The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that the dealer had performed a CVT transmission replacement under an unknown recall. The contact stated that after the repair, the AWD warning light was intermittently illuminated. The dealer was notified and informed the contact that the warning light was an indication of the tire tread wear and tear. Additionally, the contact stated that while her husband was driving 30 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and made an abnormally loud grinding sound. The contact stated that the vehicle felt like the rear wheels had locked up, and the vehicle was dragging. The driver smelled an abnormal burning rubber odor. A message indicating a high temperature and advising the driver to pull over was displayed. The driver was able to veer to the side of the road and waited for a while until the message cleared. The driver was then able to drive to the nearby residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that gear oil was leaking from the front transfer case and from the AWD housing area. The mechanic informed the contact that the failure had occurred because the dealer failed to replace a gasket during the transmission repair. The contact was referred to the dealer for the repairs. Additionally, the contact stated that the SPORT Mode was inoperable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

This is a supplemental complaint to NHTSA ID #11604939. On October 25, 2025, Passport Nissan in Alexandria, Virginia diagnosed my 2016 Nissan Rogue with fault code P17F1, which indicates a known CVT transmission failure. The technician documented drivability issues including hesitation, slipping, and pulsing during acceleration. The diagnostic sheet recommended full CVT replacement. The dealership submitted a warranty request to Nissan’s Diagnostic Validation Team, and internal documentation shows a full transmission job totaling $6,996.44. Nissan classified the failure as warrantable under goodwill. Despite this, Nissan later offered only a partial valve body repair with a 50/50 cost split and a 3-day deadline. This contradicts Nissan’s own Technical Service Bulletin, which states that if fault code P17F1 returns after reprogramming, the transmission must be replaced. The dealership’s own technician confirmed the failure was warrantable and recommended full replacement. This misrepresentation minimizes a known safety defect and compromises consumer protection. The issue has been confirmed by a dealership technician, documented in service records, and submitted to Nissan’s internal warranty team. The vehicle experienced hesitation and loss of power during acceleration, which posed a safety risk while driving. This reflects a broader pattern of concealment and avoidance of full liability for transmission failures across Nissan vehicles. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter as a potential safety defect and deceptive repair practice. The component is available for inspection upon request, and all documentation has been submitted to the Virginia Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Section and I am prepping for other filings.

I own a 2016 Nissan Rogue. VIN: [XXX] . The transmission system (power train) is malfunctioning, showing fault code P17F1 and symptoms of slipping, delayed acceleration, and a heavy ride. The issue is intermittent but recurring. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety is compromised during highway merging, uphill driving, and stop-and-go traffic. The vehicle hesitates or drags, which could lead to collisions or loss of control in high-speed or congested conditions. Passport Nissan Alexandria confirmed squirrel damage in August 2021, tied to Nissan’s use of soy-based wire insulation. They wrapped the wires with rat tape and recommended cayenne pepper, which I’ve consistently used. Despite these measures, the vehicle now shows signs of electrical instability affecting transmission performance. The original damage was confirmed by the dealership. The current issue has not yet been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center. I have submitted a warranty exception request to Nissan Consumer Affairs and Executive Consumer Affairs and requested a full diagnostic review. No warning lamps appeared prior to the failure. The symptoms began in early 2024 and have occurred multiple times since. The fault code was retrieved using an OBD-II scanner. This issue reflects a broader manufacturer vulnerability tied to material choices that attract rodents and create long-term electrical risk. Documentation includes a timestamped Facebook post and a dealership confirmation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

With no prior warning or issues while driving on the freeway the rpm’s on my car just went in the redline and the car just lost power and I had to pull to the side of the road and that was that. Had to tow it home and it has not moved on its own since. Had it towed to dealer it’s a transmission failure. Total cost of repair $8500 and I’m at 131000 miles so past any extensions even purchased the extended warranty to 100000 miles when I bought it new for $40000.

From what it sounds like, it’s the transmission, it goes on limp mode, now it doesn’t want to move anymore, the gears move out of place. All the mechanics I have been to have been telling me 6k to place it and charge me 200 out of pocket just to tell me that with a computer to find the codes. My car hasn’t moved in 2 months

hesitation during acceleration, jerking, shuddering, and delayed / rough shifting. Constant whirring noise, rattling noise when accelerating. RPM above 1 even when parked. Struggles to gain power when accelerating. Sounds and issues listed above have increasing gotten worse over time.

My transmission is slow when I driving and loss power in hills

Jul 31, 2025

While driving down the road, the car lost power on an interstate and then would randomly pick up power.

Jul 10, 2025

Spare tire provided with vehicle is incorrect size causing drive train issues which can lead to vehicle locking up and or becoming inoperable.

May 30, 2025

The back differential box gave out on me. Audible constant grinding of gears and leakage from the box. Underneath of car feels like it’s jumping around and sounds like a chain in dragging. No prior issues or warning signs/lights beforehand. Had hit a pothole, and this terrible grinding noise started. Took to my local NTB and they didn’t know the problem, thought a drive shaft initially. Took to Nissan for a second opinion and was quoted $4700 for a new back differential. I cannot drive it, as I don’t feel safe, and its apparent gears have either shifted out of place, or broke inside there. Decided not to spend the money to fix, considering the car is 9 years old and isn’t worth even $4700.

Have a 2016 Nissan rogue purchased new and well maintained. It has 87,000 miles. Last week, out of the blue, the car dropped to 50 mph and would not go over that speed. This happened on a major highway. Thankfully able to get to the side of the road. Took it to the Nissan dealer where it was purchased and for $170 was told the transmission needed to be replaced for a cost of $7,100. Found out through the class action lawsuit info that you can speak to the Nissan good will directly because there was a known transmission issue for that particular year, make and model. My dealer did not tell me about this option. Called Nissan USA, spoke to Austin in their consumer affairs department where a claim was opened. Consumer affairs received the diagnostic report and made the decision that despite the overall condition and maintenance records, they could not extend the warranty as a courtesy to us. I find it ridiculous that Nissan knows there is a transmission problem in these cars, they were sued for and settled for the same make and model. This is a safety issue that Nissan should have to fix.

May 21, 2025

The transmission began stuttering and making clunking noises as it was being driven normally down the road. This issue put me and my family at risk because we were not sure if we’d make it home and if the transmission would suddenly lock up leading us to an accident. The car has been gone through by a dealership in Jacksonville NC and was declared to have a faulty transmission. The check engine light turned on right when the stuttering started to occur

Feb 4, 2025

The Nissan Rogue 2016 transmission failed at 106,853 miles. The entire transmission had to be replaced at a cost of $4,850 6/19/24

Dec 2, 2024

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the vehicle briefly began to rattle after which it lost all motive power. The contact was able to coast to the side of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, who confirmed the diagnosis. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 111,000.

My 2016 Nissan Rogue shakes terribly when it goes over 60 mph. This has been happening for over a year. I have twice taken it to garages for repair, most recently this week. They replaced the axels but this did nothing and they told me they have been reviewing Nissan service bulletins. They said they know the year of my car has had numerous transmission issues. So as of now, I can't drive my car at a speed over 60 mph. I don't feel safe driving it but don't want to shell out more money for speculative solutions that probably won't work and will just cost me more money.

Nov 27, 2024

Have a 2016 Nissan rogue with about 49,000 miles. About two months ago, started experiencing judder when truck got above 50 miles an hour. Took it to a local mechanic where they performed a diagnostic and let us know there was a transmission problem. They advised to speak to the Nissan head office directly because there was a known transmission issue for that particular year, make and model. On 11/12/2024, called Nissan USA, spoke to Ashley in their consumer affairs department where a claim was opened. Ashley took information on the truck and based on the mileage said there was a possibility of a goodwill being offered. The truck had to be taken to one of Nissan’s service locations to have a diagnostics performed which was done on 11/20/2024. Once done and $200 later, Nissan confirmed that the transmission had to be replaced for about $8000. Consumer affairs received the diagnostic report and made the decision that despite the low mileage, they could not extend the warranty as a courtesy to us. I find it unfair that I have a vehicle that was drivable a few weeks ago, and with no fair warning, started having the same transmission problems that Nissan was sued for and settled for the same make and model. Please help me find some justice. Thank you.

