLY LOOSE/DECREASE SPEED DESPITE MY ATTEMPT AT MAINTAINING SPEED BY ACCELERATING, THE CAR'S RPM METER BEGAN ACTING ERRATICALLY, AND THE ENGINE BEGAN MAKING A SOUND AS IF STRUGGLING. IN ALL CASES I HAD TO PUT ON MY HAZARDS, MOVE OVER/PULL OVER AND I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF IN HOPES THAT IT WOULD "RESET." WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALER I WAS TOLD MY TRANSMISSION WAS OVERHEATING REPEATEDLY AND FAILING INTO A SAFE MODE. THEY SAID THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE NISSAN CVT (ROGUES) AND REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM UNLESS A TRANSMISSION COOLER SYSTEM WAS ADDED TO FIX THE ISSUE. I WAS TOLD A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN EXISTED AS IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT WE WERE NEVER MADE AWARE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. INSTEAD OF NISSAN PROACTIVELY LETTING CUSTOMERS KNOW THIS SO THAT WE COULD FIX IT OR ISSUE A RECALL TO PREVENT UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS THEY JUST IGNORED IT. I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WHICH I DID AND SPOKE WITH A WOMAN NAMED "LAURA" WHO AGREED TO PAY FOR A PORTION OF THE REPAIR (70%) BUT WOULD NOT SEND ANYTHING IN WRITING, GIVE ME HER LAST NAME OR DOCUMENT THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND SAFETY HAZARD. SHE STATED THAT THEY WERE AT NO OBLIGATION TO EITHER BE PROACTIVE OR COVER THE FULL COST OF THE ADDITIONAL COOLING SYSTEM AS THERE WAS NO RECALL IN PLACE.

ON OCTOBER 29TH MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY VEHICLE HAS QUICKLY BEGAN TO BUCK AND FEEL LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL. MOST NOTICEABLE OCCURRENCES WERE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WARM AND/OR DRIVING FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. VEHICLE THEN SHUDDERED/SHAKE WHEN ACCELERATING. RPM LEVEL WOULD FLUCTUATE BETWEEN 4K-5K RMPS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE.WOULD NOT SHIFT UP OR DOWNWARD AS DESIGNED.WOULD RANDOMLY DOWNSHIFT CAUSING A FORWARD JERKING.MOST NOTICEABLE JERK/SHUDDERING WAS BETWEEN 40-40MPH.LOSS OF OR LIMITED POWER WHEN TRAVELING UP HILL.SPEED WOULD BE LIMITED TO 60 MPH. ON MAY 19, 2019 REVERSE WOULD NOT ENGAGE UNLESS THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR SOME TIME, ENOUGH TO COOL DOWN.NEUTRAL WOULD NOT BE PRESENT EITHER.THERE WAS NO DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN DRIVE/LOW/NEUTRAL. MAY 20 BROUGHT TO NISSAN DEALER THEY ADVISED CVT REPLACEMENT NEEDED. MAY 21 AND MAY 22 CVT DID NOT ENGAGE, VEHICLE STOPPED PROCEEDING WHILE ON HIGHWAY. TURNED VEHICLE OFF FOR 15 MINUTES. TURNED ON AND WAS ABLE TO PROCEED. STILL SHUDDERED AND JERKED WHEN SHIFTING. STARTED VEHICLE AFTER PARKING PLACED IN DRIVE WITH NO MOVEMENT. TURNED OFF THEN ON PLACED IN DRIVE WAS ABLE TO PROCEED. VEHICLE LIMITED TO 40 MPH, LOST POWER TO CVT UNABLE TO MOVE. STOPPED FOR 45 MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO PLACE INTO DRIVE. DROVE FOR APPROXIMATELY HALF MILE, LOST POWER WHILE TRAVELING UP HILL AND ROLLED BACKWARDS LUCKILY INTO A DRIVEWAY WITHOUT BEING STRUCK BY OTHER VEHICLES. NEUTRAL DID NOT EXIST. VEHICLE TOWED 5/22/19. COMPLAINTS MADE TO NISSAN 5/23/19. WAS ADVISED 5/24 THEY WOULD ONLY COVER 70% ALTHOUGH THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM WITH THEIR CVTS.

