It has been going on for years, when I am outside the car - the open drivers side door closes by itself and locks by itself. It does t matter where I am parked. Even on level surfaces the door does this. This can be problematic if the driver is locked out as a result of this. Hot weather is here We don’t want someone locked out or a child locked in. As I say, this has been going on for years. The latest incident was last night. I have formed the habit of holding my key ring in my hand when I exit my car. Again, this habit saved me last night.

I’ve taken my car for inspection and was told to NOT drive my car. The “trailing/trilling Arms” have failed and my rear end is about to fall off. I just replaced the transmission last year and this. I’m [XXX] and can not afford these charges ($1300)for a 10 year old car, that’s garage kept. What is going on with this year/model? I will never trust a Nissan again. Power shifter locks in park when trying to change it to drive or reverse . I found a recall campaign bulletin for shift selector knob for January 2, 2016 . I took my vehicle to a Nissan dealer and I was told they could not honor it . I would have to pay . Reference for recall is NTB16-004 .

While driving the vehicle a burning smell became present. I pulled over into the nearest parking lot. Smoke started to come out of the engine compartment and increased over a short period of time. Fire flames came through the hood of the car. I called 911 and the fire department had to put out the flames. The car got towed and is sitting in a tow yard pending an insurance inspection. My safety was at risk because the car was engulfed in flames. Not sure if this problem has been reproduced, but I have seen reports of similar Nissan vehicles catching on fire in a similar manner. There were no warning signs that there was an issue with the car and I kept the maintenance of the car up to date. Dashcam installed in car captured me pulling over, the car begin to smoke and flames coming up from the hood.

The system failure that I keep experiencing is regarding the ignition. When I turn my car off and try to lock the ignition, my key gets stuck and will not release. I have to turn the car back on and off a few times for it to finally release. No warning messages appear and it happened out of nowhere. I thought it might be the key itself, but I do not think that is the problem. I used my addition key fob that I never use to see if the same problem would occur and it did.

The AC does not work intermittently. When the AC is on, it will blow cold air and then all of a sudden, warm air comes out. Then it may work again and then it will blow warm air. This is a safety concern in Texas when the temperature is very hot outside. This has happened ever since I bought the car in 2015.

This vehicle will fail to accelerate after stopping at stop sign/ red light or in stop/ go traffic. if i hit the gas pedal it won't actually move for seconds and then it will jolt forward. This becomes very dangerous and scary when pulling out onto busy roads. The RPM will start going up while driving for no reason and the car is not actually accelerating. this will happen while driving down the road randomly and the only thing i can do is pull over and shut car off for a minute. i have brough to dealership (a few years ago but they cannot recreate it so i have no options) this has been happening for several years at all different times and always randomly

My heater was broken, and taken to 3 different mechanics who could not find the problem without dismantling the dashboard.. While waiting for the dealer to take my car in, my windshield froze and I could not see while driving. I needed to repeatedly pull over and manually wipe it clear. The dealer now says that it is a problem with an interior part stripping that controls the heat and has occurred on other cars of the same make and model. There should be a national recall and the cost of repairs should fall on the manufacturer.

Heating system blows cold air on drivers side. Vehicle taken to mechanic system flushed and blend door actuator replaced, problem still persists. Unknown, car not available for inspection. The car spontaneously caught fire and exploded while it was being driven in a public parking lot. Unknown. There were no warning lamps or indicators the entire duration of the car catching on fire and exploding.

As part of NHTSA Campaign Number 23V093000, Nissan provided an interim remedy by inserting a fastener into the key slot of the jackknife key on July 21, 2023. After this interim remedy, key blade could not be folded back into the key fob. Another notice was received from Nissan recently which stated that they have a permanent remedy for this which is to insert a spacer into the key slot. As with the interim remedy, the permanent remedy will also prevent the key blade from being folded back into the key fob. In addition, the letter from Nissan states that any keys that are not repaired will be deactivated. Carrying a key with an open key blade in the pant pocket is causing skin irritation and there is a possibility of injury as well. If I decide to get the keys repaired as required by Nissan, then it I have to deal with the skin irritation and possibility of injury. If I decide to not get the keys repaired, then Nissan will deactivate my keys effectively locking me out of own car that is fully paid off.

The driver side heat blows cold air and won't defrost properly not to mention I am old and can't survive the winters without heat. I live in upstate NY where we get tons of snow, white out conditions etc etc. Our first snowfall was 11/1/23 yesterday and I was wiping my window because I couldn't see anything and had an emergency that I had to go to and went in the other lane because I couldn't see. Thankfully I realized at the last second by looking out my drivers side window. I looked this up and there was another complaint about the same thing and the reported cost was $3300.00 which I don't have because we live paycheck to paycheck. I love my Nissan Rogue and was going to continue buying Nissan vehicles until this happened and now I'm scared to death to even drive it. I will not purchase another one if this can't be fixed. I will probably end up trading it in. I can't afford to fix it or drive it since I don't want to crash.

