2018 NISSAN ROGUE Forward Collision Avoidance Problems

While driving at approximately 15–20 mph, my vehicle suddenly started beeping and displayed a quick warning message on the dashboard before the brakes locked up on their own. The incident lasted only a few seconds, but it was extremely alarming. This same issue has now happened twice, both times in the exact same location on the same road, driving at about the same speed. The first incident was roughly around [XXX], the second incident was [XXX]. On both occasions, I had my [XXX] twin daughters in the car with me, and it frightened all of us. Thankfully, there were no vehicles directly behind me either time, otherwise it could have resulted in a rear-end collision. I believe there were cars ahead of me, but they were far enough away that I don’t think they triggered the sensors. Both times it was sunny, dry weather, and the road conditions were normal—no rain, no slick surfaces, and no obstacles in front of me. I am not sure if sunlight could have affected a sensor, but it appears to be related to the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system or another electronic braking malfunction. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer, but I plan to have it checked as soon as possible. Engine seems very weak. Not enough power to safely pass on a highway. Absolutely gutless and sometimes upon acceleration and/or braking it jerks.

The backup camera picture/screen has randomly cut out while backing up putting myself and whatever is behind me at risk for collision. In the section where it asks for the date, it's happens randomly since I bought it. Whenever I've taken it to my mechanic they have not been able to reproduce it. The emergency braking system has activated with nothing around. It's in the dealers now. It was listed as a recall on a RI safety but not associated with my vin so the nissan dealer is saying that it's not covered under recall because it shows only the brake recall. the software update is costing me 169. He says that it should fix both problems.

On Friday, 24 Jan 25, at highway speeds between 60 and 70 mph the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system unexpectedly engaged three times. On Sunday, 26 Jan 25, while in a neighborhood street the AEB engaged unexpectedly at 25 mph. That same day at highway speeds between 60 and 70 mph the AEB system unexpectedly engaged four times. Additionally, on that day the AEB warning light flashed and a chime was heard, but the system did not brake two times. This car was at a Nissan dealer on 2 Dec 2019 for recall 1-P9327 - Rogue AEB NTB19-064 and recall 2 - R1911 - NIS AV CONT UNIT MULTI TSB

At 3 separate times while driving my car just suddenly brakes and one of the times was doing between 40 and 50 with no other car around and suddenly with no warning car starts beeping and comes to an abrupt halt jacking the seatbelt tight and coming to a complete stop then proceeding along as if nothing happened.

Since I purchased my car in September of 2022, a 2018 Nissan Rogue SL AWD, whenever I drive down to Houston, TX, my AEB symbol (2 cars crashing symbol) flashes. This is consistent with me going to Houston about once a month, and I've driven elsewhere fine. I've driven throughout North TX, and to Louisiana, but every time without fail, my car gets the AEB sensor light. It flashes, and sometimes will go off for a day or two if I'm down there, but comes back on no matter what.

This is about the 4th incident where when I am driving my car and all of a sudden a message flashes on the dashboard and the car brakes hard, while my foot is still on the gas. There are no other vehicles in front of me or icy roads. I am in the process of bringing to the dealer I purchased it from to run a diagnostics, but from what I have read this issue has been happening a lot with the 2018 models. I do not want to wait until I have an accident for this issue to be acknowledged or repaired.

While driving on a clear day on an open road going about 50 MPH my car made the emergency alert noise for a forward collision and slammed on the brakes. Nothing was in front of me and the event almost caused an accident.

Since my purchase of my Rogue 2.5 years ago, it has randomly given a warning and braked out of nowhere. With no cars around, in front or behind, it was alarming. AEB warning light came on while driving and there was no object in sight.The light remained on the car was driving sporadically. Did not know what was wrong until I got home and looked at my manual. This was the 1st time it happened and it was frightening. This occurred 5/1/24.

last year the car was taken to the local Nissan dealer, all of a sudden the car battery needs Jump; it cost me 600 dollars and now the car is doing the same again; on the Nissan blog many 2018 Rogue owners experience the same issue. also there are all kind of warning lights coming up in my instrument panel scheduled as collision warning, parking. every time experience this I have taken the vehicle to a local Nissan dealer located in Doral, Florida. I have a 5 year old son and many times the car behaves erratic fearing for the life of my son and I, not to mentioned the times the vehicle won't start at a parking lot.