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR TO WORK, THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SLIPPING OUT OF HEAR. THE SPEED WILL DECREASE AS I CAN'T ACCELERATE. THE RPM'S SHOOT UP BUT THE CAR WILL GO NOWHERE. IT HAS HAPPENED AND BOTH HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS BUT NORMALLY AFTER THE CAR ENGINE IS WARM. SOMETIMES WHEN IT HAPPENS, AFTER 10-15 SECONDS, THE GEAR WILL GO BACK TO DRIVE ON IT'S OWN AND I CAN CONTINUE ON MY WAY. LATELY, AS IT'S GOTTEN WORSE, THE CAR WILL COME TO A DEAD STOP (AS I CAN'T ACCELERATE) AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT I CAN DO TO GET IT BACK INTO GEAR. I HAVE TRIED TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF, PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL OR LOW AND IT CAN TAKE UP TO 20 MINUTES BEFORE I CAN GET THE VEHICLE DRIVING PROPERTY. AFTER RESEARCH, IT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE HOWEVER AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM TWICE, THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. THEY STATE IT HASN'T HAPPENED DURING THEIR TEST DRIVE AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND THEY ARE RELEASING THE CAR TO ME. EVEN AFTER MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS AND ASKING THEM TO PERFORM OTHER TESTS- THEY WON'T. THEY HAVE ONLY RUN DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE TESTS AND DID A SHORT TEST DRIVE (EVEN THOUGH THEY LIED AND TOLD ME IT WAS LONGER). AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE HOME YESTERDAY- IT HAPPENED TO ME TWICE TODAY. THIS IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.

SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE IN THE SUMMER OF 2016, I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES. THE VEHICLE, AFTER DRIVING IT FOR VARIOUS LENGTHS OF TIME, SLOWS AND APPEARS TO LOSE POWER. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED, THE VEHICLE DOES NOTHING. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO COAST BUT WILL NOT INCREASE IN SPEED. IT HAS SLOWED DOWN TO 45 MPH ON A BUSY INTERSTATE (WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 75 MPH) BEFORE AND WILL ONLY INCREASE IN SPEED AFTER A DECLINE IN ELEVATION (PROBABLY DUE TO MOMENTUM). THE CAR WILL NOT INCREASE SPEED EVEN IF THE OVERDRIVE IS TURNED OFF. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WILL BE PRESSED TO THE MAXIMUM AND THE CAR WILL NOT INCREASE IN SPEED. THE REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE (RPMS), WILL NOT INCREASE EITHER WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED. ALL THIS HAS OCCURRED ON HIGHWAYS WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS INCREASED AND AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR (SOMETIMES AFTER LONGER). WHEN I TAKE THE CAR OFF A HIGHWAY AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THERE IS A DELAY ONCE I TRY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WILL MOVE SLOWLY AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AND THEN INCREASES SPEED VERY QUICKLY. WHEN DRIVING ON A BUSY INTERSTATE, THIS BECOMES A SAFETY CONCERN. I CANNOT ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WHEN I WANT TO AND THE VEHICLE WILL INCREASE AND DECREASE IN SPEED WITHOUT MY CONTROL.