This has been happening for about 2 years now. When I come to stops such as stop signs ,red lights , or intersections when I go to accelerate it has a major delay which has been very scary especially at intersections and sometimes afterwards the rpm shoots up but car is not accelerating. I brought to dealership and they said no codes are coming up so they didn't know. I feel like I could die in this car someday.

There was a voluntary recall of 2014-2016 Rogue rear lift gate stay. The local Nissan dealership and Nissan both noted my 2015 Rogue was not included in the recall even though my rear lift is also broken and manufactured in the same time frame. The rear lift does not stay up making use of the trunk very dangerous. It has the potential to cause a head or other bodily injury. There were and are no warning lights indicating it is broken. The issue first occurred a few weeks ago and I have been trying to get it fixed since. The issue was confirmed yesterday by an independent service center.

I was getting ready to load groceries in the back of my 2015 Nissan Rogue as I have done many times and lifted the lift gate. I let go because the gate always stays up on it's own but this time it came crashing back down with major force and hit me in the head. I was stunned to say the least and have a huge lump on my head. The lift gate is not staying up now. This model only opens from the lift gate release on the door (not on the key Fob). I am hurt but this could have been so much worse. I saw a recall # online for this issue - recall # 16V219000, but was told there isn't a recall of this type on my vehicle.

Air bag light will not go out. Had it “repaired” twice by Nissan dealership in past 2 years. Light again on and will not go out. I saw a couple of recalls pertaining to air bag sensors (16V911000, 16V244000, 22V024000) but was told these do not apply to my VIN. Also, since August 1, 2023, the rear hatch back door will not stay up and came down unexpectedly on my head. I saw there was a recall for my year car for the hatch issue (recall #16V219000) and notified Nissan on 8/8 but I was told my VIN is not part of that recall either. This hatch is a very real hazard as it will not stay up for loading and unloading items. I feel both of the air bag light and the hatch pose ongoing hazards if not remedied. Having these two items addressed and repaired at Nissan’s expense is desirable since my vehicle is within the recall years and is exhibiting the issues noted in the recalls. Your helping in getting this to Nissan’s attention would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My sunroof gets clogged and the water back up onto the sunroof frame. The sunroof seal is fine, but the water on the frame is not fine. When you move the car sometimes the water spills out on the driver and/or passenger. There are significant water marks on my car ceiling from the water standing. My passenger side floor and rear passenger side floor are both wet and hard to get dried from the water leak.

I tried to update the Navigation SD card on this 2015 Nissan Rogue through the official website (www.Navigation.com) and am told that due to technical issues this vehicles navigation cannot be updated. I feel that this is a safety issue as these maps are at least 8 years old and if followed in unknown areas can lead to accidents. Would like to see this resolved by forcing Nissan to address this problem.

I was driving at approximately 25mph in a subdivision and my car turned off. I pulled over immediately to try to crank it but it would not crank. I noticed smoke coming from the engine so I exited the vehicle with my child. The smoke got way worse within a few minutes and then the front engine was engulfed in flames.

I first started noticing this transmission acceleration problem about a year ago when my vehicle has been in stop-and-go traffic for at least 30 minutes or more, the transmission feels like it is going to stall. Pressing on the gas won’t accelerate the vehicle or it is very slow to start moving no matter how hard the gas pedal is pressed. The rpm speeds to 4-5 x1000 but the transmission gear feels stuck at 40mph max. Usually I have noticed that if I am able to pull over and stop the car for a few minutes, I can restart the car engine and didn’t’t see signs of the problem again. My husband believes it’s a transmission and gear shift problem that once the Rogue has been in stop-and-go traffic the system isn’t shifting gears correctly. It put myself and my husband at risk since we took the vehicle on a road trip, my husband finally witnessed this happening. It usually only happened to me when I’m coming home sitting in traffic. When I got off the freeway to surface streets, being stuck at stoplights or stop signs had this issue occur a couple of times. I took my vehicle to my local Nissan dealer for inspection but the tech. said they couldn’t mimic/reproduce the problem/issue I was reporting. No other inspection has been made. And no warning lights came on during the problem the few times it has happened. The engine was really loud this most recent time because I was unable to stop and pullover right away. I am open to having my vehicle inspected further for this issue.