Vehicle transmission is shaking, shuddering, bumping.

Sep 9, 2024

Transmission jerks while driving. It started with a few little jumps here and there, and before long rattling violently. Stopped accelerating in traffic.

Aug 19, 2024

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle jerked forward, and the RPM increased. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,200.

While driving home from work, the Nissan went from 50mph, suddenly down to 4mph. (literally 4mph) Pressing the gas down all the way would not allow the car to move any faster. It would occasionally get up to 15mph, but wouldn't stay. I was LUCKY beyond belief that a car or semi didn't hit me at highway speed before I could move over in rush hour traffic. Both the local dealership and Nissan USA executive offices concluded that this does not fall within the extended warranty forced on them by the NTHSA for many, many similar incidents. The dealer, asking like it was an oil change, asked if I wanted a new $9k transmission. As I can't afford anywhere near that, nor is the car worth it, I was required to drive it home from the dealership, again putting my life at risk. IN ADDITION - a recall repair was requested (the driver door wiring harness) - and the dealership told me that it was completed. They did not complete this recall either. Nissan should not be allowed to make vehicles in the USA. If they actually stood behind their product and made repairs and replacements when there are manufacturing issues, I would feel much better about the situation. For now- I want to ensure no one I care about actually dies from driving a Nissan.

May 29, 2024

The vehicle began experiencing difficulties accelerating especially in instances where acceleration was necessary as in merging onto highways. The car began jerking through acceleration and consequently revving sporadically. I took the vehicle in and was informed the entire transmission needs to be replaced. The car is just passed the warranty in both mileage and the year so the dealership offered no assistance.

May 25, 2024

Nissan knows their transmissions aren’t good. They are putting bad transmission into cars and scamming people out of money. My transmission just blew with 92,000 miles on it. There was formally a class action lawsuit. They know they have bad transmissions and don’t care

May 17, 2024

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the contact noticed a failure with the transmission. The contact stated that when he attempted to shift the gear shifter, the transmission remained in neutral. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was not contacted, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.

CVT transmission on a 2016 Nissan Rogue SL with 43,800 miles. Its available foe inspection. The vehicle transmission jerks, it hesitates, there is revving, and shudders. The problems was reproduced by a Nissan Dealer and inspected with a diagnosis of a bad transmission needing replacement. No warning or lamps before the 1st incident on April 8, 2024.

Apr 9, 2024

Transmission revs and won't shift. At the time I was bringing my husband from VA Hospital. I pulled over and waitedfor a few minutes. I drove to my mechanic and he checked it out and said I need a new transmission. I have had this issue before over the years but this time engine light stayed on.

Apr 2, 2024

Driving in the highway and RPM kept going higher but vehicle was slowing down and it happened during bad traffic. Happened again same day at a traffic light, light turned green and my vehicle didn’t move for a short while

Mar 22, 2024

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 20 MPH, the vehicle shut off as a key fob warning symbol appeared on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic and was later towed to the dealer. Two separate diagnostics were performed on the vehicle; however, they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer later informed the contact that a defective belt located underneath the dashboard may have caused the failure. The mechanic gave the contact an estimate for the repair but warned that the repair may not fix the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

2015 Nissan Rogue will not accelerate in any gear sporadically. Happens once or twice a day. The motor will run and Rpm's rev up, but the drivetrain seems to disengage, and momentum is lost. Very dangerous situation in traffic, because the car seems to stall out, with no warning to other drivers. We have been to the Nissan dealer several times and they say they cannot find a fix until they can "duplicate the issue". As mentioned previously, it happens sporadically.

Nov 13, 2023

transmission failure suddenly while driving with no check engine or warning lights.

Nov 12, 2023

Vehicle intermittently drops out of gear/will not engage transmission while in use.

Nov 6, 2023

While driving home from work, the vehicle's transmission stopped working, resulting in coasting out of traffic and requiring a tow home at night. My safety and the safety of others were at risk. The next morning, the vehicle was towed to the mechanic shop, which confirmed the transmission failed and needs a complete replacement. There was not any warning lights or clear symptoms. In hindsight, there were some slight performance warnings that began about 2 miles prior to failure. The vehicle had a slight hesitation (like driving a car that wasn't warmed up prior to the 1990s or using cheap gas) but it was so slight and not alarming or cause for concern. The following day I was scheduled to drive to San Fransisco, had the failure occurred on I-80, it would have been a dangerous situation. Another safety issue is the radio screen that doesn't work when the outside temperature is hot, it flashes so bright, and it is so distracting that I put a postcard in front of it to dim the strobe effect. The dealership said I need to replace the computer but it was safe to drive. This vehicle has been well maintained and has approx 121k miles. The link to the repair estimate from the mechanic stopped working after I declined the $9000 cost. So I cannot provide that. The vehicle was towed back to my home, and it is parked in my driveway until I figure out what to do.

Oct 31, 2023

While driving home from work, my wife was attempting to merge onto the on-ramp to the highway, and the vehicle jerked violently and RPM's skyrocketed but the speed was barely climbing. The speed didn't rise above 20mph until RPM's reached 4k. We had to creep all the way home with the engine whining and juddering and couldn't go above 45mph. This is extremely dangerous and the mechanics are saying there's nothing they can do other than buy an entirely new transmission because the CVT is complete trash, ,there was all kinds of debris in the bottom of the pan and Nissan is acting like they have no idea what we are talking about. I'm at a complete lost as to why there aren't any recalls for the 2016 Nissan Rogue CVT transmissions!!!!!! This is unsafe and I will never purchase anything affiliated with Nissan!

Oct 27, 2023

I was driving my car as normal, when I stopped for red light to wait the green light , The car could engage in proper gear . This is automatic transmission I had nothing to do with shift . The vehicle had a delay to engage in the next gear. In order the vehicle to move The RMP had to be raised until 4,000 rpm. on The high way the car couldn't go over 45mph. Each traffic light or stop sign I had to wait and push the acceleration pedal very slow otherwise the car would jump. Taking to the dealership they said it is transmission issue . I had to pay more than $7,000 just for the new transmission.

Oct 25, 2023

On July 15, 23 was driving home from Dr appt n my rpm was going crazy, the engine was whining while I was driving rogue and didn't hardly move. I had it towed and mechanic said was totalled. Transmission is out. 3 mechanic said same was totalled. There needs to be recall on 2016 nissan rogue transmission!!!

Oct 6, 2023

Driving home on the highway my car begin to rev high, but lose speed, then again when I went to pass in the passing lane, I pulled over for about 5mins, then proceeded to drive, about 2 mins in it started doing it again, but this time it made noises, and was vibrating/shuddering as if something was in the gears, I pulled over and got roadside assistance which in-turn led to the towing of my car to a safe location. once off the flatbed, I went to park my car, it did all the noises and revving once again, but as I placed it in park there was fast clicking sound and the car rolled back (while in park), I then applied the brakes harder then released again, and it began to roll again... once again I applied the brakes, as well as the parking brake and it remained stationary.