- Automatic Emergency Brake Malfunction. Was driving when suddenly without warning the vehicle started braking - flashing lights on dashboard. My Car will stop suddenly, and unpredictably at various times. The car will stop and sometimes shake as it acts like its stalling out and an emergency light flashes up briefly. This has almost caused us to be in multiple wrecks. I am scared to drive this car and scared to have my children in the car. This is so unpredictable; it cannot be diagnosed at just any time. The first time I was just pulling out of my driveway and my car, made this grinding noise and forced to stop and the braking system light came on. The second time we were going 30 to 45 miles an hour and the same thing happened made that grinding noise came to a stop that time was definitely more harder because we’re going faster. I brought this to the attention of Nissan in Bayshore, and supposedly they checked a couple of things and said nope everything’s fine and like I said that was the first time and the second time they said the same exact thing that there could be some thing that triggered it. No I don’t think so. I think that there’s something wrong with the system because things like that just don’t happen both days that this happened to me it was a clear day one was daytime one was night time , so there was nothing near me. Nothing in the way. This could’ve been really serious if I was going faster. I think that they should be addressed because obviously they are not taking it. Seriously you see all of the complaints why is this not being looked into more the second time when we were going faster, and I told Nissan this it actually hurt me , my neck was killing me for a week. This should be taken very seriously because if somebody is driving faster and that happens or if somebody is a new driver and that happens and they can seriously hurt themselves or others because it comes out of nowhere n is very scary. FYI- I had to put in a fake date of when it happened to move forward on the form. I’m unsure of the two dates but my car was brought into The Nissan dealership in bayshore for the problem n there is documentation there with the dates.

Repeated activation of the AEB system while driving above 20 mph when there are no other vehicles/objects/persons near the vehicle. Nissan has replaced the part and recalibrated the system 4 times, and the problem is still occurring.

My rpms went to and stayed at 6000 and I had no idea why and my crashing car with a star Symbol was illuminated,(and still is) for the whole way. I got off the freeway turned off my car. While turning into a busy intersection the automatic emergency braking engaged even though I had manually disabled it causing my vehicle to be stopped in intersection and when I tried to accelerate the car would not move and the AEB light came on as well as a triangle with exclamation point symbol telling me to check owner’s manual due to malfunction. There were no cars, people, or other obstructions in front of vehicle but there were vehicles behind me and my children and I could have all been injured had they collided with my vehicle due to the sudden stop/loss of power in intersection. I have not yet taken it to dealership but plan to ASAP

I was driving about 20mph or less on a street, there was no one in front or back of me luckily. But all of sudden my sensors started blinking my car started to break on its own like wheels starting to lock the sensors blinked so fast I couldn't see what it was as I was watching road to make sure no one is around. It did it a few seconds and I was able to press on gas pedal and keep driving. If someone was in back of me I would of got in a accident.

On Friday April 21, 2023 I was operating my vehicle with my toddler inside going about 30 miles per hour when suddenly out of no where with No Warning my vehicle beeped rapidly 5 times and as it was beeping it intensely braked itself and/or slowed down immediately while at a speed of about 30 miles per hour. It was as if my car was getting pulled backwards and immediately slowing down I had no control of my vehicle. I was driving 30 miles per hour but I had No Control Of my vehicle, Not until the vehicle was finished pulling all the way back and slowing down to about 5-10 miles per hour from 30. I had no warnings at all and at the times there were no vehicles directly in front or on the side of me. I feared for my daughters life and safety because we were on a busy road and just felt in the moment we were going to get hit from behind because my vehicle was out of my control it had a mind of its own, I couldn’t control it cuz it’s like it braked it self and at a speed of 30 it pulled back. I’m scared to drive this car now. I brought it for my growing family but it’s a danger to me and my family as well as other vehicles driving around or besides me; for these reasons I don’t trust nor want this vehicle no more. What component or system failed or malfunctioned? I believe the auto breaks/ emergency break sensors failed me How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety and my toddlers safety was put at risk because we coulda got into a really bad accident injuring ourselves as well as others because the car dropped its speed and dragged and/or pulled my vehicle back intensely without warning. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance? Yes Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure? No, I received no warnings prior to incident nor during or after incident.