I started noticing about 1.5 years ago that the HVAC system was not working properly. The driver's side will not heat or cool properly. I researched this issue online and NUMEROUS Nissan Rogue owners between 2014-2018 all experienced the same issue. A few posted fixes and I tried all of them but none worked. I should mention I bought this 2015 Nissan Rogue in 2020 and it only had 26,000 miles. It still only has about 42,000 miles. Nissan Consumer Affairs told me to get a diagnosis from a Nissan dealership - the fix is a complete replacement of the HVAC system at the cost of $3000 which I don't have. Nissan Consumer Affairs refused to compensate for any part of the fix. At first I though well, I can deal with it and just use blankets to keep warm in the winter. The dangerous situation happened when I was driving during a recent California rain storm (which we hadn't had in a few years). I was on the freeway when the front windshield fogged up and since the HVAC controls the defrosting ability the car was unable to defrost the front windshield. I suddenly had 0 visibility while driving on the freeway and I almost crashed! I had to very carefully pull all the way over without the ability to see. I told Nissan Consumer Affairs about this and they still refuse to deal with the situation. It's a very common problem (if you research it online) and should be part of a Nissan recall before someone dies in a crash.

The heat does not work. I live in Illinois and the heater/defrost is essential for safely operating the vehicle. With no defrost, my visibility is impaired and it is not safe to drive. When we had our first cold snap a few weeks ago (Nov 2022) I turned on the heater but only cold air blew out. If I had needed to defrost the windows it would not have worked and I would not have felt safe driving. The Nissan service department said it is the heater core case/HVAC and needs to be completely replaced. This is a factory defect and Nissan should issue a recall. There have been several complaints about this problem.

No heating on drivers side. During winter cannot clear windshield for driving. Consider this a safety hazard as we cannot see clearly enough when driving vehicle in inclement or cold weather. Took to mechanic who advised it was a “bend door actuator” that needed replacement. Once he got involved, it turns out to be a stripped plastic gear in the heater box. To replace the heater box, the entire dashboard has to be removed which is unheard of on a 2015 car that has not hit 60k in miles. Bought this new, and car has been garaged and properly maintained since purchase.

I would like to know when the remedy will be ready for NHTSA RECALL 22V-024. I called Nissan today and was told they didn't have a date. They escalated my concern about driving a vehicle that a fire could start in and where would I be if that happened. It is not possible for me to not drive as I commute 40 minutes to work. Will Nissan replace my vehicle if it catches fire? The recall notification said the fix would be available Spring 2022. This was far from an inexpensive vehicle and I am not currently in a position to not drive it or have it catch fire.

The cvt transmission died at 98,000 miles. Stalled I’m the middle of driving. Nissan extended the manufacture warranty to 84,000 to cover the cvt replacement but the transmissions are going out after this mileage.

Outside Temperature Sensor indicates -40'F. This causes the AC to blow hot air even when set to 60'F during the summer. It may cause driver or passenger to overheat. AC problems on 2015 Rogues are the most common problem. Cost to replace AC Auto Amp. is approximately $900.

Air conditioning stopped working causing the windshield to fog up and limit visibility. Defroster is ineffective without air conditioning. Systemic air conditioning problems exist in 2015 and 2016 Nissan Rogues. Countless vehicles have been brought to dealerships for repairs that don't fix the problem. Nissan acknowledges the problem but does not provide a bulletin to dealerships on how to correct the problem. This is a dangerous flaw.

As I was driving on the highway, my vehicle stopped driving forward and operating as if it was in neutral. My vehicle started rolling backwards on the road so I turned into the shoulder. I turned my car on and off to see if it would correct and it did not. Now, the Nissan dealership is replacing the entire transmission.

The windshield wiper recoil off has s leak and it drips into the blower for the heater and freezes. When this happens, the heater does not work at all. This causes visibility issues as the defrost/heater will stop working while you’re driving.

My car vibrates while idling when either air conditioner or heat is on (but only when the car is idling; waiting for light to change and not when moving. When my car was under warranty I reported this to my Nissan service repair mechanic when car was under warranty and was told that was normal. I purchased a car in 2016 and now in 2022 it is still happening. Just need to make sure I’m safe and that car won’t blow up or something. Thank you .

Had brakes checked because of grinding noise..break pads or still new.He said rotors have pits all over them and that's where noise is coming from. Doesn't exactly know reason for it. I never experienced this with any other vehicles I've had before.

The transmission started to fail at 70,000 miles. I am now getting a full replacement at 90,000. I have owned the car the entire time and have been adamant about changing transmission fluid and oil. At 75,000 miles my transmission started to slip at 75 MPH, slowing me down to 30 MPH on a highway. A snowplow almost rear ended me and there was no where I could go as it was a blizzard. Since and before, it has jerked pretty hard, shutting in traffic and while driving highway speeds. It is ridiculous and dangerous to have this as issue in a relatively new car. It should be illegal to sell defective cars and Nissan needs to be held accountable.