While driving on a major highway, my newly licensed 16-year-old son experienced shuddering, jerking (slight at first, but progressively worse) and failure to take off from a traffic light. He turned on the emergency flashing lights to alert other drivers, and he was able to take off about 5 seconds later, but the RPMs raced sporadically and acceleration stopped working. He drifted into a left turn lane and prayed he would make it across two lanes of active traffic without stopping. My independent service center and our closest dealer confirmed diagnosis (transmission replacement needed) and I had to have it towed to the dealer through my insurance company. NO WARNING LAMPS OR MESSAGES APPEARED PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. Nissan was unwilling to provide any financial assistance or goodwill toward the necessary transmission replacement, although this is a known defect in CVT transmissions. Their only action has been service bulletins and a settlement for an extra 24,000 miles beyond the original 60,000. I am fortunate my son was not a casualty of this poor craftsmanship, but I guess since no one has died yet, Nissan doesn't have to do the right thing and recall these faulty transmissions. Poor customer service and poor vehicles. This is my fourth Nissan, and two of them have had transmission issues. I will NEVER buy another. My family is too valuable to risk in one of these experiments.

On August 12 2023 on a trip to hershey PA my rogue felt like she was barely stuttering. I was passenger at the time, asked the driver if they felt that and if it was the car or the road because it felt almost like vibrations on uneven road. Then the rpm's dropped at highway speed like it needed to downshift, paused just above 2k and popped back up. Minutes later the transmission light came on. It continued to happen on and off on the way home and to the airport the following day. I parked her for a week until could get her to the garage (she moved less than 20 miles in that week). Taking her to winchester, the stutter became more "vibrant" and distinct happening no less than 12 times in 35 miles. I've never had issues previous to Aug 12. The shop said transmission failure. When I brought up the history of cvt issues and asked for additional warranty on the repair (beyond the 12 mos they quoted) . Obviously this is a known issue, the dealer makinge feel as if they are trying to ignore it is frustrating.

Aug 17, 2023

During highway driving speeds vehicle will suddenly lose power and slow down. Pressing accelerator pedal increases RPM but not the speed. With cruise control engaged vehicle will suddenly and abruptly slow down with RPMs climbing to 4000. I fear that I will be hit from behind because of suddenly slowing down. Also unable to pass vehicles due to loss of power.

I bought the car from my mom, at 30k miles they had to have a new transmission, on my way home to Wisconsin right in the middle of the interstate the transmission went out again thank god I'm alive, this is less than 20k miles after the dealership put the new one in, now it needs another transmission. I'm scared for my life to drive it again, please do something so no one gets hurt or killed

There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the used car dealer, where it was purchased from. The used car dealer diagnosed that the front brakes assemblies needed to be replaced. The dealer also informed the contact that the rear brakes were beginning to fail and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, while the dealer was test-driving the vehicle, the failure persisted, and there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the transfer case. The dealer diagnosed that the transfer case metal shavings had contaminated the transmission fluid, which damaged the transmission. The dealer diagnosed that the transfer case and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The Nissan dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

Loss of acceleration while driving and upon attempting to engage acceleration after stopping. This has been occurring since the vehicle was purchased, used, from a dealership in Sept 2021. The dealership kept the car for 3 months after my initial concern was submitted, (received back right before Christmas of 2022) however, they "could not find anything wrong" and would not agree to replace the vehicle. The car is now rarely driven now, due to the issue and luckily avoided being hit recently when the issue occurred at a heavily trafficked intersection, Did some research online to find that the loss of acceleration is a very common occurrence with the 2016 Rogue. Nissan corporate was recently contacted and a claim was started, in the hopes for a permanent resolution.

3/13/2023, The last two times I drove the 2016 Nissan, the AWD Error was on the display. I’m not sure what would cause this. I also noticed that the ABS indicator flashes for a while and then stays on when I first start the vehicle. As I look back, A few times I remember a hesitation after descending a steep street and making a sharp left turn onto an intersecting street. It felt as if there was no power even though the engine accelerated. Today the vehicle has 32,386 miles on the odometer. This vehicle sits idle most of the time in our driveway as it belongs to my son who is in the military overseas. I drive it on occasion to maintain the battery. I did replace the battery several months ago. This is the second battery replacement since it was purchased.

Vehical will lurch, stutter and sometimes nearly stall usually upon acceleration. Feels unsafe to drive. Our mechanic inspected the vehicle and found the CVT needs replaced ($5500 repair). We have had the car just less than 7 years and it had less than 70K miles when the issue began. After taking it in to the mechanic it now has 70190 miles.

The contact owns a 2016 Nisan Rouge. The vehicle had a recent transmission replacement August 2022; however, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and an unknow part was replaced. Additionally, the RPM was fluctuating. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 154,705.

The check engine light was coming on and our mechanic assessed that the "transmission is slipping". He believed it was under warranty and told us to take it to the Nissan dealer. Nissan confirmed that the transmission/cvt needed replacement; however it was no longer under warranty. In Stringer v. Nissan North America, a settlement was reached in a class action lawsuit alleging that the CVT transmissions in Rogues from 2014 - 2018 were faulty. Nissan admitted no wrongdoing, but extended the warranty for replacement to 84,000 miles. My Nissan has 87,000 miles and both the local and National Nissan organizations refused to fix the problem. The problem with my car mirrors what the complaint in the class action lawsuit entails: there are severe delays when trying to accelerate and the engine revs. Both Nissan and our mechanic confirmed the problem. Both the local and national Nissan confirmed the issue with CVT, but said that our mileage made us ineligible. The problem did not start for us until last month when my car was already over 84,000 miles. I noticed the slow acceleration and revving noise in August, but my car had been inspected in July and our longtime mechanic found no issues. The engine malfunction light did not go on until Labor Day weekend 2022 when we had travelled out of state. I travel 54 miles, many of which are on the highway, each direction to work and I am extremely concerned for my safety. A new transmission will cost over $5,000 and I am incredulous that Nissan knows their transmission is faulty but is refusing to remedy the situation.

Power windows don’t work , have issues with my abs causing car not to kick into gear sometimes, battery replacement

Aug 29, 2022

Thankfully i have not been injured yet. But i brought a nissan Rogue 2016 and when driving for a while notice that sometimes i push on gas pedal and RPM goes up but car won"t move. Or sometimes it seems like transmission is slipping.my check engine light can on and will be taking to Nissan to diagnose the issue which according to what i been reading is a common issue for vehicle. i still have a loan on car and feel that its so unfair that this is a common issue for this car and under 100000. my car only has 68000ish miles and thats about the time the issue reported to have start around that mileage. The code that comes up for this issue is p00776 which is a solenoid b in or on my transmission.

I received notification of NHTSA recall 22V-024 in the beginning of the year. In this notification it is stated that the repair is currently being developed by Nissan to remedy your vehicle and the remedy is anticipated to be available in Spring of 2022. It is now mid-August and there is still no remedy. I asked the Nissan dealer when i brought my car in for inspection back in February and they said there was no remedy yet. Now I just called Nissan Consumer Affairs and still no remedy. Everytime I am told I will receive a letter in the mail when a remedy is available. Its been 8 months which is more than a reasonable amount of time to pass without a remedy. I have experienced some of the conditions related to this recall (drivers power window inoperative) and I am worried every time I drive my car of it catching fire. My second complaint is for a long time now my Rogue has had issues with the transmission stalling, jerking, and lagging when trying to accelerate from a stop. Come to find out I was not the only one experiencing these issues and there was a class action lawsuit for these exact issues. This past week I receive a letter from Nissan saying my warranty on the CVT has been extended to 7 years/84,000 miles. Well I just hit 88,000. I called Nissan Consumer Affairs and they inform me yea there was a delay in sending out this letter but they still wont cover any repairs since I am over the 84,000 miles. If the CVT has these known issues and there was a class action lawsuit, why hasnt there been a recall for the affected models. I am not happy that I am driving around in a car that I dont feel safe in

2016 Nissan Rogue had transmission faililure while driving: gear slippage, engine racing and loss of power - unable to place in gear to drive. No warning message given. Vehicle was towed to Grossman Nissan in Old Saybrook, CT. It was diagnosed by dealer as CVT transmission defect internal failure and transmission replaced with a different transmission system on 6/23/22 with a bill of $4100. This is a known Nissan defect and could have caused an accident and injury.