Since I bought the car numerous times(over 50) the car stops or the brakes activate automatically for no apparent reason. Three times my daughter came extremely close to getting into a major accident being that the car behind literally touched the back bumper. I’m afraid of letting my daughter drive it as the car was bought for her, as I’m afraid she’ll get into an accident. Took the car three times to Nissan service as was told this problem is a normal occurrence with this car model and MissN k owns about it but won’t do anything to solve the problem as of yet. I was told that they could replace the “laser” for $2100 which I would have to pay for but there is no guarantee that it would solve the problem. When I asked what are my options besides that I was told to trade the car in and buy another one as if I have the luxury of just buying another car. This issue was reported first in 2019 by other drivers who had the same issue and there are lawsuits going on at the moment by people that got into accidents because of this and still Nissan won’t do anything about it. We need help in order for them to formally recall these models so we can avoid more accidents. Please help!!!!

In the first incident, I was in the middle of an intersection (going through on a green light) on a a normally busy road going approximately 35-40 mph and my automatic brake system braked hard without a warning. It beeped with a warning on the dash as it simultaneously braked. Not a single car was within 100 feet in front of me and thankfully there was no one close behind me. It was a four lane highway (2 lanes each way) with a barrier. The second incident was the following day when I was coasting up to a red light. There was approximately 30 feet until the stopped car at the red light and I had another car right behind me. I was going approximately 10-15 mph with my foot already on the brake. Without warning, it braked hard. I was already braking but this slammed on the brakes. There was a simultaneous beep and warning on the dash, but there wasn’t a warning prior.

On several occasions, my car has slammed on breaks on its on. There is a warning message that appears saying either there is a malfunction or the front radar has malfunctioned. Then the car will just stall or break on its own with a screeching sound. This has been terrifying as it has happened which driving on the highway.

I have purchased certified pre-owned 2018 Nissan Rouge SL on July 17th 2021 from a Dealer in TOTOWA, NJ, 07512.Recently we encountered a serious problem, where the AEB system malfunctions suddenly and unexpectedly when there is no car or object in front of the car. we are at a speed of 65 miles per hour and almost hit by a car behind us. This situation occurred three times and we are scared to drive the car. we tried to disable the automatic breaking system, but it gets reenabled Please let us know what you want us to do with the car condition.

Driving on the highway and the automatic emergency braking system/forward collision light came on essentially braking the vehicle and engaging the engine brake. Luckily no one was behind is. Was able to limp it to the side of the road and have it towed home

At unpredictable times and road conditions, the Automatic Emergency Braking system will activate causing the car to brake/lunge in such a manner that it feels like the operator is tapping the brakes. The system then proceeds to give the operator a series of warning lights on the dash display. During all of these instances there is nothing in proximity to the vehicle. We purchased the car in May 2021. It was a used, lease turn-in Nissan Certified vehicle. It started in June of 2021 while taking the car out to college with my daughter. I'm not sure how they can claim it was certified since this has been an ongoing issue with Nissan Rogues prior to May 2021. I believe they bare some degree of responsibility for putting the car back in service while knowing of this problem. I ask that all repair records prior to my purchase be researched for prior reports of this problem. I will be taking it to the dealer for inspection and attempted repair, but all my research leads me to believe they won't be able to remedy the situation. As a note, the car is not equipped with a camera at the rearview mirror assembly area. It has a sensor in the front end just below the Nissan emblem.