THEY ARE SAYING THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR, HOSES SOME OTHER STUFF AND THE TRANSMISSION. THEY ESTIMATED IT AT THIS TIME AT $6000. AT AROUND 60,000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION STARTED ACTING UP. I WAS DRIVING ON A HILLY HIGHWAY AND MY CAR LOST SPEED AND WAS HAVING TROUBLE ACCELERATING BACK UP TO THE SPEED LIMIT. WHILE PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL THE RPM WOULD INCREASE AND THE CAR WOULD MAKE A LOUD NOISE AS IF IT WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE BUT IT WOULD NOT PICK UP SPEED. WHEN I GOT OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT THE CAR WOULD BARELY MOVE AFTER STOPPING AT THE STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEN. IT NOW HAPPENS IF I DRIVE THE CAR FOR LONGER THAN 25 MINUTES, LESS TIME IF I'M USING THE AC OR HEAT. AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF FOR A FEW HOURS IT WORKS NORMALLY AGAIN AS LONG AS I'M ONLY GOING SHORT DISTANCES. DURING THE ACCELERATION ISSUES YOU CAN SMELL TRANSMISSION FLUID. IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN AND I HAD ONLY GONE 20 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY.

NO RESPONSE FROM SPORT BUTTON OR OVER DRIVE BUTTON. AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATIONS. BOTH VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS IF POWER AND ACCELERATION WOULD HAVE BEEN NEEDED.

I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND MAGICALLY NORMAL FORWARD DRIVING RESUMED. DIAGNOSTICS SHOWED NO ISSUES. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER (8 MILES AWAY) AS THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG AS WELL AS POSSIBLY HONORING THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY (60,000 - I'M AT 62,000!). ON THE DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP I LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE BRIEFLY. LUCKILY, I TOOK THE SIDE STREETS AS WAS ABLE TO PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC. THE DEALER STILL HAS MY CAR AND IS NOT FINDING ANY ISSUES. THEY CLAIMED THEY DROVE IT EXTENSIVELY TO SEE IF THE ISSUE COULD BE REPLICATED. ALTHOUGH MY ODOMETER SHOWED THEY DROVE IT ABOUT 10 MILES TOTAL. THEY WANTED TO RETURN IT TO ME BUT I INSISTED THEY KEEP IT ANOTHER DAY AND DRIVE IT. SO, THAT'S WHERE I'M AT. IF THEY DON'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, I'M LEFT WITH A CAR THAT I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH MY WIFE OR TWO KIDS (AGE 6 AND 8). WE'RE HEADED ON VACATION THIS WEEKEND (180 MILES AWAY) AND I'M GOING TO HAVE TO RENT A CAR.

MY HUSBAND ATTEMPTED TO GIVE THE CAR MORE GAS, BUT WITH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, HE NARROWLY MANGED TO GET US ACROSS THE LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING HIT. WE WERE ALMOST REAR ENDED SEVERAL TIMES, AND ATTEMPTING TO CROSS THE LANES OF THE HIGHWAY WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. ONCE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, HE CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS A VISIBLE OR NOTICEABLE REASON THE CAR ACTED THIS WAY AND CHECKED ALL FLUIDS- INCLUDING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. AFTER CHECKING EVERYTHING HE COULD, WE RESUMED TRAVEL, WITH THE CAR BEING A BIT SLUGGISH THEN RESUMING TRAVEL AS NORMAL. WE LOOKED ONLINE TO SEE IF OTHERS HAD THIS PROBLEM, AND READ THAT OLDER NISSANS HAD A REPLACEMENT RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSIONS- BUT NOT THE NEWER ONE. THIS EVEN HAS TERRIFIED ME, OUR DAUGHTER AND MY HUSBAND WITH HOW DANGEROUS A SITUATION WE WERE PUT IN DUE TO THE DEFECT OF THE TRANSMISSION.