Jul 16, 2022

Our vehicle uses a CVT transmission and when driving the vehicle it will frequently get stuck in a lower gear that does not allow the vehicle to accelerate. This sometimes can get remedied by pulling over to side of the road if possible and then turning off the vehicle and turning it back on. Unfortunately, this is very dangerous because most of the times it occurs when we are in the middle of traffic or merging to another lane. The vehicle will not accelerate pass 40 mph and the rpm is very high. We have brought it up to the attention of Nissan but nothing is ever said about it. We believe this issue is very dangerous to owners of the Nissan Rogue and Nissan also has a history of issues with CVT on earlier models. We believe that the issue is being ignored by Nissan to repair or replace the CVT transmission on these models.

Jul 13, 2022

We've owned this Nissan Rogue since since we bought it around 6,000 miles. I've maintained it and driven it almost completely all highway miles as we live in a rural area. Required maintenance schedule was followed and CVT transmission service was done at a Nissan Dealer. Without warning, the car lost acceleration/power in the middle of the highway as we were driving into town to take my son to baseball practice. We were nearly in a major accident as we could not accelerate. The engine kept revving as we put the pedal to the floor but would not move faster. Bringing it to the nearest dealership less than a mile away, he inspected it and informed us that the transmission would need to be replaced. Their little dealership had already done "over 70 of these" as Nissan "had a known problem with their CVT transmission." According to him it was poorly designed and they knew it. They had remedied some of the problems in the new/rebuilt transmission that could replace it, but refused to issue a recall for the defective transmissions. Cost to repair: more than $5,000! We could have been seriously injured or killed! This is a huge safety hazard that Nissan absolutely knows about and refuses to fix.

At 135,000 miles, this car should not have transmission failure. The Constant Variable Transmission is defective and should be eligible for recall.

Jun 21, 2022

on a few occasions in 2022 (3 that im aware of) the rogue would stop accelerating. The top speed was about 15 miles an hour while the RPMs ran about 4000. Last week the problem happened again. I was 1 mile from a mechanic so I drove it slowly in. The mechanic hooked up some diagnostic equipment (about the size of an iPad )and was able to confirm that I had a transmission issue. He let me know that I needed to bring it into a Nissan dealership for the repair. He was aware of the problems with the Nissan CRT transmission and thought it may haver been recalled. The mechanic reset the error codes to I could drive it home. That was a few days ago and the car is running fine still. I took the car to Nissan of Devon to have the problem addressed but they were not able to do anything since the error codes had been reset. They did recommend I spend $150 for a software update. I had that done. The problem now is that the car is at 83,453 miles. The dealership let me know that in Leo of a recall the warranty was extended but the new expiration is now 84,000 miles. That doesn't leave many miles to go. Even though the problem with the transmission is dangerous I need to drive it in HOPES of making the situation happen again in the next week or so.

My drivers side window doesn’t go up and down consistently, also just spent 1500.00 for a total tune up, always do my oil changes tires brakes etc. now I’m driving down the road and my car jerked so hard it caused my forearm to beep the horn and the driver behind me just missed rear ending me. It happened two more times driving very slow to get home and again almost got rear ended. I spent 32,000.00 for this car not even six years old. I have a 2007 Nissan Versa bottom of the line that has over 200,000 miles no problems. Nissan is very aware of the problem with these CVT’s and the extended warranty isn’t helping me as I drive a lot for work all highway, I can’t even work right now! This is ridiculous! They tried to tell me that 125,000 is a lot of miles I was like are you kidding me this is a 32,000.00 car! My Versa was 16,000 and almost ten years older and still going strong. If they are ok with these cars some only lasting from 45,000 miles to 125,000 miles then the price should be reduced severely!

Jun 5, 2022

Several months ago, my car would seem to shift into low and rev very high without moving any faster. I took it in to the dealership, and they added transmission fluid. Since then, the frequency of this occurrence has increased to several times per week. This last time, the check engine light came on. I have an appointment on Monday to take the car in for repair to the dealership.

Mar 11, 2022

Around 60k miles, the car started intermittently having a significant delay from the point when the accelerator was pressed and car moved. Often, once car started accelerating it went much faster than anticipated. Sometimes the car had a jerking motion mostly when traveling up a hill. I reported it to the dealership but it was to be deemed no trouble found. The rep did indicate that what I was describing sounded like a common transmission issue, but I am already past warranty and recommended just keeping an eye on it. Over time it progressively became more frequent. It failed completely at 96k miles with i's last run that took around 5 seconds from accelerator was pressed to the car moving. At which point, the car jutted out into traffic but was unable to accelerate. These problems have caused potential accidents where I could have rear-ended someone else because of the sudden fast movement after a delay. Or in the case of the last run (which incident is being reported), cars behind me had to swerve to avoid hitting me because I was unable to get car moving at the traffic's speed. The check engine light came on after the fact, but there were never any warning lamps or messages related to the transmission prior to the incident and because of this the dealership was unable to discuss with manufacturer early on about a warranty exception.

My car will randomly stall out when I drive and forget it’s in Drive…..my RPMs will shoot up but the car does not go, it looses the power of driving as if the car was put into neutral but wasn’t.

Mar 4, 2022

At seemingly random times the 2016 Nissan Rogue SUV will jerk or shudder while in motion. I would normally travel at a consistent speed but this issue causes sudden jerking/shuddering. I believe it involves the transmission. This creates a significant safety hazard to myself and others while on the road. If my car suddenly stops or significantly slows down while on the freeway it could cause a crash. Additionally when I turn corners I will periodically hear and feel a creak in the front driver's seat. It legitimately feels like the seat is not properly secured and that I would slide out of position given enough force.

The vehicle is doggy and won't shift. The rpms just keep climbing with no power causing me to be in a high speed limit area slowing down significantly fast as the transmission won't engage, almost getting rear ended.

Dec 29, 2021

I have been having issues with the transmission in my 2016 Nissan Rogue. At the date of the filing of a class action lawsuit regarding this issue there were 38 complaints lodged with the NHTSA regarding this same issue, for just that year of the model. That total does not include any complaints regarding the Pathfinder, Altima, Infinity, Versa, or Sentry, or prior or consecutive years of the Rogue, even though there are multiple complaints regarding the issue. The NHTSA does not seem to be concerned with the safety of those that have filed complaints regarding this issue, as they have not ordered a recall. I was even informed earlier that there were no complaints on record, so either the representative did not look closely enough, or at all. To explain the issue all you have to do is look at all other complaints regarding the CVT issue in the Nissan models, lack of acceleration, increased rpms due to revving, lagging when driving, increased shaking when stopped. Please take the complaints serious and have Nissan fix the defect that they are more than aware of. Nissan only acknowledges a problem after warranty expires, and now they are minimally extending warranties to address problem, but most have already gone over mileage extension. This needs to be addressed as an imminent safety issue.

The transmission began to fail and caused the vehicle to stall for approximately 5 to 6 seconds before moving. There were several instances where I was unable to move my vehicle while in the parking lot and came close to being hit by another vehicle or came close to hitting another vehicle. The check engine light came in my car. Thinking it was something simple, because it only has 28k miles. I took it to a non Nissan mechanic for diagnostics. After finding out it wasn’t simple, I called Nissan warranty. They told me I had to take it to their mechanic for diagnostics. So I’m doubly diagnosed with a failing transmission that needs to be replaced. Nissan warranty has offered to pay 70% of repairs. Two weeks ago I asked for an estimate, and a trade in price for my car. They still haven’t returned my call. This is so frustrated because I paid cash for my car, and now all I want to do is dump it.