I was driving on the highway with my one year old child and with no warning lights my transmission stopped working the rpms were going out of control and I couldn't drive the car. We were lucky to get out of that situation safely. I contacted Nissan about the transmission codes recall and asked if it would be covered they said yes. I went in with the vehicle and they told.me the transmission would need to be replaced. The car is in perfect condition and shouldn't have these issues. Specially with NO warning. Nissan has tip toed around this issue with me. I did my research and posted to social media to find out SO many more have had this exact issue in older and newer models and Nissan has refused to take responsibility for there faulty CVT transmission. They are still putting them in vehicles leaving it to the consumer to fix. These transmissions need to be recalled before more families are effected by this. I have been back and forth with corporate Nissan for a week now and they are telling me in order to SEE if I qualify for financial assistance Nissan will need to diagnose and fix the car and It is not guaranteed they will help with costs. Instead of fixing the problem they are making me jump through hoops. They KNOW about this issue as the complaints on the BBB are constant and consistent with my situation. Please take my incident into consideration and stop Nissan from producing death trap family vehicles.

While driving on I-95, my Nissan Rogue Select 2015 was cruising at the speed limit of 70 mph when, all of a sudden, the speed had begun to drop to 65-50 mph. I pressed the gas pedal to accelerate, but the car wouldn't go past 65mph. Over a period of time, I began to hear a strange high pitch whining sound. Later, the speed had dropped as low as 40 mph, I switched lanes, and stopped on the shoulder of the highway. As I parked my car, I smelled the odor of the transmission fluid. As I parked, I began to read up about the transmission issue on the owner's manual as well as online. I later found out that the transmission, CVT transmission, had entered a mode called, "limp-mode" wherein the car limits the speed to a safe driving speed (this case it was 65mph) in order to prevent a transmission overheat. Not to mention, I noticed that my Rogue dashboard shows an air bag light flashing, something that happened recently. My family and I almost got into an accident with the transmission on limp mode. A recent bulletin from Nissan stated the issue with the CVT transmission. We had gone to Valvoline and they said that the transmission needed a tune-up. No lamps or indicators showed that the transmission was in limp-mode. The only lamp that was flashing was for the air bag ( there was a recall about that.)

ON MULTIPLE OCCURRANCES BEGINNING 5/28/20 WHEN DRIVING OR IDLING ON A HOT DAY WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING OPERATING IN EXCESS OF 40 MINUTES, THE BLOWER REMAINS OPERATIONAL BUT THE AIR FLOW TO THE CABIN SLOWLY REDUCES AND THE TEMPERATURE INCREASES TO A POINT AT WHICH IT EXCEEDS THE EXTERIOR AIR IN BOTH TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO BREATHE FOR ALL OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. IT ALSO SOMETIMES CAUSES A FILM OF CONDENSATION TO APPEAR ON THE INTERIOR SURFACE OF THE WINDOWS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SAFELY NAVIGATE. THIS FILM CANNOT BE REMOVED WITH THE WIPERS BECAUSE IT IS NOT EXTERIOR. THIS HAS OCCURRED MOSTLY DURING THE DAYTIME BUT OCCASSIONALLY AT NIGHT, MOSTLY WHILE MOVING BUT OCCASIONALLY WHILE PARKED. THE DEALERSHIP AND INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE (LIKELY DUE TO INSUFFICIENT DRIVE TIME). THE ISSUE APPEARS TO RESOLVE AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF FOR SEVERAL (NO LESS THAN 30) MINUTES. THE CABIN AIR FILTER HAS BEEN REPLACED AND THE AREA CLEANED OF DEBRIS WITH NO APPRECIABLE CHANGE IN THE ISSUE.

WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR 2 YEARS AGO, THE AC WENT OUT THE DAY AFTER WE PURCHASED IT. THE DEALER FINALLY GOT IT FIXED AFTER ABOUT 3 MONTHS OF TRYING DIFFERENT THINGS. LAST MONTH IT WENT OUT AGAIN. THEY REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR UNDER WARRANTY; I PAID LABOR AND FOR A NEW AC BELT. NOW IT IS OUT AGAIN AFTER LESS THAN 6 WEEKS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME BECAUSE I CANNOT DRIVE WITH WINDOWS DOWN. THE LAST TIME I TRIED THAT, A YELLOWJACKET FLEW IN AND STUNG ME, RESULTING IN A TRIP TO THE HOSPITAL. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE FROM OTHER ROGUE OWNERS, AND I HOPE THAT YOU WILL MAKE NISSAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FAULTY AC IN 2015 AND 2016 ROGUES. THE DATE BELOW IS THE DATE OF THE MOST RECENT TIME THE AC FAILED.