ROGUE WAS PICKED UP FROM FENTON NISSAN ON 7/3/2017 AND ON 7/5/2017 THE ROGUE LOST POWER AND THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING AND MY WIFE WAS STRANDED 40 MILES FROM HOME. ROGUE WAS TOWED TO FENTON NISSAN AND UPON INVESTIGATION FOUND THAT AN UNAUTHORIZED PART WAS USED IN THE TRANSMISSION COOLER BY CARRIAGE NISSAN AND ALL THE TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT. A NEW TRANSMISSION COOLER WAS INSTALLED FREE OF CHARGE.(WE PAID $680 FOR THE FIRST DEFECTIVE COOLER) DURING THE TIME THAT THE ROGUE WAS AT FENTON NISSAN COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS TEST WAS PERFORMED PRIOR TO RELEASING THE ROGUE TO US AND NO CODES SHOWED UP. LESS THAN A WEEK LATER THE ROGUE STARTING ACTING UP AND ONCE AGAIN TOOK IT BACK TO FENTON NISSAN AND WAS INFORMED IT WOULD COST $3000+ TO REPLACE THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS, NISSAN HAS AGREED TO PAY 50% OF THE COST. I FEEL THAT UNAUTHORIZED PART CAUSED UNDUE STRESS NOT ONLY ON THE TRANSMISSION COOLER, TRANSMISSION, AND ENGINE BUT ALSO THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS AS A RESULT OF ALL THE POWER SURGES. THERE HAVE BEEN OVER 468,000 RECALLS FOR NISSAN FOR ELECTRICAL HARNESS FAILURE FROM 2008-2013 AND ALSO SOME 2014 NISSAN ROGUES. MY ROGUE VIN NUMBER DOESN'T SHOW UP ON THE RECALL LIST BUT IT SAFE TO ASSUME THAT SINCE THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FROM 2008-2013 AND SOME OF 2014 THEN WHY COULDN'T EFFECT MY VEHICLE.

WHILE UP AND DOWN HILLS, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH ACCELERATION. MY RPM'S WILL SHOOT UP VERY HIGH, BUT CAN NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES NOW, AND ONE TIME WAS VERY DANGEROUS. I WAS COMING OFF THE INTERSTATE (DOWNHILL) AND WENT TO CROSS ONTO THE HIGHWAY, I WAS THEN ALMOST HIT (WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR) BECAUSE MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I MADE IT ACROSS, TURNED MY CAR OFF THEN ON AND IT SEEMED FINE AFTER THAT. IN A SITUATION WHERE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN PLENTY OF TIME TO CROSS, I WAS ALMOST HIT. THAT WAS ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO, BUT JUST THIS MORNING I WAS GOING UP A VERY SMALL HILL (INTERSTATE RAMPS ARE STEEPER THAN THE ONE THIS HAPPENED ON), MY SUV JUST WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. AGAIN, I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN MY SUV OFF AND THEN BACK ON FOR IT TO WORK AGAIN.

2014 ROGUE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WE LOST ALL POWER IN AN INSTANT. THIS IS NOT SAFE WITHOUT WARNING.IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS, THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS BY NISSAN FOR THIS PROBLEM ON EARLIER MODELS, BUT THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE 2014 MODELS AS WELL.AS OTHERS HAVE MENTIONED, THESE TRANSMISSIONS ARE A KNOWN ISSUE IN NISSANS AND IN MOST CASES, YOU WILL NOT HAVE AN ISSUE UNTIL YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR WARRANTY. NISSAN HAS ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY (110,000 MILES) ON ALL MODELS THROUGH 2010, BUT NOTHING ON THE 2014 ROGUE. MY CAR WAS AT 93,000 AND 2 YEARS OLD, SO NOW I AM STUCK FOR CLOSE TO $4500 TO GET IT REPAIRED.