The brakes suddenly started acting funny and the car feels unsafe when braking. The brake shave been checked by two different brake shops and they claim the pads, etc. are fine. The problem started when multiple warning lights suddenly went off on our dashboard. This included the AEB System Malfunction light, traction control, check engine, and ABS lights went on. My 2018 Nissan Rogue AEB function triggers with no obstacles in view causing the vehicle to slow down creating a safety hazard. This has happened two times in August 2022 and each time I have taken the vehicle to Stone Mountain Nissan. There have been no resolution so far My safety as well as others have been at risk by the sudden slow down and the vehicle coming to a stop which creates a impact hazard from other drivers I am a senior and afraid to drive because of this issue On august 26 2022 my rogue suddenly slowed then stopped for no reason or obstruction in view The vehicle barely accelerated creating almost be struck by another driver so august 27 2022 I am sitting at Nissan dealer with a fee of 185 for a diagnostic that is unfair This issue calls for a buy back by Nissan or a recall a no customer cost I purchased this vehicle new

The emergency braking system on several occasions has beeped as though it was going to engage when no vehicles we’re around and on at least 3 occasions it has engaged when no vehicles were around. I brought it to the dealership to “update” the system, but the problem still occurs.

Was driving down the road and the AEB light came on. There was no reason for the sensor to go off. After about a minute, the alert came on my dash saying there was a malfunction. I’ve tried cleaning the sensors, turning the car on and off, and even turning the emergency breaks off. The sensor is still alerting after being in the car for around 5 minutes. The breaks haven’t abruptly stopped as of yet, however they have slowed the vehicle down while I’ve tried to accelerate to keep up with the flow of traffic.

The car REPEATEDLY emergency brakes when it is not supposed to, sometimes in dangerous situations when cars behind may rear end the vehicle. It mostly happens when there are dips or bumps in the road. For example, roads that curve and dip through foothills. Another example is going through parking garages where the road ahead ramps up. It happens at a variety of speeds and has been intermittenly happening since purchasing the vehicle. I am only notifying now because because it happened on the freeway and it did not do this before.

We purchased this vehicle in April of 2019. Since it was purchased there has been 20 or more cases of the Automatic Emergency Braking activating itself, without any visible trigger. We have been to the dealership multiple times and they told us it wasn’t a problem. Finally after the fourth or fifth time we were told there was a “service bulletin” to replace one of the sensors, but were also told “Nissan would not admit a problem, so don’t expect a recall.” My wife has almost been run over by 18-wheelers because of this system. One truck actually had to hit a ditch and damage his bumper to avoid her. This has happened at many different speeds, in many different road conditions, and in many different weather patterns.

I was going to work on pa turnpike was driving 70 mph 6:30 am there was nothing in front of me the automatic emergency braking system stoped my car for no reason thank God no one behind me like tractor trailer or I would have been killed I know there are problems with this system this wasn't the first time like the third time it happened also my warning light came on said obstructed don't know but was not safe they need to recall this and find a solution how many of these automatic emergency braking system stoped other's it is very unsafe when your on a highways or any road

i am driving a 2018 Nissan rogue, currently has 65000miles on it. May 1st 2022 8 pm, while i was driving at 35 miles per hour, the car suddenly triggered its emergency brake and brought the car to a full stop in the middle of the road. there is no obstruction around me at all. imagine this happens on a heavy traffic highway, i can be killed this way.

While driving at about 40 mph in the city the Automatic Emergency Brake gets engaged and i heard few beeps, the light of the AEB lit up in the dashboard and the car slows down suddenly. I had this issue before in 2018 very frequently when i purchased the car and reported to Nissan. Nissan did make a software modification in 2019 and it did slow down on the number of times this issue occurred but it still happened here and there. I noticed that only thing that was happening was the beeping but the car never broke down the speed. Yesterday 4/26/2022 it happened again where the car broke down the speed with no obstacle in front, just like it used to happen in 2018.

When I have Cruise Control activated, for example, at 65 mph, the engine transmission seems to keep shifting gears up and down and does not maintain a steady pace and slowing down/speeding up and shifting constantly. It is to the point that I will not use the Cruise Control any longer. It has happened each time I have activated it and I am inquiring if it is a commonly reported issue.

While driving on freeway and highway my vehicle suddenly came to an abrupt stop to the point of ABS system turning on as if there was a car in front without any obstacles or any vehicles on the road. It caused whiplash type of injury with each instance. It happened 5 times within 20 minutes. We visited professional body shop without any problems discovered. Since the vehicle was inspected in body shop it had happened twice again, last time on 9/26/21. Pls look into this issue ASAP as it is extremely dangerous situation!!

The automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection light comes on while going down the road. One of the times that it came on it turned off cruise control and the vehicle started to slow way down and then it was like the brakes were being applied while we were on the Interstate surrounded by traffic. The vehicle then would not accelerate for a period of a couple of minutes requiring me to move over while I was in the process of trying to pass vehicles which then required drivers around me to have to slow down and avoid hitting us. The vehicle would not allow the cruise control to turn on until we finally got into a town and stopped to get something to eat. I did not report the issue to the manufacturer, police or insurance at this time. The warning light came on suddenly when the incident happened but since we had not had the vehicle that long we were not sure what it was so we had to look that up. Since then it has ran fine but the other day again while traveling down the interstate it came on again but this time there was not slowing, braking or anything as a result so don't know why it came on and it did not appear to be working correctly if it was not doing anything but flashing the warning light.

The AEB system in my vehicle was upgraded due to recall in May 2021. On August 17th the AEB system engaged as I was driving down the road, there were no vehicles or obstructions in front of me to cause such action. I did avoid being hit from behind due to quick thinking and pulling to side of road. When the brakes engaged a malfunction warning flashed on my screen. No warnings were issued prior to incident. I called Nissan service they said they were unaware of a problem but I made appt to bring in to be evaluated, they did not find anything wrong and I was charged a diagnostics fee. After some research I did discover there are many other complaints of the same matter and also that there is an ongoing class action lawsuit against Nissan for this problem. I was also told by the Dealership manager that this is a problem with many Nissan vehicles.

In sum, vehicle was traveling at 35mph with no obstructions or vehicles in the front of my vehicle and forward collision warning activated, bringing vehicle to a complete stop. Breaks squealed and tire rubber burned onto pavement. Seatbelt clenched torso, leaving bruise on collar bone. Another occurrence was similar in speed, with no obstacles or vehicles in front of mine. The forward collision warning began beeping but not displaying any visuals or breaking vehicle.

Automatic emergency braking engaged twice when attempting to pull into garage. There were no obstructions in the way and no reason for the car to engage emergency braking. Additionally, the warning light before the emergency braking engages flashed briefly while driving on an empty road with no traffic or obstructions. The car did not engage the emergency braking, but it was concerning that the message flashed for a moment when there was nothing on the road ahead of me.

While driving wheels locked up once with flash warning, one with sound warning. Happened twice within one week of each other. No obstructions in front of or behind me. Wheels locked up with no injuries. Took to dealer for diagnostic testing ($149.00) with no findings/codes to explain locking of wheels.

My cars automatic brake system engaged twice now. The first time I was driving and the brakes were slammed on and a car had to swerve hard to avoid me. Just now going 70mph on the freeway with my two kids in the car out of no where the brake assist kicked on and my car stopped. Luckily it kicked off right after and no harm done. On June 10, 2021, I was driving my vehicle preparing to merge on the interstate to go home when all of a sudden the AEB Warning light activates and I cannot not safely drive my vehicle. My vehicle speed would not increase above 3mph. I had the vehicle towed to my home. Today I contacted the dealership requesting that they have my vehicle towed for service and a loaner (as this is my only means of transportation) and was informed that I would be responsible for the tow, that it would be 3 to 4 days before they could run diagnostics and they have no loaner. My reality is if I had merged onto the interstate and this happened, I could either be dead or lying in the Intensive Care Unit.

It started braking by itself while I was driving 65 mph on the freeway. Scary Sh**. This happened 7 times before I was able to get safely home. It happened even when slowing to 30mph. And the brake lights do not go on when this happens, my boyfriend was following me. I’m shocked there has not been a recall for this after reading online of other complaints and lawsuits. Huge safety issue. This isn’t a bad water pump issue it’s a peoples lives issue. I called Nissan and opened a case with them (case # 43890104) for the issue and to try to get my $165.00 back that I had to pay my local Nissan dealer. Although Nissan is going to reimburse me the $165.00 I paid, I strongly feel it needs a recall for this issue. People need to be aware that their lives are in danger. Please help. I TOTALED THE VEHICLE AND FRACTURED C5, C6, C7 IN MY NECK, AND HAD TO WEAR A CERVICAL COLLAR FOR 4 MONTHS FOLLOWING THE ACCIDENT. I ALSO SUFFERED A CONCUSSION. NISSAN TOOK OVER AND STARTED THEY NEEDED TO PERFORM AN INVESTIGATION. THEY FOUND AN ISSUE WITH THE SENSOR SYSTEM IN THE CAR, AND THE AEB WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. THIS COULD HAVE ALL BEEN AVOIDED. 10 MONTHS LATER THEY SEND OUT A CUSTOMER SERVICE INITIATIVE TO HAVE THE CAR UPDATED AND LOOKED AT AGAIN. HOWEVER THE CAR WAS NO LONGER IN MY POSSESSION.

THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY GOING 45-50 MPH - THE AEB SYSTEM DEPLOYED AND THE CAR FULLY ENGAGED THE BRAKES IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP. THIS WAS ON AN OPEN ROAD WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES OR OBSTRUCTIONS IN THE ROAD OR EVEN IN MY DIRECT LINE OF SIGHT. THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WHO SEEM TO HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO THEIR DEALER'S SERVICE DEPT. AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SENSORS. I LIVE WHERE ICE IS COMMON - HAD THIS HAPPENED EVEN TRAVELING AT A SLOWER PACE IN BAD ROAD CONDITIONS, I COULD HAVE SPUN OUT, SLID INTO OTHER TRAFFIC, INTO THE DITCH, ETC. CAR IMMEDIATELY BEGAN BRAKING HARD, INSTRUMENT GAGES BEGAN FLASHING, AND A BURNING SMELL COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. RETURNED IT TO STUART NISSAN IN ENID, OK. THEY FIRST STATED THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING AND KNEW OF NO TECH BULLETINS ADVISING SAME. I THEN PROVIDED THEM INFORMATION I RETRIEVED FROM THE NISSAN SITE TO INCLUDE THE FAULT CODE ASSOCIATED WITH THE INCIDENT. THEY FIRST ATTEMPTED TO RE-PROGRAM THE COMPUTER WITH NO SUCCESS. THEY THEN REPLACED THE COMPUTER AND INSTALLED NEW PROGRAMMING. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE, AS IT HAS NOT REOCCURRED SINCE. HOWEVER WHEN I EXPRESSED THE POTENTIAL SERIOUSNESS OF THIS HAD IT OCCURRED ON A BUSY STREET OR INTERSTATE THEY WERE INDIFFERENT. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO KILL PEOPLE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.