I was driving on a four lane freeway when my transmission (with no warning) started acting strange. The engine started revving like I was stepping on the gas harder, but the car was actually slowing down. It felt like the engine was going to blow so I took my foot off of the gas. I tried to accelrate to get to the exit lane as cars were trying to pass on the left and right. The transmission would catch and start working sort of and then start racing the engine again. I was able to get off of the highway, but it was a very harrowing experience. Even though I was off of the highway I needed to continue to a safe place. The car continued to race the engine, but not really accelerate. Had car towed to dealer. Car needs new transmission. Apparently this is a known defect with these transmissions.

I was driving on highway when my 2016 Nissan Rogue SV with 60,700 miles and just 5 years old transmission began slipping. The RPMs were jumping up and down when I tried to accelerate and travel with highway traffic at 65mph. I could not get vehicle to travel past 50 mph and once I was safely able to pull off exit, the car which was still in drive, began rolling backwards towards other vehicles on exit ramp. No warning lights ever came on, and there was no prior indication of a transmission failure. No stalling, slipping, lurching, etc. My safety along with my 7 & 2 year old was put at great risk as we could have easily been hit going so slow on an interstate, along with it rolling backwards on exit ramp. It was too unsafe to pull off on highway breakdown lane because it’s too narrow. The vehicle was then towed to Nissan dealership where it was confirmed to be a transmission failure at no fault of my own, but a “mechanical failure” as they described and they fixed.

Transmission gone out at 70000 miles

Aug 25, 2021

I bought my Rouge used on 7/6/21, and it started acting up on 8/15/21. A whole 9 days after my 30 day limited warranty ran out. It feel like the transmission is slipping. It jerks, bogs down, doesn't accelerate when you step on the gas, is hesitant to back up or drive, will stall while driving, and completely loses power while driving. I was driving to work today and it lost power while i was on the highway, had i not been able to pull off I could've have been killed. It was driving fine at 65 mph and then just started to lose power and not want to go. I pulled off the highway and shut it off and then after a few minutes restarted the car, it still hesitated to go and was jerking and bogging down but didn't lose power again. I am afraid to drive this or have my kids in the car but I don't have a choice as I am still paying on this car. The check engine light did not come on until after these things occurred. It was driving fine prior to 8/15/21 and nothing occurred that should've caused this problem.

My vehicle failed to accelerate while stopped at a left turn with oncoming traffic. This happened a few times. And the most recent incident, my vehicle failed to shift, forcing me to drive my vehicle in the wrong gear for 10 miles at 4,000 rpm's. I brought the vehicle to the dealer for inspection but they couldn't reproduce the malfunction at that time. I'm currently driving my vehicle under significant safety risk.

May 27, 2021

At. 26000 miles, my Rogue was powering down taking off from a traffic light. Pressing on the gas was of no use. Since I lived in a small town, I was able to coast, to the side of the road, but still in the road. I thought a new mat had probably slid under the gas pedaI so I removed the mat. I did notice a few hesitations without the mat but not enough to worry me. Then, I was on a four-lane highway, At a red light. The light changed, I pressed on the gas, the car moved forward. I lost complete acceleration again no matter how much I pressed the gas pedal. I had enough momentum to just get in between the right turn lane and traffic going straight from the other direction . The motor never died. After a few seconds, the car drove like nothing had ever happened. My first visit to the dealership. They were baffled. No problem until 10 months later at 37,000 miles. This time a mechanic decided the idle was low and “relearned” it. I felt confident. Then I moved to a large metropolitan city. I enter a major road each time I leave my house.Twenty-two months later, and at 57,000 miles, it once again lost power in the LEFT-HAND lane of a 2 lane turn. I considered myself lucky one more time. I was able to COAST between cars in the right turn lane, across two more lanes and into a store parking lot. A few seconds of sitting still and off again. The second incident was a couple days later on a two hour interstate trip with passengers. Same story. After the trip home over the weekend, I had the car at a second dealership . That was when I found multiple recalls and lawsuits about Nissan CVT transmissions slipping. I was surprised to see there have been only 8 deaths. This service department basically said, if it didn’t show up on the diagnostics it wasn’t true. I currently have a loaner while the original Dealership has the car.

MY VEHICLE BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION RIGHT BEFORE THE 60,000 WARRANTY WAS UP. I WAS NOT ABOUT TO GET AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL MONDAY MARCH 22, 2021 AT THIS TIME THE MILEAGE WAS 60,063. THE ISSUES BEGAN WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, I NOTICED THE CAR WAS DECELERATING AND WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS THERE WAS A SCREECHING SOUNDS SO I PULLED OVER. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE CAR EVENTUALLY BUT IT WOULD JERK WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THE SCREECHING NOISE RETURN AT 3000 RPM. I BROUGHT IT INTO A AUTO SHOP WHO RECOMMENDED BRING IT TO A DEALERSHIP. THAT IS WHERE IS WAS DIAGNOSED WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND RECOMMENDED FOR A REPLACEMENT. THAT BRINGS ME BACK TO THE MILEAGE ISSUE, IF I WAS ABLE TO GET IT IN A DAY SOONER THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY COVERED. NISSAN'S GOODWILL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM WILL COVER HALF, BUT THE CVT HAS BEEN A SOURCE OF SEVERAL LAWSUIT. NISSAN ISSUES AND EXTENSION ON THE WARRANTY. I HAVE EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL HARDSHIP AND $2,200 IS A LOT OF MONEY FOR AN ISSUE A DESIGN ISSUE, ESPECIALLY WHEN NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR SOME NISSAN ROGUE THAT ARE THE SAME YEAR. WHY NOT FOR ALL WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A PREDATORY PRACTICE AND AS A YOUNG WOMAN WHO DOES NOT KNOW MUCH I FEEL TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF RIGHT NOW. I DO LOVE MY CAR AND WOULD HAVE LIKED TO REMAIN WITH NISSAN BUT WITH THE PANDEMIC AND JOB SECURITY BEING CRITICAL ELEMENTS OF Y SURVIVAL I AM NO LONGER CONFIDENT IN MY VEHICLE ABILITY TO BE RELIABLE IN MY EVERY DAY NEEDS. THIS WAS A STRESSFUL ORDEAL AND I HOPE THIS SAVES ANOTHER YOUNG WOMAN FROM MAKING A SIMILAR MISTAKE.

THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PRODUCE LOUD GRINDING NOISES WHEN DECELERATING IN AUGUST OF 2020. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AT THE NISSAN SERVICE CENTER WITH A DEFECTIVE TRANSFER CASE. IT IS NOW SEVEN MONTHS LATER, MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE CENTER FOUR TIMES (IN ONE INSTANCE, IT WAS IN THE SERVICE CENTER FOR 30 DAYS) AND IT IS NOT FIXED, AND IT WAS WORSE THAN BEFORE. IT CONSTANTLY SHUDDERS AND IS INCREDIBLY LOUD NOW WHEN ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING. DESPITE BEING UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY IT IS STILL NOT REPAIRED. NISSAN CONTINUOUSLY KEEPS PLACING NEW TRANSFER CASES IN MY CAR WITHOUT INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THIS IS OUR FAMILY VEHICLE WE USE TO TRANSPORT MY INFANT DAUGHTER AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE HER IN THIS CAR DUE TO THE CHANCE THAT THE TRANSMISSION MAY FAIL ENTIRELY.