WIFE COMING HOME AFTER DROPPING DAUGHTER OFF FROM SCHOOL, CAR FELT JERKY AND UNSTABLE, PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND ENGINE DIED. I THEN STARTED VEHICLE, SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, VEHICLE DIED. TRIED AGAIN AND IT STARTED, BUT HAD LOTS OF HESITATION, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, THEY HAD IT FOR 3 WORKING DAYS AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ERROR AND NO ERROR CODE, SO THEY SENT THE VEHICLE BACK TO US. NEXT DAY WIFE WENT TO PICK UP DAUGHTER FROM SCHOOL AND WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT, CAR DIED AND THEY WERE ALMOST STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE WHO WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEED. COULD START THE CAR, BUT COULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR WITHOUT CAR DYING. ONCE AGAIN, NO TROUBLE/ERROR CODES WERE BEING FIRED OFF. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP WHERE AGAIN THEY TRIED FOR 2 DAYS TO GET THE CAR TO ACT UP, UNTIL FINALLY IT ACTED UP ON THE FREEWAY WHERE IT ALMOST DIED THERE. THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS A FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER, WHICH REQUIRES A FULL TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE ONLY IS 3 YEARS OLD, WITH ONLY 75,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, THE CAR CUTS OUT WITH LITTLE WARNING AT LOW SPEEDS, MEANING ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO MAKE TURNS AND ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC. ADDITIONALLY, NO ERROR CODES WERE THROWN AT ALL, AND TOOK 6 WORKING DAYS AT A DEALERSHIP TO DETERMINE THE ISSUE. FURTHERMORE, IT IS SPORADIC AND CANNOT BE DIAGNOSED EASILY OR QUICKLY, SUGGESTING THAT THERE IS A HIGH POTENTIAL FOR THIS ISSUE TO OCCUR WITH OTHER VEHICLES AND THEY WILL BE SENT BACK OUT ON THE ROAD WITHOUT HAVING THE ISSUE FIX, PLACING PEOPLE IN SIGNIFICANT DANGER. THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR OF THE REDESIGN OF THE ROGUE AND ONE OF THE FIRST SOLD IN TEXAS, BUT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THERE IS NO WAY TO EASILY DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AND HOW THE FAILURE OCCURS. ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICES WERE PERFORMED AT NISSAN DEALERSHIPS FOR THE TRANSMISSION AS WELL AT 30K AND 60K.

WE HAVE HAD ISSUES ON TWO OCCASIONS WITH THE CAR DYING WHILE IN MOTION. THE 1ST INSTANCE MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE IN THE CAR, WHEN MY WIFE HAD MADE A TURN ONTO A MAIN HIGHWAY, AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. SHE CALLED ME TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT . I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET THE CAR GOING. IT WOULD START, BUT ONCE I PUT THE CAR IN GEAR IT WOULD SHUT OFF. AT THIS POINT WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE IT AND HAD US PICK IT UP. A FEW MONTHS LATER WE WERE IN TOWN SHOPPING AND THE CAR DIED TWICE TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR GOING AGAIN, ONLY TO HAVE IT SHUT OFF AGAIN WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. I GOT THE CAR STARTED AND MADE IT BACK HOME, BUT IT KEPT SHUDDERING DURING ACCELERATION. IT WAS ALSO MAKING FUNNY NOISES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING MONDAY MORNING AND SHOWED THE TECH WHAT IT WAS DOING. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO SAME THING NO OR POOR ACCELERATION WHILE STEPPING ON GAS WHILE AT INTERSECTIONS OR IN MOVING TRAFFIC. I PICKED IT UP FROM WORK AND DRIVE HOME WITH NO PROBLEM. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL ADDITION DAYS BUT NOT HAS BAD. VEHICLE SHAKES AND MAKES REVVING NOISES WHILE DRIVING. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY WIFE CALLS SAYS SHE IS STUCK ON HIGHWAY. CHASSIS CONTROL SYSTEM ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ON DASH DISPLAY ALONG WITH OTHER LIGHTS LIKE ENGINE LIGHT. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NISSAN DEALER FOR INSPECTION. BEGINNING TO THINK I PURCHASED A PIECE OF JUNK. AFTER READING SEVERAL POST REGARDING SIMILAR ISSUE AND NO RESOLVE FROM NISSAN I AM A LITTLE WORRIED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US A FEW TIMES PUTTING MY FAMILY AND I, IN DANGER OF BEING REAR ENDED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE LOSS OF POWER HAPPENING IN THE VEHICLE, FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK AS WE TRAVELED FROM UTAH UP PARLEYS CANYON, WE HAD A LOSS OF SPEED TWICE IN THIS CANYON. ONCE AT HALF-WAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND AGAIN NEAR THE CREST OF THE MOUNTAIN IN VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC ALMOST BEING REAR-ENDED BY A SEMI. AGAIN THE VERY SAME DAY TWO MORE TIMES AS WE PASSED THROUGH HEAVY TRAFFIC IN WYOMING AND AGAIN AS WE PASSED BACK THROUGH UTAH IN THE FLAMING GORGE AREA. ALL AREAS WITH STEEP TERRAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND AS I READ ALL THESE COMPLAINTS THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER. FOR A NEW VEHICLE WITH BARELY 30,000 MILES ON IT, THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AND IS A SERIOUS DEFECT. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE TO HAVE THIS HAPPENING. I JUST HOPE IT DOESN'T TAKE A LOSS OF LIFE BEFORE THIS IS RECALLED AND FIXED FOR GOOD.

TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE I WAS STUCK ON A MOUNTAIN ON A 95 DEGREE DAY WITH NO CELL PHONE SERVICE. THE VEHICLE HAS 28,000 MILES CURRENTLY. THIS FIRST TIME IS HAPPENED IT HAD 9,000 MILES. THERE IS A LAWSUIT FOR 2013-14 PATHFINDERS BUT THE ROGUES SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR VEHICLES UNFIT FOR OPERATION. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO HAVE A VEHICLE TRAVELING AT 70MPH LOSE ACCELERATION CAPABILITIES AND STOP MOVING FORWARD. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AND DROVE OFF OF THE ROAD. I'VE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB AS WELL AS THE CORPORATION AND REQUESTED TO BE ABLE TO RETURN THE VEHICLE WITH NO FURTHER COSTS. THIS REQUEST WAS DENIED SO I AM FORCED TO OWN A VEHICLE THAT IS UNSAFE AND THE COMPANY REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. THERE WERE NO FATALITIES THIS TIME BUT I CAN'T SAY THE SAME FOR MY NEXT DRIVE TO THE STORE. MANY PEOPLE HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS ON THESE MODELS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO ENSURE SAFETY.

NISSAN IS COVERING-UP A VERY SERIOUS AND ON-GOING PROBLEM WITH ITS CVT TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT A 2014 NISSAN ROGUE NEW IN MAY 2014. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 70,700 MILES ON IT. AFTER ONLY 24 MONTHS, THE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED AND, ACCORDING TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIPS, I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $4,000. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IMPLIED (BUT WOULD NOT STATE DIRECTLY) THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH NISSAN'S CVT TRANSMISSION WHICH HAS BEEN ON-GOING FOR 10+ YEARS. HOWEVER, MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I MUST PAY FOR THE NEW TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT FAIL AFTER 24 MONTHS. NISSAN SHOULD ADDRESS THE SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH ITS CVT TRANSMISSIONS AND EXTEND ITS WARRANTY FOR CVT TRANSMISSIONS AS IT DID IN 2010 FOR NISSAN VEHICLES IN MODEL YEARS 2003 TO 2010.

WHEN THE CAR IS AT A COMPLETE STOP AND YOU TRANSITION FROM THE BRAKE TO THE GAS, THE CAR DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY RESPOND. IT IS AS IF YOU ARE NOT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AT ALL. YOU CAN PRESS IT ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE CAR WILL RESPOND. WHEN IT STARTS TO OCCUR, IT IS CONSISTENT WITH OCCURRING EVERY TIME THE CAR COMES TO A STOP. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY OTHER ISSUES WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN OR ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE THE LIGHT HAS TURNED GREEN AND MY CAR WILL NOT IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON 9/15, ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER THIS STARTED. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS MIGHT BE DUE TO THE FUEL PUMP RECALL. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND DROVE THE CAR WITHOUT EXPERIENCING ANY ISSUES. AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE DEALER THAT AFTERNOON, THE ISSUE PRESENTED ITSELF AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD TO BRING THE CAR BACK THE FOLLOWING MORNING. THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR 3 DAYS. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE AT THE DEALER WHILE CONNECTED TO A COMPUTER. THEY SPOKE TO NISSAN ENGINEERING AND SENT THEM THE FILES. NISSAN ENGINEERING DIDN'T KNOW THE CAUSE AND SAID TO "DRIVE IT UNTIL IT GETS WORSE". MY CAR WAS ALMOST AT THE END OF THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY. THEY REPLACED A BRAKE SENSOR TO SEE IF THAT WORKED. I PICKED UP THE CAR AND BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING WEEK WHEN THE ISSUE PRESENTED ITSELF AGAIN. THEY RECORDED MORE DATA TO SEND TO NISSAN. AGAIN, THEY REQUESTED MORE DATA FROM ME YESTERDAY. WHILE IN THE CAR WITH THE TECHNICIAN RECORDING THE ISSUE, MY CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE OVER 20 MPH WHILE REVVING THE ENGINE. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.