I LATER CALLED DEALER WHERE I LEASED CAR AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD SEEN PROBLEMS WITH THE FORWARD COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEM THAT WOULD CAUSE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS INITIALLY TOLD THE COMPUTER DIDN'T SHOW A CODE SO THEY COULD DO NOTHING. I INSISTED THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND SPOKE TO SERVICE MANAGER WHO SAID THERE WAS AN UPDATE SO THEN THEY REPROGRAMMED RADAR AND ICC CONTROL. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL SOLVE PROBLEM AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AS MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS SHOW A FIX DOESN'T NECESSARILY WORK, PROBLEM REOCCURS AND THERE HAVE BEEN ACCIDENTS.. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL WITH CARS WITH THE AUTOMATIC COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEMS BEFORE DEATHS OCCUR.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2018 NISSAN ROGUE FROM JOHN SISSON NISSAN IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH NISSAN'S FORWARD COLLISION MONITORING SYSTEM. WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE WITH NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME, THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED THE BRAKES. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME TO HAVE TO QUICKLY REACT AND ATTEMPT TO GO AROUND ME. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INCIDENT, THE SYSTEM WENT INTO FAULT AND PRODUCED SEVERAL ERROR CODES. THE SYSTEM RESET ITSELF AFTER POWERING OFF THE VEHICLE. UNFORTUNATELY, A SIMILAR INCIDENT OCCURRED A FEW HOURS LATTER INTO THE TRIP. I SUBSEQUENTLY TURNED THE SYSTEM OFF UNTIL I COULD GET IT TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER HAD THE CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT RADAR SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND WAS REPLACED. HOPEFULLY THIS HAS RESOLVED THE ISSUE. I HAVE DONE INVESTIGATING AND IT APPEARS THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT HAS BEEN REPORTED BEFORE AND NISSAN HAS ISSUED SEVERAL BULLETINS. I AM QUESTION IF EITHER NISSAN OR THE DEALER KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUES AND SOLD ME THE CAR ANYWAY OR EVEN WORSE, FAILED TO PERFORM MAINTENACE ON THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO DELIVERY. THERE WERE NO MESSAGES ON THE DASH OR BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL. AFTER SITTING THERE A FEW MINUTES, I PROCEEDED HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. LATER THAT DAY, I DROPPED THE CAR OFF AT THE CAR DEALER TO CHECK INTO THIS PROBLEM. I WAS GIVEN A LOANER CAR, AND BY THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, GOT A CALL TO COME AND PICK UP MY CAR. THE SERVICE TEAM WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO NOTHING WAS FIXED. THIS ALSO HAPPENED ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2018. THIS TIME, I WAS EXITING A HIGHWAY AND WAS SLOWING DOWN ON A RAMP. THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED SHAKING AND MADE A LOUD NOISE. IT GRINDED TO A STOP. IT WAS STARTLING TO ME, AS I'VE NEVER HAD A CAR DO THIS TO ME BEFORE. I ASSUMED THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ROAD SURFACE AND FIGURED THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE OR THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM HAD ENGAGED. I WAS TAKING A FRIEND HOME FROM CANCER SURGERY THAT DAY, SO I DIDN'T THINK ABOUT IT A WHOLE LOT. I HAD OTHER WORRIES. IN CONSIDERING WHAT HAPPENED, I BELIEVE THAT THE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED IN BOTH CASES. IT SEEMED LIKE THE CAR WAS DETERMINED TO STOP, EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE NO OBSTACLES IN MY WAY. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR. IT'S AN UNNERVING THING TO HAVE OCCUR, BUT AT LEAST I WAS GOING SLOW AND DIDN'T HAVE CARS BEHIND ME. I HAVE CALLED THE AUTONATION PINECREST DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN TO CHECK THE FCA SENSOR BECAUSE THEY HAVE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER NEW ROGUE OWNERS.

I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED AND IT DISENGAGED WITHIN A SECOND OR TWO AND I CONTINUED ONE MY WAY. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AND HAS 3,600 MILES ON IT. BASED ON READING THIS THREADS, THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT IS WELL KNOWN ON THIS MODEL.

DOOR AJAR WARNING AGAIN, THIS IS A NEW 2018 ROUGE SPORT WITH LESS THAN 700 MILES. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING WON'T TURN OFF, EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. THE OVERHEAD LIGHT STAYS ON AS WELL.

THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PURCHASED 2 DAYS EARLIER AND HAD ABOUT 40 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. WHEN CONTACTED, THE SALES STAFF CLAIMED NO KNOWLEDGE OF A PROBLEM BUT THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT ACKNOWLEDGED THEY HAD A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB 18-041A) ALERTING THEM OF THE ISSUE AND THEY HAD IN FACT DEALT WITH SIMILAR SITUATIONS WITHIN THAT SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC TESTS ON OUR VEHICLE AND THE LASER CONTROL MODULE FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED. THEY REPROGRAMMED IT, TESTED IT, AND IT FAILED AGAIN. THEY ORDERED A NEW CKD LASER CONTROL UNIT, REPROGRAMMED IT, PERFORMED SENSOR CALIBRATION, ROAD TESTED IT AND SAY THEY VERIFIED ALL WARNING LIGHTS ARE OUT AND NO CODES ARE RESET. THEY OFFERED TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RANDOM AND SYSTEMIC PROBLEM.

THEY TRADED ME IN TO THE 2018 NISSAN ROGUE AND THE SAME ISSUE HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES IN THIS VEHICLE. EACH TIME, THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. IT WASN'T UNTIL I CONTACTED CORPORATE THAT THEY ADMITTED THEY KNOW THERE'S A DEFECT, BUT NO FIX WAS AVAILABLE YET. THEY KNOWINGLY JEOPARDIZED MY INFANT SON'S SAFETY AND LIED TO ME. THIS DEFECT IS SCARY AND SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO BE SWEPT UNDER THE RUG BY THE DEALERSHIPS. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH NISSAN.