RADIO STOPPED, NO WARNING LIGHTS, ALL ELECTRICAL SEEMED TO DIE, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES SEEMED ALL TO BE GONE. NO DASH LIGHTS ARE ON. THE CAR STARTED UP AFTER TRYING 3 TIMES WITHOUT RESULTS. IT HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE IN A SIMILAR SITUATION THAT I WROTE OFF AS A FLUKE. NOW I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT.

THIS MODEL HAS A WIDELY KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE MOONROOF LEAKING/CLOGGING DUE TO A POOR DESIGN. I NOTIFIED NISSAN OF AMERICA OF THE ISSUE ON SEPTEMBER 27TH AND THEY MENTIONED THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR CAMPAIGNS HOWEVER I SEE SEVERAL REPORTS OF THE SAME POWER FAILURE ISSUE ONLINE. LOCAL NISSAN DEALER HAS HAD THE CAR SINCE OCTOBER 5TH AND CANNOT DUPLICATE ISSUE OR FIND CODES INDICATING WHAT COULD CAUSE THE POWER FAILURE. THIS IS A VEY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NISSAN SHOULD KNOW WHAT COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO COMPLETELY POWER OFF AND ALL CONTROL IS LOSS BRIEFLY WHILE DRIVING. NISSAN ROGUE 2015 - SUNROOF/MOONROOF SHATTERED SUDDENLY. WE WERE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 65MPH; THE WEATHER WAS SUNNY, APPROX. LOW 80'S. NOTHING WAS IRREGULAR ABOUT THE FEEL OF THE CAR, WE WERE NOT DRIVING UNDER AN OVERPASS, OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD WERE NOT ULTRA-CLOSE TO US, AND WE DIDN'T DRIVE OVER ANY OBJECTS, THEN SUDDENLY, WE HEARD A LOUD BANG OUT OF NOWHERE WHICH HARSHLY STARTLED US AND GOT OUR HEARTS POUNDING. AFTER REALIZING THE CAR WAS STILL OPERATING NORMALLY (IE: NO FLAT TIRE, NO STEAM FROM THE ENGINE, NO WARNING LIGHTS ETC.) WE WERE LUCKY I DIDN'T SWERVE AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AFTER THE THUNDEROUS BANG AND/OR THAT THE GLASS DIDN'T DANGEROUSLY CASCADE ON TOP OF US WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A MAJOR MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY ISSUE AND DEFECT. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES AROUND US ON THE ROAD, SO WE WERE ALL EXTREMELY TERRIFIED. THE CAR HAD BECOME VERY LOUD AT THAT POINT, AND WE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE FOUND THAT THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF HAD COMBUSTED, LITERALLY SPONTANEOUSLY. IT WAS COMPLETELY WRECKED AND FOR NO REASON AT ALL. WE TOOK IT TO A SMALL SERVICE STATION AS SOON AS WE COULD, BUT WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF SMALL TOWNS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ALL THEY WERE ABLE TO DO WAS ALLOW US TO VACUUM UP THE GLASS. A FEW OF US HAD CUTS ON OUR BODIES, SO WE BANDAGED THOSE UP WHILE THERE AS WELL. WE CALLED INSURANCE, THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS INVOLVED FORTUNATELY, AS THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES CLOSELY AROUND US WHEN IT EXPLODED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY SAID WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY A $1,000 DEDUCTIBLE FOR THE INCIDENT TO BE REPAIRED. OBVIOUSLY, THIS WAS CONCERNING BECAUSE THIS WAS NOTHING OF OUR DOING. THIS WAS SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE POOR DESIGN OF THE SUNROOF, AND HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS AS WELL. NISSAN SHOULD PAY FOR THE DAMAGE, AND IN FACT, SHOULD RE-CALL ALL VEHICLES WITH SUNROOFS TO INSTALL A BETTER DESIGNED SUNROOF WITH APPROPRIATE GLASS. HAD WE HAD OUR SOFT TOP INSIDE OPEN, THERE IS NO TELLING WHAT WOULD OR COULD HAVE HAPPENED AS WE WERE DRIVING AT AN INTERSTATE SPEED. AFTER REVIEWING THE OTHER STORIES OF THIS HAPPENING, THIS NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED IMMEDIATELY FOR THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS WITH SUNROOFS WITH THIS DESIGN BEFORE SOMETHING FATAL HAPPENS. BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED THEY SEE THAT THERE IS DIRT/DEBRE ON THE CAMERA BUT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT THIS TO FIX IT. THE BLIND SIDE LIGHTS GO OFF IN RAIN, SHINE, SNOW AND WHEN NO ONE IS AROUND.

I HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED A COMPLAINT INVOLVING EQUIPMENT FAILURE AND SAFETY. MY 2015 NISSAN ROGUE DOES NOT HAVE INTERIOR HEAT EVEN WHEN THE CONTROLS ARE SET AT 90 DEGREES. IN TRYING COMBINATIONS OF AIR-FLOWS AS INSTRUCTED BY MY DEALER, I HAD TO LOOK DOWN TO MAKE SURE I WAS PUSHING THE RIGHT BUTTONS. TALK ABOUT DISTRACTED DRIVING. WHEN I LOOKED BACK UP, I HAD JUST ENOUGH TIME TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES SO THAT I WOULD NOT REAR END A LOGGING TRUCK (THAT WAS ABOUT A 1/2 TO FULL BLOCK AWAY WHEN I FIRST LOOKED DOWN) DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE IN MY MIND. MORE IMPORTANTLY: LAST NIGHT I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A NIGHT CLASS (ABOUT 7 MILES). WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE LIGHT SNOW AND LIGHT FREEZING MIST. HAD MY TEMP. SET AT 90 DEGREES AND CONTROLS AT FULL DEFROST AND FULL FAN BLOWER. MY WINDSHIELD CONTINUED TO ICE UP BECAUSE OF LACK OF HEAT TO MELT THE FREEZING MIST. VISIBILITY GOT SO POOR I DIFFICULTY SEEING THROUGH MY WINDSHIELD. TRIED TO CONTROL THE VISION BY SPRAYING WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID USING WIPER CONTROLS. THIS HELPED. I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE HAS NOT YET BEEN RECALL FOR THIS HEATING PROBLEM. ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER DRIVERS THAT I HAVE READ ABOUT ON THE INTERNET THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS OF LACK OF HEAT. BETWEEN BEING A DISTRACTED DRIVER TRYING TO CONTINUALLY CHANGE CONTROL SETTINGS AS WELL AS AN UNSAFE DRIVER DUE TO VISIBILITY ISSUES AS EXPLAINED EARLIER, I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL MAKING THIS A NISSAN REPAIR ISSUE RATHER THAN A CONSUMER REPAIR ISSUE (COST). FROM WINDSHIELD. SURFING THE INTERNET, I SEE I AM NOT ALONE WITH THIS ISSUE. I ALSO LEARNED THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR FAULTY OR IMPROPER OPERATION OF HVAC. THE PRICE TO REPAIR THIS IS NEARLY $700 IF THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. ALTHOUGH THIS MAY SEEM LIKE MORE OF A "COMFORT" ISSUE THAN A SAFETY ISSUE IN KEEPING INTERIOR TEMPERATURE REASONABLE, BUT WHEN A PERSON KEEPS THE SETTING AT +90 DEGREES AND THE AIR BLOWING OUT IS BARELY WARM, WHEN THE WINDOWS STEAM UP BECAUSE OF IMPROPER AIR CIRCULATION, AND WHEN A WINDSHIELD CANNOT BE CLEARED OF SNOW OR ICE CREATING POOR VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING, THEN I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WARRANTS A RECALL.

I WAS ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY ON RT 2, NEAR EXIT 59 IN MASSACHUSETTS ON TUESDAY 3/20, AND THE ENGINE IN THE CAR TURNED OFF WHILE ACCELERATING, GOING ABOUT 55 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY. I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO RESTART THE CAR, BUT THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MARLBORO NISSAN, WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT START WHEN IT ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE NEXT DAY, IT STARTED AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEY WANT ME TO TAKE THE CAR HOME WITH NO EXPLANATION AND NO FIX. I FEEL COMPLETELY UNSAFE GETTING BACK BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A CAR WHERE AN ENGINE JUST TURNS OFF FOR NO REASON. I AM TOLD BY NISSAN CORPORATE CONSUMER AFFAIRS THAT THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HELP IF THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE A SECOND TIME. THIS IS DANGEROUS, AND I AM AT A LOSS WITH WHAT TO DO NEXT. THE CAR HAD ONLY BEEN DRIVEN HOME (20 MILE TRIP) AND PARKED. THE FIRE OCCURRED 8 HOURS LATER. THERE WAS NOTHING FLAMMABLE AROUND THE CAR. I FULLY BELIEVE THE CAR SELF IGNITED DURING THE EVE. I CALLED NISSAN TO REPORT THIS BEFORE I EVEN CALLED MY INSURANCE AGENT. I ASKED FOR AN INVESTIGATION. IF THIS CAR HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE I COULD HAVE ALSO LOST MY HOME AND MY FAMILY. THE CAR HAS A KEYLESS OPERATION. AFTER SERVICE AN REPROGRAMMING FOR A CVT ISSUE, THE ENGINE FAILED TO START AFTER SITTING IN THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT. IN ORDER TO START, THE BRAKE MUST BE ENGAGED BEFORE PUSHING THE START BUTTON. THIS DID NOT WORK AND THE START ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. PUSHING THE START BUTTON RESULTED IN CLICKING NOISE BUT THE SOLENOID (IF THIS CAR HAS ONE) DID NOT ENGAGE. AFTER TRYING SEVERAL TIMES AND TURNING LIGHTS ON AND OFF, THE CAR STARTS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE IGNITION WOULD DISENGAGE WHILE DRIVING. ONCE THE VEHICLE STARTED, IT DID NOT SHUT OFF UNTIL I TURNED IT OFF; BUT I HAVEN'T TESTED DRIVING IT. THE CAR NEVER DID THIS UNTIL THE COMPUTER REPROGRAMMING DONE THIS PAST THURSDAY FEBRUARY 24TH WHEN I HAD THE CAR SERVICE BEFORE LEAVING ON A TRIP.