FIRST THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE SLIP INDICATOR (OR TRACTION CONTROL) LIGHT FOR THE VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL WOULD COME ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING BOTH ON THE HIGHWAY AND OTHER ROADS. THEN ONE DAY, I WENT TO START MY CAR AND ALL OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING AND IT WOULDN'T START. WE BOUGHT JUMPER CABLES AND JUMPED IT BUT IT STILL WOULDN'T START THE NEXT DAY. SO I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND IT WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THEN WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, THE SLIP INDICATOR (TRACTION CONTROL) LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND IT WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 20 MPH AND I HAD TO FLOOR THE GAS TO EVEN GET IT TO GO TO THAT SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS JERKING SO BAD, I HAD TO PULL OVER. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND IT TURNS OUT IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION WITH UNDER 100,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND ONLY 4 YEARS OLD WHEN IT HAPPENED! THIS CAR HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF WITH REGULAR SERVICING.

WE DID NOT GO TO A DEALER AS THEY WERE TWICE AS FAR AS THE MECHANIC WE FOUND. NISSAN REFUSED TO CONSIDER A RECALL OR ISSUE EVEN WITH A SETTLED LAWSUIT ON OTHER CVT TRANSMISSIONS. THERE WILL BE TIMES WHERE I AM PUT IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS I CANNOT CONTROL THE CARS ACCELERATION AND IT WILL SPEED UP VERY RAPIDLY OR NOT ALLOW ME TO SPEED UP AT ALL. I PURCHASE A 2016 NISSAN ROGUE ON JULY 27,2019. ON AUGUST 20 I TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND STATED THAT THE CAR HAVE VIBRATION, CLICK SOUND , THE HOOD WAS LIKE IT WAS GOING POP UP IF I WENT MORE THAN 65MPH AND WAS LIKE YOU HAD GIVE A LOT GAS FOR IT TO GO. THE SAY THEY CHECK OUT AND NOTHING WAS WRONG. ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN AND HAD TO PUSH PETAL ALL WAY DOWN AND THE CAR WAS STILL ONLY GOING ABOUT 20 MPH BUT THE RPM WAS AT LIKE 5. WAS SACRED FEELING TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY NOTHING WAS WRONG. THEN ON JAN 1,2020 COMING DOWN 95 SOUTHBOUND AND MY WHOLE DASH BORED LIGHTS CAME ON . I BELIEVE IT WAS EVERY SINGLE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WAS TOLD THAT MY ABS WAS BAD AND IT WAS GOING COST AROUND 3800 TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR STAYED AT NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR OVER 2 MONTHS. ONCE I RECEIVE MY CAR BACK STILL COMPLAIN ABOUT THE VIBRATION AND HOOD. AGAIN WAS TOLD SINCE IT'S NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THERE'S NO PROBLEM. ON JULY 17 MY CHECK ENGINE CAME ON AND MY RPM WAS GOING UP TO LIKE 5. DROP MY CAR TO NISSAN TO HAVE LIGHT CHECK OUT WAS TOLD THAT THERE'S WASN'T A LIGHT ON ONCE THEY PULL MY CAR IN SHOP. AGAIN NO ANSWER. ON AUGUST 8 MY CAR WAS LIKE I HAD PUSH PEDAL ALL WAY AND IT WAS GOING LIKE 25 MPH AND RPM WAS AT 4 BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK MY CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION. NOW THAT MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED JUST THE END OF JULY 2020 I CAN RECEIVE A DIAGNOSTIC IF PROBLEM. BUT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS THINGS THE WHOLE YEAR I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE. I SEE THAT THERE ARE KNOW PROBLEM WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS IN ROGUE. AT ABOUT 58000 MILES SEPT 2019 I FIRST NOTICED ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION AND NOISE. I WAS ABOUT TO GO OUT OF TOWN AND WAS AFRAID TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK MY CAR TO NISSAN OF BOWIE. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THERE WERE NO CODES ACTIVATED AND NO RECALLS ON THE CAR. HE GAVE ME A LIST OF OTHER CONCERNS FOR MY CAR (BRAKES, ROTORS, AND TIRES). I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AND DID NOT DRIVE OUT OF TOWN AS PLANNED. MY HUSBAND REPLACED MY ROTORS, BRAKES, AND TIRES. STILL THE CAR WAS SHAKY. NEXT TRIP OUT OF TOWN WAS IN MAY 2020. MY CAR STALLED OUT WHILE WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY TO VISIT MY FAMILY IN KENTUCKY. WE WERE AN HOUR AWAY FROM OUR HOTEL AND DROVE EXTREMELY SLOW. NO DEALERSHIPS WERE OPEN ON SUNDAY. WE TOOK MY CAR TO COYLE NISSAN IN SOUTHERN INDIANA. THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THEY EXPLAINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY TRASHED AND OUT OF WARRANTY. I TRIED TO SEE IF MY INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD COVER IT. A SERVICE TECHNICIAN AT THIS LOCATION TOLD MY INSURANCE COMPANY THERE IS NOTHING I COULD HAVE DONE TO DAMAGE THE TRANSMISSION. IT GOES OUT ON ITS OWN. THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS. I CALLED THE NISSAN WARRANTY PEOPLE TO GET SUPPORT. THEY AGREED TO PAY PARTS AND NOT LABOR. WHILE I WAS STRANDED OUT OF TOWN AND STUCK IN A HOTEL, I HAD TO PAY 2000 DOLLARS FOR LABOR TO GET BACK ON THE ROAD AND RETURN TO MARYLAND. I FILED A BBB AUTOLINE COMPLAINT AND THEY SAID THEY ONLY HELP WITH CARS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. MY SECOND TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN ON MAY 14TH AND WENT OUT LESS THAN TWO WEEKS LATER ON MAY 27TH. I NOTICED ISSUES THIS TIME AS SOON AS WE HEADED TO MARYLAND. IT STALLED OUT COMPLETELY WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS CAR AND AM ON A THIRD TRANSMISSION. THERE WAS A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST NISSAN FOR THE EXACT TRANSMISSION IN 2019 ON OTHER MODELS. *TR

MY VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER OUT OF NOWHERE WHEN I'M DRIVING CAUSING ME TO NOT BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 40MPH AT 4-5 RPM, THE GAS PEDDLE DOES NOT WORK YOU CAN FEEL THE PULL ON THE CAR THERE IS NO POWER. I NEED TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS TO NOT BLOW MY TRANSMISSION BUT THEN I DROP TO ABOUT 20MPH AND ON HIGHWAYS OR EVEN SIDE ROADS THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE. BECAUSE THIS ONLY HAPPENS HERE AND THERE (3 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH) AND NEVER PREDICTABLY, THE DEALERSHIP IS SAYING THEY CANNOT FIX OR DO ANYTHING TO THE CAR WITHOUT THE ISSUE HAPPENING THERE UNDER THEIR SUPERVISION. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AND THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED ON ALL VEHICLES BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. I PURCHASED A 2016 ROGUE SV (VIN [XXX], I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE I BROUGHT IT HOME. I HAD THE HEAD UNIT REPLACE NO LESS THAN 4 SEPARATE TIMES BECAUSE IT WOULD STOP WORKING AND GO BLACK. THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS TOLD IT WAS BEING REPLACED WITH A "BRAND NEW UNIT". THE DEALERSHIP FORGOT TO TRANSFER MY XM SUBSCRIPTION TO THE NEW UNIT, SO WHEN I CALLED TO ACTIVATE I FIND OUT NOT ONLY IS IT NOT NEW, ITS 4 YEARS OLDER THAN THE CAR I OWN. WHILE REPLACING THIS THE TECHNICIANS DESTROYED THE SURROUNDING TRIM. LAST JUNE MY CAR STARTED STALLING OUT, THIS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE ENGINE DIED BUT THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS STAYED ON. IT HAS DIED AT GAS STATIONS, STOP LIGHTS AND PULLING ONTO A ROADWAY. IT CONTINUES TO SHUDDERS AT STOP LIGHTS. NISSAN WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE EVENTS SO I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT HOME. LAST WEEK MY ROGUE BEGAN TO PUSH 6000 RPMS WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND I NEVER MADE IT ABOVE 45MPH. DURING THIS EVENT THE CAR WOULDN'T GO BELOW 4000RPMS, THIS EVENT LASTED ABOUT 30MINS. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WE HAVE VIDEO OF THE EVENTS, ABOUT 15 MINUTES WORTH. I WAS TOLD THIS WEEK THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD SENT THE ISSUES TO NISSAN, AND THAT WITH THE VIDEO/THE COMPLAINTS THAT NISSAN WOULD REPLACE AND FIX WHAT THEY BELIEVED TO BE THE PROBLEM, SOMETHING WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIP THEN CALLED MY HUSBAND AND TOLD HIM THAT WE COULD PICK UP THE VEHICLE AND TAKE IT HOME. THEY TOLD HIM THAT "NISSAN CREATED A TECHNOLOGY" THAT IS NOW INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE SO THE NEXT TIME AN EVENT HAPPENS IT WILL RECORD IT, TO CONTINUE DRIVING IT FOR A 1,000 MILES. I FEEL UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. I DO NOT TRUST THIS VEHICLE TO DELIVER MY DAUGHTER AND I SAFELY AND RELIABLY TO OUR DESTINATION. I WILL BE HAPPY TO SHARE THE VIDEO AS WELL INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TT