NISSAN DEALER TOLD US THAT HE WILL ASK HIS TECHNICIAN TO LOOK AT IT TOMORROW AND FIND OUT THE CAUSE OF THAT MALFUNCTION WARNING. BUT AS OF NOW, I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY ANSWER FROM THEM. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME OR ALONGSIDE. THE THIRD OCCURRENCE WAS ON TWO LANE ROAD COMING THROUGH A TRAFFIC LIGHT -- NO CARS IN FRONT OR IN THE INTERSECTION AND SUDDENLY THE CAR BRAKED AS WELL AS BEEPED. I TALKED TO DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE FIRST TWO INCIDENTS AND THEY TOLD ME THEY KNEW OF NO ISSUES SO OF COURSE DID NOTHING. THIS IS A NEW CAR WHICH I GOT ON MARCH 24 2018. THESE INCIDENTS OCCURRED IN APRIL, MAY AND JUNE. CAR CURRENTLY HAS 4500 MILES ON IT.

I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A MONTH AND THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES.

THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT HAPPENED WITH A VEHICLE IN MY BLIND SPOT AND ALMOST RESULTED IN A COLLISION. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND HAVE TOLD ME THERE IS NO KNOWN ISSUE OR ERROR CODE. THE FIRST TIME TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY ALLEGEDLY RESET THE SENSORS AND TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THURSDAY, A WEEK AFTER IT CAME HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. MY CAR IS AGAIN AT THE DEALERSHIP. NISSAN CONTINUES TO TELL ME THIS IS NOT A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY HAVE NO CODES FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, BUT BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS AND OTHER SITES, IT APPEARS THERE ARE SEVERAL KNOWN ISSUES. I AM NOW IN A LOANER ROGUE ALLEGEDLY WAITING FOR NISSAN ENGINEERS TO COME LOOK AT MY CAR, WHICH MAY TAKE A WEEK OR A MONTH. IN ADDITION TO THE BRAKE ISSUE, THE ENGINE IN THIS VEHICLE ALSO RAMPS UP TO HIGH RPMS AT LOW SPEEDS (AS IF YOU WERE PUNCHING THE GAS WHEN YOU'RE NOT) AND IDLES VERY, VERY LOUDLY.

THEY THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE A SOFTWARE FIX IN A FEW WEEKS AND I SHOULD JUST SHUT OFF THE EMERGENCY BRAKING FEATURE UNTIL THEN! I PAID EXTRA FOR THIS FEATURE THAT IS MOST LIKELY GOING TO GET ME IN AN ACCIDENT!!! CRAZY!! I BELIEVE A RECALL IS NEEDED ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.

I HAD THE FORESIGHT TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE DASHBOARD, WHICH I AM INCLUDING IN THIS COMPLAINT. THE ICON WAS THAT OF TWO CARS COLLIDING. THERE HAD BEEN NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND NOTHING TO COLLIDE WITH. THE MANUAL INDICATED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM HAD MALFUNCTIONED. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I AM NOT ACHING TO DRIVE ANOTHER NISSAN ... EVER. I FILED A REPORT WITH NISSAN CORPORATE CONSUMER AFFAIRS THE SAME EVENING. THE CAR HAD 600 MILES ON IT. I HAD THE DEALERSHIP TOW THE CAR BACK TO THEIR LOCATION THE NEXT DAY. TO DATE, I HAVE NO CAR AND NO ANSWERS. NEITHER NISSAN, NOR THE DEALERSHIP IS CLAIMING RESPONSIBILITY, AND NEITHER BELIEVES THEY OWE ME ANY KIND OF ACCOMMODATIONS. FURTHERMORE, IN RESEARCHING THIS VERY WEBSITE, I CAME ACROSS FIVE (5) OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT WERE IDENTICAL TO MINE, AND WHICH HAPPENED WITHIN THE PAST MONTH OR TWO. THIS IS UNDOUBTEDLY A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. IF POSSIBLE, I WOULD LIKE TO CONNECT WITH THESE OTHER CONSUMERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM.