I THEN CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP NEEDED TO TAKE CARE OF IT. I MADE THE HOUR AND A HALF TREK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD IT SERVICED - I THINK. NOW, I AM RECEIVING NOTICES FROM NISSAN TELLING ME IT WASN'T DONE, WHICH MAKES ME SEEM NEGLIGENT. MY CAR IS HAVING VERY BAD VIBRATION. IT IS THERE SINCE I BROUGHT THE CAR AND I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES COMPLAINING THE ISSUE AND THE DEALER SAYS THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WHEN I SHOWED THE PROBLEM TO THE NISSAN MECHANIC THEY SAID THAT IT IS NORMAL WITH NISSAN AND NISSAN DOSEN'T HAVE A FIX FOR IT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE OF MY CAR IS 11200 AND THE VIBRATION INCREASES DURING THE WINTER AND WHEN THE HEAT OR AC IS POWERED ON. I AM WORRIED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE TOO MUCH VIBRATION CAN LEAD TO LOOSENING OF PARTS THAT MIGHT RESULT IN ACCIDENT OR ENGINE FAILURE. 2015 HONDA CRV HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE ISSUE AND IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE FIXED, AND NISSAN DOSEN'T WANT TO LOOSE MONEY BY CREATING A RECALL FOR THIS FIX. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL THE NISSAN ROGUES. MANY PEOPLE DIDN'T NOTICE THIS AND SOME THINK THIS IS NORMAL WITH THE CAR AS THEY HAVE NOT OWNED ANOTHER NEW CAR BEFORE. THIS ANNOYING AS WELL AS SAFETY ISSUE HAS TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION AND PROVIDE A RECALL FOR ALL THE OWNERS OF THE NISSAN ROGUE. ALMOST 3 MONTHS INTO CAR WHILE DRIVING SPEED WAS LIKE WHEN THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL(BUT ON DRIVE) & IF I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL NOTHING HAPPENED THEN IT TURNED OFF. I THOUGHT IT WAS A 1 TIME THING, THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN ALMOST 2 MONTHS AFTER, DEALER SAID WE CANT FIND THE PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES THEY COULD NEVER FIND THE ISSUE. THEN IT WOULDNT EVEN TURN ON MAKING A LOUD NOISE THEN SAYING KEY NOT DETECTED. THEN AFTER THIS TOWING COMPANY JUMP STARTED CAR, & AT THE DEALER IT HAPPENED TO THEM ONCE. THEY SAID THEY TESTED EVERYTHING BUT CAR WOULD SAY KEY NOT DETECTED. THEN AFTER WE TOLD THEM WE SUBMITTED EVERYTHING TO CORP[ORATE OFFICE THEY SAID IT WAS JUST THE BATTERY & IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THE JUICE IN THE BATTERY WAS ALL DRAINED & SOMETHING ELSE HAD TO CAUSE THAT ESPECIALLY WHEN IT SAYS KEY NOT DETECTED. THAT THEY DON'T FEEL SAFE US TAKING CAR BACK UNTIL THEY CAN FIND ISSUE BUT LUIS AT NISSAN NORTH AMERICA SAID THAT IS NOT WHAT SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD THEM. THAT THEY CAN'T HELP US DOING A BUY OUT FOR THIS DEFECTIVE CAR BECAUSE TO THEM NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. THIS IS A VERY HAZARDOUS AND UNSAFE MATTER AND THE LAST TIME IT TURNED OFF ON ME I WAS IN THE HIGHWAY I45 HAD TO SLOWLY LET IT GO TO THE SIDE ROAD UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO TURN BACK ON. NIGHTTIME THE DASH PANEL WITH IT'S LIGHTS GLARE OUTSIDE DRIVER WINDOW BLOCKING SIDE MIRROR VIEW OF TRAFFIC VISIBILITY. SITUATION IS ANNOYING & A SAFETY CONCERN. TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY ABOUT 60 MPH WHEN A SEMI PASSED US GOING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. AFTER HE PASSED THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION. WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD HAPPENED. WE DISCOVERED THAT THE SUNROOF WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED AND GLASS