-CAR HAS 56,000 MILES -A FEW TIMES OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS, IT HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A FULL STOP -YESTERDAY, IT HAPPENED A LOT, AND SEVERAL TIMES I EVEN PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR, AND NOTHING HAPPENED...THEN IT SUDDENLY REVVED AND SHOT FORWARD AFTER A FEW SECONDS. TERRIFYING. -I RESEARCHED AND IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE, BUT TODAY THE DEALER SAID THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE NO ERROR CODES, ETC., ARE SHOWING UP.

ABOUT A YEAR AGO (2018) MY CAR STARTED OCCASIONALLY LOSING POWER AFTER I HAD STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AFTER DRIVING ON A CITY STREET OR GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY. I WOULD PUSH THE GAS PEDAL AND MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE UNTIL ABOUT 5 SECONDS LATER. IF I KEEP DRIVING WHILE THIS HAPPENS, EVENTUALLY THE CAR WILL NOT GO OVER 40 MPH, THE RPMS WILL GO UP TO 4K-5K AND THE ENGINE WILL REV WITHOUT GAINING SPEED. IT WILL THEN START LURCHING FORWARD AND JERKING BACK AND FORTH. I FINALLY FIGURED OUT THAT IF I STOP AND THEN RESTART MY CAR, THE ISSUE SUBSIDES. HOWEVER, THIS ISSUE HAS STARTED HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. I WOULD ESTIMATE DRIVING THE CAR FOR AN HOUR, IT WILL HAPPEN 7-8 TIMES (WHEN TURNING THE CAR OFF, THEN ON AGAIN). IT MAKES DRIVING DANGEROUS WHEN I AM NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHEN NEEDED OR WHEN MY CAR IS JERKING UNCONTROLLABLY. MY STRUTS ALSO KEEP SQUEAKING WHEN I GO OVER SPEED BUMPS OR ANY OTHER BUMP. THE DEALER REPEATEDLY TELLS ME IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE BUT NOTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED SINCE IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE.

IN OCTOBER OF 2018 I TOOK MY SUV WITH PICTURES TO LET THEM KNOW THAT I TACHOMETER WAS GOING UP TO HIGH I WAS PUTTING ON THE GAS BUT MY VEHICLE WASN'T MOVING. THEY HAD IT FOR THREE DAYS AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. I WENT BACK TO HAVE MY OIL CHANGED AND I LET ME KNOW I WAS STILL HAVING THE PROBLEMS. NOTHING EVERY DONE. ON SATURDAY I WENT AN GOT GAS AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I TOOK IT TO O'REILLY TO SEE WHAT THE CODE SHOWED IT SAID DTC P0776; PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID B. THERE WAS A YOUNG MAN THAT WORKED ON CARS THERE AND HE EXPLAINED TO ME THE ISSUE WAS IN THE TRANSMISSION. HE SAID THIS DOESN'T OCCUR OVER NIGHT AND HAD I TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I TOLD HIM YES AND HE TOLD ME TO CALL THEM. I CALLED THEM THIS MORNING AND THE SERVICE MANGER TOLD ME I NEVER COMPLAINED AGAIN AND I DID BUT NOTHING WAS DONE. MAYBE IT BECAUSE I DIDN'T PURCHASE IT FROM THEM. I HAVE 66,000 MILES THIS A SHAME THEY DON'T CARE. I AM CURRENTLY IN GARY, INDIANA HELPING TO ASSIST WITH MY ELDERLY MOTHER THAT HAS DEMENTIA, THIS IS THE REASON I WENT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN ADDRESS: 220 VERPLANK ROAD, CHESTERTON, IN 46304 PHONE: (219) 787-1777 AT: BOB ROHRMAN PLEASE CONTACT ME BY EMAIL OR PHONE

IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND "FRONT END COLLISION" APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. WITHOUT WARNING, THE ENGINE IN MY CAR INTERMITTENTLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THE CAR LOSES POWER TO THE STEERING WHEEL AND BREAKS. BECAUSE THE CAR IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURS, I CANNOT PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT. I HAVE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND TURN THE KEY TO RESTART IT. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCUR WHEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR LONGER DISTANCES, ALTHOUGH NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. USE OF THE AIR CONDITIONER OR HEAT SEEM TO MAKE THE ISSUE WORSE. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASH ONCE PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. THE BATTERY IS STILL ON, SO THE RADIO IS STILL OPERATIONAL, AS ARE ALL OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS. I OFTEN DON'T KNOW THAT THE ENGINE HAS SHUT OFF UNTIL I TRY TO ACCELERATE OR BREAK AND AM UNABLE TO DO SO. IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. I HAVE ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR A 5 POINT INSPECTION AND TO HAVE THEM DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I WAS TURNED AWAY AND THEY ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE.

MY 2016 NISSAN ROGUE EXPERIENCED AN ABRUPT AND TOTAL FAILURE OF THE CVT TRANSMISSION. I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD LURCH AND LOSE POWER. THIS ABRUPT FAILURE MAKES ME FEEL VERY UNSAFE FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY THAT RIDES IN THIS CAR, HAD IT STALLED ON THE BUSY ST LOUIS MO INTERSTATES WE WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT AND POSSIBLY KILLED, LUCKILY I WAS ON A BUSY, BUT LESS TRAVELED ROAD AND I WAS ABLE TO LIMP THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 41,000 MILES ON IT. ONCE I GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I INSISTED THAT THEY RIDE WITH ME SO THEY KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND NOT TRY TO SAY THAT THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE WHEN DRIVING IT ALONE. THE SERVICE PROFESSIONAL WAS VERY UPFRONT AND HONEST WITH ME AND TOLD ME IT WAS DEFINITELY THE TRANSMISSION AND NISSAN HAS TONS OF THESE ISSUES WITH THEIR VEHICLES. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR OVER A WEEK NOW FOR A TRANSMISSION REBUILD. HOWEVER, NISSAN IS NOT OFFERING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OR ANYTHING ON IT, EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THEY ARE FAULTY AND DANGEROUS, I WILL ONLY HAVE 20,000 MILES LEFT ON MY WARRANTY ONCE I PICK MY CARE UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP. NISSAN DOESN'T OFFER LOANER CARS TO THOSE WITH WARRANTY WORK THAT NEEDS DONE, WE HAVE TO PAY $35 A DAY DUE TO THEIR FAULTY VEHICLES, THE LEAST THEY CAN DO IS OFFER LOANER VEHICLES FOR WARRANTY WORK! NISSAN NEEDS TO HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR LEMON VEHICLES AND BE REQUIRED TO BUY THEM BACK ON THE FIRST TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR, EVEN WITH THE REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND I DON'T THINK THAT IT SHOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILITY TO TRADE THE CAR IN, ROLL OVER THOUSANDS TO ANOTHER VEHICLE LOAN AND PAY $1500 OR MORE IN TAXES TO LICENSE AND TITLE ANOTHER VEHICLE. NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS AND THEY NEED TO BE FINED FOR THEIR CONTINUED USE OF FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS AND MADE TO BUY BACK FAULTY AND DANGEROUS VEHICLES.