MY ROGUE WAS MANUFACTURED 3/3/2014. NISSAN US 1 KNOWS NOTHING OF THIS RECALL. WE WERE TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED UPON PICK 3/27/2014. UNFORTUNATELY, THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND REPRESENTS A VERY SIGNIFICANT DANGER TO OPERATION. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM BUT WHEN IT OCCURS THE CAR SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED. THIS COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. WE LIVE IN A SUBDIVISION FOR WHICH THE EXIT REQUIRES US TO CROSS US 1. IMAGINE IF THE CAR DECIDED TO FAIL TO ACCELERATE ACROSS US 1 AND MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE STRUCK BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC! THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I PARKED MY WIFE'S NEW 2014 NISSAN ROGUE IN OUR GARAGE WHICH IS A FLAT SURFACE. WE STARTED TO EXIT THE CAR TO REMOVE OUR BABY FROM THE BACK SEAT. THE VEHICLE BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS AND WOULD HAVE COMPLETELY ROLLED OUT OF THE GARAGE IF I DID NOT PRESS THE BRAKE. I STARTED THE ENGINE AND PULLED IT BACK IN THE GARAGE, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND IT BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS AGAIN. LUCKILY, THE VEHICLE DID NOT ROLL BACK IN OUR PREVIOUS PARKING SPOT OR IT WOULD HAVE ENDED UP IN THE WOODS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED ME YESTERDAY AND STATED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE RELIABILITY, SAFETY, AND VALUE OF THIS CAR. WHILE SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, THE TOP PART OF THE GEAR SHIFT AND THE CHROME "STEM" LIFTED OFF. I PUSHED DOWN TO PUT IT BACK AND THE BUTTON TO ENGAGE THE GEAR SHIFT AND MOVE TO DIFFERENT GEARS WAS STUCK IN. THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE FROM NEUTRAL OR DRIVE AND WHEN I PARKED THE VEHICLE, I HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. *JS

ON MAY 10, 2014, I PARKED MY 2014 NISSAN ROGUE IN MY GARAGE. I PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND GOT OUT WENT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE TO GET MY BAG ON PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. I RAN TO BACK OF CAR TO STOP IT. LUCKY FOR ME I WASN'T BEHIND THE CAR WHEN IT STARTED TO ROLL BACK. I STOPPED IT ENOUGH BEFORE IT HIT THE DECLINE IN MY DRIVEWAY AND RAN TO DRIVERS SIDE AND JUMPED IN AND HIT BRAKE. MOVED CAR BACK INTO GARAGE AND PUT BLOCKS BEHIND THE TIRES. AT THAT POINT, I THOUGHT IT WAS A ONE TIME EVENT. APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR LATER I RAN AN ERRAND, PUT CAR IN PARK (ON LEVEL GROUND), GOT OUT OF CAR AND IT STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO NISSAN DEALER AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND UNTIL THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED APPROXIMATELY HALF WAY. THE VEHICLE WOULD THEN RAPIDLY ACCELERATE FOR SIXTY SECONDS BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL FUNCTION. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DEFECT WAS ONLY PRESENT AFTER THE ENGINE WAS WARM AND THE DEFECT WOULD RECUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