WAS EVERYWHERE. LUCKILY WE HAD THE INSIDE ROOF COVER CLOSED OR WE WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED WITH GLASS. WE THOUGHT A ROCK HAD BEEN KICKED UP BY THE SEMI BUT NO ROCK WAS FOUND. WE HAD PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE ON MAY 14, 2015 AND THIS HAPPENED EXACTLY ONE WEEK LATER ON MAY 21, 2015. TOTAL COST OF REPLACING SUNROOF WAS $1914.07. WE WERE STILL UNDER ASSUMPTION THAT IT WAS A ROCK THAT CAUSED THE DAMAGE UNTIL WE SAW THE WORLD NEWS REPORT ON EXPLODING SUNROOFS. THIS MATCHED OUR INCIDENT TO THE TEE.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE DOORS DO NOT UNLOCK UNTIL YOU PRESS THE ENGINE STOP BUTTON. THEN ALL THE DOORS UNLOCK, NOT JUST THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THAT MAKES IT VERY EASY FOR CAR JACKERS, PURSE SNATCHERS, AND CHILD ABDUCTORS TO WAIT AT A GAS STATION FOR YOU TO PULL UP, TURN OFF YOUR ENGINE SO YOU CAN GET OUT, AND COMMIT THEIR CRIME WHEN ALL THE DOORS UNLOCK. OBVIOUSLY THE SAME WOULD BE TRUE IF FOR SOME REASON YOU WERE PULLING INTO A SHOPPING MALL OR GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT. THERE IS A METHOD TO REVERSE THE OPERATION SO NO DOORS UNLOCK WHEN YOU TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND THIS IS SAFER, EXCEPT:..THE DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK AND FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK ARE NOT MECHANICALLY CONNECTED THE THE DOOR HANDLE. IE, IF YOU DISABLE THE AUTO DOOR UNLOCK, YOU CANNOT OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR IN AN EMERGENCY -- LIKE A CAR FIRE, HEART ATTACK, ACCIDENT -- UNLESS YOU CAN FIND AND RELEASE THE DOOR LOCK WHICH HAS BEEN "AESTHETICALLY" HIDDEN IN THE DOOR AND DESIGNED SO IT IS NOT EASILY OPENED -- I ASSUME TO PREVENT SOMEONE FROM USING A WIRE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. THIS IS THE FIRST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER DRIVEN THAT THE DRIVER (AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER) CANNOT EXIT WITHOUT MANUALLY FINDING AND FLIPPING THE DOOR LOCK. HOW INSANE IS THAT? ... I MENTIONED THAT NONE OF MY AMERICAN CARS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THE MECHANIC I WAS TALKING TO SAID IT WAS ONLY A NISSAN THING. NO OTHER CAR THAT HE KNOWS OF WILL NOT LET THE DRIVER EXIT THE CAR BY PULLING THE DOOR HANDLE...HIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND YOU TRULY HAVE VERY LITTLE CONTROL OVER YOUR OWN SECURITY IN THIS VEHICLE. ANY PERSON WITH ANY KIND OF EVEN MINOR HAND DISABILITY, LIKE ARTHRITIS, WOULD HAVE A VERY HARD TIME UNLOCKING THE CAR DOORS. THE TRULY CRAZY THING IS THAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT, MAYBE, 5-10 CENTS OF CLOTHES HANGER-TYPE WIRE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND POTENTIALLY SAVE PEOPLE'S LIVES. 6/13/2015 -THE KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE NEW LEASED . AFTER 10 MINUTES OF STARTING AND STOPPING, THE KEY WAS ABLE TO BE REMOVED. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 36 MILES. 6/15/2015 - THE KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM NEW VEHICLE A SECOND TIME. AFTER ATTEMPTING FOR OVER ONE HOUR, I CONTACTED THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD TO BRING THE CAR IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THERE WAS NO WAY TO GET THE KEY OUT IN THE MEANTIME. 6/16/2015 - CONTACTED BY NISSAN SERVICE. THE KEY HAS YET TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION AND THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THE CAR'S MILEAGE AT THIS POINT IS APPROXIMATELY 56 MILES.