WHEN ACCELERATING ON HIGHWAY OR CITY STREET, I NOTICED VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A LOUD WHINING/PURRING NOISE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED (AND I DO HAVE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY). THIS WAS A WEDNESDAY SO I WAS GIVEN A LOANER VEHICLE ON THURSDAY WHILE MY CAR WOULD BE IN THE SHOP OVER THE WEEKEND. MONDAY MORNING, NEVER HEARD ANYTHING FROM DEALERSHIP. TUESDAY, SAME. WEDNESDAY, STILL NO WORD LATE IN THE AFTERNOON SO I HAD TO CALL AND THE SERVICE COORDINATOR INFORMS ME THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION BECAUSE NISSAN STATES THE NOISE THE TRANSMISSION IS MAKING IS NOT "LOUD" ENOUGH. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT ON MY VEHICLE THAT IS TITLED "INFORMATION TO PREVENT CVT REPLACEMENT DUE TO MISDIAGNOSIS OF NOISE" THAT THE DEALERSHIP'S SHOP FOREMAN WENT THROUGH AND THEIR CONCLUSION WAS THAT THIS IS WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. I CALLED NISSAN AND OPENED A CASE. MY CASE MANAGER SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP AND MY CASE WAS CLOSED BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THE SHOP TECHNICIAN AND NISSAN, THERE'S NOTHING "MECHANICALLY" WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE AND IT IS "WORKING PROPERLY" IT JUST MAKES AN UNPLEASANT NOISE. SO I CALLED NISSAN AND RE-OPENED MY CASE AND THE ASSISTANT OF MY CASE MANAGER INFORMS ME THAT MY NEXT STEP WOULD BE TO TAKE IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE IT AND SEE IF THEIR FINDINGS ARE DIFFERENT. THERE ARE NO NEARBY ALTERNATE NISSAN DEALERSHIPS THAT I CAN EASILY TAKE MY VEHICLE TO. NISSAN IS FORCING ME TO CONTINUE DRIVING MY VEHICLE DESPITE THEM KNOWING THERE IS A KNOWN FAILURE AND EXPECTING ME TO CONTINUE MAKING MONTHLY PAYMENTS FOR A VEHICLE THAT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING.

I PURCHASED MY 2016 NISSAN ROGUE AT THE END OCT OF 2016. SO I'VE OWNED IT FOR 17 MONTHS AND IT HAS APPROX 24K MILES. UP UNTIL FEB 24TH, 2018, I HAD NO ISSUES SAVE FOR EXTRA RATTLE-Y DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW. ON THAT DATE IT WAS TAKEN IN FOR REGULAR MAINTENENCE (OIL/ROTATION/BALANCE). SINCE THAT TIME THE CAR IS NOT HANDLING WELL, AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A WINDY DAY OR IT WAS SLIPPERY ROAD DUE TO RAIN, BUT AS TIME WENT ON, THE CAR SEEMED WOBBLY/BOUNCY ON IT'S WHEELS (40+ MPH) AND WOULD BEGIN TO SLIP/SLIDE/SKIP OUT OF THE LANE (60+ MPH) I'M DRIVING IN. I AM ABLE TO CORRECT FOR IT BUT IT'S SCARY TO DRIVE AND FEELS LIKE IT'S GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT'S STRUGGLING TO GO UP SMALL HILL (30 MPH) AND WHEELS/TIRES DON'T SEEM TO BE GRIPPING THE ROAD EVENLY. I HAVE TAKEN BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE AGREED SOMETHING IS WRONG AND IT'S NOT A TIRE BALANCE OR ALIGNMENT TYPE OF ISSUE. THUS FAR I'VE ONLY BEEN TOLD IT'S NOT SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE, POSSIBLY AXLE OR DRIVETRAIN ISSUE. AT THIS TIME THEY HAVE PROVIDED A SUBPAR LOANER AND ARE STATING THAT THE REPAIRS WILL BE UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, I AM HUGELY CONCERNED THAT SOMETHING OF THIS MAGNITUDE IS ALREADY BECOME AN ISSUE. AT THIS POINT, I DON'T WAN'T THE CAR ANYMORE. ONCE THEY HAVE MADE REPAIRS, I AM FORTUNATE THAT I CAN PROBABLY AFFORD TO JUST TRADE IN AND GET A NEW (NOT NISSAN AGAIN EVER) CAR. BUT I FEEL CONCERNED IF SOMEONE ELSE WERE TO PURCHASE MY TRADE IN AS A USED CAR NOT KNOWING THE POTENTIAL HIDDEN SAFETY ISSUES THAT MAY (LIKELY) ARISE.

TL* THE CONTACT LEASED A 2016 NISSAN ROGUE. THE DRIVER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND SUGGESTED THAT IT BE SERVICED BY THE DEALER WHO SOLD THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND THE GEARS WERE DIFFICULT TO SHIFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (HILLTOP NISSAN, 258 NJ-10, EAST HANOVER, NJ 07936, (973) 887-5400) WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED TWICE, BUT INDICATED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A THIRD TIME. THE DEALER WAS UNCERTAIN IF THEY COULD OFFER A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.

AS I WAS TRAVELLING ON A MAJOR FREEWAY, MY BRAND NEW 2016 NISSAN ROGUE BEGAN TO FEEL LIKE IT WAS "JUMPING." AT THAT POINT I NOTICED MY RPMS WERE HIGH FOR THE SPEED I WAS GOING. NOT EVEN 30 SECONDS AFTER, MY CAR COMPLETELY STALLED. I WAS IN THE FAST LANE OF THE FREEWAY AND BARELY HAD TIME TO REACT. I ENDED UP STUCK ON THE MEDIAN OF THE FREEWAY. I ENDED UP HAVING THE CAR TAKEN TO THE DEALER DOWN THE ROAD. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I REFUSED TO DRIVE IT AND BEGAN SEEKING FURTHER HELP THROUGH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. AFTER NEARLY A MONTH, AN ENGINEER FROM NISSAN TOOK 5 MINUTES TO LOOK AT IT AND NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THE PREVIOUS WEEK BEFORE THIS MAJOR INCIDENT, THE CAR IS STALLED A FEW BLOCKS FROM MY HOME ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. THE DEALERSHIP HAD TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. NOW HERE WE ARE 2 MONTHS LATER, AND IT FEELS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AGAIN.

A NISSAN DEALER HAD PREFORMED A SERVICE CAMPAIGN PC4900 TO MY 2016 NISSAN ROGUE IT INVOLVED THE CVT TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE AND SINCE THEY DID IT THE CAR IS NOT DRIVING LIKE BEFORE. THE SHIFTING IS SLOWER AND TAKES LONGER TO SHIFT, THE ENGINE IS LOUDER AND REVVING HIGHER AND THE FUEL ECONOMY GOT VERY BAD. CONTACTED THE DEALER AND ASKED IF THIS SERVICE CAMPAIGN CAN BE REVERSED AND THEIR ANSWER WAS "NO" I WILL BE TAKING THE CAR BACK TO THEM HAVE THEM CHECK IT AND ALSO CONTACTED NISSAN CORP AND OPENED A CASE. I HOPE THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
